    I'm gonna get the pro out of the way. The best thing about this game are the graphics, and that's about it. Other than that, the story, the characters and the game play are all terrible.

If i can endure first 10 hours because of Elly, because of nostalgia but 2nd 10 hours (or MORE) I can't. INCLUDING SPOILERS. Ofcourse I don't want play for Abby. This is just disgusting character (outward, manner of speech, her friends). This game want me to perceive her environment like Ellie's environment, but i CAN'T. They empty, they hideous. In the same time Ellie's friends (that i know from the 1st game!!!! and LOVE) is a good persons. i don't give a **** about LGBT suppoena. I just don't like this past-gen game… Expand

    How could a baby child named abby kill a man who traveled across the whole US in the first part just kill him with a **** gulf stick,Think about what amazing things you did with joel in the first part, how many people and zombies you killed all by your own, just killed in his **** home?     Just made an account to rant here, this is the worst story telling ever in any piece of media, Neil Druckman and company should take as example on how to make the story work in tandem with the game design from Metal gear solid 3 or even master storytellers like Fincher or Spielberg. This game sucks story wise

I give this game a 5 since the graphics are amazing and I like what they did with ellie and gave her a family but what they did to Joel was not good I wouldn't mind if he died later in the game because than we could at least see ellie and Joel's relationship grow ,also I think they should have made it shorter by not playing as abby and if we were to play as abby it would be cool to see at the end a plot twist and how she kills joel . And if they were to do the story normally they should of ended it at the farm but no they wanted ellie to go on a pointless journey and realise that what she was doing is wrong .… Expand

    Grafics and gameplay is good but the story is trash and this is the worst thing about the game the player itself don't have motivations to continué playing after they favorite characters are complety idiots and no acording to the personalities of the first game

    1. False advertising.
    I avoided the leaks and pre-ordered the game. So, the only information I had about the game were from the trailers which clearly but deceptively showed that Joel would be a part of certain parts of the game. Except they killed him off within the first two hours, replaced him with another character and put his scenes as flashbacks even though the trailer showed him and Ellie as being older. At the moment they killed him off in the story I would have returned the game but trusting Naughty Dog and the professional reviews I had pre-ordered the digital copy so I was stuck with it and continued playing becoming more disappointed as the hours passed.

    2. The incoherence of Joel and Tommie’s characters which leads to Joel’s death.
    Both characters have survived decades in the postapocalyptic world, yet they stupidly follow an armed group down to the basement and then tell them who they are and where exactly they live. It doesn’t make sense. Why don’t they question why this armed group is so close to their settlement? Why don’t they assume they are some sort of raiders? Why were they not prepared in case these were bad people? Is this the same cautious and intelligent Joel that ran over a man pretending to beg for help for an ambush?
    A common response I’ve heard is that they became soft after the years of peace they’ve lived in. But being soft doesn’t mean being stupid. Also, the game itself contradicts this characteristic of Joel because in the game Ellie wears a gas mask, why? Because of Joel’s cautiousness! It is literally explained in a flashback that Joel does not allow her to tell anyone she is infected not even her friends and Joel tells her to wear a gas mask to which she replies no one is going to see her but Joel argues that they might run into someone.

    3. Abby.
    Our introduction to Abby is when Joel rescues her from being killed by the infected and then her immediately brutally torturing and killing him. This alone is reason enough for me to hate this character.
    The reason they give for her doing this does not justify it. Basically, Joel killed her dad and she was out for revenge. Except we know that Joel killed her dad in self-defence and her dad was trying to kill Ellie for a cure without her consent. Even the game shows that Abbie used the golden rule of “do unto others what you would want done unto you” to support her dad in killing Ellie arguing something like “if it was me, I would want you to do it.” Neither she nor her dad even wanted to give Ellie the choice. So, both Abbie and her dad are introduced as sadistic psychopaths.
    Someone might argue that Joel was also a sadistic psychopath, except as far as i remember, in the entire first game Joel only kills those who attack or threaten him and Ellie first. So, no he can’t be compared to Abby and her dad.
    And we are forced to play as her for 10+ hours.

