    Tired mechanics, awful story. There isn't a likeable character in the game and normally I can over look bad writing for good gameplay but it's nothing games haven't done before but often executed better in other titles

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I love TLOU, characters, story, and gameplay through and through. Naughty Dog has made an incredible achievement with the sequel. By the time the credits rolled I never wanted to see Ellie or Abby ever again. The tit for tat exchange whereby Abby only lives because she spared Ellie is weak, I don’t have a better way to say this. Forcing the player to understand the antagonist was a grueling and horrid experience. Abby’s own friends in game wish she would just leave and die before she ruins anymore lives. Then after the weak theater scene Ellie throws away what little life she has left. By the time the credits roll she is incapable of playing the guitar, losing the last link she shared with Joel, she is just a lost hopeless shell.… Expand

    While the gameplay mechanics and graphics are second to none, the writing is far from that.

    To lazily write a story full of plot holes and contradictions for one of the most anticipated exclusives for Sony, you have to either be bold or ignorant.

At first they kill Joel and then the whole game rotates around us finding Abby who killed Joel and getting revenge but then they force you to play with Abby even tho you want her dead and THEN they force you to fight Ellie with Abby which happens and Abby gets away with killing Jesse so you go AGAIN to try and find her and kill her to get it over with so at the last scene as she was taking her last breath Ellie let her go SO WHY DID YOU GO AFTER HER IN THE FIRST PLACE the game literally had nothing that makes sense nothing was achieved but Ellie losing her fingers and friends along the way terrible game… Expand

Un juego de lo más esperado y de los más sobrevalorado, las expectativas eran altas y la realidad un muro con el que te vas a topar si te gustó el primer juego, es un juego que recomiendo jugar cuando menos de 10 € de segunda mano, no merece pagar los 70 euros que cuesta, una gran muestra de que precio y valor son conceptos completamente distintos. Un desastre a nivel de personajes, argumento, además de una historia completamente deformada carente de vida, toda el argumento está completamente desordenado y metido a la fuerza, han buscado contentar a varios públicos y como resultado del mismo han obtenido un producto mediocre a nivel argumental, cabe destacar que a nivel gráfico es maravilloso, con nuevas mecánicas de juego, aunque peca de ciertos escenarios y situaciones que llegan a ser abusivamente repetitivos y aburridos en algunos puntos.… Expand

    All trailers and pre-game release interviews for the last of us 2 advertised gameplay as being just Ellie. A huge portion of this title is played as another character that took away from experience. The story felt slow, and gameplay was repetitive at times. The marketing was misleading, and the story was sub par. I have yet to replay this game after beating it shortly after release. The answer is very simple, and it does not only concern the ground level plot and how it is awfully slammed inside the game chronologically speaking, but even all the terrible actions that Naughty Dog and Sony made when the leaks came out.     Я почувствовал вкус говна во рту. Спустя 4 года, это не то что я хотел увидеть. Я почувствовал как будто бы меня предали. Naughty Dog, какие лесбухи?!? Вы там рехнулись?! Слов мне не подобрать.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game was hard to digest and that's what made it so good. This experience will stick with me for a long time.

    tl;dr Graphics, Sound, Design are great. Stealth gameplay is amazing, almost groundbreaking. Most controversial is the story, which was the best part for me and I'll explain.

    For reference: Long time gamer. My last two favorites were Witcher 3 and Sekiro.

    The graphics are masterful. The world is designed in such great detail that you really feel like you are walking through the ruins of the real world. The same goes for animations. Remember when there was a trailer for the Division and everybody lost their minds about a car door being closed when you dodge past it? This game is full of this stuff. Character animations are crazy. It goes so far that I'm still trying to get used to the new game I'm playing, because it actually looks quite ugly in comparison, even though it came out later. All this and the game still performs flawlessly. Really, hands-down technically the greatest game that will ever run on PS4.

    Graphics/Animation/Design 10/10

    Sound design is also very well done. Beautiful well-fitting music, voices and ambient sound. You get used to it very fast. It's perfect.

