The game's visuals are absolutely stunning and truely represent how far we have come in technology to create such beautiful graphics. Another piece I liked about this game was that there are multiple difficulty levels the player can choose from. The fighting is pretty much just like the previous game. You can upgrade your weapons and can craft first aids, molotavs, etc. Hm. Yeah that's it.

    Now for the bad.

I will try my best not to spoil this but if you are reading this, PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS GAME UNLESS YOU LOVE THE FEELING OF EMPTYNESS AND UNFULLFILLMENT. The characters you loved in the last game are not the same, as if they were written completely differently or as if the characters had amnesia and forgot about how much they care about each other. Many decisions the characters made in this game made no sense and leaves the player frustrated beyond belief because the PLAYER cannot PLAY the game in crucial moments. The player is forced to perform actions that no true person with any sense of morality would. The game tricks the player into thinking we will get a happy ending or at least a satisfying ending, yet when the ending rolls in, we are left hurt, confused, and angry. I am sorry, but when you make a game that is mostly loved and known for the story, you better make the sequel to it just as good. Unfortunately, this game does not have a well written story and there are many plot holes. I can't say much more without spoiling, but just know that I will always believe the Last of Us ended 7 years ago when it was first released. I will not accept this sequel as part of one of the best stories in video game history.

In recent memory of gaming I don't believe there has been a game that was more abhorrent and more of a disgusting insult to storytelling in general, not to mention the dedicated fans that couldn't hold their breaths in years worth of anticipation for this game. This game hurt me from a plot stance more than anything I have read and/or played in my life. This is truly, in my mind at least, the most execrable and inept path for the story to have possibly taken. Sometimes giving people what they don't want can be a good thing i.e. Darksouls, but this is the equivalent of paying for bread and getting a handful of crap. A lamentable story drives an actually decent game into the dirt and deeper to bedrock and into the void for an experience that feels miserable, unfulfilling and absolutely disgraceful. So unless you want to be insulted over a 20 hour movie, don't touch this with a 10 foot pole.

It broke my expectancy. Doesn’t get near what the first game was. Joel killed hundreds to save Ellie but she wasn’t able to kill the girl that killed Jesse, almost killed her beloved, took Tommy’s eye and Joel’s life. I think what the game tried to say to us in the end is that Ellie saw on Abby’s relationship with Lev, the same she had with Joel or that she has evolved by seeing that revenge won´t take her anywhere, for me that´s **** About the first reason, it would be interesting but the way how the game developed their relationship (Abby and Lev) is so boring, Lev is just a quiet boy totally different of how Ellie was introduced in the beginning of the first game, wouldn’t feel sorry if he died, instead I would be happy to see Abby in tears.

Totally unnecessary making us play with Abby through half of the game. I know she had reasons to kill Joel, but wtf Neil Druckmann thought? That we would like to play with her. The first time i played with her after Joel’s death I turned off my console. Why you want me to play with the girl that killed my favorite character in the whole novel. Neil Druckmann could explore other ways to end the story. I know it would be cliche to end by Ellie killing Joel after knowing the truth about the first game ending but even though it would be a better ending. What makes me pissed off is that we waited 7 years thinking the way Ellie would discover that Joel was lying about the fireflies, and how Naughty Dog did it? They just brought up in a flashback, giving the feeling that the whole TLOU ending was meaningless. Naughty Dog could explore the whole “Joel’s lie” thing so much better. About the end. I think that the way it ended showing Ellie leaving the farm, gives us a hint to think what will happen: Ellie will go after the remaining of the fireflies maybe to sacrifice herself for the cure since her life doesn’t have more meaning before Dina’s departure. Why they did it? To profit more with TLOU 3.

About character development. What I really missed about the first game was the way I got emotionally closer till the point that I really start caring about the character like I did with Henry and Sam. The closer of that, that I got in this game was the relationship with Jess but even thought it didn´t feel the same like with the brothers.

And for those that are trolling the ratings, bro it’s a **** zombie apocalypse the more stronger, better. What you guys did expect, a character looking like Lana Rhoades?

Resuming, the game is beautiful, revolutionary but the story is dissapointing. My last complaint: any game industry should not do what Naughty Dog did by revealing a trailer that doesn´t have any thing to do with the actual story. I was expecting a game that would made me burst into tears but in the end i got a game that made me fill upset and disgusted with the way Druckmann disrespected Joel to focus on a non-captivating lesbian romance.