    4. Gameplay.
    It’s the same gameplay as the first game. Except, in most cases, you can literally run past all the enemies then just jump over a ledge, climb something, go over a windowsill or most commonly hold triangle to open a blocked door. During the final sections playing as Ellie, I didn’t fire a single shot or kill a single enemy, I just rushed through. If I enjoyed the story and liked the characters then I would have played through properly but all I wanted was for it to end. Little did I know the ending was worse than I could imagine…

    5. The ending.
    The moral of the game is that revenge is bad. But at no point does Abbie show any remorse for killing Joel, she doesn’t suffer instead dozens of other people are killed by Ellie and co. Then at the end Ellie doesn’t kill Abby rather she actually saves her! Ellie ruins her own life and risks it in order to save Abby. She didn’t even have to take revenge, she just had to not get involved or walk away and Abby would have died.

    Conclusion
    I could write a lot more criticisms of this game such as it being an SJW’s wet dream and how they ruined Ellie’s character but at this point I just want to forget it existed. I hated it so much that it even ruined my like for the first game because I know it leads up to this garbage.    … Expand

I beat it on survivor so there are some pretty tough parts that are challenging. It seemed more like a chore to play the game as I had wasted 60 dollars on it with a digital pre order. I couldn’t go through the story a second time. It’s just so bad. There is so much wasted potential with the game. The game is horrible so much that I didn’t even want to play the first one anymore. I took time to download the first one then thought what is the point of even playing it. That’s how bad this game is. It has completely ruined the entire franchise. I cannot even play the first the last of us. The story made me cringe. The love triangles were not necessary. The choices people made are bad, Mel being pregnant. I think they could have done a way better job with the story. Graphics are nice, gameplay is good but sometimes a little glitchy where I couldn’t see the NPCs or they randomly show up in front of me. There were times when I would be sneaking and get noticed by someone not there. It makes that weird sound when your spotted that happened so many times that made me think who the f*** spotted me. Also the dodge command seemed to be broken. I would press it and nothing happened next thing I know I’m getting shredded by a runner. Gameplay could have been better. I wanted to give 5/10 but just can’t because as I was writing this i remembered all the BS i was put through with mechanics.… Expand

Anyway, it could have been a mastetpiece if they tweaked some sections to let the characters grow in thevplayer's hearts, not just throw a death at the beginning for shock value.     Solo es entender la historia para saber que destruye todo lo que el primer juego creó, el final... es decepcionante sientes como si todo lo que hiciste en el juego fuera una perdida de tiempo

    Visually one of the best games to come to PS4, the gameplay is similar to original last of us game so that's good. Don't like the fact I was forced to play abby it's like rockstar forcing us to play micah in RDR2 and the story could of ended differently but overall it's good.

But when playing it we feel empathy for Abby, some may even understand where she was coming from.     Very bad story. A steep decline from the original. If you want to play a lesbian girl and hear yourself talk about the kiss last night - then this is the game for you! If you want shooting and adventure - then look somewhere else.
    It seems like the Naughty Dog guys want to bury this series too, the same way they did with Uncharted.
    Pity.

It is even hard to sell this thing online. Sold the cd online after 7 days. Watched the entire story from a streamer. It is a propaganda movie. A branching ending could have been good by giving the players the option to kill or not to kill Abby the hulk. The story is bad.… Expand

    This game is truly beautiful. By far the best graphics on a game that I have ever seen. The music is great, and the voice acting is fantastic. However, I have the same problem with it as alot of other people. The story is so poorly told, and the fact that they ruined Ellie made it even worse. I am sorry but this is a bad game.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The story sucked which made the game horrible. Was the whole 2nd act trying to make you sympathetic to Abby? Cuz it didn’t work on me at all. I did not care for Abby and her child murdering dad at all. That whole arc with her was annoying, a waste of time, and practically unplayable. Hard to play when you’re consistently rooting for the character you’re playing with to die slow. I was rooting for all Abby’s crew to die slow too. Mel was right, Abby is a POS. Even near the end of Seattle I was elated when Tommy got Manny but then Abby shoots Tommy and you still have to play as her to fight Ellie?! BS! The ending is of course horrible and unsatisfying. Complete waste waste of everyone’s time. Only remotely satisfying thing was letting Abby die slow and get killed multiple times. If there was a shorter version where you skip all of the 2nd Act, then skip to Santa Barbara and Ellie either leaves Abby to be tortured or drowns her, or at least blow up her leg like she did Joel, so she wouldn’t last much longer, at least that would be a ok game, even if it was like 1/2 as long.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Just finished this overly divisive game today. Where to start, gameplay was well done little better than first game had some irritations with it but overall good.