    Game design. In explorer mode, you run around the beautifully crafted world and find small stories, resources and upgrades. Compared to other games the pace is quite slow but never tedious. Similar to Red Dead Redemption 2. It's very atmospheric and there are moments where you just take it all in or sneak around apartments checking every corner. The puzzles are ok.
    The "stealth" sections are really "get through this in any way you want" sections. I recommend trying to no-kill sneak as much as possible. This game has one of the best stealth gameplay. One awesome aspect is that the "you are being seen" cue is audio-only. You don't know where you are being seen from. It is intense. You sneak closely past some enemies and you hear the cue. You go faster, you hear them shouting and you break into a sprint dodging bullets. It's awesome. It is dirty stealth. Sometimes you have to distract a bunch of guys with a makeshift grenade, headshot a guard with your bow and run. You hear the shouts behind you "Damn, someone killed, Debbie. They are here spread out.", but you are already gone. You can also choose a more violent approach. In that case, you have plenty of options to prepare ambushes. Make sure to watch your angles. Enemies are pretty smart and catch you from behind easily. It is a ton of fun.
    Boss fights are pretty straight forward. Here's a big guy, shoot/hit him dead. I've seen more original fights.
    Cutscenes with quick-time events are unnecessary. Most annoying are the "illusion of choice" parts where you have to press a kill button to progress. I guess that is supposed to make you feel like you pulled the trigger. Doesn't work for me. These are small complaints, and there's only a few occasions where you fight bosses or do quick-time events.
    Gameplay 9/10

    First off it is not an epic hero story. The characters join in a brutal circle of revenge and killing that pushes them to the absolute brink and leaves them hollow, having lost literally everything over revenge. It left me hollow as well. The ending is soul-crushing.
    A lot of people complain about Joel's death and that you play his killer. This was new to me too. I thought that they wanted to make me sympathize with Abby and didn't buy it at all. In the end, I found that they just show you how two people break apart in the post-apocalypse. They boiled down the concept of revenge to its pure essence. They could turn around and just return to their lives, but they continue, consumed by revenge and it breaks them. Ellie loses everything, even the ability to play the guitar Joel gave her. That last picture of her walking away still gives me chills. I hope there is some sort of redemption for her.
    The fight between Abby and Ellie is something new too. I was never so satisfied to lose. I didn't even try sometimes. I'm like "Well done kiddo, you go and kill that ****". I finished only with hopes that there's some way for Ellie out of it. Also, the way people just die in a millisecond in front of you without any glamour is pretty cool and post-apocalypse.

    I get why some people can't take it. However, some of the other reviews are downright atrocious 0 points because Abby is a muscle girl, because there's some side story that involves a trans kid or because Ellie is lesbian.
    Sorry, that's just not acceptable. In my opinion, it is also pretty weak to critique a story because you didn't get your way. Kind of like giving Game of Thrones 0 points for the red wedding and not for the last season

    The story was consistent, well developed and touched me emotionally. That's what I like to feel. Unexpected, new, intense, exhausting 10/10

    First, I have to say, I absolutely love this game. From the phenomenal graphics, for me its the best looking Game on PS4 next to Red Dead Redemption 2, with an absolute incredible sound design and incredible shocking details in the environment, to the frightening but brilliant atmosphere and the brilliant told story, I love every single aspect of this game. This game wont make you happy. But it dont wants to. Ive you want to play a light, fun entertaining Game then play the Uncharted series, also absolute great games. This game is nothing for weak minds. The game tells a story of revenge in a way I never saw before in another game. So I absolutely recommend it. Ive you look at the game apart from the first game, its absolutetly incredible. Dont listen to the frustrated fans. But this is my opinion. I accept it, when someone criticizes the game at hand of examples. But just to say 'the story is boring and the characters are bad!! ' without any reason doesn't counts and is just stupid. The only really small thing i would critize is that the game at some points is a little bit to long and could have been shorter at some points. But in comparison to the positive aspects this nearly doesnt matters.… Expand

    Смерть Джоэла дала Элли смысл жить дальше, ради того чтобы отомстить Эбби, а отпустила она её, потому что она понимала, что больше нет смысла мстить, ей нет смысла больше держать Джоэла и нужно отпустить его душу.

    А чувство пустоты и было задумано в этой игре. Нил Драккман это не тот человек который создаст очередную игру про битву с боссом, нет. Он создал то, что не подумал бы создать иной человек. Он показал то, как месть портит и уничтожает человека внутри. А когда узнаешь о своём враге и о его прошлом, то уже убивать его и желание пропадает.

    Personally, I hold The Last of Us parts 1&2 near and dear to me. I believe it's a ground breaking game that shook my to my core story wise. The graphics are phenomenal, they're dark and dirty, not letting you shy away from the spiteful acts your committing. The game play was absolutely amazing in every sense. Such a complex and emotion churning game, I wish I could experience it all overPersonally, I hold The Last of Us parts 1&2 near and dear to me.     The characters were so well developed, humanised and dehumanised in a manner that even the simplest minded bigot could understand. They don't paint anyone to be the hero and show the good and the bad in everyone. There's no good guys and bad guys in this game as seeing all parts of the story shows one that no one is really a hero, no one is really a villain, it's all up to perception. People do good things and bad things and Naughty Dog's "The Last of Us Part II" depicts it perfectly.

