    Very forced story, very stupid scenes and in the end it sucks. Graphics and gameplay are great but the story ruined this game

    Yo la verdad pienso que la historia se queda muy corta, los personajes no son acordes al contexto de los mismos hechos lo cual los hace super forzados y como el desarrollo de la trama es tan Predecible se hace muy aburrido y eso sin mencionar el final que es demaciado ordinario y cliché.. Cada quien desperdicia su dinero como quiere.
    Yo lo vendí tras acabarlo para recuperar dinero.

    Jogo incrível, sem grandes bugs, e com um único carregamento longo (quando se inicia o game, de resto o jogo praticamente não tem tela de carregamento) com pouco downgrade em relação aos trailers, que foram recompensados com um ótimo upgrade de iluminação e entre outros. Dou 10/10 pois achei o jogo imensamente injustiçado, esse jogo NUNCA em HIPÓTESE ALGUMA merece menos do que um 7. Tem o seu brilho, é bem desenvolvido e feito claramente com muito carinho pelos desenvolvedores, mas não era muito o que os fãs do primeiro game gostariam de ver, a expectativa toda, que inclusive os trailers nos causavam, era a de uma aventura lado a lado com o Joel, coisa que passou muito longe... Mas jogando o game e deixando isto de lado, tentando levar a história do jeito que o roteiro quer seguir, o jogo é simplesmente excelente, uma obra prima. Recomendo a todos que gostam de jogos singleplayer, com uma ótima narrativa, drama, suspense, violência gráfica acima do padrão, tudo isso junto de uma jogabilidade dinâmica em um mundo pós apocalíptico que te faz se sentir muito bem imerso. The Last of Us não é perfeito, mas jamais merece nota baixa apenas por causa de uma história ou só por fins ideológicos (que o jogo nem foca nesses quesitos de fato). Resumindo, pra mim 9/10 só por causa da história, senão seria 10/10. Apesar de ter dado a nota máxima de fato como "compensação" pela injustiça em cima do jogo.… Expand

    I really enjoyed the game personally. I think the story telling was done really well and the game play was close enough to the original that it didn't feel like a completely different game but still had some of the same flair. I quite frankly don't quite understand why people dislike it so much. Do I think it's as good as the first game? I was really okay with the story, it was sad to see Ellie remaining allone after Naughty Dog introduced Dina to us, who supported Ellie even after she killed Mel and her friend (hoops, just forgot his name at the moment). And then getting into that conflicts of conscience while seeing Abby loosing everyone around her by Ellie, Tommy and co. But as conclusion for me Abby was much worse than Ellie because of killing Joel - for me, he'll never die -

    And as final message: It is the best game, I've ever played and was a worthy conclusion for the ps4 Era (please just forget Cyberpunk, thanks)    … Expand

    Pra mim foi um dos melhores jogos que joguei na minha vida, se é o melhor não sei, mas isso vai da opinião de cada um, acho que pelo conjunto do jogo independente de a história não ter agradado a todos, o jogo é incrivelmente bom, tanto em gráficos, como em gameplay, dentre muitas outras qualidades.

    sinceramente no se muy bien como comenzar esta reseña ya que es la primera reseña que hago en un sitio como este asi que ire directo al grano: despues de haber terminado el juego entiendo por completo el descontento de la gente, llevamos 7 años esperando para poder volver al Universo de The last of us 2 pero mas que eso, muchísimos llevamos esperando 7 años para poder volver a ver a Joel y que despues de jugar simplemente la primera hora Joel muera de una forma tan....patetica me parece una falta de respeto para toda la gente que espero demasiado, en uno de los trailers que vimos el año pasado veiamos como supuestamente el mismo Joel iba a ayudar a Ellie en su aventura, mala fue mi sorpresa al darme cuenta de que esto fue cambiado reemplazando a Joel por Jesse, sinceramente eso me molesto mucho. me senti sumamente engañado, yo personalmente esperaba que Joel fuese un compañero que te ayudase en la aventura tal como lo hacen Dina y Jesse en el juego actual. asi que personalmente pienso que si Joel tenia que morir para dar pie a la aventura de ellie al menos merecia morir de una forma digna, al menos dando la pelea pero no, simplemente le dan con una escopeta en la pierna y despues le revientan la cabeza con un palo de golf....lamentable que un personaje tan bueno como Joel muera de forma tan patetica.

