Considering how this franchise has done its best to nurture a relationship between its two main characters, this trainwreck of a game is a blatant slap in the face of the fans. The beautiful graphics can't make a bad written game enjoyable. It's such a shame...

I feel so extraordinary, The Last of Us Part II's got a hold on me.

This masterpiece became my most favorite video game of all time. These reviewing trolls full of idiocy and bigotry must be canceled. I bet huge chunk of them never even played it. Decent people who are willing to try out should ignore info about the game as much as possible and play first. Obviously, it’s not for

Though, in most cases, I can guarantee the unique and unforgettable experience, only if you approach it with open-effin'-mind. Enough said.

Oh, and I want nothing but to thank, Neil, ND and every single one of them who worked hard to bring us Part II. Eagerly waiting for their next greatness.

Highly graphic and disgusting for the sake of destroying the story created in the original The Last of Us game while masquerading under the guise of "defying expectations". Disappointment!

Great music and visuals are the only redeeming feature.
If you are fan of Joel and Ellie relationship, you will be disappointed.
Game had incredible potential, that falls flat because of uninteresting new characters, weird plot pacing and awful ending

I know that some things doesn't go the way we want in the game but it's relatable with real life too cause see life's not a fairy tale where everyone is happy there's no problem it doesn't happen like that so this game is also like that only it's just the gamers who are not accepting that fact.....

    Seriously Naughty Dog ?
Holy sh*** the story was so god awful. The graphics and gameplay are very clean and beautiful but the story man...
This game is pure exemple of what not to do for a sequel and destroying all character development from the previous game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game destroys everything what made the first game great. The Story is awful and poor written. Why?
Joels Death is undeniably pathetic and rushed, he got killed by the dumbest way ever. A Golf Club, seriously? Joel, as a character we love, deserved much much better! After this I thought, alright, maybe it will get better, It got even worse. Abby was a character i didn't care about. Her Backstory is told in under 10 minutes or something and they expect us to like a character who killed Joel and with almost no backstory?NO!!!! THIS IS NOT HOW IT WORKS!!! Abby even gets better Gameplay than Ellie!! She gets all the best guns and more stuff than Ellie. We did not wait seven or more years to play AS F*CKING ABBY! We wanted Joel and Ellie back. Their Bond from the first Game was memorable and fantastic. In this game, it gets butchered in the first few hours AND in the worst way imaginable.
One thing I liked about Abby was the Gameplay. Towards the end I thought, alright fine, at least im going to kill Abby now. Guess what? THEY EVEN MANAGED TO RUIN ELLIE!!! Ellie lets Abby get away, And Abby's Abrupt Love Story with an Abrupt Sex Scene was a thing, I didn't care about. In Overall, the story is poorly written and if you liked the first game, you will hate this one because the memorable and fantastic Joel Ellie Bond gets butchered in this one.
But, This Game is absolutely beautiful, the Graphics are awesome. TLOU2 has simply the best Graphics I have ever seen. But Neil, the first Game did not get the Ratings because of the Graphics, it got the Ratings because of the fantastic Storytelling, ITS NOT ABOUT THE GRAPHICS!!! I would rather have bad Graphics and great Story than this. The Gameplay did not change much from the first game.
    Verdict:
    0/10 Story
    10/10 Graphics

