The story in my opinion worked for the most part, as i grew to like some of the newer characters like Abby, their stories and their actions. It was both emotionally and impactful and the end left me absolutely stubborn. I loved it. Not only does the game look and sound incredible, but i am so blown away for what Naughty Dog has brought to table. This is a game that has to be experienced before it can be judged.

    CONS :The shock DEATHS, for example Jesse and Yara deaths they just leave me after the shock feeling like what I had done was for nothing. The first games had some of these as well
    I think the pacing is really bad but I don t think I could've done it better or someone else for the story it is trying to tell. For example I would've done everything chronological but NO, we would've seen what Ellie is doing in 2033 then 2034 then 2036 then what happends a few days after that and then Ellie kissing with DIna and the rest so NO. You would've forgotten every of those moments by the end of the game. And those flashbacks actually have critical role for the moment they are put in. So now getting to the pros.
    Pros: I think the story is very good overall. I don't think the main theme is revenge and is about forgivness and overall the good in humanity. A lot of people are mad about Joel dying either early either "stupid" or that he didn t have a hero death witch is just stupid he is an anti hero ffs, From what we know from the first game is that he only care about himself and the ones that he loves. I thought the first game forgot something but it didnt. The first actual scene where we can see that from Joel is right at the begining before Sarah dies, when he leaves behind a hopeless family in the street. So no I didn t have a problem with Joel not heroic death we still get a lot of momets between him and Ellie after and he wasn t stupid I mean it was too far for them to go back to Jackson and is not like those guys had a firefly band on them and not WLF. And NO there is no plot hole. Abby was actually searching for Tommy, Joel brother cause she knew he was in Jackson it is said in one of the flashbacks. BUT PEOPLE wheren't paying attention to that cause now we don t get to have a villain backstory cuz she just killed our main character ? Come on is just SO STUPID. So Ellie wants to get revenge and she goes and kills Abby's friends to get information about her location. In these moments we see how Ellie gets more comfortable with killing like Joel how his death had an impact on her, IT IS JUST SO GOOD. Then we get to see why Abby killed Joel and that her revenge on him left her with nobody cause now all her friends are dead. We also get some cute bonding moments between her and Lev. She goes after Ellie but she doesn t end up killing her or Dina when she looks at Lev. And Lev is the good part about Abby, he is the motive she tried being a good person. Then after two years at a moment when Ellie was with Dina at a farmhouse, Ellie decides that she wants to go after Abby again against Dina's opinion. She founds Abby but she didnt killed her cause she reminded THE LAST moment of her and Joel , and I dont know if it was intentionally but she was mad at Joel 2 years as she was at Abby. So after 2 years she finally says to Joel that she is ready to forgive him and that she will be seeing him arround. That moment absolutely broke me cause with was so sad. Thats why I think the game is about forgivness, because of Ellie s revenge she gets left with nobody, Abby gets all her friends killed. Joel who didn t care about humanity and murdered an entire hospital gets hated by Elllie. His death was even sadder that it was right after Ellie was ready to forgive him, I DON T GET WHY PEOPLE COMPLAIN IT IS BAD. The first scene of the game was actually Ellie's dream because she was ready to forgive him and that was a moment when they were in the middle of being close and disconected. I love how the guitar is a conection between them because of that first scene. The last scene actually left me thinking she was ready to leave the memories about him behind and get back to her life.
    SO the story is very good, I don t need to talk about the combat cause is soo good the exploring is much better the graphics, the views
    So my rating for The Last of Us Part II is 9,7/10
    stop hating it cause Joel didn t die how or when you wanted. I feel like some people liked the first game and got the impression that now they know everything about writting. I can tell you that the first game had some bad **** in it as well, I mean Tess death doesn't serve other purpose other than for Joel to continue his journey with Ellie cause otherwise he wouldn't have done that. But then anyway he decides to let her with Tommy so yeah Tess death was just as Jesse and Yara death. Sam and Henry the same I mean it s sad and everything but even after seeing it has no impact in the final decision of Joel at the end at the hospital so yeah we can now ,if the user s socre say so, stay and find some bad **** in every video game rather than seeing what it's beautiful about them.     The game is great and i've actually finished it.
    Other than some minor pacing issues this game is a step up from everything that made the first one great. Can't wait to see what ND does next on PS5.

