    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. There’s cool aspects that really did make me feel something. Like I actually felt relieved that Ellie had that moment of realization and let Abby go. They both sought mindless revenge, they both had a chance to kill each other, and they both decided not to. In that sense, the symmetry of them both learning to let go and move on, is actually a really cool story dynamic and I enjoyed it. I even felt emotional seeing the Joel cutscenes during those parts where she remembers how she forgave him and now she’s learning to forgive someone who did something even worse. Great. Good. But it’s the execution that fails horribly. There are so many other ways to get that message across. Watching Pewdiepie play and hearing his reactions alongside my own, seeing the reactions in the comments, no one cares about these new characters either. No matter how much you try to make us like them, we’re not going to. At least not enough to make us enjoy beating the crap out of Ellie in a boss fight. Abby’s parts just dragged on and on with no end in sight. The brief moments of excitement only came when Tommy came and started killing her people off like he was John Wick. I never rooted for Abby ever.

    And what’s worse, I never wanted to root for Ellie either. They twisted her character into being a vengeful crazy person, who kills pregnant women out of spite. That’s not how me or any of the fanbase wants to view Ellie. But they make her do that crap so that you like Abby more, but it doesn’t work. Now you just hate them both, despite wanting to still like Ellie.

    And the end. OH BOY THE END. Ellie literally has NOTHING. Nobody. She is on her own. Why would any fans of the first game want to see her end up there? Naughty Dog, who was this game made for? Was it made for the fans or was it made for you to flaunt you high-minded 200 IQ lesson on morality and revenge? All fans wanted was another fun adventure with their favorite characters: Joel and Ellie. But instead, Joel goes golfing right at the beginning, and we see Ellie devolve into a vengeful psychopath only to be left alone by everyone she cares about, including Dina (who had no character development herself). And when she goes to play guitar (which usually triggers flashbacks and memories), she has no fingers left to play, forcing her to live only with this present reality, no way back to those memories. No new songs. In some ways, it’s more painful to watch than Joel. Why? Why would anyone think this was a good idea? Yeah it’s cool to see Ellie and Abby go through a similar arc and draw similar conclusions, but it’s not like Abby lost everything. She still at least has Lev and group of 200 fireflies waiting for her to arrive. Ellie gets left with squat. Zip. Nada. So why does the character everyone hates (but is forced to love) ger hope for the future while Ellie and Joel get handed straight poop?

    I appreciate the creativity and risk taking. I appreciate the gameplay and action. I even appreciate the symmetrical nature of the story in some ways. But I don’t like watching torture porn of beloved characters and being told by elitist critics that I’m only mad bc homophobia. The positives don’t raise my review above a 1 because while the gameplay and all that is great, the usual incentive for overcoming those levels is to advance the story. And if you’re bored with the story, then the levels and obstacles feel more like a chore than anything else. 1/10 from me.    … Expand

The puzzles are satisfying to solve, combat is intense without being too much for the average player, and the character models are at times so convincingly lifelike that you feel you are watching a film. They reach across the uncanny valley in a way few games can. Some people don’t like the tone of the game and will give a zero without honestly reflecting on the other aspects of it that make it a spectacular experience. Collectibles, hidden areas, upgrading your weapons, one-off interactions with other characters, finding secret caches of supplies with notes adding backstory—all of these small things make the game worth playing on their own. The story is sad, and melancholy at times, but you know what else is sad? LIFE! It’s an honest reflection of truthful emotion that doesn’t accede to the typical glass half full view of most plots in games/film. I imagine many people reacted to the famously grim dystopian novel “1984” in the same way, before realizing it’s actually a bloody masterpiece. Regardless of how you feel about the plot, giving a work of art such as this a score of zero or one is insulting to the hundreds of creators who so obviously poured their passion into crafting a living, breathing world for us to enjoy.     I'm not sure what kind of Disneyland fairytale people were expecting from this game. At face value it is a story motivated by revenge, but it unravels to be so much deeper and nuanced as you gain perspective on each character and see firsthand how their motives intertwine.     I beat it and havent stopped thinking about it for 5 days. One of the most visceral experiences I've had with a tale in any medium. Gameplay is solid but not revolutionary. Environments, animation, design, music, acting, and overall presentation are as usual a new benchmark set by naughty dog.

