The game is difficult, it leaves you frustrated and nervous. However, when you can understand the narrative and stop clinging to the characters you love and focus on the plot and imagine as humans, you see a spectacular work by ND.

After 7 years it was definitely worth the wait, and this is easily the best video game ever made, and it’s not even close!

One of the most complex videogame stories ever told.
The Last Of Us Part II makes you feel all kinds of sensation. The story of this game requires reflection so that there is a clear understanding of why each character acted in the way shown, and I believe that this is the reason why many people did not like it.

I just finished this avalanche of excellence, this Mariana trench dive into the most obscure aspects of human nature, this monument to detail, craft, and unparalleled storytelling.

The Last of Us II is the new measuring stick for videogames; the depth of the characters is surpassed only by the stunning game art and uncompromised graphics. The game's detail and clarity take the PS4 Pro hardware to its limit; you can often hear the machine redlining, struggling to keep up. I, too, struggled to keep up along it, facing a riveting story of vengeance, hate, and rage, a true tour de force of purposeful violence that would give Tomas de Torquemada a run for his money.

I believe this game is the best I have ever played and might be the best created. Finally, I will say that players' negative reviews are precisely why expert critics exist, to praise art and excellence when commoners simply cannot recognize it. Only fools would not know this game for what it is, a 10/10 magnum opus that stands alone, at the top, with no peers.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is incredible because it did not tell the story that I wanted, instead it told the story that it had to. They really did a good a good job making a point that actions have consequences, as a result of the actions of Joel in the first game (killing that doctor who he didnt know, in a pure rampage of hate and selfishness) Abby kills Joel in the same way he killed her father. Even further that quest for Ellie in search for revenge ends up killing her friend Jesse, crippling Tommy and ultimately losing Dina and Potato in a last attempt of revenge. Even further she loses her fingers by Abby, rendering her useless when she has to play guitar, the thing she remembers Joel most.
Abby´s quest after killing Joel is simmilar to his victim, after doing incredible harm to the victim´s family, she feels guilty and tries to regain her humanity through the innocence of a child called Lev, sound familiar? This kid stopped her bloodlust from killing Ellie and Dina, giving her a chance to live her life once again, but its hate that ultimately makes Ellie´s worst fear come true, she ends up alone.
What I did not like was how they treated Joel´s death, it could´ve been better if he had put up some kind of fight, killing some wolves before he gets shot. Also the order of the flashbacks felt a little weird, which takes some point for me, the game is not perfect but it sure as hell is incredible.
Graphics are out of this world, the fact that I felt disgusted by every infected, by every wolf that Ellie killed with her dagger is awesome.
Gameplay is significantly improved with stealth, going prone and making distractions never failed to make me smart, also the jumpscares and tension this god dam game made question if I could continue playing.
Overall the game is incredible, but not perfect, a solid 9 out of 10.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. OK, I finished the game two days ago and I going to give my opinion not gonna be defending or whatever. At least for me I am happy with this game so much, I not saying I'm happy for Joel's dead but hey what can you expect for someone that doomed humanity and killed the father of the person who killed him? I'm also not saying he deserved to die, I mean I loved that character and I still think he became one of the biggest icons in video games but decisions have consequences. Going back to the decision, It's a super hard choice most of the humans would have done what Joel did cause think of it... sacrifice a daughter, son, or any family member to save people yo don't know? Yeah, it's super hard but still in our inside we'll know that saving humanity is the right call. For me what makes this game unique is the fact that is something different by not giving you the stuff you will really wanted to see, not everything can be a happy ending. Finally, thank you Neil Druckmann and the Naughty Dog team for making these past seven years of waiting worth it. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After playing The Last of Us, I knew it was going to be hard for Naughty Dog to successfully write a meaningful sequel to it. While TLOU2 didn't quite match the same level of perfection as the original, it was still truly a masterpiece that sent me through an emotional rollercoaster. Before getting into the story, I'd like to address the other aspects of the game beforehand. First off the visuals. The graphics in this game are downright some of the most impressive I have ever seen and no doubt pushed my PS4 to the max (my PS4 literally sounded as if it was going to explode while running the game). The most impressive part is that the game ran buttery smooth throughout my whole 24-hour playthrough.