    MASTERPIECE and all the bad reviews as usual are just to give major spoilers and try to shade another brilliant playstation exclusive, great mechanics, excellent gameplay, great action scary sequences, story keeps u atracted, 100/100 if u read the game is bad cuz Ellie is gay, stop reading cuz he doesnt know anything about the videogame

    TLOU2 is hard to review.... But did the job..

    This is yet another experience I hesitate to call a game. The craftsmanship and polish is unlike anything I've ever seen before.

    I don't think I've ever been more affected by a video game emotionally in my life and I don't think I will for quite some time. The characters are more genuine than ANY other zombie style form of media and the direction from Neil Druckman is absolutely masterclass.

    Ellie's character developed between games exactly as you would expect growing up in that world and her actions became increasingly deplorable. You see why she is so filled with hate at the lack of real closure and the survivors remorse she feels knowing her life will never be worth more than what was stolen from her in the original entry.

    When Istarted the game I thought some of the criticisms and negativity I'd heard must have some credence and earnestness to them but the more i played the better I understood the types of people that give this game a low score are unfortunately lacking emotional intelligence. Something I've seen becoming more and more prevalent, and it's devastatingly disheartening.

    People so often lack the mental acumen to be able to discern a dark and harrowing tale from a "BaD StOrY" and it shows. I've read so many 0 or 2 star reviews saying things are just thrown together or make no sense and I just have to shake my head in sorrow at how far these people missed the mark. It's not a case for opinions, it's that this is such a mature, evocative tale that so many people (still a minority, however vocal) simply lack the ability to appreciate...

    I could spend an afternoon detailing everything this game does right, but these things must be experienced for yourself and it was far more important for me to volcalise my thoughts on the negativity this game received and quantify exactly why.

    TLDR-
    Simply put, you wouldn't expect everyone to be able to provide a worthwhile opinion on stem cell research, so you shouldn't expect everyone to be able to provide a worthwhile opinion on an experience that does so much over it's lengthy journey.    … Expand

The moment the player gets that sinking feeling of sadness and despair, they now become Ellie and all of the conflicting feelings the player experience the rest of the way. A feat like this is extremely rare in gaming. A huge kudos to Naughty Dog and everyone involved.     I'ld go with an 9,5/9,6. So I think a 10 is closer to the game's grade in my opinion.

    Such a grate game, one month since I've played and I still catch myself think about it.
    Amazing graphics, superb map design, incredible gameplay, realistic cutscenes, perfect soundtrack and sound effects. The story might desappoint some, but in my opinion it is very valid and groundbreaking

    I can’t understand all the hate this game is getting. I understand that a specific event may sadden some fans of the original game, but it is no reason to give the extremely low scores.
    No game deserves a 0 out of ten.
    The game is 25-30 hours long. Still, people DESTROY it only few hours after its release. WELL DONE NAUGHTY DOG FOR THE MATURE AND PROFOUND STORY !

    GamePlay bastante fluída e um combate nunca vista no mundo dos games até hoje. A história é bem construída que apesar de ser bem polêmica, trouxe várias reviravoltas e muitas horas de gameplay em deixar bem curioso sobre a trama, com muitos imprevistos.

    Почему высший бал? А почему бы и нет!

    Другие пользователи без основательно занизили оценки этой игры и не потому что там плохой сюжет, графика, есть повестка, персонажи которые не всем приятны... Причина в том что гейм сообщество обижено на Нила Дракмана и ничего более умного они не смогли придумать как насрать заниженными оценками. "Оставьте нас, *****, в покое", так написал Нил в своем обращении к фанатам на негативные высказывания и его можно понять, 7 долгих лет они трудились и вкладывали душу в разработку этой игры, но потом кто-то плюнул этим людям в лицо и слил часть геймплея, после чего игроки стали делать догадки и вырвали все из контекса, чего не стоило делать категорически. На месте студии и Нила я бы отреагировала также, просто очень обидно за команду Naughty Dog. Я еще не успела поиграть, пока нет возможности купить игру, но в ближайшее время обязательно сделаю это, пройду игру от и до и лишь потом поставлю настоящую оценку. Первую часть я проходила впервые в этом году 2020, мне потребовалось пройти ее три раза чтобы оценить по настоящему.

