It’s ability to make me laugh and cry within the space of 30 seconds was horribly brilliant.    The Last Of Us Part II is a beautifully tragic story about survival, morality, civilisation, love, loss and hatred.

    Its storyline is brutal and intense, and will constantly keep you engaged and wanting to do more. There is never a dull moment, despite the depressing nature of the overall story. It’s ability to make me laugh and cry within the space of 30 seconds was horribly brilliant. Your emotions are constantly heightened when playing this game, whether that be for good or bad purposes.

    Druckmann and his team at Naughty Dog have created a piece of visual art; its graphics and scenery are like no other game I have ever played. I could get lost in the sightseeing of Seattle for hours, searching for every Easter egg and collectible available.

    Accompanying this is the most spectacular music and sound design throughout. As a music producer myself, it is something I could only dream of making. (I highly recommend trying the game out with fancy speakers turned up high with the bass booming. You will not regret the experience you encounter).

    Not to mention the most incredible acting which also keeps the game both gripping and engaging consistently. Ashley Johnson in particular comes back to play the role of Ellie and she exceeds all expectations. She had a big role to play and could have easily wrecked her reputation as Ellie. However it has been an absolute pleasure playing as her in both games. Next is a newcomer to the game, Shannon Woodward. She plays the role of Dina, providing phenomenal chemistry between her character and Johnson’s. She is the perfect motivator for Ellie and provides such an incredible spark in both characters. Another newcomer to the game, Laura Bailey, provides a new twist to the role of the antagonist known as Abby. Her performance is fresh and exciting, and adds a more humane feel to the stereotypical bad guy. There are many other new additions to this game as well, keeping the storyline constantly evolving the more you delve in. Every character has been written with precise detail and incredible care and it has been wonderful learning about everyone and everything.

    The Last Of Us Part II is a game which requires your full attention when playing, or face the fear of missing out on some vital information along the way. I finished the game after a long 21 hours and 46 minutes on moderate difficulty, but felt completely rewarded with my time due to extremely informative cinematic scenes, as well as the ability to search around for artefacts and other collectibles along the way.

    Combat was certainly difficult in areas, but required you to think outside the box and therefore challenged me a lot as a player which I admire greatly about this game. Its gruesome clickers never let me off the hook for anything, allowing me to grow as a player with patience, tactical motivation and courage. Other enemies who you will discover later on as well again provide a fresh new feature to this game, truly testing your skills to the maximum.

    I would gladly play this game in its entirety again and again. Phenomenal work by Naughty Dog, Druckmann and the rest of the team, and a truly wonderful sequel to follow the first game.    … Expand

Until the leaks came out. I was worried even more, even though Druckmann and the games media kept saying those were "fakes". Well, the leaks were all true, and I found out the hard way.

    I don't understand how Naughty Dog could just spit (quite literally) on beloved characters they themselves had created. Not only that, but the story is a total disaster. I can only be thankful to the brave person who leaked it all. Although I was dumb enough to buy the game (I'm gonna sell it though), hopefully those leaks and the whole game being on Youtube now have prevented other people from making the same mistake.     The game is amazing and absolutely beautiful in regards of graphic, storyline and lenght. I would recommend it but I dont see it as a Game of the Year, tbh its a really sad story about revenge and obsession

    After completing this game I was left unsatisfied and questioning why it went the way it did. Naughty Dog told a half decent story about new characters we could never sympathise with. They completely tore apart the first game and the ending left, no closure what so ever. I really wanted to enjoy this game, sure the graphics and gameplay were great, however this is a story driven game. The story has left me wanting more and it’s simply not good enough. Like many others I waited over 7 years for this, just to be truly let down. Hurt would be the best way to describe this feeling.     It is an excellent game that raises the issues of personal formation in society, radicalization of religion, problems of violence, stigmatization, growing up and combating psychological trauma.

    After passing, you may experience an unpleasant feeling that can be easily confused with dislike of the game itself. But after a while, everything falls into place.

    I registered an account in Metacritic just to leave this review. I can't believe I waited 6 years and avoided all spoilers to play this game. Other than visual improvement, the story itself is bad from beginning to end. Game is disturbing and tedious. Pace is slow and lengthy. Not worth the time and money. AVOID AT ALL COST.