Empecé queriendo matar a Abby y al final termine con un pensamiento completamente distinto. Los créditos rodaron y yo me quedé en un colapso mental de emociones fantásticas. Nunca un juego me hizo sentir tal cosa, y estoy orgulloso de ser fanático de Naugthy Dog porque siempre me dan juegos con una calidad maravillosa.
    Hablando de las malas críticas puedo decir que este juego es muy difícil de entender, tenés que saber interpretar, tener un poco de lectura. Si no te vas a quedar estancado en el odio porque mataron a Joel y no vas a poder ver más allá de eso. Otra cosa es que hay que entender que The last of us no es un Resident Evil, es un juego más realista, donde los personajes no le pasan 14.000 cosas y vive para contarlo, la muerte de Joel estuvo muy bien ejecutada, es algo que iba a pasar y por mi parte me esperaba que fuera de esa forma.    … Expand

This garbage is what you get when a studio prioritizes a juvenile moral “lesson” over the connections fostered with characters that made the first “The Last of Us” so phenomenal. DO NOT BUY.

There is no World were u could give that game a rating under 5. A game has more than just a story iam fine with that if u have ur problems with the story but this game still has amazing graphics on a ps4, the soundtrack is amazing and game play and story. The cutscenes are movie like and the amount of detail in this incredible world is just stunning.So if u are being objective the game on itself cant have a rating under 5.

    If u give the story a bad rating thats fine but u should not forget that a game consist of more than just a story. Now to my opinion i think the story is a masterpiece because it shows how revenge can lead to a lot more suffering and it creates a infinite loop of violence, madness and the spill of innocent blood.

    In this World the player has no idea what right or wrong is. Everyone has his own reasons to behave like this.     This game has been vilified for not delivering exactly what the neckbeards desired as far as story. Gameplay is excellent and the story is compelling. Only reason it doesn't get a 10 from me is the lack of weapon variation.

    This is a 10/10 game in my opinion.
    I don't agree with the main arguments against it and I enjoyed the gameplay, the story and of course the graphics. An important thing to notice is that most of the negative reviews come from people that did not play the game, and to those that played it and still gave it a negative review I would say that it is still not reasonable,    No spoilers ahead.
    This is a 10/10 game in my opinion.

    I don't know if this will go down as my favorite game of all time but it is the most well made game I've ever played. Nobody has ever attempted to tell a story like this in a videogame. The story is not an easy one to digest, and challenges the player in new, groundbreaking ways. Everything is improved from the original which is my favorite game of all time.     Awesome. Stupid people put 1, because the game did not live up to their expectations. Yes, this game is not at all what the players expected, but it does not make it bad. The game is delightful, exciting, interesting, cruel, and emotional. A game about the cycle of revenge, and forgiveness. required to pass.

    The story is so mediocre that is not worth of years of waiting. It’s a mistake to select vengeance and forgiveness as the theme from the beginning. Such a great disappointment! When I finished the TLOUS, I feel like to play the game over and over again, when I finished the TLOUS2, I simply turned off my PlayStation.

    Apart from the incredible design, this was a betrayal not only of the fans, but of the actors and the original developers, many of whom were not apart of this game as a result of internal politics at Naughty Dog. No wonder it was horribly disconnected from the first game. It is not an incredible world that one can be immersed, lost in a riveting story and provoked to think about difficult aspects of human nature. It is rather a failed attempt at shocking the audience while including unnecessary contemporary politics, which are important in their own right, but feel totally out of place in this game.

    It feels like they have tried to maliciously ruin everything good that players hold in memory. This is purposeful but I believe it is not justified and after 7 years, I highly doubt that they made any attempt to get input from the most important people: the hard core fans, high profile streamers and original creators of the game. As stated above, it feels like a betrayal and a fulfillment of an agenda that is disconnected from everything that could have made this game a worthy sequel.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us Part 2 is a game I struggled through, yet savoured every moment of. It's a graphical marvel with slick game-play to boot, but the story is something I will never forget due to the pain it caused and the traumatic journey it took me on. This game to me was a masterpiece, which unfortunately like many things deserving of that title, many are not able to give the appreciation it warrants.

    I'll address the story more a bit further down, but first I have to marvel at how visually stunning this game is. The locales are breathtaking, from the open plains to the skeletal remains of a city being eroded away, it's a marvel to look at. The way the locations are structured too are so organic as well, providing just enough prompting of where to go without making everything too obviously a place to climb or a crate to hide behind. Few things seem out of place, which is exactly what we'd expect Naughty Dog to achieve. The motion capture is also far beyond any other game I've played, particularly the facial animations. There is so much emotion portrayed through the characters expressions, through subtle tremors, tired eyes and frown line movements, you really are able to really feel what the characters are feeling. It's a marvel to watch every cut scene and admire the character design on display.

