    Hiya!
I know that some people may come to here to find out if the game is worth playing. And to see most of it just be review bombing may be disappointed. So if you're looking to find out, go ahead and give mine a read.

I'll make it very clear that i HAVE NOT PLAYED IT. However, i know what i've seen from the leaks from before release, and these are my first impressions on the game, what it does, and if it's worth it.

To put it short- no. I don't think it is. But, why? Well, let me explain.

I can't speak for the story of the first one- but i get the vibe that it was generally unforgiving, yet held some positive themes, mainly Joel and Ellie's relationship, having someone to care about and protect in a situation like that. At the end of the day, it was unforgiving, but seemed like it had some feel good parts.

2 doesn't have any of that. But that substance isn't placed anywhere else, either. Any enjoyment or any proper theming seems completely lost, in favor of a thin veil of progressiveness that barely, if at all, covers the fact that this game exists for nothing but to revel in the same gratuitous violence that the rest of the industry does, whilst also getting to insult their players.

I'm not usually the Anti-SJW kind- in fact, i'm typically the complete opposite, I'm INCREDIBLY liberal, in fact. However, that just means that i can tell you for a god damned fact that there isn't a message or a theme here. It's violence. Violence and pain without end- that's what this game exists for. If it was about teaching the impacts of violence, and involved some kind of conscience, it could have easily gone the route of, say, Undertale- giving you the option to do the right thing and rewarding you for not being a violent and murderous lil **** Rewarding you for doing the right thing is infinitely better than punishing you for NOT doing so- yet TLOU2 does only the latter.

It had any number of ways to confront this issue, and yet chose only the most basic and effortless way to do so, almost as if they had no care for the issue they were portraying. Which is exactly the truth.

On the progressive front, i've heard people- like Rich, of ReviewtechUSA- complimenting the game's inclusivity. When frankly, that couldn't be further from the truth. Naughty Dog was clearly so blindsided by the money that they could have been making, that they literally ballsed up the entire operation. You wanna know how? They wanted to give the game some kind of trans inclusivity. How did they do that? By making ALL the women ugly, so that the trans women could see themselves fitting in there. I- Uh, Naughty Dog, coming from a trans person, do you realise by doing that you're just calling ALL trans people ugly? You know, the exact opposite of your goal? Kinda a stupid move there, guys. Just sayin'.

At the end of the day, from an outsider's perspective, someone who really didn't have a bias for or against the TLOU series, TLOU2 is honestly a crash course in corporate greed. What was once a labour of love and a series that had passion and care put into it, which gave it the massive, adoring fanbase it had, is now no different to any other AAA game series- revelling in excessive violence for the sake of excessive violence, and pandering to people in the worst, most badly thought out and most CLEARLY INGENUINE way.

Again, this is an outsider's perspective. You may **** LOVE the game. You may also love sadomasochism, i can't judge!
But, whereas the original had some spark there that, looking back, might have made it worth playing, TLOU2 has nothing. It actively insults the people it tries to support, and indulges itself in the industry's love of blood and gore for no other reason than blood and gore and pain. It exists to exploit minorities by """""supporting""""" them, and for the sake of money, indulges itself in the exact problems with the industry it claims to be 'confronting'.

TLOU2 is, from my perspective, a crash course in the downfall of a developer, thanks to corporate greed.

However, i can't give it, like, a 3 or a 0 like most others have- because it has things going for it still. The gameplay looks somewhat fun, if a little uninspired like every other survival horror zombie-based game. But, i can't say it looks bad.
The game, on top of that, seems stable. It's not a broken mess like some of the WORST games i've played. Though, that SHOULD be the normal expectation but for a mess that was likely rushed and DEFINITELY not thought out in the least, it's a surprise, to say the least [of us].
The graphics are absolutely incredible as well. If nothing else, there WAS some kind of care put into that, even if the animations can look a little janky at times [we all know the meme i mean].

