    The game runs exceptionally well on the base ps4. I didn't experience a single bug during my entire play-through, nor did i notice any texture pop-ins or any slow downs, which really is amazing considering how absolutely outstanding the graphics and animations are. The art direction and attention to detail is also exceptional.

    I thought the story was great, especially by video game standards where games like Nier Automata is considered having great writing... It is however definitely a bit indulgent in prioritizing story telling over everything else, like in having multiple extended playable flashbacks. And imo the game would have benefited from having some more cynical editors involved.

    The highlight for me is the gameplay, with both the stealth and the action being really great (especially the action). Almost all the fights manage to feel incredibly intense. On paper the gameplay mechanics are very similar to the first game, however it feels entirely different to play and is so much more fun.

    Never have I experienced anything like this in a video game. Although I finished it two weeks ago, it still haunts me. I completely understand why this might not be for everyone, but it definitely worked for me.

    10/10 Everyone has different opinions and I respect them but personally for me TLOU2 is one of the best games I've played. Thank you naughty dog for a amazing but also heartwrenching experience :)

    This is a powerful, emotional, breathtaking game that delivers on all the promise of the first one (which was terrific too but I don't think affected me in quite the same way) It's not a game I'd play for a light bit of shooty fun, but that's quite obviously the point. There were points where I definitely questioned decisions in how the game is structured and how I felt about certain characters, but I was always left convinced. This game treats the player as an adult who can handle characters that are flawed, not instantly likeable or just irritating. Regardless of how I felt initially about characters initially, my thoughts and feelings were constantly changing and being questioned and I felt something for all of them. This game is an experience like no other I've played and while I think it'll be a while before I (if ever) play through it again, I'll never forget this playthrough and it will stay with me forever.

    Ignore the petty backlash from strange men arriving to this game with preconceptions and prejudices, and who have in most cases haven't played it. If you have an open mind and are looking for something to make you question and think about human fallibility, emotional conflict and so on, then definitely pick this up.    … Expand

    True gamers will like this game for sure. This is a truthful sequel. If u don't like the shock. Better play last of us 2. There will be no difference in the story if there is no shock in part 2. last of us 2 is masterpiece

This game deserves the title of masterpiece, I don't think I have experienced such an emotional turmoil for a game ever. Don't let people tell you the story is bad, it's very well written, heart wrenching and deeply disturbing. This game is being smeared due to the majority of player reviews having no life experience, compassion, or any emotional maturity or development at all. I own the collector’s edition, and I thoroughly enjoyed this game. As with most sequels, it is not as good as the first which is why it is not 10/10 but this game is a masterpiece. I played this on my 10 year old tv and it was still visibly stunning.

    I was expecting Joel to be "red shirted" at some point in the game, I was not expecting it so early on in the game. It genuinely ruined my day when that scene played out, and I did stop playing it when that happened, but I continued the next day. But to simply hate, and to send death threats to the actress over an expected fan favourite death is beyond comprehension! It wouldn't have been much of a revenge story if it was Dina who was murdered. We all love Joel, and we all felt the betrayal and anger of the game. Anger is a shared emotion, we share Ellie's anger, and we want to make the WLF pay. Dina to me is more of a minor detail, I was happier to have Jessie along for the ride as he was a much more useful companion, however you get the idea with how delicate Dina is when you compare her early pregnancy symptoms compared to Mel who is heavily pregnant.

    The game is so much more brutal now, and you can be calculating and cruel in your actions. The details that have been put into the game can be missed if you're frothing at the mouth with your mountain dew and Cheeto fingers in your mothers basement REEEing about Abby. When you stealth kill someone, you see the light leaving their eyes, you see the death wash over their faces. If you kill a dog handler without the dog knowing, it whimpers and wines, looking for it's handler. The visible injuries and the gore left behind from the Molotov’s and explosive arrows are harrowing. Especially when the runners are madly crawling after you with no legs - very unsettling and making me board the nope train. The bloasters are **** sted heads, full on cocaine raging at you and are pretty stressful to play against, especially whenever you face them it's always conveniently in a claustrophobic area, similarly to the shamblers.

