    great histoy and graphig good videogame I thought it was quite entertaining. It's okay for cycles to end in some characters. I would like a third part.

    The game is full of SJW propaganda and propped up by champagne socialist urinalists. If anything this game just shows how much of a joke the games media is and how little they represent the majority of games. I hope naughty dog appreciate just how much goodwill they have lost by misleading the consumer.

    +Graphics and atmosphere- the feel of the post apocalipct world and the sense of despreration from the enviroment can be felt at every corner of The Last of Us part 2, and with how the water work and feels, the dynamic movement of leaves on trees, the gorgeous sountrack (seriously the    Ahhh, everything that was to be said was already said and so I will just give my review in a few points

    +Graphics and atmosphere- the feel of the post apocalipct world and the sense of despreration from the enviroment can be felt at every corner of The Last of Us part 2, and with how the water work and feels, the dynamic movement of leaves on trees, the gorgeous sountrack (seriously the music in this game is phenominal) and the magestic sun rays mages this game beautiful to look at

    -...everything else. The gameplay is servicable at best (the combat gets tedious after a few showdowns, it is basicly the same as in the first part and the "new" jump ""mechanic"" is laughable in terms of uses and how it actually feels)
    -Oh dear god, the tresure that is the story of this game. I dont know where to begin, without any spoilers the story is a all about "revenge is bad" and nothing else. There are a few side elemnents of "love", and "love" is in huge quotations and some touch of "this guy that you killed about 5 hours ago, that you dont even know their name anymore, was a good guy". But the aspect of "revenge is bad" is just too overwhelming to the point where the game could be three big words saying ""revenge is bad" and it would deliver the same message.
    The ending disastrous, plot lines dont make sense and the big "reveal" about motivations of the main bad guy is something out of bad fanfiction from 2013
    The only good part about the story are flashbacks but even those were sometimes lackluster

    Overall it is a disappointing and sad excuse attempt at a sequel    … Expand

    Honestly, in my opinion this game is a masterpiece. Everything from the graphics, to gamplay has been improved upon from last game. The story is beautiful. Examining the dynamics of revenge and human nature, TLUO2 wonderfully asks you to consider the things you're doing and whether or not your mission is worth it. I wish there could have been a choice to be made regarding whether or not toHonestly, in my opinion this game is a masterpiece.     When making a story driven game, if the story falls flat, the whole game falls flat. Gameplay has remained more of the same as the first game, which already was decent at best. Many aspects of the story clash with itself making it feel chopped up. Based off of what we have previously played, many characters fail to stay true to their characteristics.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This 7 years of waiting just didn´t worth it. I didn´t saw the leaks, so I felt very shocked and cheated when the Joel death scene came up. In the trailers they make you believe that he will go with you in your revenge mission. That NEVER happens...at all. And telling that is to avoid the spoilers, is just plain lying. One thing is avoiding the spoilers, and other thing is completely lying to the consumers showing them something they will never have. Joel dies in the most gruesome way in the first 2 hours or less, in hands of a character that is totally new and that no one cares about. Mr Neil Druckmann said that this sequel will honour Ellie and Joel. I really didn´t saw ANY of that. He disrespected both of his characters, turning a badass survivor into a stupid old man, and a charismatic girl into an adult with almost no emotions.

    What bothers me the most are this specific points:

    1. They want to make you believe that Joel was bad and that he deserved that. Yeah, he killed lots of people, but for surviving. Not because it was funny or cool for him . He was killing bad people who tried to killed him and Ellie during ALL the first game. Have you heard the audios and find the notes in TLOUS? THERE WAS NO CURE PEOPLE! The fireflies kept experimenting with inmune people and killing them for nothing, also they were going to kill Joel. THEY WEREN´T GOOD PEOPLE!!! So, for Joel are consequences but for them not? If you take this whole plot of actions and consequences, well I´m sorry but Abby´s father deserved to die, because he was killing innocent people to try to find a vaccine. This is what they are trying to say, but why it has to affect the main character that everybody loves?

