This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

The gameplay is improved on and refined, with more options for tackling encounters, and build customisation than previously. The environments, world-building and set pieces are stunning, and the attention to detail outshines many other AAA games available today. The graphics are excellent, in particular the lighting and effect detail, and character animations are very well done, though can become repetitive after some time. The story is a bittersweet description of consequences and perspective in the context of revenge. Through it, we discover what compels people to seek vengeance through anger and their idea of justice, while simultaneously from another perspective, were shown that revenge doesn’t make you whole in the end, and doesn’t solve anything. It’s a haunting, gritty, and oftentimes brutal story that draws on the characters, organisations, and relationships from the first game, and develops them in a world that still hasn’t recovered from the apocalypse. In saying that, the pacing of the game at times feels slow, and some sections of the game feel out of order. Certain characters don’t get as much time as they need to become fleshed out, and ultimately feel a bit flat. In addition to this, many elements of the games story are nuanced and alluded to in such a way that the underlying meaning is obscured to many people playing (or reading) the game. Overall, this game is phenomenal, and thought provoking, and anyone going into this blind will enjoy the game it presents, and think a lot about the story it tells. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Gameplay was fun, graphics were just amazing one of the driving reason to push me through the game. I was enjoying it until about the halfway point I see why did Joel in and what they were going for there but they lost me when they forced me to play as that hideous character Abby. Every second I spent playing as her I wanted her to just die, spent a lot of time just jumping her off cliffs. If they would've just pushed the Ellie revenge plot straight through they would've at least made a safe bet there that people would've been happy. Instead they try to make this curve ball bull crap that just leaves a sour taste in your mouth when you finish, and I even had a feeling that was gonna happen too. Extremely disappointed I don't know what naughty dog was thinking with the story... I'll definitely never fire this game up again I don't even want the plat they can keep it. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is one of greatest games this year, one of the best games in this generation and just one of the greatest games of all time. Despite all the controversy surrounding half-fake leaks without context, review bombing and baseless disgusting rumours and death threats, the game is out and people can now judge it for themselves. Let's see what it's all about:

Story: This story is brutal, haunting, harsh and depressing. It takes place in a world where there's no happy ending. Right from the start it shocks you with a powerful even that makes sense in hindsight. After that, a journey start, involving likeable characters with nice interactions between them, a lot of powerful moments and big twists. In the second half the game goes in an unpredictable direction, surprising you, making you feel confused, playing with your emotions. And in the end it all reaches it's climax. A brutal and exhausting climax, that capitalizes on everything that happened before it and leaves you empty and just a little bit hopeful. It's not a bright and cheery story, that's for sure and it can not work for some people, but it's not bad as some people would like you to believe. The characters are likeable, despite committing human mistakes and showing their darkest side in their worst moments. You can't just pick a side and stick to it, because this is a very morally grey world and a very morally grey story. Despite all the good moments, some things can fall a little flat and the story relies on coincidences too much. 9/10.

Gameplay: The gameplay is phenomenal. The game takes everything good from the first one and builds on it. Level design is nice and you can use fully to your advantage. Melee system allows you to brutally dispatch enemies and avoid damage thanks to the new "dodge" button, gunplay is satisfying and stealth is nervewracking, but very easy and is almost always an option. Infected enemies have multiple variations which require their own approach to dealing with them. Sections with them often have a horror feel, especially when it comes to a reworked "stalker" infected type. Human enemies use different weapons, can have dogs that sniff you out and can throw molotovs. The AI is pretty smart, they can flank you, cover each other, heal themselves and generally be a nuisance(The game was played on Hard difficulty). The game also has a bunch of unique encounters, which need to be experienced. Outside combat you can solve simple puzzles while exploring the world, find collectibles and resources and discover optional world-building materials and scenes. 10/10

Sound: The game sounds incredible. Be it the crunching of the snow under your feet, the sound of the rain above your head, gunshots, cries of pain and roars of the infected. Gustavo Santaolalla's soundtrack is beautiful, somber and haunting and definitely deserves mentioning. 10/10

Graphics: The Last Of Us 2 is one of the most beautiful PS4 titles. It's phenomenal from technical and design standpoint. The animations, the little details, the quality of textures. Everything is just so pleasing to the eye. It's not something I can describe with my words because I'm not good with technical terms, but you have to experience it. 10/10