It's not the WORST game ever. But it 100% lacks any kind of spark and passion and is a clear display of a developer dropping to their knees, all for the sake of hitting that green.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is not a 0/10 and sure as hell, not a 10/10. It falls in the middle. The visuals are amazing, probably one of the best looking games ever, Seattle looks amazing with the amount of flora and overgrowth, the world is filled with tiny details that make it feel lived in and alive, despite almost all humans being gone. As good as the visuals are this is a game, where gameplay is king, the gameplay is fine, it's effectively a copy+paste of the controls of the first game which isn't bad but it does have the same clunky feeling from the first title which can hinder gameplay but all in all it's not bad. The gameplay is also interrupted time and time agin by QTE's (quick time events) that don't need to be there, cutscenes in which you have to mash square or hold triangle happen WAY too often making me bored during some parts, it feels like an interactive movie or a walking sim for almost half the game. AI feels like a step down from the first game, they will constantly see you kill their allies and not do anything, and AI partners like Dina just got in the way and didn't really add anything; AI will almost always be seen by enemies and sometimes enemy AI will do nothing, other times they'll detect you and open fire even though you were completely hidden. New additions like prone are very welcome as it allows for a lot of flexibility in combat, the jump, on the other hand, feels almost useless even though it's used throughout the entire game for subpar platforming. The story is where TLOU2 truly falls apart, it begins with an idiotic way to kill off a beloved character, as Angry Joe beautifully said "we don't care that you kill Joel, we care HOW you do it," and it's never been more true. Characters we know make decisions completely out of character, so much that I disliked Ellie by the end of the game. Abby and the WLF are such bad people its difficult to sympathize with any of them, literally every big conflict is started by the WLF, which is sad because Abby's half of the game is easily the best. The set pieces, characters, weapons, abilities, are all so much better than Ellie's, it actually feels more similar to the first game because of the Abby and Lev's relationship and some of the puzzle mechanics. This is a revenge story in which you kill nearly hundreds of people, but not the one person that matters, makes absolutely no sense. The pacing is bad too, constantly taking us out of the moment going through flashbacks, they're fine but as a cohesive unit the story falls flat, I firmly believe if they edited/moved scenes around, the story and game would flow much better. Especially because by the time we get to Abby's 3 days in Seattle, I didn't give a **** about the supporting characters because they're all dead anyway. If it was just Abby's adventures with the SCARS this would be a MUCH better game, Ellie and Joel's additions actually hurt the story. If this was a standalone game within the LOU universe minus Joel and Ellie I'd give a 8.5/10, but its a sequel to one of the most beloved games of all time and does NOT respect it or its characters. Overall I give it a 6/10 but due to the false advertising by NaughtyDog and Sony (Joel's character model switched in the trailers to give the illusion he would play a much bigger role other than plot convenience), I deduct another point. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I am going to go through all aspects of the game, and give my honest opinions on the game as a whole.

Graphics: stunning, beautiful, the water, the grass everything was just gorgeous. The game will look phenomenal on the ps5.

Combat: their were a lot of moments where I felt the tension, where I died and had to approach the situation differently. Abby and Ellie are two different play types, Ellie is more ranged and stealth, while Abby is much more offensive and melee. They were different enough to create a bit of variety in the game-play. My biggest complaint is the enemy types. You have all the zombies from the first game, Clickers, Runners, Bloaters, and Stalkers. There is a new one called the Shambler that is a mix of bloater and runner. The only other enemies are people and dogs. There was not enough types to make the game feel different, it was more running into the same thing after about a couple hours.

Abby: The character that has received a lot of controversy. First thing, she is not trans, that was misleading on the leaker's part. The game explains her physique by saying she trained a lot, which too me is skeptical cause we are in an apocalypse. We don't have the resources for that kind of stuff. She is introduced poorly, she is brought in as the villain of the game, so for about 15-18 hours I saw her as the villain. She did kill Joel, brutally, and it ruined my first impression of the character. As I played her my opinion only changed slightly, but that was due to interactions with Yara and Lev. All her friends didn't make me think she was a good, kind, caring person, since in the end her friends are killers too. Lev and Yara brought a better side to her, but it was more like 'oh she fells guilt' but by the time you actually get to this you begin to get tired of her. I think she should have had her own game, not be shoved in as a replacement for Ellie and Joel. You could play the game, not play Abby's, part and nothing would change.

