I waited like 5 years to play this and it wasn’t as good as I expected it to be. Joel died in a dishonorable way less than 2 hours in. Then the rest of the story we get annoying characters that I had no sympathy for. Jessie was one of my favorite original characters and he also died in a dishonorable way. This whole story was just kind of a let down. Abbys part took WAY too long and I didn’t even care about it AT ALL. The graphics gameplay and music were the only decent part about this game. In the trailers I thought the game would be about ellie and joel but they weren’t. It was some crappy revenge story and we didn’t even get revenge in the end? What? Big let down. If there’s a last of us 3 it better not be like the last of us 2. I had faith this would be good.… Expand

    Great game. Everyone’s being over dramatic, for what it is it’s a good game and I enjoyed it. I went into it knowing the spoilers and what not but wanted to test the game out for myself to form my own opinion. This game is all about perspective, if you find it hard to see life from another lens or walk a mile in someone else’s shoes and empathise with the “other side” then you won’t likeGreat game. If you’re open to letting a game take you on an emotional roller coaster with great sound, beautiful music, breathtaking graphics and an interesting story, then I recommend you try “the last of us part II” it’s worth the experience alone.… Expand

    Потрясает она геймплей, графикой, анимациями и сюжетом. ток вот что касается сюжета потрясать он будет всех по разному кто-то его будет возносить в абсолют, а кто-то ненавидеть. Но может быть и другая точка зрения. Вот я считаю какого хера в это игре нет выбора, он очень сильно бы спас ситуацию, конечно не    Игра потрясающая но не идеальна, и это нормально так ка таких игр в принципе нет.

    Phenomenal... Daring... A joy to dive back into this world and figure it all out.

    The twist to play as both characters bugged me at first but quite rightly i then became to like Abbey and realise the parallels and intertwined life they both had. Well done Naughty Dog... well done