    But moving on to my honest opinion about this game in particular: I think the characters really stood out to me. As in any Naughty Dog game, this one is also very character-driven. Ultimately, this is a story about revenge, hate, and violence, but also about redemption and forgiveness. Yes, I agree that this theme has been heavily used in every entertainment medium, but they rarely do it justice. I can happily say that The Last Of Us Part II has not did justice to the theme itself, but also did stay true to the world, the character development, and the hidden symbology behind this perfectly crafted cyclic narrative (which I will not spoil, but it has to do with the ending itself). All the narrative beats fit perfectly with each other, and it always brings other elements of surprise, right when you think you know what to expect for the ending, another story beat hits you in the face and changes your perspective. Also, you should never go to part II expecting the same thing you experienced in part I. Although that same feeling can be felt through other types of relationships, and some perfect flashbacks, the first one is very different from the second one. Lastly, I just want to say that I think this game will not only define how we all experience video games in the future, but also define how they are engineered, thought, and its story will be discussed and debated for many years to come, just like we did for the first one.

    Deeper than the first, refined gameplay, present and fun replay factor and the Graphics are a delight for the eyes. The Last of Us Part II is an incredible game for those who are willing to not only play a great game, but to have an experience unlike anything that has been released in recent years.

And I hear metacritic isn't allowing anymore negative user scores. Metacritic is corrupt from removing negative reviews and weighing scores from different outlets differently. This is a test.     Juegazo. A mi también me molestó la muerte de Joel, pero bueno, a fin de cuentas es un juego con temática post-apocalíptica, y puede pasar cualquier cosa. Eso sí, si llegan a hacer una parte 3, espero que le den una especie de redención a Ellie, porque no se merecía lo que le pasó en este juego

    I have to admit, I wasn't sure they could ever make a game as good as the first TLOU. Well, I was wrong... I loved every bit of TLOU 2, and I couldn't stop playing until I got to the end. Completed the game in 3 days, enjoying every detail of it. I understand why it is divisive, the story isn't trying to please the player's expectations. Actually it is quite the contrary. Everything is aI have to admit, I wasn't sure they could ever make a game as good as the first TLOU. Well, I was wrong... I loved every bit of TLOU 2, and I couldn't stop playing until I got to the end. Completed the game in 3 days, enjoying every detail of it. I understand why it is divisive, the story isn't trying to please the player's expectations. Actually it is quite the contrary. Everything is a huge mess, characters are as disoriented as we are, they don't know if they're doing the right thing. Ellie is inconsolable and it's heartbreaking. Of course, the game is emotionally heavy ; you find yourself crying, laughing, at tense quite often.

    It isn't perfect though. I was playing on the PS4 Pro and the console is starting to show its weaknesses regarding resolution and details. Sometimes it is blurry and they use this sort of film grain hiding some imperfections. It didn't bother me actually. I liked it, it gave it a special sheen.

    With that being said, the game still looks amazing and it is a real pleasure to explore all the carefully created environments. Grass, leaves, light reflections, cracks on the walls, everything is a delight to look at.
    The music and sound effects are top notch, my expectations were high coming from the first game : here again, they didn't disappoint. Voice acting is where the game shines in my opinion. It feels real, it feels rough.