    Gameplay stuff
    1. Had to turn off autoaim stuff cause it was fighting against me.

    2. Some of the gameplay designs like only being able to use weapons when the game said you could like couldn't pick up certain weapons etc... i found overly immersion breaking.

    3. The switching back and forth between Ellie and Abby was not all that fun because it happens so often. The equipment is different so you like being able to use Molotov's with Ellie and having a knife to do stealth kills all the time. {Mainly only had issues with not being able to stealth kill clickers with Abby unless i had shivs} which i find dumb like there are knives everywhere. and with Abby you have pipe bombs no Molotov's and i found them crap unless it was a boss but that's my opinion.
    Overall i just found the jumping between characters and timelines irritating and the gameplay becomes a little boring after a while game should have been 5 hours or so shorter but that was mainly because of the timeline jumping around.
    Plus story wasn't very compelling which made the length worse but we'll get to that in a sec.

    Graphics are just WOW and the attention to detail was awesome too bad some of that didn't translate to story lol. I want this level of graphics in every game its pretty breathtaking little better than RDR2 but that's an open world game so it had to have compromises but Naughty dog focused every bit of smaller scale into graphics and detail and Oh my!! the GRASS lol.

    Now for the STORY I overall hated it.
    I find the first game a masterpiece on just story alone really didn't care to much for the gameplay but, the characters and the relationships they have will have you laughing your butt off and at times shedding tears. i don't have a child but saving Ellie at the end wasn't even a choice I was told the possible cure would kill her i was like ''Oh hell no!''.
    I didn't play it at launch i got it for the ps4 so only needed to wait for part 2 for a few years and boy was it disappointing...

    --Spoilers--
    Start up the game and it shows the ending of the last game and Joel telling Tommy what he did, what i did and your play as him for all of 3 mins which isn't a big deal i wanted Ellie to be the main character for this go around pick up as Ellie after the Joel sequence. walk around town learning a bit about the town and Jessie a new character his life is meaningless the writer kills him off abruptly 3/4 through the game after he finds out Dina the other new mostly pointless love interest for Ellie is pregnant. Yes Ellie is gay they'll make sure to not let you forget every chance they get {So well done in left behind} to now only character attributes are sexuality, wanting revenge, and being broken.

    After a hour or so you start playing as Abby {Daughter of the doc you kill in first game} the new character and lead up to getting saved by Joel and Tommy. First thing Tommy does is tell random person both their names keep in mind they both know that some of the ppl they **** over might want revenge but who writes logic for overly smart characters right?!?

    Then overly Cautious Characters head to where Abby's group are and get safe inside and Tommy and Joel both tell the whole armed group their names and where they stay and pow Joel gets killed like WTF!!!!!! so much for that false advertising of thinking it'll be an older Ellie and Joel game nah its Ellie and Abby's game a character i Hate and they try so hard for me to sympathize with hell no I know why she did it and i don't care i don't want to play as her but have to for 10ish hours and it all ends up with her losing most her friends to Ellie and Tommy and helping 2 scar sisters who are being hunted because one is trans and doesn't want to be a girl very progressive. Ellie runs into Abby again and Jessie dies and Tommy Gets what seems like bullet through the eye and Ellie begs for Abby to not kill Dina and the scar boy gives Abby a change of heart and they leave and Ellie lives on happily ever after...