Graphics Look Next gen.Sound effects sounded true and brutal.Gustavo songs far and few.my favorite songs came from all of ellies guitar playing,the song that joel plays for her in the beginning of the game.ND has found a great way of using the swipe bar on the PS4 controller allowing you to play guitar.The combat the same as the first game and is frustrating at times.the melee system is kinda clunky,the shooting is very slow and inaccurate.If anything i feel the prone button came in way more useful then the jump and they should have hyped that up more because it was extremely useful and long overdue feature that was finally added.The dogs was a very bad choice in my opinion.Now the story.The first half playing as ellie was more or less fine.The joel death scene in particular should have been done a different way if he wanted to do that story.First off joel and tommy save abby and within 5min of gametime i think it was shes blowing his leg off and playing golf on his head.That specific part felt rushed, and not fleshed out.It was also out of character for tommy and joel to just reveal their base along with their names .The flashbacks in my eyes stole the show and really hit an emotional beat.My issue with this is they were far and few between.The first one in particular was sweet and a feel good sad moment for the player.So for ellies side of the game neil wanted to convey that she wants revenge for joel but it becomes pretty clear that is not the only thing that is bugging her.Throughout the flashbacks you find out that she is beyond upset with joel and finds out he lied about the hospital incident.So all the time your playing as ellie you slowly see her get worst and worst descending into darkness.They honestly could have just done ellies side up until she hunted down abby and exacted revenge. I felt the game did not need much of abbys side story at all.You could have just told her story via cutscenes throughout ellies trip to finding ellie.I did not enjoy playing as abby at all once i was forced too.As i got more into the cult part with lev i did take a tiny bit of interest but nothing huge.To me abbys section of the game felt almost like another game entirely.You find out that lucy(lev) was actually the trans player people were referring too.I dont think there was an agenda here.Lev becoming trans fit into the story of the seraphites not accepting him and hunting him down.So i dont feel that trans was forced into the game.i feel like ellies relationship felt true and honest,my only complaint is that ND chose to focus on fleshing out an unlikable character abby instead of a likeable character dina.I think the story would have been alot better exploring ellies and dinas relationship further as ellie slowly loses her mind to hate.Most of the charachters on abbys side i hated.Owen had good character ark and is the only one outside of yara and lev that i actually felt somewhat invested in.Now the ending parts of the game.You are forced to fight ellie as abby after she just killed jesse and what appeared to be a gunshot to tommys head.Trying to recreate that father/daughter relationship joel had just annoyed me and made me dislike abby more.no fault to laura bailey did a very good job and trying to make abby relatable and have empathy for.Then they show ellie back on the farm with dina.Tommy gives ellie all this info and wants her to finish abby.She doesnt think she can and tommy just starts hating on her because of it saying stuff way out of line.Whether its grief that he had or brain damage thats causing him to act like that it defintely does not feel true.the ending scene with abby and ellie fighting it out.The scene it self was well done.Sadly it ends with ellies 2 fingers getting bitten off and then letting abby just leave.This felt unsatisfied and pretty much made me question why this game was made even in the first place. If he was going to do that then he needed to spend more time emphasizing ellies departure into the darkness and how she just cant let the hate go instead of a side story about abby's fight with the seraphites.The ending scene when she arrives back to dina and the house is empty was pretty sad and did a good job emotionally but there was so much more room to emphasize with ellie they could have done to really bring a tear to your eye.I only got teary eyed during the final scene with joel and ellie talking about she just cant forgive him.This scene needed more because it was on the verge of being really emotional but its like the writers just decided to hold back.just an ok game and makes me sad that they chose to flesh out abby rather then focus on the true stars of the game joel and ellie.The game would have benefited more from flashbacks showing more of the anger she slowly kept getting towards joel finally leading up to an emotional ending scene where she finally tries to forgive him.Hell it would have been even better to have tommy give ellie a final letter from joel. Appena finito il gioco ho detto: Ma a cosa CA**O ho appena giocato. Una trama molto triste ed emozionante allo stesso tempo in cui in alcune scene vi farà rimanere senza fiato. Che altro dire... questo gioco è il massimo che può dare in questa generazione. Io attualmente sono ancora senza parole ripensando a questo Capolavoro e sicuramente lo rigiocherò per approfindirne il gameplay. Questa OPERA ARTISTICA vale tutti i soldi che ho speso. Maybe by those who got spoiled it was hard to see character decisions being made when they were made. Maybe there's another agenda that they find offensive for no reason. But all that aside I thought this was a great game the story was done well characters were well written and most of all it was well executed i think playing the game and experiencing the story without it being spoiled made it a lot easier to see the events unfold I feel as if you were to have told me prior i would be confused and not understand why this happened and get upset with this plot. By seeing the story payout the way it did amazed me and tugged on my heart in all different ways. Playing this game made me appreciate the relationship between Joel and ellie that much more and the new character Abby was amazing, she showed me that behind every death theres someone who cared for them and what lengths some people will go through to make others suffer like she did and in the end regret it. Seeing ellie get over his death in the end and not killing abby was the most adult thing she could do and probably took everything in her to not finish the job. One last thing I want to mention is the guitar in this game, in the beginning you start as joel and you hand the guitar to ellie then you play as her in the end ellie sets that guitar down and the screen no longer focuses on her. The story is over and it was an excellent job I cant wait to see what Naughtydog does next!… Expand

    This game is goated. if you like the first one, you’ll love this one. The story is just as emotionally involved as the first. The combat and gameplay is smoother. The graphics in this game are best in class. Overall a 10/10 experience. Recommend playing on survivor if you want to feel rewarded for your efforts.

    I can only talk about this game in superlatives. There is no word, that how grateful I'm for the Naughty Dog to put this incredible effort to create even the tiniest details and drop my jaw everytime when I play this unbelievable adventure. This game is worth even way more money than It costs. Thanks again for this great experience!

Lets say you do not like how the story is going you still have to at least give 5 out of 10 points for the super graphics, the super intense situations and the all and all awesome game play.
    I do not understand the hate on the Story for me the story starts as a clear case of Abby being the bad Guy by killing Joel and Ellie by being to good one for avenging his cruel and gruesome Death. But when you start playing as Abby and even before you see that the World is not only Black and White and that both of them have reasonable points for their Actions leading to me being a little bit annoyed by the way Ellie acts at the end.
    The only point where I can think of criticism is needed is the end. For me the perfect ending would have been with Ellie, JJ and Dina on the Farm trying to help Ellie get out of her Pt-sd. I personally think that the part in Santa Barbara is a little bit stretched and long but still comes up with a very good Cut scene leading to see Ellie trying to forgive Abby just like the way She tried to forgive Joel.    … Expand

    This is the best game I’ve ever played in my life.
    Bad ratings are only from people who can’t enjoy a game that it’s not going how they want it to go.
    It’s all perfect, gameplay, graphic, storyline...I don’t know I feel like I’ve dreamed about this story for how it looked and felt realistic to play it.

