The Last of Us Part 2 is a technical masterpiece, right up there with titles such as Red Dead Redemption 2 and God of War. The amount of attention to detail gone into the game is astonishing. The game does have pacing issues which in my opinion prevents part 2 from being the near flawless experience. Everything else however is 10/10 in my eyes from the environments and level design to the graphics and animations. The story is a lot longer than the first game (32 hours for me to complete) but it needs to be as there are a multitude of complex characters, all with their own story to tell and by the end of the game you really feel for each of them in true Naughty Dog fashion. The gameplay and sound/music continue where they left from the first game and really help set the tone for an incredibly dark, gritty and an emotionally exhausting experience.
This game makes you question everything that you thought you already knew. One of the definitive games of the generation and probably of all time.

PS4 slim. Технически – игра супер. Было пару багов, но в целом геймплей топ. Чувствуется прогресс по сравнению с первой частью. Сюжет неоднозначный. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Story:

Let's start chronological with the Prologue. I think the Prologue is the weakest point in the games story. A prologue should introduce the player to the characters and story, sadly this prologue fails to do so. All the new characters stay rather bland, even Dina, besides you spend around an hour with her. Also Abby seems rather bland, while she is not when you play her later, she only hates Joel. Why? Who knows.

So: Joel dies by Abbys Hand. Many people complained that Joel says his name which is out of character with the first game. Yes, this looks like it at first glance, again the prologue fails to explain backgrounds, you only the get puzzle pieces late in the story, like a conflict with Ellie and probable knowledge that a group hunts the both down. I think Joel sacrificed himself to save Ellie, thinking if they got him, they won't chase after Ellie. The last good deed he could do, to make her forgive.

However after the prologue the story gets stronger and stronger. The writing is excellent! You play 3 days as Ellie with Dina and Jesse on your side, searching for Abbys group and then the past 3 days as Abby from her perspective.

You learn all the characters emotions and reasons, though you probably never really agree with their actions. You understand them, but you might not agree with them. This is where the story gets so strong as it organically avoids a black and white thinking. There are no heroes and no bad guys, only humans driven by emotions like hate, revenge, love, sadness etc.

You see both "sides" and you learn to like all the characters. You not agree with their actions sometimes, but you understand... It's really a roller coaster of emotions. Brilliant writing, can't explain it otherwise!

The Epilogue and ending also show how much hate and revenge can destroy you and your relationships. The relationship Ellie built with Dina is destroyed over the fact Ellie can't let loose and have to hunt after Abby again, in the end leaving her alive, like she did in Seattle. Coming home, Dina gone, Ellie lost 2 fingers can't really play guitar anymore, the guitar Joel gifted to her.

Really excellent writing! Prologue a bit weak, some later cutscenes should appear here, but keep going and you get rewarded with an amazing story!

Also if you think there is some agenda here, you didn't understood the story one bit. The game more shows of violence is causing even more violence and how it and revenge and hate can destroy people.

Also Abby is not said nor mentioned to be LGTB. Not sure where this got from, but only because she is muscular, means she is LGTB? I think not.

    Gameplay:

Definitely a huge improvement to the first game. They took the first games gameplay and expanded it. You have more upgrades, more weapons and more possibilities to deal with enemies. Stealth and Combat are better to do, the encounter areas are bigger allowing for more ways and possibilities. Also you can now climb, swim and dive.

While the game at it's core is still a pretty linear game, there is a hub area at the start and in general the levels are bigger as ever before. Encounters go very fluent into each other, while you walk around, explore and try to find the right way to go. Also you should explore to not only get collectibles, but also training manuals, useful items, upgrades and new weapons.

A little downside is, that there are not much differences between Ellie and Abby. They have different weapons, but with exception of 2-3 weapons, they feel the same. Even the upgrades are more or less the same, just in different orders and skill trees. Movement is the same as well.

Nonetheless so far the best Gameplay in a Naughty Dog game and definitely on par with other excellent AAA titles.

    Graphics:

Do i really have to say something here? Amazing Textures, Models, Levels and Animations. Really an eye to detail. It looks gorgeous! Watch a trailer, what you see there, is in the game 1:1.

    Sound / Music:

Perfect as well. Amazing sound design and amazing music tracks, still have a few in my head. Better as the first game as well, the composer really did an amazing job and surpassed his work of the first game!

