So l saw the leaks and for me the game was ruined and hated Neil druckmaan but once it came out my friends were saying it was a good game so l decided to try it for myself and l gotta say l wasn't disappointed, the games was full of anxitey moments and you didn't know what was gonna happen like the scene where Ellie gets ambushed in the theater but there was some bad writing mainly which is Joel's death
    I feel like that coulve been done better like him sacrificing himself for Ellie that would've been more emotional
    And as for the ending, it was depressing and unexpected and hitting you in many ways
    The graphics are the best same for the lighting and the blood and gore
    So that's why it is a 9 for me    … Expand

    This game fails as a sequel and as a stand alone title. The story is generic even without comparing it to the first game. The characters lack depth and are much more one note. The gameplay and music are ok but in a game as story driven as this the weak characters and basic story drag it down severely. Also, trying to force the player to empathise with Abby by playing as her for so long just makes us hate her and the devs more. It completely takes away player control... just like when we were forced to watch Joel's murder through the eyes of a helpless Ellie. Playing as Abby strips the player of any agency in the whole bloody sh*tsh*w of a game. We just take a backseat as boring, forgettable characters die like flies. When the game forces us to make morally reprehensible contributions to these characters deaths, it then delights in chastising us later because ReVeNgE iS bAd. The other main feature of TLOU2 is love triangles that don't add anything to the game. The sheer amount of focus given to these in the game's narrative feels out of place against the backdrop of an apocalypse, especially given neither is concluded before - you guessed it - one or more constituents of those pathetic triangles are killed. Throw all of this together with a convoluted and anti climatic ending, and you have TLOU2.… Expand

The wind is howling and the the bleak sun light is touches through the window. This is how I feel playing the game. Despite some of the most adrenaline inducing combat scenes you encounter. This game still has a soul. And it invites player for a journey. A journey of your soul. Deep in to your mind, your past and future. Without going in too much detail. This game during the all playtime will change gears. And you have to uube prepared. Some motivations of different characters, story bits, even gameplay sections you may not like. Make sense at the end. So only one thing left for you is tiny hope, like that bleak sunlight in the old abandoned house.… Expand

    Thanks, I hate it. Naughty Dog was a favorite game developer of mine for a long time but I feel like my trust in them has been shattered. I feel that they delivered nothing but false hope, lies, and political propaganda instead of a good, playable game. Thanks, but no thanks. I'll give my money to Rockstar and Square Enix from now on.

    Well it didn't suck The game was a emotional rollercoaster from wanting to Abby burn in hell . To the end where u are just screaming stop fighting.

    This game should've could've would've been better. But they decided to make it the worst way ever. It sickens me to see or think about the plot, they got what they want. And definitely will be remembered for a long time in game history.

    This game isn't fun. It's pushing a political agenda at you at all times and it's completely distracting. And as a story-based game, if the story is terrible, then what's left? Give this a pass, I regret putting money and time into this game.

    The Last of Us Part 2 tries to be Game of Thrones with all the Character Killing but does not even give the chance to redeem them or even give their deaths meaning. If you are a fan of the first one, this is a pass. Ignore this ever happened. If you haven't then maybe give it a try. Nothing else to say really...

    The people rating this game so low have clearly never even played it. After 30+ hours and the story completed, I can safely say this is one of the greatest games I’ve ever played and easily amongst the best on this generation of console.

    They bait and switched in one of the trailers making you believe with Joel being replaced by another character.
    And don't even get me started on the nonsensical murder of Joel, which clearly comes from a delusional developer that hated the character so bad to the point of self inserting himself in the game just to spit on Joel's dead body. Yes, I'm talking about Neil Druckmann.
    Abby is an unlikable character in which I'm forced to play during a big part of the game. It was so tedious, boring and uninspiring.

    And what about Ellie, all that thirst for revenge just disappears at the end when she decided to spare Abby, even if it costed her some of her friends and two of her fingers. Absolutely ridiculous.

    There's so much political correctness and a clear agenda of his creator trying to pander to minorities and liberals.


    Also, there's no multiplayer either. What were they thinking

    All these years for nothing, what an total disappointment. Such and unforgettable experience. I'm never supporting Naughty Dog or anything made by this hack of a developer ever again.

    Most visually striking game outside PC. Combat is better than original, adding dodge, jump, and prone. Dialogue, music, and story all build on and improve on TLOU.

    Don't let all the butthurt snowflakes deter you. It's a masterpiece plain and simple. If only it were the other way around and Ellie died and Joel got revenge for her, then all these self-loathing women-hating basement-dwellers would be prematurely cumming on their waifus.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I've never had a game challenge my desire to move forward more and yet keep me engaged wanting more at the same time. I found myself dreading moving forward because of the character's decisions that I know are not morally right, but I get it and move forward. The entire game is about the revolving circle of revenge and how nobody wins when seeking revenge.