    Story: the story is contrived and manipulates the players feelings to feel bad about your actions throughout the game, yet the player has no active choice about those actions. I’ll set a few examples:
    -Abby kills Joel with a golf club because she ambushes him with the rest of the group when they lure him andr Tommy to their safe house. Joel would NEVER trust strangers, even more he wouldn’t be so dumb as to go to their safe house! Joel dies because the plot needs him to die and to ignite our anger and lust for revenge
    -The game makes you feel bad for killing a dog you play with when you play as Abby, yet the gsme never gives the player a choice on wether they want to kill that dog or not, it’s just to manipulate thr players feelings -The game makes you kill a pregnant lady, and it also expects me to feel bad for self defense? What was a pregnant lady doing on such a dangerous place! It’s stupid!
    -The game ends with Ellie letting Abby go because she now learned that revenge is bad, but if you played any attention to the gameplay you’ll realize that you kill half of Seattle just to get to your target, yet Ellie let’s her go because now she gets that revenge is bad? This game manipulated us players to feel bad about pur actions, yet the only action I feel bad about is buying this game

    Gameplay: besides some tweaks and innovations the gameplay is exactly the same as the first game, except you can craft more items, go prone and use ropes to solve puzzles. After some hours you’ll feel the gameplay is repetitive and boring, same kinds of puzzles, same kinds of confrontations, same way yo get out of those situations. It’s mediocre

    Graphics and Art: the graphics look fantastic and make the game look gorgeous, it’s amazing what a PS4 can boot up after all this years. Every detail, every animation, every close up to an item, it’s just beautiful

    I have actually played and finished tlou 2 unlike an awful lot of these reviews, i personally really liked it, story is great, not as good as part 1 but great nonetheless, gameplay is improved upon from part 1 and the graphics are just awesome! The generic revenge plot line has been done a 1000 times before and TLOU2 adds nothing new, even taking the worst tropes from them and finishing it off with an lacklustre and disappointing ending. Even though the first games plot line was nothing unique, it was uplifted by its characters and the contrast of their relationship against the harsh backdrop of the apocalypse. If you are looking for whatever made the first game good, you will not find it here (try RDR2).    … Expand

    You're forced to play with a character that you hate for a very long period of time game, and it has no other meaning other than trying to send a cliche message with some progressive themes along the way.

    Мое мнение - люди не готовы воспринимать так критично происходимое в игре. Да, сюжет незамысловатый, но морали он несет огромное количество. Это как фильм, который не имеет хепиэнда и оставляет неприятный осадок внутри.
    Скажу так - игра вас поимеет, и если вы не умеете думать критически - проходите мимо. Эта игра не для вас. Купите себе лучше какую-то очередную игрушку об отношении отцов и детей или бродилку.    … Expand

    First off I want to express that this game is not terrible, it’s bad but not terrible. The graphics are great and the visuals are amazing which is why I gave it a four, but that’s not all that goes into a game of this caliber. By all means I am not a professional critic and have no experience but excuse my language but a depressed clown with a stick in its ass is more entertaining than most of this game. I say most because the prologue was in my opinion beautiful when Joel sings and give Ellie the guitar, I geared up a bit. Then they did a stupid time jump to speed the process of Joel’s idiotic death. This game is so repetitive with the way it’s played and goes way off the rails of the first game which is loved by most people who played it. If the game stuck to the character developing moments like the Future Days cover by Joel to Ellie then I would rate this a 10/10 and writing this I am hopeful that the retcon this game or makes Joel Edition where he doesn’t die and does work on the relationship of Ellie and Joel. They are making a TV show as well for this game which I am really excited but I just don’t want them to mess this up like TLOU2 and cast the right actors for these roles( I personally would choose Hugh Jackman and Kaitlyn Denver’s) Thank you for reading this if you did:)    … Expand

