    The last of us part 2 is a hilarious attempt at a video game. Outdated and clunky gameplay with fantastic graphics. The story tries to make the player feel bad for killing people in a post apocalyptic world where it’s kill or be killed by blatant manipulation. Spend your money elsewhere and don’t buy this awful "video game" that can barely be qualified as one

The gameplay is fine if not excellent, but the story ruined the entire experience for me. I have never bothered to review a game on metacritic before, but i feel like i need to let the developers and writers of this game know they **** it up big time. If you unlike me can look past the butchering of beloved characters, then by all means buy this game for the great gameplay. If however, you cared about Joel and Ellie from the first game, then play the remastered edition again and give this game the middle finger. Subverting expectations is not a great storytelling tool and the writers of this game should be ashamed.… Expand

    False advertising, very bad story, same game mechanics from the first game, cover songs taken without credit, self inserts from the game director, graphical downgrade, need I say more? Yeah it's playable but why would you bother playing this anyway.

    An absolute character assassination. The decisions Ellie, Joel and Tommy make completely out of character just for that sake of driving this petty plot forward.
    Though the graphics, acting and overall detail on this game are the best there is, gameplay feels the same as it's predecessor that came out 7 years ago.

    The gameplay is not bad, but the plot... This is just disgusting! I love the first part of The Last of Us, it's beautiful, the plot is great! But here's the second part... it's not just disgusting, it's a disgrace! You just destroyed everything good that was in the first part!

    No, this is not better than the first one, even if the game system is good (still feels crappy like RE6) the ducking story, and the characters, you would be better not paying for this, get a bag of Doritos, it will last longer and will be way better

This is a game hatefully crafted in order to disgust and dismay all fans of the original game by killing a beloved original character in an absolutely ridiculous fashion and then forcing the player to play as the murderer of what was probably one of their favorite characters from the first game.

    DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!!! It is a relentlessly bleak and depressing hate-letter to America, to gamers, and to fans of the first game. Go spend your money on something fun and entertaining rather than this preachy, hamhanded woke trash.     the story is nonsensical at best, pretentious at worst and the self-insertion of the director is absurd. they try to paint it as a "revolutionizing, groundbreaking, grown up experience" but end it up looking like a pretentious, unoriginal movie that try, and fail, to copy what other games did 15 years ago.

This is clearly a cash grab by Naughty Dog.     Despite the outstanding gameplay and graphics, this game was made for snowflackes SJW's.
    Naughty Dog forced us to pay attention in the LGBT/ Gender Ideology themes than make a good story.
    The ending is also a lame and wrong way to finish the playthrough.

    This game is a failure on a massive scale. The gaphics are great, the gameplay is mediocre and the story is a disgrace to the franchise. Neil Druckman single handedly has destroyed the legacy of the first game and its beloved characters and story. AVOID at all costs, don't give money to hacks.

    Being a linear game, here if the story matters more than the graphics, although the setting is spectacular, the game is horrible in terms of history, I don't know what they tried to do.

The 2020 game doesnt even give you a choice of anything .Like literally it is so tunnel, it will look like i put the worst rating because of the Joel death but its not, why do I need to play for the character that I hate?Why i cant just kill Abby lol there is even no bad ending for this charachter, like in Detroit it so flexible. Thats everything because of the Anita thanks for the ruined game.     It's a good game, but not a TLOU.
    -This is terrible writen, there's alot of contradictions and plays with fake scenes that we're showned in the trailers so you can earn more money.
    -It's a waste of potential, 'cuz the graphics, mechanics, and flashbacks are well maded, it's a shame, cuz with the same resourses, and the same characters you've could done a well MADED WRITEN story.

    First of all, I'd like to get the easy part out of the way: this game is a technical marvel. The graphics are superb, the sound is masterful, the acting is next level and beyond. The production value blurs the lines between gaming and cinema, but unfortunately, the story and characters don't live up to the standards set by the first game, nor the incredible technical effort present in this one.