    My biggest gripe with the game was the super slow beginning, but once the big change happens in the story when you get a new POV, is when the game really picks up.

    I found myself liking the Abby character and her story, here internal moral dilemmas, and her external moral dilemmas, more than Ellie's, which I think has turned a lot of people off of the game, but refused to even give the game a chance to make you care about the new characters.

    As for people who are being transphobic because of the inclusion of a Trans Character, the story doesn't even try to ram anything down your throat, but it does give a glimpse at someone's struggle as a trans person. But if you want to deprive yourself of this great story because you're worried about your transphobia, your really doing yourself a disservice, but you probably don't deserve this experiance.    … Expand

No idea why it got hate, it’s one of the best games on the PS4 (maybe the best). Possibly people don’t like non-cookie cutter stories but this felt more real than anything the first one ever did. In the end you’re supposed to be left seeing that there’s always another side to the story and people/things aren’t just black and white, or good and evil. And sometimes things don’t just get wrapped up in a little bow for you. Especially in a world as grim as the one in the game. The game played this all out beautifully. Beyond that, the gameplay, mechanics, etc were also a lot better and more enjoyable. 10/10.… Expand

    I didn't know what I was expecting with the last of us 2. But holy mackerel this is a raw ride with very big emotional swings. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll be impressed by a lot of bold decisions. I really like the risks in story telling, and the story. You don't always get to pick the way a story plays out as much as you'd like it to. Well done naughty dog, you took risks and I'm gladI didn't know what I was expecting with the last of us 2.     This is the best story-based game I ever played. During gameplay I felt emotionally invested, absolutely mesmerised by character building and story twisting. DO NOT LISTEN TO BAD OPINIONS - you can feel conservative butthurt from miles away from negative grades here, especially from people that spent couple of hours on the game and then threw up their precious opinion here.

    It's weird seeing the critics scores so high compared to users. Unfortunatley many critics can be bought off, and try to trick us into purchasing a bad game. I think if Naughty Dogs whole purpose was to subvert our expectations, then I think they were successful. But besides subverting our expectations, they should be putting out a good game. Unfortunately if you were a fan of the firstIt's weird seeing the critics scores so high compared to users. Unfortunatley many critics can be bought off, and try to trick us into purchasing a bad game. I think if Naughty Dogs whole purpose was to subvert our expectations, then I think they were successful. But besides subverting our expectations, they should be putting out a good game. Unfortunately if you were a fan of the first story, the second story isn't for you - it's for a specific subset of people and mostly unenjoyable. Maybe they could make it up with gameplay? No, it plays like a game that came out 10 years ago compared to other modern games. I wish Naughty Dog would have just made a part 2, rather than an agenda filled mess.     This is no hero game. There is no 'good vs evil'. It's about humanity in its most desperate of times and what people are capable of doing when pushed to their limits with their emotions and minds. Outside of the marmite story, the rest of the game is at the top of its class in all other areas, so giving it a low score because of the story feels like a disservice to all of the hard work the developers have put in to create such a wonderful masterpiece of a world that feels eerily real.

    I for one LOVED the story. Without spoiling anything, the game takes an interesting narrative direction during the game, which I have seen no other game do and while some people don't like this, I think it's brilliant. It really makes you focus on the core themes the story is dealing with and makes you question your own morality.    … Expand

But it felt as hallow, and dumb as a blockbuster action movie. They really tried to replace Joel with Abby and it did not land with me. I really disliked more then half of this game. А также тех, кто угрожал актрисе, которая исполнила роль Эбби. Становится стыдно за этих людей, за их слова и действия. Не к такому современное цивилизованное общество должно стремиться.

I usually hate modern stealth games but the mechanics here are pretty good and doing challenge runs has been very fun and rewarding.     I thought it was impossible to out-do the first game but they did it. It has its flaws (like everything and every human in life) but it’s a masterpiece. Story, emotion, level-design, gameplay and atmosphere-wise Naughty Dog have outdone themselves! This is one of the biggest achievements in gaming history. Masterpiece.

    Finally a game that explore deep subjects. Well written. Gameplay is fantastic, but a bit hard at normal due to the fact that they don't give you a lot of bullets. Nonetheless, good successor to the Part 1. I can't wait to see where they bring this franchise next.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is one of the most disappointing sequels in the history of games. While it's one of the most technically beautiful games of the generation and the gameplay is solid, the story and narrative absolutely kills everything the game has to offer.

    The gameplay is improved from the original game. Proning is now an option and makes stealth segments more engaging and the AI is competent enough to give tension. The musical score is great, the visuals are spectacular (some of the best of this generation) and the voice cast is pitch perfect with their performances.