Next up, the gameplay. While remaining very similar at heart to the original, TLOU2 fine-tuned the mechanics to the point where there was nothing to complain about. The game includes many different and unique animations for takedowns and melee so the combat never feels stale. Allowing Ellie to go prone to sneak through the grass also adds another layer of strategy to the game that only further improves the gameplay. ND also improved the enemy AI to make them much smarter and aware of the environment. They even make callouts when they spot you and converse with each other using each one of their unique names. Some enemies also have dogs patrolling with them, which makes some situations more challenging and satisfying when you take them out. The layout of the terrain is also strategically placed so that the user can take multiple routes for each enemy encounter.
Now onto the voice acting. The acting in this game has got to be the best I've ever seen in a video game. Multiple times through the game I almost forgot that I was playing a video game because it feels like you're watching a movie. The facial expressions are also extremely realistic.
Finally, the most important part (and most controversial), the story. I'm not gonna lie, the story went neither the way I expected nor wanted. The fact that Joel got brutally murdered by Abby so early on completely enraged me and made me, like Ellie, want to do anything in my power to get revenge. For the first half of the game, you travel throughout the beautifully crafted and larger than expected city of Seattle. While I explored every nook and cranny of Seattle, there were many small but beautiful moments to experience. The one that stood out the most was the part in the music shop when Ellie grieves over Joel and starts to play his song (Future Days by Pearl Jam), but has to stop because she gets too sad, but then proceeds to play Take On Me and bonds with Dina. It's the little moments like this that really make this game special. After this, the game continues down Ellies' path for revenge until she finally runs into Abby, the extremely buff lady that ruthlessly killed Joel. At this point, you're about halfway through the game. Before you can find out what happens, the game forces you to play as Abby for the next 10 hours, which seemed to be a little bit too long for me, but I understand ND's intentions. While playing as Abby you go through a series of flashbacks and finally find out her motives for killing Joel. After I found out that her father was the doctor that Joel mindlessly impaled a scalpel through their throat, I finally realized the reasons behind Abby's actions. I honestly felt like they were justified. I mean if my father was a great guy who was trying to create a cure that could alter the course of history and save humanity, got murdered, I'd want to get revenge too. Now for the ending, I was actually satisfied with it. It shows that Ellie has finally come to terms with the death of Joel and realizes that killing Abby won't make her situation any better and that nothing will come out of it other than more sorrow. This is a game about revenge and loss. Ellie and Abby’s urge for revenge left them both alone in the end and Ellie pitying Abby finally breaks this cycle, albeit she lost two fingers.
In the end, Ellie is left alone, Dina has left her, and Joel is gone forever. Due to Ellie seeking revenge one final time, she lost her perfect life and has made it impossible for her to play gee-tar anymore, which was her one way to remember Joel.
I know this game isn't the happy loving/bonding story we got in the first game, but I believe it’s being unjustly hated on. I feel like people are failing to understand that this game is about perspective and how there are no good guys and depending on how you look at it, anyone can be seen as the bad guy. Ellie and Abby are actually very similar characters that both have motives for their actions, we just see Ellie as the good guy since we followed her story in the first game. Had TLOU been about Abby and her father, then we’d hate Joel and want him dead at all costs. This is a beautiful game that played with my emotions like no game has ever done before and definitely deserves the title of a Masterpiece.

If the game had been a straight up linear tale of revenge, it wouldn't have been interesting. The artistic approach the developers used took me on a roller-coaster of emotions. I think the developers were very conscious of how the player would feel at various stages in the game and used that to heighten the story.