Ellie: Who cares if she gay, its Ellie, she can be as gay as she wants. Ellie felt over dramatized to me, like she would not admit or talk about things that would bother her, and it was frustrating. True, she did go through a lot and is now on a revenge quest. But Ellie just felt disconnected from the other characters at times. Yes her and Dina were cute, but only for an hour before the revenge took Ellie and made her distant from Dina. And for some odd reason when Ellie killed some characters she acted like she has never done that before, like it was her first time. Trust me it wasn't. I get the PTSD of Joel's death, but it felt like Ellie would at times be fine with being a badass, but then would feel instant regret. It wasn't until the ending did I feel she actually got anywhere as a character. Yes she did let Abby go, which meant she was trying to let her revenge go. I enjoyed Ellie more in the flashbacks between her and Joel then i did in the main game. Her killing of Mel was extreme, but what would have made it work more was if for a moment she saw Dina, that would warrant the reaction she had. Overall she felt like a forced drama point, and you didn't even get to play her for the whole game so you couldn't watch her arc from beginning to end.

Side characters: Jesse was cool and loved having him (then they killed him), Dina wasn't bad but got better as the game went on, Owen was also interesting (till they for some reason forced a **** scene between him and Abby, what are we 12?), Mel was sweet and I could understand her (till they killed her) , Manny was hilarious and they killed him, Nora was like a protective friend (also dead), Yara was an amazing big sister (also dead), and Lev was just a character I wished we could have explored more. Btw Lev is the true trans and let him live out his life as he pleases. I would love to have a spin off about Lev and what he goes through.

Story: I get the 'revenge is a horrible cycle thing' but the game is forcing you to feel bad for characters. You play as Ellie, killing these people that are actively trying to kill you, and everything is fine. Your enjoying the game. Then you play as Abby, and the game proceeds to show the people you killed, and how good they are, how sweet the dogs are, how they aren't so bad. The game wants you to feel bad. But frankly, I didn't care, because as a player they are the 'villains'. As for the ending, I get it, but I don't feel anything worthwhile out of it. I don't feel shocked, moved, stunned, or sad. I pretty much said "OK, was that it?" The story isn't some interwoven psychological brain teezer. This game is a sequel, but its not the best sequel. I get that characters die in such a harsh world, but to start the player off with that just ruins the players experience, it takes the action away from them and forced them to be a bystander while they watch characters drop like flies. If you like the game, good for you, I wouldn't recommend it without some caution.

In any story-driven game the strory is quite literally 50% of the game, which makes nailing it down very, very important. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case here. There are obviously some other things that the game does right from a purely technical standpoint -- although nothing close to the technical masterpiece that is Red Dead Redemption 2 -- but also that had its downfalls in the sense that they really didn't present anything new: it was the same boring, linear game-design that the first game had but with better graphics. The sound design is great, although narrow in its scope. THe graphics are ok, especially the characters' facial animations and the character models. The art-direction is incredibly boring. Expand

TLOU 2 is almost perfect in everything: pleasant gameplay, fights and their staging, well-designed locations; seriously, I have not seen a single game where the locations would be so diverse and with so many details. So the question is, how can you make the game’s so miserable plot and mutilate old characters that people love so much that even I sat with Spanish shame from all it? I adhere to the fact that this is all just a crazy fanfiction of Neil Druckmann and Anita Sarkeesian. But to my great regret, the studio simply does not have the courage to admit the project as unsuccessful and, for example, to reissue the second part with a new plot. One can only hope that they will not develop the third part, or stop following the SJW community (which does not even play games), Neil gets off the crocodile (or what does he accept there?) and releases an adequate third part. Although even if we hope for the most positive, then the **** with which they smeared the first part and the fans just can not be washed away even by the ideal in the whole third game.