    But all of that falls flat on it's face because of the story. Every single thing aspect of this game's story is a poorly told mess that is meant to throw players for a loop, but it fails horribly due to the leaps you have to take. The original characters from the first game act so out of character, they may as well be different people altogether. Ellie in particular is taken from likable to unlikable, Joel is nowhere near as clever as he was in the original and by the end, Tommy is so out of character, it's jarring.

    Then there are the new characters who are all failures except for Jesse. Abby is one of the most unlikable characters I've seen in a game and almost everything wrong with the story can be attributed to it's focus on her and how said focus is. It tries too hard to make you sympathize with her after she kills Joel that it comes off laughable and you don't buy it.

    Everything about this game is a contradiction. Even the gameplay improvements mean nothing when the story is making you feel bad for doing the things you do in-game. The message of "revenge is bad" only seems to apply to Ellie because Abby walks away alive for the same reason Ellie lost everything. With Abby it's ok, with Ellie it's not. Why? It makes no sense at all and gives conflicting ideologies within it's plot.

    And the way it retcons the ending of the original game actually makes Joel more sympathetic with what he did despite the game desperately trying to portray him as a monster. It really feels like the game has no idea what it wants to do. The best moments in the story are the flashbacks between Joel and Ellie because apparently that's where the game remembers that the best thing about the original game was the dynamic between the two.

    The Last of Us Part II is an absolutely jumbled mess that literally falls and disassembles because of how much the story implodes in on itself. As stated, not even the gameplay feels satisfying because the game wants you to feel bad for what you are doing. So if the gameplay is supposed to make you feel miserable and the story is a terribly told and jumbled mess that has no idea what it wants to do filled with nothing but irredeemable and unlikable characters with the only good ones dying at the hands of Abby, what am I supposed to enjoy?

    I really don't recommend playing this game, especially if you've played the original. Just because the writing can be considered "bold" or "ambitious" does not absolve you of criticism if it is done poorly. Bold and ambitious both involve taking risks, and it's a risk that did not pay off at all with this game.    … Expand

I bought my first console ever i.e. a PS3 and I played the game, i ended it and it spoke to me on levels which no other video game did. I connected to the game to the characters. To Joel, Ellie, Tess, Henry, His brother, Tommy and so many other beautiful characters.

    I bought my first PS4 in the summer of 2016 and ended the game again. I still remember when I saw the first trailer for the The Last of Us Part II I had goosebumps all over my body and I was in a state of shock.

    I was excited ever since the game's 1st trailer was shown in PSX 2016. I was so much excited to play this game.

    Fast forward Friday night 19th June, 2020 I played the game and seeing Joel die was just so much painful. I was expecting that they will kill him off but I didn't expect he will die so badly. Seeing him dead made me really sad. I cried for a longtime and well I hated Abby.

    Playing this game was one of the most complex and meaningful gaming experiences ever. The game affects you emotionally so much and teaches you the small things in your life which we all take for granted.

    I admit playing with Abby even till the end I was so pissed that why the hell am I playing with this woman but going towards the end, everything made sense. I started bring the pieces together and connecting the dots.

    What Joel did, it was justified to save Ellie but what Abby did to him was also justified. The game told me that "revenge" has no meaning in life, no matter how much we hate when someone wrong us, revenge is just never worth it.

    First game told me that how even during the pandemic humans can be cruel and be animals to each other. But the 2nd part told me that it is up-to us to decide who we wanna be. To live and let others live too. Forgive and forget.

    The ending broke me from inside out, even though Ellie forgave Abby at the end, but in her quest for revenge she lost Dina when she begged for her to stay. At the end she lost her too, the last piece of puzzle who could keep her happy or give her sanity.

    When I ended this game I was so sad that I went to bed, hugged my wife and slept like a baby. The game tells us not to take the little things in our life for granted. Our parents, our wife/husband/spouse, children, job, lifestyle anything for granted.

    it is very important to stay connected to your loved ones and cherish every moment till the very last breath.

    I honestly recommend this game to everyone who owns a PlayStation 4. Don’t trust anybody else’s views or criticism. Play yourself and decide yourself.

    Once again Naughty Dog, LLC does what it does best. Make games which are audacious, beautiful and empowering.    … Expand

In no way do would I want or expect Joel to be killed off from the story the way he was (trying to not include too many spoilers). Ellie's story of revenge tour to then have it change at the end is piss poor story writing in my opinion as well. Also, the whole trying to force me liking Abby is piss poor story writing as well. I honestly wish this game's story and plot could be completely rewritten by different people. I don't mind that Joel dies or if you even want to include Abby play-through in the game still but it needs a total rework in my opinion.… Expand

It's a long and exhausting journey, and so very worth it if you leave your assumptions at the door.