    In the end:

While the Prologue is the weakest point, The Last of Us Part 2 is an amazing game. The Story is really amazing, no "agenda" to be found, as said, if you see such a thing you didn't understood the story or outright didn't played the game.

Besides that Gameplay, Graphics and Sound / Music are on amazing levels and the Game is just awesome! Play it!

I give it a 9 / 10. Despite the weak prologue, the game is a masterpiece.

Don't let the short-sighted anti-LGBT community dissuade you from what is arguably one of the greatest sequels for a video game ever made next to Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age: Inquisition, RDR2 and more! While the game's gameplay is fairly similar to part 1, the fact of the matter is that they've improved the enemy AI tenfold, added quite a few mechanics to the game as well as a new and interesting way to explore the environments around you.

Honestly, people hate on the game because they expected another Joel and Ellie story ala Uncharted but instead got **** by the creators of the game and instead went with a multi-perspective take on life in this world and how pointless a revenge quest is in the first place! If you can't grasp the greatness of the game over shortsighted issues, then you aren't looking at the bigger picture at all! This is one of the greatest games I've ever played and would recommend it to anyone I meet!

It is a technically speaking game, the gameplay is good, it has wonderful graphics, some beautiful scenes, beautiful music, the problem with the game is the story. It had a very strange course, characters dying for free, the joel's death was very meaningless, the joel from the first game would never die like that, it is a game but with a very controversial story.

Needless to say I really wanted to play this game, I never preorder games. So rewind to when game previews came out. They're saying "it's bleak and not a fun game but it's not suppose to be. Yada yada all that jazz."I watched a few of those but one preview made a really good observation without really spoiling the game for me. I think it was IGN, I'm not sure, but the preview said you, as Ellie, and your crew are not the good guys in this game. As a matter of fact, I will take a step further and say there are no good guys in this game. Just people doing bad things that are not as bad as the other people doing bad things. Everyone does everything they do to survive so can you really say there's a lot of room for morality in a video game with a the backdrop of revenge like this? Every decision has a consequence and that comes tenfold in this game. Anyway that little tidbit alone got me personally excited to play this game. Now I'm not a hypercritical person so I thoroughly enjoyed the story and the game. I'm not saying there aren't plot holes and bugs and AI incompetence. Those things exist. I am saying it wasn't enough to draw me out of the game and stopped me from wanting to see it to the end. By the end of the game I was as exhausted as the characters and I felt like we both just wanted to see an end. And when that end came I wanted more so I hopped on the remastered and booted up Factions. Can't wait for that to drop or any DLC for TLOU2. I recommend you to play it and let your opinions be the ones that guide you. If you liked the first one you owe it to yourself to give this one a shot. Expand

Let me start by saying TLOU 1 is one of my ( top 3 ) favorite games of all time. top tier character development and story telling that kept me coming back for more and getting me into all the feels. if you're looking for the same in part 2 do your self a favor and listen to everyone else who made the mistake and do not buy!!

to elaborate on the scores given above, the graphics ( im playing on a ps4 pro ) are amazing from the water, to the hair, to the grass the textures are on point and everything is smooth as butter. the score fits in right along with the game with no complaints in this section. definitely a beauty of a game.

the game play hasn't changed much since the first game which really didn't do this game any favors. repetitive combat, no puzzles, linear levels and mashing the square button when anything goes wrong. really left you wanting more and felt out dated.

and here we go for the story, oh boy its so bad i don"t even really know where to begin lets start with the forced politics in this game. no im not homophobic and i dont hate trans people but those characters were 100 percent forced into the series. people play video games to escape real world bull****. how ever that is not what even made this game so bad. Ellie and Joel have completely lost their personality and make decisions they otherwise wouldn't have made in the first game leading to things like joels death and many other poor choices along the way. all the new characters are introduced with little to no character development and then are killed off and you're expected to feel something? a little over half way through the game you are forced to play as Abby who i ( and many many others ) could care less about and they force you to try and feel bad about the decisions you previously made. i really wanted to put the game down at this point but i forced myself to keep going. after hours of pushing through the "revenge" story you've been playing all along is for nothing because all of a sudden Ellie has a change of heart and simply lets joels killer walk? because revenge is bad?? what a joke. bottom line this game destroyed the legacy the first game built, and everything you knew and loved through poor story telling and piss poor writing. essentially it is the season 8 game of thrones of video games. i wish i could erase this game from my memory, and i can see why half the studio left in the making.