It may or may not go without saying but the visuals, combat, controls, and interface are all outstanding. On these merits alone the game deserves a play through. I give huge props to their art/design/animation teams. They put some serious love and care into the designs, and it shows. The voice acting, as expected, was also exceptional.

I do think there is some time towards the middle of the game where the story stalls out a bit, but with some patience things picked right back up shortly after.

I don't want to throw out words like "masterpiece" or "perfect", but I will say this game was EXCELLENT. The ending will sit with me for a while and this series has a spot in my hall of fame.

Nos hace reflexionar las consecuencias de nuestros actos, sin importarte el motivo “Bueno o malo”, todo tiene consecuencias.
Graficarte es espectacular, llega el límite grafico permitido en una ps4. Even though this game gets a lot if hate for its storytelling the story is great as well as the gameplay What people don’t understand about the ending is that Ellie had nothing to gain from killing Abby and everything to lose. Her obsession of getting revenge consumed her emotions and she lost everything she had up to that point. The death of Joel causes her to lose her humanity, Lose Jesse, Lose Dina, Lose Her relationship with Tommy, Hell she even lost her fingers and can’t play the guitar anymore. Her vengeance would be pointless because it would solve anything. So it’s a great story and and hopefully people will understand this story in a couple years Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Giving this a 10 to flush out some of the negative reviews with little to no context. My rating for this game would be somewhere closer to a 7 or an 8, mostly because expectations were super high due to the perfection of its prequel, and this game didn't match up to that perfection. Playing as Abby is the only reason I'm negating any points, simply because it just wasn't as enjoyable as playing as Ellie, obviously, even though I did appreciate a look from her perspective. However, a beautiful game nonetheless. I wanted to give it a bad review until I saw the ending. For most people, the ending was bleak and unsatisfying. To me, it was a perfect wrap up to the game and to the story of Ellie and Joel. I do agree with the angry gamers that Abby deserved to die in the end, but I also completely understand why the developers decided to showcase Ellie letting her go free. As she pictures Joel peacefully playing the guitar before ultimately deciding to let Abby live, I believe Ellie realizes that vengeance will not bring him back. She also can probably see that Abby and Lev somewhat have their own little Joel and Ellie tale going on. With the loss of Ellie's fingers, we see her lose the ability to play the guitar as well as she used to, and this, to me, shows her memories of Joel fading, as she can no longer pass down the last thing she had to offer in his name. The discomfort I felt was similar to that of the end of the last game. While, I agreed with Joel's decision at the end of the first game and didn't necessarily agree with Ellie's decision at the end of the second, doesn't mean I'm going to be angry at it for what it is and what it's made to be: an uncomfortable tale in an uncomfortable universe. The first game was about love and ended with a somewhat "evil" decision. The second game was about hate and ended with a not so evil decision. That's what I love about this series. The uncertainty and the raw human emotion rather than mindless characters with absolute consistencies simply for entertainment. This was a tale about revenge, and all throughout it we could see Ellie begin to get lost in her trauma which causes her to make some inconsistent and really hard to watch decisions, as a real person would. In the first game she mentions to Sam that her biggest fear is being alone, and at the end of the second game we see her deeply alone in her abandoned home attempting to play a guitar with the fingers she has left. Revenge is damaging, and that was the mission of this story. The "good guy" isn't always going to win and the "bad guy" won't always get what they deserve. Naughty Dog has always been ambitious in showing us that truth, rather than putting what everyone wants to see up on the screen. We all want to see a perfect revenge story concluded with, well, revenge, but the developers wanted to tell us a story, and they did. A damn good one too. They gave us a start to a discussion of morality, which is what this game has always been about. Not to mention the graphics and gameplay are phenomenal. In the Ellie segments, I couldn't put my controller down because the combat was so compelling, and so was the story. This is definitely worth a play. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. WARNING: THIS IS A VERY VERY VERY SPOILER FILLED REVIEW

People who hate on this game and refuse to play it because of what happens at the beginning have never actually watched and/or read Game of Thrones and it shows.

