With story my two biggest complaints are a few cheap tricks (that only undermine the story) and the placement of chapters (what I mean is that first you play half of the game as Ellie and then suddenly the rest is almost only Abby) which makes you forget about others characters for a bit. I think it would have been much better if they played chapter chronologically. To be honest through most of the game I though about giving it an 8/10, but for me ending is so good and powerful that it elevates it easily. Also it's important to mention that you'll enjoy this game much more if you experience it not as Ellie, but rather as a person who knows (and loves) Ellie and is just an observer watching her fall into grief.… Expand

    The game play is fluent and even tho very similar to the first part a little bit refined. If its working don't try to fix it right?

    Thankfully didn't read any spoilers beforehand. All I knew was that people hated it and I wasn't sure why. I went in with an open mind and loved it. While not as good as the first game, it's still really good. Certain aspects caught me by surprise but just like life, things can come out of left field when you least expect them. Honestly, I'm still unsure why this game is getting so much hate.

Долго думал какую оценку эта игра заслуживает, как продолжение виликолепной первой части, 0-5 конечно нет, 10 скорее нет в игре есть недостатки особенно пред финальная локация за элли в санта-барбаре. ЛГБТ повестка не сильно бесит да элли лезбиянка, а лев это мальчик который является девочкой и это вся повестка которая обоснованна сюжетом и правилом созданного мира в игре ну а эбби это такая же как и элли у них одинаковая судьба и если вы ненавидете эбби то и элли вы тоже должны ненавидеть

    Although many expected a different story, The Last of Us Part II delivers in every single aspect. Naughty Dog took a very bold decision, and executed it almost flawlessly. The actual gameplay itself will reel you in, but the story and the character development is what gets you hooked. Hats off to Naughty Dog, you've made another masterpiece and I can't wait to see what the future holds.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Gameplay and visuals are incredible (can't wait to see it on next gen consoles). Sometimes I paused and used the photo-mode to capture some of the jaw-dropping set pieces (classic Naughty Dog).

    The stealth mechanics were some of the best in any game I've played, mainly because they were more realistic than other games that use similar mechanics (but still offers a significant advantage to the player). For example, you'll have dogs sniff you out if you get within a certain detection distance and enemies can spot you from pretty far away. If you're in the grass, it doesn't completely shroud you from detection if they get close enough and you're in their line of sight. The AI is also pretty clever in this game, making for some tense situations. If you're quick enough and have good aim, you can silently take out enemies and avoid combat at higher difficulties. The thrill of sneaking past some of the absolutely horrifying monsters in this game combined with the factions hunting you down really gets the blood pumping.

    I didn't have much of a challenge playing through the game. I played on hard mode my first play-through and had numerous occasions where I was fully stocked. There are some tough boss fights, but there are numerous autosave points to make fights easier. So if you like a challenge, you'd probably be fine starting out on survival difficulty honestly. Just make sure to explore and to move/kill from the shadows as best you can.

    As for the more controversial topics, I liked the characters. They're animations and conversations seemed realistic, the facial animations were stellar, and the developers fleshed out most of the characters just enough to understand their personas and motivations. Obviously, the structure they chose just made gamers rage against the machine, hence the mixed reviews. Out of all the things that make this a 10/10 game, such as the gameplay, the visuals, character development, first openly lesbian couple in a game, references to the complexity of gender identity ( all of which wasn't in your face about it), the little details in the combat/easter eggs/environment , hilarity in the light hearted moments, the flashbacks with Joel and Ellie, the clever level design and AI, sound design and ambience.... ALLLLL that, and you **** up the structure of the game? ND could have kept everything they had here, restructure the game, and you'd have a definite 10/10, GOTY on your hands. Sadly, I have to painfully give this incredible game an 8/10 for this one criterion.    … Expand

    This game Is garbage. 7 years waiting for a Storie about Joel and Ellie, and nothing. Saves 60 bucks, don't buy this piece of crap. They're gives free like a psclassic with one ketchup promo in Walmart hahahahah. Don't buy anymore games to Sony. Good bye.

    it seems that it’s understood that the author was trying to say, but how poorly everything is arranged ... how much you shouldn’t give a damn about the motivation of the antagonis. in the end, it's just a pity the time and money that I spent on the game

    Metro Exodus, which is based on the similar idea (with this I mean human relationship after apocalypses) is a positive example, providing similar or better graphics and gameplay experience.

