Now to the actual game: Graphics are breathtaking. I personally liked the overall mechanics – still many didn't.

Still, the story is a boring "Kill Bill" copy and not even executed well. The first 15h of the game feel like a tutorial being too long. Playing Ally first feels just wrong but after some time her relationship to Lev is one of the few good points were similar emotions come up to the time when Joel and Ellie started to connect. But that's about all actually.
The characters are flat, not very funny (I especially liked the way Ellie was a "big mouth" in the first part – all gone now) and have changed significantly – especially Ellie. There are only traces of the "old Ellie" of pt. 1 in her character left.

It's a shame to see where the story has come. A bad story would have made an average game. The game is below average because it's first 13 h could be shrunk down to 3 – that would have been more fun than this torture we've been asked to play. Sad.

The Last Of Us nasceu e morreu no primeiro!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This has to be one of the most disappointing sequels of all time, disrespectful to the first game and all that it stood for. The story is poorly executed and full of plot holes. The characters that we've waited 7 years for are shadows of their former selves and act idiotically. I feel mislead by false advertising, I bought this game for a story about Ellie and Joel, a story about revenge. I play as another character for half the game that I despised for brutally torturing and murdering my favorite character 2 hours into the game. How an earth was this approved of. The second half of the game was a drag and suffered from some of the worst pacing issues I've ever had the displeasure of experiencing. What also made the original game so special were the side characters, how they were all stellar in their own unique ways. They truly were a gift, I can name every single one of them and remember why I liked them years later for how impressionable they were. Every single one of the new characters lacked depth, I just didn't care and by the time you start growing any connection to them they all are maimed or die. What in the hell were they thinking skipping the 4 years we actually were interested in. They rely so much on shock value and shoving a message down your throat that they sacrificed a well thought out streamlined plot with phenomenal character development which is why most people loved the 1st game. I just felt nothing for these characters. At every moment I see violence is bad. look here abby collects coins, there's two sides to every story, I DON'T CARE. Look you killed Abby's dog now go play fetch with it. I DON'T CARE. It's so manipulative. Look she's pregnant, dead. Feel bad, Ellie bad after Ellie ACTUALLY kills her in self defense. Look at what you've become, let abby live, PISS OFF. After everything I don't even get to kill Abby the psycho who feels no regret after anything she did, at least Ellie was questioning herself, shaking and puking. In the words of the pregnant lady "You're a piece of **** Abby". Shooting someone who save you with a shotgun and hitting them with a golf club, shooting children, sleeping with people in relationships, being so great at killing you're one of the highest members of the WLF.
She got revenge and got away with Lev, Ellie doesn't get revenge losing everything. Miserable game, It's the death of the franchise for many. It already needs to be remade. I've never felt so disappointed with a game ever. I've never felt the need to review a game until this one. I really wanted a great sequel or no sequel at all, this has tainted the 1st game for me which is my favorite game of all time. That was my worst fear.

The Last of Us 2 is one of, if not the best gaming experience I have ever had (sounds like an exaggeration but I really mean it). This game shook me to the core and left me emotionally wrecked by the time I completed the story; Naughty Dog has done a great job of getting the player invested in the game and its characters and has made a valiant effort in exploring parallel narratives that force you to empathise with both perspectives of the story so far. The gameplay, albeit very similar to the original game, has vastly improved in fluidity, animations, and does a great job of providing the player options to explore, take multiple routes, and discover the world around them in a much more natural manner (compared to the prequel). The combat is also an impressive step up from the first game; each encounter flawlessly creates an atmosphere of tension and fear that I haven't felt to such a degree in games I've played before. The stealth system has improved, the player has more freedom of movement, and weapon customizations and character upgrades allow you to choose which playstyle suits you best. Oh, and need I mention the graphics?

But more about the story - as aforementioned I thoroughly enjoyed it, it does a great job at forcing the player to reflect on their decisions and look at the conflict from various perspectives. Without spoiling too much: halfway through the game, there is a somewhat sudden shift to a parallel narrative that was taking place throughout your playthrough up till that point. This part of the game is what is a turn off for many players, as they find the jump too jarring and out of place. Although I disagree, I do see where they're coming from and do acknowledge the slight pacing issues that are a consequence of this twist. There is also a certain fight sequence right before the epilogue of the game which didn't quite sit right with me, but I can't say much without spoiling the story.

