This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is a story-driven game, thus relying heavily on it's story. Gameplay and graphics are a minor point compared to this.

The story of The Last Of Us clearly went downwards since the first installment. Every credible source will tell you this fact as well. Personally I think this is connected to the fact that ND crunched a lot of employees in the making of this game. Eventually they didn't know what to, since all the competent people left the company, so they decided to make this.

After playing the game, I could probably tell you the names of about 3 characters, the ones from the first game not included. These people are the same throughout the game. There is no character development. I think the game does try to make you care about it's characters and there troubles, but I haven't met a credible source that say they do care about the characters. Neither do I. It is clear that the writers of this game are not the same as the last game, to say the least. Futhermore, after viewing the trailers for this game you wouldn't think this is the direction it would you. Plenty of people feel baited into buying this game. Luckily I have managed to refund it.

The gameplay is solid, however it is a copy and paste of the first installment.

The graphics are not bad, but that is what you expect from a game that has been in development for 7-8 years.

All in all I give this game a 0/10, for it did not deliver.

    A SPOILT MASTERPIECE

After 34 hours of gametime I completed the game, having explored plentifully in search of collectibles and resources and soaked up all the cutscenes. Let me start by saying this is a great game, despite the leaks and the childish review bombing, this game is great.... however it isn’t perfect. So lets begin:

Firstly, the graphics are amazing probably as good as or better than anything else we’ve seen on PS4. Whether it’s the lighting or the detailed scenery or how characters look when its raining etc. It just looks stunning. The facial animations of characters is really on point too smirks, smiles, grimaces all seem to be made at the right time and look really realistic.

The next thing I want to point out as a positive is the combat. It builds on from the solid foundations of the first game but goes further. The new weapons are nice, the way you can crawl around in the grass in stealth and be a silent hunter is cool and the way in which we can also get into brutal close quarters combat, dodging and then striking with brutal ferocity.

Another thing I loved is the level of suspense during many parts of the game, navigating dark corridors, trying to stock up and preserve ammo for when that next infected jumps out the wall and makes your heart start racing. For me that’s one of the best parts of the game and I’m sure on the higher difficulties proves really challenging and entertaining.

Finally, one of the really good things about the game is the cinematics. I always found them welcome and worked well with adding to the story. Also I’m not sure if they’re classed as cinematics as such but parts outside or normal gameplay, like a certain car chase/escape had an uncharted-like feel, it was really intense and worked well. QTE’s were also used well in situations like grappling with infected or trying to escape through doors, they added to the drama nicely.

Now, onto the negative and it’s a pretty major one. The storyline, particularly in the second half of the game, isn’t up to scratch. One of the issues I had to begin with was due to the developers choosing to jump around in time (sometimes by a day or sometimes way longer using flashbacks). I struggled to keep focus on what was happening. Secondly, I felt that despite new characters & groups of people emerging, these weren’t really used to develop the story and ended up feeling like filler. I was anticipating things that might happen and they never did. It became apparent to me as the game progressed it was heading down a very narrow tunnel, limiting itself to its core theme of revenge/vengeance. Also travelling to my next destination started to feel a little more tedious, probably because I was becoming increasingly desperate for parts of the plot to come together to pave the way for a new direction... and they never did. Ultimately as the final scenes played out, I felt very little, almost empty, I thought to myself “oh is that it”. I felt very detached from the main characters. I felt so much more could have been done. What was I meant to think and feel? It was a dissatisfying end to a game that looks and plays so damn well. Worth playing for sure because everyone is gonna interpret the story differently and the rest of the game is close to perfect. It’s an unusual game to review, but ultimately it’s a spoilt masterpiece. 7.5/10

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The gameplay and graphics are absolutely phenomenal, but the story is just a mess. Abby is very one-note, and just unlikable in general, even though the game really makes a great attempt to force you to do so. Many things seem contrived and don’t happen organically. This theme of revenge and “breaking the cycle” attempts to happen so many times throughout the game that it’s laughable. Expand

Joel’s death absolutely disrespectful for the fans and disgusting. They lie in the trailers we would see Joel in the present, that’s not professional and it seems they only care about money.
Also they put Ellie like a badass girl looking for revenge, and we see all the contrary.
Also being forced to play as Joel’s killer Abby to like her and know her side of the story, still bad, true fans won’t like her.