    Gameplay is much smoother than the original, but does not add enough to revolutionize the genre. Level design can feel repetitive, even when you're in different areas. The walking and the conversations are nice, but they out stay their welcome at times. The game is not difficult, and it's about as long as the the average single player games; 25 hours. The story is told from different perspectives to make an obvious point ; conflicts in the form of vengeance may consume people and outlast them. The main characters are single minded and their negative emotions leave no room for growth or development throughout the journey. They are charged with destructive emotions that ultimately lead them to lose everything, making the characters and the player feel empty because of how tragically primitive their world has become. Violence and bloodshed are detailed and magnified in a disturbing manner which only show us how far humans have strayed from values and civilization. Sadly, it all makes it a world not worth visiting and the characters do not merit our company.

    It is a regrettable that the second game couldn't push storytelling like the original did. But it did push the technical aspect and I wish it is enough, but it is the one aspect that will be overshadowed by future games with better technology.    … Expand

    I played 6 hours and there's nothing I can honestly compliment. Repeating tragedies, marketing lies regarding story, a genuine lack of interactivity with the VIDEO GAME and no real reason to stay engaged with the plot or the little gameplay there is.

    I'm almost positive whoever wrote the first Last of Us ( A Masterpiece) did not contribute much to this story. In the first game we got a masterpiece about a man connecting with another lost soul who symbolically took the place of his daughter. In the last of us 2 (no spoilers) left me feeling like the protagonist from "The last of us" should have handed Ellie over to government researchers instead of allowing her character to become a cheap version of a HBO breast exposing movie character from the 1990s designed to appeal to the 2020 kink audience.

    Gameplay 2/10
    The game plays like an out of date cinematic title similar to what going back and replaying Resident Evil (The original) feels like in the current year, albeit slightly Better.

    Originality 4/10
    The game tried a new take on the genre focusing more heavily on the intimate relationships of oppressed minorities in a post apocalyptic genre. I'll give it some points for trying but it was poorly executed, although it was an original take.

    Overall 2/10
    The flaws cannot be overlooked, I found myself wanting to put the game away after 2 hours. I only completed it so I could give it a fair review. Games like this are why progressive themes are hated in games. Not because of the message, but because of the poor execution and unrealistic portrayal of stereotypes instead of living breathing humans as characters.

Joel is nothing but a lamb sacrifice for a plot that’s been overused in entertainment media: revenge. His death, in my opinion was not at all emotional (not in a good way at least), it was just shocking for the sake of shock value. In the first game, not even 20 minutes into it, you were already crying when Sarah died like she was your own daughter when you didn’t even know who she was 10-20 minutes before. Unfortunately that masterful writing skill does not exist in this game as Joel’s death does nothing but anger you at how poorly handled his death scene was. Clearly not understanding what made the first game great, naughty dog introduces a new character (abby) to replace joel. Right off the bat replacing either joel or ellie In a story that revolves around them and is successful because of them is already near impossible. So bringing a new character that mutilates the main character of the first game isn’t great way to get us invested into abby. Of course naughty dog tried real hard to get you to see abby’s perspective yet, in my honest opinion, did not succeed. To top it off do not expect Joel’s death to pay off in this game as LITERALLY every character involved in his death was either killed in a quick time event or cutscene EXCEPT for abby, because ellie, after murdering everybody, finally decided it was not worth it anymore… Expand

In this game the controls are the same but the story is so bad that if these characters die I would not feel a thing. The simple puzzles from the last game have become even more easy.     I saw the leaks when it all came out, I tried to avoid this game after it happened but as a big fan of the first game (which I considered my fav game/all time) I hoped the game wasn't going to be just that. When I finish the game on the first Monday after it's release, I felt broken. I couldn't stop crying thinking about the hell of a journey I just testified. The writers of this game are very brave and courage to do what they've done, and they should be proud of it. It's not something revolutionary to entertainment but surely is something that will be talked about for years.
    There are moments on the story that you will hate, moments you will laugh, moments you will cry and the most important, moments to make you feel the love in this game. The museum's chapter has my favorite cutscene on game history by far. It was so well done that I played that chapter around 4 times, just to feel it again. However all this junk I wrote, it's just my opinion. If you haven't play it, give it a try and build up your own opinion, and don't just make it up from other people opinion. The game is not perfect at all, but I can't say it's not one of the best games ever made.    … Expand

    A honest review here. Graphics and sound is really good. Gameplay is very similar to the first game, with some improvements. Story is the games biggest problem. Its so bad that I wanted to stop playing the game. The ending is so bad it makes playing through the entire game feel unsatisfying and a waste of time.