    Allow me to simply deconstruct this game, just as Naughty Dog deconstructed the characters that we loved and forced us to play as one of the worst characters ever written. First off, I don't necessarily believe this game belongs in the 0/10 - 1/10 range because in my opinion, both the graphics and music are so good that they single-handedly lift the rest of this game to a below averageAllow me to simply deconstruct this game, just as Naughty Dog deconstructed the characters that we loved and forced us to play as one of the worst characters ever written. First off, I don't necessarily believe this game belongs in the 0/10 - 1/10 range because in my opinion, both the graphics and music are so good that they single-handedly lift the rest of this game to a below average experience. The graphics are beautiful, we all know that, but the music is hauntingly introspective and really follows the policy "less is more." I really believe Gustavo Santaolalla deserves more credit, as this is some of his best work. period. That being said, THE STORY IN THIS GAME IS ONE OF THE WORST I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. Allow me to take you back to 2017, where I finally got my hands on the Last of Us Part 1. I had already seen the game on youtube, but I didn't care, because I didn't see all of it, and I had heard how good this game was, but I wasn't sure if having the game spoiled for me would lessen the impact of its story on me. Oh, how was I wrong. From the likable yet insane hobbit that was Bill, to the duo of brothers in Henry and Sam that just screamed "double trouble," to the fatherly redemption story arc that was not a new story, but one of the best written stories ever told. The Last of Us was about a broken man, who had his daughter taken from him in one of the most tragic, one fell swoop moments in video games period. This event caused a shift in his life to become the hardened, lonely smuggler we knew him to be, and it was about this same broken man learning to trust, learning to confront his greatest fear that he could have a family again. The hope of the world of the Last of Us has been sucked from it due to the outbreak, yet Ellie embodies what hope there is left, hope for the world, and hope for Joel. From the death of Sarah, to seeing Bill's reaction to Frank, to Henry and Sam's demise, all of these were designed to represent the brutal nature of the world. Yet this violence, these deaths were all used in different ways that made you feel different things, and both after the death of Sarah and of Henry and Sam, I had to set the controller down and sob, because it made me reflect on the personal tragedies of my own life and helped me relate to Joel, my favorite video game character period (well, Tied with Arthur Morgan, they're really similar in some ways lol). The death was used in ways that made you think, in ways that made you look at the Last of Us not as a video game, but as a story I could relate to. In this plot, the characters have all turned emo, the world is so intentionally bleak it is worse than the Metro series of games, and the violence, good Lord the violence is so overwhelming that instead of making me think, it just made me cringe. Yes, we all understand that Joel killed hundreds of Fireflies and Hunters in the original game, but that was due to his remembrance back to Sarah, and we were able to identify with his struggles. Here, Joel is reduced to an idiot who trusts everyone he sees, and the characters you grow to like, such as Tommy and Jesse, are killed off (well, at least Tommy survives) so suddenly and abruptly that I was LAUGHING in what was supposed to be one of the climaxes of the game. What I'm trying to say is that even though the goal of this game was supposed to make me think, it ended up desensitizing me to the violence that was going on because of how it killed characters off in such a comedic way, rather than with the weight that it did so in the first game. Ultimately, I am going to try and blot this game out of my memory and hold out hope that we can get a remaster of the original for PS5 and be done, no sequel, just the masterpiece that was the first game.… Expand

Si bien hubo algunos momentos realmente buenos, la mayoría del juego se llenó de agujeros en la trama. Solo tomó elementos de lo que funcionó para el primer juego sin entender lo que los hizo convincentes. Parece que este juego fue hecho por otro estudio, pero no lo es. La jugabilidad básica se ha mantenido igual (para bien o para mal), los acertijos del entorno casi han desaparecido.     game as Abby is another trash to US who wanted to see Joel and Ellie story not Abby story about **** revenge for her father and this game dont have multiplayer so you play half game as Ellie you happy the second half and end you are thinking why a play this **** :D

    After seeing the leaked spoilers, i was skeptical of the game and wasn't sure if i should even purchase the game but decided to say **** it, and bought it anyway. Now, after finishing the game, im glad i did. The obvious thing like visuals were of course amazing and on some occasions i put the controller down and enjoyed some views the game had to offer.     I have played part 1 over 10 times, because of its story. But now? story of part 2 is absolutely trash. I will never play games made by Naughty Dog. Part 1 is the best game in my life, and part 2 is the worst game in my life, what an amazing!!

    The worst script I have seen in games for years. Way too much SJW and woman power things in-game. Visuals are great but the framerate sucks big time. The ending was just so disappointing. Did we really have to wait for this for 7 years? Well, at least I have all my fingers left after playing this.

Персонажи раскрыты в мере,им хочется сочувствовать. Каждый увидит финал так,как захочет. Ставлю 10 за эмоциональный сюжет и потрясающий геймплейНевероятно эмоциональная игра с классным геймплеем.     Cara eu curti o game na maioria do tempo, em alguns momentos achei que ficou um pouco maçante e extenso demais.
    Realmente foi um misto de sentimentos e confesso que me apeguei bem mais a antagonista.

Finished the game yesterday and honestly just felt really depressed and cheated by the treatment of the characters and the story. I can see how ambitious the game was and appreciated many of the action sequences and set pieces that were used. The gameplay is fine, straight out of 2013 with the addition of a jump button and a dodge. Great. Really where the game falls flat is in it's story. Story about revenge is fine, even killing Joel is fine as it provided a good motivation for Ellie's portion of the game, however the writing and execution could have been so much better. And if you are going to make the story about revenge at least give the player the option to take revenge. Abby gets hers and doesn't think twice, Ellie loses everything and actively chooses not to take revenge, which just made no sense given what Abby has done to her. I was a huge Naughty Dog fan before this game, but this game has given a lot of room for that to change.