    2. They try to make you empathize with Abby, showing you OH LOOK! she plays with dogs, OH LOOK Abby and his father. Sorry but I just couldn´t empathize with her. She was a mean person. She enjoyed making people suffer. And also her friends told her she should stop killing. SHE IS THE VILLAIN HERE! Stop pretending she is not! And after all she has done. She deserves being forgiven? Is this a joke? She killed Joel, she killed Jesse, left Tommy blind and also she was going to kill Dina, and after all of this Ellie is like...meh..I´ll let you go (?) It doesn´t make any sense!

    3. Druckmann and some people think that every one that doesn´t like this game is an incel, and homophobe or a hater bot or a crying baby . It´s not like that. What bother us is how the story was handled after all they achieved with Tlous 1. They wanted to kill Joel? FINE! But not in suck a stupid way, taking him out of character. He could smell a trap from miles away, he didn´t even helped a family in the prologue of the game to protect his family, but here, him and Tommy are giving all of their personal info to a group of armed people (?) As I said before. They are old, but they are not stupid. I love the diversity of the game, the inclusion of LGTB+ community, the fact that Abby is buff as hell, I think that those factors are AMAZING, the only problem here...is the story.

    It´s sad that a game with such beautiful environments, gameplay mechanics and music, is not good enough for a lot of people just for the story. I finished TLOUS 1 very quick because I was immerse in the story and I just couldn´t stop playing. In this game I was really having a hard time to continue. Specially in the Abby part. And people who says that they owe nothing to the fans, they are so wrong. They owe everything to the fans, because they are where they are because of them. A good example of treating the fans with respect is the development of Sonic the Movie. I hope mr Druckmann can learn a bit from them. You can have a lot of sales, but that doesn´t mean that every costumer is enjoying the game. People bought the game because of the trust in Naughty Dog, but it was worthless.    … Expand

    this game was phenomenal. it was nowhere near perfect, but i don’t think that it could ever live up to its predecessor no matter how hard they tried. the acting, the graphics, the environment, the characters, the improved gameplay... the only reason why i won’t give it a 10 was because of the weird pacing.

    This game has too many cut scenes and not enough game. Here is the gameplay loop in a nutshell. Walk down a path looking for things to pick up, fight a couple of zombies or humans then watch a loooooong cut scene, repeat. I'm bored and just want this to end.

    The last of us was how I first got into video games. I've been waiting seven years to feel that way again. Then I discover that the writers actually butchered part 2. The storyline is predictable, not unique, and is massively hypocritical in terms of the so called 'message'. The filler content is very boring. They did an awful job, what a waste of money and a massive disservice to the fans.

It's very rare that I even become invested enough in a game to talk about it & give an opinion. I wasn't even going to do so in this case, but it seems to be what everyone else is doing, & I'm seeing a lot of deceitful & unfair criticisms from critics & trolls respectively. I just want to talk about the game & what I thought of it honestly & I'll try to be as fair as I can, but of course this is all my subjective opinion.

    I wanted to love The Last of Us Pat II, because the first game, in my opinion, is a masterpiece and is arguably one of the greatest video games ever made. It also presents an incredible story with some truly great characters. Joel and Ellie are two of my favorite fictional characters, & following their trek across a post-apocalyptic United States was an incredible experience. Because I love these characters, I was excited that we'd again be following them in Part II, this time with more of a preference on Ellie. And though that is the case for a lot of the game, I feel we also spend far too much time which characters we simply don't care about it, mainly the character of Abby. I think the actress who portrays her did a great job, but did we need to spend hours of time following her, in my view, no, especially given that after the first 2 hours of game-play, I (if I may be blunt) hated her character, given the fact that she kills Joel, way earlier than it should have happened. I hate the treatment Joel received in Part II; of course there's a bias on my part because I loved him in the first game, but I do feel like his character got dealt an unfair hand in Part II. I always figured that Joel would die, simply because it seemed like the obvious story decision that would push Ellie to become more independent (which in a way it does), but I wish we had spent more time with Joel and Ellie before his death. The counter-argument to that is "spending time with Joel & Ellie was the premise of the first game," & that's true, but Part II takes place years after that, their relationship has obviously progressed & changed over the years, & I would have liked to see where their father-daughter bond stood after all these years. If I'm being frank, I think Joel's death as it stands only serves as a way to subvert expectations, just for the sake of subversion, which is a poor way of storytelling.