This story is in no way shape or form, a happy story. Everyone has become so accustomed to happy endings or things going exactly the way they want it to. This is story is tragic, depressing, violent and brutal, sickening and it. Is. Brilliant. From watching Ellie slowly slip into madness as she runs through Seattle on her Quest to find and kill everyone involved with Joel being murdered. The scene where Ellie is at the hospital beating the **** out of Nora for information on Abby. Ellie killing Owen and Mel and then realizing that Mel is (or was, at that point) pregnant. Her fight with Abby in the theater begging Abby not to kill Dina because she is pregnant as well. ALL of that is a story of what revenge REALLY does to you.

With Abby's story, I was **** pissed at the beginning. I was screaming at the top of my lungs and then later on I am forced to **** play as the character that I hate? No no no no no. **** that. But I kept playing and you start to slowly understand everything about why she did what she did. The story humanized her and I hated that when the ending came, I was pissed that I loved it.

Neil Druckman and everyone at Naughty Dog are sick in the head. They make you care about a character that you are supposed to hate down to her core. Or at least care for her to SOME degree. (I'd be lying if I said I didn't die on purpose MULTIPLE times during the Abby and Ellie fight in the theater just because I wanted to see Abby die.) But at the very end... I didn't want that. I did not want to see Ellie slip into a place of no return. If she actually went through with it, darkness would have consumed her and then Last of Us Part 3 would have just been about Lev getting revenge on Ellie or some **** So I believe the ending was perfect.

This game does not deserve the flack it is getting. It's is a tragic and depressing story and everyone needs to stop wining about it. 10 out of 10. Hands down.

It's heart-achingly real in how it portrays trauma and Ellie experiencing intense guilt. I found her and her relationship with Dina an accurate portrayal of an LGBT+ relationship. I understood their motivations. Their love despite the pain around them inspire me and I feel that it's realistic.
However, a lot of people are upset about the lack of Joel. While I enjoyed Ellie and Joel's banter, it makes so much sense for Ellie's personal growth to have him die. I don't think the way it was done was great, it certainly could have been rewritten or redone, but I think that it needed to happen.
The experience was overall pleasant and I hope that others can have as much fun with it as I have had. Please look past the hate and see what a visual masterpiece it is. Appreciate the overall themes and character building, if nothing else.
    To Summarize:

    2. There's a lot hate in these comments and that's all well and fine people can have different opinions but 80% of the vitriol here would be non existent if this story revolved around straight cis white males let's be honest. These negative reviews pan this or that with hollow excuses that can be seen through. Go into this game with an open mind like I did and I really don't think you'll be disappointed, people are projecting their mindsets and opinions onto this too much because it's not what they wanted.
To combat some critics I just read,
    1. Environmental puzzles are way better in this game it's not just find the ladder/pallet any more there's more options and routes and as such becomes less repetitive.
    2. Stealth is way better, yeah not accurate but hey all games use the hide in tall grass bit.
    3. Stealth is better because it's easier to get back into stealth and because melee/CQC has been greatly improved. The addition of a dodge mechanic makes hand to hand such a better option than the first and much more fun. It's not just button mash square until their dead anymore. You learn how different enemies attack hand to hand. Some are flurry attacks some are one and done, etc... 4. Enemies aren't scripted like the last game which balances the new strength of melee in that you have to be aware of how many enemies are around because they don't do that dumb thing other games do where the enemies will wait for you to get out of a grapple. They will pile onto you which adds more depth to combat.
    5. If you read another users review that says, "How this game is full of such SJW political agenda **** and you agree then yeah probably don't play it because you sound like the type to not be open minded enough to get me involved in the story. Just saying. Oh 6.
Some say they didn't change the gameplay or crafting. To that I say what franchises do, COD hasn't changed in decades, Halo, Rockstar (with their absolutely atrocious gameplay) haven't changed GTA or RDR. ND tweaked and improved enough IMO with the dodge addition, more craftable items, more skills to unlock, and adding more ways to stealth (tall grass, silencers, dogs that track your scent) etc... These complaints are where I really see people just looking for things to point at as flaws so they don't get called out for just mindlessly **** on the game because it has a progressive story and progressive stories that dont directly related to their majority privilege outlook. Tbh I feel sad for these individuals because they are just going to dislike everything that comes out in the future with that mentality