I've only encountered a couple of very small bugs with textures or animations, that were really rare for 30 hours it took me to finish the game. In the end, I loved the game and would recommend everyone to play it. Unfortunately, I can't in all honesty give it the maximum rating because of couple moments. But the story is engaging and great, the gameplay is one of the best you can experience and the game just looks, sounds, feels and plays fantastic. A definite buy.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I wanted to like this game, I wanted to love this game so badly, but it's just not very good. It's not terrible, mind you, but it's not good either. Let's get the positives out of the way: combat is fine, it's basically the same as it was in TLoU 1. Graphically this game is stunning, it's amazing what the devs were capable of doing with the PS4.

With the positives out of the way, let's get into the negatives. The game feels less like a game and more like a movie simulator, and in a bad way. While it's not awful, it seems like some cutscenes just go on, and on, and never end. While the combat itself is fun, the way the game generally plays is...medicore at best, with long sections of nothing punctuated with combat encounters. And then there's the story. Oh, dear lord, the story.

There's so many plotholes, so many instances where characters survived wounds that would have killed characters in the first game. The concept of the story itself is fine, but it was executed so poorly that it destroys the game's value. Almost all of the new characters, if not all of them, that are introduced in this game die. Almost all of the old characters, and all of the old characters that most people care about (aside from Ellie) die. This game would have been like, a 6 or a 7/10 if it weren't for the absolutely awful ending. The story, literally, had no point. That's this game. You do everything, get to the end, and it's for nothing. Literally, and in the game's plot.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The story starts off decently, then makes what can only be summed up as a terrible decision an hour in. Moving past this they did well with what they scraped together and I'd say it plays as at least 8/10.

Then come even more terrible development decisions focing you to play as the worst protagonist a game has had for the last decade, not just in terms of character development but in how the character is shoehorned in. I pushed past this thinking that it would all lead to a satisfying conclusion, I was wrong.

The ending has characters making ridiculous decisions that don't stay true to who they are and it leaves you unsatisfied and in limbo, wondering where the value comes in, you'll never want to play through this again.

The game ultimately tries to play off of 'shock and awe' moments instead of trying to build a decent story. If you want to kill or save certain characters that's fine, just do it in a way that respects those characters and understand that this isn't the final season of game of thrones.

I can only imagine the critic reviews were bought either directly or through the tactic of pressuring for high scores under penalty of cutting a publication off from future events and early review copies, a commonly used tactic. Failing that I can't imagine any of these reviewers actually played more than 10 hours and should be ashamed of dishing out perfect scores to something that has disgraced it's predecessor.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’m honestly at a loss on how this game could stray so far away from its roots. Personally I’m tired of beautiful games that are just shallow in lore, stories, and interesting characters. While ND has continued to show their ability for map design and lighting, the gameplay seems to be almost untouched on improvements since 2013. Gunplay seems clunky and AI running straight at you with zero evasive ability while you clearly have a gun drawn on them feels brain dead. Not to mention the amount of bugs I experienced was something I expect from EA. THE STORY.... where to even start? The disrespect for Joel, the unloveable Abby, countless NPCs I’m supposed to care about but don’t... half the game spent trying to manipulate my first impression. Going on a murderous rampage for revenge, only for absolutely no pay off. I felt like the one being spit on.

It felt like there could had been a completely different arrangement of events to kill Joel off (If you absolutely felt the need too) and introduce Abby. A better back story and flash backs of the fireflies vs the Gov, memorable events from the last game sprinkled in as the trickling effects of Abby story is shaped by Joel. It all felt hollow and rushed like the narrative was so forced, the writers couldn’t even stomach enough to put typical ND effort in. I’ve already sold my copy to someone else as there’s zero Replay-ability due to the lack of MP and the fact I wish I could just get my time back from this game. I really tried to give it the game a chance even though I deleted/redownloaded twice out of pure distaste. I’ve played a lot of bad games over the years, most of which were bad due to being unfinished or due to indie Devs, but this, this was the opposite of everything I wanted to happen EVERY SINGLE TIME.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I want to preface this by saying that I absolutely loved the first game and its characters.