    Before I continue, some small things I liked: I think the voice acting is great from everyone, the graphics are incredible, the game-play is a lot more of an improvement over the last game (which is to be expected given it's been years since that game's release), and for the most part I liked some of the new side characters, like Dinah and Jesse. I also liked Ellie and Dinah's relationship, & I think it did a good job showing Ellie's maturity.

    I mentioned earlier, but I think it was a mistake to focus so much on Abby, because I feel I'm not alone when I say I didn't care about her character and even hated her character (well, hate is strong word, but that's how I felt, especially after she killed Joel). She's a new character that we don't know, that we haven't spent any time with and have no history with, therefore of course I'm not going to care for her as much as i care for Ellie or Joel. I understand the game developers wanting to go in a different direction with Part II & want to show other people's perspectives, but the first game made it clear that it was solely focused on Joel and Ellie's perspective, & given Part II was marketed as mainly following Ellie, that's what myself & many others were expecting.

    I see a lot of faux reviews, calling out "SJW stuff," or Neil Druckmann's politics, & I really don't want to to give any of that the time of the day because I don't care about them. I don't care that Ellie is gay, in fact I think it's great. I don't care about the other perceived SJW or political stuff, even if I may disagree with it, I won't let it get in the way of me playing the game. And honestly, if you're so appalled by gay characters or even Neil Druckmann, why are playing this game? Sure, obviously you can, you have every right to play this game, but when you know this game's going to piss you off, & then you rant in a review of how pissed off you are, I don't know, I question your point in even being here.

    I do completely understand the double standard criticisms Part II is facing, especially in regards to SONY allowing a pretty graphic sex scene while in the past (& still to this day) censoring far less. I also dislike the notion that any negative criticism this game receives is the doing of bots. There are definitely trolls doing what trolls do, but there are folks with legitimate criticisms, & to ignore those criticisms does a great disservice to people who paid a lot of money for this game & were really excited about it.

    That's all I really have to say. I wanted to love this game, but I couldn't.    … Expand

    I live in a country in which for the game I had to give 25% of my money earned per month. I am extremely disappointed. Perhaps this was the last game I bought for PS, and the last PS console.

The history has a empty final and idk if is good or bad. Sometimes could see a innecesary gore in the cinematics to explain the moment, it´s an excess. I visualized errors of script at the final with Abby vs Ellie-Dina, too.
    About the gameplay was sensational like the first TLOU.

Some point to a main character dieing early on and then comparing the game to the last season of Game Of Thrones. Well okay I'll compare it to the first several season of GOT where I never knew who would die which kept me on the edge of my seat and engaged in the story. When one main character or many would die it sucked but also that's what made it great, Same as this game. I played The last of us twice through, watched two or three people play through it, watch many reactions videos of the first one. I love Joel he what's a badass and it makes sense that he would die while saving someone. Anyway everybody's entitled to their opinion I just don't think some had an open mind before even playing the game all the way through.… Expand

    Un excelente juego, desde su jugabilidad, gráficos e historia. La historia si bien es un poco decepcionante, no por lo mala pero si por los hechos que ocurren durante el juego y algunas cosas que pasan con el protagonista del juego anterior, es una historia que te atrapa de principio a fin.