I know lots of people were mad about Joel dying but his death is used as a means to drive the plot forward and develop Ellie as a character. Another masterpiece from Naughty Dog, it's a shame that the leaks allowed so many people to make their minds up before it came out.

The game is really good. Stop being salty and close minded. Granted, the pacing could have been better, that is my biggest problem with the game. But does that really make the games story poorly written and bad? The amount of insane moments in the game are beyond any 0/100 scores. Good god i hate the human race.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is a genuine masterpiece of Gameplay and Story, i love almost everything about this game, ill start with my cons as i only really have 1, Pacing, i think this game can drag on sometimes, especially in Abbys sections but other then that, id say this game has so many pros it doesnt matter, Joel is dead and that means war to Ellie, Joels past actions regarding the fireflys and his actions at the finale of last of us 1, Abby, the daughter of the doctor at the hospital that Joel murder'd for Ellie, Now this is important, im ok with Joel dying, this is because it makes sense, Joel did something AWFUL, he doomed the Earth for his own gain, Your actions have consequences, as is shown by Ellie chasing down Abby as a result, this game made me feel more then any game ive ever played, before i discuss the ending i feel i should discuss the Gameplay, it feels great to play and looks absoulutely phenomenal and it maintans the last of us 1s tone and gameplay, its a broken world. Now the ending, i think the Ending is amazing, the game would have been so basic if "Ellie kills Abby you win", this is TLOU you rarely win, Ellie earned her revenge, but she broke they cycle, because if she killed him, she would be just as bad as her, i think people dont want to like Abby because they refuse to understand that Joel did Horrible things, People hate Abby because they are actively TRYING to hate Abby, i understand hating her at the start but if you still WANT to hate her, your obviously going to hate her by the end, if you let your guard down, you would actually start to like her and her friends, the ending leaves it open for both of them. I love the last of us 2 and i think the story was done well, G'night. Expand

Has to be the worst sequel of all time! Basically if you like the first game then stay away from this one.

The devs basically hate the fans of the first game, you don't want to know what they did to the characters in the first game! Also they do things out of characters, making it seems like they are either forgotten or rewritten just to get the 2nd game released. Rushed out of the market too.

Dont read it when you didnt finished the Game.

Negative points:I think the part where you play as Abby is a little bit too long. But that is okay for me.So the next point I really dont like is that you have to play as Abby when you fight the first time against Ellie. But for me is the biggest negative point that the end is too hopeless,Ellie have nothing more,no revenge, she lost Joel ,jessie ,JJ and Dina.Tommy hates her.And she lost two fingers and cant play the guitar from joel anymore. This is the saddest ending at all,for such a great character. But Abbye get all in all a very hopefull ending what is not fair for me.

All in all it is a goodgame but I think the first Game is 1 Point better. Also I dont belive that they will make a part 3,because I dont think that they can tell anathor Story about Ellie. So the only option would be make a Game with a new Main antagonist or with abby. And that would probably noboy buy.

Last of Us Part II Review

If you’re looking for super happy times, don’t play this game.

Many people do not appreciate the brutality, bleakness and grittiness of this story, and instead want to look away and curse at it rather than see what it is really about: finding the light in the dark.

It is an often-overwhelmingly dark story that shocks you to your core, and if you don’t like that then you won’t like the characters or their actions, which seem perfectly natural in a world as bleak and unforgiving as post-apocalyptic Seattle.

