    This game is an absolute waste of time and money. Terrible story and terrible new uninteresting characters. It's a disgrace for the first game that came out 7 years ago.

The graphics are great aswell as the attention to detail, gameplay is nice because it innovates from the first but doesn’t stray to far from the original but I think the story was disappointing. If you started with Abby’s sections and Ellie and Joel flashbacks the game could of been better then but I couldn’t sympathise with Abby because it’s depicts her as the villain but then ten switches her to the victim it doesn’t move me. I’m fine with Ellie and Dina being lesbians and Lev being exiled actually fells like that would happen with a cult but it just doesn’t make me feel like I should care for some deaths like Jesse, Owen or anyone else because there isn’t enough time with them to fully develop with me.… Expand

    This game is such a wonderful game. It's the most enjoyable game I had ever play. Those who are upset about the story or characters development or those who want a game with a total separation with bad and good characters. Need to watch a Marvel movie instead of playing this game. You dont deserve it ;)

    One of the best, if not the best game i ever played. Graphics, gameplay, voice acting, story, everything is done perfectly. Naughy Dog have done the impossible: A sequel that managed to be better than its already amazing first game. Bravo, Naughy Dog.

    Please ignore the review bombers. If TLOU 2 isn't a 'good' game then I really don't know what a good game is. I do understand *some* of the hate, even though I think a very small amount of it comes from people who have actually played through the game.

    The story skips back and forth a lot, to the point where the end product feels a little jumbled. And the pacing in the first half isn't great, I was starting to get a little bored before the story dramatically changes gears. And while I don't particularly agree with the notion that the game didn't add enough onto the first game mechanics wise, I can understand that some people may have been wanting more new upgrades and weapons then they got. For the most part the game sticks with the same upgrades that were introduced in the first game.

    But simply put, I can't think of many revenge stories better told than this one is. Certainly one has never taken advantage of a video game as a storytelling device more effectively. In its opening hours, the game gives you incredibly strong motivation to hunt and hurt the villians of the story. Over the course of this 30ish hour game however, the lust for revenge and violence ebbs away as you become emotionally invested in the people that are dotted throughout a story, and you see how much this journey takes from the people undertaking it. More harrowingly, Naughty Dog continually build the people in this journey up as likeable, human characters, and then tear them away from you in normally senseless and brutal ways; that's the world this game is set in.

    People who say this story sucks might have missed the point of the first game, or simply take issue with the more progressive plot points in the game whether they realise it or not. But every moment in this game is so carefully crafted to lend itself to the story, and the acting and animation of everyone in both the cutscenes and the gameplay is beyond incredible. The small comments characters make to themselves or each other which normally mirror what you're thinking continually align yourself with who you're playing as. The high level of quality over everything is so much more than just gud graphics. It's the work of a studio completely devoted to creating an experience where every encounter adds more onto your understanding of these characters as people.

    This game should make you incredibly uncomfortable, which I think is the strongest valid reason to not enjoy it. But it should make you feel uncomfortable because you're a human being, and it's hard to watch what these human beings are capable of doing to each other. For that and all the reasons above, is why I think this game has been an incredible way to cap off this console generation. The controversy will die down as people find other things to complain about, but this game is going to be long remembered as the incredible technical and creative feat that it is.    … Expand

    The story is continued with weak motivation and logic. The genre in itself is understandably unforgiving and vicious but they failed to deliver it the way they did in the part 1. This is the output of a twisted mind, although the message they tried to put out is insightful they utterly failed to represent it in a noble way and thats what hurt the most gamer's sentimental value they had for the game.

    It was a traumatic experience for me, I didn't wish to continue after 2 hours into the game. My disappointment is immeasurable to discern after waiting for 5 years! I wish I could undo/unsee what I witnessed.

    Unfortunately the main reasons why I didn't enjoy this game are:
    1- complete false advertising on representation of the game, they make ubelieve that joe was going to be an imñortant character during, at least, a big portion of the game.
    2- i don't see a game here, just an interactive movie with a very noticeaboe agenda to cover

But of course, like all games, not everyone will enjoy It, but my advise is to not believe in critics or players, and just play it for yourself and give a chance for the game, and make your opinion by yourself.

    One of the best titles ruined by a self-absorbed producer who is not as talented as he think he is. Fair enough most aspects of the game are great, but the problem is it's called the last of us part 2 and the fact that the plot is so bad and full of retarded holes is simply unacceptable.     The game is a slow burn, some may not like that, worked for me, really enjoyed the quiet moments looting shops in the rain. Good length, thought it was gonna end twice but it just kept going. Sound and Graphics are crazy good for PS4 Hard to say much    I thought the game was fun.