    I somewhat bonded with Abby, I understood her pain. However I was more warmed to Ellie for obvious reasons. I think Abby doesn't play as smoothly as Ellie, and I think her stealth kill is so much more slower than Ellie's, even whilst fully upgraded. I'm glad her and Owen had their moment, no matter how bitter sweet it was with Mel and how it all ended. You knew that Owen would always carry a torch for Abby, even in death. He chose to not die next to Mel, or attempt to get to Mel, he got as far away from her whilst they both bled out - the mother of his unborn child! I was pissed out with Abby's comment of Ellie and Tommy "wasting the opportunity that Abby gave them by not killing them". The audacity after hunting someone down and killing them, and didn't expect any repercussions - pot, kettle, black.

    I desperately want to know more about the Scars, who their leader was. Not much is revealed even when picking the place apart. It is easily missed that the Scars only started beheading and stoning people and their kind when their leader died. How the new 'elders' allocate many wives to themselves to birth their kin. Terrifying knowing the fate of Len who was chosen at 13 to be a wife to the elder. I would do anything to avoid being trafficked by my community for some vulgar, over grown, overdue being killed, old man who abuses children and women. I am reading between the lines, but it's not a hard connection to make when a CHILD has been allocated a wife role - something we should take into consideration that happens in our world to much younger children. I really do hope that there is DLC about the Scars, or when the long awaited MP that is in the works.

    The ending was bittersweet too. I was sad that it was over. Ellie, grief stricken and taken over by PTSD, forced by Tommy and her PTSD episodes thinking that ending Abby's life would be the key to end their suffering. However upon seeing Abby, a husk of her former self, it wasn't worth the pain and energy. The hurt is from never having the chance to repair her relationship with Joel - a feeling many are familiar with when falling out with someone who then passes away. Hate eats away at you, makes you push those who mean the most to you away. You are then left with the scars of the hatred, unable to enjoy the happy memories that the deceased left you.

    If you cannot understand this concept of the story, then you need to evaluate your life and your relationships with people if you cannot empathise with these emotions.    … Expand

    Truly one of the finest games from naughty dog, The world of the last of us is hopeless, gritty and violent. The game really makes you feel hopeless and throws you into a revenge plot that makes you question your actions.

    game is an emotional rollercoaster all through and it feels as though you can feel every emotion and it feels like you are in the game with them. It’s easy to connect with the characters and I highly recommend it to people who like a challenge and aren’t squeamish. Best game I’ve ever played.

