The last of us 2 attempts to Pander to a demographic which don't even play the game but crave representation. In the hope of Appearing 'Woke',Naughty dog removes everything which makes the last of us series an amazing games and adds needless **** instead.

I'm mad that I had to wait 4 years just to end up disappointed with the sequel and I feel really bad for the people that had to wait 7 years. This sequel made my year even worse than it already is.

Weak game with poorly developed story. But still my score is zero because they had 7 years to develop and it still gets bad like that. Except the gameplay that is very good, but the rest is just more of the same.

I Waited 7 Long Years Just to Be disappointed by this Trash Fire Garbage of A Game, the Graphics are Absolutely stunning, the Game Mechanics are alright, the Stealth is the strongest part of the game but the story is The absolute worst. we don’t won’t to play half the game as the antagonist who just killed the most popular character Joel brutally just so they can justify her actions, in the End Ellie the surrogate Daughter of Joel to massacre hundreds of people and all of abby’s friends to give up at the finish line and let Abby and Lev go and lose her fingers, she even loses Dina her girlfriend and her stepson because of these events. There is also major plot holes in the story and The game took elements of what worked for the first game without understanding what made them compelling. It seems like this game was done by other studio. The advertising for the game was miss leading us to believe that was about something it was not and trying to tell us Joel was bigger part of the story than he actually was, if they had to keep the story the same they should of have finished the game on the tractor with JJ. In the end worst triple A game of 2020 and worst Naughty Dog Game the should just ended it at the first one... Expand

    Congratulation, Naughty Dog

You made my most favorite game of all time:TLOU
and now you made my most hated game of all time: TLOU2

I will stop buying all of your games from now until you say sorry to all of us fans, and joel, and ellie.

P.S. I bought all of your uncharted games, and TLOU 3 times.

What a pathetic excuse for a story... killing the main character that we all loved from the first game in less than 2 hours in the most ridiculous and morbid way, just to force an agenda down our throats! Who in their right mind does that?
What's the point of painstakingly building up a character in the previous game that generated so much love and acclaim across gamers only to write him so badly out of character to the point that he's totally unrecognisable; then introduce a character that we're meant to care about after he/she brutally kills the former loved and understood character, despite the fact that he literally had just saved his/her life?! As if that isn't enough, we're now forced to play as this terrible character for what seems like half of the game. Total bullocks!
This is the worst story telling and characterisation I've experienced in any video game... an utter disgrace of a release; especially in view of most of the shamelessly hyped up and obviously paid (with money, favours...) critic reviews.
Why on earth does an apocalypse game about infected zombies prefer to lay more emphasis on lgbtq relationships and sex? Even if it was straight sex that should not be the focus of such a game, especially being a sequel to such an awesome first game that also had lgbt characters - albeit it wasn't the focus of the story and characters.
Even the fan favourite Uncharted series with only straight characters does not have that forced narrative on the players either, it's solely about the story, characters and gameplay - not forcing us to be the disgusting villain and perpetuate all her/his unwarranted evil acts with absolutely no pay off!I've been a huge fan of Sony and playstation for almost 2 decades and this shambolic failure is almost unforgivable. #NoBotsHere

    Pros:
    - Looks good
    - Plays decent enough Cons: - The story is mostly boring, you're forced to play a character most people dislike through said story and overall it ignores a lot of what was established in the first game - The characters are bleak and for the most part you don't really care for them at all. The first game had people like Sam and Henry that you liked at least a little

    - Blatantly false advertising
    - False copyright strikes/claims through Sony/ND/Muso

It's like they took the first game, thought about what part II should be and then threw everything out the window. I'll give it a 4 for nostalgia reasons and because it has a few things that are fine, but you can't really expect more from a story game that blatantly ignores pretty much everything that was established in the first game.
Most of the negative reviews have nothing to do with Ellie or anyone else being gay or trans or whatever, but simply with the fact that Naughty Dog disappointed so many fans with what they've created here

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us 2 has one of the most disappointing stories from a Triple A game I have ever seen, that ultimately ends on a sour note, with the entire journey being pointless. The entire basis is its a revenge story. The main character Ellie journeys hundreds of miles, murders countless people, gets people she cares about hurt and killed all so she can kill one particular person, and when she finally get the chance at the end, she changes her mind and lets her go, wasting time, effort, and resources.

There are many characters, few of which are likable, contrasting the amazing mix of personalities in the first. Your main partner Dina is incredibly annoying, with her only notable trait being her constant inappropriate flirting with Ellie. Stand out characters include Lev, Yara, Owen, and Abby.

The writing is mainly focused of the characters relationships with eachother and there is little focus on the Infected or Apocalypse. There are multiple unnecessary sexual scenes that are legitimately painful to sit through.

The gameplay is largely the same as the first, with some basic improvements in exploration and combat, such as larger play areas with more verticality, new moves such as a dodge and the ability to go prone. The graphics are fantastic (albeit diminished by the intense film grain) as well as the sound design and voice acting. The game is locked at 30FPS with a Film Grain that cannot be disabled. There is also by far the largest amount of settings I have ever seen in a game making it as accessible as possible for everyone. There are significantly less environmental puzzles and cinematic moments than the original and there's much greater emphasis on combat and scavenging supplies.