Let's talk positives first. The technical aspect is suberb. TLOUII is visually breathtaking, the animations, the sound, the graphics are impressive considering the almost decade old hardware it's running on, huge props to the visual and environment artists. Like holy **** the quality of the facial expressions is incredible.

The gameplay is alright, it's slightly improved here and there, you can go prone and takeout enemies by jumping on them, however it can go repetitive after a while since melee combat essentially is press square to hit and L1 to dodge, and there's not a lot of ammo around.

The story is where this game completely ****s the bed. It manages to destroy everything you loved about the first game. It is full of disappointment, misery, plot holes and characters doing stupid things and complete 180's in the span of hours. Playing as this comically buff villain that brutally tortures and beats Joel to death just so the story can progress feels so cheap and disrespectful. From that point on Abby becomes irredeemable no matter how much dogs or saving animals the story shoves down your throat during her flashbacks. You're supposed to feel bad for her because her father died, even thought he wanted to perform nonconsensual lethal surgery on a child for a make-believe "cure" that had no guarantee of working. Playing as her for half the game was miserable.
Ellie's flashbacks are so much more engaging and fun compared to the rest of the game it's like they were given to the new intern to write.

There are way more points to consider but I don't give enough ****s to cover everything. I don't think the game is a 0/10 because there are things to love about it, but no way in hell is this a 10/10. "You don't like the game because you're homophobic" is a **** strawman and most of the valid criticism doesn't involve that, even though for me personally it is slightly over the top.Great visuals, serviceable gameplay and horrible story. I'd give it a 5 the it wasn't for the controversy surrounding Naughty Dog abusing copyright laws to strike down youtube channels who were discussing the leaks and spoilers, not to mention the Joel false advertising, censorship double standards, Neil Druckmann lying that Ellie was the only playable character and Abby not being advertised anywhere even though she's the PC in half the game.

6.5/10 - As someone who bought the ps4 for uncharted 4, owns all the other games, tlou1 and even art books TLOU2 certainly doesn't disappoint from a VISUAL perspective. Visually speaking this is one of the best looking games with outstanding environment design and cinematic visual storytelling.

Unfortunately a game is a sum of its parts and visuals can only go so far. TLOU2 is a confused title that fails to clearly define itself as either a game or (what if often feels like.) a film.

Simply put the narrative elements, cut scenes and 'walking-talking' segments often interrupt and get in the way of the core stealth-combat-scavenge game play experience. Being forced to walk slowly through a sequence can be an irritating change of pace especially as this is a pattern throughout the whole game.

It would be easier to embrace this style and pacing if the narrative itself was actually more tolerable and immersive. However the story is riddled with plot devices, clichés and unintelligent characters.

Everything about the narrative is very contrived, characters act the way they do not because it is logical or organic, but because the story demands it.

Routinely characters will opt to engage in solo suicide missions rather than work as a group which leads to the laughable cliché of characters conveniently bumping into one another repeatedly. (Under near impossible odds.)
During every stage of the game characters will always find a way to make the most unintelligent choices they can. This includes a certain group not utilising radios or even combat knives despite being trained soldiers with access to military equipment! There are many examples of this kind and every time they serve as a plot device to either force the narrative or aspects of the game play.

In the end you are left with a game/film hybrid that feels too much like a film and a narrative with too much silliness to be taken as seriously as was clearly intended.
The final product feels very polished from a visual perspective; research and attention to detail are apparent resulting in a very realistic feeling/entertaining post apocalypse.
However this same standard and level of realism is clearly not delivered from a writing perspective, as is so often the case with today’s block buster films.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

In short, I loved it. There were a few lines of dialogue that turned me off or made me roll my eyes but the game itself is much more than that. There is plenty of enjoyment to be had from this game and I hope that others give it a chance. Even knowing key points about the ending, and feeling apprehensive about it as I played through, I never got to the point where I felt like it wasn't worth it to see things through. Two things keep me from giving the game a 10/10, one is a particular boss fight that is.... "stealth based?" which I did not have fun with. It was like hitting a brick wall as far as progress in the game. The other issue that I have is the play time/lack of replay value. While I enjoyed the game immensely I don't see much to do in a new game+ besides go through the story again which is something I might do years down the road but for now the case is just going to collect dust.