    As a quick side note I even think the story could have been left EXACTLY as it was but instead of using Joel and Ellie just give us a whole new set of characters that we were not 100% invested in already.

Hablo como un verdadero fan del primero y he de decir que este no ha estado a la altura. Posiblemente mi opinión del juego se base en la muerte de Joel y en la gestión del mismo. También creo que pase un par de semanas y habiendo aceptado el impacto de los ****s que se narran, este juego podrá gustarme más. Empezaré hablando sobre todo lo bueno que tiene este juego, que es el 90%. Unos gráficos y arte que supera a mayoría de los juegos de la generación, con el perdón de juegos como Red Dead Redeption 2 o God Of War. La jugabilidad indudablemente ha mejorado muchísimo con respecto al primero, muy divertida a mi parecer. La banda sonora, aunque considero que no ha estado a la altura de la primera parte, es excelente, muy buena. Este juego técnicamente es brutal. Pero vayamos a la parte en la que todos estamos decepcionados: la historia. Objetivamente, no se puede decir que la historia es mala, pero si es mala para ser Naughty Dog y sobretodo para continuar después del primero. La muerte de Joel, el personaje que le dio éxito a The Last Of Us, me parece un poco forzada y demasiado pronto. Esto me lleva a que la historia está mal estructurada, debería llevar otro orden. El personaje de Abby me parece demasiado forzado y sobretodo un error haberla **** jugable durante tanto tiempo. Entiendo que querían que empatizáramos con ella con mecánicas como las de Joel en la primera parte y armas OP, después de que ni medios ni trailers nos avisaran de que Abby iba a tener semejante importancia. Hablando de trailers, me parece una falta de respeto que nos engañaran así en estos, haciendonos creer que tendríamos la aventura con Joel, siendo flashbacks y habiendo cambiado los modelos de los personajes. Mal gestionado por Naughty Dog. En cuanto al final, Ellie se queda sin venganza y sin Dina. Todo el recorrido y todas las personas que hemos matado probablemente sin merecerlo ha sido en vano, pues la persona a la que juramos venganza salió libre. Al final, el miedo de Ellie de quedarse sola acabo siendo real para nada. Dejando a un lado todos los errores de la historia y si nos gusta más o menos me parece un juego de 10, no a la altura de la primera parte pero sin duda un "Must Play".… Expand

A murdered franchise, not only are the Americans so finished that they reckon with the opinion of LGBT people, now they have dragged them into the game, this is only 1/3 of the problem. Next comes the completely rotten plot. The murder of Joyle is simply the wretched character of Messrs. (Ally), which changes 4 times per game. Abby so put out the lights. I was disgusted to play for Abby, because this character killed my beloved hero, and I was simply not interested in playing for her. And as for the ending, I’ll say this, “the game of thrones” nervously smokes on the sidelines.

    I'm editing this after seeing the full game, and i think, i still don't like how the developers did, ND in general, and some of the issues with the story, but overall, i can't say i felt goosebumps in some parts, and that it made me think a lot. I felt like Abby was the best part of the game, even if some interactions are made in a way to kind of force you to see her as a good person, i still think it woks.
    I just hope ND learns how to treat their employees and in the future, maybe people will be less hateful about the game they haven't even experienced.    … Expand

Сюжет тоже сильно понравился, настолько взрослого и сильного сюжета давно не было. Я понимаю почему многим не понравилась. Все что нужно было сделать Naughty Dog параллельно показывать сюжетную ветку Элли и Эбби, но не смотря на эту ошибку я смог проникнутся обеими героями. Я плакал в конце это было очень сильно. Мое личное мнение лучшая игра этого поколения и лучше чем Tlou1. Что касается lgbt повестки это не более чем пустое нытье, все это оправданно сэтингом… Expand

Killing of Joel right after he saves Abby's life (it's not even a quick death, its a slow torturous death) doesn't get justified by the 10 hours + or so of game time that you "have" to play as Abby. Those 10+ hours are pretty weak narratively as well. I don't get how someone who played the first last of game can potentially like this game. The backlash is completely justified and a lot of things seem forced. The DLC was nicely done and when it's revealed that Ellie is gay it was a really wholesome moment. However, the Dina/Ellie chemistry is just lacking and lot of times is completely forced. I would say steer clear of any Naughty Dog games, never pre-order, and save your money to support other game developers.… Expand

But when you have a story and characters from the first TLOU, and completely spit on those characters to make some sort of political point- you loose your fan base. Good job Neil, way to screw up something that could have been easily game of the year.