    punto numero 2: Abby

    si hay algo que me molesto sumamente en The last of us 2 fue Abby, por que? simple, estoy seguro de que la gran mayoria cuando vimos de que abby mato a Joel en el juego todos sentimos unas ganas de matarla enormes y de hecho ese es el objetivo de la aventura por ende me parece una ridiculez y una pésima decision que a partir de la segunda mitad del juego debas forzadamente jugar con ella durante casi todo lo que queda de juego, hombre la idea de jugar con un personaje es empatizar con el y entenderlo pero dime tu, como mierda voy a empatizar con la persona que le revento la cabeza a Joel con un palo sin piedad?, como voy a empatizar con la persona que acaba de matar Jesse de un tiro en la cabeza?. estoy seguro de que habra mucha gente que si logro empatizar con abby pero tambien se que al igual que yo habra mucha gente la cual tampoco pudo empatizar con ella y simplemente deseaba verla morir. para mi sinceramente las partes en las que tuve que jugar con abby mas que divertidas y disfrutables fueron bastante tediosas.

    punto 3: Final del juego

    si hay algo que me decepciono mas que todo lo demas fue el final del juego y es por estas razon

    despues de terminar las partes jugables de Abby vuelves a tomar el control de Ellie la cual va nuevamente en busca de Abby con el fin de acabar con todo y asi vengar la muerte de Joel, Jesse y por poco Tommy, despues de buscarla la encuentra en pesimas condiciones debido a que habia sido raptada por un grupo de locos los cuales habian decidido al parecer atarla a un pilar con el fin de que.... muriera supongo, y no solo eso, tambien nos enteramos de que a sido mordida y al parecer va a transformarse en un infectado. al verla en estas condiciones ellie decide bajarla para acabar con todo y despues de una intesa batalla Ellie logra neutralizarla y la comienza a ahogar en el agua. ese momento parecia significar que todo podria haber valido la pena, Despues de la muerte de Joel, Jesse y por poco Dyna y Tommy al fin iba a obtener mi venganza, mi satisfacción, Abby finalmente iba a morir y eso significaba que esas muertes no fueron en vano pero..no...Ellie por alguna razon desconocida simplemente.... decide dejarla ir
    me estas diciendo que despues de todas esas muertes y que despues de que literlamente casi mueres para encontrar y matar a Abby simplemente.. la dejas ir? Para mi eso a sido el colmo, estuve todo el juego deseando matar a Abby, deseando verla muerta y al final de todo ellie simplemente la deja ir significando asi que todas esas muertes, todo ese sufrimiento, todas esas horas que gaste....no valieron para nada y si se que dije que abby se iba a transformar y eso probablemente signifique que tarde o temprano alguien la matara siendo un infectado pero.. estuve todo el juego avanzando con el fin de matar a Abby con mis propias manos para poder asi llenar ese vacio que Joel dejo, para que simplemente la deje ir condenandola a transformarse y que alguien mas la mate, sinceramente estoy bastante decepcionado con el final

    en conclusion:
    para mi el juego fue muy disfrutable durante la primera mitad, hay bastantes combates, accion, sigilo, buenas cinematicas y buenos dialogos pero a partir de la segunda mitad (donde controlas a Abby ) el juego es simplemente un desastre no disfrutable asi que si estas pensando en comprar este juego, sinceramente te recomiendo que esperes alguna rebaja ya que para mi no vale la pena gastar 60 dolares en este juego    … Expand

    This game is so good, but not quite as good as the first one. This is some of the best story telling period. Hollywood can't do this stuff and this is in a video game. I would give it a 10, but the fights between Abby and Ellie take away from the quality of this game. Everything but that was done perfectly!     Pretty good despite its flaws. Fun to play, mainly. Story's a bit bloated and poorly structured, has its moments and a lot of heart. Hope it grows on me.