Overall, I think this game is nothing short of a masterpiece, and much like the prequel is a giant leap forward for storytelling in video games. The best advice I can give you is to go in with an open mind, and you'll certainly love it.

Of course, I have always loved diving into a game like Valorant or Overwatch or even a fun party game from time to time but story driven games will always have a special place in the world of gaming. Instead of being explicitly told a story, games allow us to come along for the ride. For The Last of Us 2, this is arguably for the worst. Although a technical and visual masterpiece, the story leaves the player manipulated into cheapening everything from the first game. The player is made to feel guilty for a murder that never was forced upon the player in the first game in the first place. Then the player is made to sympathize with a new character. I get it but I also don't care because the story is poorly paced and manipulative in how it portrays its characters. Ellie is demonized by the decisions you are forced to make and Abby never has to make said choices that would make the player feel conviction. It feels less like this moral grey area the writers thought they were making and more like forcing their feelings of the main characters onto the player. The writer's described their intentions as to "make the player question everything from the first game". This game made me really question every decision involving the writing in the second game. Neil Druckman and the writers really threw away what is otherwise a beautiful game with their heavy handed, shallow story telling that ultimately makes for an unsatisfying sequel. Expand

Better than any movie I have ever watched and probably top 3 story lines of any game I have ever played. Short review: Game play has not changed much from the last game, Graphics are top notch, Gore is off the chart, and the storyline is enthralling! Long review: I rarely pay full price for any game but going of the reputation of the previous title and its DLC, I pre-ordered this the night before the release to download overnight. From the very beginning you are thrown right back into the first game. The feeling of despair and disconnection are experienced as Joel describes to his brother the events that took place on his journey across the country. How he took something not only from the world but from Ellie herself. Something that gave her a purpose in life, that gave her a drive to continue as everyone else died around her. As the game goes on, we see them both come to grips with their past while trying to survive in a world with just a shred of light as they make their new home in Jackson.
I don't want to give too much else away, but the game runs you through almost every human emotion there is to be felt. You see the perspective of your enemies throughout the game’s multiple bloody conflicts (I do mean bloody). There is gore everywhere as you furiously try to stave off getting eaten alive, evade maniacs that want to make you a sacrifice, or crazies who want to put you into slavery as an infected fighting gladiator. As the credits rolled and the awesome acoustic score played, I sat reminiscing for 20 minutes on the experience of it all. There is something here for everyone. A story of a daughter and her benefactor turned father figure, a brother trying to help is own blood navigate through his second chance, and a daughter coming to grips with loss. I have heard some say the game is “pandering” to a larger audience. There is a strong LGBT and feminine presence in the game that in my opinion is woven into the story well and does not distract from the experience. Having played the first games DLC Left Behind, I already knew what to expect from Ellie’s character going into this one. I did very much like to see the strong presence of Asian characters throughout the game as well, something I have not often seen in American based story lines.
The only disappointment I had with the game is I felt the infected where kind of 3rd class advisories. Runners where no threat, clickers were barely a challenge even when alerted as you could just run away to a safe distance to shoot, and bosses such as the bloated where very few. Yet with even this there are two or three great fights with the infected culminating with what i will say is the "showdown" in the garage. All in all the fighting system as a whole could use just a little update to make it more dynamic. With all this being said, go into the game with an open mind, an extra pair of pants, and the will to survive. You will not be disappointed!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I **** loved The Last Of Us(1), I was 12 when I played it (I’m now 18) and it truly was the first video game that made me feel emotional. Not to mention the ending to the first game got me choked up because of the beautiful soundtrack but also the powerful writing and performances. Personally, I believe that if Joel was to be killed, it would be done in a heroic way. The fact that Abby just so happens to be saved by Joel is just goddamn lazy to me. Owen and Abby discussed how they’d get into to Jackson and if he (Joel) would even be there. I also feel heavily mislead with the trailer for the game making it seem like Joel and Ellie were going on another journey together.
I was beginning to like Jessie as a character but then boom, he’s shot in the **** face, I guess because if Abby missed then she would’ve been killed by them both; end of the story. I was hoping we would be able to play as badass Tommy, avenging his brothers goddamn death, but no, he had to lose eye to Abby and get a hobble as well. I mean Tommy was basically maimed, Jessie was murdered. Abby then decides, that’s not enough?! Tf?
Some questions I have is why weren’t Joel and Tommy suspicious about some random ass people so close to the town of Jackson? Why were they so trusting to these people? Wouldn’t they have been hostile to an unknown group like Maria was to Joel and Ellie at the dam? If Dina sensed she may be pregnant, why would she put herself and her unborn baby in danger? Why would that Mel character choose to go out on a mission even though she was more pregnant than Dina?!
The last thing that pissed me off the most was the ending. Ellie was seeing images of Joel’s beaten-to-a-pulp corpse, you’d think she would just have killed Abby out of pure sadness and rage. That would’ve impacted just in general and would’ve been more human. That was Ellie’s whole reason for going to California in the first place. She ruined her relationship with Dina for nothing. Ellie killed arguably dozens of “WLF’s” that weren’t connected to Joel’s death in any way. These such wolves may have just presided in Seattle. No, no, killing one more person would be terrible. I left the Last Of Us Part 2 with a feeling of confusion and a scowl on my face. The story was “out of order”. There was a lot of lazy writing in my opinion and convenience for the plot. The characters of this game didn’t feel like they were the same universe as the first game. Let me say this again, I loved The Last Of Us(1). In fact I played the first game probably 7 times, I had fun with the MP part of the game as well. I am not even going to play The Last Of Us 2 a second time. To put it very bluntly, the story is **** the visuals are phenomenal, the animations are really good, and the gameplay has a dodge and jump option.

However, a story-based game definitely must have a much better story and character development. the characters of Ellie and Tommy are not developed enough. To me, what completely ruins the game is forcing you to play as Abby for like 10-15 hours (almost half of the game) right before the main story's climax. I don't know if anybody else felt like I did, but I couldn't care less about Abby's character and story, and I never got to empathize with her, I think is what the writers were aiming for. I was there for Ellie, the only thing I was thingking about while I was playing abby was Ellie I just wanted to go back to her and fight by her side. I think if they had just removed that part from the game, it would be much better. I feel like everything's been done to make Joel and Ellie look bad. It's the wrost ending i've seen. I can't express how disappointed I am right now, after 7 years of waiting. Lazy and amateur writing, the developers had pure gold in their hands, and threw it away. As a note: Don't be fooled by the negativity generated by online gossip about inclusionism - the inclusion of transsexual and homosexual characters is sensible in story context and does not overshadow any important aspects of the story.

    As for my review itself:

Gameplay is smooth and visceral, though places more focus on appearing cinematic than feeling responsive in the way other action-oriented games are. The most impressive aspects are the incredibly lifelike and fluid animations, and the enemy AI which is deep and extremely believable. The multitude of difficulty options are a great assistance in tuning the game to a setting you enjoy. I found that I loved stealthier sections, but was put off by straight-up fights that would result in immersion-breaking deaths and trial-and-error gameplay. I was very pleased to find that there are different difficulty settings for stealth, combat, and resource gathering that can all be adjusted individually.

The presentation is phenomenal as usual for a Naughty Dog game. The graphics are just as impressive as they appear in the trailers, and the music (though often subdued, lying in the background) is very appropriate and shines through when it needs to.

Clearly the most contentious and important aspect is the story itself. Director Neil Druckmann stated long before release that while The Last of Us was about love, the sequel would be about hate. This is an extremely accurate summation of the themes and tone of this game: it is incredibly bleak and upsetting. To create a game that intentionally inflicts emotional pain and discomfort on players is a tricky balancing act: push the tragedy and frustration too far and you risk alienating players who just want to have fun or indulge in some escapism. The story of The Last of Us Part II clearly doesn't sit right with many players for this reason, though I think many people are too quick to condemn games that confront them with unfortunate realities or uncomfortable situations. This game deliberately forces its players to engage in actions and gameplay segments that they will want no part of in order to drive home its core message. These parts of the game are meant to make you feel bad. The main characters of this game make a lot of terrible decisions, and this has upset a lot of players who believe they know the characters better than the writers do. It is important to understand that none of us who live modern lives and can afford the time to complain about videogames on the internet have the faintest understanding of what it's like to grow up in the kind of world portrayed in this franchise.

