First the attention to details in this game is phenomenal, the gameplay feels satisfying ,and the graphics one of the best out there, However all I mentioned was present in the first game ,sure it has improved a lot , but that's technology , we shouldn't judge the game by these aspects but by the story,, The idea is smart ,the execution was horrible , the game is based around characters doing stupid decisions ,2 or 3 bad decisions we might understand but the game is filled with them , the characters are nothing like the ones we've seen in the first game , they lost everything defining them and that is annoying abby is not likeable at all ,,the game failed at making me build any sympathy for her , abby and ellie are both unlikable in this game and this is coming from a fan of the first game , the only one I liked was Joel he did bad stuff but reddemed himself and he was portrayed as this evil monster At the end I felt no progress whatsoever , the abby hours felt boring and annoying and added nothing to the story , the game is all about killing people we spend hours murdering people in cold blood that had nothing to do with abby and were only protecting their land ,, and when one of abby's friends die ellie feels bad for it , it's weird and forced , the only good parts were Joel and ellie's flashbacks , they took everything that made the first game brilliant and just destroyed it Revenge is bad for ellie and good for abby huh ,what a Joke ,,,,,To quote Joel's words "SEE THERE WAS A SEQUEL , ,,WASN'T AS GOOD . I'm giving it 2 because they went too far in order to be politically correct. I don't support homophobic behavior, however I cannot support heterophobic either - just like this game - the only straight white guy gets shot by a black lesbian, that finishes him off in a brutal fashion by smashing his head with a golf stick. The other heterosexual guy also gets killed. The message of the game is "Kill the straight white guys! Only LGBTQ and black lives matter!" Sorry, but I can't support this.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First I will say if you enjoyed the gameplay from the first last of us game then it’s more of the same here. The game has about the best graphics on ps4 next to red dead redemption 2. The gunplay is fast paced and the enemy AI is more smart than last game unless you mess with the accessibility options, the use of the new skill trees are interesting slightly but it’s more of the same as last game you collect supplements for upgrades for both abby and Ellie. So if you enjoyed the last of us 1 gameplay then you will enjoy the gameplay the enemies or infected are a little more intimidating. Where the game goes wrong is it’s story they try to force you to like a character that just is not an enjoyable character not because of the muscles or anything but because they went about the story in the wrong way. I think that if they would have been better off at the very least putting the story in a different order and also gave you a choice at The end of the game but all the characters were so out of character. Joel and Tommy would not have done what they done no matter what they pretty much told abby and her group everything but their blood type. This is where the story fails I had a hard time even finishing the game I played for a good 30 hours and uninstalled the game twice and am trying to trudge the A second play through just for trophies but it’s probably my least favorite naughty dog game of all time.

I’m Asian and the facial models of the Asians in the game are disgusting, they are like people with Down syndrome... Jesse gets shot in the head and no one even bloody cares... Ellie clearly says that she dislikes Jesse because he’s Asian and not because she’s not interested in men. So it’s fine to be racist against Asians? After waiting a long time for a sequel, this game was a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. Part of why I like this game was because of the infected enemies, and in this sequel they barely play any role. The Last of Us is definitely a difficult to follow up on, so I understand a lot of grievances people have with the story, especially with a 7 year buildup to this game's release.

Mechanically, this game is flawless. Every animation is oozing with character and emotion. The sound design is impeccable and you'll find lots of little sounds you never expected to hear but glad you did.

Mechanically, this game is flawless. Every animation is oozing with character and emotion. The sound design is impeccable and you'll find lots of little sounds you never expected to hear but glad you did. Combat is visceral and responsive and the enemy AI is diverse. I look at the quality in disbelief of what they've accomplished and every moment has been a pleasure. When you witness each animation for the first time, you can pick up on little details, like how drawers are lifted slightly as they're pulled out.

