This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The first several hours are absolutely stunning. Insane graphics, well developed gameplay and your two beloved characters back together. But after Joel gets killed the game takes a turn not only for the worse, but for the worst. The new characters are stale and you don't feel any bonding with them whatsoever. You simply do not care about them. Dina, your new gf? I hoped for her to just die until the end. There was nothing likeable about her except for her willingness to support Ellie on her revenge trip. Jesse? Nice guy but gets shot in the stupidest way ever. Owen - the guy you begin to like and understand when being forced to play half the game with exactly that character that had just murdered Joel in cold blood in the most brutal way? Gets killed before switching to Abby, playing her worth the knowledge that this dude will eventually get stabbed. Lev, the former scars girl/guy who ends up with Abby? No connection until the end. The storytelling is thin and had no density considering the enormous length of the game. Additionally, I never knew when the end would finally come. You prepare yourself to finish the game just to have another 5h filler element, tackling a problem that never feels to be of interest or in the characters interest. The ultimate ending is non logical and leaves you shaking your head and asking yourself: why the eff did I just struggle myself through that game when story wise all that was happening was that Joel died and then you stumbled across a world (albeit beautifully looking) with faceless and blindly interchangeable characters. As mentioned in the beginning - the game starts strong but turns out to be a long and repetitive story that struggles to build up the atmosphere and bonding abilities from the first part, but gives you no greater goal to strife for, no character development (rather the opposite) and have you play your hated arch enemy for 50% of the game without giving you any feeling of understanding of getting close to liking that character. I wished for Ellie to simply kill Abby in the end, but even that wish didn't come true and leaves you completely up in the air. The feeling of utter disappointment reminds me of the ending of mass effect 3. Expand

The game looks/sounds gorgeous, which is to be expected, it’s predecessor looked amazing for a PS3 game as well. The voice/mo-cap performances from the entire cast are phenomenal. The soundtrack/general sound design are incredible, there’s a weight felt with every shot fired/hit connected, and the non-human enemies sound straight up terrifying. The score (primarily) by Gustavo Santaolalla is one of the best around (again, Nier Automata) and every note fits the scene perfectly.

Last thing I’ll mention is the story. It certainly wasn’t what I thought I wanted when the game was announced years ago, but I loved every moment, even those that made me feel hate or sadness. It follows on from the story of part one masterfully and adds real weight and consequence to the previous story, particularly its ending which was highly controversial back in 2013 (though the consensus now seems positive).

In short, it’s a game people should play. As is Nier Automata. One of them is the best game I’ve ever played, I’m just not quite sure which one right now.

However, the gameplay is truly incredible, the world is gorgeous and feels real, and whilst I don't agree with every decision Naughty Dog have made, this game does make you think and feel things on a philosophical and emotional level (even though yes, oftentimes it is beating you over the head with a very plain and obvious message that few would truly disagree with), and that is a wonderful thing for gaming to do. It's also very interesting to be forced to play as such an unlikeable character for so long that unless you're too stubborn to change, you can at the very least start to understand over the games run time. I've been debating whether this is a 7 or 8 out of 10 since I finished it, but honestly the unnecessary amount of hate has forced me to push my score up as it truly does not deserve the bombing it's received, and whilst I understand and actually agree with some of the criticisms, this is still an important game to have been made and I'm thoroughly glad I have experienced it despite its flaws. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’m gonna be honest, no game has ever **** with my emotions to this extent. This game made me feel so many different things from the start to the end; Happiness in Jackson
    Sadness at Joel’s death
Anger during Ellie’s quest for revenge
Frustration when initially we switched to Abby
Confusion as we played through Abby’s story
Sheer horror in the hospital as Abby
Incompletion when Ellie lost to Abby
Completion at the farm with Dina, Ellie and JJ
    Shock at Abby’s capture
    And finally
A total sense of peace at the ending.
I can’t see how people are hating on the story, it is so beautifully written.
The way they made me go from despising Abby to actually loving her as a character is INSANE, and I doubt any other game could ever do that for me.
I couldn’t understand what I was feeling myself, until I progressed to day 2 and 3 for Abby
And as it unravelled I was more and more amazed as to how attached I was getting to her
Of course, I don’t think we need to talk about the sound design, graphics, animations, gameplay, and all the other content not directly related to the story, because that has never been done better on any PS4 title I’ve ever played. This game was purely phenomenal. And Naughty Dog has knocked it out of the park. Definitely will replay. Thank you, Neil Druckmann, and the whole team.
Also, the voice acting, even in the first game, man it is done too well for a video game. Every single character feels so real, and of course, Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker are absolute LEGENDS. They really made this game stand out. I have so much love for this game and everyone involved in the process of its creation.