This review will not do the game justice so as a warning please play the game yourself before you read. I tried controlling my excitement as much as possible for the game since I didn’t want to be let down. As a fan of the first game I thought it was important to manage my expectations. I also happen to be one of the people who think the first game had a perfect ending and that game didn’t need a sequel. But after playing this game, oh am I glad they made one. Starting with the aesthetic. The graphics are probably the best I’ve ever seen in any game. I mean it’s expected though, it’s a 2020 game after all and on top of that it’s naughty dog a development team known for their amazing graphics. I also love the film grain, some people don’t even notice it but it gives the game a sort of gritty look which I like. The environments are lush and beautiful as they help give you a feel of the last of us world. And the music, Gustavo Santaolalla tops himself from the first game as the music is even better and honestly this is probably the best soundtrack in a video game and better than some movie soundtracks. I realize how much of a fanboy I’m sounding like but this game is just that good. The gameplay is great. If you like the gameplay in the first last of us, you’ll like it in here as well. It’s not pushing the boundaries of gaming or any thing but it’s perfect for the game. It gives you a feeling of intensity that many other games can’t do. And on top of that it’s smooth, fluid, and fun! There are always dozens of ways you can approach an encounter which adds to the fun and replay ability of the game. Finally let’s talk about the story. The game opens very sombrely and evokes the emotions right away. It’s important to catch up on the first game or you may not feel all of these things. The soberness fades right away as the game kills off Joel right away. People who critique this simply don’t understand what the game was trying to do. This happens to make you feel a certain way. People wanted a clean death for Joel where they feel the loss but the game does that at the end when it wraps things up. You feel an abundance of emotions including anger, confusion, and sadness. If you feel these things, then the game has done its job by putting you in Ellie’s shoes. These feelings drive the rest of the game as you seek revenge which you yourself want since they killed your beloved character. The game takes you on a roller coaster which I can’t get into it all but it’s amazing. Characters like Dina and Jesse have amazing chemistry with Ellie and they’re likeable so you care about them. The acting by the way is phenomenal, again probably the best in a video game. The game then takes a huge risk and makes you play as Abby the person who killed Joel. They make you empathize with her which you would think is an impossible task given the context. And they just pull it all off. With uncomfortable encounters like fighting Ellie as Abby, to heartbreaking scenes like the whole farm sequence. To the final death wish as you play as Ellie at the end it’s an amazing experience which may not work for some people which is okay, the game is meant to be divisive. But for me it worked. Especially the ending with her decision to let Abby go. This ties in to the heartbreaking flashbacks which are some of the best moments in the game with Joel and Ellie. Ellie finally says she would like to try and forgive Joel and just that alone gets Joel teared up, as well as me. So if she could forgive Joel for that then she could respect him and be better than him by letting Abby go. These themes of love, hate, forgiveness are some of the things that make this game great. All of these things are what makes this game great and although it is flawed like any other game, the great things are so great that they make the game perfect for me. Great job naughty dog!… Expand

    It's heart warming, heart wrenching, warm and cold all wrapped into a post apocalyptic hellscape.

    Seeing history from opposite perspectives shows that there are often no villains or heroes but humans with their conflicts, in addition to showing that every story has at least two points of view. Best experience in game.

The directors took the risk of adding totally anti-fan service elements, knowing that they will be hated by a respectful percentage of players. Those elements are there trying very hard to make you feel unprecedented emotions; emotions that only a video game can trigger.

    Not even once during the game did I feel that a certain agenda was being forced on me. Everything felt so natural, so "unimportant" compared to the purpose of the game. Certain sensitive social issues are presented with extreme attention and success. Anyone feeling triggered or annoyed, should welcome themselves to year 2020.

    The Last of Us Part II stands worthily next to the first part as a game that serves its purpose flawlessly. Only Naught Dog could achieve such a feat.    … Expand

    This game is a masterpiece, its a bout what you could live with anger also it tastes you’re empty as human you can hate abby and love joel but you can see that what joel did is wrong and he payed for it the sequel takes the world of the last of us to another kind of level where the it’s not only the infected who are making the world a bad place its the human nature

    I really think a lot of peaple just don't inderstand the story (maybe it was not told perfectly) but with a little effort and thinking you can see a deeper meaning and reasons behind both protagonists. Lots of parallels between them too

The number of times I covered my mouth in shock, or awe, or sadness, or chuckled at the stabs (metaphorical) or stiffened up at the real stabs they took at each other, are countless. The Gameplay mechanics are fluid, and feel so grounded. You feel every shot you take, every dodge leaves your heart throbbing, crawling/sneaking around felt real.
    I'm jealous you get to play this game for the first time. This was an unforgettable experience, and a more than worthy successor to the genius that is The Last of Us.    … Expand

    Mindblowing from start to finish.
    Excellent graphics with improved gameplay that i really enjoyed and still am.
    The story is so perfectly told.
    Druckmann has managed to make us feel for both Ellie and Abby. Showed us both sides of the story and made us ponder for so many things.
    So heartbreaking to watch Ellie being unable to play the guitar, knowing that this was her only thing connecting her to her father figure, Joel.....
    She literally lost everything for the desire to seek revenge.
    There are so many things i wanna say about the story, but i know 5000 words wont be enough.

