    This game wants to bury everything seen in the previous installment, its history is poorly counted, although they had 7 years to develop it for this and many other things, I cannot compare it to the previous one, since in these types of games history is one of its pillars and in the first it was excellent but in this one you notice the script flaws and lack of connection with the characters.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I didn't like the weird pacing. The constant "3 weeks earlier, 3 months earlier, 5 years back, and so on". It was editted very poorly making the main story (about Ellie) feel off.

    The second part (about Abby) was useless, I couldn't make a connection with someone who killed Ellie, the main character of the best game ever made (TLOU) and Joel probably an even better character. It again comes down to pacing. Adding 12 hours of Abby after stuff gets interesting with Ellie really demotivated me. I had to start over again with a character I did not want to know.

    The Last of Us 1 had a story that didn't care about ethics and morals. It was about Joel loving Ellie. Going into fight or flight after not being allowed to say goodbye, nor getting payed for his deeds instead getting left out to die.
    Turning this on his head and focussing 1000% on morals and ethics in TLOU2 made it feel like the writers for the game missed the mark of the 1st one.

    Good gameplay but it gets a little repetetive after 20+ hours and a shame that all the zombies were the same as the first game accept for 2 new, rather uninspired additions. But good enemy AI overall.
    Not a story I personally connected to.

    This game has one of the most immersive gameplays ever in the video game industry. Whenever I stopped playing this game it was either for I had to do something else or I needed to go to sleep. This game is by far one of the most polished games out there. I loved it and after beating the game I always think about it. This game is not just a game but an experience you'll never forget.     Fantastic game. If you loved the first, you’ll sure love this one. Gameplay is amazing, story is on point and the atmosphere is incredible. Don’t believe all the hate.

    Beautiful game other than the tearing but that is it. Game play is horrible constant frame drops on pro. I can only imagine what it's like on the standard console. Naughty Dog ruining yet another franchise the story is absolutely horrible. Naturally Sony doesn't refund for this crap. Come on Sony a little more customer friendly tactics will take you a long way.

I enjoyed the game for 13 hours straight, yes, the story was not as compelling as that of the first title, but it was still good enough that it kept me motivated, plus my love for the characters pushed me forward to fulfill their objectives. I got scared, I was engaged, I was driven by anger, I felt that I was one with Ellie. I played the game at night, wearing headphones and with the lights off just to be as immersed in the game as possible, in short: I was having a fantastic experience, but then...

    i have no clue what went through Druckmann's mind, how in the hell would I want to play as Abby, it has nothing to do with her being the "villain" or the way anyone wants to interpret it, it is the fact that I have to go to the theater to kill Ellie, and I know I'm making it there because we are shown that they meet after 13 hours of playing with Ellie, so there is not even a shade of doubt regarding my objectives or destination.

    I am not going to mention the bad storytelling or the plotholes because I do not care about them, I could do with bad writing as long as I am playing as the people that i had learned to love 6 years ago. In the end, the 10 hours I played as Abby, to me, were not enjoyable, I stopped playing at night, I stopped wearing headphones and I did not care about anything about it, I paced through it in one day because I couldn't bring myself to play as her and to top it all off I have to bash Ellie's head in too, like WTF?

    i am really disappointed with this game, not just because I did not enjoy it, but because I had so much faith in ND to produce a game which would at least match the first one's level of emotion, and in turn I ended up hating the sequel to my favourite game ever.    … Expand

Ждал игру 5 лет в итоге получил одни разочарования.Сюжет завязан на месте Элли , что не лучший вариант для сюжета.Приходит какая-то бодибилдерша и убивает лучшие что есть в этой игре.Дальше главная героиня полная мести отправляется в Сиэтл и убивает всё что движется.Когда мы доходим до определённой точки, нам дают играть за Эбби.Мне вообще не хотелось ей сопереживать (Возможно если бы это была отдельная игра про неё, никак не связанная с прошлыми героями первой части то да , сопереживал бы ). Дальше по сюжету Эбби убивает друга Элли - Джесси (Это был единственный здравомыслящий персонаж, которого так и не раскрыли нормально). В итоге происходит битва на берегу с Эбби где Элли выигрывает,но перестаёт её душить и отпускает.Лучше дали бы выбор убить или отпустить.Два пальца из десяти или же два удара клюжкой для гольфа из десяти.… Expand

    I created an account just to make this review. The graphics and gameplay just barely make the game playable. The story is a dumpster fire and tries to force you to empathize with people you truly don’t care about.