The thing most people dislike is the story. They say it falls flat or is too divergent, but I think it takes a bold step into discussing, exploring and representing parts of the human experience that most games/movies/shows miss out on. You explore an entirely destructive experience in which you lose far more than you could imagine as multiple powerful revenge narratives take their course.

The series is founded on tragedy and trauma, so don't expect to find happy endings and silver linings here. While the unconventional act structure leaves a major plot thread hanging for multiple hours, time bounces back and forth seemingly at whim and fleeting characters pass in and out of the story at regular intervals, you come to understand that nothing is as simple as you would to believe it is, and justice cannot be true justice without context and empathy.

Ultimate letdown of a game in the series that people loved and waited for 7 years. No upgrades in gameplay, unnecessary emphasis on LGBTQ, forcing the player to sympathize with the villain of the story, a very dissociated and weak storyline that pampers to a certain group of people, not caring about the real gamers and fans of the series.

Game mechanics are smooth (but there is nothing groundbreaking new in regard to its predecessor), graphics (especially scenery, animations and facial expressions) are absolutely stunning considering the current gen hardware and the story is as brutal and serious like it can be expected in respect to the world and the background of TLOU.
The point of the game is not about liking or for the most part even relating to the playable characters, but about regularly questioning their motives anew and wondering if the price that has to be paid is really worth it.
Part II is a deep game, it is an intellectual demanding and for the most part taxing and bold game. For me it was a great experience and I wouldn't miss it for this world.

This game, in my opinion, is nothing but spectacular. It has what I would say are the best graphics on any video game to date, the lightning is simply gorgeous and the colors really shine. The environments are extremely detailed and feel real, which adds to the game’s realism factor.

Gameplay feels very fluid and responsive, combat is very satisfying and the controls are perfect, much like it’s predecessor. The game gives you all the tools to tackle every situation of danger how you prefer, which makes the outcome more rewarding as well as making the game your own playground to fiddle with. The best part about combat and stealth is that the game, as stated, gives you multiple ways to handle the same objective. That sense of freedom is extremely fun and creates creativity in how you explore your surroundings as well as being strategic with how you play. Looting and exploring never feels boring in this game and sometimes scavenging can create unique dialogues or interestering new scenarios. What I like about The Last of Us Part II is that two people can play this game and have a completely different experience depending on how the choose to play.

Level design is nothing but amazing, each new area that you explore feels refreshing and you can notice how ambitious Naughty Dog is with creating areas that feel and look real. The level design combined with the amazing gameplay makes for a super enjoyable time that you never get tired of. The story is without a doubt the most hated part of the game. That is for the most part due to the leaks that got out a month before the game’s release. Some are not satsified with the way the plot was directed. or that they simply have a hard time caring for the game. Others struggled to really care for the characters or the enviroments due to the way the game was written, which I can understand. Personally however I can say that it is written in a sometimes messy way, but I still feel like the story is one of the best and more touching of video game history. This game was very emotional troughout the entirety of the game and it ended extremely sad. The game makes you feel, and care for Ellie and the people she loves. The ending really broke me emotionally. The story in my opinion was really great and it was so fun and interesting to follow the characters as they go trough an emotional joyride troughout the game’s story. Sometimes the games takes a minute or two to slow down and appricieate the environment or the situation, which I personally love. The Last of Us Part II is ambitious, bold, daring, emotional and powerful. Overall I think the story is great and powerful, and it really make you feel which a good story should.

The reason I give this game a 10 is that it is utterly amazing at all aspects and the amount of fun that I had playing this game makes me even more excited to see what’s next for Naughty Dog. No matter what, I think that this is a project that Neil Druckmann and his team should be extremely proud of, and you can clearly see the ambition and dedication to put out this fantastic game in every corner of it. This is a must play.

Fantastic story and I loved how it gave me a mixture of emotions, which many games fail to achieve nowadays. I am on my third play through and I will play it more in the future I have no doubt. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The story and the visuals were absolutely amazing! I'm sick and tired of everything labeling the game as "Naughty Dog's Downfall" all because of Joel being killed by Abby.