Besides, the storyline is focused on show that in a world like theirs, there are no heroes, only survivors, and sometimes we have to make a mistake to learn/understand somethings. The political vision is also a controversial theme, once we have today a peak of hatred and prejudice. The developers were very brave by doing a game that many people didn’t want or expect, but what they truly need. I also didn’t mind that it jumped between times and I really enjoyed learning about a new bunch of characters - being that of Abby and the other WLFs. To be fair, I was actually barracking for Abby over Ellie once I got to know her back story a bit more. Looking forward to a part 3!… Expand

He destroyed humanity's last hope of creating a vaccine to eradicate the pandemic and he thought only of himself. The game provides the experience of living the other side of the story, it is said that the story is always told from the point of view of the winner but this does not happen in TLOU2. You step into Abby's shoes, watch your father die for trying to save humanity, of course he would have to sacrifice Ellie's life, but she was willing to pay that price herself. Anyway, the game is incredibly well built, with strong characters, with strong personalities. Blind revenge, and that naughtydog is able to show well in this game.… Expand

    This game has a emotional and thrilling story. To understand the decisions of the characters you have to play to the end of the story. The story is good narrated and the cutscenes are sensible and have a high niveau. The game has a lot of settings for barrier-free. Graphic and sound is fantastic. The gameplay is a matter of taste, but it is a good improvement in contrast the first part.

До середины игры все шло хорошо, а затем у мужа взорвался пукан. Очень сильно. И он бросил игру на середине. Я стала доигрывать, так как денег жалко :) и было интересно, что же будет в конце. Хочу сказать что до момента, как я села играть, я была уверена, что survival вообще не мой жанр и играть я не смогу. Вот серия Uncharted мое, прошла залпом все пять частей. Но! Не тут то было! Я прошла вторую часть до конца, в конце рыдала как не в себя, осталась в восторге от персонажей, геймплея, локаций, боёв, от всего, кроме рваного сюжета. Сюжет непростой, структура повествования намеренно нарушена, чтобы сакцентировать внимание игрока на глубинных темах, что поднимают создатели игры. Это и хорошо, и плохо. Хорошо, с той стороны, что Naughty Dog пытаюсь не просто развлекать, а заставляют думать, переживать, анализировать очень глубоко. То, что они сделали, не делал в индустрии пока что никто, по крайней мере на таком уровне. А плохо это с той стороны, что они не совсем корректно подали историю, разворот на 360 градусов в середине - решение рискованное, подойти к этому нужно было немного иначе, так как мне реально пришлось пересиливать себя, чтобы играть за того, за кого мне предлагали, но миссии, локации и часть новых персов (двое детей) были интересные, а в конце меня вообще смогли повергнуть в шок, я никогда не чувствовала ничего такого, что испытала в финальной битве. Так что игра потрясающая, не могу поставить ниже 10, даже несмотря на упомянутый недостаток. И как следствие - теперь играю в первую часть, а следом заново начну вторую, чтобы полностью уже самой все пройти. :) А история с занижением оценок крайне прозаична: треть от тех, кто вообще не играл и просто любят хэйтить, треть от тех, кто ждал того же, что было в первой части и не хотят никакого развития в играх, треть от тех, кому игра действительно могла объективно не понравится по каким-либо разумным причинам.… Expand

    Great game. Graphic, sound and animations are incredible. The plot is nothing new or original but is masterfully narrated. Maybe 10/10 is too high, probably 9.5 could be better because like any other game isnt perfect.

Несмотря на то, что конфликт между Элли и Эбби завязывается через смерть Джоэла, которого убивает Эбби на глазах у Элли, в процессе развития сюжета игрок начнет сопереживать Эбби и поймет ее мотивацию. В процессе сюжета Элли убивает много друзей Эбби, а Эбби - друзей Элли. Однако, когда у Эбби будет возможность убить Элли во второй раз - она отпустит ее. Элли же, не примирившись со смертью Джоэла и Джесси будет продолжать охотится на Эбби, однако в финальной драке отпустит Эбби.
    В этот момент мнение игроков разделяется, (я играл в компании друзей). Часть из нас решила, что сюжет незаконченный или закончен не правильно. Я же считаю, что все точки над "i" расставлены. Обе героини испытали боль и из-за одержимости местью потеряли много друзей и любимых на пути. Финальный аккорд простого расставания без взаимного убийства, явно говорит о том, что они обе осознали свои ошибки, и если и не простили друг друга, то осознали и поняли. И это разрешает их конфликт - они обе натворили много ужасного, но поняли, что насилие поражает только насилие.
    Считаю такую историю очень грустной, но полноценной и завершенной. Такой сюжет не оставляет вопросов, но еще долго будет перевариваться в мозгу. Игрок будет прокручивать сюжет за обеих героинь снова и снова пытаясь собрать больше информации о каждой из героинь и найти оправдания их действиям. И когда больше не останется "закоулков", в которых скрыты секреты, игрок придет к мысли, что это должно было закончится именно так.