    I love TLOU1 because of the story, its characters and the narrative. I thought it was amazingly well done.     But after analyzing the game a lot, playing it for a second time and watching a lot of reactions by different streamers online, I do think the game and the story do deliver it just that the direction that took is not what many of us wanted.
    But I can not call it bad. In my opinion it is really good, and I think it's worth playing and having the experience for yourself, it's dark, it's vengeful and immersive. However, it is harsh when it comes around the last game and if you do love the last game (just like I do) there is a big possibility you don't like the story.

    The way they handled the plot was perfect and no matter what ,the story made sense. The way they made us understand why abby did what she did and actually sympathize with her and just wanted for her to settle and be happy.
    Ellie had a great character development at the end in which she doesn't kill abby for killing joel and understood that abby had to do what she had to do. And just like the first one it got me feeling empty when i finished playing it. So thank you naughy dog for this masterpiece. I highly recommend that you reflect back and understand the story rather than just hating it.    … Expand

This is objectively one of the best games ever made, in terms of graphics, design in every possible way, gameplay, and story.     Thank you personally to Druckmann that my 7 years of waiting were in vain. Great picture, but the gameplay is not for the 30 hour game. It’s better to keep silent about the plot. It is a pity that such an excellent work of animators and artists will be remembered for such a dull game

I was emersed in the world of a post-apocalyptic fungal dystopia full of smugglers, fireflies, infected, Joel, and Ellie. It seems most of the people disappointed with the game are mad at the story of Abby and how to player is forced to play as her and to hunt down Ellie. I honestly dont know why more games do not use this format. A game that forces you to take on both sides to the point where there isn't really a defined protagonist vs antagonist, but instead two conflicting protagonists is unique and hard to accomplish. I heard there were spoilers and leaks before the game came out but I decided to avoid them like the plague. I scrolled social media and reddit with blinders and quickly clicked away from anything related to this game. Im so damn glad I did. I just went on an emotional rollercoaster that gave me a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach in all the right ways.… Expand

    Really enjoyed the story and gameplay. The stress and anxiety you feel with the characters motives and decisions really left me thinking. I was always eager to get back to the dark story that was being told. There were parts that felt a little long and I just wanted to get to the next plot point, but looking back I do appreciate the frustration you feel with all the roadblocks that get inReally enjoyed the story and gameplay. But also recognize that this cycle of violence as the director calls it is dangerous and painful, and watching that pain brought the tears from my eyes in ways that until now, I thought only movies or other art expressions could achieve, this game also pushes the graphics in a way that makes the first game look way behind, it’s delightful to see the green in the plants and also watch the infected with more detail, a fact that makes them look grotesque particularly one new type of infected which I have to say caused me a total shock to watch, a true abomination. The parallelisms made by the studio with some of the present situations in our society is something that can’t be overlooked, even in these post-apocalyptic world there still exists intolerance and the labels to those who are “different” although is certainly pleasing to see how some stand against it, this game for me, made me look and review the word empathy in a way that I never thought possible, if we consider that it is putting yourself in the shoes of the other, believe me, this games does it, good or bad are just labels in a world where each one of us are mirrors, and the pursuit of justice takes a new scope in this game. In a nutshell, you have to play this game, I believe I’m not exaggerating when I say this game truly proves that video games have the capacity to be works of art but more importantly, they provoke emotions both pleasant and unpleasant.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The story of this game is a hard hitting one. It takes dark and horrific turns. Characters are humanised and dehumanised, even your enemies have names.

    The Last of Us 2 is a story of how Abby went from a toxic, vengeful individual to somebody with purpose and a heart, who felt empathy for others and truly realised that every side is capable of being evil, or good.

    On the flip side, it's a story of how Ellie goes from an already fairly broken person to a vengeful, toxic mess. It's almost like she and Abby swap places.

    But I do think that Joel definitely had to die - he was going to. Ellie may have never viewed it that way (You can tell how selfish she is when she's telling him "you took that from me" rather than "you brought me to these people, then murdered them all"), but he was far from perfect, far from a good person, and it was inevitable that his past would catch up to him. By the end Ellie was worse than he was, by a significant margin. If you're attached to Ellie and Joel especially, you'll struggle with this game. If you struggle with empathy chances are you'll hate it.

    Dina is a gem of a character and a bastion of patience, Lev was amazing and really lent to the development of Abby, who definitely had the better arc as a human being. Those environments though, absolutely stunning - that situational environmental design and attention to detail is unrivalled. I'd love to see a sequel from the perspective of Lev and Abby, I think that'd be pretty awesome.    … Expand

    The story and characters are not for the feint of heart. It is an emotional ride and I think really hits you in emotional ways I haven't felt in a game, even the first one. You knew she was a lesbian in the Left Behind DLC from the first game, and it doesn't add or detract from the game honestly, it's just how it is.