His death was going to come whether we'd like it to or not. He was a bad person, he did bad things. There were people coming after him and he knew that. That's why he already knew Abby had some sort of business with him.

I'm tired of everyone just assuming because Joel is dead, this game is horrible. Characters we love die all the time. Maybe I just have a better understanding of why Joel was killed, or maybe it's because I've played Danganronpa before and I can understand a death that had a bunch of controversies and different opinions on whether that character should have died or not. Or maybe Danganronpa just taught me how to not be a little **** when a main character dies.

There was character growth with Abby when Yara and Lev became apart of the story. She grew as a person and wanted to do nothing but protect those kids. She became like Joel in a way and I think that just really shows how she is as a person.

Some people are complaining about how Ellie wouldn't do what she did, but that's the thing about grieving. It can change you as a person. I've lost my mother-in-law almost two years ago (July 10th) and I'm not the same person I was two years ago. She was like a mother to me, and believe me- I would never actually harm a person. I don't like the idea of killing, but if I were in Ellie shoes- I would absolutely go after my parent's killers. It would change me as a person and I know this.

It really shows the true nature of grieving and the true nature of revenge. Nothing good can come out of revenge, and that was the message they were trying to place in the story.

Also, Abby's "backstory" wasn't there for a literal backstory. It was there to try and show you what kind of person her father was before he was murdered by Joel. That's the only reason on why it was there. To show her process through grieving too and to show why Ellie and Abby were so similar but so different at the same time.

The plot holes are there, I'd admit that- but I think they might have done that on purpose. There's already a discussion about making a part three, so maybe they left those questions unanswered so they're able to answer them later down the road. You never know- Naughty Dog might even post a DLC even though they said they wouldn't. They've done things they said they were going to do before.

All I'm saying is you can't hate or love this game until you give it a try and actually play it. Naughty Dog literally stated you'll either love it or hate it and that there's no in between. So go ahead and just get the game and play through it yourself. Give yourself the chance to experience it and create your own opinion.

This game is a masterpiece. Sure it has an emotionally devastating plot that has fueled a lot of negative reviews, but that’s part of what makes the game so great. Overall it’s a more developed story than the first game with great additional characters and multiple perspectives. Gameplay 10/10 graphics 10/10 story 10/10

Over all this is a movie game and as a movie game the majority of the game should be focused on the story and we all know were that went.