They kill a fan favorite character for no reason other than shock value and just to start off a stupid revenge quest that doesn't even get fulfilled. Ignore the 10/10 if your an actual fan of the original game. those are either paid media or players who have a lack of taste in good games. i gave this game a 4/10 because the gameplay is the 4. the story is inconsistent and lacks ALOT of emotion concerning characters. The old characters besides ellie get little time and their general character development from the last game is thrown out the window in this game. the new characters are quickly thrown in and you won't actually give a crap about them and if you do then you'll be disappointed when they are killed off in the most unemotional way. infact the characters in the game seem to act like the deaths are nothing besides ellie. but even when joel dies the game just brushes past it very quickly. none of the deaths are justified nor do they have an impact like the first game. i nearly cried when joel's daughter died, but in this one when joel dies, i just hate the abby the **** on steroids. the gameplay is violent and amazing but it seems to drag on in different levels. sometimes the levels feel empty because nothing is going on in the story progression. anyone saying people are mad just because joel dies is a freaking moron. It is one thing if you want to kill a beloved character, it's another when you do it in the most meaningless way. they used his death for "story drive" but there is no other reason and it's not a justified death. if they wanted to kill joel off fine, but make me actually feel something besides immediate hate for a new character and makes me completely disinterested in the games story. it almost felt at times that i was playing 2 different games with 2 different stories. obviously they wanted you to play abby and get to know her but at the beginning you don't give a crap about her and when the game ends, you still won't. graphics are amazing. so maybe 1 point extra should go to the game so maybe a 5/10 is the real score. but my bias toward the destruction of a favorite storyline of mine brings it to a 4/10. you'll love the level design and you'll enjoy the scenery. but the disgusting story flow and design will make you cringe most of the time and hate it the rest. anyone who blindly gives it a 10/10 or 9/10 should be ignored and only hinder good game creation. i don't know about you but i'd rather play a shorter yet better story designed game then settle for a long string of dog crap. but hey those 10/10 and 9/10's love their dog crap, so let them lather in it. won't bother with last of us 3 because they killed off all the old characters mostly and changed who they are and they killed of 95% of the new ones so you don't actually give a crap about the next games because it's just gonna loop back around to the fireflies and i bet ellie dies in that one because "plot development". save yourself 60 bucks and go buy ff7, it's a good game and storyline and won't make you feel like you're watching a tv show from the CW or crappy drama show. or play god of war if you haven't that exclusive is worth every penny and actually knows how to bring real emotion in a game. naughty dog used to know what that was but now they lost their way.… Expand

    I think there are some details about the game that people did not understand well, and they give a bad rating just because the game doesn't have a good ending and other things, i mean yeah it is not the best development of story but is good enough to offer a very good game, stop that stupid hate if you haven't played yet

Dabei habe ich absolut kein Problem damit von einer guten Story überrascht zu werden, noch mit der Gewaltdarstellung, aber der Umgang mit den Hauptfigueren des ersten Teils ist im wahrsten Wort unerträglich. Und ein Spiel wie TLOU macht für mich die Story aus, nicht das Gameplay - das ist wie bei den meisten ND Games eher mittelmäßig, was aber durch die Story nie wirklich auffällt! Man wird gezwungen ein aktiver Teil dieser schwachsinnigen Handlung zu sein, und dann auch noch permanent moralisch belehrt, obwohl man ja gar keine Wahlmöglichkeit hat. Nein Danke ND!
    Der zweite große Kritikpunk ist bewusste Irreführung des Kunden beim Marketing. Ich werde ungern manipuliert, und dafür dann auch noch zur Kasse gebeten.    … Expand

    Please read some reviews like Kotaku's where they have the guts to tell you the truth and not Naughty Dog lies. You only play as Ellie for half the game and the other 12 hours as the villian. So stupid to do with a beloved character like Ellie. This trick might work with a new IP but not for a sequel of a beloved game. I also just replayed the first game and left behind dlc right before this. I loved the first 12 hours with Ellie getting revenge but losing a bit of herself with each kill. Watching her get consumed by revenge and hoping for her to change and accept it. To walk away and live her life.

