    Great graphics, very realistic character animations and well designed and varied worlds you travel thorugh. It looks great and is very immersive and overall well produced. I wish more games had this level of detail in the world.

    The gameplay was refined but I'm still not the biggest fan somehow. The cycle of human enemies, exploration, zombie enemies, action sequence and emotional flashback are varied but felt formulaic overall, maybe because of the linear nature of the game.

    The story was good for a videogame story, lots of progression, but I did not like all the timejumps. Also some things were not that believable to me and it is in conflict with the gameplay. And in the end it felt kind of pointless, even though many differnt things happened.

    But overall it is a very refined game with lots of varied settings.    … Expand

    After playing this game I WISH THEY NEVER MADE A PART 2...waste of 3 days for playing it...THEY RUINED THE CHARACTERS AND STORY THAT WE LOVE FROM THE FIRST GAME.

    I never experienced a story so well told. It gets you involved and it plays with your feelings in so many ways. I simply won't look at games the way I did before. And really the beauty of it all is actually how diverse and real the characters are.

    Contiene muy buena jugabilidad, excelentes gráficos, es muy entretenido pero en la historia se quedo muy corto el juego, inclusion forzada y te obligan a usar un personaje que odias desde un inicio por lo cual toda la parte en la que utilice el personaje odie cada segundo esperando que terminara y del cual se prolongo por muchas horas.

    Even if you absolutely hated the story, literally nothing justifies giving this game a 0/10. I didn't encounter a single bug or issue with performance, the environments were absolutely stunning, and even the most mundane areas had character. I don't think I saw a single repeated environment after nearly 30 hours of gameplay. The only minor thing I can say is that the AI could be a little dense but that's absolutely nothing new. Also killing dogs suuuuuucks.

    The story lets the game down so much; certain actions the characters make are not believable for what had been set for them already in the first game. The graphics are great and the gameplay feels nice with the AI keeping conflicts interesting.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. this game was something that many, like me, anxiously waited upon for years, and was also a game that was waited on with such high expectations due to the masterpiece that was the last of us part I. to me, this game was not disappointing in the slightest.

    like others, i was disgusted and horrified by joel’s death, but not in the way that made me want to leave hateful reviews saying that naughty dog had failed the franchise. to me, it was a preview of what would turn out to be the most mentally tolling game i would ever play, both morally and emotionally.

    the decision to have the player spend time as both ellie and abby was extremely risky on naughty dog’s part, but something i ultimately felt was necessary. as we play the same set of days as both these characters who have essentially been destroyed by each other, we get such an insightful glance into the damage revenge has on the mentality of someone and their actions. i found myself not wanting to be hurt as ellie and dina, but at the same time, i rooted for abby and lev, who were essentially the targets of the women i previously mentioned.

    the grief of losing someone by the fault of another is not something that can be so easily remedied, and that’s exactly what the last of us part II shows us. i believe wholeheartedly naughty dog achieved the story they set out to tackle, even though there were faults along the way.

    i urge everyone to play this harrowing game, and urge people who may not be completely satisfied to give it another go. it is vastly different from the game we all grew to adore seven years ago, but that does not make it any less worthy.

    i also applaud the diversity and inclusivity the game provided despite the opinion of bigots. catch up with the world.    … Expand

It has some truly amazing moments but sometimes the writing feels forced and in other times characters make some dumb decisions (Lev and Mel). The story is also very drawn out and the characters either not very well fleshed out or they're barely in it.My other big problem is the length: The game is so long that the combat becomes way too repetitive, the enemy placements can be also frustrating at times. I also i don't really recommend the hardest difficulty unless you want the platinum trophy because it is way too unfair.
    Overall if the game was shorter by like 6 hours, they fixed the story a little and they wrote some better characters I would like it more than the first game.    … Expand

    And there was no popcorn.
    They take a world that has been absolutely destroyed by a virus, and then they make characters who have serious first-world problems. It's like going to the poorest villages in the world and instead of teaching them how to farm and build shelters, I teach them how to choose a gender and take revenge on those who have wronged them, but then forgive them at the last moment.
    Another great storyline destroyed by writers trying to subvert our expectations. To make a third part would be absolutely greedy considering everything in this franchise has been wrapped up by the conclusion of this game.
    No amount of excellent graphics, stellar performances, or gameplay mechanics can compensate for such a strong failure in the story.
    Don't give naughty dog your money. I don't care how hard someone works on something; if it isn't good then they don't deserve your money.    … Expand

Gameplay is an improvement since the first one and remains satisfying. The soundtrack is simply beautiful. The atmosphere, visuals and attention to detail is top notch here. The main divisive aspect of the game is its story. While I loved the way the story went, I found it to be incohesive compared to the first game. The new characters introduced mainly exist to push Ellie forward in her journey and lack any personality. The ending could have been justifiable if Ellie wasn't so bloodthirsty throughout the game.     SPOILERS: Even though I disliked it at first, being able to play as Abby was incredible. Much like the writing in game of thrones I ended up understanding the perspective of who I thought had been the villain. The true villain in this game is the setting, forcing characters into terrible decisions.

All this combines to make for a great video game, but it’s not without its issues.

    First of all the game is a good five hours too long, and this could easily have been trimmed from the middle of the game without losing anything of note. For me personally however the biggest issue is the complete disconnect between the gameplay and the message the developers seem intent on telling through the narrative. I mean, don’t get me wrong, it’s great to see writers attempting something more interesting than ‘good guys Vs bad guys’, but when you’re killing upwards of a hundred people throughout the course of the game (and it’s undeniably fun to do so!) it’s hard to take the messages about violence and revenge seriously. This issue is further magnified by the fact that the player isn’t allowed any choice as to how the story plays out, and as both Ellie and Abby, I often found myself having to carry out actions I simply didn’t want to. The final scene on the beach in particularly just left me feeling uncomfortable…

    So, after all the hype and controversy we’re left with a fantastic video game that just bit off a little more than it (or perhaps any AAA video game) could chew in terms of storytelling.    … Expand

    You can’t ignore the nature of the horrors that occurs in this game, but still it all appeals to humanity. And that’s strangely wholesome.

    That was a mistake. This is the best built, most polished game I have ever played. It is my new favourite game of all time, overtaking god of war and GTA5

    The original game was a lot better story wise. TLOU2 looks good and plays good but the story is horrendous and failed to keep me interested. Ghost of Tsushima was a much better game with a great story plus it outsold TLOU2 by 50%.

However, the plot's many paradoxes failed to capture the audience's interest. If the scenes were placed on a different order, maybe the outcome would be somewhat better.

    Only good thing about the game is the graphics. Gameplay is clunky, story is infuriating, and the most loved characters from the first game turned into some of the worst character development I’ve ever seen. Ending makes no sense and we are given no explanation for why it happened. They could’ve made a masterpiece with the momentum they had from the first game but they blew it.

    Other than that, everything is fine and well done especially the art and modeling of the game. Scores of 3 points for the hard work of art, 3D and battle mechanism designer. Just for them.

    The game is wonderful (in its characters, its story, its gameplay among others) its entire story agrees very well with its first installment and this one is incredible.
    I would play it as many times as necessary since it is very entertaining and satisfying, it also teaches us an incredible moral that helps and determines people.

    Would be a clear 10 rating. But there are two things that annoy me MASSIVELY.. I **** HATE playing Flashbacks.. And the worst thing... Playing two characters in a game. I just want to play as ellie and the story should not have that much flashbacks. That ruins the game for me. Otherwise as is said 10/10

While there were a few genuinely good moments, majority of game filled up with plot holes. It just took elements of what worked for the first game without understanding what made them compelling.     If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