This drama confronts players with some of the darkest, most vile depths of human behavior, and as a result, it is not a fun story to be a part of. If you play this game and feel frustrated that things don't go the way you want them to, then the story is working as intended. It is a portrayal of the futility of revenge, and is clearly meant to leave you feeling empty and exhausted. I have personally never been emotionally affected by a game as much as I have been by this one.

It’s a great game, but the people think the characters are super humans or something but NO! They are humans that get angry and make mistakes, it’s a great experience with more or less downsides but definitely it DOSNT deserve a 3 of score.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I absolutely loved part 1 and couldn't wait to get my hands on part 2 to see the story concluded.
Now that I've finished part 2 I'm still not sture if I got the end I wanted but I definitely got a great game.

    Graphics & Sound:
The graphics are top notch. Various very real looking environments. Forests, old cities taken back by nature, river deltas, dark tunnels. All looking pretty great and very atmospheric.
Definitely vividly beautiful as well as dark, super scary areas.
Particles, lighting, weather effects are all great as well. Firefights and animations are up to date.
Sounddesign was awesome as well. The soundtrack consists of a lot of sad guitar tunes, some contemporary tracks and general great ambient music. Sound effects all sounded real and full.

    Gameplay:
Didn't change much from last game to be honest, just received a few little updates to the gunplay mechanics.
You still run around looting, go through stealth passages that feel so real that you actually hold your breath and fight firefights that make you feel like a real action-hero.
All in all super smooth gameplay that was hard enough to fail a couple of times and didn't go through lenghts that made me want to lay down the control and do something else.
Naughty Dog implement a few less environmental riddles, which I think is a good choice, as finding ladders, plugging in cables and pushing creates aren't the most creative ways to spend time in video games. The riddles to open the safes were great though! I really enjoyed running around looking for clues to crack the codes.

    Story:
First of all. Yeah, it sucks that the story didn't really deal with Ellie's immunity and what it means for her and humanity anymore. Somehow this was just dropped.
The revenge plot felt a little lazy at the beginning, but living those couple of days of Ellies and her antagonists Abby's lifes made you understand their intentions really well. And it was really heartbreaking to see what this messed up worlds made the 2 young girls become.
There is so much conflict in the story. Between people, between fractions, against the infected.
While all the characters are portrayed and acted really well the dark, disgusting world is really the star of this story.
To get a good feeling for how this world makes humans become the most messed up creatures was gutwrenching.
Not only was this story of the world told through the cutscenes but also through little notes that you find in the world that tell great stories themselves. I spent so much time thoroughly searching through every environments to find clues about what happened here and there and the game always rewarded me for that by giving me scenaries where I was like: "oh my god that happend here when the apocalypse broke out"

Indeed this maybe controversial to people who prefer plain right good guys and villains, even I always wanted the good guys to always win, but this game makes you realize that humans are way more complicated than that. In my opinion, I loved the game and the ending, the feels(mostly happy and slightly sad, overall satisfied) still linger on to me two days after finishing the game, very few games do that, the soundtrack and visuals are top notch and really enforce the storytelling. So please before judging, play the entire game and decide it for yourself, just don't get into the hate bandwagon just because you heard some spoilers, and that you didn't like a particular events or story decisions through those spoilers.