    I have waited for this game for 7 years and it is a gem I love it so much the story is incredible, the graphics and lighting make this one of the best looking games I have ever seen!

    I have been waiting for this game to come out, and thus far I’m happy with the work of naughty dog. The game still has the same style as the first, yes the controls are I bit clunky, as they were in the first, but this isn’t street fighter or mortal Kombat. This game has followed direction from the first, and although, admittedly, I have not finished, I am about 25 hours in, there isI have been waiting for this game to come out, and thus far I’m happy with the work of naughty dog.     Tbh it really is a shame that a bunch of salty gamers and trolls would gang up to try and tarnish the name if this special game. I am a souls diehard and games like TLOU are not always my cup of tea but when playing this game it is honestly hard to critique it as it is one of the most immersive and detailed environments in have ever walked through in a video game.     Graphics are good but from a triple A title and from a studio like Naughty Dog it is to be expected. However the story is DREADFUL and forces you to make decisions which are completely un-relatable. I was very looking to play this but was greatly disappointing especially with the ending which is anti-climatic and terrible.

    Its the last Jedi of video games.

    I just finished the game for myself, and I can confidently say that in my opinion it is better than Part I and is one of the best games I have ever played. The game is very divisive, most people really hate it or really love it. You should definitely at some point give the game a chance and form your own opinion!

    Unfortunately an amazing game such as the first Last of Us has to receive a politicized sequel like this. I was shocked at the sexual content that is in this game for virtually no reason. I think no matter what side of the aisle you stand we should all agree that video games should leave out the politics for the better.

    I finally managed to finish TLOU2. The game is much, much longer than the first and its story is more complicated, dense and dark. The history and the ending has been criticized as “unsatisfying.” For me, it’s really the only way it could have ended. This entire game is a commentary on moral relativism (what I see as right and justified, you see as wrong and abominable), and the circularI finally managed to finish TLOU2. I can understand the parallels between Ellie and Abby: both of them lost so much due to hatred and revenge. I understand the immersion with the character that Naughty Dog tried to make between us and Ellie: (HEAVY SPOILERS!!!) When Abby kills Joel, Ellie is **** pissed, and we are **** pissed. When Ellie questions why did that happen, we question WHY DID THAT HAPPEN (naughty dog)!? By the end of the game, after going in a killing spree, Ellie feels uncomfortable, and so do we. We realize the consequences of hating and the eternal cycle of vengeance, just like Ellie, and to break this cycle (Lev would probably go in revenge after Ellie if she had killed Abby), Ellie chooses to spare the person that made her transform into something practically inhuman. The idea of this kind of immersion with a character is one of the most amazing ideas I have ever seen in entertainment history. The choice of killing Joel early on is one of the most bold moves i have ever seen in my life: it´s unfair... it´s **** disappointing... but it serves the idea of connection between character and player (or at least it should). That said, the gameplay, the graphics, the level design, the accessibility, and the CONNECTION between player and character are breathtaking (NOTE: I said the CONNECTIONS between player and character, and not the characters themselves, with few exceptions). The 10-hour long gameplay with Abby was unnecessary. I understand that Naughty Dog wanted to present the ultimate lesson that we can extract from this game: It doesn´t exist good or evil. All that exists is the point of view (or some **** like that). With a 30 minute or an hour gameplay we could have know all that we should know about Abby and her motivations, and the people that she cares about. But she IS the villain. Why would you wanna play for more than 2 hours as the villain of a game? Why does this game have to act like the world is 90% of the time a cruel place, and that ultimately there is more "bad" than "good"? Why does it has so much negativism in such dark times? Why wouldn´t you feel the same connections and lessons by keeping Joel alive for more than 2 and half hours? Joel being alive could add SO MUCH MORE in terms of gameplay and more in therms of history. Imagine that in the 5 years time jump between the first and the second game, Ellie actually had built an extremely deep relationship with someone (Dina maybe). A relationship that was the OPPOSITE of what it was with Joel, and with that, Ellie actually had a bigger emotional gap between her and him. Because she found out the truth. And she found out that she was starting to become like Joel. So she pushed him away and found love with someone else. The same **** in Jackson with the WLF, only this time Joel doesn´t die. But Jackson does, maybe Tommy as well. Not only Ellie would be **** pissed off but Joel would too. Imagine a more brutal combat with JOEL. A man who had everything taken away from him. But in case if you´re wondering "Wouldn´t this compromise the emotional relationship that we have with Ellie? I mean, we have a much deeper connection with Joel then with Tommy and a bunch of generic NPCs, because we played with him during the entire first game. So killing somebody other than Joel as a motivation of vengeance for Ellie wouldn´t cause the same impact and rage on US, and consequentiy we wouldn´t have the same connection we have with Ellie when Joel was killed". I understand that. I DO. Naughty Dog had to sacrifice Joel in order to deepen an emotional connection between us and Ellie. But it could have been in SO MANY different ways. Joel could have feel guilty because he had put his guard down with Abby and because of that he blames himself for the destruction of Jackson. So we would play the 10 hour section with JOEL, and not Abby. By mid-game he could die in a more meaningful way, maybe he could die learning an ultimate lesson that we would only discover when playing with Ellie, maybe he should have achieved some level of redemption for all horrible things he did. It´s a real shame ND just cutted off the connection between Joel and Ellie in favor of some parts, that weren´t really necessary and could have been avoided. My admiration for Naughty Dog improves a little bit when I take a look at their point of view, and the genuine balls they had on killing off this iconic character in favor of something new, and an amazing connection between player and character. But ND also had to assume the possibility of dissappointing their fans. And as we can see by these scores (most from people who didn´t played the game, but still) people are pissed. A BIG part of me is **** pissed. I don´t know if anyone is gonna see this but I HAD TO LET IT OUT. What a shame Naughty Dog. Hopefully you get the chance of having the redemption that Joel never had. 5/10 - Congratulations, you may have just broken your fanbase in two.… Expand