As well done as those elements are, the story is overlong by about 5 hours, there is an anticlimax that could have been more emotional (that ends up turning itself around and making up for it in the end) and the gameplay gets a bit repetitive sometimes.

But there’s truly no need for the slew of negative reviews that have come out from users panning it for having a “bad” story and being “disrespectful“ of characters we love when in reality they just can’t handle the truth.

Oh, and people panning it for pushing a LGBTQ agenda can shove it— the story is about so much more than merely pushing a political agenda.

    8.5/10. Great game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So, it’s been a few days since I finished the last of us part II. I honestly had to take the time to digest what I’ve witnessed during my 21hr play through. The game is what it is. It’s not perfect the story is debatable on what you take from it. Whether you believe they should have kept Joel alive or killed him. The story throwing you into a character that took the life of a character we’ve only been waiting seven years to get back in the control of, which I won’t lie it boiled me up from the moment it happened. The game is beautiful, the gameplay is even better. I love every moment of feeling that if I make one wrong move I’m gonna end up getting killed. The non infected characters (Scars, WLF) etc. are intelligent in their attempts to see you die. Crawling around and staying out of sight trying to lead dogs away from your scent and picking each enemy off one by one. But when things go pear shaped the enemies attack you relentlessly and reacted to each other being killed by shouting their names. I honestly think the gameplay made up for a lot of the story. The cutscenes are very long and sometimes drag a bit. I felt like i was itching all the time to jump back into gameplay. We got to witness Ellie face a lot of adversities during her 3 days in Seattle but she ultimately came out of this on the worse end and loses absolutely everything. When the credits role I felt like is that it? I spent twenty one hours playing to just end up with one of the worst endings in a game ever. Yes, I get it Ellie couldn’t live with herself not revenging or gaining closure for someone she held so dear as her father figure. I think this game is something everyone should experience as a playstation gamer it’s the tip of the mountain of how far this current gen can push the console to its limits. This isn’t for everyone and it’s not the first game in anyway. But look everyone has the right to their own opinions so go enjoy the game.

Thank you! Neil Druckman, Troy Baker, Ashley Johnson, Jeffrey Pierce.