    Then the game does a 180 and makes you play as the villian right after she murders one of you friends. I could not continue and only made it ten minutes making her die over and over again. I looked to see how long her segment was going to be. Thinking that I would be okay with a level or 2 but it's literally the second half the game, another 12 hours! Will not finish this game. I don't want to play as this character I want to kill and be forced to actively hunt down the Ellie.

    Yeah I know they want to make a statement about how no one is truely evil and the backgrounds sort of mirror each other but not at the expense of a character I have spent over 60 hours protecting and another 20 hours playing as. Do this BS with new characters in the same world and it may have worked.    … Expand

It's hard and painful to imagine how many developers gave their best to create a genuinely good game, but the storyline is just depressing. It's infuriating what    Graphics, art, soundtrack, etc... Wonderful.

The las of us Parte 2 Es el juego del año.No, no lo es, todo el mundo estaba emocionado con el gran juego que se suponía que The Last of US Parte 2 debía ser, a pesar de las filtraciones que algunos tanto se empeñaron en negar y que ya nos daban un presagio de que tan buen juego no iba a ser. Pero después de tanta especulación, el juego ya ha llegado oficialmente y ya tenemos un puntaje 95 en Metacritic y un 10 de 10.la prensa lo adora, pero lo que la crítica te dice es que es un juego hecho con mucha pasión, un juego con un arte muy bien logrado, una gran calidad de audio, gran gameplay y un juego que te transmite un gran mensaje que en cierta parte no está mal. Lo que la prensa no te dice es que la historia es una completa mierda. Se os olvida mencionar pequeños detalles, como por ejemplo el hecho de que Joel uno de los personajes más humanos y más carismáticos vistos en la última década, se ve reducido a un inútil que muere a manos de Tiger Woods. Que la historia nos presenta varias ideologías metidas forzosamente y a lo idiotas sólo por el hecho de querer ser inclusivos. Que el mismo juego te obliga empatizar con un antagonista que es francamente insoportable y sobretodo el hecho de que desde que comienzas la historia hasta que terminas te das cuenta de que no debieron haber hecho una segunda parte. Cada vez es más difícil confiar en la prensa dedicada a los videojuegos porque te das cuenta de que el dinero manda. En ninguna critica hacia el hecha por algún medio medianamente grande o conocido. Se atrevieron a decir la verdad del juego. Claro que no lo iban a hacer, ya sea porque hay un poco de motivación por medio o simplemente porque saben que no sería bueno que hablar mal de uno de los juegos más grandes de la generación, pero sólo basta con jugarlo para que tú mismo te des cuenta. El juego es estéticamente bello? Sí, y tiene un gran gameplay, sí, pero todos debemos estar de acuerdo que a pesar de que la primera parte de the last of us tenía un gran gameplay y todo lo que lo hizo destacar como obra y ponerlo en un pedestal como uno de los mejores juegos de su maravillosa historia y la manera de contarla. Cosa que en su segunda parte ya no existe. Claro que puedes argumentar que la gracia del juego está en eso mismo, jugarlo. Y si la historia es mala, pues al menos jugablemente está bien. Y si tendría razón, el hecho de que la historia sea mala no demerita el gran trabajo que hicieron con su jugabilidad y su ambientación, pero como dije antes the last of us nunca fue un juego que destacara por su gran jugabilidad, que ya tenía por supuesto, pero era el conjunto de jugabilidad, narración, grandes personajes y una historia fantástica que juntos hicieron a este juego. Lo que es. En conclusión, The Last of US Parte 2 es un juego con muchas cosas destacables que lamentablemente se ven opacadas por decisiones estúpidas en el desarrollo del juego. Es triste pensar en todo el potencial que tenía. Fácilmente hubiera podido ser el mejor juego del 2020. Es un título que personalmente no te recomiendo para nada comprar. Ok I watch a lot of critics saying that play with the character that kills “you know who” its detestable but it’s really a need of the game at least me, when Abby is kicking in the ass Ellie I felt bad (obviously) but then when Ellie is kicking and almost killing Abby I also feel bad because know we know the reasons why she killed “you know who” and we see how she also has lost people at cause of Ellie and if you see Ellie killed more people than Abby. Also it’s almost the same story of the las of us part 1 you go through half of U.S.A for nothing at the end. Abby is a big character, at the end we know what she’s been through and how that affect her. Yes of course we love Ellie because we’ve been with her since first game but Abby have a lot of history at first obviously I hate her with all my soul but at the end I didn’t want her to suffer. I think this game have a great end, a great history, great graphics, it’s great in everything, my score is a 11/10… Expand

    This game is a masterpiece! It has a great message about moral and ethics facts we all human being need to understand in our real life.

