    A hard pill to swallow, but this game is extremely disappointing, no matter how good the game looks, or how well it plays if the story fails then the game fails because the story is what made its predecessor one of the games of a Decade, whereas this is just hollow

    Terrible story. But it is not just a bad story it is bad, very bad because of the political agenda forced in this game. Sorry but games like TLoUS without a good story, they just bad action games.

    Really wanted to rate this game higher, but after finishing the game all i'm left with is a bad feeling that sticks, and for anyone looking to play the game I say this: if you have a depression I would advise you to reconsider as it might just make it worse.

    I’m giving it ten because a lot of you are being stupid but it definitely deserves a nine! A game (or story in any medium) hasn’t made me think so deeply about human conflict basically ever. This story is challenging to get through but brilliant! Think about the fact this is actually what would happen in this situation. Everyone wants realism and you got it in spades people!     This game is a disrespect to the fans of the first one. While the graphics and gameplay are great, the main selling point of the first one was its story and the relation between the two main characters. They managed to ruin everything in this one.

    The Last of Us Part II takes place 5 years after the events of the original game, with Ellie, Joel and a number of survivors settling down to a relatively peaceful existence in Jackson, Wyoming. The infected are still out there… and there is still no cure or vaccine, nor is there much information regarding the possibility of one.     I was very excited about this. I can not even put it in my words. My hype did continue even though I was unfortunately exposed to the leaks. I knew there will be a devastating scene where our beloved Joel would be murdered brutally. Even though knowing this, I was eager to play the game. I believed that the professional scriptwriting team knew what they are doing.

    The first problem about the game is it starts as a really slow game and paces up by not rushing it. However this was not a problem for me and probably for the fans of the first game, at least that is what I thought since we waited for 7 years to get our hands on this game and the slow build-up is a foreseeable part for a great story. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Don't get me wrong here, the game is top-notch in terms of graphics, sounds and combat mechanics. I can not even think if these great features were flourished with a unique and touching story. I see and congratulate the brave ideology about making the hated protagonist as the second part of the game. However, it just did not work for me and probably for most of the fans.
    For example, one of the best sequences in the game was the Sky Bridge and the Hotel part for me. The design was just perfect. However, the reasoning and the fact that you were playing the unfavored protagonist made it a very ordinary episode.
    There was an immense effort to make us empathize with Abby. Underlining her likable bits so strongly made it a very hard thing to adapt. Trying to achieve the same emotional response similar to the first game with the relationship between Abby and Lev, even though they tried it very hard, the problem was there was no reasoning under it. This made it very hard to buy it even though I wanted to.
    The final sequence was just a mess. I understand the morals they are trying so hard to shove at our faces, however, for that, I can go and watch a random movie or tv series that does it a hundred times better. It was highly unnecessary and just very sad.
    One last thing to mention is false advertising. I know that they have a right to do this but seriously? I believe this should be a serious point which should be criticized as abusing their fans trust.    … Expand

In fact I restarted it after it did a weird thing where all the enemies were stood still and, when I snuck up on them. I did this Scarecrow thing behind them. But I am loving it. I also read some of the user scores reviews on metacritic. Pretty much all of them were put up on the day of release. Meaning most of them instead of playing the game were probably sat at their PC waiting to put a negative on it after seeing the spoilers haha.

    All these reviews about how bad the story and, the ending are. All posted on the day of release. Just means that none of them actually played the game. Yes Joel dies. It's all to move the story on. Yes its upsetting but have none of you watched the walking dead?    … Expand

Whatever Niel Druckmann, Naughty Dog and Sony were hoping to achieve with this title, I hope it was worth it. All three have been tainted in my eyes, and any representation they were striving for has backfired significantly. Played the whole play-through, 25 hours and the whole time I just wanted to forget about this and go back to LOU1 which is my favorite game of all time. Because of the first game, the story is everything to me. Yes, the graphics are awesome, the scenery is beautiful, the voice acting & acting is perfect. BUT, a huge BUT,I'm really saddened about the story Naughty Dog decided to go with. I can honestly say that very few games can come close to what Naughty Dog have done. As always, the music was beautifully done and the graphics are unparalleled.

    Do yourself a major favour, stop listening to the people who haven't played it, and start listening to those who have. This game is a definite candidate for game of the year, and it is very deserving of that title.

    Uma obra-prima dos videogames. Com gráficos lindos, jogabilidade divertida e uma história de tirar o fôlego. The Last Of Us 2 é muito mais que um jogo de vingança, é um jogo sobre consequências.     Anything else thats not mentioned above is pure disappointment. It would been better they never made the part 2. Go watch some Let’s Play on youtube to save yourself wasting time playing the story and your earth dollars that could’ve been spent on better games or even waste it in gambling is fine.

    Visually the game is stunning, it's one of (if not) the best games on any console.

    The gameplay is average, while stealth is a fantastic mechanic it was destroyed the abundance of quicktime events and lack of puzzles. The linear gameplay and lack of choice in this game is frustrating.