I've played all the uncharted games, and TLOU is my favourite ever game, and I've been playing video games for decades. When I heard all the rumours about TLOU2, I was really concerned and disappointed. I very nearly didn't buy the game, for fear of it ruining my experience of the first game. In the end I decided to trust in naughty dog based on their track record, and I decided to accept one particular early plot point I had heard about.

In doing this, having the mindset not to resist the story, revealed the game, and its a remarkable one, but its also very tough to play at times. Characters you like are questioned and you are questioned about characters you don't like. There are many twists and you find yourself often doing things you originally wanted to do that now you don't, and the game doesn't really hold and punches. At the end of it, you feel kind of like you are left holding lose ends and it takes a while to process the whole thing, but I really do think that naughty dog have created something as profound as the first game. Ironically, given the themes, there are some that are unable to question what they think and feel, and their reaction is hate - which to me is life imitating art.

I really hope that naughty dog find a way to round off some of the edges for these people (i think a very vocal minority) in some DLC - I sort of see why they feel as they do but i think it's for emotional reasons not rational ones - because I want a final game. TLOU1 sat well on its own, TLOU2 doesn't - it's the dark second chapter in a trilogy with an uplifting end. To end on the notes of TLOU2 would be deeply sad and hugely unsatisfying.

When I got to Abby I just wanted to speed run because you know. You do eventually though get to empathise for her. It’s not enough though. Lev was a character I grew to love and hope to see more of. Lev saved the second half of the game in my opinion. Expand

And YES I loved the story, all actions produce an equal and opposite reaction. It couldn't be any other way.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game was to me exactly what I was expecting, a sequel on an existing story, staying true to the original lure and deviating enough to be new. I actually liked the story, it made me contemplate the cycle of vengeance and it's futility. I thought it was daring to depict the story from both sides, blurring the line between "good guys" and "bad guy". By the end of the game the fight between Ellie and Abby was a representation of the conflict within myself. And I love that. I thought it was daring to include a same sex relationship and go even beyond that (where funny enough nobody is talking about). I believed in the love story and that rare in videogames, usually I cringe. Not so in the Last of Us II.

I liked the characters, yes also the new ones. I didn’t mind playing as the new character. I would even go so far as saying that without the switch in playable character it would not have felt as special as it does now. But I must admit that besides the handful of main characters, the others will fade from my memory soon enough. But a handful is enough for me.

The gameplay has not changed which is a shame. And dont get me started about aiming; I could not for the life of me find a sensitivity setting which I could comfortly work with.

The length of the game was no issue for me. Usually if I like a game I will spend hundreds (if not thousands) of hours playing it. So 25-30 hours, it will always seem to short to me.

For me the Last of Us II gets a solid 8/10

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game on a technical level is phenomenal- the fights are fluid and intense, the atmosphere for each area hits the nail on the head. The story has it’s ups and downs (mostly ups.)

Abby was an excellently executed character, while I feel at times the pacing of events could have been better, the story by the end felt quite fulfilling despite it being controversial. At first, I hated playing as Abby due to what she did to Tommy, Jessie and of course Joel- but as I played as her I gradually began to like her more and even went on to like her more than Ellie. This was momentarily however, as after switching back to Ellie I fell right back into her story and my love for the character was rejuvenated. I think that’s why I think the game is great, as it played with my feelings for characters a lot.

Some of the problems I had was some of the pacing, how Joel and Jesse were dealt with and the separation I felt this game had from the first.

I think this game feels more of a standalone masterpiece rather than a sequel to the masterpiece that was the first.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game is amazing when Joel & Ellie are on screen, but the other characters just aren’t interesting even though the game wants them to be. Instead of fleshing out the tattered relationship between Joel & Ellie, we get snippets of it and a whole lot of forced emotional moments that just don’t hit home. We haven’t traveled with these characters enough to care when they eventually die. Key characters make a return from the original and play little to no part here. Tommy is held to yet another small role that makes an occasional appearance just to remind you here’s still around. Joel’s role is pretty much a whipping post for Ellie’s emotions. He’s scalded for 95% of his screen time and doesn’t really ever explain why he did what he did to Ellie in person. Instead, we are forced into SJW warfare with lesbian, woman-power, men suck and must die injected into our eyeballs for most of the game. Although, the game isn’t bad it just doesn’t hold up to the original story-wise. Gameplay wise is a different story. The mechanics are expanded and work well. The game is intense and brutal as expected. Although, Ellie and Abby control virtually the same which is a big disappointment considering the vastly different styles portrayed in the great cutscenes. Lastly, the soundtrack just doesn’t have the heart and feeling of the original. When you heard the original soundtrack you felt everything the composer wanted you to feel. Here the soundtrack is virtually absent outside of a few moments. I will say the song Joel sings at the beginning really packs a emotional punch, but ND Ruins it by going back to it several times during the game. Expand