The gameplay is mediocre, almost a carbon copy of the first game, but with a few new guns. The game is twice as long though so it gets old quick. The graphics are some of the best on the PS4 and the Voice Acting is top notch, too bad the story is absolute crap. Your best game was driven by 2 characters people loved and you ruined them both Naughty Dog, on top of forcing players to do things they absolutely do not want to do for a significant portion of the game. I am pleased with the story of The Last of Us Part II. it's a story that takes you on a roller coaster of emotions and you understand that the main characters (Ellie and Abby) are not good, They are simply the result of a bad decision that could be selfish for anyone who does not have the happiness of being a father. Both have lost a loved one And they launch on a journey of revenge that leaves so much collateral damage.

In general, you have to think about the whole journey and how an action sets in motion results that will affect you in the future, it happened to Joel, it happened to Ellie and also to Abbie.

So, if you’re very touchy with spoilers, read someone else’s review, but I am trying to be impartial and give my full thoughts. I really enjoyed this game. So much of it, from the brutal and tactical gameplay, to the hauntingly melancholic score, to the beautiful animation and graphical realism many have come to expect from Naughty Dog, work very well together. The new enemy types are exciting, and the old ones are revamped to make for more engaging interaction. In all of these respects, I was blown away and thankful for the work of the developers in crafting this stark and gritty world.
And that brings me to the hot topic of this game: The Story. I feel I should get this out of the way: Naughty Dog owes you nothing. They did not disrespect you or the characters in this fictional world by making a daring choice in storytelling. In not playing it safe, this game separates itself from many in the medium, and for better or worse, I’m appreciative of their decision.
Also, hating on this game because of its realistic representation of minorities that frequently go unnoticed in video games (and other mediums) is not a valid reason of disliking this work of art, and you need to think about your priorities if LGBTQIA+ characters in a story cause you to devolve into a state of primitive anger. I will say that I do have issues with this story, the chief one being that I feel this experience is too long. Don’t give me wrong, this game gives you a lot to do and a lot to see, but I feel the game’s central messages would’ve been elevated by cutting out the fluff and encounters that don’t add much to the game other than fodder to kill. A longer game does not equate to a better tale.
Additionally, I feel that, although the environments in this game were breathtaking at nearly all points, having 15+ hours take place in a location in which everything feels very “same-y” hindered the game, and made it drabber than it needed to be (though this may have been intentional to elicit the tone).
Furthermore, at some points the story and gameplay clash in a way that’s contradictory to the main theme that’s trying to be brought across. This may be a little spoiler-y, but having a plot about how we demonize the “antagonist” our story falls under its own weight when there’s certain factions that are pretty irredeemably horrible (i.e. using slave labor).
My final qualm is that, at some (few) points, certain story elements feel very basic, as if the audience would lack the ability to understand nuance so they made certain parallels excruciatingly obvious to see, which I feel was a bit too much (though by seeing the angry and divided fan base, I can see why this may have been the correct decision).
However, the rest of the story and plot were explored tremendously. Motifs of dehumanization, guilt, PTSD, forgiveness, empathy, and family are powerfully used to tell an emotionally exhausting tale with important themes. The character’s feel truly and utterly human, with real quirks and fears and faults and traumas that make them relatable, even with the apocalyptic backdrop. The stories strengths lie in its ability to develop the central casts’ arcs, and to depict none of them as evil monsters but flawed tragics. You begin to learn about yourself just as the characters are learning about themselves. And by the end, my morals were conflicted, (slight thematic spoiler ahead) but ultimately saddened to see how easy it is to commit atrocities in the name of love. Subplots are beautifully realized and relationships between the people in this world feel intimate are soul-crushingly impactful. Huge story beats, as well as small ones, told both in cutscenes and in in-game moments, further your connection into the characters, story, and world of The Last Of Us as a whole. And goddamn, certain story moments just made me want to bawl my eyes out. By the end, I felt relieved, happy, distraught, and empty all at the same time, which I believe is what Naughty Dog wanted, all in order to convey one essential tenet (of which is not my own words, as I’m quoting “Girlfriend Reviews”; slight thematic spoiler ahead): “There is no difficulty slider in game - or in real life - to forgive someone” (yourself included). I will say I prefer the first title in this series, but I do feel that they compliment each other well (and obligatory message to play the first one before this one). Furthermore, I have a feeling this game may grow on me, as some days I feel that the game is a 6/10 and others a 10/10 (8/10 is me trying to be objective). This is not to say that any real criticism is invalid!
So in conclusion, I feel that this game that delves into a rich world with a strong (if not slightly muddled) message is worth experiencing if you’re emotionally willing. Examine your biases, and try it with an open mind.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Shame about the bots and **** ruining the reviews for this game, but anyone who has played through the whole game knows how amazing this game truly is.