It would not be hyperbole for me to say The last of us is my absolute favorite thing across any medium. Whether it's movie's books or other video games, The last of us stands above all for me.. so after 7 years of waiting, to be presented with this story I am absolutely disgusted. Naughty Dog and Neil Druckman have absolutely failed this fan base and more importantly they failed Ellie. The sad attempt to humanize the character who brutally murders Joel was completely deplorable. Never have I spent so much time saying out loud during a game "I Don't Care!" as when I was forced to spend nearly half this game playing as Joels killer. News Flash Naughty Dog, nobody gives a damn about Abby. I literally made her die multiple times just because I hated her character so much. How you can possibly justify dedicating hours and hours of gameplay on her is nothing short of lunacy. Not to mention the list of supporting characters that get almost no development during that horrendous chunk of the gameplay. I got to a point where I did not want to play this game. It was so pathetically bad that I called Gamestop to try and return my Collectors edition. I thought to myself, "I'm willing to forgive all this garbage if only to see Ellie get her revenge". But no Naughty Dog... you screwed that up too. I have played the original Last of us 15 times through and can say without question that Ellie would not have let Abby just walk away. She deserved justice, she deserved better. Then at the end you just couldn't resist dicking her over a little more. Should we have Dina waiting to console her... Nahhh. Maybe tommy?... nahhh maybe we should let her keep her fingers so she can have a way to remember Joel by playing the Guitar... nahhh. The absolute failure of this game is reminiscent of The Last Jedi. You set yourselves up with the game of the decade. A game universally praised by critics and Fans alike. Yet you completely disembarked from all the things that made the first game such a masterpiece. Not to mention how you straight up Lied to everyone with your BS trailers depicting Joel in Seattle with Ellie. I don't know how this game could possibly get a score above like a 3 but these critics seem to be more interested in riding Naughty Dogs dick than calling them out. I can only give this game.a score higher than zero because of the relationship built between Dina and Ellie. A relationship and dichotomy you throw out the window halfway through the game and then completely torch at the end. Congratulations. You ruined my favorite Story. You have made the original Last of us virtually unplayable. I would've rather you never made a sequel than watch you disrespect and ruin the legacy of Ellie and Joel. The choices that characters took (been written by the directors and writers) seems that doesn't fit with the story and the choices that made in the previous game . Neil and Naughty Dog wrote the story around Joel's death . So they had to kill Joel , but in the game this fact is poorly executed (not cinematography related but storytelling related) . Joel and Tommy decided to trust a complete group of strangers , invited them in their town , gave up their names with no second thoughts . This choice is against the laws of Joel and Tommy as we all know they did terrible things to survive and we see Joel in the first game teaching Ellie about not trusting easily other people in the world of LOUS . So i think that one of the first discussions they had the writers of ND were related about Joel's death . The fact that they choose to break the laws of the characters morals in order to tell another story seems completely off . When you let your characters with their choices develop the story , well , the story actually works feels organic and alive . But when you decide to develop the story around a fact that happens against the character's beliefs ( Joel's and Tommy's mistake to trust a group of strangers) , well, that doesn't tell a story but it puts the characters as puppets and binds them un-physically in a line of storytelling that the writer choose for them (without taking into consideration their personal choices) . All the above , applies to Ellie or Jesse or even Abby as characters . I liked the world , the vision , the cinematic gameplay , the sound , the details , the hard work of people in ND , I even liked the time-line they choose to tell the story ( you see the bed that they cut Yara's hand as Ellie and you don't know what has happened and then you learn as Abby what happened ) .     Only good thing i can say was the graphics which is expected on the end of a generation anyway.

    First off, I'm a huge apocalyptic game fanatic, and I really liked The Last of us 1. I actually only recently played it. The game felt almost like watching a movie, which is what I was expecting with the second one. The voice acting is great, the score is haunting but the narrative was so odd. Forcing a player to play as a character that just murdered Joel. I guess this hurt more considering I just played TLOU1...

    I'll start by saying that i have played TLOU1, and i loved it, as it was one of the most beautifully crafted stories that delved deep into the human psyche as to why things happen the way they do and why humans act the way they act in certain situations.

    That being said, i hoped so much for TLOU2 to give me something close or equal to that, but it obviously and unfortunately didn't, and    I'll start by saying that i have played TLOU1, and i loved it, as it was one of the most beautifully crafted stories that delved deep into the human psyche as to why things happen the way they do and why humans act the way they act in certain situations.