In a nutshell: within the first few hours our hero Joel gets bludgeoned to death, by what appears to be a transgender girl/guy? While our Heroine Ellie is forced to watch without being able to save him. That killed the game for me, PERIOD! The Creators of this game Fooled us into thinking this was going to be a continuation of Joel and Ellie's adventure by using false media hype. Then to add insult to injury, the game halfway through Forces you to play as the transgender girl/guy that killed Joel and is now trying to kill Ellie. What?! No? Yes! that's the story arc. At this point I stopped playing. Tried to get a refund but PSN won't refund if the game was started. So now I'm not only heartbroken but angry as well. The Graphics are just Beautiful. the Art team did a great job. But it's unfortunate that the the writers Destroyed the the game for the fans. I accuse the developer of Fraud here. Oh How could they Have made such a masterpiece as The Last of Us 1. then turned around and produced such banal trash as The Last of Us 2. The story is what defines this game and splits the players: its dark and yes, sometimes you dont even like to play, but its meant to be this way! Its part of the story to be angry and the game is making the player feel this way. The important word is empathy: if you are able to empathize with the characters the ending of the game will be incredible. You will be sad of what happened, but as written before, its meant to be a harsh and dark game.
The Last of Us Part II is not a sequel, it just shows all bad things that occured because of the actions from the Original to us and with all consequences. Only if you are able to let the story change your mind and how pointless this whole brutality and revenge is, you will understand the ending. If you have an open mind and good moral, you will see the deeper meaning of this game. Then you learned something and you can go on forward, like Ellie does in the end :)

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Last Of Us Part II is a good game, story wasn't as powerful as the first installment and killing Joel was a huge disappointment but at the same time I can understand why Neil Druckmann made that decision to let Ellie's character and story evolve. You also get to play as Abby and Naughty Dog tried to make you see her side of the story and understand there is no good guys in Last Of Us, however I'm too stubborn and Joel is one of my all time favorite characters so she can go suck a d***. Also the other side characters aren't very likable. Dina is a pain. Mel is a whiny b****, Manny isn't funny and Owen is one of the most vanilla characters.

The graphics are way ahead of it's time and I did have fun playing this game. My huge problem with it is the ending. The ending made the whole game pointless and gave Abby the better ending compared to Ellie. I would of rather the ending have been a dream like Dallas and Joel is still alive.

Was it the game I wanted? Graphics 100% Controls and Crafting 100% even the world they had from the original was 100% but if tweaks had been made to the storyline then this game would of been a proud sequel to one of the greatest games ever made.

ND gave fans the perspective that this is a revenge story with Joel and Ellie on the journey and the only playable character is Ellie.
ND talked about how this game is about honouring Joel and Ellie which is not true at all. They completely changed the last of us for the sake of telling a dark conflicted profound story but the execution was not good. If you love the characters in the 1st game, i recommend you not to play it cuz it is so disrespectful to fans. If you want a conflicting morale story with politics included, you may enjoy it. Even then you will find the pacing of the game bad and your interest in playing it will decline and you would just want to see the ending which is unsatisfying making the whole story and new game + pointless.

The game director said fun is not a word to describe the last of us 2 so if you are looking for a fun game, this is not it.

You might like characters but you will find it pointless to cuz of the story.

The gameplay , graphics, mechanics, voice acting are all amazing but the story fails and the last of us 1 was known for its beautiful story.

If you love tlou1 characters especially, let their story in your mind end there. If you are curious ,watch on youtube Joel confession to Tommy and Joel sings to Ellie, Ellie's museum birthday, Joel and Ellie guitar strings , Joel confession to Ellie,Joel Jackson party, Ellie talks about Joel decision.

Watch it in the this order.

