    I wouldnt recomend the game to newcomers and especially returning fans to the last of us. Its story is unnecessarily long with to many side diversions. The main plot is completely un-enjoyable. Without spoiling i can safely say youll play as at least one character you hate. Its pretentious that this game thinks it teaching me something I dont know. If the developers really wanted to be thought provoking, the should have made a Deus Ex style game with the player being able to make choices. Even if all the outcome to those choices were negative at least it would be engaging. Like Bioshock Infinite, TLOU2 has a disconnect between gameplay and story. Killing people by the thousands, because the game forces you to, doesnt fit with a morality tale.… Expand

    absolutley loved the game, story brings me on a rollercoaster of emotions from begining to end, gameplay executed to perfection, the AI feels more alive the ever before, dogs and new infected makes you adapt to a situation on the fly. its simply a master peice.

    Objectively this game doesnt deserve a 0/10, the visuals and soundtrack are great and the gameplay is alright. But you can't make a sequel to one of the best videogames ever with this pathetic level of writing, I know that some reviewers and crybabies will be giving it a 10/10 so I'll slightly compensate that with a 0/10. I hope Naughty Dog learned their lesson, although I doubt it.

Ich habe kein Problem damit das Ellie Homosexuell ist, ich habe auch nichts gegen Transsexuelle, ich habe nichts gegen muskulöse Frauen oder Jüdische Gebetshäuser,... Die 10 Stunden mit Abby waren auch eine Qual, diese muskulösen Arme und allgemein der Körperbau der Figur passt nicht in diese Welt. Man hat keine Vorteile als Bodybuilder, ich kenne Privat einen und dieser ist nicht gerade beweglich. Ich finde auch ihr Charakter schlecht geschrieben und die Motivation sehr fragwürdig. Eine große Zeit verbringt man auch, um Medikamente aus einem Krankenhaus zu holen, nur damit die Verletzte Person kurz darauf erschossen wird. Das ging mir alles so richtig auf den Keks, ansonsten die Geschichte um Ellie finde ich gut und spannend erzählt. Sie hätten die Geschichte von Abby kürzer schreiben sollen, das hätte dem Spiel gut getan. Es ist auch deutlich zu lang, ich will das Spiel mögen, doch alles zusammen ist es einfach eine Enttäuschung.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Just finished the game on survivor difficulty. I’ll start with the things I liked about the game. First of all, it looks beautiful. I stopped multiple times throughout to take in the environment. Pretty amazed they got it to run at a near-constant 30fps. Secondly, I really enjoyed the flashbacks between Joel and Ellie; especially the in the museum. When Joel had Ellie put on a helmet and pretend to take off into space, it brought tears to my eyes. What a cool moment.

    I also enjoyed some of the new additions to the game. Having dogs be able to track your scent was pretty cool. I had fun using the crossbow, and that basement hospital fight against that giant mutated infected (or Rat King, as it’s called) was pretty awesome.

    Sadly, that’s pretty much where my enjoyment ends. I’m not even sure where to start. They did Joel a huge disservice in the way that he died. It is an insult to think that he would abandon all of his past survival skill, knowledge, experience, etc. and mosey on in to this unknown group’s location. How do you go from: ‘I’ve been on both sides’, ‘I’ve struggled for a long time with surviving’, and ‘Don’t trust anyone but yourself’ to: ‘Greetings random group! I will blindly put my faith in you and lower my guard! This is my brother Tommy, and I’m Joel! I killed a doctor that was working on a cure!’ It just doesn’t make sense.

    That brings me to Abby. Holy crap, how unlikeable of a character can Naughty Dog make? You expect me to give a crap about this character at all? I love the feeble attempts ND makes to try so hard to get us to sympathize with her. Let’s see things from her P.O.V and look at her reaction to her dad’s death. Mmm, nope, sorry, don’t care. That ‘shock’ fell short by the way. It was super predictable that she was related to the doctor. Every time I was forced to play as her, it was a struggle to keep going. Why the HELL would you force me to play as Joel’s killer? That 10 hour+ ‘side quest’ culminating at the showdown between the WLF and Scars was awful. At no point did I ever want to play as Abby. And why do I care about some stupid power struggle between these two factions? It was incredibly boring. And to think that in the end, Ellie didn’t even get revenge. I understand the whole ‘act of mercy’ angle, and that Ellie told Joel at the end she was ready to try and forgive him, and that she thought of him when she chose not to drown Abby. But WTF. She escaped death how many times to hunt Abby down?! And then she was going to make peace with the fact that she had to let Abby live. But oh wait, she’s having PTSD because Abby is still alive, so she leaves Dina and JJ (whilst knowing that Dina won’t be there when Ellie gets back), so she tracks down Abby AGAIN. And then she’s like...NAH it’s fine, get out of here ya little rascal :) I felt very little satisfaction by the end of the game. Very disappointing.