Joel’s death of course broke my heart, I adored him and his character development from the first game, where he turned from a ruthless smuggler to a father figure. We’ve seen him slowly accept Sarah’s death and heal with the help of Ellie.

Being that involved in Joel’s life makes experiencing his death so much worse, especially how brutal it was. Many people complained about this, but I feel it was the best way for Naughty Dog to go, having that emotional connection made me feel more involved in the game. I felt Ellie’s anger and grief, I wanted that revenge. If it was another character’s death that happened such as Dina, it would feel superficial because we don’t know about her as a person until the end of the game. The environment, graphics, NPCs and story were all fantastic, so many details to explore. I always enjoyed the notes you could find in the first game, and seeing it again made me very happy, it gives us insight into other lives affected by the apocalypse. My favourite environments were the underground/sewage sections with the red lighting, the part of the war between the scars and wolves on the island (specifically when Haven is burning down) and the end on the beach in Santa Barbra. So many more weather options and environments were involved, you couldn’t not stop and enjoy it.

As for Abby, by the end of the game, it was truly hard for me to hate her. Yes, I hated her for killing Joel, but she was doing the same thing as Ellie was, revenge. It was such an interesting choice for Naughty Dog to also have you play from her perspective, because when you do you start to sympathise with her pain and suffering. As a whole, I thoroughly enjoyed learning about her, at the beginning I thought she was just a ruthless and cold killer, but you realise she’s rather kind with a very strong moral compass. She passed on killing Ellie twice, even though she killed her friends. Lev and Yara were honestly a favourite of mine, I loved their involvement in the story, and Lev overall is such an interesting character you wouldn’t usually think about. Yara’s death was very sad, but I enjoyed seeing the development between Lev and Abby from then on.

Combat was great, massively improved from the first game. The introduction of dogs was a great choice, as it made sneaking a lot harder, and made me think a lot more about my movements. I struggled with the bow in the first game, but found it much easier to use this time round. It was also very satisfying using many different tools such as the bombs, stun grenades and so on. There’s so much I could comment on, but it’s one of those games one wouldn’t understand or appreciate until they’ve played it themselves. Naughty Dog did an amazing job with such a difficult decision, and that decision led to them being berated by spiteful people who wanted to put them down for petty reasons. You can have your cake and eat it, of course there are things they can’t do because it would make the game weaker overall. Joel’s death was obviously not a very light decision for them, I’d say it would have been one of the most difficult, yet I believe it’s the best option they took.

Thank you Naughty Dog for making such an iconic series, from when I was 12 until now I’ve enjoyed every part of the story and lore, and this game stepped up my love for it massively. It’ll always be a very special part of my life.

The open scenarios full of puzzles of the start disappear and the game turns into a railroad experience.
The game is not awful, but the the decline in quality is too step. After more than 15 hours of gameplay, I just don't have the will to keep playing. The fact that after so much time playing the game I just can't muster the will to finish what remains really speaks how disappointing this game is. A real shame :(

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is extremely well made but has no soul. The message of the game is "violence causes violence." For such a simple message the game is really long. The creators of this game seemed like they really hated Joel. The game goes out of its way to give Joel an extremely brutal death. His actions that led to his death were very out of character for him as well ( giving out his name to armed strangers being the main one).

TL;DR Fun game but feels like a waste of time.

The people complaining about the story in the game simply don't understand storytelling or basic narrative structure. The point of the ending is to show that both Ellie and Abby share many qualities, and are very similar characters. The point of having these morally grey characters is to enhance the connection the audience feels to the characters. This is something that Naughty Dog have succeeded in, which is why I give this game a 10. Expand

i would say the first 2/3s of the game is a great, a significant improvement on the first game in relation to everything, including it's storytelling capacity. but the last 10 hours or so of the game completely ruin the game as you start to notice its repetitive and shallow gameplay in the absence of engaging and focused storytelling.

by the end of it the game that you loved so is just a bloody, miserable slog that you can't wait to put down.