If you love and care about the Joel Ellie Tommy relationship , do not play TLOU2.

A few minor quibbles keeps it from being a ten (e.g., it’s a little dark, there’s too many human enemies to infected enemies). Overall, Naughty Dog knocked it out of the park.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The disappointment coming from the last of us part 2 is huge. In my opinion the game deserves a 4/10 or a 6/10 at best. That from it's stunning graphics and for its new mechanics. After that the story is bad, it could have been way better. There's a million ways to rewrite the story to make it better, but it is what it is. The death of Joel could have been a very interesting and good way to set the story but the way it was handled made it just be there for the shock value that it would give. His death is at the beginning of the game, a couple hours in. If his death would have been after we have had some sort of empathy to the new character Abby, and we would have known her backstory maybe the story would have been great. Also, if we had gotten Abby and Ellie to grow close and then she finds out who Joel is would have served better to the story, or to have a situation were Abby is the one who has to be conflicted because she has grown close to them. Then we could have seen a way better death for Joel and give it more meaning to Ellie who just the night before had told Joel that she wanted to forgive him. Joel's death was handled the worst way possible, Tommy and Joel are portrayed way dumber than in the first game. They fall right into their trap and notice until Joel gets shot in the knee. The characters that we now from the first game are smart and would have never fall in this sort of trap. The Tommy and Joel from the first game would have had their hands on their guns from the moment they got off their horses because they don't trust these new guys. In the first game you have the scene with the hunters where Joel doesn't hesitate to run over the guy that was "injured". Additionally, we see Joel throughout the flashbacks and he hasn't forgotten how to deal with the infected. Then when Ellie sets out to get revenge over Joel's death, that part of the game was good. But after Abby surprises you at the theater they kill off Jesse who was a great character and deserved better as did Joel. In that moment you get a cliffhanger in which seems that Abby is going to kill Ellie and you transition to Abby's backstory. I felt like i didn't give a **** about the game anymore. I was going to play as Abby who killed one of my favorite characters in video games. Then you get the 10+ hours of game play as Abby that feels like a bunch of side quests and pointless **** that you have to do. There are some cool set pieces like the one where you're going on the horse through the town that is on fire. But at that moment I still didn't care about what could happen to Abby. After that we come back to the present at the theater and proceed to chase Ellie as Abby and beat her down. In this section of the game I would have liked for the game to have alternate endings. One that would let you kill Abby as Ellie in the theater. Also, how did it cross their minds that I as a player would be rooting for Abby when we have had Ellie since the first game and have been loving her character from then on. So in the game you have to chase Ellie down as Abby and beat the ever-living **** out of Ellie and Dina. It breaks my that this game had screwed over Ellie and Joel as much as it did. I get the approach but how are you going to make me try and emphasize with Abby when she killed a beloved character. The last part of game play I think was there because they wanted to make the game longer. Elie looses her family for going after Abby again and at that point the game felt good again, the story bothered me but playing as Ellie again gave me certain happiness. But the final boss battle against Abby feels good and the best they could have for the game. But what doesn't make sense is Ellie's decision to let Abby go. She had come all this far killing everyone in her path and at last she let's Abby go. I get that she remembered Joel and that he probably wouldn't have wanted this but this doesn't fit as the Ellie we have been playing. After losing two fingers in the battle with Abby she goes back home. At this point she tries to play the guitar, the only thing that's left from Joel and she can't play it. The flashback here is very good. This on and the one in the museum are very good but after that we come back to reality where Ellie has lost everything and that's were the game ends. This **** up story tries make Joel the bad guy by trying to emphasize with Ellie. That with the first game is a bad idea because we know Joel isn't a saint and we get to know the old Joel who has done terrible things to survive. In spite of that we still love him and Ellie, so this game doesn't work from that aspect. I truly was saying at the beginning this is going to be great, and throughout saying maybe it will better but it doesn't. We waited seven years for this game and we got a beautiful and stunning game with okay controls and a story as bad as it could get. to me the first game didn't need a sequel and it ended where it should have. My disappointment is huge. Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Where to even begin with this one. I’ll start with I was so inclined to get my thoughts about this game out, that I created a Metacritic account. So here goes;

The Last of Us 2 feels as pretentious as it is shallow. It’s a slog of murder porn mixed with a paint by numbers “violence begets violence” plot that you can see coming from a mile away. It forces characters upon you that you’re clearly supposed to care about, but how can you when they’re so paper thin? Think of Star Wars in recent years - those types of characters they introduce and you’re immediately supposed to love them without any real reasoning.