    The level design and gameplay is top notch. The story went in a different direction than the first one but it was on point, script was great, the decisions and how it all plays it out is really well done and even if you don't agree with the direction it went I just think it's great story-telling either way.

    If you play it you will be entertained, and mad, and sad, and happy, and everything in between. I don't know why these idiots all got together to **** on an amazing game and easily GOTY, but I guess that's what you get sometimes.

Most people seem to don't like it because either they don't understand the story and its moral message or because of personal reasons (homophobia, hates strong women et.). This is very sad because when you expect to not like something you won't like it for sure.
    In most games you kill one person after the other and the game gives you some kind of feeling that you achieved something good but to reach the goal you murdered thousands of people and no one cares (Uncharted, Tomb Raider etc.) It's the same with Ellies first Part of the story. But what makes TLOU II a masterpiece is the change in point of view to Abby. We see her love to her father, her fear of heights, the death of her friends and comrades, a pointless war against a misguided cult and later on her choosing to save two children from all of it and after all her moral superiority when she decides to let Ellie and pregnant Dina live. The evil killer that murdered Joel became human, every killing (even the dogs) and all the brutality is viewed from another point and is reflected. The message is clear: revange does not only takes so many lifes, it leads to a never seeming to end cycle which ruins the lifes of both Abby and Ellie particularly shown in their fight on the beach. Abby tried to end this before, showed mercy and got out of everything with the little boy at the end. But Ellie who couldn't forget her hatred and went again for revange lost everything: Dina and the child, the farm and very important her fingers. Without them it's impossible for her playing guitar which is the central connection between her and Joel, loosing this ability means all the hate and revange only led to loosing Joel in a way...
    I am very gratefull to have been able to play this outstanding masterpiece! This story was on a completly other level not to mention the unbelievable graphics, the on-point gameplay, the love for detail, not one but two amazing female main characters and as I have heard overwhelming accessibility options. I really hope Naughty Dog is going for a third part in which they conclude the story, either Ellie dies and all hope for humanity is lost or they find a vaccination. This is a story about what hate and revenge does to people and ironically the people who were hating this game are the ones who got the harm because they couldn't go through this experience.    … Expand

I will say that this game has ok gameplay, but why did we love the first game so much? We loved it for the excellent storytelling, the complexities of the characters, and the developing relationship between them. This game took everything we love about the first one and threw it in the toilet. Or rather, bashed it's brains in with a golfclub. Druckmann doesn't want to acknowledge this, instead chalking it up to people being misogynistic homophobes. What a joke.… Expand

    It’s clear that any person rating this game as bad has a huge problem with Naughty Dog «pushing their agenda» - no they’re not, the characters are simply existing. That aside - engaging game that I wasn’t able to put down and am sad is over. Great job!

The combat was fresh and expansive compared to the first game, the storytelling was unique and kept me going, and overall, a great package of a game. I still love the first game, but for different reasons. This game is a lot darker than the first one. Still great, try playing it for yourself instead of just regurgitating talking points online.

    Naughty Dog keep out doing themselves, The Last of Us Part 2 will be remembered as a unique and terrifying masterpiece. Just like the name says, "It's the last of them" it was just a rollercoaster of emotions for me. Hopefully, we'll get part 3 in the future.

    A masterpiece, people are to used to their ''heroes'' being immortal, but the last of us part 2 shows us how life can be cruel and hard, and this time we see things from a different perspective, if you are a mature and open minded person you can easily enjoy this game, otherwise stick to your marvel heroes game.

    Unfairly bombarded with bad reviews; you’ll notice they all sound like whining children. A stunning story and game deserving of GOTY.

    Loved TLOU and loved TLOU2 even more. Highly recommend playing in its entirety. It’s absolutely insane to me how butthurt these boys are that the world is not as black and white as they want it to be.

You’re telling me Ellie tortures Nora and gets about 5 tactical nukes from killing all those **** scars and wolfs but at the end, the person that she killed everyone for gets to live. The message at the end was supposed to be “revenge is bad” but it’s not a good message considering all you do in this game is kill ****ers. I’m literally never gonna play this game again in my life, I’ve played the first one about 6 times and I could still go back to it and have a blast.     This game is a slap in the face to everyone that loved the first game. Do not buy this and save your money. The truth and context of this game is much worse than the leaks. The gameplay is very average in today's modern gaming generation. There are minor improvements from the first game and enemy AI is dumb as ever. There are more cut scenes and walking than actual gameplay.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
