I have never been more passionate about a game or cared as much about a game being bad and this is BAD. Game play is fine i guess same as the first game a little more buggy with the enemy A.I. and fight animations but its whatever. My problem is that this game is literally pointless. Their is absolutely nothing gained for Ellie and all she did was lose. All that was learned is that revenge bad. Let me start off with that i was ok with Joel dying i basically knew it was gonna happen but the way they did it in a way that made the least sense. Joel who is borderline 60 years old whose been surviving for almost 30 years by not trusting anyone. trusts a group of random strangers heavily armed and outnumbering him and Tommy and he just introduces himself and tells them where their camp is. these characters were not this freaking stupid we are talking joel and Tommy here i just god. it is such lazy writing. and the next worse part is you play as the character that killed joel for literally half the game and your just playing her while hating her and you just feel like garbage the whole time.And if you dont hate her then your just a psychopath. Ellie just loses everything in this and all to teach that revenge bad so you don't even get the satisfaction of killing the one that killed Joel. i was so exited for this game and i know they could have done it right. but it just feels like a bunched of mashed up crap together. imagine if they had just done the flashbacks and playing as Abby as to humanize her all leading up to Joels death. that would have worked so much better but it just feels like a lazy agenda push. i have never been left more unsatisfied with a games ending in my life. and so much work leading up to it all while your just feeling dead inside. I'm sad to say that i Strongly advise people just not play this game and just think of only the first game as cannon. 0/10 Literally pointless. A soulless uninspired sequel. Ruined my day.… Expand

    This game is disgusting! Using politics as a selling point is a cheap and a disgusting way to advertise a game. Naughtydog should be ashamed of themselves for attacking their fans. The only good thing about the game is the graphics. This game is absolute trash! Would not recommend to anyone.

    Worst story for a game ever. So we're supposed to feel sympathy for the Fireflies, whose half baked plan to make a vaccine for a fungus (something we can't do in real life with money and a functioning society backing research) got them all rightfully killed. Bad game. Also they crunched their devs to death forcing them to do what is practically slave labor.

Устаревший скучный геймплей, откровенно глупый и притянутый сюжет, вызывающие отвращение персонажи. И просто ужасное неуважение к игрокам.Единственное что есть в этой игре - это неплохая графика, но графика это последнее на что я обращаю внимание.     I really did not expect such a poor story after all these years of waiting. While there were a few genuinely good moments, majority of game filled up with plot holes. It just took elements of what worked for the first game without understanding what made them compelling.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I made an account specifically for this review. I can't believe the absolute mess of story telling that this game was. We've waited almost 4 years for a follow up to a game that's close to many of our hearts. The story telling is more interested in pushing a political agenda than being anything like the original which was extremely disappointing. I will be referring to the main female antagonist's name as "A" pr else my review many not be published. I will also state that she was never present in any advertising which attributes to some of the hate we as fans feel towards her.

    Joel's death to "A" happens around 2 hours within the game. And for those thinking Joel had a heroes death, he did not. All the knowledge he had in the first game of being able to spot a trap before walking into it went completely out the window as he and Tommy strut right into "A's" base with her crew giving them their real names and the location of their camp. As a result Joel gets a shotgun blast to the knee and beaten to death by "A" with a golf club. One of the other protagonists then spits on Joel's corpse as Ellie screams in anger and Tommy lays unconscious on the floor. Naughty Dog in this scene spits in the face of any of us that were looking forward to this game. To add insult to injury, "A" is about as swoll as Kylo Ren in The Last Jedi which symbolizes the strong independent female antagonist eliminating the "evil straight white man".
    Oh yes, in the end, after slaughtering all of the enemies and having "A" on death's door, you just end up letting her go because killing is wrong. I wish I was making this up, but the game doesn't give you a choice.

    Just I mentioned The Last Jedi earlier, this game is what I would consider to be the video game equivalent of such. They even have a similar beginning to their titles, ironic.

    All in all, save your money. I bought my game day of release, then sold it two days later after being disgusted, heartbroken, and in sheer disbelief.

    We deserved better Naughty Dog. Joel deserved better Naughty Dog. The Last of Us 2 deserved better Naughty Dog.    … Expand

    This game is nothing like the original and I do not appreciate what Nate Druckman has done to it. The fact the games industry allowed anyone to publish good reviews of this game is exemplary of the poor ethics in games journalism, and the opportunism displayed by Naughty Dog. Not worth the time to even watch, let alone spend money on.

I believe that some public will enjoy, but for me, its like the got final season, just using ways to impact without considering a lot of thing from the first game (Joel character totally destroyed).     So here is what I think:

    Pros:
    - gameplay
    - graphics
    - atmosphere
    - sound
    - music

    All those parts are undeniable very good. Its top notch. Sure the controls sometimes feel weird but they do in most of the games. It would be unfair to say this game isnt up to date in terms of all those points I mentioned.