Story-wise there where some fantastic and moving moments, yet also moments where the pacing felt off (story has unusual structure and some bits of the game where nice but could have been left out) or characters decisions didn't feel as though they completely added up from what we knew about them (but aren't too unreasonable and they do have to make a story) plus characters didn't have the same level of chemistry between them that made the 1st game so great. They made a compelling story / narrative about the nature of revenge, characters where able to break out of the cycle though it took a great personal toll on them. I like how these games have used the all too familiar zombie apocalypse setting in a unique way for character based stories, that shine a light on human nature (but not just in the sort of way that only shows how messed up things can get), yet aren't always out for a happy ending. I applaud the devs for being brave and creative and not playing it safe, could have been more polished but keeps it interesting definitely.
In regards to game-play again moments where I was on the edge of my seat, and a well balanced degree of challenge for each difficulty (at least from what I've heard and what I'd expect from normal difficulty), the few boss fights where all really enjoyable, great graphics, sound and decent AI; then times when the world felt big but not interesting enough to want to always explore it, looting felt mandatory as supplies are short, which makes sense but isn't always that fun (it takes ages) but you have to do it for the small chance you find a new weapon to use. Similarly levels where perhaps a little too big, I liked the more open feel but bigger doesn't necessarily equal better. Also they could have added more features to it, plays like the 1st game as there is only 1 type of new zombie and only really the addition of dogs added to the stealth / human fights, on the other hand I liked the combat in the 1st game and wouldn't call it bad just a missed opportunity to do more.
As for the problems others have had, I'll briefly discuss them here. I still found Abby a well written character and her half of the game is still compelling to play, her character arc may even be the better one, people weren't too accepting of a new character/ group but I didn't mind too much. Killing characters in a thought out way shouldn't be a problem especially when the whole idea of the game revolves around it. Killing dogs in a video game when they are trying to kill you also should be fine. They do push a bit of a SJW agenda, for most the game I was fine with it as they didn't break the 4th wall to give a message to the player it was just trying to normalise, gay relationships and buff women (which makes even more sense for one that fights so much), the kids gender preferences where harder to believe, but there is nothing wrong with it, just at this point it felt too coincidental to have all these things together and it took me out of my immersion as it felt the game was pushing something, this can be included but it annoys me when media goes out of its way to spread the message it takes away from the story telling when it is too apparent in my opinion. It also felt a bit unrealistic the girls fell so deeply in love so quickly, but they had known each other a long time perhaps some tweaking would have made it more believable.
As for the reviews on this site: the reviews that give 0-3 out of ten some an hour or so after release are probably from people who care too much and are honing in on anything bad to say. Those that are giving 10's are perhaps tying to balance out the overall score personally I think the reality is somewhere in between. Critic reviews also seem unusually high, if its that they need to write good reviews to get invited back, then this is a shame and would explain why they are so far out from what the community is saying.
TLDR / conclusion: the hype around this game wasn't met up to but I think we had insane expectations too. The game is good and if you where like me a big fan of the original and interested in what happens next then I'd recommended; otherwise it's up to you its no masterpiece but still a decent triple A game which also feels unique, both of which are more of a rarity for games these days so for that it's worth considering if you want something to play for 20-30 hours, and are okay with the price tag (but that is a different debate). For those unsure still playing I'd recommended finishing it as I felt the same near the middle of the game but it does pick up and I was satisfied with the ending but get why others may not be. As a final note this game is violent and dark at times due to the setting and themes it has, if that isn't for you this may not be your cup of tea.

It is pretty ridiculous that so many bad reviews are being given because of Joel’s death, even though he was quite a controversial character himself and, come on, that’s 20+ years of a post-apocalyptic world were vengeance is the norm.
Concluding this story in such a bitter way, but yet seeing Ellie and Abby finally breaking the cycle of vengeance... that’s superb storytelling!

Also the gameplay is great, it's smooth and visceral with enough utility and open level design that in my second playthrough, each encounter is totally different, I'm even finding whole new areas and encounters despite exploring pretty thoroughly the first time round.
It's not perfect, there's the odd pacing issue and one or two plot contrivance but those are easily overlooked and no more egregious than what you'd find in most movies/shows/games. It's an incredible, daring piece of work from a group of artists, sound designers, actors, animators etc all at the top of their game. It's a story that feels like it could only be told in a game. Better than the original, this is probably my favourite video game of all time.

I understand the motives of Abby, but I still don't like her as much as I like Ellie. I didn't like the fact that I had to play so mucho time with Abby.
For me Ellie kill people because of self defense except for Nora, but Abby dedicated the last 4-5 years to became a killing machine, you can see that she actually enjoy killing when she almost kills Dina and Ellie has a panic attack.
To be honest, I really want to know or if possible that Ellie and Dina are back together, because we know that Abby and Lev have a "happy ending" joining the fireflies but what about Ellie? She deserve a happy ending, she starts to heal and she can earn Dina's trust again.

    So, my final grade is:

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us Parte 2 es la última entrega de Naughty Dog, y a pesar de su poco tiempo en el mercado una de las más grandes.
Lanzado el 19 de junio de 2020, The Last of Us 2 a causado mucha controversia entre los usuarios y la prensa con su impactante historia y narrativa.

    Historia y Narrativa:
