    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I finished the story last night, and I see some of these bad reviews. It is almost like we didn’t play the same game.

    The Last of Us Part 2 captures human faces and emotion like nothing else I have played. The feeling of survival and fighting for your life was insane in the first game, and with this one Naughty Dog cranked it up as far as they could go. Do you remember the scene in 28 Days Later when Jim is running around and desperately fighting the soldiers? That is what the combat feels like, it is intense, savage and probably the most visceral I have ever experienced in a game. No joke- every character has a name, even the dogs- this gives real weight to the violence and makes everything feel more personal.

    One thing I felt about the first game was that there was a lot of fighting against people and less against infected. This one gets the balance perfectly, and the creature designs are horrifying in the best possible way. The fight against the repulsive Rat King in the hospital basement is a boss battle for the ages.

    The exploration and level designs are so detailed and well put together. You can spend hours taking everything in while you search for supplies. Make sure you search everywhere because you might find something that will save you when you next get into a fight. Not only that, but the exploration gives you a chance to further absorb this amazingly detailed and realised world. The graphics are outstanding.

    In a world where we are getting constant re-hashes of female characters from the past- lets give this evil character a sympathetic backstory! The Last of Us 2 gives us two incredible female leads in the form of Ellie and Abby. These are characters who fit perfectly within the morally grey confines of this game world. So many people are going on about how this game is pushing a political agenda- that is ridiculous, and I bet you that these are the guys who always use Ripley from Alien as their only example of a good female character. Okay, maybe they will mention Sarah Connor in the same breath. The reality is that the two lead performances are awards worthy, and the characters are deep and complex- everyone has their reasons and there is empathy for both sides. You will find yourself emotionally invested like you would a great film, and the goosebumps on your arm will reflect that.

    Some people lost their minds over Joel in this game and it makes me wonder- do they remember the first game? He changed the future of humanity to satiate his ego. He didn’t tell Ellie what he did, and he lied to her because he knew that he had made the wrong choice. The way he dies is in keeping with the world and the character. The Last of Us isn’t heroic gunfights and honour. No, he was ambushed and bashed in. It is grim, horrible, and totally in keeping with the feel of this world. He had it coming. He had done so many awful things and changed the fate of the entire world for the worse. Joel’s final decision at the end of the last game was unforgivable, and he knew it. People say that Joel has changed, and he is not the same guy from the first game- he kept the secret for years. He softened a little because he was looking for redemption. He never got it, and he did not deserve it.

    The sequel explores the consequences of Joel’s choice, the lie, and its impact on his relationship with Ellie. Which in turn makes Abby’s storyline gripping. Abby makes for a compelling playable character, her life had been changed by Joel’s actions and she handled revenge just like Joel would have. In this way, they are similar people who will do anything for those they love.

    Finally- if you still have any trepidation with getting this game, ask yourself one very important question: am I going to listen to these people, many of which have suspect reasons for hating it- or am I going to listen to almost every reputable reviewer (look at reviews from proper gaming magazines, most of them are golden) there is? You are only doing yourself a disservice by not playing it.    … Expand

    Out of 100s games I have played since I was 7, only a handful of games I considered as a "masterpiece". Games like Bioshock, Bloodborne; Games that tell a story that is worth to be told.

    The Last of Us 2 is one of them. I am not a huge fan of TLOU 1 (and I know it is a great game in every way) but TLOU 2 is different. It is very different in its theme. I can see why there are so many    Out of 100s games I have played since I was 7, only a handful of games I considered as a "masterpiece". I can see why there are so many people are so angry at the game and I believe most of people who playing will be angry at one point of the story but it's intentional and essential.

    I don't usually write reviews but this one is for telling anyone who reading this, if you are interested in playing this, just play and decide for yourself. Just aware that it's not a game that will "entertain" you but it's a game that will make you feel and hopefully, think about its theme.    … Expand

    I never experienced a story so well told. It gets you involved and it plays with your feelings in so many ways. I simply won't look at games the way I did before. And really the beauty of it all is actually how diverse and real the characters are.

    first of all ITS NOT A BAD GAME. its one of the best games that ive ever played. its just a whole new experience you may have an other opinion but i say that you play it some things may be sad and you don't wanna play the game but trust me the graphics the game-play the story its all just the best you can get hate me get mad at me or disagree but i say THAT ITS THE BEST GAME.

    From the beginning until the end, TLOU2 surprised me (and in a good way)! The story was very compelling and emotional. It shows the dark side behind both Ellie and Abby. The world was amazingly beautiful, but also dark and brutal. The gameplay evolves in every way possible, with a large arsenal of weapons and an extensive crafting system. This game is insanely detailed with stunning visuals, it's the most realistic game i have ever seen!

    It's just amazing how this game makes you feel even if you are playing through it again.
    Hopefully Naughty Dog don't restrict their creativity because of a small community of haters.

    In my interpretation, I think the second game is to show us the complexity of life and humanity. It strongly shows the us vs them mentality as well. Even though we’re shown how human each side (Abby’s group vs Ellie’s group) can be and how they have loved ones/friends of their own and their goal is to survive just like everybody else, we see how these groups still violently clash with oneIn my interpretation, I think the second game is to show us the complexity of life and humanity. It’s easy to paint the other side as the bad guys and so you fight against them, perpetuating the cycle of revenge and violence.

    The game is also about the parallels of Abby and Ellie’s story and how they experience loss and revenge. They both have lost their father/father figure, lost their friends, and experienced so much just for revenge. They really aren’t that different from one another. In the end, it was all meaningless because they’ve tired themselves out and have already accepted their fate, no longer wanting to kill the other— hence: “An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.”

    Lastly, I think the game is called The Last of Us because it is what’s left after all is said and done that makes us— well... us really. The game serves as a grim reminder that our actions have consequences, but it also reminds us that every character has a story/life of their own. This ties back into the complexity of life and humanity— we all have our own stories and motivations that make us who we are and determines who we may become. It is because of Joel’s actions which caused Abby to go after him in the first place. And we see in the second game how the desire for revenge causes Abby and Ellie to go against one another until they’ve lost nearly everything. The second game was never meant to have a happy ending. It’s supposed to make you uncomfortable and leave you feeling numb/empty afterwards, in order to show the grim reality of the world we live in.    … Expand

When The Last Of Us part 2 received so many negatives, I gave up the purchase. I didn't want to spoil the impression of the first part. However, on the occasion of ps5, I gave the game a chance and I can say that I don'tI specially created an account to evaluate this game and at least to a small extent to offset negative ratings. I'm a huge fan of Part One, I loved Joel and Elie. When The Last Of Us part 2 received so many negatives, I gave up the purchase. I didn't want to spoil the impression of the first part. However, on the occasion of ps5, I gave the game a chance and I can say that I don't understand why such negative opinions come from. The second part is as high as the first ...     You played for both sides to see that Abby suffered aswell, she wanted the same revenge as Ellie ... she got it ... and when you think about it, Joel was a prick when he killed so many people and didmt think about their families...
    I think people at the end could decide if they want to kill abby or not, as same as Jin sakai in ghost of tsushima, was up to player to kill or spare his uncle ...
    But its still a masterpiece, amazing realistic fight mechanics, graphics look like a movie, audio is crazy good .... I feel sorry about people who didnt get what Neil meant by ending ... Everhing what makes me sad is that its end of the story, I loves that story and their world. Peace    … Expand

    Best game I've ever played. Incredibly ambitious, thematically brilliant and executed to perfection. Breaks my heart that it's got so much hate, but then I guess the best art is divisive. To anyone at Naughty Dog, I salute you for the sheer ambition and boldness of pulling off this masterpiece.

I know this game won the game of the year and that alone proves that this is, a masterpiece - I still want to add one more point in the positive reviews to wash out the negative ones. All the mad people are just mad that ND kills Joel and they then blame it on the "flat" storyline. Well, the story is not flat if you can get this mad about it. It is a bleak yet profoundly beautiful story about humanity, about perspectives, and about let go. Let alone this is the first blockbuster game that features a character that is part of the LGBTQ community. It feels like a win already from the get-go. Don't say that is not significant, for marginalized people, the feeling of being represented is just.. rare. And I don't care if most people can't understand that. I mean, it's hard to know what coming up for fresh air means if you have just been breathing normally for your whole life. And I think that people who are giving this game negative reviews need to get their emotions in check and acknowledge that this is no laziness; it is simply a game that does more than a game.… Expand

    The atmosphere is pretty dark, definitely not a happy game. I think the most important part „to enjoy“ the game is that you need to allow yourself to engage in the story. The game makes you feel all the and we need to question our own actions, which makes it special in my eyes.

I honestly don't understand all the hate about this game, and I think that all the haters of this game are just people who can't accept the death of their favourite character. I will say honestly that when i saw Joel being murdered by Abby, I truly wanted her dead. But te game was playing on my feelings, and that shows how great is Neil Druckmann as scenarist. By the end of the game, I didn't want to kill Abby at all, because she had already gone through some s***t. And I didn't want Ellie dead as well. And I think that the ending of that game is just amazing. I was feeling empty (in a positive way). I am really waiting for the III part!!!… Expand

    As a fan of the tlou game series, I expected more from this version, but in some ways I was disappointed and tried to analyze what happened. The storytelling could have been better , like tlou 1, but unfortunately it did not happen. , But I still love tlou and this is still a masterpiece and I hope tlou 3 is better.

    It is a masterpiece, better then 1st game in all places:
    Grafics - its almost perfect as is could be,
    Battle mechanics - very tough AI and very realistic battles that gives you a wow sometimes when you did not expect something as it never happends in all others games,
    Story - its real brutal, harsh, hard to believe, hard to understand their motives and it all comes to a greatest conclusion as it could be wich even takes a place to the Part 3 game (wich would be really-really hard to make better than it is Part 2). You hate and love the heroes and all the way each step is so meaningfull to live with them and understand their choices.