The Last of Us 2, probably the most anticipated sequel to a game ever. And that's why it makes a huge opportunity for Druckmann to fill this game with enormous amount of agenda and messages.
He knew very well people are not going to like it. But because he wasn't able to make a great story like he had done (by some miracle) back in early 2010's. So he just went full divisive, shocking, "cliché-less" and something he calls "revolutionary" and "AAA-redefining."
He made the game to appeal only to himself taking ideas for the characters from his wild dreams and making fanfictions the model for the plotline. And justifying this with "this is life, it's unfair, you have to deal with it, it won't always appeal to you."
The story is full of plotholes which Druckmann justifies with utter nonsense. The characters act out of character and are stupefied to infinity.
Every critic gave 100/100 because Naughty Dogs make only the best games and they're untouchable. Because they're too scared they're going to be blacklisted by Sony and eaten alive by shills.
The graphics are one of the best. I don't get why people act like it's somehow superior. There are other great-looking games. E.g. God of War, RDR2, Detroit. In my opinion Uncharted 4 looks better than Tlou2. The gameplay's pretty much the same as Tlou1 which is fine. The game is so hideously brutal and contains an unnecessary sex scene. No one's complaining about that. Guess when ND do it, it's ok and for the sake of the story.
This all would get this game to somewhere between 5/10 to 6.5/10.
But the main problem for me about the game are the totally unprofessional reactions Druckmann, Baker, Pierce, other staff, actors or fellow Sony comrades (such as Cory Balrog) pull off. Druckmann is so pathetic. For a man who said "I'd rather see people passionately hate it than be like 'it was ok'" it's so **** woeful he can't face criticism! Druckmann's ignoring all the constructive criticisms he gets everyday, he only responds to the most laughable, shakiest messages. And then he sticks out that 5½ racist, violent threats he got. Just miserable, wretched, pitiable and awful. It makes my ears want to puke whenever I hear their voices.
This sucks out every remaining points and gets the score to the bottom zero.
To Druckmann, shills and fanboys who think they're so intelecc when they "understand" the plot and say things like this:"the game's not supposed to be fun, it's supposed to be boring and bad to fully identify with the protagonists; it's a story the devs wanted to tell, not a story we wanted to hear; crunch culture is in every studio; false-advertising is in every project, welcome to the industry; you're too immature to understand the story; the haters are just some homophobes who don't like muscles on women, etc.; I'm gonna pull off some "Manny" for you.
Yeah... you keep telling yourselves that pičovina.

As I was watching the gameplay I was amazed at how much emotion I was feeling through my apathy and anhedonic mental state. What is this withcraft I thought to myself and went straight to PS-store and bought the game.

Finally, I could feel something after months and months of anxiety, helplessness and lethargy. Watching Joel's daughter die and feeling myself get more and more attached to Joel and Ellie was something I hadn't felt in years. The game's amazing graphics, Gustavo Santaolalla's bittersweet music and the incredible plot gave me hope. It gave me hope for life, something which my entire existence had been lacking for so long. It gave me back hope to keep on fighting and resist the void that was in my heart. The Last of Us reminded me that there still exists beauty in the world and that there are human relationships in this world that are worth looking for and fighting for. Just like Joel and Ellie find something that they considered worth fighting for.

As I was finishing the first game 7 years ago I started crying. I was sad and felt the helplessness and apathy for life slowly sneak its way back into my mind. I knew that the comfort and camaraderie that Joel and Ellie gave me had reached its end, but I knew I had to let them go. They had taught me to appreciate life and not be sad. Life's not too bad kiddo, like Joel would say. However, in my heart I was still hoping and begging that Naughty Dog would one day release a part 2 so I could join Ellie and Joel on another adventure and this time in a next-gen console with even better graphics and an even better story-line.

Two days ago I bought Part2, and I couldn't stop playing it. Frantically moving around as Ellie and Abbie hoping to finally go on adveture with Joel and Ellie once more. Seeing glimses of Joel and Tommy brought warmth and hope back into my heart. Finally, my two best friend would be together, but the tone was off from the start, so I was unsure what to think. Ellie was acting funny and Joel was distant in a strange way, like he had lost his tough brutal mentality.