For a game centralized around a story, compared to the prelude of the first game, I was VERY disappointed. I almost quit playing 3 hours in. The graphics are great, but I don't care about that. I played this for the story. The battle is ok, but not much refined, just easier than in the first game.

Then this company decided to destroy the interest in the story I had in the first game.

Then this company decided to destroy the interest in the story I had in the first game. I've never felt so shat in my face as to playing this. It's not just what happened, it's how utterly disrespectful and mean they were towards the main characters. Shells of their former selfs. I was disgusted.

I could never manage to finish it. Please, hire Anita Sarkeesian as an advisor for the story and characters again. Please tell me in beforehand so I know the entire game is propaganda for PC politics, instead of being a good game with a story I would feel gripped around.

I will never again buy a game to pay to be shat in my face.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The last of us two does not live up to the standards set by the first game. While the game play and graphics have seen a dramatic improvement the story in my opinion is quite contrived and poorly executed. It is almost on the level of a poorly written fanfiction. The sequence almost seems like the events that happen in the game are out of order. Due to this game I don't intend to ever touch naughty dog games again. After one of the Main characters from the first games is killed in a very brutal way. I lost almost all desire to play. At least I did not pay for this game I got it from a friend who bought it and hated it. Expand

I ask everyone who is negating the game, to see The Last Of Us with other perspectives, within the game itself this is how it is. The Last Of Us is not just about Joel and Ellie, much less a happy story. This game brings countless interpretations about his events. The life lessons that this game brought, few games managed to do that. I've never seen a work of art that handled feelings of revenge and forgiveness as well as The Last Of Us Part 2 does. Not a game critic or anything, but the saddest thing about this game was the genuine potential it had with the visuals, sound design, visceral and violent combat (if you’re into that), and second to none voice acting and motion capture scenes - and they had to pretty much throw it away with a really disappointing story. Incredibly convoluted and rather unsatisfying by the time I finished it, it pretty much had no sense of achievement, fun-factor, emotion or flow compared to the masterfully written first instalment. The game definitely had its moments that were intense, but as a whole didn’t really add onto the quality of the overarching story, not to mention the really strange pacing issues at times.

The marketing and build up for this game was very misleading, and I won’t mention any spoilers - read the other reviews for spoilers, but those who know will know what I mean. The 'perfect' scores from big corporate review companies really do also highlight the unfortunate monopoly that a lot of these game companies have, the whole 'review copy' and embargo restrictions are topics of conversation that can be discussed to great lengths.

I can’t seem to understand Naughty Dog’s business tactic here, they definitely have the capabilities and money to produce a world-class game, I’m really confused about why Druckmann and his writing team would opt to go for such a ‘controversial’ story, that wasn’t even written very well in the first place - all to then slate the fans who didn’t ‘see’ the game for what it was on the internet? It doesn’t seem like a very profitable decision to me, not just from a financial perspective, but for reputation of the company. I am also very aware of the rumours of controversy behind the working conditions, Amy Hening getting fired etc. so maybe the studio is just not what it once was...

I genuinely do feel bad for the people at the company who dedicated the last 7 years designing one of the best looking and sounding games I’ve played so far, to go through all that effort in vain for such a disappointing story that I can infer for such a renowned studio could’ve only been a result of things like big disagreements, lack of input from a wide range of creators and poor management.

My score is in the yellows and not the reds purely for the incredible elements of the game mentioned at the beginning of my review, but without them, the game really does suffer from an incredibly disappointing narrative - the legacy of the first game has really been thrown down the drain for many fans.

The fond memories I have of the first game is what drove me to buy this sequel. I'll try to write with a general approach as to not spoil critical moments of the game. Going into this game I expected /something/ like the first game in terms of plot, but most of all I was just curious to see what the future held for Joel and Ellie. When "it" happened (if you've played the game you know what I'm talking about) I all of a sudden had an incentive and I was determined to follow it through. This part of the game also sets the tone for a lot of the game. It's not a happy story. It's quite a sad story about how one's goals can come at the cost of everything you hold dear. Yet, as I finished the game I thought the game could not have had a better ending. It's harrowing, but after the events that occurred throughout the game, I think this ending makes sense for all the characters, and I'm excited to see if there will be a Part 3.