    Overall, the world feels very believable. Some choices of the writers change deeply the gameplay and it's refreshing. I couldn't tell what they are without revealing key points of the story, which proves how much gameplay and story are intertwined.
    Then I have to say that the game makes a point to be inclusive : everyone is represented. Women, asians, jews, black, you name it. Well, at times, I had the weird impression they were forcing it a bit, which I could not really comprehend. It's like they were on a mission to make videogames more inclusive, and I respect that : it's great news for this industry. But it will take more than one game to do it, and you shouldn't bruteforce the inclusiveness into your game. Otherwise, it could be detrimental of other aspects of your game, which fortunately isn't the case with TLOU 2.    … Expand

So the gameplay was very strong, I loved it, you have so many ways of taking out enemies, it has improved upon the first game in the gameplay department. The game looks outstanding and the details in it blew my mind. On normal to hard difficulty the game is quite enjoyable to play. My problems start with the story. It has someI have to give this game a 10 because lot of sheeps gave it 0. So the gameplay was very strong, I loved it, you have so many ways of taking out enemies, it has improved upon the first game in the gameplay department. It has some truly amazing moments but sometimes the writing feels forced and in other times characters make some dumb decisions (Lev and Mel). The story is also very drawn out and the characters either not very well fleshed out or they're barely in it.My other big problem is the length: The game is so long that the combat becomes way too repetitive, the enemy placements can be also frustrating at times. I also i don't really recommend the hardest difficulty unless you want the platinum trophy because it is way too unfair.
    Overall if the game was shorter by like 6 hours, they fixed the story a little and they wrote some better characters I would like it more than the first game.    … Expand

The result of their collision is spectacular, but it breaks both of them. Leaving only ripplesA wonderful piece. A masterpiece and icon of a generation. A great story about what revenge can be worth, albeit a well-deserved one.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. When Joel got murdered I was so pissed, I was ready to jump on here and give it a big fat 0 to this game. But once you play and see both sides of the story, if I was to put myself in their shoes I understand their motives. Felt very conflicted towards the end if I wanted Ellie to kill Abby or not, at the end I was ok with either or. Anyhow, love it or hate it is a very complex and detailed story that’s worth experiencing. Everything else in the game is amazing too; graphics, sound are among the best. Great gameplay but even though it might feel repetitive at times, the script is so vast that every encountered feels different as you progress through the story. Thought to be honest gameplay to me was a bit boring, but that’s because I suck at stealth, if I had more creativity I can see how that would been more fun, but I get spotted early on, chose a corner where I can’t be cornered and I blast them all away.     Part 1 gefiel mir schon. Part 2 gefällt mir auch sehr. Kampfsystem etc kaum verändert. In manchen Situation sogar vereinfacht, sodass man das Spiel fast ohne Waffen durchspielen kann. Aber dennoch, solche Spiele bzw. die Entwickler dahinter müssen unterstützt werden damit in Zukunft weitere tolle, bessere Spiele rauskommen.

    As you can see there is a lot of hate for the scenario but to be honest, it's a matter of perspective if you love this story or not. If you have finished the game and you didn't like the way things turned, then do some research why it ended like this.     Where the game really shines (except the story) is the visuals. It has stunning environments, graphics and character design.

    Stunning, can't find the words to describe the beautiful graphics this game has. It is impressive this game runs on a PS4 which has technology from 7 years ago. I got amazed they cared for every detail, the foldings on Ellie's jacket when changing weapons to the spores that can be seen floating in certain places. Speechless.

    Music 10/10
    The music fits perfectly for every situation in this game, very relaxing when taking a ride on horse.. or very stressing during action scenes. The acoustic guitar is a trademark of this game, even there is a mini game where you can play the guitar using the D-pad. I hope someone could play a song with the in-game guitar, could be fantastic.

    Story 10/10
    Ok, there are some way that the story could have take and there are some strange decision of the main protagonists... but hey, that is the story they want us to learn. This world is not perfect nor the people, sometimes you are a hero and sometimes you are the enemy. Put a note of 0 just because you don't like the story is immature. It is told beautifully, so I'm giving it a 10 just the way it is told, not the content or if you like it or not.

    It is truly remarkable game with insane level of graphics, animation, world details, and overall quality. But the most impressive in this game is a complicated, very sad, but excellent story. Story that can make you cry in some moments, and can leave you emotionally exhausted in the end.
    And, eventually, I can say that the The Last of Us 2 doubtlessly is my favorite game of this year.