    Most importantly the story was terrible, killing off a beloved character early based on choices they never would have made in the first game doesn't make any sense. You're then expected to play as a character that you have just witnessed kill a beloved character with no backstory at all. Without going into all the issues with the back and forth revenge plot at the end we end up with no pay off. No choice but to watch our supposed "protagonist" make stupid decisions and ultimately lose everything while the "antagonist" gets everything they ever wanted with nothing lost. The worst part for me is the betrayal Ellie has for Joel, a man who did everything to save his little girl only to be beaten down by said little girl at every possibility even in the final moments of the game....

Story is going to be the make or break for people. A open mind is needed, you may not like all the characters in this game but you will know why they do what they do. There are no heroes or villians in TLOU, the view is relative to where your standing. The game does not play nice and neither can you, you need to get you're hands dirty, make that bloody. While not without its faults, this is the best game ive played since Red Dead Redemption 2 back in 2018.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Before I even begin with my paltry review, let me implore those on the fence: do not just look at numbers and hype. Experience this game for yourself and let it speak on its own. Few games have ever caused me to have such a visceral emotional reaction as The Last of Us. It is only fitting, then, that it’s sequel would up that ante beyond my wildest expectations. Despite it not being a perfect game, it is as reasonably close as I think any game could ever get. Let me explain some aspects that really resonated with me. *SPOILERS AHEAD*

    First of all, despite any news to the contrary, the character development in this game is brilliant, subtle, and definitely not based on any agenda other than telling gripping stories. From the symbolism (Ellie’s butterfly moth tattoo, the guitar, etc), to the incredible voice and performance acting, this game sparkles. Ellie’s transformation throughout her revenge quest is so deep it is almost insane to try to speak about it in writing. After she tortured Nora to death, she returns to the theater, shaking and horrified with what she has done. At this moment you see her passion for this killing spree wane as she is content with killing only one more person: Abby. But then she is forced to kill both Mel and Owen, which forces her over the edge of horror with what she has become: a ruthless child murderer. She gets ready to outright abandon her quest, despite having done unspeakable things in the name of revenge. How fitting then, that her actions come back to haunt her just when she would leave it behind. She viscerally loses a friend instantly and nearly loses her life and the last two people she cares about. But then, we see Abby willing to let her go of her hate despite the horrible things she has done as her greatest moment of redemption. Then we see the ramifications of this moment of mercy.

    I will be honest, I have never wanted a game to end more than when Ellie and Dina were living happily on their farmstead. At this point, the circle of violence was broken. Ellie was happy, safe, and had everything in the world that mattered. But it would not be a Naughty Dog game without a last haunting bit of story. Ellie just cannot let go of the festering hate inside of her. She cannot stop herself from seeing out her revenge. But in the ultimate twist of fate, her gut wrenching encounter with Abby ends with Ellie finally finding a way to let go. She beautifully recalls her attempt to forgive Joel, and we are left to know that she is trying to find a way to let forgiveness heal her broken soul. But it comes so late that she has lost everything. Physically, she has lost the ability to play guitar, her last connection with a Joel. This alone almost made me weep at the end bitterly. But worse yet, she lost the only two people in the world she has left to love. She lost her family. Yet with that final line, “I’d like to try,” Ellie gives this heartbreaking narrative the faintest glimmer of hope. The juxtaposition of the themes of hope and The crushing loss that always accompanies hate are what make this game resonate in such a deep way. Outside great literary masterpieces we rarely are treated to so nuanced a perspective on our human condition and imperfections. I won’t comment deeply on Abby’s narrative. Suffice to say it felt that her piece of this story was to pour a little gray into the moral mix, and give an opportunity to brilliantly flesh out the world and its factions. Lev also makes a great additional character, exposing both the philosophy and the perversion thereof in the Seraphites. He also gives an opportunity for Abby to spare Dina where she would have otherwise made the circle of violence continue uninterrupted. Overall, I cannot express how deeply incredible this game is. I haven’t even touched on the technical genius of this game because there is nothing remotely like it. The physics, the environments, the subtle ways the NPCs treat each other and their environment, all work to achieve the perfect immersion in this game. I cannot stress this enough; ignore the review bombs, and experience this game for yourself.    … Expand

I don't care about the SJW propaganda, I just wanted another story about Joel and Ellie, but they gave me this **** story, poor character development, the only good thing are the graphics. How can you kill Joel in such a shameful way? The toughest survivor, that doesn't trust anybody, just walks into a room full of strange people and tells them his name, like he didn't kill anybody in the previous game. It's obvious that some people will want revenge after you kill their friends/family. If only he had died in an epic way, my score would have been different but that **** death made me want to burn the game.
    This is one of those games that were destroyed because of SJW, they consider that a perceptive and smart woman like Ellie can't be helped by a clever tough white man that represent everything they don't have.    … Expand

    Beautiful game, excellent gameplay. Horrible script. A giant "screw-you" from Druckman to the fans. His likeness even spits on the corpse of a beloved character. We were Game of Thrones'd on a massive scale. Although the story is awful and it will destroy how much you loved the first game, it is fun to play.