    And the relationships in this game. I love Ellie, but I didn’t give a crap about her relationship with Dina. The thing about Joel and Ellie’s relationship in the first game that made it so special? It happened organically, overtime, onscreen. They wanted nothing to do with each other at first. But you, the player, got to see their dynamic change gradually throughout the game, and it was interesting. But with Ellie and Dina, they’re just into each other like it’s something we already should’ve known about. The most backstory we get about them is from Ellie’s entries into her journal, which is a poor way to try and build character relationships. The same can be said for Abby and Owen. At no point was I interested in anything they were saying or doing with each other.

    And some smaller grievances. It was really cool in the first game how when Joel pointed his gun, you heard his breathing get much louder, like he was scared and on edge. They got rid of that here which stunk. Also, it was cool at first how when upgrading your gun, they would show you making the addition, but that got old quickly, especially if I was trying to make multiple additions to the same gun. I just felt like I wanted a fast forward button the entire time.
    I also wanted to talk about Tommy running off on his own to go find Abby after Joel died. Uh, why did he do that? Tommy knows Ellie. He knew that she wanted revenge just as badly. He clearly did not want any harm to come to her. Why did he not go with her? Wouldn’t that be the best way to ensure survival?

    In conclusion: The original Last of Us is one of my favorite games. I can’t believe they dropped the ball so hard on Part 2. Abby is awful, unlikeable, and boring. The fact that I had to spend so much time playing as this character was terrible. I replayed 1 more than once at this point. I have 0 interested in ever replaying 2, because there’s so much of the game I would want to skip over. It’s so disheartening to see how bad this all turned out...    … Expand

    Poor history needed more truth for the final dissapointed to say no more but Instead, the punishingly bleak sequel kills off the original's main character and turns the secondary hero into a villain. It takes violence to a level that is uncomfortable even by the standards of video games, and seemingly does everything in its power to make gamers feel bad about the act of playing it.

    As for the combat it's slight improvements don't define the game either, but that's just because this is a story driven game. It's nothing special, has a few exciting moments a few boring moments. It's more about personal preference than anything. I personally didn't like it because I prefer my enemy AI to feel at least slightly human.
    As for the story...
    I hated it, as someone who has enjoyed stories that look into the human condition, this really saddens me. Every character's personality and characteristics get messed with so often just to fit neatly into the story the writers want to tell in the way they wanted to tell it that at some point they stopped feeling like people and just puppets. The game focuses on ethics but only with characters important to the story, you will shoot, murder, and kill your way through dozens of people who are probably fathers, mothers, sisters, and brothers but the story only cares about the one featured in a cutscene.
    One moment your blasting your way through enemy after enemy like doomguy, the next moment you're Shinji from ******* Neon Genesis Evangelion.    … Expand

But the lack of sense in the story in the second part and how stupid and meaningless was treated Joel part in the game(trailers mislead not only me and I call it cheating)shocked me and I just completely lost interest in playing.. The game forces me to play a character that I don't care at all about and later in the game I hate playing it. The ending is a masterpiece in sh.. writing and has no sense whats so ever .Its 8 season of Game of Thrones again but in the game industry. O jogo te prende, te faz se importar com os personagens em tela, e vc se torna cumplice deles até o fim do jogo. Infelizmente, TLoU 2 pega tudo isso é joga fora. Não reclamo da morte de Joel, mas o modo como ela acontece é ridícula. Quantas vezes Joel pediu para ellie tomar cuidado com estranhos no primeiro jogo? Mas aí, ele acaba de conhecer uma estranha, em pleno território "inimigo" é já sai falando o nome e onde mora. Puro amadorismo de alguém que foi chamado de louco, matando com sagacidade hordas de inimigos no game anterior. E assim o jogo segue. Vc controla o personagem matando geral, mas então o jogo toma controle e seu personagem que a pouco matou inimigos com a mão sem a necessidade de dar um tiro, começa a cometer erros bobos. Tudo pro roteiro seguir por onde eles querem. Não bastasse isso, nós abrigam a jogar com a algoz, numa tentativa de simpatizar com ela. Se fosse outro jogo, tudo bem, seria interessante ver esse lado da história, mas novamente esse é o 2. Como, após passar por todos aqueles momentos com ellie e joel, eu poderia me simpatizar com alguém que o matou,ou melhor,v s seriam capazes de "entender o lado de alguém que acabou de matar seu pai e sua mãe? Pq é isso que o jogo faz, tenta nos fazer simpatizar com ela para que no final a ellie a perdoe, e fim... a ellie tem que perdoar pq o jogo tenta mostrar que vingança não é boa.     The Cutscenes and Voiceacting are Amazing. The Story is predictable and falls flat at the midpoint of the game. The Gameplay although refined and better than in the first game overstays it's welcome and grows repetitive.
    The Flashbacks take you out of the narrative flow and just serve to give the player agency in hunting the main antagonist.     All in All most fans can relate that this is not the sequel we wanted or even needed.
    @NaughtyDog you really need to think about it if all the crunch and overtime are worth it if by the end even people who get paid to play videogames for a living struggle to find the drive to finish the game and even go so far as to never finish it.    … Expand

    They took the wrong way with the story, doing everything they can to shock us and make fans angry. As a game it does not work. The game tries so much to be poetic and all that cringy stuff. But to be frank this game is not fun, and I don't recommend this game unless you want 20+ hours of depression and boredom.
