    Full of political correct in end of civilization.

    Joel died like a fool, brutally killed by one who he just saved.

    Asian lives do not matter.

    Abby killed Joel without hesitation, though she was just saved by him. While Abby killed all her partners, friends, brothers and sisters in another similar situation.

    As long as you forgive someone killed your father and your wife brutally, despite you have killed hundreds of innocent people including pregnant woman for revenge, you are still a good girl with shining heart.

    There are more disgusting messages in the story.

    Terrible and horrible.

    While media still attacking players who give a 0 score, saying they have never bought and played the game. They avoid to talk about the story, except for IGN Japan.

    It does not make sense to defend the story like that, I mean, people don't need to eat **** to know it's ****.

    I give a 10 score for the quality of the game, including music, control, graphic and others. -10 score for the story, which is the soul of this game. 10 - 10 = 0.

    The gameplay is very similar to the first game with added in extras, but they really just didn't write the story well. They did the complete opposite of what the first game did. They decided to gut every character and just make them so 1 dimensional that it was a snooze. They make you go through so many people just to give up in the end. They might as well just turn TLOU 2 into a Half Life 3

    i felt that 60% of this game was exceptional, while the rest just fell on it's face. There are moments that are so well crafted, and then sometimes game just slaps you with a dead fish across the face.
    I loved all the content about Ellie and her story. Hated every single second of the other playable character. El juego argumentalmente tiene otros errores: la deshumanización de Ellie y la hypersexualizacion innecesaria de varios personajes creando más una declaración de intenciones que un contexto en el juego (para mi su mayor error)

    Mucha gente critica a Abby, personalmente me ha parecido más interesante el personaje de Abby que el de Ellie en este juego. Ellie está cegada con su objetivo y prácticamente en eso se reduce su hilo argumental. Ese es otro de sus errores, destrozar argumental e intencionalmente a Ellie.

    Como juego hay cierta falta de evolución y es igual que el primero

    Gráficamente es un 10
    Y la banda sonora es otro 10

I'm only 9 hours in but felt compelled to put a review in due to the nonsense here on metacritic which is a display of ignorance. The graphics, story, dialogue, music and gameplay are exceptional and improve on what was excellence in the first game. The characters communicate throughout giving a better sense of who they are and where they've come from. Anybody who played the first and enjoyed it surely will love this game...of course that's said if your manhood isn't affected by the lesbian presence which is not at all shoved down the players throat as I've read in some of these small people's reviews. A narrow mind is laughable and also explains why many on here are lonely and probably miserable. I'm stunned in 2020 that you all made this "political", but I'm not surprised. Anyway... this game is phenomenal and to buy into a snowflake narrative would be your loss if these opinions do in fact dissuade you from purchasing this game. Character development is top notch..and humanity is on display moreso than part 1. The story can be ugly, but aren't we. It is what people are and if you can't handle the brutality and emotion its not a title for you. The environments are steps above the original and the music sets the tone. Reactions in characters us the best gaming has to offer...as is the dialogue which is to say well written. Only 9 hours in and yeah, this is your game of the year. Thanks again Naughty Dog fir attention to detail in the form of broken glass crunching under Ellie's feet and setting the atmosphere with the proper gloom. I'm 100% satisfied. And Metacritic please get this problem fixed...these user scores are a joke.… Expand

    Part 1 was a success & well writeen but a big fail for Part 2 which was highly anticipated.
    Gameplay still very good as previously but story is very poorly written, I understand that some teenagers might speak with a swear word here & there but this is non-stop, I'm not offended in the least but just didn't expect such a basic uneducated poorly written dialogue, it feels like this was written by a 16 year old even though most speak better then Ellie with less f*ck words.
    Then comes killing off Joel at an early start within the story when he is the father figure for the lead character & introducing some bizarre uninteresting characters.
    Creativity in this game got very poor within the story & lack of engaging dialogue & goals.
    And we have then identity politics being played in this game, I don't have a problem with the character being gay, but what I have a problem is the physical alteration of Ellie to become more man-ish, lack of build up story in regards to her sex orientation & introducing a new character called Abby which looks like a Transsexual (which again got no problem) but the game wasn't about sex & their orientation (any sex scenes from TLOU part 1??) & was about the 2 characters Ellie & Joel.
    Also most of the side story is all in dozens of little write up notes found along the game, way too many in fact & very repetitive.
    So in summary, gameplay still very good & deeply enjoyable but when it comes to dialogue I instantly feel the need to skip ahead (even though I didn't).
    Very poor attempt at Part 2 & destroying the franchise.    … Expand

    this game unfortunately is a big disappointment after 7 years of waiting part 2 was released to a franchise that didn't need a sequal however this cash grab was a giagantic failure because of these reasons:
    cons:

    1. character introduction they added like 20 new characters gave you no back story on most of them you have no attachments to them and they feel like throw away people used to show how quickly and dry people can die like Jessy dies randomly for no reason but to shock you however you have no attachment to him so his death is meaningless this also shows with dina as she is just there sometimes while exploring bringing up random stuff like how her sister took her too a church and then goes on about the holocaust when no one brings it up

    2.every male character is belittled as a psycho or killed leaving only tommy left bearly alive. not to mention that abby is built like a bulking lower end body builder and is completely unrealistic as a 7 year male lifter is bearly bigger than her and she managed to get that big in 4 years unless she was taking a crazy amount of estrogen blockers but even then she would only be on the same level of a man and would at least take 14 years to get to that level not to mention the proper nutrition that she is probably not getting considering yunno its the APOCALYPSE!!! the male characters are instantly misdemeanour'd as soon as this journey begins when the 'bigot sandwich' is delivered this just show the demographic is rousty teens and she don't need no man kinda people and the male cucks that go along with it and it is always cringey when big company's try to act progressive

    3. the order of events is messed up they should have explained why abby wanted to kill joel instead telling it way after this would have contrasted emotions

    4. they should've killed joel appropriately and for reference it should have been that farther figure death like in the walking dead games where lee dies protecting clem and you can choose whether to kill him or let him turn not some heman jacked up on an incredible amount of steroids killing him slowly with a golf club

    5.the game-play is just a RTX version of the last of us remaster and doesn't look any better than just red dead redemption 2 with better level design

    6.ending is dogcrap and whoever came up with that should have been executed immediately the writers are literally retarded hire some professional writers if u don't know how an ending works

    pros:

    1.good music

    2. one flash back of ellie's birthday with joel (depicts well the first game and is so good and should have developed on it with the progression of joel lost his daughter then finds what he lost with ellie and that is what make the game good in the first place)

    3.the 2 characters lev and Yara were the only well developed characters in the whole game

    4.looks good however not as good as some games however keeps to the standed of 2020 graphics

    conclusion: waste of $60 and the person who leaked this game is a god who saved a lot of people money not including me as i wanted to be unbiased and hadn't seen them and the game journalists are just saying it is good because how well received the first game was and was considered the best game ever made therefore they didn't want to go against the mob they thought would be therefore they were dishonest to cater to the accomplishments of the game before.

    In general, TLOU2 is exactly what you expect gameplay wise. This is not necessarily bad as the first one was an almost perfect game in the first place.

    Coming up to the story, it will, for sure, divide the fan base but in my eyes, the choices they made really help connect you with the main characters and understand their feelings and motivations. It's like this game serves as nothing but a vessel to destroy those characters that fans love. Why? Why would ND do this to their fans? The gameplay was decent, not very innovative from the last game, and the graphics are a plus. But good graphics with such a poorly written, sickening story is not much of a benefit. Not to mention the player is forced to do countless awful things to get their vengeance, then the game denies even that and tries to scold the player for it, even though the game forced you onto that path. I know there are many fans like myself heart broken (and not in a good way) about what ND did here and I know I'm not the only one to think TLOU part II doesn't exist in my mind. What a disappointing end for us fans faithfully waiting for a (faithful) sequel for years, to say it fell short is an understatement. It's as if the developers went "hm, how can we really give the biggest F you to players?" everything they did callously intentional and knowingly against fans desires.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I just finished the game yesterday. Now, I'm not one to blindly follow a dev or artist just because I like their past stuff. Bethesda used to be my favorite dev of all time, but after Fallout 4 being okay, 76 being trash and their handling of Elder Scrolls, I can't stand them. This game does not make me feel the same way. After playing the game, watching another playthrough and beginning to go back through it again, I like the story. Yes, it's bleak. Yes, it's a cautionary tale about revenge. No, it doesn't go how any of us wanted it to, and honestly that's why I like it.

    I've always been one for narratives like this, that don't have a happy ending or... really an ending that is satisfying at all for the sake of making a point. Those have always resonated with me. I feel it mirrors the first game in the sense that all of it was, technically, for nothing. When Ellie makes it back to the farmhouse, Dina is gone, and she can't play Joel's song anymore, it represents her losing everything that she was fighting for in the first place. It's a cautionary tale with a tragic ending, and I find myself drawn to those types of stories consistently throughout my life.