The main arc of the game is really a great F*ing idea, i was worried how they would justify a sequel to a perfect ending but the central idea of the story is something so believable that it was bound to happen.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Absolutely fantastic! Sure there are certain aspects to the narrative that people may find hard to swallow, such as Joel's Death. Which kinda makes me remember the feeling when Joel's daughter died in the original title.
    I honestly cannot see where all the hate is coming from for this game. Do yourself a favour and play this game, you will not be disappointed. The graphics and game play are amazing, the story line is fantastic. Just because I don't like one aspect of that story line, I'm not going to hate the whole story.
    Obviously a lot of review bombing has gone on here. My advise is just ignore that and play it.    … Expand

Something that Ellie takes to heart, and pursuits – no matter the costs. It makes Ellie and the player commit acts of violence and sometimes extremely questionable decisions driven by an obsession to pursuit justice. It made this thing Ellie said in the first game echo in my head, “After all we’ve been through….everything that I’ve done. It can’t be for nothing.” And the presence of the meaning that that line carries can be felt throughout the game. It’s like the justification of her whole vendetta, but ultimately empty because of her trauma and the loss of meaning her life has because of what happened to her. In the end, after all of her sacrifices what she understood wasn’t necessarily forgiveness, nor fulfillment or even destruction – but the acceptance of her own existence and as well as her curse of being immune.     Naughty Dog made the first game look like a demo to the second . They really outperfomed themselves . Incredible game loved everything about it no need to explain further , just play it !

    Wow... This game has already been reviewed almost 50,000 times. Compare that to the recent Final Fantasy 7 remake, which is as big if not a bigger game at just over 4,000 reviews. This game is being flooded by people who hate diversity and representation. It is simply mob mentality and fabricated outrage.     Overall very happy with the direction the story took, showing the dangers and consequences of letting revenge consume you and differing perspectives of all those involved.
    Fantastic graphics and game play as well.

    This game builds upon the last in every way. If you are offended by the new lead character you perhaps need to get a grip. Amazing story, beautiful graphics, better movement and better fighting overall. This is so far one of the most amazing game I've ever enjoyed playing.

    Really? Thats the plot? And ok dead?... time to get a refund. Another game where the critics pander to the game studios so that their access doesn't get cut off. Graphics are good, story sucks. Its like a great story got attacked by Hollywood and written for the lowest common denominator. Save yourself the money and pass on this one.

Gráficamente es un deleite, a nivel técnico un gran mejoramiento respecto a su predecesora. La historia me tiene súper enganchado. No hay más que decir, es un JUEGAZO. Se merece una mejor puntuación.

The first reason I give it that score is because it is a pretty good plot and I don't understand why there is a problem with Ellie being a lesbian. Are The Last of Us Part 2 players homophobic? On the left behind DLC, it says so. Didn't they play it? Or they just do that to a game expected by many of us for 7 years. Why do they do it? Game over? Or did they leave him when Joel dies? I don't understand with their discontent with the game, if their game is very good, their story is very good, why do they do it? Or do they not like to play with Abby because they have to fight against Ellie? It shows us the two sides of the coin that exists in the game.

    Although it subverted expectations in a way I don’t fully agree with, it delivers another satisfying installation to The Last of Us story.

    A clever take on morality told through a non conventional story structure. It makes you question your actions all the way to the end.

    I waited so long for this game and had the absolute best weekend of this year. I could not wait to continue and also took a day off work to have the time to finish it as soon as possible.
    It was compelling, with lovely moments to laugh about. But also haunting, violent and heartbreakingly honest to what a human being ist capable of. This game shows two women, who are in fact no heroes. They experienced different, but similar losses in their lifes and are captivated in revenge and hate. But there is always someone who is worth fighting for. Sometimes its their own soul. So the motto of the fireflies if a pretty good way to describe a bit of this game. Its not just a game full of loss and hate, but also a silverlining. Please don't let the haters win with their bad ratings. Just play the game for yourself. It is worth every penny.