    The game play is also an notable improvement from the first game, with incredibly complex combat situations. There are a variety of ways to tackle every scenario, although stealth is strongly encouraged. You will however find that the enemy AI is far more savvy in this game, so going through the larger stages unnoticed is an incredible challenge. You will get noticed, which can often lead to very sticky situations where you realise your character isn't super woman. Death will be swift (just as the WLF wishes for you). The infected are also far more formidable. You can't plot the path of a clicker any more, if you sit in front of it for too long you will be maimed. Don't even get me started on the stalkers, they're the worst in part 1 and they are so much more agile now. By the way, keep your eyes peeled on the wall fungus, just trust me on this. The new infected types are also worthy editions, although I thought there could have been a few more.

    I must digress though that the game-play is not perfect. Ellie's trap mines are seldom useful for mine and I kind of wish I could have suppressed more weapons than just the semi-auto handgun. Also I thought the way the skill tree worked, although intuitive, made no logical sense for the sake of realism (Since when does drugs make someone better at crafting bombs). There also seemed to be some imbalance with the amount of scrap each character could get for crafting, leading to no crafting at workbenches 50% of the time on the normal setting. but these were small issues in the grand scheme of things.

    For mine, the story is what this game should and will be remembered for. Revenge is the key theme, but the motives behind this is so integral. The people in this world are in a living hell, few things matter but the lives of their loved ones. When those loved ones die in this dog-eat-dog world, what little these characters have is stripped away from them. For Ellie this trauma is so palpable, she is mentally ill and she's filled with rage. Love is something which she no longer seems to trust, and as the player you can see this conflict within her in her relationship with Dina (by the way, this game is not LGBT propaganda like the incels review bombing the game would have you believe. It's just a relationship like any other in this world). As the player you have the knowledge that you are taking her on a self-destructive path. She's experienced incredibly complex trauma which the writers have accurately portrayed how this would mess with her head. She isn't a redeeming character, but nor is she supposed to be, no-one goes through this sort of trauma and comes out the end of it hunky dory. The fact that you hate so many choices she makes was so deliberate on the part of the developers. But they also give you plenty of beautiful moments for her in flashbacks which help the games more recent developments make more sense.

    I will admit that I was initially unsure about playing as Abby, but the game was so much better for it. It's as much her tale as it is Ellie's, and they're both dealing with very similar trauma. It completely changed the dynamic of her character being able to see things from her perspective too, and learn that there's far more than meets the eye with her. Her side of the story starts off slow, you want to hate her, but as you continue to play as her you realise that hate isn't completely warranted. You realise that she and Ellie are just incredibly broken people with little reason to live or die, with complex trauma clouding their judgement, yet motivating their every move. When you see things this way, they are wonderfully complex characters.    … Expand

    This game gets a 1 for its graphical achievement but thats it. The story was convoluted, unsatisfying, and unresolving. The mistreatment of beloved characters to fit this unfinished and half baked narrative is absolutely ridiculous. The villian of this story wins and i wouldn't mind if you didn't spend the entire first game making me love the protagonists. Very unsatisfied.

I loved it so much my daughter born in 2017 was named Ellie. Part 2 is a game I have been waiting to play since it’s original tease back in 2016, and a game I was unsure if it should exists or not because of how much I love the first. This game however is a gruesome,dark,beautiful masterpiece! It’s a fantastic piece of entertainment, exactly what you would want from any game, film or any form of entertainment if you were to watch or play. The trailers are misleading (classic naughty dog btw), and the story goes in a way I was not expecting, but that’s the whole point of this game. It intwines the first story with the seconds direction and push it somewhere the fans of the first where not expecting. What would be the point of making a game with the expectation this one carries with a story that was exactly what we expected would happen? It would be a boring, predictable and not enjoyable to play. Games and technology have moved on since the first, and making a sequel like this so long after the original, there would be so much to consider in terms of gameplay and story when making this game, and I personally couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. I was gutted to lose such a loved character in the opening of the game as much as anyone, and new characters lost you grow to love over the course of this game too. Everyone is of course allowed their opinion, but the negative reviews this game is currently receiving from disappointed fans because of the above,I wouldn’t recommend them watching game of thrones anytime soon. This game made me laugh,cry,happy and speechless, it’s an unrivalled journey that only can compare to the journey of the first, but for totally different reasons. From intentionally using a falsified trailer years ago, to making us play as the dreadful, hateful character Abby for however many hours, this game was a mess from the jump. it is nothing evenly remotely similar to its predecessor, which in many of our eyes was an absolute masterpiece, and probably the biggest letdown of 2020, and that's saying a lot. The fact that they killed the dude who, along with Ellie, made us so emotionally attached to the Last of Us Part One was such a despicable act of disrespect to any fans of the original game. Not only was Joel killed, he was literally tortured to death by a character many of us couldn't bear playing later on in the game for 10 hours or more. There is not a single redemptive factor about Abby except for maybe her 'saving' of Yara and Lev, despite NaughtyDog's vehement attempts to try and actually make her seem like a person instead of the absolute monster that she is. Also, NaughtyDog, the whole white savior thing, even if she is a woman who 'takes no **** has a heart, is built like an ox' blah blah blah, really wasn't the message to put out in today's day and age. Like come on I know you guys are a little smarter than that. Like don't get me wrong, there were some parts of the game I really enjoyed, such as the paleontologist's museum. A beautifully written and animated scene which was honestly tugged at the heart strings, especially the scene in the space shuttle. But it's only allowed to be beautiful because it's so strongly connected to the first game, and is a highlight of Joel and Ellie's relationship, which is both beautiful and cruel at the same time. I understand the message that you were trying to employ when you wrote the script, but the whole idea of 'revenge is bad and it'll only get you or your loved ones is so overdone'. This game could've been so much and more, but honestly, the plot was so flawed, and its execution of this plot was butchered. Did you guys see the end of Game of Thrones? Surely you could see what effect trying to 'subvert expectations' can have on any form of media, from film to games, on it's fanbase. Don't even get me started on those stupid god damn shock deaths. So ridiculous.

