    Obviously this game doesn't deserve 0/10 nor 10/10. But after i finished it i felt only relieve that this is over. Poorly written characters, stupid desitions that they make, this is not what you expect from tlou. Story has potential, but it doesn't work. Work of a crew - 10/10, writing - -10/10 and since metacritic deleting 0/10 reviews like it did with my last one, my score is 1/10.

    The best game I've played. The gameplay is amazing, the graphics and game design on top. The plot - I have not seen so many emotions in any game! Most of those who rated it low simply watched the passage on YouTube, rather than playing. And this is a big difference. If you haven't played it, but think you know it's gonna be awful, I think maybe you should just play it and have an informed opinion. Is it heart breaking? Yes. But it's also...realistic and compelling. I walked away with an *intensely* different outlook and perspective on both the first and this game and the people in them.     But problem with LoU2 don't end here. Games are not camping stories. There is no masterpiece movie that have bad camera work, bad acting and dialogues but great story so is 10/10. No all part should work together. In LoU2 gameplay is almost unchanged and nothing to sing about. Unless you consider ability to crawl a genius idea or companions becoming invisible to enemies when you sneaking, so developers don't have to create actual AI a great innovation, then do you even played action games in last decade? Gameplay is average.

    Graphics? It's decent.

    But since gameplay is the same other games of genre have it totally disagrees with what story want us. The "violence is bad, and we should forgive" that Lou2 story supposedly wants to show us is contradicted by it's own gameplay were we doing some garden cleaning. The gameplay that decides to give us several options to kill enemies so we don't get bored with killing them the same way. And there is random cutscene, when we get sad and contemplating. But after that it's return of gameplay. That's why if we consider that story-telling is the leading and most important part of LoU2 then gameplay is bad. Because it not only not support it, but activity negate it.

    If there is something of lesson that LoU2 gives, is that show of how illiterate professional reviewers become, and how hard they try to please they friends from industry that from critics they become part of game their marketing. Because if you developer of big game and want to spread some leeks and keeping hype up who you would go to give exclusive interview? Some additional info that no other have? And it's no brainier that for game magazine the exclusive info that others won't have is the most important. Reviews? Everybody would have them.    … Expand

    A moving, beautiful game, both graphically and emotionally. The Last of Us 2 is a masterclass representation of modern storytelling. The controls are solid, combat is brutal, stealth is fun to use, and the world feels alive through it's intelligently built environments. If you're a fan of 3rd person action adventure games there is no reason to pass this up. It is practically flawless.

    This game is definitely a tough pill to swallow, but I am glad I stuck with it for its entirety as this is without a doubt one of the most confronting & relentless video games I have ever experienced. Perhaps a little too heavy with the social commentary at times as well as some moments that will have questioning if it was included only to shock (not to mention I personally thought it could have had a little bit more optimistic moments like part 1 instead of being all “doom and gloom” for the majority), it is a technical achievement to behold with a story that will have you go through a whole spectrum of emotions. By the end of it i was satisfied with my 31 hours I spent playing and it’s going to be an experience I won’t be forgetting any time soon.

    O jogo não é ruim, mas também não é bom, é um game mediano no quesito história/roteiro. Mas possui gráficos excelentes e, apesar da história ser fraca, o fato de ele buscar a inclusão de representatividade é um ponto positivo para o jogo e para o mundo dos videogames como um todo.

    The game's story is a tragedy (as in genre, like romeo and juliet), unlike the first game which was hope within a tragic world. Characters act irrationally to further complicate situations and problems. If the game's purpose was to make the player feel despair, they succeeded. but no that is not fun, and nothing like why the original was so great

    Allerdings sind manche Rätsel zu simpel und einige Passagen einfach zu ruhig(Keine Dialoge, keine musikalische Untermalung). Wodurch mein Blick wiederum auf das stimmige und detailverliebte Setting gerichtet wurde(Absicht?).
    Mit der gleichen Hingabe für Details, wurden auch die Dialoge geschrieben, die Cutscenes inszeniert sowie der Score komponiert.
    Abgerundet durch fesselnde Charaktere und einer, von Gewalt und Chaos geprägten Geschichte. In der die Abgründe des menschlichen Handelns ihres gleichen sucht.

    Wer NIX erwartet, auf dem wartet ein emotional mitreißendes Erlebnis, welches unweigerlich Selbstzweifel und Emphatie hervorruft(Selbstreflexion).    … Expand

    Just finished this incredible story. So deep and powerful. Gameplay much improved, as are the animations. Graphics, score, maps are all gorgeous.

It plays wonderfully even though some flashbacks seem placed for my frustrating because again: I want that revenge. Angered bigots is just the cherry on top of this record selling masterpiece. I hope we get to revisit the world of TheBreathtaking narrative, brilliant cast and characters! The story made it difficult for me to put the controller down. I really wanted revenge for Ellie. It’s a shame the game went that direction.Joel and tommy are survivers for 24 years and said their names to completely strangers like unexperienced naive kids.After that joel gets killed in the most disgusting and dishonest way i have ever seen in a video game.You hunt down the killer of joel but the best part is you play as her too.You finally come to the end to get your revenge only to let the killer live and she bites your fingers off too and now you can’t even play with the guitar anymore what joel gifted you.The whole story is a joke and i hope neil drugmann gets kicked out of the studio he is definetly in the wrong position.

I'm sad to see this franchise ruined in the name of social justice without any thought paid to what made the first game so engrossing.