    Nah the Man[Tommy} has to come be an **** to Ellie and Dina and tear their family apart so Ellie goes to find Abby to killer her and Abby half dead and imprisoned Ellie frees her and wants to fight threatens the kid to get Abby to fight and they beat the **** out of each other and Ellie starts to drown her and flashback to Joel and she stops after 100s of dead ppl now is too much and Ellie is left with nothing Dina left and it ends all depressing. this games was made to subvert expectations and piss you off and it does just that I hate this game i have every right to do so for how the characters I love was treated. is about 6.5 overall but the fake 10/10 this thing is getting because ppl can't except that ppl hate what was done here. no game is a 10/10 and nearly no game is a 0-2/10

    There aspects for this game that are beyond debate, the technical marvel for the aging Ps4 is truly something, this will end up in the top 5 of best looking games for the PS4.

    I did sneak most of the game, it took me 36 hours because of that, but I have seen people truly having a blast being aggressive with combat. The level design is compelling and the character models are fluid and amazing. Maybe the best I’ve ever seen. The music is so well done. I loved every moment from the subtle build in the background to the audio queues that indicated different things. The game is stunning. I know a lot of people are angry and yelling. Unfortunately, that’s what gets attention. So when many say they are dissatisfied and disappointed in the story development it’s glossed over by the raving mad men. But if we’re being honest, the attention to detail is so stunning, that the creators decided to just hurt anyone who cared about the characters from the original game. To me it felt very “subvert expectations.” The train wreck that was GOT final season as an example. My issues with the game was that it actually was painful to play. Like I tried to “care” about abby and the whole sudden friendship with lev and yara. But I couldn’t care less. And in LOU 1 I cared more about the guy and his little brother that you only spend an hour of gameplay with. So it’s not that they don’t know how to write compelling characters, I feel they just wanted us to be conflicted. As soon as I took over the game as abby, I lost all interest in the game. For one, she was obviously not a murderous unsympathetic person. After all, look what she does for lev and yara. But you’re telling us that she will brutalize a man in front of his “daughter” basically. On top of that, we find out she knows exactly why he killed her father. She saw even them conflicted about killing Ellie for a “cure.” She obviously knew they didn’t even ask Joel, or Ellie if killing her was fine. The fact that she is shown at the beginning as a heartless killer of one of the most beloved characters is a completely acceptable story telling mechanic. But you then ask the gamer to play more than half their time as this person, like they would care at all. Did anyone care for cercei in GOT? You even force them to cat and mouse against Ellie. I litterally remember thinking If I just fail here, can that be the “good end.” All this to just say that the reason I felt that way was because the story was bad. It felt like you didn’t care about us. Just like we didn’t care about abby. The saddest part I think i saw was Druckmann just said “it’s just a video game” in response to some troll comments. But honestly that is kinda how it felt the game was made. Here’s something to think about though. A video game, movie, tv show, or any form of art can transcend a person. You likely can recall amazing journeys you’ve been on because of “just a video game.” So the fact that it felt like the whole game was a brutal journey, with literally no outcome of any kind, just sucked. We know that Druckmann knew what the audience wanted. With the last memory Ellie has of Joel. Where she says she will try to move forward and forgive him. I feel bad for anyone who loved Joel and Ellie for years after the first. Because they were done dirty with nothing of substance when it was all over. When Ellie loses her fingers and then Dina and can’t play guitar anymore, I truly thought to myself “so the creators just want you to feel like absolute trash by the end of this.” I loved the depth from the first one. The ability to feel connected to a character. I never had this in this one. The fact that we ultimately learn Ellie and joel were on good terms when he died and that she already knew the truth about the “cure” still didn’t make the story of her savagery at the end compelling. I think the last of us had such a human and even merciful feel at its core. We couldn’t help but bond with them. And that died in part 2. In the last of us part 2, the last of us truly died.… Expand

    It's like a street thug appears with a baseball in Infinity War right at the beginning and beats the crap out of Stark...and he dies. I know it's GOTY, most awarded game, blah blah and other **** But I think I was generous enough to give it a 2/10, maybe because of a 10/10 prequel.

I found it insulting to my (player's) intelligence when the game assumes you are easily impressionable and haven't made any ethical thinking on your own in your life. I don't need a elementary school grade lecture from any medium. If I were, I wouldn't play Last of Us and instead would go and read Aesop's fables which have more subtlety in writing. But this game shows that life in a post apocalyptic world is not all ponies and roses, it’s a nightmare. It shows you that there’s a price to pay for revenge and the actions you take. But I believe that the way they told the story could have been better. They shouldn’t have killed Joel so soon in the game and at least tried to make Abby a more bearable character.… Expand

The SJW agenda is immense, and it absolutely does detract from the story. Gratuitous lesbian sex scenes along with completely unrelated storyline about a persecuted transgender character that clogs up hours of the game.