Not just because Joel died in the beginning of the game way to early, but also I feel it didn't have the same vibe as the first one, the first one I was constantly on the edge of my seat and completely engaged in the game, but I found in LOU2 some parts were drug out a bit to long and I found it a tad boring. And tbh, I don't really find the ending very satisfactory, although I do know why they did it. The fact that a lot of characters I personally liked a lot died, such as jessie died didn't really help. I found that the end of the game was the best for me. This game is BY FAR not as good as the first but I guess for some people it's ok. There are many other games. I'd prefer to play other games such as Undertale, deltarune, Arkham games, shadows die twice, etc. Sorry about this just being all over the place but I just don't think it's worth the time or money… Expand

    The plot is empty, the action is protracted, there is no cinematic linear addictive development of events, the transitions are torn, the story does not involve the game, indecent pressure on basic emotions like animals, the basis of the game is like cheap action movies

    A complete disregard for everything that made the original good. It's actually heartbreaking how bad it is. I don't get excited for new things anymore thanks to The Last of us Part 2.

    Overall, doesn't hold a candle to the original game in terms of story BUT I do appreciate how they make you see the other side for once.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As a huge fan of the first game, it breaks my heart to write this. I can't express how disappointed I am with this game. The graphics, and game play were great, but I was here for a great story and it fell flat on it's face. Everything with Ellie was great, and the story was advancing beautifully... and than I had to control Abby? The person who killed Joel? The person who I've been trying to kill for over a dozen hours? Am I supposed to emphasize with her, because I didn't. The entire story portion of the Abby story was awful and everything felt unbelievably forced. The ending had no resolution... zero. Ellie travels across the country, giving up her girlfriend and "son" and doesn't kill Abby? Zero resolution. I spent 25 hours for nothing essentially. Joel was dead and Abby was alive in the first 2 hours of the game, and at the end it was the same exact thing. I don't know what Naughty Dog was thinking. Maybe they wanted to try to be "deep", but this has been a huge disappointment for me, all due to extremely poor story telling. I am going to delete this from my system and pretend like it doesn't exist. The first game was a masterclass in both game play and story telling, and while the game play was top notch, fans of the first should not be able to get over how poorly the story was told in this. They said they would not make DLC and now I'm happy about that. I hope they let this series go because it's a shame what they did to it.… Expand

Even if you are not emotionally Attached to the character Joel this would still get you angry of the poor justification of the character Abby they've tried so hard to like her character but failed so bad that everyone just want to kill her for killing Joel, Still a bold decision by naughty dog but didn't expect this naughty feedback. Sorry for the sloppy English, for a game that is acclaimed for its story, the last of us 2 really tries to keep an adult story, but fails miserably, ellie kills everyone on her way to complete her revenge, does not forgive a guy who makes a sandwich for her in a **** apocalypse, but at the last minute decides to forgive the only person who never deserved to be forgiven.
    Who thought that would be a good idea?
    Absurd script decisions, which look like I'm playing any game but the last of us.
    Plot armor to be laughed at, the game tries desperately to get you connected with the character of abby, again failing miserably.

    The last of Us 1 fue un increíble juego, de hecho es mi juego favorito y lo seguirá siendo, así que estaba muy expectante a una segunda parte (cada año que pasaba lo jugaba otra vez hasta que pudiera jugar la continuación de este).

    Pre-ordené el juego y comencé a jugarlo, las primeras horas estaba todo bien (estaba enamorado con las nuevas gráficas y amaba el hecho de poder ver a mis personajes favoritos otra vez) hasta que llego la muerte de Joel en la cual llore como una niña que había perdido a su muñeca favorita, pero esta escena tan brutal hizo que naciera otro sentimiento en mi ademas de pena, era la ira y con cada célula de mi cuerpo quería asesinar a todos los presentes en esa habitación algo que también pensaba Ellie por lo tanto me enlace de una manera perfecta a la misión del personaje.

    Todo iba perfecto hasta que sucede lo mas inesperado me hacen jugar con la persona que mas odiaba en ese momento Abby y entendí perfectamente el porque. Lo que quieran lograr los guionista era que me empatizara con Abby pero lamentablemente yo no soy Jesus como para ir perdonando a gente porque es lo correcto, para mi lo correcto en ese preciso instante era matarme de las formas mas crueles posibles.

    Avanzando con la tortura de 12 horas de Abby en la cual no me pude enlazar con el personaje de la misma forma que con Ellie llegamos al momento donde pensábamos que todo se iba a solucionar, que porfin íbamos a obtener la venganza, pero no y para cagarla mas te hacen luchar contra uno de los pocos personajes que de verdad llegue a amar en el primer juego y que están vivos. Eso para mi fue el fin, no paraba de preguntarme en mi cabeza ¿De verdad pase las ultimas 12 horas de mi vida sufriendo con este juego para que termine así? Pues al parecer no sino que después de volver al juego del gato y el ratón llegamos al verdadero final donde Ellie decide no matar a Abby porque ve a Joel en ella y entiende que el no hubiera querido esto.