I've noticed some people having trouble with there being themes of LGBTQ+ in the game. I myself was very neutral to this. Having gay characters and trans-characters don't affect my life, or my perception of these characters at all (other than the hardships these characters might've faced due to this, but that's a different topic). Towards the end of the game I became very happy for these characters, their sexuality wasn't even a factor into my being happy for them, just seeing these characters express happiness and love in such a devastating and dystopian setting made me feel genuinely happy and I was touched by this portrayal of companionship. I'm sure it means more to others than it does for me.

I do not want to spoil anything of the plot, as I think not knowing anything prior to playing the game really gave me the truest experience. Having my perspective and mindset challenged by the game was also incredibly interesting. I'd recommend this game based on the story alone and the emotional bonds you create with these fictional characters. It plays like a great book reads.

Other than that, I was astonished by the graphics and the attention to detail in this game. The atmosphere and sound design made me want to pause a few times due to the tension, but I felt it was part of the experience, so I endured.

Will play this game again countless times.

Before people assume this is because "Oh he does not like LGBT" No. I personally feel the way they handle Ellie being a Lesbian in the first game was done to perfection. However. The same kind of themes in this game feel forced down your throat and seem really poorly written. I gave this game a 1 out of 10. I did not give it a 0 because the graphical improvement is very well and I believe the graphics at least deserve some praise.

It breaks my heart what they have done to our beloved characters. Playing half of the game as a character we have no connection to or have any emotional investment into. I really want to wish that when I wake up tomorrow this was all a dream but I know it won't be, I really really hope that the developers open their eyes and see what they have done and don't make this mistake again.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is everything that was promised. It's brutal, brilliant, forceful, important narrative that addresses issues of pain, regret, anger and hate and their corrosive influences on life and society. It interrogates what it is to be a hero or a villain and deconstructs our childish cultural assumptions about what it is to be either. People review bombing it can suck all of the dicks. They're the same petulant **** who didn't like The Last Jedi because they found their assumptions being challenged by the narrative, the very thing that great art is supposed to do.

I'd be willing to bet a Confederate flag or two that a decent chunk of the hate this game has received from melt minded one handed typers is because they ditched the middle aged white male protagonist for a diverse band of superbly drawn non stereotypes that did just as well. All this anger because your favourite character dies. That's what stories do. All this, despite the fact that Joel spends the rest of the game present anyway, floating around in Ellie's memory like some sort of sexy omniscient god. Or maybe it's the confusion about which character is trans? Must be the muscly one? Right?

**** knows. All I know is that it's only insanity or being extremely hard of understanding that could make you put this game at anything lower than a 9.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It destroys my heart to give this game such a rating.
I waited so long for the successor and was unfortunately disappointed.
Joel's death was very frightening, but unfortunately predictable in my eyes. Ellie's revenge is therefore "justified". During the time you played Ellie, I had a lot of fun with the game and the flashbacks made the game perfect for me ...
But then there was the switch to Abby ...
From this point on the game only hurt in the heart. Why should I have fun playing the character who killed my beloved Joel ??
Ellie got a soul from Joel and I loved that about her so much. But then you play the psycho monster Abby and it's just cruel.
Now a few words to the end: I've never had a more unsatisfactory ending in a game than in The Last of Us Part II.
It may be that the developers wanted to make it clear that revenge is never worth it because Ellie ultimately lost everything, but that makes the end of the game so incredibly unsatisfactory.
My expectations were huge ... and they were smashed to the ground.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