    But that's not even why the game isn't fun. The combat is better than it was in the last game by far, but the writing is so self absorbed that it forgot it was a video game. You will barely be able to play it because the game keeps taking you out of the action to show you hourlong flashback sequences about characters you despise, but the writer thinks you should care about. The relationship between Joel and Elle in the first game developed naturally over the course of the campaign, while this story immediately goes "here is Dina, a bisexual Jewish woman who can tell you about the holocaust, please like her"

    The pacing is the worst I've ever experienced in a game, and it makes the idea of a second playthrough torturous. Dont make the same mistake I did. Go buy a different game that's actually fun.    … Expand

    Game play is old, not much new, Beautiful visuals and thats all the good things.

Since the plot really disappointed me, well, he doesn’t get to the right level of Naughty Dog. They can do better and we know that, we believe in them and will believe. Why score 7 points out of 10? 1. Graphics - this is not earthly delight for the eyes, I give it 9 out of 10. 2. The development of details, and very small details ... it's something wonderful, it's nice to look at it, the Naughty Dog team really tried and it shows, they are cool guys . I will put 10 out of 10 to this aspect. 3. Living characters. All characters of the game are living, and individuals, with their problems, experiences, characters and desires. You are not indifferent to anyone. This aspect deserves 10/10. 4. Game mechanics. This part of the game is also worked out beautifully, but there are some bugs, but everything is fixable. The most enjoyable mechanic for me is crafting items and playing the guitar. This aspect gets 8 points out of 10. 5. The plot. This is the most painful and weak point of the game, the loss of Joel ... Ellie did not take revenge on her father’s killer, but released her. Okay, let's say and imagine Ellie got what she wanted, killed Abby. I returned to my girlfriend Dina and her little son, and found that she was not at home and Dina disappeared with the baby, and here we would have penetrated Ally more than what happened in the original, because Ally had a family and love of her life, but her one act of revenge - erased all that was ... Я долго думал над оценкой для этой игры, изначально я склонялся к уверенной 7ке, но после 3го акта, а именно слитой(по моему мнению) концовки - оценка опустилась до 6 баллов. Если использовать сто бальную систему - то она заслуживает 63 балла.
    Однако если оценивать игру по актам, то оценка будет другой. 1й акт (от начала до сцены в театре включительно) - уверенные 75 баллов из 100. 2й акт (игра за Эбби) мне показался скучным, его хотелось спидранить, что для игры такого уровня однозначно минус. 55 баллов из 100. 3й акт, завершение, начинался не плохо, нам показали что жизнь Элли идёт своим путем, они с каждым Диной как и хотели переехали на ферму, но саму Элли мучают кошмары, из-за того что она не совершила месть, но хорошее начало было слито ужасным концом. 40 из 100    … Expand

    If you're thinking of buying it, I would recommend waiting for a promo, since it don't have that much replayability, or if you want to play it because of the story, maybe think if you want to pay for it or just watch some series on youtube    … Expand