By the way, Anita Sargsyan writes about the fanfiction of the TLOU dissatisfied with the plot of the continuation(crossed out) funfiction: “And honestly I'm putting aside that they haven't even played the game yet and have been hyped through all the years of released teasers. They just wanna be mad. They are sad. They probably hate themselves. And hate their lives and believe that gives them license to hurt others.” Why fall even lower in the eyes of the public writing such nonsense?

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ok there are 2 parts on my review, the game doesn't deserve a 0 and I will tell you the reasons why it's a 5

The graphics, the level design, character design, GRAPHIC design (there is more than what you think) everything is beautifull and I though DMC and GOW had the best graphics for a PS4 or console game in general BUT this **** is soo special, feels good, lookds good and is kinda fun even though the gameplay is not as polish and milimetric as COD, Overwatch, etc. If you wanna be pleased with marvelous graphics, layout and good looking everything be my guest and play this game.

THE STORY IS THE PROBLEM, you expect something from a game. If you buy DOOM you wanna feel badass and kill demons moving fast with BIG GUNNS, if you buy dishonored you wanna go stealth or murdered everbody in creative ways. Unless you like to brainlessly spent your money, the process goes by knowing which kind of game you want to play before buying it

Since the last of us 1 I expected to buy the sequel FOR THE STORY and the story is trash.
You don't get the context necesary to empathize to some of the main characters.
Some of the events on the game are pointless, could have been pretended and make the characters to feel really stupid.
The pacing of the game is horrible, doesn't feels like the events slowly and organically guide to the end but they feel like they wanted the sroty to GO LIKE THIS instead of letting it to unfold itself at a reasonable series of events
AS STATED BY DRUCKMAN the context will make you understand the reason for it but instead the context given makes you HATE to play it and ends up being unfun
SOME characters, acts, events, from the first game are disrespected becaus of the dumbass context. If something was gray color on the 1st, will be BLACK AF on this one.

I wouldn't buy this game if you're comming for the story, so bad that the story is SO trash it eclipse the gameplay and good animations and graphics

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. My problem with TLoU Part 2 is story (I know... weird), but most of characters. This game just feels like a new season for call of duty warzone, even Ellie can be compared to a protagonist of call of duty, she does nothing else then shootin tootin. Story is a total mess because of this all flashbacks, the world presented in TLoU 2 doesn't fit to the world from TLoU 1. Graphics and audio are good. but what bothers me the most is that the music from the first part just works very well in some scenes, but in the second part, there is no music in such scenes, there is only this sound similar to a grenade explosion next to you. I just don't want to play this game, not because the director said so, but because this game is like a circus compared to the first part. And the scene of the death of one of the characters at the beginning of the game (Joel) can be compared to the death of this character if a brick fell on his head at the construction site. Expand

Game is pretty long: 25-27 hours, a ton of gameplay, a visual and graphics is devastating, simply best graphics a had see so far, good sound design, good gameplay, but you’ll quickly understand, gameplay ain’t changing. I was Playing on survival difficulty, isn’t felt difficult to me, really simple stealth and combat system. Sadly we get to story, well, it’s controversial. I felt script itself is predictable, i am not only about leaked story, i am about: screamers, than makes every twist is worse and worse to characters, so u sitting and like: they really gonna use same and same story weal ? In a ending: yes. Personally, I wasn’t that disappointed, cause I was thinking Joel was make wrong decision, so I understood Abby’s character. I ain’t felt Abby’s character worst of this story. Worst in this, main idea and not going whit this to end. Vengeance makes vengeance, bla-bla-bla. Ok, I got ya, so that mean we’ll have ability to make our own decision in the end ? Right ? We gonna take side ? Drunkman: hahahah, lol, no, of course not, we gonna make most predictable ending, so predictable, than you’ll even gonna surprise to see this. Just fight between two characters.
Me: like in a uncharted, Drunkman ? Drunkman: WHAT ? NO ? iT’S NOT UNCHARTED, iT’S NOT !!! iT’S SERIOUS, REALISTIC GAME, FOR ADULTS !!! Me: that’s why u have this crazy uncharted moments in a game, where no one gonna survive ? Drunkman: ... should u play this ? Make decision after reading this, if u felt this worthy: 25-27 hours of u life, k.