    And i even did not like games with the scary motives and when its possible to scare you in unexpected moments, but after i play 1st game i knew i should try 2nd, and never regret it.

    Yes, there is a lot of rainbow theme, yes, maybe too much, and even, for the fans of original game its too brutal story, but it lookes more realistic in that way, rather it would be another usual and boring happyend...    … Expand

    Honestly, after seeing all the hate surrounding this game, when I saw it for sale at Walmart for only 30$, I thought “There’s no way I’m going to like this, but the graphics look good at least”, so I bought it. The game quickly became very addictive, as I played through it within only a few days. And holy **** I did not expect to enjoy it as much as I did. I had played the first game so many years ago, and can safely say (although it may be because I have grown more mature and have grown to enjoy storytelling more), that I enjoyed this installment much more than the first, and that’s saying a lot.… Expand

    The last of us part 2 is the pinnacle of 3rd pearson action games, his story has a superb writing and themes that only support it. The last of us is a master piece and everybody who is a fan of bynary, story based 3rd action games, should buy it as quick as possible, you won't regret it.

It doesn't try and make you feel good and that's what a lot of people are complaining about in the story, but it makes you feel angry and confused because playing the "bad guy" makes you realise there's 2 sides to every story and you get mad at yourself because you don't want to sympathize with the people the game made you hate. For me that's definite proof of a masterfully crafted storyline that engages the player. I can guarantee you will think about this game a lot after playing it. It conveys such a strong message that you can't ignore. That is what makes it so great. It provokes thought and emotion, and not always in a good way and that's what separates this game from so many other story-driven games.… Expand

    I appreciate that they took a Narrative Risk that they knew wouldn't hit with everyone. I think this game is a Masterpiece that the more you play the better it gets.

    It's an amazing game with fantastic graphics, lighting, animation facial rigs and story. It does make you feel angry, sad and conflicted if people don't like these it stick to animal crossing.

    I'm not going to write an extensive review but I just created an account here just for the purpose to shift the user score a tiny bit more into an actually fair direction. A user score 5.7 does the game no justice at all. It is a straight 10. I could not justify withdrawing even one point single for anything.

    If you ask me, all the bad reviews come from gamers who just can't handle the game. The game will make you feel uncomfortable... a lot! You'll feel it in your stomach. (And I am not talking about that horror-game-fear, which is also there.) The game will capture your thoughts long after you have finished the game.
    There really is no comparable game, I would say. Actually the thing which comes closest is... actually Game of Thrones Season 1, feeling-wise. So if you could not handle certain events in GoT Season 1 , then maybe keep away from this game, because you won't be able to handle this game as well. Other than that, if you do not play this game, you're going to miss the best story-driven game humanity has produced so far.    … Expand

    If I had to describe the story of The Last of Us Part II in three words, it would be shocking, bold and powerful.
    The characters feel like real people instead of fictional characters, and that's impressive.
    The gameplay is awesome; everything works perfectly, especially the stealth mechanics.
    The music is amazing and it feels like it's a part of the narrative.
    The visuals, the audio design, the animations, the environments and the atmosphere are the best I've seen in any videogame.
    Also, the details and the accessibility options are astonishing to say the least.
    Unfortunately, the pacing of the story feels slightly dragged out at times, which is my only complaint about the game.
    So, why is The Last of Us Part II so controversial then? Well, to be honest... I don't know.
    The Last of Us Part II is a very faithful sequel that makes the first game even more meaningful and complete than it already was.

The overall user rating given to 'The Last of Us - Part 2' is absolute madness to me. As an immersive gaming experience, it's up there with my favourites, certainly of it's generation. It is a visual/audio delight, with exceptional gameplay - and I kinda admire the risk Naughty Dog took by not playing it safe with the story and flipping the switch as they did. It was shocking to me, like the Red Wedding episode in GoT(one of the best episodes in my opinion). Absolute masterclass of a game overall. Thank you ND.… Expand

    For me the best video game of all times. The game with all its facettes is simply amazing. But what really makes a difference, is the emotional experience it creates. Very boldly it teaches a hard and surprising lesson about hatred, revenge and ultimately about the need to forgive - even your worst enemy.

После прохождения можно долго сидеть и раздумывать что могло бы быть иначе. Как надо было поступить так чтоб ничего небыло. The effort put into this game was just immaculate. It was amazing how we could both Ellie and Abby’s point of view even though most people hated it. I know Abby killed Joel but her and Ellie are so similar I don’t understand how people could like one of them but not the other. The cycle of revenge that kept happening was just wow. The end had me crying because Ellie said she was scared of ending up alone and she did. Thank you Naughty Dog for this wonderful experience.… Expand