    Шикарный, глубокий, очень напряженный, многогранный и необычный сюжет.

    The death of Joel has been said to be disrespectful were as in actual fact it is realistic and fits in with the world and law of the last of us. It was also very ballsy and ambitious from naughty dog which stopped the game from being just a carbon copy of the first game.

    The game has also gained criticism for having to play as Abby for the lions share of the game this is probably from close minded people who didn’t give it a proper chance your supposed to hate Abby and hate having to play with her but then you grow to love her due to her Joel esk character development. , they did horrible things in their past Joel was a hunter like the ones we see in Pittsburgh he “did what he had to do to survive” and he doomed the whole world with his selfish decision at the end of the first game Joel is not a hero but we see him become a better person and develop due to his bond with Ellie. Abby brutally killed a man in front of his “daughter” with a golf club but she develops as a character through her bond with lev. Also the Abby part of the game has the far superior gameplay and set pieces

    The game is genius in its two Abbie vs Ellie boss fights you don’t want to kill Ellie in the first fight and you don’t want to kill Abby in the last fight it makes you feel a feeling you cannot get in any other form of media wether that be book or a film.

    But the cherry on top for me is the final fight we’re you left to interpret who are you mashing square for is it Ellie trying to drown Abby or is it Abby trying to get Ellie of her

    Some people just wanted to play an extension of the first game. I get it, that game was a masterpiece. The thing is, I think the choices they made make this game a masterpiece too. If there is one critique I have, it's that, even though it is a 10/10 for me, it is so dark and emotionally challenging (even more than the first game) that it loses some replay value. But it is still a masterpiece that I will be thinking about for years to come. Naughty Dog is truly pushing the limits of gaming.

    The people who don't like this game certainly are not taking issue with the gameplay, graphics, music, and level design. In every way except potentially one, this game is far superior to Last of Us Part 1. The level design in particular is far less linear than the first game, and in that sense the replay value is actually much greater. The music somehow takes a step up from the first game too. While the emotional guitar themes are still present, this game adds a Hans Zimmer style soundtrack for those truly epic moments. Not to mention the graphics are truly top notch.

    But that leaves the one way in which Last of Us 1 could arguably be better. What people really loved about Last of Us 1 was the story and the complex characters. This game will live or die by what you think of the story and the characters (which I have combined into one thing here because the story is really about the characters).

    For me, the characters are every bit as good as in the original. There are some truly emotional moments on par with Ellie's speech to Joel in the original (you know the one). There are moments where you can't help but smile, moments where you may cry, and moments where you will certainly gasp. Few games can inspire these reactions like Last of Us 1 and 2. The story is dark, but it puts most Hollywood movies to shame. It will leave you thinking about it for weeks, maybe years.

    If you're on the fence about this game, give it a try. You'll either hate it or think it is a masterpiece, like I do. I applaud Naughty Dog for challenging the conventions of gaming, and not just to be different. I truly believe they challenge conventions here because the first game challenged conventions with its dark tone and conflicted ending. This game is bold because it decides to be different when they could have played it safe and cashed checks for years to come. But the spirit of the first game is still present in this one. If every fan got exactly what they wanted, I'm not sure the spirit of the first game would be there. I'm glad Naughty Dog took this chance, and I hope they are not deterred from doing so again.    … Expand