I could not jump on board with what the developers were suggesting where the story was going and they lost me from the beginning. It’s just not believable what they had Ellie doing, trying to justify it by using a really sorry teenage level revenge story. I’m sorry but this game deserves better writing and more evolved game play! The game play is serviceable but I was hoping for a more developed/evolved and matured last of us. The studio only seemed to have added a few new game mechanics including a dodge button, jump button and going prone. They also failed to add any new enemies outside of the “shambler” which is a really lazy one at best. I was really hoping that naughty dog hit this one out of the ball park but sadly they really dropped the ball on this one FOR ME. Maybe my expectations were too high given it took them 7 years but that’s what I expect from AAA studios in 2020. I was really hoping that the narrative would have pulled me in just like the first game did but I could not find it in me to do so. All the characters were acting so out of the ordinary even the new ones didn’t seem to have realistic decision making. I feel like I’m being critical but I have to be given how big the title is and how bad Naughty dog screwed up. They have all the winning elements but they just didn’t put it together correctly. If they just told a more dare I say “generic” story that we all wanted with Ellie and Joel, maybe this would all be different but this is what happens when you take a risk on going woke and fail. It falls flat, especially because the last of us is such a narrative driven game, having a bad story really hiders itself from being anything great. Anyway, i hope they can bounce back with something better or a new IP that is more engaging and fun. This one wasn’t for me. Sorry... Expand

I was really hoping forward to a long awaited sequel. This was very disappointing.

This part II connects poorly with the first game and story wise it is fractured and not the same kind of dark future store, but more of a simple shooter with new characters. I was disappointed and bored in the latter part of the game.

Only enjoyable thing about story for me was flashback scenes that showed what happened between first game and second game. Overall, It is an alright game with great graphics, good gameplay and terrible storytelling. But if you are fan of the beautiful story of the first game, there is a high chance that you will not enjoy this game. Expand

It breaks my heart to write this, but I really did not expect such a poor story after all these years of waiting.

The entire game relied on it's wokeness. And it over delievered on the point that it became annoying. The game about surviving in an apocalypse world became an agenda pushing and and combined with some thing I wish I didn't see, I think I had to rate this even less than five.

But if I do that, it would be downplaying it's very smooth and great gameplay. The gameplay and controls, like all

But if I do that, it would be downplaying it's very smooth and great gameplay. The gameplay and controls, like all other Sony's first part titles, while doesn't innovate, perfected the already perfected system. The movements are smooth, the combats is simple but very engaging. The graphics are with no flaws. But it's sad that the game marketed entirely by it's compelling story, failed in that regard. And it didn't just failed. It literally crashed and burned.

The game is very cool visually and technically, but that's about it. Unfortunately, I didn't like the story, not the script. In addition, the game is very drawn-out and boring.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I must say, this game was a real rollercoaster, the gameplay, voice acting and visuals were all stunning. And the way you could plan every kill, by either throwing bricks to make some enemies go away from one specific or to plant mines to kill off the stronger enemies while you silently take out the others. From me sitting scared during the clickers. But, sadly the story did not have it in for me. The chemistry between the new and the old characters did not feel good at all. I believe that the story could have been way better if everything was in a different order, I felt that I did not care much to play as Abby at all since Ellies part left uss at a huge cliff-hanger so I kept thinking about that instead of actually caring. If we played Abby first maybe it would have been better since we would have gotten more attatched to her characters when we later on took them down as Ellie. If they could have put it all in a different order in my opinion this would have at least have been a 7 out of 10. Expand

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