    That being said, i hoped so much for TLOU2 to give me something close or equal to that, but it obviously and unfortunately didn't, and i'll start by pointing out why - the death of Joel and the rushed, cliché, exhausted and terribly written revenge story that the game forces on you for the entire game.

    First is the contrivances and plot induced stupidity. And what i mean by that is a character or various characters acting stupid or acting in a way that does not match their personality to fuel a plot, and that plot device is so played out, so goddamn cliché that it hurts to see and play here, because not only does this game suffer a lot from this, but it so happens that one of the most iconic characters in gaming, Joel Miller, does aswell and that's sad.

    Let's see about the scene of his death and how it happened to really dig in as to why he suffered from this plot induced stupidity. First, a group of random survivors interact with Joel, with (seemingly, at first) helpful intentions, but Joe,l with his 25 years of experience in this harsh, cruel world would know better than to trust some random GTA Posse that he encountered not a minute ago. So he goes inside the residence with all those random and suspicious people, all of which were visibly armed and asking a whole lot of questions. Joel goes head in this group of people, and stands in the middle of the **** room where he then reveals his name. This is where the game simply lost my attention, from this point forward i felt i wasted my time and my money on it because there are so many contrivances here, that it's really difficult to point them all out, but here we go:

    First, Joel would most likely not reveal his name nor accept any help from these strangers, and if he did accept help he would be very wary of anything that might've looked like a threat, and that's all counting with his years of experience, which the writers forgot to acknowledge when writing this entire scene. He does everything in his power to be killed, i am not joking nor overexaggerating, he literally does everything he needs, step by step to get killed. In multiple occasions in tlou1, Joel demonstrated incredible awareness of his surroundings and seemed very wary of other people, regardless of how helpful or harmed they might've seen. I'll recall the scene where Joel is riding into a city, and he encounters a hunter trying to fool him by saying he's injured and needs help. Joel immediately understands it's an ambush and runs the guy over, confirming his suspicions when half a dozen hunters jump out of cover to try and stop him. After this encounter, he kills all the hunters and says to Ellie that he was also once a hunter, so he figured it probably was a trap anyways. Now tell me, where is this Joel? This man who was once a raider in a wasteland filled with criminals, this Joel who was smuggling goods in the beggining of the first game? Has he simply forgotten how to survive and live in this world?

    One excuse i've heard is "oh come on man, he's not the same, he's gone soft." but that's no justification for bad writing and to induce a character to act a certain way because the plot requires it. In this case, the plot requires a revenge story, so the plot requires Joel to die, and so it requires him to act incredibly out of character for all that to happen. THAT is bad writing, and even if he did get older, it's only 5 years, in TLOU 1 he was 52 for god's sake, and 20 years before the events of the first game he was surviving, killing, and seeing **** few people have. 5 years of being soft does NOT erase the other 20 years that he's been out in the world trying to survive. In 5 years you're telling me he didn't face any harsh situations? any hard choices? nothing? It hurts my brain to try and justify this game because you simply cannot, it is impossible.

    Well, that was the elephant in the room, now for my final considerations:

    The game's graphics are the most beautiful Naughty Dog's ever crafted, the gameplay is exactly the same as the first game and all the positives you could have about this game are overshadowed by the incredibly horribly written story, and plot induced stupidity, and the inability to ACTUALLY get revenge, since Ellie does not kill Joel's murderer, which also makes no sense, since she kills everyone else anyways. Do not waste your money nor your time with this game, it's not worth it, and i hope ND can learn with this horrible mistake    … Expand

There is absolutely no empathy for Abby and I wanted to die every time they make you play as her. what a waste of a sequel the only thing improved is the graphics.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The gameplay is definitely improved compared to the first one and the story it tells of revenge is done so well. A lot of people leave reviews about the characters feeling undeveloped and terrible but I think they were written very well.