While the basics are flawless, the narrative lacks purpose, the character arcs miss genuine inflection and the driving force of the whole story feels empty and does not provide justifiable motivation. Overall TLOU provides a fun experience for those not familiar with the theme and purpose presented in the original, however when compared as a sequel it would be safe to say that the story that kept players anticipating for 7 years is was predictable, uninspired and seems to cater to less complex themes (such as vengeance, heartbreak and abandonment). The story arc of TLOU Part 2 detracts from the importance of your actions, and instead forces you into uncomfortable situations for nothing more than shock value and hollow motivation; of which you spend the next 20 hours tracing a predefined ending with little to no closure over. While it is clear that NaughtyDog left room for Part 3, I would have to advise against it, fearing worse bastardization of a story meant to inspire visceral emotion, that instead caters to impulse and bloodlust with little to no moral ambiguity to ponder over. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After the success of the original game series the developers and writers championed story telling over player choice and interactivity. This was a bold choice that enabled the studio to tell the in depth and captivating story they wanted to tell, to great critical and user acclaim. The linear story of TLOU was heavily praised for the risks that it took and the manner in which it drew the audience in and captivated them.

This brings use to Part II where the studio sought to build on the success of the first game and the add on story to further push the boundaries and subvert the expectations of the audience. However, after heaping so much praise for the development of the characters it was always going to be controversial to kill off the protagonist from the first game. Let alone do it in such a brutal and gut wrenching fashion while undermining some of the well established character. This was bold and risky and as the old adage goes, "if you live by the sword you die by the sword".

I truly believe that if they had told the story in a different fashion and had you play as Abby first and kept her objective partly cloaked. Then had her storyline end with the death of Joel you would have had a much better chance of the audience understanding the plight of the character. Starting off as having Abby kill Joel was always going to be a tough hill to climb to redeem her in the eyes of the player base. First impressions matter and unfortunately the story did not do enough to win the audience back to make Abby a likable character.

Opening up a dialogue regarding the morality of killing people in this post apocalyptic world is profound, however it is somewhat undermined by then murdering a lot of NPCs for the majority of the game. Do these characters and their back stories somehow not matter? You can't have it both ways and not be very hypocritical. Abby's father from TLOU was in no way a clear cut "good guy" and yet his death was not treated as an overly "special" event, what is to say that any of the numerous people that you kill as Abby or Ellie in Part II wont have avenging families in the next game? The futility of revenge is a key part of the morality message in the game, however it just doesn't quite stick the landing. It's the "press X to grieve" syndrome where by the game wants us to care about people's deaths when it suits them.

The game is beautiful and well designed with some real care and attention put into the upgrading animations and graphics. They also added jump.

Despite the beautiful game design the series has always been championed by its story and game mechanics and forcing you to play a linear storyline can work very well to immerse a player. However, when it doesn't work and you are forcing a player to be a character and undertake actions that you do not believe in it is jarring and un-enjoyable.
If you wish your game to be judged on its story and cinematic experience and also want to take risks that you know will shock and confront the audience. Then be prepared that the audience may sharply pull in the other direction.

Perhaps they forced the ratial and homosexual topics, i think they've done it for some minorities, but were not necesary. The madness that Ellie have, and the anger she feel towards Abby feels so real, you play an entire game with Joel and she kills he with a club. But later you undestand her motives. The violence of the war between SCARS and WOLFS is simply impressive. And the final enemies with their torture methods are so sadic that I really loved it, this is a history of revenge and its consequences, she lost everyone she loved one time, her major fear was this, being alone, thing Ellie earned with the promises she make and the acts she comitts.
To resume, the best graphics game i've ever played, it didnt betrayed the first game in style, and the fact Ellie lose 2 fingers, so she cannot play the guitar (the unique object she kepts from joel, also his watch) is the pay for all the anger she one time had. 9/10