    Pues espere 7 años de mi vida para estas 22 horas y déjenme decirles que no valió la pena es una de las decepciones mas grandes que he tenido en mi vida creo que la gente de Naughty Dog no entiende el sentimiento que los jugadores les ponen a sus juegos y cuanto amor fue entregado por nosotros a la memoria del primer TLOU. El 2020 nose pudo haber puesto peor.

They try to introduce a new main character but failed at making her as interesting or likeable as the characters from the original. They dumb down Joel and kill him off in the first hour of the gameplay. Just for us to go through the entire journey just to let go the girl who killed Joel. Just because you go for something unconventional and divisive and sad ending doesn't automatically make your game better. There are time and place more suitable to do those things. There are ways to make a right game, a wrong game and there are ways to make a polarizing game.     If this was a random game or the first one in the series, no one would have cared about revenge cycle theme, it would probably make a compelling story with all the characters having first time introduction to players. But when you have a well established characters from first game loved by everyone, people expect them to be treated with respect, they want to see more of them and a story centralized towards them and their life experience, not some random ass character killing the characters you were looking forward to playing and preaching about revenge cycle. Sure that would get you shock factor doing something opposite of what everyone wanted to see. But thats what you went for so dont cry about getting polarizing reaction either    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. From a technical point of view, a great game. Graphics, detail, music, everything is on top. The developers did an amazing job. They put their heart and soul into the game to make it a masterpiece.
    But one man with his own ideology just killed all the efforts of the Naughty dog team. The game's plot is absurd. Throughout the game, we try to impose the ideas and motives of other people's characters for us. They try to justify their actions.
    And in the middle of the current game, I couldn't bring myself to play for a hostile character who killed one main character and kills the second.

    I'm a fan of the first part of the game. The worst thing is that this main person brazenly lied to the fans. The game trailers don't match the game itself. We were tricked from the very beginning to buy the game. Because the trailers promised us a continuation of the story of Ellie and Joel. But there is nothing of this in the game. I spent my money because of Neil Druckman's blatant lies.

    I give the game 1 point. Only because of the love and respect for the Naughty Dog team.    … Expand

    I just finished the game. As a gamedev I have to say, this is the best game I ever played. Story is superior. Game is Masterpiece. Kudos to all gamedevs and people who was participating on this epic game experience. Cheers

    I loved the first one, part one is one of my all time favorite games and the second one did not disappoint. Despite what other critics might say the game is honesty better then the first one in every way i can think of, from gun customization to opening locked rooms and obviously most importantly combat as well but above all of that it had a great story from start to finish. Perspective is an easy thing to forget in the game and in real life, and this game shows that nobody is a cut and dry "bad guy", nor are they a good one.     First I was a little concerned about all this **** storm around this game, but at the end I can say that it was just a bull****. The game is good, the narrative is brilliant.

    It is a new level for the games to talk to the players, so it possible takes some time to people to start listening.

Due to the fact that the Great Character, the man who became Ellie's adoptive dad and who had a lot of knowledge about survival, came some no name and just tortured, killed Joel with a stick, this ruined the game and the relationship both to the game and to Naughty Dog itself. I would really like to somehow revive the chtoli in the third part of Joel's game. I just can't get over what this woman did to Joel. Those who wanted to buy the second part of the game, do not waste your money. I gave a grade of 6 only because of the technical part. And for the plot, I would put 2.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. 'The Last of Us Part II' has come a long way from its original game, however I was left with a distasteful ending and shallow story arc. The main theme of the story was the plain old theme that seeking revenge is bad. Many aspects of this theme were not fully flushed out and gapping plot holes missing. Furthermore, the structure of the story was just abysmal. It feels like this game was rushed and realised there were some aspects that made no sense, thus the developers added flashbacks to cover it up, adding to the confusion felt by gamers. While Neil Druckmann’s vision was for gamers to feel sorry for Abby. All I felt was hatred and anger as I only saw Abby as a cold murderer with no remorse. And any action or story to try show the better side of Abby did not budge my opinion about her. This failure was due to the chronological order of the story being a hot pile of mess. It would make more sense if theoretically I played as Abby in the first half of the game so I could see what type of character she is. But this still won’t prevent poor character development in Abby. This is scene where Abby is about to kill Dina when Ellie says she is pregnant. But this remark does not stop Abby to kill Dina and responds with “Good” with a psychopathic smile. In addition, the underdeveleopment of some new characters left much to be desired.