I finished the game earlier today, and I am left speechless. I have no words. As the credits rolled in, I reluctantly pressed the button to the PS4 disk and shakingly removed the disk out of the console. Carrying the disk to the kitchen I placed my hand onto the stove. I turned on the stofe started burning my hand. I was uttering "This is what happens when you have hope, this is what happens". With second-degree burns I place the disk back into its cover and head off to the living room. I sit on the sofa and contemplate. What now? Is this it? Was this the game that I was hoping and waiting for 7 years? Was this the game that saved me from suicide 7 years ago? Were these the characters that helped me realize that life isn't too bad after all?

I went back to my room and picked up the disk with its cover once again. Like Joel picking up Ellie from the operating table in game 1, I picked up my newly bought game and carried it over to my game collection. As I was walking down to the basement I whisphered in its ear. "listen kiddo, everything is gonna be alright, dont worry, I gotcha". Carrying my child down to the basement made me realize how much I loved my kid. My bond with this game was too grand to let it go, but I knew unlike Joel in the first game that I had to let go, but I just couldnt. As I was placing the disk besides The last of us 1 and being reminded how much emotion that game made me feel. I felt ashamed and sad for placing TLOU2 besides it. I decided that I couldn't. I simply couldn't let it be in the same room as this game. I took TLOU2 out of the shelf and ran back up to the kitchen. I turned the stove back on, but this time, unlike in the first game of The Last of Us. I let the doctor do his thing. I watched as the letters on the disk started to melt and drip slowly onto the stove leaving behind a tar-like residue.

I watched the fumes from the burning plastic take the shape of Neil Druckmann's name and as all this was happening, my girlfriend walked in. She asked me "what are you doing?". I told her, "what I should've done the first time". Together, we were standing around the stove, watching our adopted child disappear and be sacrificed for the greater good. Thank you Naughty Dog for making me realize that some things are not meant for this world. Some things are meant to be forgotten. Some things are simply meant to be forgotten. Some things don't deserve to have a place in my heart. This game is one of those things. I hope you got your social and political agenda across, because you ruined the only game that helped me see the beauty of life. Thank you. Thank you so much. I hope you are happy for my 60 dollars now in your bank. Thank you.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Look, the reality is this game is meant to make you uncomfortable, and I’m not talking about the violence. Many fans go in with a lot of love for these characters and want nothing bad to happen to them or see them in a negative light. NG could have easily given people what they wanted, but they didn’t want to give fans what they felt entitled to, but write the story THEY wanted with the characters THEY own. Everything is AAA, but how you react to it will ultimately be your choice. Most, if not all, the negative reviews that are legitimate and not bandwagoning a vendetta, are reactionary rather than an actual criticism of the games quality. If anything hating the story for how it made you feel is a completely predictable reaction. Like I have no doubt people at NG are smiling because they succeeded in telling the story the wanted and they know there would be some who came out of it feeling hopeless and others feeling like they just got off a rollercoaster.

I am a rollercoaster rider. Always have been. I don’t play video games because I’m owed something by creators I play them for the same reason I read book, for the experience. Whatever that entails I’m always open to it. 5 years from now people will look back on this game and say it was wild and people will talk about it probably for decades.

If you’re like me, just go in and let the story do what it’s gonna do. You can’t stop it, but you can choose to experience it without pettiness. It’s up to you. I hope we see more of these uncompromising visions in all media. The game has so much to offer if you let it.

Video games are constructed around choice, and when I played the game for the first time, I expected one here. A lot of games, including highly ambitious ones, present you at various points with a kill-the-guy/don’t-kill-the-guy binary, allowing you to shape at least a part of your character’s morality. At this juncture of The Last of Us, however, there was nothing but a glaring lack of alternatives. The only way to move the story forward — and reach an ending in which I’d already invested 14 emotionally debilitating hours — was to murder the pleading doctor while his colleagues screamed “No!” and

Not only was Joels murder overly brutal for shock value, they made Joel into an idiot in order to do it. He made decisions that he would never have made, trusting armed strangers like he knew them.
    It's beyond dumb.

I just leave my 10 after finishing the game yesterday with tears in my eyes and say, hopefully it does well and TLoU 3 will not hold back taking a different not necessarily mainstream-popular-route again, just because of some haters, if it ever happens... (And no, I'm not saying one might not hate the game or be bored by it for subjective valid reasons... but what is going on here and in other places is just... sad.)