Graphics look nice but it doesn't really matter too much when you're playing it on a PS4 with terrible frame rate. Everything feels forced and out of place in this game, there's really no words to describe how disappointed I am with this game after waiting for it for so long. Good job naughty dog you really subverted our expectations with this one I guess, can't wait for the terrible sequel, in which i will not waste $60 like i did with this game.… Expand

    This game is sadly the product of a misguided development team with one big issue - Neil. He seems to see himself as someone above our intellectual class, seeking to preach us on how “right think” works and doesn’t think us public are intelligent enough to understand simple and well trodden themes    I don’t want to spoil the self indulgent “high art” storyline. It’s certainly interesting.

    Boneheaded decisions and questionable plot choices will make every fan of the first game say “are you serious?” This game goes the way of game of thrones season 8, and it ain’t pretty. Graphics are nowhere near enough to alleviate the colossal mistakes in the plot that NaughtyDog will surely come to regret.

    Played the game for 5 hours. Already worth the price. Feels like a next generation, and sets the bar for pushing gaming forwards. People seem to be upset regarding a spoiler in the story, it adds to the emotionally driven story telling.

    Anyone giving this game under a 7 is a hurt fanboy. Buy it.

    Incredibly crafted both in visuals and gameplay, with truthful and beautiful performances, and a storyline that pays off the themes and questions raised by the previous game. It's a game about hate, and whilst it might not be giving you what you want the characters to have, it is a bold vision executed by the creators to give a clear message: hate will destroy you.

Then imagine finding out years later that there will be a sequel to a game that you already love. You go out to buy the new sequel, The Last of Us Part 2, getting home and start playing the game. Then imagine being faced with nothing but disappointment. You find out that the developer has been lying about the content of the sequel and has been false advertising about the story about Joel. Now imagine one of the main characters that you love , Joel gets killed in a way to show killing the patriarchy. Yes, they kill Joel with a golf club to symbolize him being killed by a male reproductive external organ. What's worse, in the game you are forced to do horrid unethical things but you don't get a choice. You have to do it in order to progress in the game then the game nags you about what a horrid person you are after wards. The cherry on the top, you have to play as Joel's killer. It was bad enough that he was killed, but then you have to play as his murderer. The game has great graphics and the game mechanics I find sub par, but the story and lack character development has led me to have nothing but disdain for this game. I would only buy this game as a gift to people that I dislike. If you love the first The Last of Us, then don't buy/play this game.… Expand

    Beautiful game with a powerfully dark story! It’s had its highs and it’s lows but the highs were equal if not better than the first game and the lows were minimal. I usually don’t go with critic reviews over user reviews but in this case the users score is far off.

The game will NOT move the the field forward, and will be forgotten QUICKLY. Inspiration does not equal reality. Thus no one - devs or fans - should get anymore riled up. Keep the peace. The devs are mostly decent people, as are most fans. The following review is of course negative, but I have taken care to ensure my criticism is as impersonal as possible.

    2. Its “divisiveness” seems to be mostly a lie, or at least exaggerated. The creators clearly did damage control by saying the game was created this way - when in reality, its problems just came to surface.

    3. The game itself is not too bad - perhaps a middling shootfest at best - but the major problems are the thematic components. The often quoted cycle of revenge leading to hard won forgiveness isn’t explored accurate to reality, but doesn’t want to be melodramatic either - leading one to question whether two different perspectives made this game. Either way, it’s overwhelmingly inaccurate, yet ineffectively melodramatic storyline fails on both execution strategies.

    However, the real reason I am penalizing it harshly is because it reinforces a cycle of nihilistic pessimism found in today’s media. To even state this game is trying to “discuss” or “bring up” issues is a clear misrepresentation of the truth - it has a certain perspective on life that it poorly defends. As anyone who works in social work knows (I have, for multiple years) - this is about the worst thing to put out to the public. Thus, in the interest of protecting the mentally fragile - I strongly advise this game to be censored, significant sequences to be cut, or scrapped altogether. I repeat - MEDIA THAT MIGHT CAUSE MENTAL HEALTH PROBLEMS IN PEOPLE DUE TO ITS POOR UNDERSTANDING OF SOCIAL ISSUES is not worthy of being sold. Those at-risk people will not see the game for what it is - an Americanized, ego-centric, woefully inaccurate glamorizing of grief - they might actually associate some parts to their worldview. This is categorically unethical.

    I apologize if the review seems harsh, but you can’t just make games carelessly - some thought has to be put into your audience. Artistry requires attention, and attention of people is lost when trust between creator and consumer is breached.

    Regardless, remember none of this is that deep. I hope whoever reads this - fan, hater, or neutral - hope you have a great rest of day and a great life ahead.

Especially people who are claiming to have beaten a 30 hour game less that 2 hours after its release and hasn't even been on the market for 15 hours yet .     At first I hated the game and the story, but after thinking about what I saw, I changed my mind and consider the story of this game, if not great then definitely cool and important for the industry.
    Abby's character loses his father and the decision is revenge. She does it viciously, killing Joel in front of Ellie. The consequences are obvious - Ellie takes revenge for Joel and almost completes what she should, but STOP .. what should? Revenge?
    In this cycle of revenges, we understand one SIMPLEST thing - revenge does not lead to anything good, it will not become easier for anyone, it won't bring people back and etc. We are convinced of this both from the side of Abby, who losed all her friends and everything as result of revenge and from the side of Ellie too, who losed her friend Jesse, almost losed Dina (pregnant!) and Tommy.
    That's why revenge does not lead to good, and if players understands it then it will be the best experience from this game, and if not they will simply obscure it and will not understand the message of the authors.
    About the moment (actually a couple of moments) where Ellie were angry to Joel for pulling her out at the end of the first part. These words describe this in full - "When we have we don't appreciate, when we lose, we take revenge."

    Drackman clearly took the BRAVEST move, turning the story around the way it was done and madmen like him are the engines of the industry, not otherwise.    … Expand