    However TLOU2, no matter that it shocks, attracts, however you may feel cheated by creators, forced to do what you would never would like to do neither in reality, no in game, and after all leaves impression that creators wanted you to persuade into something and that obviously failed.

    He knew very well people are not going to like it. But because he wasn't able to make a great story like he had done (by some miracle) back in early 2010's. So he just went full divisive, shocking,    The Last of Us 2, probably the most anticipated sequel to a game ever.     He made the game to appeal only to himself taking ideas for the characters from his wild dreams and making fanfictions the model for the plotline. And justifying this with "this is life, it's unfair, you have to deal with it, it won't always appeal to you."
    The story is full of plotholes which Druckmann justifies with utter nonsense. The characters act out of character and are stupefied to infinity.
    Every critic gave 100/100 because Naughty Dogs make only the best games and they're untouchable. Because they're too scared they're going to be blacklisted by Sony and eaten alive by shills.
    The graphics are one of the best. I don't get why people act like it's somehow superior. There are other great-looking games. E.g. God of War, RDR2, Detroit. In my opinion Uncharted 4 looks better than Tlou2. The gameplay's pretty much the same as Tlou1 which is fine. The game is so hideously brutal and contains an unnecessary sex scene. No one's complaining about that. Guess when ND do it, it's ok and for the sake of the story.
    This all would get this game to somewhere between 5/10 to 6.5/10.
    But the main problem for me about the game are the totally unprofessional reactions Druckmann, Baker, Pierce, other staff, actors or fellow Sony comrades (such as Cory Balrog) pull off. Druckmann is so pathetic. For a man who said "I'd rather see people passionately hate it than be like 'it was ok'" it's so **** woeful he can't face criticism! Druckmann's ignoring all the constructive criticisms he gets everyday, he only responds to the most laughable, shakiest messages. And then he sticks out that 5½ racist, violent threats he got. Just miserable, wretched, pitiable and awful. It makes my ears want to puke whenever I hear their voices.
    This sucks out every remaining points and gets the score to the bottom zero.
    To Druckmann, shills and fanboys who think they're so intelecc when they "understand" the plot and say things like this:"the game's not supposed to be fun, it's supposed to be boring and bad to fully identify with the protagonists; it's a story the devs wanted to tell, not a story we wanted to hear; crunch culture is in every studio; false-advertising is in every project, welcome to the industry; you're too immature to understand the story; the haters are just some homophobes who don't like muscles on women, etc.; I'm gonna pull off some "Manny" for you.

    From the moment I started playing, all the way to the end, I wanted to know what happened next, and by the end of it I was so sad. Usually I end up playing and completing games and then thinking about the next thing to move on to, but as the story wrapped up, I only wanted to know more, for the story to keep going. This game will be the most unforgettable for me this year.

    Great game. Never think Neil Druckmann will be able to repeat high level of Last of us One. But he did it. Sadly, it lacks of well-developed characters from Last of us 1, but it is compensated by much much more deep story. 10/10.

    Hands down one of the (if not THE) best games I've ever played. The gameplay and level design have greatly improved from the first game, the graphics are phenomenal and every detail is crafted with great care.     Naughty Dog and sony have crafted a masterful interactive experience that takes you on one of the wildest rides in storytelling history. You cannot but love how they wove the story around the events of TLOU1 into a completely different story in Part 2. They took the choices we all had to make in Part 1 and made them consequences we had to deal with and they    Nothing short of amazing.
    Naughty Dog and sony have crafted a masterful interactive experience that takes you on one of the wildest rides in storytelling history. You cannot but love how they wove the story around the events of TLOU1 into a completely different story in Part 2. They took the choices we all had to make in Part 1 and made them consequences we had to deal with and they showed how that cycle of violence can be an unending grueling experience with no satisfaction unless one fights one's own internal demons. This game admittedly set the bar really high expectations wise, I understand why people are angry, they had expectations that they had created that were not met, but this game is best played with an open mind to enjoy the wonderful cinematic experience that it is.    … Expand