    The story is violent and controversial in the vein of The Nightingale (2018) as tense as Uncut Gems (2019) and as bittersweet as the first Last of Us. Though it does stumble a bit when it comes to pacing (especially half-way through the game) but the momentum that was broken is masterfully brought back, building to a tense climax, aftermath, and emotional and reflective resolution.

    Along with my complaints with the glaring break in momentum, the game, at some points, felt needlessly long. Certain events could have been shortened to allow for a better flow of the story. However, that was not too bothersome. The marketing did feel misleading in that the audience expected major plot points that did not end up happening. However, misleading marketing is what Hollywood does so often, that it's somewhat of a given when it comes to AAA games and blockbuster movies.

    Before diving into the story, I'll quickly get everything else out of the way by saying that the combat, visuals, and score are all more than serviceable at their worst but outstanding at their best. The combat and exploration does overstay its welcome at times to the point where the game feels almost bloated but it still works wonderfully to help understand just what these characters are going through.

    I want to try my best to not spoil anything about the story, so I'll start by saying what kind of story this ultimately is:

    The story of TLOU2 is about forgiveness but disguises itself as revenge. When you begin the game and start Ellie's journey, everything feels obvious, you know that the person who started this is bad and you need to get revenge for what they've done. But as you play more, you start to see just how many layers there are to what you're doing and how nothing is as black-and-white as it seems, and by the end you understand how selfish acts only hurt everyone - most importantly yourself. This doesn't only come through the brutal violence that surrounds the game, but it also shows itself in each characters's emotions and feelings towards one-another. The catch is that this only becomes apparent if you allow yourself to empathize and understand the characters without letting pre-conceived notions cloud your judgement. If you can look past the flaws of certain characters and understand them as people then you'll likely enjoy this game, otherwise it'll be nothing but misery.

    My only gripes with the story are more based in how it's presented rather than the content itself. The story will continuously use flashbacks, albeit in a chronological order, but in a way that still distracts from the story at times. But much bigger than that is the overall pacing, as it tends to make the game feel much longer than it is. The game itself took me 25 hours, and while this did include long stretches of looting and exploring, chapters often felt incredibly long and filled to the brim with story moments that almost made it hard to handle. Multiple objectives and important story events will happen within a day and the ending started to feel like it was farther and farther away when it was actually closer than ever.

    Overall, the story, the bulk of the game, is wonderful and bold for a video game. But it'll only be that way if you really try and see what the writers and actors wanted to convey instead of letting your own ideas cloud it all. My only other recommendation is to play the first one beforehand and to go in as blind as possible.    … Expand

While watching the credits roll out I understand why now; It's because I missed Joel so much, I kept remembering him and all the beautiful scenes with him, just like Ellie did during the entire experience, reading her diary makes a great difference, so with this in mind, it wouldn't be possible without having to see what Abby experienced so you can have a broader view of all that happened and why, still this does not absolve her of anything, if it were my choice I would definitely drown her, but its not, and Ellie really made the right choice because she saw Joel at the end, she felt all his love and released all the anger she had inside, she burst into tears, something she didn't do during the entire experience, she was just tired of it all, just as we were, I was so stressed the whole game, and then happy and then angry, and then stressed again, and for a game to bring you all this emotions, oh man, that deserves praise, I won't even talk about the gameplay It's just a beauty, organic, smooth, brutal and gratifying.… Expand

    The amount of attention to detail in every single environment of the game is astonishing. Some cutscenes exist purely to show off the natural beauty of the landscapes you explore, which is far from unwelcome.
    Lots of other reviews do a good job explaining what WAS unwelcome, so I'll leave it at that.

