But there is no way you can call art this superficial kind of story. Killing Joel just to create a plot is so „artistic“ and „inspiring“ as lunching Crash Bandicoot. Maybe a couple of hours having fun but it certainly didn’t worth killing the greatest franchise ever un gaming history. I wish they have never release Part II. RIP: The Last Of Us… Expand

    I played the game twice, and even if the story wasn’t what I was expecting at all I loved everything about it ! The story is so complex and makes you feel so many things, the attention to detail makes the experience feel so real + the gameplay has improved a lot and also feels extremely good. The graphics are better than some next generation games ! Totally worth it.

    Simply a great game! Fantastic cinematics! And extremely well realized environments and spaces. Great sequel to the truly compelling story of the first game. A couple minor complaints about a boss fight or two and some characters actions vs their motives Outside of that this is just a well made game. Would like to see some multiplayer added.

    This game was wildly emotional, it definitely made bold choices, but it’s a journey and a physiological masterpiece. Yes for many players this has shocked people and upset/ angered them, but I feel many have not read into the game further then the spoilers or base layers and need to truly understand all the characters have more then just a frontal design but morals and emotions.     I respect all of the hardwork made by the developers but sadly they went down with the story.
    I understand all of the sides of the people here. But every other else just had their own taste. This latest installment of TLOU just gave me a long lasting bad taste tho. The most interesting and well rounded character... I really didn’t want to play the game after Joel’s death. It sucked me out of the game quick. Then just the repetitive gameplay afterwards and the tiresome story between Ellie and Dina that I did not care one bit about. And the biggest negative was Abby! Why would anyone want to play 10+ hours as her. I rushed through that part because I did not care for her at all. I hated her and hated playing as her. I felt no sympathy whatsoever. And not being able to kill her at the end made this game even worse. The only positives were that the graphics were phenomenal and the stealth gameplay was fun for awhile but that doesn’t make up for a terrible story in a story based game.… Expand

    Pay no attention to the haters. This game ended up beimg far superior to the much-loved LoU1. Cinematic quality has taken a major step-up and the gameplay is mostly unchanged yet much more fluid.

    It takes LoU1's best qualities and ramps them up 10-fold. The emotional impact is heavier and the message from a complete playthrough is one the world desperately needs to hear right now.

    Epic! Beautiful graphics with fantastic gameplay. Story is logically structured and full of excitement and tension. The game once gives, then takes it all away, and you are left with questions. I love that the game is playing with your emotions, once you love it, then you hate it, then love it again. My favorite game ever!

    Totally incredible! Didn't think they could make anything as good as Uncharted but Naughty Dog have managed it! Storytelling is fantastic and attention to detail is immaculate. If you own a PS4 then buy it!

    People need some help or a change in their life if a video game could make them this upset. Both the homophobes and those upset characters dying, need to chill and just appreciate this game for the work of art that it is. “Storybook” endings and glorified hero stories rarely reflect real life btw. Oh and playing this game is a must.

How Naughty dog managed to ruin a beautiful story with unnecessary propaganda is just beyond me. The characters are unbearable, story doesn't make any narrative sense whatsoever. I wonder if the writer of the game was a complete idiot. Even fan stories would have made much sense than these incoherent mess of story telling with pointless and unlike a le characters. The game play is nothing much to brag about. Slightly modification from the first but I never played the last of us for its game play.

    O jogo é simplesmente uma obra de arte! A jogabilidade é excelente, os gráficos são lindos, a progressão é ótima e a imersão é de tirar o fôlego. Recomendo demais que joguem! Agora só me resta platinar... o que não parece ser tão difícil.

    После Ведьмака 3 и RDR2 в такое невозможно играть, просто не воспринимаешь как игру.
    Героев просрали, стелс унылый,боевка унылая, только графика радует, но на графике одной не уедешь.
    Сюжет дерьмо полное и если ты думаешь, что я его не понял, то ты глубоко ошибаешься. Сюжет есть в рдр2 и герои там есть, ведьмаке и во многих други играх, а в этой игре сюжет дерьмо и герои тоже. Спасибо    После Ведьмака 3 и RDR2 в такое невозможно играть, просто не воспринимаешь как игру.