¿Propaganda? De ningún modo.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Alot of people who played this when it first came out 7 years ago on playstation 3 couldn't have asked for a better story driven game. That however is not the case with The last of us part 2. It has already been said so many times but how do you mess up so badly on a game that had potential to go so many different ways than what it got. I didn't look at any spoilers at all until after I was done with the game and by then I understood why people were upset, some maybe a bit more than others but I understood. What annoyed me the most throughout the game was that everything seemed somewhat predictable, the banter that Joel and Ellie had in the first game is non-existent in this game with Dina and Jesse it all felt so unnatural and you just didn't feel anything for these characters as you did with for example Sam and Henry in the first game. I actually had to stop playing for a few mins when Sam and Henry died because I was genuinely shocked in the way it was executed. The way Joel died was pathetic and stupid and I was honestly left emotionless with his death, I was in such huge disbelief that they killed him off in such a pathetic way. Hell i'm still in disbelief about the entire game and that this is what we got after waiting for 7 years. We didn't need to play as Abby for 10+ hours, you could've taken that time and put in some more screentime with Joel and Ellie. So why is it still a 5/10, well because I do believe that gameplay and graphics matter to a certain degree and the story was bad there isn't any doubt about it but it still made me feel a few things along the way. There were some great moments where naughty dog really managed to capture the horror aspect of the game. I was constantly sitting and asking myself ''when do the stalkers from the first game show up ?'' and they didn't let me down there. The infected in the game is a solid upgrade from the first game and combat overall felt good. However with that said what we got after waiting for 7 years could've been done alot better and it really makes me sad as a massive fan to the last of us 1 to say, we probably would've been better off without having to witness this story. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. To be frank, I truly believe that, this game requires multiple playthroughs and hours of thought put into the themes of the story before coming to a final review on this game. This is my initial reaction after my first complete playthrough of the story.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am going to break down what I think.
    1) The gameplay, visuals, and the world-building in the game is outstanding. Even though the game is mostly linear, it does give the player options to explore and choose their own path in areas like Seattle where you are in charge of a large open map. You can either visit all of them or not. It's up to you. I hope I don't have to explain why TLOU2 might be the best looking game on the PS4. The facial animation and in-game facial moments are really good and it adds to the experience subtly. The enemies are more aware of the surroundings. I played it in the Normal mode and if you can see the enemy, the enemy can see you, just like the real world. The stealth feels satisfying and the dogs bump the difficulty in many areas. I loved it. Even though the gameplay is brutal with its ultra-realistic deaths, I think it fits well withing what they are going for narratively.
    2) The audio and environmental sounds are really well done. Although i would have liked some more of the original tracks from Gustavo especially since this is a 25hr game. But I enjoyed the auditory experience, I just hoped I had more of it.
    3) The UI is similar to TLOU part 1 but the AI is significantly better. See 1
    4) The story is very complex in its own terms. I did have a very powerful emotional reaction at the end of the game. Seeing Abby carry Lev just like Joel carried Ellie at the end of the first game, and Ellie trying to kill Abby brings to the cycle of violence theme, and it hits hard. I was depressed for a whole day at what happened. Do I approve of it?
    .
Not completely but yes to the most part. I think that the same theme may have been told in a better way. The game is too bleak and depressing and it's not because of the fall of humanity or the need for survival like depicted in the first game but for revenge and hatred. I am not an expert in the human condition but this revenge sometimes didn't bode with me well. But I did understand most of the decisions made by the characters and I think that playing the game the second time will make it even more sense. However, there are major pacing issues especially in the second part when playing as Abby. Meeting Yara and Lev were very nice but how they met after the abrupt cuts, Lev running away on the boat and many hours spent chasing Lev felt like a little drag and could have done better. Of course, the reason for that is to make sure Yara gets killed and to show what violence brings by burning down the island. But the way it was executed was a little bad.
    5) I never thought I will see a resident evil type villain in TLOU2. It just feels so out of place as TLOU was a game grounded in reality and had a hard time believing that in the world of TLOU there can exist such a monster. Of course, I am talking about the one we encounter during Abby's supply run. Overgrown fungal infection over multiple bodies in such a way that their neural connections are linked making it a single organism made of a collective seemed too much for a Cordyceps fungus to manage. Hell! I don't even manage both my hand properly when playing piano and we are talking about 5-10 different bodies being controlled by a parasitic fungus.I wished that the Boss battle never existed.
6)there are many areas where both infected and humans exist and you can use it against one another. I liked it. I also thought the puzzles are really good. I felt good about myself when solving a couple of them. I loved the idea of safes in the game, it rewarded exploration in a good way.
    .
The Last of Us 2 is not a perfect game but its a must-play game, according to me. It has a lot of issues but the fact that it made me think for 2 days straight about what happened in the game and its themes proves the fact that it is a thought-provoking game. It does touch on many themes very well. If you are a fan of the first game, I think you won't regret playing the second. Don't expect a time like u played Spiderman. This is TLOU2 its bleak, sad, depressing, and u will be emotionally drained by the end of it. But it's worth it.
    .
    .
    .
If I were to give it a score I would probably give it a 7.5. I usually love the movies above 7 in IMDB and 7.5 for TLOU2 is a good score according to me but of course, the first game is a 9-10 for me.