Gameplay good, game looks and sounds grate, but the story is where i see problem. I can understand wanting to hide some plot-twist, but straight out lying about it, its just not ok. I'm talking about Joel death, i really came to like this character while playing 1 game and to kill him in first 2 hours of the game and the way he was killed. Its just disrespectful for this character#Joel deserve better. If you really needed him dead it could be arranged better then it was. After that Abby for me was irredeemable, i didn't want to play as her. I killed her on purpose often, this was the moment where i wanted to drop the game, but i also wanted to see how it ends so i kept playing. Than we came to Abby vs Elly fight and again i doubted if its worth it to finish this game. And then we came to the end, i personally wasn't satisfied with how it ends. Elly lost everything for nothing, didn't even kill Abby in the end. I suppose playing as Abby should have caused some sympathy for her, which it didn't, and i had to force myself to play this part (which wasn't all that short). If it was some new game with new characters it would have been taken better, but as it is sequel... Flashbacks was great they brought back what i loved from the first game interaction between Joel and Elly, but it also showed part 2 we can never get. In the end i didn't enjoy playing this game all that much(especially not Abby part),but it had its moments, anyway i'm gonna forget i aver played this game and never will return to it again. Expand

I was going to wait till I had finished to write the review, but I can't wait. I've played through Ellie's 3 days in Seattle and am almost through Abby's Seattle Day 1. As a huge fan of Part 1, I believe this game has made some great improvements and I don't have much to complain about.
Visually this game is absolutely stunning (10 out of 10). The sound and music are also appropriately intense. The sounds of the undead are thoroughly terrifying. I like the larger variety of weapons and upgrades and that you can upgrade to compliment your specific playing style. I like the rope puzzles and didn't feel there were too many of them like some people complained about. I'm a stealth freak (AC is my favorite game series) so I really liked being able to go prone and hide in grass. I didn't mind the jump feature either. People need to remember you're playing as normal people (women at that) in a very normal world not some parkour expert like AC or Prince of Persia. The same goes for the other shooting and fighting mechanics. You're playing as two women (one of whom is tiny), you can't possibly expect her to have the fighting prowess of Kratos. Playing as a person with normal physical abilities adds to the suspense and sense of danger.
I read a lot of complaints about the AI of the NPCs. In most cases I found it to be easier to navigate than Part 1 due to the openness of the environments. I felt I was able to move and hide and complete almost all kills by stealth. It seemed a little too easy sometimes as I felt the other NPCs should have been able to see me at times while I was choking out their friend within a few feet of them. I did like that there were two human factions to face plus the undead, which gave more variety to the game.
I felt there were more jump scares in Part 2, which I'm not a huge fan of. 1. This game is already terrifying and doesn't need more of that and 2. I'm a stealth player and don't like being forced into combat. But, these reasons are both personal to me.
Now regarding the controversial part...the story.....Maybe I'm a cold-hearted robot, but I don't mind the story at all, and am even enjoying playing as Abby. I hadn't read spoilers before I played but I full-well assumed Joel wasn't long for this world (Come on, he's the Obi-wan of this franchise, the "mentor" archetype ALWAYS dies...just like the horse, RIP Starlight). If the story was just a rehashing of Joel and Ellie on some other mission people would have ripped the game apart for being boring and a repeat of Part 1. What the creators did was create a vast world that gets explored by two different characters so you can see many different nuances of this post-apocalyptic world, which I loved. I really liked seeing the Stadium, Jackson and how the different societies were set up.
I keep thinking the people who are so bent out of shape over this story are the same ones who were so bent when Ned Stark died. Give the creators a chance, go with the flow. No person is all good or all bad, they are what they are, its a video game (its not actually a real dog you're killing, chill out). I liked the dialogue and things revealed in side convos and cut scenes. One pivotal moment for me was when Ellie told Jesse that she'd go back with him, which seemed to me she was lying and knew it. She was in too far, past the point of no return. I read a lot of complaints about her doing things that were out of character. It does seem that she should have turned back on her revenge quest long before, especially since she was actually mad at Joel for the choice he made at the end of Part 1. I feel like she's got guilt for being the only one who is immune, she seems to have a lot of emotion she doesn't know how to deal with, she doesn't seem to feel like she belongs...like in the dialogue w/ Dina where she's talking about settling down on a farm, you get a sense that Ellie has too restless of a spirit for that based on her responses. Again, there's a lot of nuance in the side conversations which seems to have been missed by a lot of the reviewers.
The game is extremely tense and emotionally draining. Its an adrenaline suck for sure. It is somber and deep and I can see how its definitely not the game for everyone. This game is not for those who want to play a happy game, this game is here to suck on your life force and it does an excellent job of that and there's nothing wrong with it. The reason I love gaming so much is that you can be immersed into all kinds of different worlds and be made to feel all kinds of emotions.
Overall I'm greatly enjoying the gameplay, the environments, the larger levels, the game mechanics and even the story. I'm taking it as it comes and not getting bent out of shape wishing for a different story.
If you go into this game knowing its not here to make you happy, you might just really enjoy it!