    The Video game is a technical achievement and beautiful to look at. But if you're invested in the story, its really underwhelming and dissatisfying. However there are great moments in it to marvel and potentially great ideas that do not seem to land/work. Its aesthetically groundbreaking but the plot and character development really makes it hollow and pointless.

The interaction between the 2 were great and realistic. It breaks my heart on how Naughty Dog decided to remove this completely right at the start of the game The story was just a disaster, it was a mess. It's very unfortunate that I have to give a bad review to Naughty Dog as I was a fan of them but this game was disappointing indeed. What holds this game up to hitting a 4 though was the graphics and gameplay, but besides that the rest is terrible. "Developers forced to work overtime in order to create what their politically radical and sadistic director considers as realistic" - bull***t. It is more than clear that Neil Druckmann and his creative team truly managed to convey some important aspects of our society in a way that nobody expected, but should be greatful for. To be more exact, here is an example - the players received an idea of what having to deal with SJW feels like. I mean, I took an inportant lesson, which I would have rather learnt the hard way - muscular transgenders are already among us, waiting to bash some faces off with a golf stick, so be aware and try to avoid them. Also, graphics look immaculate. To summarize it all, I am thankful for the long-waited end of the series, for the inflicted pain, which quite frankly was bad pain and, of course, for traumatising me and the other players with the wonderful "realism" of a social extremist's mindset. Can not believe that studio like Naughty Dog has fallen slave to such meager standards and debaucherous dreams of a social activists' agenda arse-licking leader.… Expand

I started this game with a open mind and I avoided all the spoilers that got leaked and this game was good I’m happy I bought it even after seeing the bad reviews on it. I can definitely see why some people got mad at the game and at points I was surprised it I still enjoyed the game a lot and the dual story made you see both sides and understand why everyone did what they did and at times felt bad for Abby for what Joel did but I still wanted her gone but as the game goes on it kinda went away it’s a good game with a gold story the game mechanics are just about the same with a few new things just all cleaned up and smoother than ever and I just beat the game and I’m ready for my new game plus run though even if you saw the spoilers and got pulled away from the game trust me give it a shot and play it it’s worth it.… Expand

I avoided all spoilers but had a good idea Joel was gonna die because of the uproar on the internet, though when I started playing as Abby I couldn't stand her at first, I was actually throwing myself off the top of buildings at first to get my revenge for Joel. First time I've purposely killed myself in a game! Ha. But I gotta hand it too naughty dog, by the end I actually liked her and felt for her, I thought the ending was sick and it was better revenge than killing her for Ellie as she killed everyone close to her and left her alive with the guilt that they all died because of her revenge on Joel.

I mean, its the worst story that I have ever seen in a video game! Naughty Dog made Joel a stupid man and killed the main protagonist in the first hour of the game. Ellie is now a total potato who swears revenge, her actions aren't really emotional. Then, you have to play with the killer of the best character of the game, whatta hell I don't wanna play as a character like that! The game is full of nonsense and everything looks superficial. In the end, Ellie, who transformed in a killing machine for revenge, give up on killing the villain, letting Abby alive. Really, the game sucks, man! After playing you feel dumb and realize that The Last of Us Part II the way it is doesn't make any sense. You wait 7 years and receive a garbage like that. Looks like Naughty Dog took the greatness of the first game and threw away, its really a sad thing. The graphics of the game are really good, and only that. The story is being hated on unfairly by people who can’t stand a tragic story of a character they like. A lot of people are angry because Ellie throw away every she had, by the fact that she didn't killed Abby, but I just focused on the fact that Ellie is a better person and killing Abby won't bring Joel back.     I was looking forward a story with positive meaning ... but this is a story of losers. You learn that revenge is not the answer but it never was! Abby is infact the character I hate the most. She ruined everything for revenge and she knows It because she kept loosing people due to it!

    I just feel very frustrated after playing it ... you do not want to see your heros defeated and also playing as the one ruins everything is something I don’t understand.

    When I play as Abby the only good thing is that I can keep killing my self. It is a pity... it is graphically outstanding... nothing more.    … Expand

    I understand why there are such ratings from the gamers - this is really controversial. But you have to play. Till the end. Story is more than just dialogues and cinematic. Details and emotions - thats the reason why this game must be played. Hope all the gamers will feel the same

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