    I was in the same camp as everyone else when we first transitioned to playing as Abby. I hated her, I hated the way the story was going, and I just wanted to be Ellie again and kill her. After a while... I still hated her, but I understood her. I never LIKED Abby for a second, but I was aware of her motivations and reasoning for how she is and why she's doing what she's doing, and that's more important than liking her from a storytelling perspective. I respect this game for taking a risk like this, much like MGS2, instead of relying on fanservice or a safe route. That will always get points from me. But, again, these complaints are completely valid and I acknowledge that I am in a minority of people that LIKE the plot.

    TL;DR: I like the storytelling and plot of the game, I'd give it overall a 9/10, and I acknowledge that the criticisms of the games are valid, I just don't necessarily agree with all of them.    … Expand

    This game is absolutely astounding. Those that are mad at the story, please cry all you want. Life doesn’t work the way you want it to. This games story is one of the most grounded and raw experiences I have seen. It’s an astounding achievement.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Last of Us Part II is one of those games that makes you question everything. It brings up questions of morality, ethics, among many others.

    I read the leaks before the game came out and like many others was so angry. I felt they treated my beloved characters wrongly. I tried to give Naughty Dog the benefit of the doubt anyway due to their amazing games of the past.

    Now having played it all the way through, I can say it has become one of the best games I have ever played. It has shifted my reality much like the first one did.

    Last of Us Part II is a game that hurts you. It hurts you so bad that you fall. And when you are on the floor helpless, it continues to beat you. It barely offers any moments of joy. Somehow I still find so much joy in it. It offers an experience that really puts you at odds with everything and puts you in a place that makes you feel helpless, much like the characters feel in the game.

    The biggest complaint heard around is Joel’s death. Not THAT he died but HOW he died. I get that. It made me incredibly sad and angry when it occurred in the game. But now I get why he died that way. People don’t want to recognize it but in the world of the Last of Us, Joel is just a guy. A **** up and horrible but amazing and beautiful guy. The death is proper because it reminds the player that Joel is no god. He is just as human just like every else that the player kills in the series and is treated as such. People get killed in the worst ways in the world and the game reflects that. Joel is no exception to that terrible death many get. Also as much as it pains me to say it. I love Joel with all my heart but his death is justified. Joel, as much as we love is, is a terrible human being. He not only **** up Ellie’s life by making her give up what she wanted so badly in life (to mean something, her way of meaning something being sacrificing herself for a cure), but he also killed so many innocent lives in the process. His one selfish decision to take Ellie out of the hospital came at such a large cost to so many people’s lives. It was inevitable Joel would die they way he did. Karma caught up with him. Of course his death still hurts so bad. I cared about him so much but it makes sense that he dies that way.

    The other concern I had about the death is that I thought Joel would be dead 2 hrs in and then we’d never see him ever again. I was proven wrong by the many flashbacks seen throughout the game. Joel is still largely in the story, just not in the current world. Only in flashbacks. He is still want the whole story revolves around and is seen quite a bit, thank the lord.

    The other complaint I see tossed around is the one about Abby’s transgender nature and Ellie’s gay nature. I don’t think people mind their being diverse characters but feel this game is trying to shove it down their throats. I am going to tell everyone who has never played the game. NO AGENDA IS SHOVED DOWN YOUR THROAT IN THIS GAME. Yes, lesbian situations are in the game a lot but it all feels nature. It doesn’t feel like any sort of statement. With Abby being transgender, I can’t remember when it is ever mentioned. In fact I don’t think it ever is. Transgender is mentioned in one section about a different character but doesn’t feel like any agenda. People heard in the leaks that a transgender is put as a hero for like Joel and instantly think that some agenda is being put: that transgenders are better than everyone. That isn’t at all said. One, the game doesn’t say Abby is better than Joel at all. In fact it tries its best to make everyone seem like neither good or bad guys, just humans. Second, Abby being transgender is not important to her character at all throughout the story, just something the character is. I understand the anger but I hope if people just take the time to play it they can understand the beauty in it. Sure it has some plot points that I feel are unnecessary and some moments are really slow but overall it is on the same level as the original Last of Us in my opinion. It feels like a proper Part II that is needed to complete this franchise. Hope people take my advice to heart and give this game a chance. So many people worked so hard on it and I think it’s paid off.