    The only reason I give it a 9 instead of 10 is because of Abby. She seems like a completely different character when playing her in Jackson compared to Seattle and after what she did to Joel I found myself unable to sympathize with her at all. I felt great emotional connection in lots of the story with Ellie because Ellie's character has been developed and you can understand the loss which has driven her to want revenge.
    Ellie is a great character to play as but with Abby I didn't like playing as her and I understand why her parts were in the game and I think the needed to be in the game but I think Abby's sections could've been shortened more to a length comparable to playing as Ellie in the first game. Playing as Abby annoyed me a bit with progression as well because when I was back to playing as Ellie again in Santa Barbara I had pretty much forgotten what kind of upgrades I'd put on weapons and stuff like that because they each are given their own progression trees and weapon upgrades.

    Overall, I loved the story and the way it showed Ellie's quest for vengeance driving her down a dark path. I loved the flashback sequences with Joel, especially the last one which just made me even more distraught with his death. The main objection I have to the game is simply playing as Abby too much. Her story was good and I liked the characters she played with but this game is about Ellie so I think the split between them in gameplay should've been more like an 80/20 or 70/30 rather than 50/50.    … Expand

    Технический игра сделана шикарно, графика и анимации просто лучшие на пс4 для меня, гемплей хоть он концептуально простой, но засчет всех этих анимации и как ощущается удары, стрельба, он мне приносил удовольствие даже на ng+. К этой части у меня к ноти догам вообще претензий нету и просто удивляешься как они все так классно делают.

    В итоге для меня игра заочная игра года, хоть первую часть игра и не смогла перебить.    … Expand

При этом оговорено, что Джоэль убил всех цикад в этом здании, интересно как же тогда мстители узнали что, это Джоэль всех покрамсал. Заметим что имея машины, много людей, хорошее вооружение, терминаторов в юбке, они послали левого мужика спасать надежду всего человечества!Серьездно? Где мозг у Цыкад? Он позволил людям умирать от заразы!? Так в принципе, люди больше мрут от других людей, даже шелкуны курят травку в сторонке!(от зависти) Кого спасать то? Решатся самого ценного, ради каких-то людей, что на пороге вымирания не могут отбросить все конфликты и обьеденится? При этом гг не описан и не является героем или хорошим парнем, он обычный человек который выживает(не живёт). Главный посыл игры месть!? Кому и за что? The backstory of her is basically told in 10 minutes. That's it? And now I have to feel with her and understand why she did what she did? Hell no! That is weak story telling. Really really weak.

    Then there are all the other new characters. Nobody is likeable. Like really. They all feel empty. They are only shells without any meaning. This game is the epitome of the notion that "graphics do not make a good game".    … Expand

    Disgusting gameplay, all this was in the first part, I didn’t like the characters and theirs motivations. The picture and ditails are magnificent but all the other is very bad.

    mais vers la seconde moitié, quand on incarne Abby je me suis rendu compte que le méchant dans l'histoire n'est pas abby. c'est la que j'ai adoré le jeu, le fait de pouvoir incarné le "méchant" et de se rendre compte que il ne l'est pas comme tu (Ellie) n'est pas le "gentil".
    pour moi c'est une bonne idée se scénar, sa casse les scénars manichéiste qu'on se mange régulièrement.

    pour ce qui est du reste, je trouve que le jeu est une véritable claque graphique :ok:
    sérieusement qui peut se mettre a sa table et dire "il y a plus beau que Tlou 2" (avec des screen a l'appuis)
    la durée de vie est énorme (30h)
    le gameplay est génial, bien que je suis déçu que le loot ne soit pas réaliste comme dans RDR 2 et que ça manque interaction avec le décors.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game is really well done, gameplay is clean, audio is great and the visuals are stunning. I really appreciated the level design and environment as well as the additional enemies and also how they made bloaters into a bigger, scarier threat by putting the encounters in small spaces and also upping the strength and destructive power they have. The game is gritty, brutal and you can tell a lot of passion and work was put into the game. I like the fact that they don't take the marvel route of keeping all the hero's alive (or giving them a way to come back) and they told the story they want and frankly what feels like a natural progression of the first games story. The inclusivity was well done and seemed real. They also did a great job with their accessibility options.