    I never voted a single game, I do not like using numbers to judge things and I think Metacritic "User Score" is ridiculous but for this game, and most of all, for that situation I will do an exception. Last of Us 2 is a masterpiece, a real sequel of another masterpiece. All the critics you moved are ridiculous and childish, none of them exists.     여론에 편승해 과하게 까여지는것과 재밌게 즐긴 의견 표출만으로도 집단 린치를 당하는 현 상황은 잘못된 상황이라 보며, 더 라스트 오브 어스 파트 2를 좋은 게임이라고 말할 수는 없겠지만 "잘만든 게임"이라고는 말할 수 있을 것 같다.

    Сюжет сносит крышу, очень мощно. Игра потрясающая и прекрасная. Да игровая механика не сильно отличается от 1 части, но стала выше на голову или две. Никакой пропаганды в игре не заметил.

Playing as Abby is just cheap and manipulative. You save kids, play with dogs, and kill weird cult people. Ellie kills dogs and pregnant women. Then the fact that naughty dog and Sony tried deceiving the gaming community with many stunning reviews compared to the Fact the entire fandom hates the game. Hot trash. I’d rather play dark souls 2 blindfolded on a Guitar hero guitar than play this disgusting tragedy.… Expand

    The "game" feels more like a message than a story. Absolutely terrible writing. Major details are overlooked, but lots of minor ones were thrown in. Overall a very bad game. I'm inclined to believe the critics were pressured into giving the game a good review.

Naughty dog, I give props to you for making me actually hate a fictional character, I honestly didn't think it possible. Your attempts at humanizing Abby throughout your time playing as her were strong but to no avail. I hated Abby the entire game and wanted her to die for what she did to Joel right up until I was drowning her... thats the only time I felt pitty for her. As for Ellie's development, I hate how dirty you did her. Ellie was nothing but a fun loving teen filled with humor and spunk. I understand how Joels discision to save her life could have dampened that but by the end of this game it was as if she was devoid of life. There was no hope in this game the moment Joel was killed except for killing Abby and by the end we couldn't even do that. Over all the game did a fine job at getting you enotionally invested, but none of it and I mean none of it was a feel good emotion for me. You've recieved our money and it's been the number one selling ps exclusive this is true, but in terms of replay ability I think I'm going to shelf this game forever and never pick it back up again.     Love the gameplay and story! Enjoyed the graphics, almost couldn’t believe it was not real. Had my jaw on the ground, along with the story, ND was bold with this and for me it worked.

It’s a strong message about revenge and the price to be paid and the reality of it. This isn’t your typical revenge movie where you just spend most of it just watching the hero gloriously picking off the villains one by one. The lines are blurred and it forces the player to go through some hard stuff. Obviously if you’ve played it you know you have to play as Abby for the entire second half of the game. This enraged me at first and I was still ready to kill her at the end no matter what. However by the time the moment comes, even though you don’t have the choice, I still probably would’ve stopped Ellie from finishing her off. The entire moment is huge and hits like a ton of bricks. Days after I realized....wow...if Ellie had just dropped her need for revenge and ignored Tommy, Abby would’ve died on that post where the Rattlers put her. That’s strong stuff… Expand

    Truly happy to see eventually somebody’s brave enough to tell a story like this. The game’s an absolute perfection in any aspect of its creation & the narrative which has become very divisive now, is challenging as it was intended to be. Loved it!