    It's not a game for everyone - as the reviews seem to show - but if you enjoy emotional and moral challenges and don't see everything in black and white, then I can wholeheartedly recommend it.

    The graphics and gameplay are both improved over the original, with some truly spectacular visuals and very involving set-pieces.

    It does suffer from some of the same issues the first one had, however. A few fights (especially with the infected) rely a bit too much on getting lucky or trial-and-erroring your way through the environment, and there is one boss fight which can be frustrating until you find the right place to fight it. There are also one or two flashback sections which might have been worked better at different points in the overall narrative, but given how ambitious the storytelling is, I can forgive this.

    If you loved the first one and can go into the second with an equally open mind, then you'll love this. Just be prepared to be made uncomfortable by some parts of the game - they do pay off but you're going to come out of this game with very different emotions than you did with the first one.    … Expand

    Amazing graphics, characters and storyline. I really don’t get what other people are saying. The story is all about very human reactions. I love the way they try to show you that. You really have to play the game all the way to the end to see this.

    К минусам так же добавлю продолжительность. К сожалению, геймплейная формула не предусматривает большой разнообразности и к концу пресловутые "арены" пробегал. Ибо надоело.
    В общем, как вывод. огромный респект команде разработчиков за столь шикарный и вылизаный продукт. Нилу Дракману же не помешало бы задуматься о способе подаче сюжета и вырезанию ненужной графомании.    … Expand

A ten doesn’t mean a game is completely flawless but it recognizes it as a monumental achievement, which the last of us part two absolutely is. Please play this game it’s worth your time and the leaks are not representative of the whole plot!

Не думаю, что стоит вообще упоминать качество исполнения арта и анимаций, потому что это просто потрясно. Весь тот максимум, который можно было выжать из текущего поколения, показан в игре. При этом правда видны ограничения по железу (одинаковые враги, схожесть анимаций и прочее), но на фоне остальной проработки они честно кажутся мелочью. Сам же игровой процесс не стал сильно глубже, он скорее "расширился" за счет более активного стиля Элли и ее умения ползать пластунски. И если это те вещи, которые волновали вас больше всего - то можете смело брать игру, потому что опыт здесь будет не хуже, чем в первой части.
    **SPOILER ALERT**
    А теперь сюжет. Это, очевидно, самая спорная часть игры по двум причинам - во-первых, само построение сценария, когда мы переживаем две параллельные сюжетные линии (протагониста и антагониста) очень нехарактерно для подобных крупных проектов. И основной проблемой здесь становится то, что мы не можем сопереживать двум персонажам сразу. Поэтому для многих вторая половина может показаться ужасно скучной, неинтересной и мерзкой в своем исполнении. Однако, подобный ход все-таки значительно углубляет историю, выводя ее на тему серой морали и невозможности деления мира на черное и белое. Вторая же причина - сама по себе история берет менее цепляющую проблему ненависти и мести (если это сравнивать с проблемой отцов и детей из первой части), а, следовательно, и сама история получается не настолько душевной. Уж если быть начистоту, то (ИМХО) сильных моментов, которые прям резали душу, было буквально два и все они были завязаны на Джоэле.
    Вместо этого же мы получаем очень натуралистическую, жестокую и иногда отталкивающую сюжетную линию, которая описывает нутро людей в постапокалипсисе и их готовность пойти на любые жертвы. И как раз подобные подходы при разработке сценария и могут оттолкнуть большую часть игроков, что вполне логично. Мне же история понравилась, хотя и показалась несколько перетянутой (особенно в части игры за Эбби, которая мне не импонировала как персонаж т.к. я привязан к Элли со времен еще первой части).
    Для тех, кому интересен вопрос ЛГБТ пропаганды - именно пропаганды я не увидел. Да есть персонажи с нетрадиционной ориентацией, да есть упоминание темы самоопределения. Но чего-то, что выбивалось бы из общего мира и создавало ощущение, что ты попал в бар "Голубая устрица", нет.
    Если уж так подытожить, то я не могу физически ставить оценку ниже, т.к. работа аниматоров, левел дизайнеров и художников здесь просто потрясающая, заслуживающая 10. Но спорность самого сценария и его затянутость все-таки говорят о том, что на идеал эта игра не тянет.    … Expand

    What a great and huge game. The only cons for me were flashbacks, an order of some events, problems with pacing, and some weak characters. But when you the game it feels damn good. No regrets. Took me almost 42 hours on survival difficulty which is the best choice to play this game. I don’t know how else you’re gonna feel all the pain and fear of you have 20 billets for every single gun.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

    If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