    For those of you who are too close-minded to comprehend the complexity of moral relativity, or too insecure about your sexuality to accept, without judgement, the sexual preference of another human being, you still have a lot of growth to do. You should put more effort into progressing as a human and less effort into criticizing the hard work of people who obviously have accomplished, both professionally and personally, more than you.

    Pude empatizar con la historia, con los personajes, y con el mensaje que el juego trata de contar. Admiro el riesgo que los desarrolladores tomaron con los personajes.     The things i love, the game is stunning and on par with p.c games in my opinion, the gameplay was smooth and i didn't encounter frame rate drops or glitches, the weapons system was fantastic, the stealth was superbly done, the gore was so good it rivals the gore in mortal kombat games, the details in every environment will make stand there and admire it like the fungus growing in spore filled areas, the amazing scenery in the game is absolutely stunning i had to stop and admire all of it, the Joel and Ellie flashbacks are in my opinion the best parts in the game, this games equals pros and cons because of this game centers itself in negative emotions that makes the player feel angry and upset just like ellie in the game, this game is about revenge and forgiveness and kudos to naughty dog for making me feel the exact same feeling as the character im playing as. 9/10 solid game. When playing as Abby it did get a bit slow but gave you a sense of her side. Joel's death was way too convenient. Abby just happened upon them. Was not feeling that I wish they made us work for it more. The ending I understood. Ellie could never forgive Joel for what she thought was a betrayal. Therefore she could not kill for him. Try as she might it brought her no closure. She risks everything to figure that out. The ending leaves me wanting more. Where do we go from here? I hope this isn't the end. If it is this game and all Ellie went through will be pointless. This has always been her story of survival and search for meaning. I want her to keep going. Overall not as impactful as the first but by no means can this be the end.… Expand

    Great game. Really tells a story about grief. It is truly upsetting and disturbing, but it is written so damn well. The reason I'm not giving it a 10 is because I felt like it went a little to far with the brutality towards the end of the game.

Middle part was too long and took me out of the experience.. kind of like rdr2 which made me play Marston. I think the point could have been made a lot faster and most of the Owen flashbacks didnt add much to the plot. Didnt need as long to be able to understand why ellie made the right choice in the end. Ending was very satisfying and hopefully part 3 will continue with a more mature ellie.… Expand

In her quest to find the remainders of a familiar organization, she loses her friends, loved ones, her home, and much more. But grows a relationship with new characters and allies.

    Ellie's side is a lot focused when it comes to her objective. Ellie is determined to get her revenge at the cost of her friend's lives and more. She is reckless and even at times scary. Gameplay is brutal and disgusting. There are more ways to take out your enemies. You can rush them head on with shotguns, rifles and fists, or you can stealthily take them down with silenced pistols, bows and knives. At one point, Abby's side felt more like Joel's gameplay (from TLOU1), and Ellie seemed like Ellie. Also, this is something I'm quoting right now. "Graphics do not make a a game." That being said, the areas and world's are beautiful and breathtaking. Each new location is more gorgeous than the last. The Last Of Us ll is confusing and weird. The directors and writers made decisions I will never forgive, but the game overall makes for a good package. Though in my opinion I would wait till it is cheaper.

I was angry when Joel died, but when you complete the game and spend so much time as the other perspective you understand how Ellie chasing her across the country is the EXACT same drive that Abby had to find Joel for revenge... the game ends with them seeing their actions cause a cycle of pain and suffering and if she can forgive Joel for his actions in the hospital, then she’s capable of forgiving and understanding Abhys reasons... yeah I should use more full stops... give the game a proper go with an open mind! 10/10… Expand

That is why, like Death Stranding did with gameplay, this story doesn't cater to the prestablished conception of what a narrative should be. Graphics are amazing. Just because they killed Joel? he needed to die, because he **** up the humanity,just for 1 life, so I'm ok with his dead, it was heartbreaking? yeah it was, it was a roller coaster of emotions, this game won't make you laugh,it will make u suffer,because this is a vengeance. I'll give a 9 because the history sometimes fells pushed,and you don't make a "click" on some characters but otherwise that,the game is perfect. I hope there's a Part 3 ,they have a pretty good character like Abby and her travel to find the fireflies.… Expand