This game was ground breaking, and the story was so impactful that I’m still thinking about weeks after I beat it. It doesn’t hold your hand, and it’s dark realism will be hard for many to swallow.

They simply should have never made this game if it wasn’t going to live up to the first game. They completely destroy everything that was built in the first game. Simply a truly disappointing sequel.

A fantastic game. One of the best I've seen. Definitely, is in the top of the current generation of consoles, and possibly in general. I do not understand the anger of the forehead. A beautiful story, great characters, a sea of emotions, an incredible picture, unique gameplay. 10/10

The Best Game of the Decade will not suffice. The Last of Us Part II is the best game of all time hands down!

I didn't enjoy this game. It made me feel angry, disappointed, distraught, and physically sick at various points throughout. It only got worse later in the game, until it finally finished, and I haven't stopped thinking about it for the last two days.

I'm sure I will come back to the game, but I need some time to recover first. I understand why people don't like it. No doubt, if Naughty Dog had made the game these fans wanted, I would have enjoyed it too. But they didn't. What they did create is something truly special, and it's not something I'm likely to ever forget.

This game took a lot of risks with what it shows and I can understand that a lot of people who don't expect this type of story out of a game would not like it, but the rush reviews of complete zeroes right out the gate for this game is completely undeserved. While I do find the story to have some problems, everything else in the game brings it to a solid 8 for me.

I really respect what they did with the story. It wasn't perfectly paced and I understand why some people didn't like it. But I personally enjoyed how it wasn't just some fanservice. It was different. It was brave. And extremely devastating. I felt like I was personally going through all stages of grief.
I honestly haven't seen anything like it before.

The acting, environment and sound design are phenomenal. The new characters are well written.
This game can make you angry and question its storytelling decisions but if you trust it and wait, you might see its brilliance.
    I strongly recommend this masterpiece.

Play the game before review bombing it. Otherwise you just look like an idiot. The only gripe I have with the game is how jarring it is when you go to Abby Day 1, and how the flashbacks are kind of odd with their order and such. It's of course not as good as the first game but I mean come on. The expectation is that this was going to be master piece part 2, which is a little crazy to assume. Everyone has different ideas about what the game should've been, myself included, but thats not how you rate a game. The final matter is that it's a cliche revenge plot that executes well on driving home the point of the story. Ellie is still one of my favorite characters in gaming and that won't change, love Dina too but she wasn't in it that much to REALLY attach myself to her as much as Ellie. Still, job well done by Naughty Dog and can't wait for the HBO series. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'd start by saying to ignore the 10's and everything below a 4. This game will definitely not be everyone's cup of tea, story wise and gameplay wise, but I think that everyone can find something to genuinely enjoy while playing through this game. I believe that many of the negative reviews stem from the progressive motives of the game and the death of Joel early on in the game. Noa on to my my opinion. The gameplay is better than it was in The Last Of Us Part 1. The story has some problems for sure, but nothing overly egregious. The death of Joel could have played out better. And I wish they had focused more on Ellie than they did on Abby, instead of attempting to make us like a character that did horrible things to Joel Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Gamplay and graphics are a 10 but the story, I'll give it a 5. Fans of this game including me have been deceived by the trailers, and story that forces you to like abby is just a wrong move. Ending is also non sense. Unbelievable. I had high expectations of this game and bough itt just to be disappointed at the end. There is a special place in hell for those people who destroyed this once a great franchise . Expand

It's a shame that the whole thing went that way, while the gameplay and graphics are solid here, they don't do anything better that it's previous self or of serious remark. The characters just like most reviews state, are poor written and not memorable at all, a huge hit to a game that's supposed to make the story have a impact to the player. I fell in love with the art style and enviroment the first game created with the whole apocalyptic world and the story was constantly remind you of it, cause the main purpose was to survine it and find a cure for it. Here everything is ditched and we are focusing on characters fighting eachother for reasons too mediocre for the setting of the world. In my honest opinion they chose the wrong storytelling for the sequel of a masterpiece. Expand

This game has a really deep and well-written story, while I think that it could be shorter in some parts, I don't think it is a big problem.
The gameplay is fluid, and the game mechanics are great.
The graphics are amazing, and the facial animations are really impressive
My advice to anyone buying this game is to play with an open mind and make your own opinion.

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