I won’t say I didn’t enjoy some of my time with the game because I did...albeit that was very early on in the experience before the rinse repeat style gameplay just became a slog. Here’s what you’ll be doing throughout TLOU2; Cutscene>Walk around corridor area with dialogue>collect ammo/upgrades/craft ales/collectibles>walk through invisible barrier that spawns enemies into sandbox arena (sometimes a second enemy encounter after the first). Then you repeat them in some fashion. And that’s it.

While on the subject - the pacing isn’t very good. It starts out a bit slow then ramps up quickly...but by the time the first act is wrapping up you’ll have seen more cutscenes than are in most games. It’s not Metal Gear level but you’ll need to keep in mind you’re watching this game as much as you are playing it.

The plot - shallow and boring. Your basic violence is bad and nobody wins story. After a while, the shock factor just kind of loses all impact and it becomes almost comically overdone. Once you’ve committed your 10000th murder with the ol camera zoom in effect with an enemy with his face falling off it just sorta loses it’s impact, you know? And on the subject - that final fight with Ellie vs. Abby I was rolling my eyes and laughing. You can literally FEEL the Tryhard oozing from your screen throughout the entire experience and by the end you’re just beaten over the head with it. Abby’s dad was the surgeon from part 1...I’m sure the writers stayed up countless nights coming up with that mind altering twist. Barf.

Characters - anything lovable or redeemable about the original characters has been stripped away and reduced them to one dimensional murder beasts. Joel is probably the most likable out of the bunch and we all know what happens to him early on. Well, if you don’t take into account the constant flashback scenes that are peppered throughout the game which serve no value other than a masking the fact they wanted to include yet another cutscene. Owen’s voice acting sounds like the dude was sedated while recording. His delivery was the most bland, uninspiring bit of dialogue I’ve heard in a video game in a while. And all of Abby’s crew including herself we’re supposed to feel for and connect with and why? Just because.

The actual gameplay was fun for a bit until you realize just how uninspired and easy it really is. It’s a sandbox style arena encounter with multiple enemies where you get to take them out how ever you’d like. Guns blazing, quietly, or anywhere in between. There are other games that have done this type of combat so much better and by the end you realize you can just lay in the grass and murder everyone because the enemy AI is absolutely atrocious.

What you’re left with at the end of the day is a really gorgeous looking and sounding game. This aspect was a total homerun and I sincerely hope those that worked on these aspects of the game could see and hear this. The visual and audio fidelity in this game is second to none on the PS4 and there were times in which my brain was having a hard time remembering this was a video game I was looking at. Bravo to those groups! If I was basing my score on just these two aspects it would be 11 out of 10!

Unfortunately, the story, the gameplay, the characters all fell flat on their faces and not just fell, but down the stairs breaking every bone in their body until they were a bloody heaping mess (to keep in theme with this game). Feels like the creative vision of TLOU2 was to make a movie rather than a game, I mean we did have a gratuitous sex scene in there after all (yet again, I laughed during this...) so perhaps those directors can talk to HBO and see if they can start their movie or TV series production careers. They obviously are more concerned about this than making a video game that’s fun, meaningful, and doesn’t come off as contrived. It feels more like a fanfiction than a true sequel to the original game.

I think TLOU2 is a clear example of what happens when a creative team’s head gets overinflated due to past successes and loses sight of their core audience. It’s a real shame too because they had such a great opportunity here, but squandered it we can only assume to make a point. But what in the hell was that point exactly?

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This was a dissapointment. Not because I expected a full fan-service game where Joel and Ellie would roam the world happy together, but because of the simplistic, naive and really Preachy writing that provides the player with zero choices (e.g. alternate endings) and zero critical thinking: it feels as if there is just someone that yells "ohh look how bad revenge is", "how can you do that" the whole time you play.

The story does not have a steady pace, the dialogues are cringy and the characters (especially the secondary ones) seem to have lost their depth ad complexity (nothing like Bill, Sam, David or Riley of the first game).
Joel and Tommy are completely out of character (They say their names to the strangers in the first minutes, really???) and Joel's death is just anticlimactic for the shock-value of it no build-up, nothing.