Killing one of the most beloved game characters ever in such a raw and almost torture-like manner and then asking their players to put on the shoes of the perpetrator is a lot to ask for and there is probably no other studio in the world that would do it. In reality, one can be held accountable for one's actions and one rarely rides against the sunset and lives happily ever after. That everything is about perspectives and we all are heroes or villains depending on what part of our lives, what actions or people we encountered in the spotlight shines on may have never been better told in any media. To start off, I have to agree it wasn't the wisest decision to execute the MOST iconic character in the first game known as our Joel, so early on into the game. Not giving enough context behind the situation and sympathy towards the killer Abby. It was very hard to relate to her and even play as her for half of the game. As a fan I had to almost Ignore what had happened to enjoy this game.To start off, I have to agree it wasn't the wisest decision to execute the MOST iconic character in the first game known as our Joel, so early on into the game. Not giving enough context behind the situation and sympathy towards the killer Abby. It was very hard to relate to her and even play as her for half of the game. As a fan I had to almost Ignore what had happened to enjoy this game. Fortunetly it does get better later on after the event. Yes the story does fall short in some cases and is filled with plot holes, I do not agree with the direction of the game like everyone else, yet you cannot deny the attempt, vision and effort they tried putting into this game. It's mainly surrounding the hatred and vengeance, which drives to conclude nothing in the end because of all the loss both Ellie and Abby suffered through because of hate.

In conclusion, not all of it is terrible, many scenes are memorable. Feeling the emotional spark from the voice actors, the animations and voice acting to the small whispers and deep breaths. The BEAUTIFUL world and art direction is just fantastic especially on an OLED tv paired with the PS4 Pro. The relationship with Dina and Ellie is high class and finally the flashbacks with Joel and Ellie is what kept me playing this game.

At first it was really annoying, in the middle it became kinda weird, but in the end it turned out to be one of the greatest story in games ever.

I, personally, liked the two storylines of Ellie and Abby(though I think Abby's storyline was carried longer than it should be). This is not the route lot of us, the last of us part 1 fans(including me), we're expecting the developers to take, but i appreciate what they've done here and I think they've created a masterpiece. The visuals, the soundtrack, the gameplay, the story(with some flaws) is awesone. The only reason I'm giving it a 9 is because I wanted to see more of Joel and because Joel deserved a better death Expand

For me, the best game of 2020 yet.
+ Really original story that made me angry and also cry in really intense moments.
+ The best graphics on current-gen consoles (getting hyped for ps5 update)
+ Combat system, really brutal and immersive
+ Length - it took me about 30 hours to complete the story

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The controversy surrounding this game is minuscule to the engrossing story. This has developed into one of those games that truly shocks the player and exemplifies the grotesque nature of revenge. Nothing can truly prepare you, that is unless you played the first game. I am very partial to Ellie and Joel's relationship but in the game's opening act sets up the premise of the game until the very end of it.

The story has always been the series biggest strengths and we get to see it clearly in display here. Naughtydog's finest. Although timeline skipping and dancing back and forth are not my favorite ways of storytelling it does have it significance in the stories of both the main characters and their motivations.

I can't say that in this game world society's biggest enemy would be the fungus or the infected but the cruelty of desperate people trying to survive. It is on a damn pedestal here so big that you see it in the cover art of Ellie's anguish face.

The game controversial Lesbian romance and the Tran-sexual character is not that distracting from the story. I myself wasn't even a fan of it but it didn't deter me from completing the game.

The horror elements were topknotch and the music was very riveting. The new infected were really scary and that area in the hospital with Abby was truly something out of hell itself. The fights stealthiness through human patrols and settlements was on the edge of your seat. Extremely satisfying was taking out enemies in stealth while snaking your way onward.

So while people are upset that one of the MC does die or being upset about the LGBTQ characters spread sporadically in with the story don't let them distract you from a powerful tale of revenge in a woeful world pitted against the remaining survivors. You can't please everyone but at least the game has done well enough in its own right.

And be mindful of people who review the game on launch day. They didn't finish it and are just going off of hearsay downplaying on bias alone. I just finished it today at a sensible speed and appreciate the game for what it is. Lots of hate for something they clearly do not understand nor were they prepared for.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is an absolutely gorgeous piece of art that is so polarizing. It’s amazing the immediate knee jerk reaction this game has gotten. I went into the game spoiler free, but I figured Joel was going to die at some point. And boy did he die. It was horrible and I hated Abby so much throughout the first half of the game. I couldn’t understand why she did what she did and couldn’t believe that ND was trying to justify her story. When I finally got to the Abby v Ellie encounter after Ellie’s Seattle day 3, I was livid that I had to play as abby. I kept on killing her over and over again, saying “good, you deserve this.” But then the story began to unfold. Abby was just a little girl when all of her friends (besides a select few) were murdered before her by Joel, including her dad. Not only that, but Joel completely and selfishly took away the worlds only hope for a vaccine. Still, I was mad at Abby. But then you begin to learn more about her friends and why they are there. You start to feel empathy, which so many people on this site cannot wrap their head around. Abby didn’t want to kill everyone, she wanted justice and she got it. She spares Ellie’s life twice. Ellie, however, is so purely blinded by a need for revenge, very similar to Joel when his daughter died. Abby also gets to that point when she’s about to kill Dina, but chooses a different path because Lev (like Ellie in the first game) is her anchor to reality. She shows mercy and breaks that cycle. Fast forward to the final encounter, and you’ve finally gotten your chance to finish Abby. But then something hits Ellie, that none of this will bring back Joel and she’s falling into this same pattern he feel into years before. She chooses for the first time to see clearly and show mercy, not only for Abby but for Lev as well. It is an unbelievably good story.