The game will shift between playing as Ellie and playing as Abby, which have completely different equipment and weapons. The story will often shift time periods like a Tarantino movie which is detrimental to the plots pacing.

Overall The Last of Us 2 is not exactly "Bad", but after 7 years it is definitely a below-average disappointment and I have no desire to play it again.

Naughty Dog proved their technologies from their money. But their story has completely fell into hell. They used useful cliché but it's not right way of it. They made it too easily and they don't thought enough. They wanted game that have lesson or empathy things, but they completely failed. The lastofus2 don't have these. Rather it have peripheral violence that make people get feel ****

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As a big fan of the first game and its characters Joel and Ellie, I am really disappointed by this game. Graphics and sound are great, but the story is trash. I've watched the entire game on youtube, I'm not gonna give 60 bucks for this garbage. I would not download it even if it was free on Playstation Plus. What a horrible sequel. Everything in this story is either nonsense or it spits on everything the first game stood for. Joel is a skilled survivor, he wouldn't be that stupid to give his name to strangers. Also, why do we have to play with Joel's killer for so long? No amount of context will ever make me sympathise with Abby after she kills Joel (in that horrible way) after he saved her life. This is disgusting. This is just leftist/progressive agenda, let's get rid of main male characters, let's get rid of male role models as to not be misogynistic. Joel was a a father figure to all of us who played the first game and we got very attached to this character. He didn't deserve a death like this. Also, Ellie is very angry, I couldn't get a reason to bound with her in part 2. Very bad writting. This mindset may work in California, but not in the rest of the world. Also , the trailers were so deceiving. The developers said that the game will be divisive. Let's hope that the sales numbers are also divisive. Expand

I loved the first game. Wish i never touched the second one.

The story wants so desperately to be poetic and subversive, but beneath its surface lies a cliched and poorly written revenge tale that fails to add anything new or meaningful to the genre. Worse, the legacy characters of the first game are wasted as stepping stones.

Heres a bunch of revenge films that explore the themes better. "The Chaser", "I Saw The Devil", "Oldboy". Watch any of these 3 films and compare it to TLOU2. The gulf in writing quality is a joke, and critics and fans piling on praise just because a videogame was willing to be subversive is a piss poor excuse for good storytelling. I cant stress this enough, "I Saw The Devil" pretty much has the exact same plot as TLOU2, but is executed brilliantly, with nasty violence that actually shows the consequences of vengeance in a brutal, and unflinching manner. That is a story that never drags, and never cops out near the end. But lets talk about TLOU2.

Here are the numerous issues the game has.

Pacing: Its a slog. Theres no other way to say this. The game is boring and repetitive after the first few hours. Here is how it goes. You look for clues, you hit a dead end. Rinse and repeat, until you hit a climax, and then you switch characters and repeat the whole process again. Rinse and repeat. In an attempt to show duality the game forgoes all sense of momentum in favor of thematic relevance, which in this case fails dues to uninteresting and poorly written characters. Which brings us to the next point.

Characters: Before you say "oh you just hate Abby", I want you to know that every single character here is **** Including Joel and Ellie. The writing for everyone here feels like asinine emotional manipulation, convenience after convenience just so that this revenge plot can keep on moving. Characters make choices that are infuriatingly dumb and unbelievable. And Abby? Yeah her entire cast of characters might as well be forgettable mini bosses. Plus, no matter how hard ND tries to make you sympathies with her, i never once cared for anything in her storyline.

Plot: My god what a **** mess this section is. Everything here is either an conveniently placed plot device, where characters just HAPPEN to meet a specific person that furthers the story's themes, or just HAPPEN to survive scenario through sheer dumb luck. Sure, the first game had this too, but it was somewhat believable. Here? Both Abby and Ellie have crazy plot armor and this whole thing gets dragged on longer than a funeral. And all for what? Revenge is bad, violence is bad, another preachy mess of a revenge tale that hilariously cops out near the end. Again, i cant stress this enough. If you actually want to see a revenge tale that SHOWS the disastrous effects of vengence, watch "I Saw The Devil".

Structure: Absolutely broken. Remember how in line you were with Joel's journey in the first game? Forget all that. TLOU2 constantly puts you in Abby's shoes at the worst possible time, to break up the structure in one of the most heavy handed ways of showing perspective. It isnt smart, or deep. It has the subtlety of Nolan shoving exposition down your throat, except that this happens half the game, or around 15 hours.

Conclusion? Whats left is an ugly mess of a game, that visually looks stunning. But there is absolutely nothing here that actually continues the first game in a cohesive manner. Look, i would have welcomed a darker sequel if it made sense. But here? The characters of the first game are used as mere plot devices to tell this heavy handed tale of "revenge is bad". The critical reception of this game is shockingly tone deaf, and will go down as one of the most ridiculous examples of an echo chamber of praise.

After all that, do i still love the first game? Yeah, i do.
The sequel does not exist to me.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