We are forced to play as Abby, a character that the game reeally insists we have to like and sympathise with (some manipulative tricks here are ridiculous- see repetitive dog-petting while Ellie only kills dogs) and her gameplay takes up about 10-12 hours, almost half of the game, at a timing where there is so much anguish for what will happen to Ellie, that you simply want to be done with it and rush it. There were zero references on that aspect of the game, a really sneaky move by Naughty Dog, probably because they would be afraid of backlash that would reduce pre-orders.

Lastly, the ending is ridiculous. No closure, no revenge, Abby gets away after having commited her revenge, while Ellie regrets it and loses everything nonetheless. I wouldn't mind if both protagonists died and we got to see a more Shakespearean ending of nemesis for the so called circle of violence; that would at least be interesting. Instead, we get another anticlimactic moment and a mild hint for a part-three, that will be depended on the sales of the second one I am sure. Pity.

Graphics, Audio and Gameplay are all superb as is the voice-acting which is brilliantly tied into the facial expressions and emotions of the characters themselves making them very realistic. A special mention for the groundbreaking accessibility options that allow this game to be enjoyed by a much wider audience. My hat goes off to Naughty Dog for this. Unfortunately, that’s it for the good things about this game.

LOTU I was a masterpiece because the story centred on the evolving relationship between Joel and Ellie who, in turn, both grew in our affections. We waited 7 years to continue the story with those characters who were close to our heart, then what happens? Not only does Joel get brutally murdered so early on but we are forced to play as his killer for half the game. Any attempt by ND to try and get us to empathise with Abby just fails miserably at this point and the motivation to continue playing the game just drops drastically. The final insult is the highly unsatisfactory ending to, what is overall, a very grim and depressing story which I have no desire to play through again.

In short, the game had everything we wanted but the story.

The gameplay is mostly the same as the first game. If you liked that gameplay, you'll like it here too. The few additions, the jump button and the dodging mechanic honestly just serve to make the combat and exploration feel a tad wonky, but they're harmless. Everyone's already bashed this story and characters and I hold many similar reservations. And no, I am not homophobic or transphobic. Last of Us 1 had one of the main characters revealed to be a lesbian, and I took no issue with that. Because the first game cared more about story than gender politics and psuedowoke bs. I don't play games to be preached at, I play for entertainment and to escape the crappy reality of real life. This game fails at that so hard that it shouldn't have even exist. That said, I do NOT condone the fans of the first game sending slurs and death threats to the people involved in this game. Druckman is the person responsible for this awful story, and does deserve to be highly crotized, but not threatened. This game is poor. It has some very beautiful graphics, and is fun to play. But the story is just miserable and not very well written. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Joel's death was more forced in order to make ellie's relationship with dina more meaningful. Why does ellie care so much about dina if they barley got together the night before. Before that dina was dating Jesse. Even though they knew each other for about 6 years that was pure friendship. Your telling me ellie is more worried about some girl she just hooked up with the night before. She acts like the events from the first game never happened. But with some random girl that lives in the town who barley shows interest in ellie, ellie feels the need to side track and try to find what their relationship means. If anything Dina should be the one who worries about their relationship and ellie should just be focused on her mission because she knows dina has been with Jesse already and there's no telling if they have feelings for each other still. Ellie should just brush her off. Dina is just all over the place because her and jesse were off and on again in their relationship. You mean to tell me that in the 6 years that they known each other dina never got with any other girl. She just magically had feelings for ellie. Ellie's dialogue doesn't really match with her thoughts. Too uplifting, reminds me of the first one which should be totally different from this one. The characters talk about too many things from the first one. Ellie isn't cold hearted enough in some sequences where you think she would be. Ellie's interrogation scene reminds you of Joel's which you wouldn't want. You would want something more brutal. Trying too hard to make Dina important. Reason for Joel's death could have been better. Feel like they just threw in the story of her being at the hospital just to justify her reason but I would believe a bunch of fireflies trying to save the world wouldn't let anybody bring kids. You can't really feel sorry for any of abby's friends or father. Trying too hard to really make abby a likable character which truly is so bad. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Instead of just looking at all the negative responses to this game I've played through it at my own pace. Their are a few things I liked and others i did not. Heard about other people quitting playthroughs at about the 3 hour mark in this game, as most of you are aware a new character is introduced and happens to kill off a fan favourite from the first. At this point I've not even reached half way through this game so wanted to give it a chance. Anyway the Character in question is Abby and my only criticism of her character is the way her backstory is presented. It should of been introducing her character at the start of the game whilst swapping between her story up until the point Joel kills her dad, and Ellie & Joel's Story after the events of the first. We are forced to see Ellie find out the truth though flashback scenes, although great I would of rather find that out whilst exploring with Ellie & Joel and that would of added further ramifications into this game.