    I will give credit to the graphics and better level design in this game. Some sceneries such as Day 1 in Seattle lets you roam around the city at your own will and pace. However, as you progress in the game, the developers trap you in a linear level progression which was disappointing considering how far the game development has come. Gameplay is a hit or miss for some people, as a gamer who loved the original combat and shooting mechanics from the original game, I was somewhat disappointed in the range of motion you can complete. But after playing 18 hours of the game it felt like repetitive gory action of murdering everyone who stands in your way for revenge. There are small puzzles to change the dynamic of the game but, their impact was very minor. There are also nudity and sexual moments that didn’t have to be included. The finale is probably the most emotionless part of the movie. Logic and common sense is thrown out the window. By the end I did not care for any of the characters, the story did not evoke any emotion in me.

    This was a garbage fire, short and simple. It should not be even considered as a part 2 of the game. Take in mind they took 7 YEARS to develop this game and to refine it. At least the first game had an over arching theme was hope, and “finding something to fight for”. The deceitful tactics and misleading marketing made you think that you would play with Joel and Ellie for majority of the run time. But this was not true as I played the game. Honestly I would wait for this game to go on sale if you guys still want to play the game. If you really want to play it now, might as well just rent it from EB Games or something. Save your 70 quid on something else.    … Expand

    Great action , very grounded and focused, the story is great even though I don't respect some of the things they condone but is uncomfortable and unsettling to play through but at the same time being fun. Not many games can do that .

    It does'nt change that the overall quality of the game is very good, not perfect, but this is a game where you feel all the effort and time put into details, a good level design, a classic but efficient gameplay, and gorgeous graphics.

    However, some part of the game seemed for me too long without being very interesting. The is more a problem of rythm. The game is very long, but to be fair the biggest part is ok.

    And yes you can find some "feminism or lgbt stuff" in background, but honestly it does'nt feel like propaganda you should not even pay attention to it because this is not what the story is about anyway, and it just melt in this world naturally, so there is nothing shocking with that choice.

    I have played Lost of Us 1 a long time ago, i never became a fan of the game despite i liked it, so maybe my reaction will be more moderate than someone that is passionate about the characters.

    Anyway, LOTU part II is still for me a very good game, with very good storytelling, and taking some risk. Of course some people will not like some choice, they will hate some characters, and it's part of what the writters are looking for. And everything, if it's not perfect, is well crafted to serve a purpose..    … Expand

If you can accept Joel's death and open yourself to the direction this game goes with its story, then you will find a genuinely incredible story. If you cannot forgive Abby for killing Joel and want nothing but to see this great new character suffer. Without caring about her very valid reasons for doing everything that she does, and want nothing but a simple revenge story in which person A kills someone close to person B. Person B then hunts person A and kills her and gets revenge, The End. Then i'm afraid you will not find that here. I am someone who was perfectly open to whatever the game threw at me, and i was surprised to find a hugely compelling story, with great characters both old and new, great atmosphere, incredible world design. etc. Overall i do not think this game is a masterpiece. then again i do NOT think that the first game is a masterpiece either. i personally believe after playing both games back to back. that the second game felt like such a natural continuation, and so for that reason i think that this game The Last of Us part 2 is easily as good as the first game, which i would also give a 9. Both games played back to back make for one fantastic continuous story.… Expand

    The game fails with so many aspects. The story feels forced and lack luster. The AI is god awful with both your ally and the enemies. The combat is clunky and camera positioning is beyond awful at the worse times. The stupid notes and backgrounds for side characters seems more well thought out than the main stories for main characters. Joel’s death in the first 2 HOURS of gameplay was a ridiculously poor choice on naughty dogs end but I think it ultimately strengthens Ellie’s character much more ( btw she is a great character on her own ). Actual gameplay and visuals were absolutely phenomenal as well as the scenery, the only downside for me is the characters/character development. I think the whole switching to abby half way through the game is a very clever idea and it would help us sympathize with her more if her and her friends were interesting. I don’t get how we’re supposed to agree with a girl who just killed one of the most beloved characters in history whom which we’ve played an entire game with, all because we played 10 minutes with her and her dad. Maybe naughty dog didn’t want us to sympathize with abby but just understand where she’s coming from in which I do but her and her dads story do not hold a candle to Ellie and Joel’s. Also this is undoubtedly a trilogy, the ending sets us perfectly up for a 3rd game so let’s hope naughty dog gets their **** together.… Expand