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Believe it or not, I actually beat the game. As a person who doesn't hate trans people, women or queerfolk, I can confidently say that this game is a privilege to play. When I heard there was a trans character, I rolled my eyes expecting it to be a forced diversity cash grab. However it felt natural, infact the reasoning for such a choice made sense and propelled the story into further complex beautiful story writing. The game really makes you understand the heavy burden of what it means to take a life. The fact that NPCs that you kill have names that are cried out by their friends when their bodies are found, hits so deep. Watching your knife hit an artery as blood spews out while the victim expresses pain silently is very hard to watch. There was times I didn't want to kill to avoid this heavy burden. At times I found myself hating Abby, then hating Ellie, then loving Abby. My love and hate for the characters were ever changing and it really made you realize how nobody in this world is a completely good person. Joel of all people is definitely not one of them, yet I realized how hard his death hit, more so than any other character I've enjoyed. I love that man, and Troy Baker's voice acting, but what I hated more was saying goodbye. Another complexity I found was that the gameplay is stupid fun. So fun but morally hard to continue the killing spree that is LoU2. There was many times I wanted to fail boss battles and would let the NPC get some hits in because I was so conflicted about who should win, and what "winning" meant. Don't believe all the reviews here, some of them are just men from gamergate who haven't even played the game. My only complaint, or reason for me to not rank this as a 10 out of 10, is that Naughty Dog treated their devs very poorly. I think safety and we'll being should always be considered when ranking games. A large part of me wanted the game to suck so that Naughty Dog would see the repercussions of maintaining a bad workplaces, but the other part of me wanted it to be good so that all the sacrifice of the devs would have been worth the stress. Naughty Dog as a company needs to adopt the "ready when it's ready" policy. But people also need to go into games with open minds. Enjoy the game, I sure did. If you don't that's fine too! Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I feel absolutely screwed by naughty dog. Let me start by saying the gameplay, graphics, general feel of the game is amazing. Where this game goes downhill for me is the writing. Let me be clear, if have developed a strong connection to joel and ellie, dont risk playing this game. Early on in the game joel is killed by abby. And after that, all we want is to kill these evil chick and her friends. It seems to be going that way until about 20 hours in. All the sudden you pick up with playing as abby again. Not knowing that your time with ellie is basically over. They try to get you to see things from abbys point of view, which is where they screwed up big time. The real fans of this game are here to play as ellie. Not abby, the **** who killed and tortured joel. There could always be another side to a character. Why would they even think about ruining our connection with ellie by trying to show things from your nemesis POV. At one point you actually beat the hell out of ellie. I felt compelled to let ellie kill me as abby about 10 times before I actually finished beating her(ellie!!) Like would you ever see that done in uncharted? I think not. So anyway you eventually get a bit more time with ellie, only to have a very underwhelming ending. Its a video game, how did naughty dog think this story path was the most intriguing is beyond me. We've seen by the first 'last of us' that they can make a very emotional game with a positivish ending. I'm not saying a game where ellie and all her friends live and get that much wanted revenge, but maybe one where we play as ellie for the game and not half as ellie and half as the girl we want to kill. Just feels like a GIANT slap in the face. And the people that say the game is in a post apocalyptic world. Not everything is gonna work out. Well those ppl obviously aren't attached to the characters. There is a reason these reviews are so low. I was literally hating on these people giving low scores....until I finished the game..... This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I wanted to like this game because I loved the first game. So I will start with what I liked about the game that at times made it redeemable: the voice acting was great, I enjoyed seeing relationships during the game, the music was great and the scenery/ graphics was beautiful. What I did not like: forcing us to play as Abby to show us her point of view/ trying to make us feel sympathetic for her. The game felt too long and I found myself saying multiple times “is this really still going? Can’t it end” I never felt like that in the first game but this game was painful to play. There was good points that if they had just stayed with it would’ve been better. I felt like they ruined previous characters traits and actions and it felt untrue to the characters. The game kept glitching especially during important scenes. I could go on for hours about it but I feel like this game ruined the first game and I’m choosing to pretend it didn’t exist. Everything I loved about the first game and the dlc for the first game was lost here. The game needed Bruce Straley I guess. My advise is not to play unless you like to be tortured throughout a game with what seems to be torture porn and lazy writing that.