    This game is a disaster. The character development is flat, and I don't care about Abby, even Ellie. The gameplay and artistic value had huge potential but, I felt that it was decent this time around. They should have kept the narration and flow simple but effective.

    Slap in the face for fans of the first LoU! Yes graphics, sound design, voice acting etc are great. Technically its super impressive BUT the story and the writing are completely abhorrent this time around. This game has none of the charm, heart or soul of the first one. Do not support people that spit on your beloved characters.

    I´m very disappointed. I have waited a long time for this game and it has not lived up to the previous one. Graphics have been really good but history is really bad and I don't understand why they introduce ideologies and politicking into a video game or scenes consuming drugs
    I am honestly very disappointed and very sad. The Last Of Us part 1 has been the best. OMG Joel :(

Well at least the graphics were pretty fine the atmosphere and sound was good and the gameplay wasn't worse than the first part. But that was it with the positive aspects. The story is a disgrace to the last of us franchise and what makes it even more sad is that the story was probably the strongest part of the first game... The characters feel empty, their actions/ dialogue feel forced and they killed pretty much the only interesting character in the beginning of the game.
    So, in conclusion the game is pretty bad. It had a ton of potential and the guys at naughty dog who were responsible for the graphics and level design did a decent job... but "all that glitters is not gold". Honestly sad to see how a terrible story and unlikable characters can ruin an otherwise good game.    … Expand

    Let me say this clearly: this game looks gorgeous. The vistas are breathtaking. I am giving it this much as an homage for the absolutely impressive work the graphic designers and the coders had to put in for this game to look the way it looks.

    Going back to everything not looks related, this game is horrendous. It might've gotten a better score from everyone if it wasn't the long awaited sequel of a masterpiece that appeared 7 years ago. Even so though, I doubt it would ever be worth more than a 5.
    The story is so poorly written, even if you don't immediately and absolutely despise it from the 2nd hour of the game, you would be left scratching your head indefinitely at how badly this was handled.

    Characters don't behave consistently, not only in comparison with the previous title, but between scenes in the same game. From the classics as Joel becoming brain dead after 30 years of surviving as a complete bad ass and Ellie being utterly useless and dumbfounded at every event, to Abby herself not being consistent in her pursuit of killing Ellie.

    it is such a shame that so many people have been waiting for 7 years for a return of their favourite DUO, just for it to be shattered 2 hours (at best) into the game.
    This game is around 11 hours of cutscenes and scenery and slow gameplay moments. Basically everything that doesn't include killing, looting and hiding. Out of 11 hours, we get 1 hour of Ellie and joel. It is such a disrespectful approach, I don't even know how to put it into words.
    This is THE game of 2013 for me and by far, without a shadow of doubt, one of the BEST games I have ever witnessed in my 22 years of existing.
    To get such a disappointing excuse of a story, just to push some agendas that nobody cares about in the gaming space (since they are 90% of the time shoved down our throats, not properly introduced and developed) is blasphemous.
    DO NOT buy this game. As far as it pains me to say this, it's not worth a single penny because the top dogs at Naughty Dog just didn't give a single **** about this game or about us.

    It pains me to think that most of the fallout will be felt by the people that spent their livelihoods crunching time to make this game its best version. The programmers, designers and art people did what they had to. Don't ever hate them.
    Don't ever assume they can do anything to change what the top 10% of the company wants to do. Dislike those people. Especially Neil Druckmann. He deserves all the critique.

    Naughty Dog, you seemed peerless for a good while. Uncharted 4 was amazing, everyone hoped TLOU 2 would be too. But after seeing how you handled it with 7 years worth of time to do it, I can only hope you will touch the Uncharted series ever again.    … Expand

El juego es una evolución demuestra un trabajo de calidad a nivel de gameplay, mecánicas, es un juego que está echo hasta el más mínimo detalle, físicas de cuerda, cada casa o departamento que se visita no de siente que repitan cada lugar es diferente nos hace imaginar que tipo de personas viven ahí, gráficamente es una maravilla demuestra todo el potencial que puede dar el PS4 , un buen trabajo de iluminación dinámica de los entornos, el juego causa una buena sensación al jugar, se nota la increíble mejora en la inteligencia de los enemigos, tratarán de rodearte se comunican entre ellos cada uno tiene un nombre y hace que nos sintamos que e verdad matar a alguien tenga un peso, ahora los infectados su inteligencia mejoro dando una sensación de erráticos más violentos esto causara que pienses bien si explorar lugares donde hay recursos valiosos, la historia está casi bien construida, solo con algunas agujeros argumentales pero apartir del primer día en la ciudad la historia va de forma organica el juego demuestra de lo que es una persona hacer por venganza sin medir la consecuencia de los actos es una campaña que no busca complacer con fanservice es cruda y realistas, donde no hay buenos ni malos , solo personas que harán todo por sobrevivir.… Expand

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
