    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. visually this is a very beautiful game, but when it comes to the story this is nothing but a snuff film inspired game where the moral of the story only leads to nihilism. If you want to play a game that cares about the story and focuses on well scripted dialog that doesn't feel forced then i recommend playing the first game.

Very good game, people just need to understand that this was a hate story... yes the game could have done a better job explaining the story... but if your are not dumb... it was a good game with a good story to tell...if yall are mad that joel died then...please answer this question. Would you not kill the guy who killed your dad/mom? And also ellie did not kill cause then she would have to live knowing that she killed an innocent life because all abby did was revenge, if ellie killed that going to traumatize her for the rest of her life. She already got hurt killing a pregnant person. And if she did kill her then it was going to he a cycle again.… Expand

    Phenomenal from start to finish. Do not listen to the hate. A lot if people worked hard on this game and it shows in the game if you play the whole thing. If you liked the first, you'll love the second.

    It's beautiful, it's sad, it's nostalgic and it's everything I was waiting for! Some might not appreciate the direction in which it went, I mean I'm not afraid to admit I cried! But that's what happens with good story telling and in-depth character development. You become attached, you love them and hate them! It's the whole point of the journey! Don't hate on it just because Ellie's gay,It's beautiful, it's sad, it's nostalgic and it's everything I was waiting for! Some might not appreciate the direction in which it went, I mean I'm not afraid to admit I cried! But that's what happens with good story telling and in-depth character development. Characters I thought I'd hate I ended up reasoning with and vice versa!     Every mechanic. Every voice line. Every twist and turn in the story, is perfect and I haven't nor will I ever hold a game closer to my heart than this game.

    Going through this game and experiencing everything these characters go through, you build an actual real-life relationship with them. And when these characters go through positive or negative emotions, the player directly feels them. In the last scene of this game my heart broke, it gave me intense flashbacks to when my nan passed, and when I lost who I thought at the time was the love of my life. And I cried and cried and cried.

    This game is not for the light-hearted, it's actually emotionally draining playing a game with such intense emotion. I loved it, and I hated it, and that's life. You can't go through it with everything good, happy, and perfect. People die, get sick. People leave and leave you broken and the last of us portrayed these human emotions we all feel perfectly.

    Thank you to all the people who helped make this game possible. Thankyou naughty dog. I aspire to write a book that is as emotionally intense as the story for this game, you have all inspired me to be a better person. Thank you.    … Expand

    This is a Must Play for anyone who owns a PlayStation 4 it definitely lived up to the hype and delivers on an amazingly detailed world, a very intricate and complex to master combat system and an exceptional and emotional story.

    This is a great game and is a perfect sequel. If you're a fan of the TLOU, then you're going to love TLOU 2. Folks that are bombing it, have their heads in the sand for whatever personal reasons and that has nothing to do with the game itself.

    Il gameplay e simile al primo ma molto più fluido e coinvolgente .

    I seriously am in love with this game so far. I’m about 20 hours in, and while it does have its flaws, I still adore it. The dialogue is wonderful, the motion of the game is engaging, and the worlds are incredibly built. I don’t understand why so many people dislike this game, but I personally think it is a fantastic and engrossing ride so far.

I can’t say if it’s better than the first yet, but it is a much darker and brutal game than the first. It is a progression of the first game, so yes there is a MAJOR death at the beginning. Its what drives Ellie’s need for vengeance, not unlike how Joel’s love for his daughter was resurrected through Ellie and made him protect her and get her to her destination. Granted that ended up making him decide to massacre the fireflies and doctors trying to find a cure for the virus. The Last of Us Part II shows us the consequences of Joel’s actions. Joel obviously held some guilt over his decision, and as a player he’s still of my favorite characters in video game (and media) history and this makes *SPOILERS* his death extremely tragic and heart wrenching. It’s a moment not unlike Sara dying in front your eyes; it makes you feel helpless and to me, I had to pause the game to dry my tears so I could push forward. The review bombing going on is by people who can’t accept a realistic, life-like, gritty story in video games. It’s ridiculous that this is being allowed and that people are this petty over a video game. I’ll be sure to leave a full review once I’m completed.… Expand

    the game itself is incredible, amazing combat and emotional story. A big event happens in the beginning of the game that many people didn’t like (including myself) but that doesn’t make it a bad game. It’s unfair for people to rate this game poorly based on that. I give it a 10/10