Go in with an open mind and be willing to see through the story, and try to put your biases aside as much as possible. With tight gameplay, excellent visuals, and a solid combat system The Last Of Us Part II is a blast to play. It's a game changing and monumental work of art, and is executed masterfully. The story is beautiful and heartbreaking. There are no "political opinions pushed" onto the player, and the game does not strictly tell you how to feel. There are also no good or bad guys, yet many of the critics feel the need to use that as an argument, which is proven to not be the case at various times throughout the game. The characters are dynamic and rich, and the voice acting is top notch. While this game is sure to be decisive, keep an open mind and form your own opinions based on the story that the game developers wanted to tell. The few cons that I had would deal with the game overstaying it's welcome, and certain parts dragged on, and risked being repetitive to the point of being boring. I encountered a few minor bugs, but I would not say they impacted the experience, and none of them were game-breaking. Give this game a chance. I would realistically give it an 8/10 due to the gameplay being too long, about 3 hours could have been cut and instead that time could have been utilized to build more story moments and to give us more information and moments with key characters. All in all, this game is worth it, and does not deserve all the mindless hate that it gets. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is the big step forward into making gaming a more respected form of art
In books and movies it has become very typical to have a sad ending in the end, an inconclusive ending
But gamers are not ready for it, gamers are not ready for a story that questions them, that makes them think
Most of them anyway, the proof is the user score for this game
I think Naugthy Dog was too ambitious, they tried to do a biiiiig step forward and maybe they took too many risks
The way and the timing of Joel death, you having to play as the "villain" (this game shows you there are no villains in life, no "good" vs "bad"), all the "political propaganda" (which honestly i didn't find it at all in this game) and that ending ... it was too much for the casual gamer, the gamer that plays games to escape real life
I want to believe that Naughty Dog won't turn back because of these mixed reviews because I truly believe that this is the start of something very good for the gaming world
No game ever has made me feel the way this game has, no book or film for that matter
So many emotions condensed into this 25 hour (i took 21h55 on my 1st playthrough) game
You can dislike the game and especially the story, but you can't the game or the story is objectively bad
The music, the setting, the atmosphere, the gameplay and the attention to detail is all top notch
The game is not perfect and it's not 10/10, no game is
But this game deserves it only for the audacity of defying the status quo
For anyone reading this, buy the game, experience it
It's okay if you don't like it, it's not a game for everyone but it's an experience that will stay with me for a long, long time
    Masterpiece

The hate surrounding this game is idiotic. The story and characters are superbly written, music is great, and the have been some improvements to combat. If the game was a bit shorter, had more new combat elements, and had less bugs it'd be perfect. It is arguably as good or better than its predecessor.

The settings are next level. There are so many options to create experience that is for your taste (on gameplay side). Absolutely 10 out of 10 on those.

It is not fun, but it is not suppose to be. The arts are seeking emotion from the person, but not automatically joy. They have pushed the video games to the next level, making you feel angry, sad and many more at the same time. Even the negative reviews just shown how good they managed to control the emotions of people, making them feel exactly how they wanted people to feel. Absolute master piece for this generation.

I can understand the death of certain character but the it was carried out in a ridiculous way, not to mention the plot holes and the casual offensive dialogues against Asian, i guess Asian will always be the laughing stock of the society. This isn't what I enjoyed and loved from the last game, it's kinda heartbreaking for me to see my favourite exclusive game got ruined by the poor script writing. After playing this all the way through in a matter of days I can honestly say that I was and still am in the camp of people that believed that Ellie and Joel's story should have ended with the first game. In the end it feels like their story wasn't the one they wanted to be told in the first place making them feel tacked on and not very essential to what was going on through out most of it. A disturbingly poor use and lack of respect or understanding of their own characters. Ninety percent of this game feels like painfully long padding or filler where you get dumped into combat scenario into combat scenario with no breaks. The gameplay itself is nice when used well or in small doses but with so much else going against it, it really forces you to notice how bland and simple the gameplay really is when not backed up with compelling reasons to put up with it. Combat and exploration are almost 1 for 1 with the original with the smallest changes made to traversal that never feels like a strong enough evolution to warrant praise. You've climbed ropes in other games, climbed up small ledges in other games and crawled through grass in other games. Not game exactly compelling game changers.
I would strongly recommend waiting for this to go on sale before purchasing it for yourself. It is not the worst thing on planet earth like many review bombers would have you believe, and it is definitely not a masterpiece like the other half would defensively tell you. In the end it is an OK game that's a nice thirty hour time waster where the dissonance between character and player is so strong that, to borrow an analogy, it's like watching a puppet show and never being able to enjoy the puppets because you are too busy looking at the puppet master in his unsuccessful attempts to compel your imagination or say anything of actual depth or interest.