    Frankly I think it's better than the first. It stands in it's own and ups the ante. Also I think they handled Joel's murder very well. And by utilizing flashbacks to the time between the first game and this game, it did a was able to continue to have him in the story and also flesh him out as a character while also showing his importance to Ellie.    … Expand

    I finished the game in 25 hours, I took my time with it because I was genuinely enjoying the game play. The exploration, the scavenging, the survival horror moments and the guerrilla-ish hit and run combat I did.

    When I was holding the controller it was fun, but whenever I put it down to watch instead? I didn't enjoy what I watched, at all.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So here it goes. Now I do feel as if this game is getting a lot of hate and some of it is for good reason. But, instead of following the crowd I gave this game a shot myself. To start off the game, let’s be honest, it starts off very slow until Joel’s brutal murder. Now I feel as if Joel’s death was inevitable in a sequel as who would get away with killing an entire organization. However, I feel like his death in this game was a bit forced in order to create this very bland revenge plot that exists in this game. He was solely put in the game to act as the main reason Ellie goes on her quest for revenge. I feel let down by this as a fan of the first game, Joel and Ellie’s relationship was a key factor to the reason why the first game was so special. I just wish Joel’s death had more meaning to a story that was developed off of him.

    Now that his death it out of the way. The portion where we play as Ellie, I actually really enjoyed. I wanted to hunt down everyone that was involved to avenge Joel’s death and it felt as if the story was going in the right direction. Fighting the WLF and the Scars were great and the dialogue between Dina and Ellie did bring some light to an extremely dark game. Needless to say when I was playing as Ellie the game felt like a true sequel, the flashbacks with Joel and Tommy were my favorite part about the game as it revealed the truth behind how Ellie found out what happened in Salt Lake (this was the whole reason I wanted the sequel). However, in Naughty Dog fashion, I am surprised and flipped upside down.

    The portion where we switch to Abby I feel is so forced to push a political agenda. They want to give you a backstory full of sorrow to make you feel bad for the character when in reality, you started off her existence bashing the face of the franchises head in with a golf club so I truly will never sympathize with this character ever. So this was a big failure here. I had no care at all about Lev and Yara, it felt like I was playing a different game with Abby and I found myself almost speed running through sections just to get them over with. The basis of my review is the game feels in its true form when playing as Ellie. However, when we drift off to play a fridge **** for 8 hours I truly lost interest in continuing the game. Druckmann said in an interview years ago that the story will always be about Joel and Ellie. So it amazes me how the story would go in this direction. I did not care for any segments with Abby, the writers introduced me to the character with a permanent vile taste in my mouth that will never be removed. Gameplay and graphics were a true masterpiece. They really pushed the bar with this game. I couldn’t believe what my original fat ps4 was producing on to my monitor. Even though it sounded like a jet engine was constantly by my side. It just sucks that a game had to be ruined by poor character development.

    Positives: Gameplay and graphics 10/10

    Ellie’s portion and flashbacks gave me a true last of us sequel I was hoping for as it gave me closure to how Ellie found out the truth about the events from the first game.

    Negatives:

    Wish Joel’s death meant something more then just a fuel for a revenge plot.

    Abby’s or fridge ****es 8-10 hour long snooze fest felt like filler, and I found my self speed running through sections. Not to mention I suicided while playing her a comedically absurd amount of times.


    Story: 5/10 Gameplay and graphics: 10/10 So an overall of 7/10 fits it for me.

    In conclusion the game barely fills the role of a sequel through 2 hours of sequences with Joel. But the lack of the relationship between Ellie and Joel really hold back the true potential this game could of had. Abby is a failure and if it wasn’t for her I would have no problem giving this game a 10/10. It just wasn’t what I envisioned a true sequel to be, and it left me and many fans truly dissapointed.    … Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