    I just finished the game and I thought it was excellent. I enjoyed the bleak story and the settings, graphics, sounds, the acting, dialogue and action were all first-rate. I'm a big fan of stealth level-clearing action and there was plenty of that. The AI was good enough to make it fun. It's definitely a dark story and will make you uncomfortable but it was an interesting experienceI just finished the game and I thought it was excellent. I enjoyed the bleak story and the settings, graphics, sounds, the acting, dialogue and action were all first-rate. I'm a big fan of stealth level-clearing action and there was plenty of that. The AI was good enough to make it fun. It's definitely a dark story and will make you uncomfortable but it was an interesting experience playing from the characters point of view. It's one of the few games that I'm likely to play again a second time although with the size of the game I feel like I more than got my money's worth.

    My main frustration was just that for some areas midway through the game the rules had changed from what I'd learnt in the earlier parts meaning I missed collectables or spent a long time trying to get into a room that was not possible at that point.

While the story in part II can be depressing and rage inducing, it feels like the only way to pay respect to the character choices made in the original. The only complaints I have are that the parts with Abby felt drawn out and her reactions to tragic situations feel disingenuous compared to Ellie's.

    What a rollercoaster of emotions. I didn't want it to end. Truly the best game of 2020. I hope people finish the game or replay it and see the story for that it is.

The amazing characters and story of the first game kept me replaying the story over and over again with the same emotional effect each time. The Last of Us Part 2 is a flawed story with underdeveloped and unlikeable characters and very bad pacing. Throughout the story I was dumbfounded at the key decisions made by the developers at naughty dog.

    Let’s begin with the death of Joel. Now I am fine with naughty dog killing off Joel however the stupidity of the way this happens and the disrespect shown to the characters of Joel and Tommy is insane. The death of Joel seems to be used as a scapegoat for the lack of story ideas of the game developers sending Ellie on a basic revenge plot that contradicts itself throughout.

    The game wants you to feel angered by Joel’s death fuelling the player to engage on a quest for revenge against the WLF and Abby, however it also tries to make the player understand the actions of Abby with most attempts being unsuccessful just proving the unlikeability of Her as a character.

    One of the worst decisions in my opinion was to replace the Ellie and Joel relationship with Abby and lev it felt like the developers didn’t know what to do with Abby for her 3 day Seattle period so they sent her on a side quest that has nothing to do with the overall game, in my opinion it’s only included to allow naughty dog to milk this series of a part 3 (the adventures of Abby and lev). Abby and Ellie’s story whilst in seattle should run along side each other if we are to truly relate to the characters as we would kill a character as Ellie (Owen as an example) and when we go to playing as Abby and are interacting with Owen the player does not care (just need to mention Owens terrible flat voice acting, I have never seen a more uninteresting character).

    And now onto the ending where Ellie leaves her family to finish Abby off and doesn’t because of a Joel flashback, the developers want the player to understand that Ellie has now forgiven Joel for lying all those years ago even though the entire length of Ellie’s story was about avenging Joel. I find it hard to describe my feelings towards this ending as I see it in many ways and I know that it does work if you look at it in the right manner however this can be very hard as naughty dog have strayed so far from what this game was originally about

    The main message that naughty dog try to send is that REVENGE IS FATAL! Ellie loses everyone she loved like she explains in the first game, and Abby loses all of her close friends

    I have very mixed feelings!