The graphics are amazing and the scenery is just beautiful. The story was alright. Most of the new characters are boring and the old ones are not recognizable. The gaming experience is very nice but as a last of us sequel the story was a bit disappointing. Obviously, it is their story and they can decide whatever they want. But throughout the game I was constantly doubting the characters weird decisions and it didn't feel believable.… Expand

    This was a fantastic game and one that every PS4 owner should play. The gameplay was rich and fast paced with an unconventional and inclusive story. It was every bit as harrowing as the last, if not more so - I genuinely found myself recoiling in some scenes with my moral compass spinning. Truly an uncomfortable masterpiece!

    Just finished, and so many emotions. For me the saddest thing is it's not something I think I will ever want to play again. The 1st one I've played and finished a few times. And I've raved about it to friends and got them to play. This one is more of a 'you have to play' if you played the 1st, but be prepared for a gut punch, and don't expect a happy ending. But I guess that's life. AndJust finished, and so many emotions. For me the saddest thing is it's not something I think I will ever want to play again.     The last of us part 2 is not a perfect game, it has a few notable issues such as pacing in some areas, a couple of underdeveloped side characters, 1 or 2 small instances of plot armour, looting that isn't quite good enough for how much of it you do and somewhat wonky ally AI. I also understand why this game is so controversial and why a number of people really don't like this game,The last of us part 2 is not a perfect game, it has a few notable issues such as pacing in some areas, a couple of underdeveloped side characters, 1 or 2 small instances of plot armour, looting that isn't quite good enough for how much of it you do and somewhat wonky ally AI. I also understand why this game is so controversial and why a number of people really don't like this game, however, for me it has been one of the most affecting pieces of media that I have ever experienced. It is a game that is unafraid to take risks and do things that will make many players angry and uncomfortable. It also deals with the first games ending in a far more ground level, human way than most people expected and wanted, but I think that is what this series is all about and so I personally love it. This game is more about building dissonance between the player and its playable characters over time in order to get the player to question how well they ever even knew these characters in the first place. At times it has its characters do some awful things and sometimes even forces the player to press the buttons. This (hopefully) causes the player to feel disgusted, as they not only have to accept that the story this game is telling is not theirs, but the characters - but also become happy that this isn't their story. This is a game about the dark side of love, in contrast to the first game, and explores how this can cause tribalism, extreme violence and how it leads us to dehumanise others, resulting in endless cycles of war and hate, which I think is very prevalent after some of the events that transpired this year. But for me, this games most important themes were those of purpose and forgiveness. This game explores all the struggles of forgiving someone, but also the positive consequences that it can bring. It is also a game all about people who feel like they lack purpose latching onto anything they can to feel worth something and chasing that thread until it damn near kills them. Characters in this game become increasingly self destructive over time, and increasingly start making irrational but ultimately very human decisions as the game goes on. This can become frustrating but plays into that idea of dissonance and, for me at least, has a huge emotional pay off. The ending of this game is also a controversial one, but one that i think makes perfect sense when taken in the full context of the game and one that affected me very deeply which is why I love it. This ending, I believe, is also actually a more hopeful ending than the first games, despite appearing much more grim on the surface. This is a game that demands your full attention at all times and makes big asks of the player, with its hardest game being one that has to be played using your heart and not your controller, and it absolutely will not work for everyone, but if it does work for you then this game becomes surprisingly deep, and incredibly affecting piece that I don't think I will ever forget.

    As far as the gameplay is concerned, there are no huge leaps from the first game but a lot of small additions and improvements that really add up. Improvements to progression, AI, level design, enemy variety, game feel, mobility, stealth and enemy interactivity as well as the additions as prone, dodging and new craftables among other things really all work together to make an incredibly tense, scrappy gameplay experience quite unlike anything else out right now, and probably the best experience ive ever had with a TPS outside of MGSV and the 2 recent hitman games. Though there are a couple instances of small pacing issues where it felt like one style of gameplay was going on for too long, which does hamper things a tiny bit.

    Presentation wise this game is predictably incredible. In terms of raw graphics, this is almost certainly the best looking game ever, and even when taking art style into account its still right up there for me. The sound design is absolutely incredible and the music is insanely good. This game also has by far the best animations of any game ever and its not even close. The performances in this game may also be the best in any naughty dog game, which is an absolutely **** ridiculous feat.

    This games accessibility options are also so far ahead of any other game right now, and worthy of huge praise for just how many people will be able to comfortably play this game unassisted when usually that would be impossible.

    It's also worth mentioning the ridiculous amount of tiny details in this game that help bring the world to life. Botw and rdr2 have finally been surpassed and its incredible just how much work must have gone in to this game.