    In review, remake the game, visit the roots of the last of us part one. Animators and coders, you did a stellar job, the game is smooth, fun to the run around even though there a lot of running around, and the combat is a class act.

All this angry, feelings of revenge and the path with its consequences. I really liked it and I kinda was angry when my lovely character Joel died but it is post apocalypse world. Everything can happen. So I was ready for this and don't get sad about it.
    The negatives is for this LGBTQ things I really don't get and Ellie was immune at least she could be get pregnant and give a birth new immune kids. But she chooses be a lesbian. Everyone keeps saying that we’re mad because Joel is dead but it’s actually the WAY he died that’s annoying. The gameplay is good but some parts are really boring and the only new characters i liked were Yara and Lev (Dina and Jesse were okay but Yara and Lev were more interesting).
    I don’t hate the game but i don’t love it either. The ending was just kinda meh. Why did Ellie have to kill all those people to just forgive Abby? It was very unsatisfying to see Ellie all alone without Dina, JJ and two of her fingers.    … Expand

The greatest part of The Last of US Part 2 is its vulnerability. It allows the gamer to immerse themselves into a game that is much more than a revenge story. We're brought into a game where we learn that there aren't "good guys and bad guys," instead we see that every individual in the game has a story in which they're the good guy. For example, every NPC has a name they're referred to, to further express the concept that each person is in fact a human who may believe that their actions benefit the greater cause. Moving on, we see Ellie, who has reacted like a moth to a flame by hunting down Abby, evolve to finally forgive Joel and herself. In doing so, she overcomes this blind rage, reflecting on what she has lost along the way. Instead of choosing to move on initially, she's given up much more than losing Joel: a family, friends, her fingers that inhibit playing a song that holds significance. The game conquers a bleak concept of two people living happily ever after and creates a refreshing story that shocks and provides values in which we all can learn from. Empathy.… Expand

The point of Abby's character was not just to kill off the main character and get the audience pissed, then they would not have made her such a key character. It is to understand what is so wrong with revenge. It goes along the 'an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.' Ellie lost everything for revenge against Abby. When people look at the story line without some beautiful story of Ellie winning, they rate the game as a 0. Ellie and Abby are so similar by the end; I am surprised the homophobes are not rooting for Abby.
    I don't like everything about the game. I played the first game, and hoped this new game would be even better.     I believe the section where v play as Abby could have been flushed out a little better.. Her motivation to go back and help LEV and YARA was poorly executed.. I guess they should have bonded a little more and then Abby could have justified her actions of going back and saving them. Rest of the story with Ellie is amazing, her motivation and ultimately her action of sparing Abby is well presented although in the end she losses everything.
    Gameplay wise is almost as the first game but a little tweaks here and there..and well executed.
    A well made game and a must play but I still believe the story with Abby's part could have been well written.    … Expand

I think just for the game itself, disregarding the story, it would be unreasonable to give it less than an 8/10.

    As for the story, I know that it has been controversial, but I think it was incredible. They really get you to feel and empathize with every character as well as question many of the choices you've made throughout the game. There's one part where you are trying so hard to kill an unknown attacker and the whole fight is dragged out and difficult, but when you finally realize who the attacker is you feel conflicted about wanting to kill them. The story is hard-hitting, and for me, I think it was incredibly well constructed. I loved every minute of my time in this game.