Сюжет отвратительный, вся магия первой части игры испаряется просто в никуда, и в конце концов у нас тупое унылое овно про месть. Подачи сюжета рваная и огромное количество моментов происходит аля "вот это совпадение". Новые персонажи неинтересные и не получают какого-либо развития, большинство просто сливают под конец, и это вызывает только одну реакцию - п@хуй. Вторая часть игры за Эбби вообще бред сивой кобылы. И финал... Отвратительно.
    Плюс всё это обильно приправлено повесткой. Можете глянуть видос "The NaughtyDog Agenda" и поймете, почему это важно. Если конечно по английски шпрехаете.

    Terrible game. Not only does the story completely ruin the playthrough of the first game but the game mechanics of this one barely add anything new. Can’t rate this game low enough. If you really want to play it just wait a month or so and get a used one for $2 because everyone will be throwing this one out.

When I was playing through it I kept saying out-load "Wow", "Wow", Wow". ..Like when I played the Wicher3, the new God of War, or Mass Effect3... but this game is even beyond that! This has next level gameplay. So much immersion and lvl of detail. I spent like 5 min looking at a rendered ps3 and you could clearly see the stack of gamesIf you actually play the game it's amazing! Naughty dog has so many great titles with the last of us 1, uncharted and so on, its a hurts to see this is how they think this is the direction for the story. The gameplay is amazing I will grant it that, but at least let us finished what we started with Abby instead of Ellie appearing to be such a weak character, when she lost the fight in Seattle and california. The thing about forcing you to play with HULK when I think NOBODY WAS INTERESTED IN HIS HISTORY and knowing what he does at the beginning, is forced to such an extent that it gives even anger. The ending is the most WTF you can imagine, in fact I'm sure they had planned to finish it at the Farm but what is the Epilogue they did it one last hour to try to move the player. They did not know how to end it after how the story has gone. Anyway, saving the graphics and artistic design, (which would say that RDR2 is there and that's the open world), rough gameplay, plot of the first game thrown in the trash and that I got really bored playing it, I can't give it more than a 00000… Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