    Overall, the last of us part 2 is an easy 10 for me, being easily one of my favourite games of the gen and possibly even one of my favourites of all time. I still like the first game a little bit more overall, but for the right person this game is more worth your time than almost anything else out there.    … Expand

I think the best way to kick this review off is to acknowledge that I understand how the majority of the audience for this game has been disappointed in the fashion that they have, and that of course each and every player is entitled to enjoy (or not enjoy) the content for their own reasons.

    The game is a masterpiece, and while the experience I was given was vastly different to the one I believed that I had coming, I still fell in love with the game. The game has a hugely emotional and challenging plot-line, beautiful visuals, graphics and character designs, an amazing musical score and soundtrack including sensational voice-acting, has huge nods and developments from the first installment, and what I believe can be overlooked at times, a huge play-through experience for a linearly based game. I don't think anyone can disagree with the points regarding the look and feel of the game, obviously most of what separates opinion can be found within the narrative decisions we experience.

    The tone of the game is dark, raw and brutal. The atmosphere of the game from start to finish is tense, uncomfortable and desperate, and the characters we follow reflect living in a world of these themes. Ellie and Abby are two sides of the same coin, and their character development is interlinked around their pathways of revenge for their loved ones, with both having huge sacrifice and pain along their journeys. We as the audience are thrust into this story of hatred and brutality by experiencing Abby as a character, and having our wants for vengeance denied.
    This story is in stark contrast to the original TLOU, as we experience Ellie and Joel safe and their relationship intact at the conclusion, with seemingly the threat to this gone. In the TLOU Part II we have these same feelings of satisfaction for our characters crushed, but at the hands and actions of themselves.
    Joel has done horrible things to many people in the world of the TLOU, as much is made clear by himself, he was a hunter and targeted innocents prior to TLOU's events. He expects his past to catch up with him, especially in reference to his hospital massacre, not only in the sense of those wanting to exact revenge, but in the form of Ellie uncovering the truth.
    Abby's story is exactly that of Ellie's following the death of Joel; one of revenge. We see Abby throughout her younger years unable to let go of the death of her father, and purses this as Ellie does. Her father was a good man, and was killed unnecessarily, but she loses so many more people in her search for this vengeance.
    Ellie loses a huge part of herself when she loses Joel, similarly to Abby and her father; their relationship had so much more growing to do. Her quest for revenge is untamed and visceral, and in the end Ellie comes barely to grips with herself that her killing Abby won't change what has happened, despite all of those she has killed before.

    The characters do not have a controlled focus behind their actions, they are operating off desperate and primitive measures. The story does not deliver to us what we wanted, and the story does not give those what we believe they deserve, but that does not make it a bad story.
    I was crushed that Joel was murdered. I was disgusted that we had to sympathize with his Abby. I was left empty that we were denied Ellie's revenge. But I love that this game made me feel, and feel hurt. I loved every minute of this game and will need something truly special to be convinced anything is ahead of it.
    I applaud Naughty Dog and all of those involved in the creation of this game, for taking a chance on their audience and giving us an experience to remember. The detail and intricacies within the game show me a level of respect and enjoyment the people developing it had, and I truly hope that the negative response initially received will not challenge their creative output in the future. I'm far from religious but 'if somehow the lord gave them a second chance at making this game, I would hope they do it all over again.'    … Expand