    Please naughty dog continue that saga with Ellie, or Ellie and Joel their story is fantastic, not Abby and Lev please, me and the community hate Abby! We can't play with her! A parts of the story left me a little disappointed in this part 2 but, Ellie and Joel are the best characters in the story of video-game and their story is the best emotional ever, true love from Italy ❤️

    Excellent work! I had a very strong emotional experience. After the end of the story I couldn't stop crying for a few hours. The gameplay is amazing, the scenes are incredibly realistic, every detail worked out particularly. This work is provocative in this segment. It's real masterpiece of art.

People pissed because they killed Joel and had to play Abby? Get over youself. If you don't pick a side (even though it's hard af not to) then it's much more enjoyable. I was extremely sad when Joel died but it was necessary for the story. And I was extremely skeptical when I had to play as Abby but her side of the story is sooo well done!! People complaing about the game pushing an LGBTQ+ agenda on people obviously have other problems going on in their brain so those opinions do not **** matter. It's rare to find a game that makes you feel conflicted, sad, remorseful, horrified, happy and scared. This game lets you see the other side of things in such a good way! This is the G.O.A.T. of video games and it's insane that people are writing it off because of Joels death or Abby being a playable character for half the game. And OMG, the amount of people that played 7ish hours of the game, decided they didn't like that Joel died or how he died so they stopped playing and watched the ending online is absolutely ridiculous. You're missing out on sooooo much context. The whole point of it was to show you the other side of the story and yeah that has been done before, sure, but it has never been done this well. Who tf watches a movie, decides that they don't like the beginning so they skip to the end and see the ending without context and decides it's crap? You didn't watch the movie, you've seen less than a quarter of it. Who starts a tv series, watches the first episode, decides they don't like that someone died and then skips to the final episode of the series and decides they don't like it? Are you kidding me? The fact that people are doing it with a masterpiece of a game and acting like their opinion on it matters is ridiculous. I guarantee the majority of the low scores are a mix people that did that, trolls, and bigots who are mad about LGBTQ+ characters. Yes, there will be a select few that just did not enjoy the game because it's not their type of game and that I can respect. But play the whole game!     The last of us was how I first got into video games. I've been waiting seven years to feel that way again. Then I discover that the writers actually butchered part 2. The storyline is predictable, not unique, and is massively hypocritical in terms of the so called 'message'. The filler content is very boring. They did an awful job, what a waste of money and a massive disservice to the fans.

The huge problem for me is the story. I could’ve understanded Joel’s death if it actually meant something in the end, but it doesn’t. Ellie ends up going for revenge after some encounters with Abby and killing everyone else that had a hand in his death, but as she’s drowning Abby, she has a flashback of Joel and lets go. It makes no damn sense and you’re forced to play as a character you hate for the latter half of the game. If this was the first game in the series, I would’ve been fine with it, but this game is a complete 180 from its predecessor and shows a massive disconnect between Naughty Dog and the fan base.… Expand

The story when boiled down to bullet points is simple and seemingly poor, but it's not about that, it's about the moment to moment character experiences and challenges your ability to empathise it simply cannot be told in a few short plot points, much like the original game - when boiled down is also seemingly paper thin but astoundingly deep beneath the surface.

    This is a game about parallels, pain and the futility in pursuing hatred. Those that responded to this with vitriol are ironically the people best served to learn from the story being told.

    The gameplay is expansive and fun, fights are brutal, violent and astoundingly dynamic and cinematic. The visuals are the best I've seen this console generation, to the point where I can't wait to see this on the PS5 with some more gumption - the fact that is even runs on the PS4 as well as it does is amazing.

    How anyone can think this is anything short of one of the greatest games of this generation is bewildering. If you love the original game, go in with an open mind and use that trust built up through the previous story telling. There's no 'agenda' here Neil Druckmann and co. are just here to make you suffer in the greatest way possible.    … Expand