    Beautiful story and gameplay. I was concerned with others negativity but I am glad I decided to play anyways. The controls are better the atmosphere is better and I’m in love with the story. Highly recommend

Imagine criticizing a video game just because you feel like it, I only read reviews from people who after 10 minutes of playing gives a 0 for who knows what reason. People have no idea what's behind the development of a video game, and giving zero to such a game is proof of that. Let's start from the technical side of the game: simply flawless, very high quality gameplay, attention to detail never seen before in a video game, all to create a unique gaming experience. I see people complaining about the plot, it may not be at the level of the first title, for various reasons, such as the fact that it is no longer a novelty (often the sequel has a slightly flatter plot) or the fact that Naughty Dog has tried to insert a new main character, but seeing people complaining that there are holes in the plot or that it is all about revenge and that the actions of the characters do not make sense, is equivalent to not understanding the topics covered by this title, nor have any idea how human beings think; because coincidentally behind these works there are studies by industry experts. The main theme is certainly revenge, but the evolution of the plot and the behavior of the charcaters contains a set of emotions that go far beyond simple revenge. The game is impeccable, whether you like it or not, but the quality of the product is undeniable, and i loved the gameplay and the story too, because you know what? that's exaclty how people would behave in such situation. A solid 10 for this masterpiece, Naughty Dog never misses a shot.
    PS: Oh yeah maybe people doesen't know that TLOU is the story of Ellie and not of Joel.    … Expand

The death set the tone and provided a motive, you can see the good and the bad side of both playable character which I really like about the game. The combat had a major overhaul too. The game is excellent, review bombed by people that haven't even completed the whole game. There is amazing character development too later in in the game.

    I finally managed to finish TLOU2. The game is much, much longer than the first and its story is more complicated, dense and dark. The history and the ending has been criticized as “unsatisfying.” For me, it’s really the only way it could have ended. This entire game is a commentary on moral relativism (what I see as right and justified, you see as wrong and abominable), and the circularI finally managed to finish TLOU2.     The atmosphere is just fantastic, much better than the first game.
    Visually is the most beautiful game that I ever seen.
    And I love how Neil Druckmann has the courage for tell us this story touching themes that are so neccesary in our days.

To me, the game fulfilled its purpose, it delivered the message in a way that's easy to understand, to those who haven't played or who are simply unhappy with the direction the game went is this, there is no good and evil, there is no black and white, we play as both the 'Protagonist' (Ellie) and the 'Antagonist', Abby, pretty evenly in terms of time spent, we see Ellie oncher bloodthirsty quest for revenge against Abby for killing her father figure, Joel, whole we see Abby go on a redeeming story arc about how she helped the survival of two siblings of a rival tribe because they had saved her. Now because we were with Ellie in part 1, we automatically perceive as everything she does as 'good' or at least justified, but in her quest we suddenly realise that Ellie has brought herself to Abbys level when she stabbed 'Mel' in the neck, not realising that indeed she is pregnant much like Ellies love interest 'Dina'. We also see Abbys justification for killing Joel as the head doctor of the Fireflies on Salt Lake City was indeed her father. To put this simply, the concept of Retribution is put under fire, even tho to many people it is the easier way to go, and with this, many people are unhappy with the way of the direction of the story, which is understandable, but just because you dont like the way this story went for our beloved franchise, does not mean the story is inherently bad, and does not disintegrate the value of the message within this game. (Also, I tried so hard to find the so called agenda that Naughty Dog tried to shove down our throats, and apart from one time at the very beginning, there was nothing else, it's not filled with SJW propaganda or anything like that, if there was, I'd say cus I too hate that)… Expand

People are just upset ‘cause things don’t happen the way they want to and forget the games deal with loss and consequences all the time.     This game is amazing. It's definitely one of the greatest single player games I've ever played. I'm not sure why they're are a lot of reviews giving it really low ratings and talking about it being political or having an agenda. The gameplay is better and the story is absolutely amazing. I can't stop playing this. Thank you Naughty Dog.