Props to the voice actors and graphic designers though!

This is just something I had to talk about. Something I had to speak my words for. This game is art. As someone who loved the first game and still loves the first game, this game exceeded expectations highly. Every gameplay system, mechanic, story arch and character is amazing and flushed out fully. Never once did the game fail in trying to make me feel a certain emotion. It made me make hard choices. It questioned the very purpose of the way to play games, and how sometimes as the saying goes “the only way to win, is not play”. Never has a game before this exemplified and embodied what that means, to this extent. It took characters I loved, and made them real. There is no good, no bad, just gray. Every expectation I had going into this game was somehow flipped on its side. What a lovely, gruesome, dark, and scary game. The symbolism alone is heartbreaking. At the forefront of the story there’s a duality between characters and their intertwined journeys that I think is unmatched in revenge tails. The debate over what this game is trying to say will last for years, and I just wish I could take part of it more. I could go on. But I think it’s just best to experience for yourself. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is by far the worst game I have played. It hurts me to write this as the first games holds a dear place in my heart. Here are my complaints:
1.) Joel: Joel somehow, though still going out of Jackson to hunt, has turned soft. He and Tommy both give out their names to a group of ARMED strangers and offer for them to come back to camp. It was heart-wrenching to see him be killed off in the first three hours, and the reasoning behind his death was terrible.
2.) Not only was it enough for ND to kill off Joel, they make you play as his killer for 10+ hours... no thank you. Nothing you could have done would make me like her. Especially since they have the game begin with his death. Maybe, if they had made Abby's gameplay first we would have gained more sympathy for her, but no.
3.) Tommy: So Tommy gets shot in the head by Abby in the theater, and somehow survives, it'd be hard enough to survive in today's world with that kind of injury, let alone a post apocalyptic. When we see Tommy again, he informs us that Abby is still alive. He wants us (Ellie) to go after her again ALONE after nearly dying by her earlier. We settled a life on the farm with Dina and her baby. Ellie doesn't want to go, and Tommy gets mad at her, it is so out of character for Tommy to act that way, it pains me to even watch that scene. They butchered his character along with the game.
Overview: Gameplay is great, graphics are phenomenal, but there it'll be a cold day in Hell before I play this game again. The first game was great, it's a shame to see Neil Druckmann ruin yet another series. The 7 year wait was not worth it.

The story is far more complicated both in plot and in the style of story-telling. It made me feel angry, guilty, reluctant and miserable. The gameplay is fine tuned and the environments are ridiculously densely-detailed. It's evident how it took 7 years to create.

There are significantly more complicated enemies and allies. Everyone feels far more real and fights for their lives. Nobody wants to die but so many will. The way an enemy will gurgle on their own blood when missed headshot gets their neck to the way an enemy will scream with fear at being dismembered but still alive. The way brain matter will hit the wall and slide down it, and blood will streak and splatter across surfaces. There's so much more I can't mention.