Flawless PS4 exclusive with a impeccable quality and gameplay.
Just falls short of the original story.

Fica apenas um pouco atrás da historia original. Mas possui qualidade técnica e de gameplay impecável digno de um exclusivo do PS4

This game is and will be the most **** one ever in the game history. The time being spent right now to write this review should be considered unworthy and waste, but still I am writing, because as many as people should know how this game is. I will never play any games released from Naughty Dog. You want to be "naughty"? Play this game!

I am so disappointed with what happened to this game, not because of the LGBTQ direction in it or the female characters being lead, but because of the terrible terrible story. Also because of the fact I have to play as a character I hate for 10 hours. Please save your money and please do not support these writers. Expand

Huge fan of the first game and now in my second play through of its sequel. It's a more adult story that is crafted beautifully. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Sony and Naughty Dog lied purposely to their fans before the launch and the plot leak. They said Ellie would be the only playable character. All the hype was all about Ellie and Joel and they made trailers which gave us a feeling that Joel would still appear a lot. They carefully hided everything about Abby and gave their fans wrong expectations, as they were afraid it would affect the pre-order number. So the game itself is not a game that bad. I played it and could have given it a 8/10. But in my opinion Neil Druckmann and Sony do deserve the backlash. Their action and attitude before and after the launch of the game deserve a 0. Expand

Humiliating my favourite character Joel by killing him in such way was something I neither expected nor wanted it to happen. You can't just bring new characters and making them heroes.
Joel IS the last of us.
I give it 2/10 just for the good gameplay and graphics.

Absolute repetitive combat. Story is hated by all TLoU's fans, regardless of what you hear. Nothing is solved, the politics and solutions to most of those politics are poorly implemented. What did Joel say? "If the Lord somehow gave me a chance to do things over, I would do it all over again"? Hey Neil Drukkman, do you feel the same way about your garbage story and the crunch you put those poor workers through? At least pay them, then you didn't screw EVERYONE involved with this franchise.

I feel like this sequel had to have different writers or something. All of the character development was gone, an overwhelming amount of plot holes, sh*tty writing and execution, and on top of that the game play itself wasn't even as enjoyable as the first. Myself and many others expected so much more from waiting seven years after the first game. Incredibly disappointing.

Amazing game mechanics - it's a technical marvel....but the story is bad.
"Last of Us: Part 2" is a poorly written narrative.

The first "Last of Us" game was phenomenal because of the overall experience. The concept, the gameplay, the characters, the fluid & naturally paced series of events, all contributed to what made the game such a sensation.

In "Last of Us: Part 2" There's no clear protagonist or antagonist. The dynamic of the game creates two main characters on opposing sides which they show through a series of jarring transitions that take you out of the immersive experience.

This creates a level of confliction and detachment from both characters that you never would have expected from a game who's predecessor crafted a story so well written you became emotionally invested in almost every character on screen.

At best it's a story of 2 women who's hearts grow cold and actions turn savage in a cruel unforgiving world. However, the journey to get to the story's resolution is unavoidably unsatisfying.

In the first "Last of Us" it was the journey of a man who once moved aimlessly through life, stumbling onto a mission to save the world. By transporting and protecting Elle he was instilled with a renewed sense of purpose and with it now had a reason to live. Clinging to this newfound reason to live he was ready to sacrifice anything to preserve it. "Without you, I'd surely lose myself".

"Last of Us: Part 2" said with every opportunity, "This is not the story you first fell in love with". So the entire game hinges on the concept of revenge and without it "the journey has no sense of PURPOSE".

So we as the audience are left thinking ".....well I sure hope she gets revenge then." But as soon as the thought crosses your mind the story shifts it's narrative to humanize the originally perceived antagonist to make you question the justification of revenge. Finally, you're left you realizing there are no good or bad guys, no heroes, no villains, no reason....to keep doing this.

So, in the end, you're left feeling empty because there was no point to any of the events you just played through.

This game does the "Last of Us" universe a disservice.

It's unavoidable to sense "They tried really hard to write an amazing story and missed the mark."

    It really is unfortunate.

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