Everything in this game is fantastic, the only thing some people have a problem with is the story, that’s it. The game is wayyy darker than the original, which is kinda unnecessary. Joel is brutally killed about 2 hours into the game. Everyone is upset about this, because they liked him. It seems they didn’t realize Joel is the bad guy of the original game... if you actually understood the story in the first game you will appreciate the story told in Part 2. The main problem I have is the ending, which is a pretty big disappointment and pretty dumb tbh. Apart from that this game is great, whether you like the story points in this game or not, you will be heavily immersed throughout. Would absolute recommend buying it!… Expand

An absolutely fantastic game, from the visuals and world creation, game mechanics and audio, it really is the best of the console generation. The story is where I’ve seen many complaints and after playing all the way through, I just don’t get many of those complaints and really wonder if they had actually played the game or rated based on spoilers. Joel’s death (triggered by revenge for Abby’s father) was the catalyst for Ellie’s revenge adventure of her own, so Joel had to die early to set this up. No point keeping him around for 8 hours first like some people have commented. You get him again through flashbacks which further help explain key story points. And Then I’ve seen complaints that Ellie sparing Abby was a wrong choice, but it is exactly what was needed to break the cycle of revenge. She needed to go after Abby one last time because of the PTSD she had from Joel’s death, she couldn’t calm, and then after the Trials getting there and the pain inflicted on her, and then seeing the trauma that Abby and Lev, when she had revenge in her hands she realised that she no longer needed it. Whether or not I would have preferred Joel to live or Abby to die does not make the story bad. The story was just what it needed to be. I’ve already started my New Game +. Play the game, and see it through. Amazing.… Expand

    This game blew me away. It was incredible. But it was not perfect. In fact, the flaws in the game were so glaring that it’s a testament to how great the game is that I still gave it an 8. I think it’s worth noting that I played the game through after successfully avoiding any spoilers or leaks that were abundant in the lead-up to the game’s release, so I played the game untainted from anyThis game blew me away. It was incredible. But it was not perfect. In fact, the flaws in the game were so glaring that it’s a testament to how great the game is that I still gave it an 8. I think it’s worth noting that I played the game through after successfully avoiding any spoilers or leaks that were abundant in the lead-up to the game’s release, so I played the game untainted from any and all controversy. (Tangentially, I believe it highly likely that the vast majority of the low scores were submitted by people before playing—much less finishing—the game.) In short, TLOUP2 is probably the best game I’ve played in several years. For a minute there I thought it might be the best game I’ve ever played, period. Alas.

    Easily the biggest flaw of TLOUP2 was that it kept going... and going... and going some more. Which problem was compounded by the fact that it also suffered from the same issue as the first game—repetition. By the end of the first game I was just so tired of going into a “new” (old) building and killing infected in (basically) the same ways, searching for the same stuff, etc. I felt like TLOUP2 tried to improve this by mixing in more fights against humans (WLF, Scars, Rattlers), which was a nice change of pace. But with the game playing as long as it did, it still resulted in the same issue. By the end of the game I was barely going through the motions of playing the game, just to see the story play out.

    Which brings me to what I thought was one of the strongest and also weakest parts of the game: the story. I am in the camp that thought the story was brilliant. It was masterfully created, told, and tied together. It was compelling. It was thought provoking. HOWEVER—as good as I thought the story was, it was just EXHAUSTING. In a good way at times... but HOLY GOD. By the end it was just too much. Making you play fetch with the dog that you know you already took pleasure in killing just a few hours ago was just cruel. (There were numerous examples of this.) The most egregious over-the-top-ism I think was essentially turning the audience against Ellie by the end. I got the point. I see what they were trying to do. But I’m just not sure it was necessary to that extent.

    Further to the point of the story being a tad over the top, I lost track of the number of times various social justice themes were driven home. Hammered home. THUNDERED home. I don’t want to be beaten over the head with a cause—even ones I support. Especially in a video game. And everyone got the transgender message here. We didn’t need a not-so-subtle-dialogue explaining it to us. Much less witness the boy’s religion, society, AND MOTHER try to kill him for it, all but forcing him to turn against everything he knows and loves—to include murdering his own mother. Again, just a bit unnecessary.

    Anyway, again—great game. Amazing game. So many really great moments. Graphics, game play, soundtrack, acting, dialogue... they really nailed it in a lot of ways. And even with some of the flaws prevalent throughout, I think the game would have gotten a 9 or even a 10 from me if the whole thing had ended with Ellie sitting on the tractor watching the sunset. Story was told, lessons were learned, characters are still (mostly) beloved. It was enough. It was more than enough. The rest was just superfluous.    … Expand