The combat is clunky and camera positioning is beyond awful at the worse times. The amount of detail that went into the game is crazy you walk pass a tree with snow on it and the snow falls off the footprint in the snow or when you kill someone in water the way the blood will spread in the water looks so beautiful and realistic. I love the story of this game I think Joel got the story he deserved in this game. I think killing Joel off was the right thing to do as his story of redemption is done if they kept Joel alive and did what they did in the first game they would be milking the cow dry. I think the way Abby killed Joel was the perfect way for the story she killed him in such a brutal way that it make us as the player so angry that we want to go and kill Abby in the slowest way possible. Walking through Joel's house was one of the saddest parts of the game as we saw that Joel had a life he had hobbies. Then when we set of to Seattle to hunt down Abby and her friends we are so to kill her and her friends for what they did to joel. I like how on the way we find people who were in Jackson when Joel got killed been beaten to death by Tommy. Then as we get further on on the game and we start to kill WLF soldiers and we hear their friends crying out there names it then starts to take and emotional effect on us as we then realize all these people we are killing have a life have a family and hobbies just like joel. I love the flashback parts of the game with Ellie and Joel they were the best bits of the whole game. Then when we get to the second half of the game and we have to play as Abby I was like why God why I don't want to play as Abby but I picked up the controller and carried on playing as I started to play with Abby more and more I really started to like her and her friends and got really close to them and when we find them dead because Ellie killed them I would feel really upset about. Then when we find out that the head surgeon who Joel killed in the first game was Abby dad when then feel really bad for Abby and realize why she killed Joel in such a brutal way. I love the story of Abby and Lev on how Abby fells like now it her job to protect Lev and teach him how to stay safe in this world. Then when we got to the farm house after Abby killed Jesse and nearly killed Tommy, Dina and Ellie we then see Ellie and Dina are living in a farm house together with Dina and Jesse baby who they called JJ like most people I thought it was going to end here and Ellie and Dina would live happily ever after but then Elle goes into to shed to heard sheep up and one lamb knock over a spade and Ellie and flashback of Joel death so we learn that Joel's death is still consuming Ellie. When we saw Tommy came and visited Ellie and Dina and told Ellie about Abbie's where abouts and Dina say she not doing that anymore then later that night Ellie get ready to set off to find Abby and Dina say if she leave Dina won't be back waiting for her. I felt really sad learning that revenge has totally overthinking Ellie life. Then when we cut back to Abby and Lev and they make contact with fireflies and then they get kidnapped by rattlers and I started to worry about Thier safety then when Ellie find Abby and Lev and cut them down and we see Abby and lost her normal muscular physique and she now skinny and weak we really start to feel bad for her. Then when Ellie demand Abby that they fight to the death and put her knife to Lev throat we are like Ellie no let them go and then when Abby and Ellie start fighting even though Abby didn't want to and then when Ellie was drowning Abby and Abby bit Ellie fingers off and the as Ellie was drowning Abby and got a flashback to Joel and let Abby up to breathe and let Abby live was so happy that Ellie realize that revenge doesn't do any good all that would happen is someone would hunt Ellie to kill her for killing abby. Then when Ellie got back to the farm house and couldn't play her guitar and had a flashback to her and Joel last conservation and we learn that Ellie was going to try and forgive Joel it made me feel really sad for Ellie and we learn that Ellie biggest fear has now become true her alone now and off to Jackson to try and fix her relationship with Dina.     Outer Worlds also had a side-story containing something similar, but so much more tasteful made. Did not need to repeat it in almost every verbal interaction to get the point across, as TLOU 2 did.
    Ending was stupid and pointless, after all that death and destruction for the purpose of killing someone, to just let them go? C'mon...

    Get a better screenwriter, IF there will be a 3rd one. Although, if you actually look around ,you'd realize that so many of the old fans have given up on this game and potentially this company. That includes me as well.
    Games magazines may praise it as long as they want, Metacritic may delete the comments that they consider to be hate-filled, but they all tell a general story of how the ones that actually paid for the game, us, players, are highly dissatisfied by what was thrown at us.    … Expand

    Story story story, the original was loved by many because of the story, this was basically a crappy revenge movie you would find on Netflix. Gameplay was the same as the original, graphics are breathtaking.

    The best storytelling game ever! Many games caused my tears with their narration, but TLOU2 .... After passing it, my soul ached to me (in a good way), I sobbed bitterly! I am grateful to the development team for this masterpiece!

    This is one of the worst games of the generation, they ruined everything that could be ruined in it. The best moment is when you play with Joel. Neil didn't have to listen to any crazy people, but think with his own head, in the end he made Mass Effect Andromeda

    I feel compelled to rate this game due to the unnecessary hate it has recieved. The fact that it has 129k user reviews in 1 month is ridiculous. The game is fantastic, and it continues the story from the 1st game. It is dark, bleak and truly scary in some parts. I highly reccomend this game

Its like movies where the climax didn't turn out like you expected but so many are critically acclaimed.Instead it took a dark turn. But playing this game was one of the best things I have ever done. If you feel you can't tolerate playing as cold or heartless people, gruesome zombies, ext violence then you must not even touch it. And if you have played Last of us part 1, I know you hoped for a positive directions or found so many loop holes, but i guess it made sense to me. You have to really take it as a game and enjoy. There are so many theories explanations given in podcast by the game creators and actors. So see them and understand. Experience this game gives is not like anyother. Love it or hate it.. but it is one of the top games to be played for ps4.… Expand

    I think the first game will forever hold a place in my heart and definetly feel let down by the second. This is certainly not the direction I would of liked to see the story go. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