The audioscape is the best of any game I've ever played. Setting the dynamic range to wide makes the footsteps of an infected stalker in a derelict building a quiet rustle that's hard to detect, and a blast of your shotgun deafening. The surround sound options create an incredibly immersive and frightening sound experience. The story is harrowing. The gameplay is just simply hectic. It's a dark masterpiece that I honestly don't think is that fun. It's horrible and often frightening. Sections of peaceful story-developing sequences are suceeded by brutally violent encounters in a way that humanises, then brutally desensitises you, over and over. It's an exhausting journey that is far bigger and longer than the first game. Having played the first one 6 times, I think it will be a while before I can play this one for a second time.

Darken the room, close the door and get a good pair of headphones. There's no better way to appreciate this experience.

People are overreacting towards the writers drama choices. The story isn’t as good as in the first game (that’s no demerit, since I fail to find a game that has accomplished that) but it doesn’t diminish the game’s quality as people have been saying on their reviews.
    I simply loved it!

I don't think it would be appropriate for everyone to rate a game only one mark. TLOU2 still has a lot of humanity in it instead of focusing on Joel's death

I love this game, perfect balance of puzzles and action. The story is amazing too. It really let's you see things from different perspectives. Brilliantly done. The details are also incredible e.g. ropes and the use of them, the use of gravity and so forth.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’m starting by saying I waited until I finished this game to review. When I finished, I was apart of the 16.2% that have at least started the game and played it to the end. Here’s what i have to say.

The game has been one of the best games I’ve played in my life. As a fan of the first game I understand why Joel’s death is a outrage to some fans. When you give us a game that we play as the character and feel a complete badass to see him hurt and screaming it hurts it really does. However, that does not mean the game has “bad writing” I can say I didn’t agree with some of the decisions the team made but they did a fantastic job on this game especially with all the hurdles it had to jump. Leaks, the leaks is what ruined the “user score” for this game. That's not their fault, but even if you “seen/read the leaks” you won’t know what's true until you play it all the way through. Also not having multiplayer at launch is another reason why it has bad reviews and that's not fair, they never said they ditched it completely. I assume on the ps5 version it will have a dlc or multiplayer.

Ellie has to make tough choices along the way of her trip and if you play the game how she said she would, I don’t see how the people reviewing this game can say “its too violent, or the dogs omg stop making me kill the fluffy babies that are trying to eat my face off

I see why people might not like this game as much as the first game, as they were expecting a game with the same quality story as the first last of us, and they might be disappointed when they play the game and figure out that the game is going in a different direction all together. However what people do not realize is that this game isn’t trying to tell as complex of a story as the first game, and what it is really about is the message it is trying to share, it shows you a vicious cycle of violence and death and how your actions can hurt you later on, the message it is trying to share is a great one, and it comes off very strong and does that in a very good way. My downsides to the game would have to be the pacing and the structure, Joel is killed so early that it cements the idea of abby being the villain very early, it would have been nice for us to play as her for more time and really build a connection with this character and realize all that she has lost and gone through and what she has done to get where she is, but it’s hard to empathize with her after our first impression of her is so awful. Im not mad at Joels death but it could have definitely been dealt with better and later on in the game. The story also started to drag after we play half the game as Ellie, go through her struggles and emotions and also collect upgrades, new guns, training manuals ...etc, but then forced to be a character we are supposed to hate, and have to restart from the beginning collecting new materials and guns, upgrading your health and more. Playing as abby wasn’t bad, some of the coolest parts of the game were played as her, but it didn’t feel the same, and you don’t like her, and you don’t sympathize with her when her friends die, because you don’t like them either. All in all, this game could’ve been a bit better if only they structured in better and let us like abby more before making us hate her. But the game has stunning graphics, imagery and scenes, the gameplay is awesome and combat is great. This game doesn’t deserve all the hate because people aren’t truly looking to see what the game is about, and the deeper meaning into the characters lives and how they intersect and weave together to form something bigger. The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