    Overall, I'd say this was the best game I've ever played on the PS4. I think it deserves a 10/10. I only wish I could play it again for the first time.    … Expand

Sadly the sequel completely and utterly destroys everything you've come to love from the first game and actively makes you regret ever playing it.

    The main character from the first game, Joel, gets killed in one of the most brutal and unceremonious ways possible making your heart sink and then forces you to play as the killer for many, many, many hours. The only other event that made me feel the way that scene made me feel was when Glenn from the walking dead got his head bashed in by a baseball bat. I stopped watching the show afterwards, not because it was unusual for characters to die once in a while but because it was one of the major main characters you had come to love and really care about and the only reason he died the way he did was because it would invoke a bigger emotional reaction than if he had died from anything else. Joel's death was used the same way, only to make the player feel terrible and nothing else. Later on you get to play as Joel's killer for a long time, no, just no. If the point of this game was to entertain the player and make them feel good while doing so, it has done exactly the opposite. I don't remember the last time I bought something because I wanted to feel horrible for dozens of hours willingly. I don;t understand the rage about politics or sexual orientation of certain characters, who cares, it's not even remotely important in the scope of the bigger issue of this game. The only things the game does right are graphics, animations and sound. The story is utter complete garbage, the character development is also utter and complete garbage and everything else in between bar the 3 pros listed previously. I can't remember the last time I was as disappointed with a sequel from a game or movie I loved so much for so many reasons and somehow, one of the greatest video game companies decided to ruin it all. If you enjoy feeling complete despair, sadness, tension, more sadness and despair, this game is for you. If on the other hand you enjoy feeling good and not have buyer's remorse, this game is absolutely not for you.    … Expand

Tecnicamente, il comparto grafico è favoloso e le animazioni, soprattutto le gestualità e le espressioni dei personaggi, sfiorano la realtà, specialmente nelle prime ore di gioco. Narrativamente, la trama è raccontata magistralmente. La narrazione suscita nel giocatore emozioni molto forti, che vanno dall'iniziale ferocia di Ellie, che si manifesta nel giocatore in un vera e propria sete di vendetta per l'apparentemente ingiustificato torto subito dalla nostra protagonista, alla confusione più totale, data dalla rivelazione degli antefatti. Il tutto viene colmato da un enorme senso di tristezza per il finale del gioco: la natura egoista dell'uomo, che suscita rabbia e malessere nei nostri protagonisti e, di conseguenza, anche in noi videogiocatori, può essere placata solamente dall'amore delle persone care e della famiglia, spesso risvegliato dall'arrivo di qualcuno più debole da proteggere e voler bene: è così per Owen e Mel, in attesa del proprio bambino, è così per Abby, che ha accolto Lev, è così per Dina e, di conseguenza, dovrebbe essere così anche per Ellie; forse è complice il fatto che il figlio non sia veramente suo. Ellie, infatti, decidendo di assecondare nuovamente il desiderio di vendetta però perde gli affetti della famiglia che si era costruita.
    Un gioco che rasenta la perfezione, dal punto di vista tecnico, narrativo, e di interazione tra il videogiocatore e i personaggi. Un gioco che, se non merita 10 come voto, comunque gli si avvicina molto.    … Expand

    I’ll keep it short - unlike plenty of people giving poor score to the game, I actually bothered playing it and I absolutely love it! Game design, storyline, characters - everything is so beautifully done, definitely the best Naughty Dog and PS4 title, a contender for GOTY award and a game of generation.

    The last of us 2 is a horrible game . They ruined the series bro . Idc that Ellie is gay or that Abby is swole. The writing , the story telling all that just sucks

Игра одна из лучших игр на плейстейшен, физика, графика, мелкие детали, анимация лиц, проработка (идёшь по льду и ломаешь его под собой, трава двигаться когда ты с ней взаимодействуешь, мелкие стёклышки от разбитого стекла с которыми можно взаимодействовать и многоеИгра просто бомба!     Un videojuego realmente increíble. Gráficamente es lo más potente que hemos visto en Playstation 4, con unos escenarios, físicas y expresiones faciales nunca vistas. Sus personajes son tan humanos que no cuesta demasiado empatizar con ellos.

    Como única "pega" le pondría que, en algunos momentos, se alarga demasiado. Pero es tan disfrutable que te da igual. Referente a la historia (ha    Un videojuego realmente increíble.     Despite the hate I enjoyed the game. Yes, there could be changes story wise, but I personally loved the plot and what the game is trying to teach you.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