Neil Druckmann gave us what we didn´t want, maybe that is why we are really dissapointed. To really understand the end you have to be open minded and try to understand it in a philosophical way and for me, I was expecting an end to the whole novel, not a question mark. The Last of Us didn´t worth the hype it received and maybe that´s Naughty Dog purpose, to surprise us by not giving us the story we wanted on a silver platter, that´s why I give it a seven.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Honestly didn't want to have to write this review, but after how much I loved The Last of Us and hated the sequel, I figure I need to verbalize what's actually wrong with the game.

Now, gameplay and graphics are great, bu the reason I'm not giving this game any points is because it's a story-focused game. You don't get points for sound and visuals if the overall experience is horrendous.

First off, there seems to be this idea going around that people hate this game because of the lesbian relationship and depiction of transgendered individuals. Personally, I haven't played a ton of games with LGBT characters, but one outstanding game that comes to mind is VA-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action. In this game you take the role of a bartender named Jill in a cybernetic dystopian-like future. You learn about the world through the characters you serve, and their stories shape your understanding of this world the story takes place in.

It's a narrative-driven game, just like TLOUP2, and has an array of different genders and sexualities. The inclusion of LGBT in this game doesn't take away from the story, but rather is a part of it, without pandering or trying to point out how "woke" the developers are.

In TLOUP2, men are bad. Joel is a "stupid old man" as Abby describes him, before bashing him to death with a golf club. A man gives Ellie some steak sandwiches and she gives them away calling them "bigot sandwiches". Throughout the story their are interactions that leave you feeling as though the game is going out of it's way to paint men as bad people. If that's how someone feels, great. But if the only way you can build up women and feminism is by bashing men then that's pretty shallow and weak story-telling. That doesn't even touch on the unnecessarily long segments of over the top romance scenes with Ellie and Dina. It's like the developers were pointing a flashing sign saying "look how progressive we are at Naughty Dog!" As I said, nothing wrong with LGBT relationships, but when you go over the top with the romance it makes it seem pandering and shallow, less like you want inclusion and more like you want to make yourselves seem woke.

One of the biggest criticisms I have is how out of character the main characters seem to act. Joel and Tommy trusting strangers and giving their real names when they've just met makes absolutely zero sense. If you don't believe me, go play the Last of Us part 1 again. Or just watch some cut-scenes. Joel is incredibly cautious around new people, a trait he passed on to Ellie by the end of the first game, and it's almost like this game was made by a whole different team than the ones who made the first game. It's insane.

And lastly, the overall narrative. Now, at this point if you've played the game it's pretty obvious this story has an overall message about revenge, and essentially how revenge is bad and ends up becoming a never-ending cycle. It's a pretty basic theme we've seen in many stories before. But generally speaking, the way it works is that if the audience genuinely feels as though letting the antagonist live and ending the cycle of revenge is justified. That the audience feels a genuine connection with the antagonist, and that the protagonist has had enough of an experience that has changed their perspective about getting revenge.

Well, that doesn't happen here. Abby continues to be unlikable throughout this game, and playing with her for about 10 hours (which the game forces you to do) you don't feel like you've come to understand or appreciate her character more. And if anything, I think that's more the fault of the writers at Naughty Dog than it is with the player. The game never explicitly answers a very simple question: why should I care about Abby when she murdered Joel? It attempts to "humanize" her by making you play from her perspective, but again, never answers the question outright. And at the end of the game, right when you as the player feel as though Joel will be avenged, Ellie decides against it. After killing so many other people who were involved in his death, she spares the one person who deserves to die more than any of the others. It leaves the player feeling less like they experienced a videogame and more like they left a terribly written movie.

In short, I think the worst thing about this game is although I can get my money back, I can't get my time back that I wasted on this abysmal, horribly written "gaming" experience. 0/10. Honestly play something else.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The last of us Part 2 is one of the biggest gaming disappointments in a long time. First off nobody is mad Ellie is gay people didn't care in the Left Behind DLC. But people do care when you insert an agenda at the expense of the characters and the story. The last of us Part 2 is mainly about story. The majority of players bought the last of us part 2 in order to see what happened after the first last of us and to see what happened to Joel and Ellie. But what ends up happening is that we get to play as a character we don't like for the majority of the game. Joel is killed of in such a disrespectful way where it destroys the story afterwards. We all knew Joel would die at some point because it only makes logical sense but to have him die in such a way is disrespectful to the character. Besides that we have a boring revenge plot where it ultimately leads to nothing and we are left unsatisfied and confused at the ending. Besides that the graphics are stunning on the Ps4 but that's about it. Every thing else feels the same it works but isn't satisfactory. Overall this was a huge disappointment and if you are only in it for the gameplay and graphics you will love the game but if you are in it for a good story then you will be very disappointed. Expand