The game tries switching things up a bit but also fails at that, characters don’t have a good backstory nor something relatable to make you feel for them.

Gameplay although changed slightly has an awful AI system (even when set to hard) and sometimes too long segments that make you actually feel that you want to finish it as soon as possible, it also doesn’t help that it is intertwined with the badly written story.

The "hide-and-seek" style of gameplay is way more interesting in my opinion compared to a normal stealth game, the map design is far better with more branching paths and areas to explore, to the point where it sometimes feels open world, and the crafting and weapon systems from the first game have been improved upon greatly. If there's one word to describe this game, I would say it would be "brutal" because every punch, shot, and explosion feels so real and guttural. The enemies call out eachothers names whenever one is killed, the dogs whimper and shake when dying. The game is just so nihilistic and real and I love it so much. For the story, I really enjoyed it. The whole concept of 2 parallel stories going on at once was really interesting. I think that this is one of the only games where I felt like, along with the characters, I was having my own character development, trying to figure out which characters I liked, which characters I didn't, and what was right and wrong. The game is really enjoyable, and once I finished it's roughly 22 hour campaign, I felt satisfied by the game's story and the direction it took it. The only reason that the game is not getting a 10/10 for me is because I felt like some parts felt rushed, and some parts dragged along for a bit more than they needed to. The gameplay is the best, it maintains what is already known in the first part and adds new things such as being able to jump and handle ropes, fighting against the waves whether infected or not, make us stay on the edge of stealth. The story shocked me, like anyone else, but something that people must understand is that this game is not about Joel, but Ellie, and that is made clear to us from the beginning. By putting ourselves in the perspective of "the bad guys" they make us understand that every act of revenge brings us to the same starting point, without knowing who is good or bad. I like to think that the objective of the director of this game was to put an end to this story, because the same thing would always be repeated but with new characters, it is here where it is worth mentioning the phrase "die being a hero or live long enough to become the villain". Imagine if those leaks never happened. Players would concentrate on the whole story, without specifying certain moments. No one would play the game with leaked scenes in mind. Just try to perceive the story as a chunk, not in pieces. Maybe THEN you will understand.

Naughty Dog: Ellie has let it go. What a brilliant way to finish the story
    Me: I haven't let go
Naughty Dog: Ellie feels Joel did not want blood on her hand
Me: WTF? But I have been killing nonstop for the last 10 something hours?
Please make the 3rd part Naughty Dog and you will surely have a good taste of bankruptcy

The game is extremely high quality but for a users perspective its very dissapointing
Many critical flaws for the viewers satisfaction
One of the main reasons why its dissapointing was how sony and naughty dog overhyped the game to make people dissapointed easily becauae they have been waiting for seven years

I have nothing to complain about the technical aspects of the game, they are all very impressive, especially for all the accessibility options they included.

The problem is really the story, which is told in such an dumb and manipulative way that it completely fails to make the player feel any sympathy for Abby or any other character in her arc. Remembering this game just makes me sad

While other studios put as much effort into making the player stay as long as possible in the game, Naughty Dog has managed to create a game that once finished, I never want to play it again in my life.

Have to do my part to correct this score from the people who didn’t even play it.

This game is exceptional. Every second of it. The gameplay, the world, the graphics, the music, the acting, and yes, even the story. I didn’t read the leaks before playing, and I’m glad I didn’t. It sounds like it ruined the game for a lot of people and I genuinely feel bad for them, to be honest.