Playing the first game was incredible and in my mind one the best experiences I’ve had playing a game. This game took that and destroyed everything the last one built just to add some shock value. The beginning and the ending is some of the worst writing i have experienced, truly fan fiction from twitter. There are really good moments with the flashbacks but that’s it and it doesn’t outweigh the rest of this hot garbage. I have lost my faith in Druvkman… Expand

    For me this was one of the most emotional video game experiences of my life. I also loved that they didn't give it the star wars treatment, but instead told a new and fresh story, while staying true to their characters. Fantastic game!

Well first off it had a bad story Joel dying to a golf club is not a good way for him to die and why would he stay in the middle of a room filled with strangers and give his name while the company blatantly lied to us about Joel being later in the game and you play as Joel’s killer and they try to make you sympathise with her but you play as her longer than you play as Ellie this ruined the franchise the original one had great story telling and character development but this one
    was your average revenge plot gone horribly wrong Ellie literally kills everyone but let’s Joel’s killer go I could think of multiple ways to make this better like maybe Joel dies by sacrificing himself for Ellie near the end of the game then let Ellie chase after Abby. Do not buy this game the other thousands of negative reviews are just trying to warn you not review bombing people wouldn’t be doing this if they didn’t care so it has a reason because this game isn’t about gameplay you buy for the story and it is horrible. Then there’s outright manipulation replacing Joel in the trailers with Jessie. Also really Metacritic? Blocking reviews including my first one.

The story of Joel and Ellie (and others) is a beautiful one and all in all, it’s a 10/10 for me. It’s not nearly as good as the first game, but it’s a 10/10 in its own way. Good job Naughty Dog. Proud of your team for going a direction not many people go. It’s a masterpiece whether people will admit or not. I think the reason people hate the game is because they wanted to play a game that they wanted. But you don’t get what you want. You support the developers and play their game. You’re not in charge of how a game comes out. So be the consumer and stop hating. If you’re hesitant to buy this game, I’d recommend it, but only if you go in with an open mind and ready to process all that’s thrown at you. I don't want to spoiler anything but regarding the story, this game is written very bad. It's not the events that happens but HOW they happen! The gamer will feel manipulated for 90% of the game.

    Really Naughty Dog is all they have to give after 7 years? The gameplay is better than the first TLOU because now you can jump, dodje and lay down (finally in 2020!).

    There are very long boring sections where you really don't know where to go. Sure, it's a Naughty Dog characteristic but please, listen to the gamers sometimes. I Know "artist's" ego can become too big sometimes...but, Naughty Dog should listen to the gamers more.

    Regarding graphics, I think they did a great job. That's the best part of the entire game. But it should be by default for flagship company with unmeasurable budjet.

There were flashbacks with Joel to show how good this game could of been. I hate that they ruined one of my favorite games of all time. I understand what they were trying to do.     I could go on a long diatribe about this game. Truly I could go on-and-on about the the incredible gameplay, the expert storytelling, or the immaculate worldbuilding, but at the end of it all, it would mean just the same as this short summary: I was genuinely moved. This game affected my emotions in a way that games rarely do. It wasn’t always fun or easy, but it had me gripped the entire way.

    The game design and world building is unmatched. The story can leave something to be desired. While I personally loved the "don't let grief consume you" story, it unfortunately falls into some cliché plot points and falls just short of the original. I enjoyed my time with the game and will likely play it again. If the original was a 10, this is definitely an 8.

    3. Gameplay from the last decade. I re-played Resident Evil 4 on Switch before this and didn't get bored once, it's fantastic. I play this afterwards, expecting to be blown away and it was the same gameplay for 35 hours (and much worse than RE4 apart from the camera). Honestly it was painful.

    The storytelling started off immaculately but descended into boredom. There were times during the 35 hours I spent playing (and leaving the controller on too long) where the cutscenes were spectacular but there weren't enough. The characters were just too predictable and boring.

    Naughty Dog have to realise how the first game compares to this game in terms of themes and story. They should also look at the User Scores over the Critic Scores. You blew it.    … Expand

    I really enjoyed the game, the music, the characters and most part of the story. My only problem with it is that i feel is too long and by the end of the game it becomes tedious. Although i don't think is a 94 is way far from being a bad game at all.