    Exhilarating journey, tough and gut wrenching scenes, full of wholesome moments between Dina and Ellie, you sympathize much with Ellie and can almost feel her emotions, in love with the new characters and wish to see more of them all in dlc

The first game was phenomenal, amazing story with believable characters that we grew to care for. However for some reason they just decided to throw the impact and everything the first game set out to do away with part 2. Why, WHY would they think it’s a good idea to have a character we’ve never even heard of until this game, kill the most important and beloved character of this world they’ve built, in the first few hours of the game? Not only that, but make the players take control of this person for more than half the game? Playing the game and completing the story did not make me sympathize for this character WHATSOEVER. Putting the amazingly put together gameplay, graphics, and voice acting aside, the absolutely infuriating narrative completely destroys the experience. Hopefully Naughty dog will learn from this because this game had so much potential to be better than its predecessor. I’m gonna go replay Uncharted 4 now.… Expand

    Am about 8 hours in I think and it's pretty good! Sony can sell consoles on this title, again I haven't finished it yet but the game mechanics, graphics, and the story-line (SO FAR) are amazing! Naughty Dog absolutely nailed it imo-

    The game itself is wonderful. Better than the first, and just a great experience. Trust the Metacritic review.

I managed to avoid the leaks, but understood that something happens at the middle of the game that pushed people away. When I got to this point /spoiler/ and played as Abby I was pissed. I took a break and pushed throught the first couple of hours with Abby hoping to get back to Ellie soon. After a while I got attached to Abby and her companions. It just clicked. The narrative weaved its way perfectly and delivered an amazing story about the cycle of violence. Give it a chance. Maybe you won't have fun doing it but you will feel extremely powerfull emotions that go way beyond any other video game I've played.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As most people on here, I am really disappointed with this game, especially as it has literally been the game I have looked forward to the most in years.

    Positives:

    Either way I'll start off with the positives, the graphics are stunning and the music and general environment you're playing in certainly holds up to what I've been expecting from Naughty Dog. That's really the only reason, why I'm even rewarding this game with any points. Also there are some new mechanics to the gameplay although it is mostly the same as in the original.

    Negatives:

    You start off in the game and the game starts off very quietly until they kill off Joel, which is in itself already quite a bad decision. Killing off one of the players' most beloved characters for shock value is really not the best decision. Especially as Joel had barely made an appearance in the game before his brutal murder. Ellie goes on to find the killer, Abby and basically goes on a revenge trip together with Dina, her girlfriend. After Joel's death I was quite shocked and already had lost some of the appetite to even continue the game. But after a short break I decided to continue playing regardless. I was determined to kill Abby, the person who killed Joel. After getting about halfway through the game Abby suddenly breaks into their safehouse and Jesse, another side character who I had grown to like was again killed off for pure shock value in a very distasteful manner. Before knowing the outcome of that event it switches to Abby, the person you just really hate, like seriously, I don't know if I've ever hated a character more in a video game. So now you're supposed to play as the villain and get a little bit of backstory as to why she was so obsessed with Joel. Alright he killed her father, but do you really think that would make me suddenly like Abby? No I still hate her, like many people considering the reviews I've already read.

    Making the player play the game again through her point of view was a really bad decision and also what ultimately killed off my intention of seeing through the game. I played through the first couple of hours of Abby's story, but I will never start liking her and I feel like Naughty Dog greatly miscalculated how easy it would be to convince us of her. Also the characters around her are all also either unlikeable or just forgettable. Which is also a perfect way to describe this game. Naughty Dog ruined the series by making a story as bad as this one and I don't even know if I'm going to finish the game. It's a shame as this is the first time I have never been disappointed this much by a game and considering it came from Naughty Dog, a company I always trusted, that's even worse.

    If you want my advice, don't buy this game. You'd get more enjoyment out of just replaying the first game, which was truly a masterpiece.    … Expand

At this point the game became very tedious it’s hard to invest in a story line full of dead people I understand trying to humanize them but there are so many better ways to do it. So the story gets a 2 out of 10 not sure if I will go back to the game because of that. Kinda of weird to say about a naughty dogs game but maybe I shouldn’t have pre ordered next time I will treat it like a EA game and wait… Expand

In order to achieve this mediocre goal the story relies still on crucial events happening purely by chance, action completely out of the personality of characters and several minor plot holes. If we consider also the abuse of dmca takedowns on YouTube from Sony and the misleading advertising for the game(if you play it you’ll know what I’m referring to), I do not recommend this game thinking about the milestone part 1 have been for gaming, and I suggest saving 60$ and watching the play through on YouTube/twitch if you’re curious on how a story so anticipated can be so poorly written… Expand