Gameplay wise, there are so many improvements to the first game. Cover systems, AI, attack patterns, and ways to go about completely an area are heavily varied. I played on survivor and some of the parts were crushing to figure out. Zombies can get released on bad people, I could go on and on. It’s so much fun

Graphics, Sound, and locations speak for themselves, they are unbelievable. I felt like I was actually on top of a skyscraper or in SB while playing. My only gripe is that I feel some of the minor characters on ellie’s side could’ve been expanded on, especially Jesse and Dina. And that some of the plot is shock value. But that absolutely does not take away from this work of art.

I truly believe this game deserves GOTY and would be extremely surprised if it didn’t win it after initial sales we are seeing. Anyone rating this game 0-4 is a basement dweller who can’t emphasize with different points of view and try to walk through why characters do bad things. This game will hurt you, but that’s the point. It is a harsh reality about a post apocalyptic world.

I honestly don't get the praise nor the hate this game receives, the gameplay is fun and it's absolutely beautiful looking. The gameplay is great
The sceneries are amazing that at times i would get lost into the game
    The Sounds are unmatched
Both the Music and the soundtrack is as best as it ever was

But here's where we go downhill, The story looks as it is written by Ubisoft, But the sad part is that it isn't. The story contains way more plot holes than many games I've played this decade. The Characters are no nowhere like the first game. Joel and Tommy are so dumb in this game and so are most of the characters including those by Abby, They should've killed us off if they knew we were going to come after them. Ellie isn't like she was in the first game. i really wish this game was never released as it ruined the reputation of ND in me. I am just going to stick with the first game.

It is very apparent after reading the reviews that those who like this game are the very casual gamers, or those who haven't played The Last of Us Part 1 when it came out.

Very deceiving and shady by Sony Entertainment Corporation. We were promised a game just like the first game by the marketing and the fact that it is a sequel, but yet we got something miserable if you like the first game. As a standalone game it's also awful as the set piece is all wrong and the game is just too long. Wasted $60 I and many others will need a refund.

The message of the game, that revenge is bad and that it is good to forgive is lost during the game itself, since Ellie takes revenge on practically everyone, except for Abby, apart from the fact of the contradiction, since Abby gets her revenge for complete and does not give Joel the same forgiving benefit. The game treats Abby as a hero and turns Ellie into a villain, the motivation being the same, Joel killed Abby's father and Abby killed Ellie's "father" (Joel), however their fate is worked out different way. First they kill off Joel, then push the character who killed him (Abby) and make her into a character in which you are forced to play as. They also make the protagonist (Ellie) go on a revenge quest only at the end to spare Abby. Then seemingly leaving Ellie to return to nothing, making this whole story pointless. If they had a little bit of sense they would have given us at least some choices throughout the game. It has been 7 years, with that amount of time you could have made alternate endings. Expand

This game was something else for me, I found my heart beating so hard at so many times that I thought I was going to have a heart attack. I cried, I hated Abby but ended up understanding everything, I wanted to push Ellie so hard at the end to make her let everything go after seeing what happened to both of them.
I get why everyone is so mad at the developers and the writers but this is what had to happen from the beginning, all the death and the hate and the sadness had to come, along with us learning to see both sides as something good.

One of the best games I’ve ever played so far, I’m glad that everyone put so much effort into it and I’m happy that The Last of Us got such an ending.