    Cons:
    - story
    - character design
    - character development
    - plot holes

    So, even with all the pros this game is really really bad. It makes NO sense that Ellie act how she acts in certain parts of the game but that isnt even the biggest thing about why its bad.
    The reason is: character development.
    If you kill one of the most beloved characters early in the game (Joel) and want to bring in new main playable characters like Abby, you HAVE to bring WAY more backstory in order to make the player feel with her.
    I mean she KILLED Joel!
    How do you make the player like her? Bring more and more backstory before she does that. Let the players play 2-10h as Abby when she was a child or whatever. The backstory of her is basically told in 10minutes and then her dad is being killed. Thats it? And now I have to feel with her and understand why she killed Joel?
    Hell no!
    That is weak story telling. Really really weak.

    Then there are all the other new characters. Nobody is likeable. Like really. They all feel empty. They are only shells without any meaning.

    This game is just bad. Do yourself a favor and dont buy it. The reviews the journalists wrote are either bought by Sony or ND or are heavily politicly influenced. Sad thing is: because of that same journalists will most likely make this game GOTY. What a joke.

    Safe your money and buy something else.

    And last but not least: this is technically a very good game but the story/characters is/are SO bad it just doesnt matter how well the rest is done.

    You want a good revenge story? Watch "Oldboy" then you know how to make a good revenge story that shocks everybody to their core.

    This game right here? Its garbage.

Forcing myself to finish, just to get to the ending, and wishing I could go back and stop halfway through. Graphics cannot make up for the abysmal story that is the Last of Us Part II. (Spoilers) This game wanted to act like a Game of Thrones rip-off by trying to kill as many main characters as it could, along with almost all the new supporting cast. Nothing about the story unique in any manner.

    Joel died, by a group of Fireflies, that were hunting him. For a story about revenge, each side in this story continually let people go, when it made no sense. Fighting as Abby for the Ellie Boss Fight was horrible. I wanted nothing more than to die, but alas, I could not continue the story if done so. Which, while on the topic of Abby, was a horribly written character. No redeeming features graced this character and it was sad to say that not even Owen (her love interests) could help. Manny, who was barely in the game was more interesting than either of these characters. All of which end up dying when you start her play through, so you already know how everything goes.

    The twists of this game were terrible. Pregnant women, people dying, and continual ending vibes wrecked this game. I didn't care for exploring because of how dull the game was and I missed the different vibes the first game gave you as you travelled across the states. All in all, a waste of time that I uninstalled as soon as I finished the game. It's a shame that this was the game I waited years for and even worse is how the play on words in the trailers affected everything I thought this game might be. RIP Joel. How they took Joel completely out of character to push an agenda is just shameful. Who would even want to play as a villain that took out a beloved character! I have very little positive to say for this game...the graphics are great that is something, but this game is a story driven game, it could have been in 8 bit graphics and still been a good game IF the story was comparable to the first game!     In certain parts, the game is a masterpiece, but in history context, I think that Abby's character was played too much instead of watched. From the middle to the end, the history loses itself, but it's still a good game, I think that the negative reviews are a little exaggerated... but what can I do about it!?

Rather than a revenge story for Ellie, druckmann and his team of utter **** have made this a revenge story for Abby, who is Abby you may ask, well apparently she's some superhuman badass with arms like a silver back gorilla, who managed to take down The chuck Norris of videogames Joel, also she kills Tommy and absolutely destroys Ellie too.     This is a pile of dog **** Coming from a hardcore fan that bought the PS4 just to play part 1 and had Part 2 on pre-order for the past 2 years. The story is garbage, the main cast is ruined and Abby is the character nobody wanted or needed. Never buying a Woke Naughty Dog game again. F* you naughty for ruining my favourite game.

    I've been playing this game since it was first launched. From a technical point of view, it looks great. The AI is very bad. Dina is boring. Ellie is no longer funny or fun. They changed Joel so that they could kill him. As good as the visuals are, as bad the story is. I haven't finished the game yet, as I'm trying to own it on Survival mode - 1st play through.

    The game have beautiful graphic, but the plot is terrible. In a few years the graphics will no longer make such a big impression and the main factor that would cause a return to the game would be the plot, but the plot is terrible so no one will play it again

I stayed away from reading the leaks because I had hope.I could not contemplate how they could destroy a game with such a good story. I was wrong. I was so wrong. It is not the fact that Joel died, I accepted that at first. He should have been killed in a more personal way and the audience should have gotten to be with him the whole time.     Long story short, bad mistake, the cut scenes are way too long, the story is broken, the major event early on, ruined the rest of the game