The gameplay was amazing, but the story line was poorly executed. In the end I concluded the hours put in meant nothing. You actually have the same conclusion twice. Leaving you asking yourself in the end what was the point. I absolutely LOVED part 1. But literally, when you complete the game ask yourself what was the point. Again great gameplay but the story fell off a cliff. ThisThe gameplay was amazing, but the story line was poorly executed. In the end I concluded the hours put in meant nothing. You won't get me to waste my time again. Metacritic seems to be blocking actual negative user criticism. So let's see if this gets posted. TO BE CLEAR: I don't appreciate behind classified as some sort of phobic because I didn't not like the game. My review is not malicious, nor the product of some conspiracy. Again, the story line was very weak at best in my opinion. I loved the prior instalments and this did not come close. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. All right, folks, I'm not saying that this is the worst game ever just because of the death of Joel or because of Ellie transformed into a stupid selfish a**ole character, but I made an account here just to say that this game is literary one of the most disappointing games in the history of mankind because the events in the plot pop up out of nowhere and happen so randomly without any preparation and they make no sense. Repeat after me, they make no sense. Any moron can write a story that the plot happens as they dream without reasonable facts. The thing that makes a story legendary is that the writer is so talented that gives you logical reasons for any event they show, otherwise anyone, literary anyone can write a story. The true art is to find the acceptable reasons for what goes on in the story to make it feel real. On the other hand, the art is not just wishes of a psychopath mentally ill person like Neil Druckmann who just wants to convey his personal thought about life to the audience by using a masterpiece as his microphone, no matter how the first game was, no matter what actual theory the first game had, and no matter how the characters of the first game were developed and defined. As you see, he is using games to express his thoughts and ideologies about life; he doesn't care about the first game. He just sees it as a tool. That's what he did with the trailer. They showed us Joel in the trailer, they used Joel to hype us, to motivate us to buy the game, but in the actual game, Joel has no effective part in the game and dies at the very beginning as a stupid careless no experienced person.
So, I'm saying this aloud: I hope Naughty Dog removes Neil Druckmann from the company, otherwise, that's the company's end of awesomeness.

Gameplay: Same as the previous game, only no multiplayer. There are few new mechanics that are neat but overall it plays the same. However, much less puzzle solving, and more side quests with no impact to the main game whatsoever, rewards you with bits of resources which you'd care only if you're playing in the toughest difficulties.

Graphics: Up to par with everyone's expectations for games releasing this late in gen 8, most of the major areas are pleasantly detailed but you can still see issues with draw distance and texture pop up from time to time, quite immersion breaking.

Sound: Good ambient sound effects bundled with somber background music, there's no joyous tunes as the dev's already mentioned before release that the game takes on a much darker tone than the previous one. Still it feels they went way overboard in that direction.

I would not recommend this game even if it's in a $9.99 bargain bin. If you got the game for free you must burn it immediately and question the intention of the person who gave it to you.

You should buy the game if you...

Naughty Dog's most polarizing game yet was a real roller-coaster of emotions for me.
As is expected from this company, the game looks stunning and is immaculately polished. The gameplay feels smooth and adds a few layers to what we saw in the first game, but still sticks to its structure of "Find your way from point A to point B while dealing with enemies and gathering resources" with a few storyline sections sprinkled in with objects to interact with and snippets of conversations to have with your companions. They also took the lessons they learned from "Uncharted: The Lost Legacy" and added quite a few large open areas to explore filled with loads of optional collectibles, puzzles and story tidbits. Funnily enough, the game also has set pieces on par with the Uncharted series, despite this game's subtler storytelling.

Speaking of which... One of the best elements of Naughty Dog's games are their stories, and The Last of Us had their best story to date. In Part 2 the team made some very risky choices which clearly haven't gone down well with many fans.
The game's main theme is the endless cycle of violence the main characters find themselves in and how hard it is for them to break out of. Sadly, this is obvious from very early on in the game, meaning at least the first half of the plot becomes extremely predictable (and at some specific moments, strangely anticlimactic). Then the game throws a twist at us clearly meant to make us empathise with a particular character, and though at first it felt jarring, they did eventually manage to sell me on the idea.
It's a strange feeling, knowing that your characters are making bad decisions and forcing you to go along with them, knowing the best thing you could do for these people is to stop playing. Mashing the "attack" button and thinking "I don't want to do this... Stop making me do this." It's a feeling few games have given me and yet this game took it to the limit. Is that good? It didn't feel good. Maybe that was the point, but if so... is it an experience I want to have? As the credits rolled I was satisfied with how the story played out overall, but I did feel conflicted in many ways. It was probably a few hours too long and could've done with some additional editing. The gameplay loop also became repetitive hours before it was done. That being said, I applaud Naughty Dog for taking risks, even if they didn't all work out too well.

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