That said, I understand from playing the game what moments were probably controversial to people. They all worked for me though, and tied into what was established in the first game both story-wise and tonally. For those of you that played it all the way through and still hated it, I think you may have misinterpreted the original game and the message it was putting forward.

Gameplay might be some of the best stealth/survival combat I’ve ever experienced. They took what worked in the first game and just perfected it. The open world segments were a wonderful addition as well.

Graphics are by far the best we’ve seen this generation. If you told me this was a PS5 game, I’d believe you.

An absolute unpredictable, beautiful, scary, emotional, fun masterpiece. 10/10

Great graphic and map design, vividly demonstrate the environment in the apocalypse, while it fails to make the story right, this is a game, not a movie, players need to emerge in it and play as the character, so forcing the players to be as one that they don't want to be is totally unacceptable. I don't know that I should play an antagonist for almost half of the game. Which made me mad, but this game didn't give me any choice, I could not force Abby to be killed and say: Voila, here's my ideal happy ending. I feel not respected as a player who highly expect to have a good experience with Ellie during the journey. This sequel ruins every expectation I have toward the title, and I know they do it in purpose. Expand

Playing as both Ellie and Abby was very surprising and after being stunned 2 and a half hours into it, I couldn’t get enough. The ending was different, but I certainly didn’t hate it. A piece of art, don't understand why there's so much hate about the game, they took a risk killing of Joel so early but I'd say it paid off I was hooked to kill Abby but then I by the end I felt the pain of both characters.. only downfall is the character models glitching in cutscenes and taking away some of the experience Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Wow. This game is absolutely, positively incredible. It has the same vibes as the first one. It is brutal, it is gut wrenching, it is stressful, it is kind of miserable, and it is heart-warming. The graphics are absolutely stunning and the game-play is so much fun. The voice acting and character writing is absolutely incredible. I adore the diversity and LGBTQ representation in it as well - LGBTQ people exist and are not a political statement; we deserve mainstream stories like this, even if it is a brutal post-apocalyptic gore and revenge throwdown. Overall I liked the story, despite minor plot holes and some loose ends. My biggest complaint about the story is the ending; SPOILER ALERT! I believe the tail end of it set in California was highly unnecessary and felt unfinished. I wish the theatre battle between Ellie and Abby was the final battle - Ellie could have had the same realization in the basement that she had on the beach. I am glad that Ellie, Abby, Dina, Tommy, and Lev all lived in the end and wish it ended with Ellie and Dina being happy on the farm and Abby and Lev going off to start new lives together. I would give it a 10/10 if the ending wasn't what it was. Overall, it was a great ride and I loved it. Thank you, Team NaughtyDog! (Also, thank you for not killing any of the LGBTQ characters - that trope is overdone and I was so worried the whole time one of them would die.) Expand

The review bombing for this game is unwarranted, as most give it '0' simply because they didn't like the story, or haven't even finished the game. There are controversial narrative choices sure, but the experience is better for it.

This is no hero game. There is no 'good vs evil'. It's about humanity in its most desperate of times and what people are capable of doing when pushed to their limits with their emotions and minds. Outside of the marmite story, the rest of the game is at the top of its class in all other areas, so giving it a low score because of the story feels like a disservice to all of the hard work the developers have put in to create such a wonderful masterpiece of a world that feels eerily real.

I for one LOVED the story. Without spoiling anything, the game takes an interesting narrative direction during the game, which I have seen no other game do and while some people don't like this, I think it's brilliant. It really makes you focus on the core themes the story is dealing with and makes you question your own morality.

(Abby’s dad) I’m not even that mad about Joel’s death, I’m maby even more mad about those misleading trailer where Joel spoke that wonderful line. But this story of Abby didn’t had my interest at all, especially her friends like Owen, Mel, Manny, Lev and Yara had so little value for me in this part. In the beginning when playing with Ellie & Dina I felt those oldskool TLOU1 vibes, when the gameplay switched to Abby it felt like I was playing a whole different game. Expand

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