He did something bad, whatever good reason he had, he did something bad, and killed a lot of people. The game does a great job showing you the consequences of his actions and how not everything if black and white. Ellie and Joel are NOT good people entirely (Joel sacrificed humanity for Ellie, Ellie killed a pregnant woman). But, the main bad guys of the story aren’t also entirely evil, nor good. We’re showed the WLF as this bad faction and militarized thing and bad all around but then you get to see their society and how your actions also affect “REAL” people’s lives. Everyone has their reasons, and good reasons, to do the things they did. Joel killed Abby’s dad for Ellie, and Abby had every right to kill Joel. And Ellie has her right to be angry and vengeful but that doesn’t make her a good person, no one is. This is great story telling. You play both sides and it is compelling. I was mad when I got to play as Abby again because I love Joel, but then I got why that happen. Again, great storytelling, great art style, great gameplay (drags on a little by the end, but because I wanted no get to the end so badly and know that happens), great graphics and technical achievements, etc. Truly a masterpiece. Not perfect, but it achieved everything it set out to made.… Expand

    The game was the pioneer in introducing many accessibility options for people with visual, motor and hearing impairments. It has more than 60 accessibility settings, incredible graphics and an extremely engaging narrative. Better than Death Stranding, for example.

    First of all, I loved this game. Secondly, I am deeply disappointed with the gaming community - or maybe people in general.
    The game is daring and it tries to give a realistic presentation of what a post-apocalyptic world would be(like the first game). It ADDS a serious amount of context for the story of the first game. As a matter of fact the first one feels lacking without the context of the second because you get to know the characters’ feelings and thoughts better. The story is indeed a cycle of violence. The fact that Joel dies saddens every fan but it doesnt mean that it is an injustice to the character. Joel did many questionable things. One of them caught up to him in the end thus propelling Ellie to a new adventure. The game shows you that life is a matter of perspective. Was Abby in the wrong for wanting to get revenge and killing Joel? Was Ellie wrong for wanting the same? Did that justify killing other people indirectly involved? Was Joel in the wrong for not letting Ellie die because he viewed her as his daughter but they possibly lost the cure for the infection? All these questions and more are hard to answer and are ethical dylemmas that require you to see them from a certain perspective. So yea, in this realistic brutal world, revenge is a thing, violence is a thing and hatred is a thing. Also the fact that you see Abby’s side is important for the story and vital though I really liked Ellies playstyle way more.(she is more nimble-better suited weapons for me) People crying because Joel died seems stupid to me. The game overall improves in every way. Gameplay is really good and has evovled(and i dont get why some people say its the same). Acting, animations, graphics etc are out of this world. Ending was almost perfect for me, it gives a ray of hope in the bleak world that humanity continues to devastate. I dont know why people thought that this would be Ellie's happy adventures but this franchise was always about hardships and relationships. All in all, some people just dont own Ps4 but xbox, some have problems with lesbians and trans people( btw Abby is not trans she just goes a lot to the gym), some people are really sensitive and had false expectations and some people just like to ride the bandwagon of hate towards something. Most of the aforementioned people havent played the game let alone finished it. Or they are magicians who finished the game some hours after metacritic opened user reviews. We also have an abnormal amount of user reviews..I wonder why.
    In conclusion. I would rate this game 97-98/100. Its a masterpiece in my opinion. Maybe the best single player story driven game I have ever played. I am just really sad that people are the way the are. Makes me think that the Last of Us part II gives a clear message that applies like a glove to the real world: people are filled with hatred and that it is shown by their actions.    … Expand

    It doesn't make any sense that this game is in the three-point range. I was angry that something sad happened in this game. However, the more I did, the more I understood the character Abby, and it was comforting to see Elly and Joel playing in the past. The more I saw the game and graphics, the more I was amazed.The Last of us Part 2 is a masterpiece.

    Increíble, es el mejor juego que he jugado, narrativamente tiene mucha a su favor, fácilmente el mejor juego de PS4 y perdertelo será uno de los mayores errores de tu vida, no creas los 0 y 1 de los demás jugadores ardidos, tiene tanta filosofía que si eres capaz de entender lo valorarás tanto y apreciarás toda su verdadera historia. Una obra maestra narrativa y como juego.