Shows how the writer hated these characters from the first game. The story is so forced and the politics is so obvious. The game play is similar to the first game with some improvements but I think giving so much options in the settings is confusing. It made me ask continuously throughout the entire game what the best settings are. I did not play the game for the graphics. I wanted to know what happened to Joel's and Ellie's story after the first game. Players ARE NOT GIVEN OPTIONS to get at least some branching story arcs.     -La publicidad falsa en los trailers me molesto mucho, y no me importa si lo hace Marvel Studios, el boleto para una pelicula no cuesta lo mismo que un videojuego, creo que es de las pocas ocasiones en que lo que se ve en los trailers me gusta mucho mas que el producto final
    -La muerte de Joel ocurre de una forma bastante incoherente a comparacion de lo que eran los personajes en el primer juego, dudo mucho que Tommy hubiera dado su nombre, y Joel definitivamete no hubiera dado el suyo, es mas, creo que hasta es muy dificil pensar que ayudaria a una completa desconocida solo por que si, aparte de que ambos dan sus nombres en la cabaña de un grupo armado, asi que ese seria uno de mis problemas, la muerte de Joel ocurre de una manera a mi parecer bastante forzada
    -Te ponen a usar a Abby justo en el climax del juego, el punto mas emocionante de la historia, se corta a negro para ponerte a usar a la asesina de Joel, que en mi caso me resulto imposible empatizar con ella, su razon de matar a Joel es por la muerte de su papa, un NPC que no aparece ni dos minutos en el primer juego, y algunas partes de su historia me parecio que fueron relleno, no veia la hora de acabar de jugar con ella, se me hizo realmente tedioso, y su historia en lugar de hacer que empatizara con ella me hizo odiarla aun mas, tuvo relaciones con Owen que ya estaba con Mel para ese entonces, estando Mel embarazada y siendo esta una de las amigas de Abby y ademas traiciono a su grupo en el que llevaba años solo para salvar a Lev, no ha habido personaje en un videojuego o pelicula que haya odiado mas que a Abby
    -El final he visto que deja muchos puntos de vista diferentes, respetables por supuesto, en mi caso hubiera preferido que el final fuera decision libre, matar a Abby o no, que el jugador decidir el destino final.
    Le doy el 6 por los demas apartados, graficos, banda sonora, gameplay, todo eso esta muy bien,lo que si me disgusto toalmente fue la historia

    There were good acting moments but they were lost among the mess of the cinematics which couldn't be connected in a master class way as expected. I appreciate the game side and the efforts that had been put in, but I can't respect the story elements which is a vital part of TLOU and this is unfortunately disappointing...

    Bottom line that it's a must have from the technical perspective, but definitely not as TLOU fan.    … Expand

Это было великолепное приключение которое закончилось хеппи-эндом. Я даже не думал о возможности продолжения. История была законченной. Я ждал от naugty dog продолжений Uncharted, но никак не Одних из нас. Зачем? Вы хотели прочитать мораль игрокам, как родители? Надменно показав, что плохо, а что хорошо? Дело все в том, что почти все игроки не согласны с вашим видением истории. После прохождения первой части, я знал, что Джоел добрый и он любит Элли. И да, многие моменты вы сделали верно. В финальной драке я не хотел убивать Эбби. Я продолжал жать кнопку, но неосознанно тянул стик назад, как бы оттягивая Элли. И финальная фраза 'Я вряд ли смогу тебя простить". Это говорила не наша, всеми любимая Элли. Это говорили вы, надменные моралисты, которые пытались дать мне какой то урок. Неужели Элли не понимала что Джоел ее любит?     Gamepl is the same old 30 third person shooter on a controller, A.I are still stupid.
    None of the character are likable, they managed to turn Ellie into a complete dumb lunatic.

    This game is worth 10/10 on graphics, the graphics improvements very obvious, but did I just pay 59 dollars for the graphics?

    2.Disgusting stroy, how much you like The Last of US, how much you will hate this one

    3.To be honest, i can accpet Joel's death, but not in such stupid way !! remember in TLOU1 ? Joel figured out the hunters when he drives the car, at the first sight, and , in part2, he went into these well-trained, armed strangers' base ? Even Ellie knew not to tell her name to a stranger, why Tommy will tell everything ?

I just can't understand how people can hate aus game so much.. yes joels death seems kinda underwhelming and i god yes how i hated abby at times.. but to be honest in the great picture no game told a so intense story like TLOU2 and in my opinion it is an absolute masterpiece… Expand

    The game has chosen surprise instead of creativity. Too many action, weak, very very weak story, and without a soul its just boring. Stopped playing after 8-10 hours.

El no merecia una muerte como esa , pudieron habernos un juego glorioso encambio por ser inclusivos nos dieron un juego con un final mediocre , respeto la idea de matar no es la solucion pero matarlo asi fue un desperdicio para la trama , pudo morir protegiendo a ellie o tratando de enmendar sus errores egoistas y ellue de ahi sacar el coraje para salir adelante y no solo matar a medio mundo para al finar no matar a quien deberia.… Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