The same applies to Abbys story. I feel like even though they may not of done enough in her backstory i would of felt more for Abby if I understood the relationship she had with her dad and why she did what she did earlier in the game but you don't find this out until you've done Ellie's half of the story, thats 12 Bloody Hours. Come On Naughty Dog. Abbys own story then goes on for 12 hrs before a showdown and although I learn a lot about her charcter 12 hrs solely focusing on her im not only bored im genuinely uninterested in her character and the rest of her communities characters

Whatever Naughty Dog wanted me to feel ive not felt. I do not care that Joel Killed Abby's Dad and im supposed to feel something for this character. I really think if this happened later in the game and you understood what Abby did earlier and why I'd still hate the Character for killing a fan favourite but I'd understand her character more and why she did it. Instead you find out from the start and don't understand why until about 12-14hrs into the game. They Pitch this character as a second playable one, why would I care for her story when the first thing she does is kill a fan favourite.

Another issue happens to be Joel, Lets get thing straight Naughty Dog if the apocalypse was real then everyone knows full well that you wouldn't freely go back to her community without question youd take her back to your camp and question her, find out her intentions, not freely follow to then end up dead. Joel is a smart guy in the first game and it's seems like the guy completely forgot the one rule that he lives by in the first never trust anyone but he chooses to trust Abby because of a storm? Really, I mean Really? Come on Man!

Overall my final thought on the game is that its a great fantastic sequel with tension and the story of Ellie wanting revenge but coming out with nothing, no one is their, she's a broken character at the end and that hurts but it's her vengeance that tears everyone away from her and you feel that. A great overall game and story where you feel all the ramifications of your choices as Ellie.

The graphics are cool, the combat controls have been refined, and it's entertaining, but if you loved the original, and you were really invested in the characters and story, you're going to hate it. Not only do they do my man Joel dirty right off the bat, but they try to get you to empathize with his roided-out assailant for ten hours of arduous gameplay. I don't care about Abby.

There are really too many plot holes and contradictions to list here. I couldn't even make it through the game. I was angry the whole time I played it. Not even at the foes I was chasing. I'm angry at Naughty Dog. They ruined it.

It wasn't just the hack writing. They decided to push even harder with the wokeness and social commentary that we really don't want in our stories and games today. I'mm tired of the shoe-horning of cultural politics. It's smashed in face face everywhere now. Of course they have to emasculate Tommy and kill the toxic straight white male from the last game. OF COURSE!

The original TLOU and Left Behind were great! I don't mind strong female characters, nor do I mind homosexuality. But it just feels forced. The sexualizing of this game has just ruined it as well. I don't care for it. It gives it a weird feel.

There are just too many reasons why hate this game, but I'm not normally this disgusted. Can we have games and movies that aren't all about social commentary and shaming men? IDK. Waste of my money.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. From my point of view the game isn't as bad as every one makes it be. To be honest it is a very good representation of real life, and bare with me until i explain my point. In real life bad things happen for no reason, to good people, to bad people, to people we love and hate. Life does not wait until we are ready to face the difficulties if we will ever be.. we have all lost people (sometimes in seemingly unfair and humiliating ways like Joel who deserved a more heroic death but life didn't provide it for him ) who we loved and we all know how devastating searching for reason is in a world without reason, so i respect a game who manages to make me feel so deeply even a terrible feeling as that of losing someone and feeling hopeless and unjust about it. As for the the decisions the characters make throw the game that some times seemed out of character i believe the help to color the humanity of each person, i prefer a character who has inner conflicts of values and desires and because of that are unpredictable rather than a character who is predictable and already fully established. I believe this game is a (sad) piece of art for a different reason than the 1st one, and for sure it does not deserve a 0 . Anyway thanks for taking the time to read this Expand

Assolutamente, ma a me è piaciuta molto.
Complimenti a voi e grazie, grazie davvero.