    Not to mention the consistent representation of LGBTQ+ throughout parts one and two. It's nice to feel seen and represented in such a manner.

O console se não estiver em um abiente aberto pode esquentar e fazer um pouco de barulho, tem uma gameplay fluida e dinamica com novas mecanicas. a história não me desapontou nem um pouco, pelo contrario, me surpreendeu me fazendo sentir o amor e o ódio que os personagens passaram. O tempo de jogo é um pouco grande para um jogo linear de história
    as vezes sendo cansativo propositalmente; tendo um bom final.
    Um dos melhores jogos que já joguei.

    Naughty dog let player playing Abby, meeting Abby’s father trying to save a zebra, but want to kill Ellie who was a normal human 1 minuter later. Fu*king Naughty Dog who forces player to play this bit*h a long long time from Seattle Day 1!
    Naughty Dog made this did nothing but just to torture his fans. Naughty Dog was even trying to make fans start liking Abby by playing with dogs which Ellie killed? Torturing us by humanizing the one that brutally murdered our favourite character. The author needed to go to psychiatric hospital!

    Fu*k Naughty Dog!!! Why Ellie don't use the shotgun to revenge when she was in the pillar??!! Why the flashback came out when that bit*h was almost going to die????

I enjoyed the narrative even though I felt some parts late into the game dragged. I do feel they improved on the first one with in most ways there is a free roam section I loved and wish they included more. Definitely worth playing regardless.… Expand

The game has outstanding graphics, and the gameplay is good, pretty much the same as the first, but they added a dodge button and modified the jump and crouch button, so gameplay and graphics are great. However, the story? It was a disaster, it's as if the writers had no idea where to go with the story when writing it. Not only are the decisions that the characters make in the game stupid, but the whole plot itself is just dumb. A basic summary of it is that Joel is killed by some buff lady with a golf club named Abby, right after he saves her from being eaten by runners. You then spend half the game playing as Ellie to hunt down Abby and everyone else involved in Joel's death. Ellie has pretty much killed all of Abby's friends halfway in the game, then by sheer luck, Abby finds Ellie using a map that "Ellie" left behind after killing 2 of Abby's friends. Abby then kills Ellie's friend Jessie, then we're left on a cliffhanger as the screen goes to black. We now play half the game as Abby, we are forced to play 10 hours as her and empathize with her, which is incredibly difficult considering how psychopathic she is, then she hunts down Ellie and we're at the part where the cliffhanger left off at. Abby shoots Tommy, and beats Ellie to a pulp, but spares her for some reason. A year later, Ellie is living at a farmhouse, and Tommy, who has lost an eye, comes by with a lead on Abby. Ellie refuses at first, but changes her mind last minute and decides to pursue Abby in the middle of the night. She finds out Abby is being held prisoner by some bandits, so she kills over dozens of bandits just to get to Abby, and finds her tied up to a post. She cuts her free, instead of killing Abby on the spot, then makes a last minute decision to try and kill Abby again, but spares her, because of a 2 second flashback of Joel sitting on his porch. You would think that if anything, the flashback would motivate her, but it didn't, it somehow convinced her that killing Abby wasn't worth it, and "revenge is bad".

    The game started off bad by rushing Joel's death and killing him off in a crappy way, then it got even worse when we were forced to play 10 straight hours as Abby. Playing half the game as her was completely pointless, and I felt no progress with her section, it just felt like a chore to do. Also, just when you think Abby (Joel's killer) is finally about to die (which is what the whole game was leading up to), she gets spared, because a 2 second flashback of Joel sitting on his porch is enough to convince Ellie that revenge is bad, like really? You couldn't have realized that when you were killing dozens of people just to get to Abby. It's just ridiculous. Oh, and you want to know what started this all? The only reason that Joel died is because he killed some random NPC surgeon at the end of the first game. Yeah, that nameless NPC surgeon that you can kill in 5 seconds is all of a sudden a major character, and that random surgeon just happened to be Abby's father. That is just very lazy writing.

    After playing tlou2, it makes me realize that a sequel was completely unnecessary, and that the first game was better off the way it ended. The game is supposed to be a story driven game, but the story is horrendous, the dialogue can be outright cringy at times, and the characters in this game are nothing like the first game. Ellie keeps walking back and forth on decisions, and also ends up making some stupid decisions, and Joel and Tommy were just outright stupid. In the first game, Joel and Tommy were paranoid and cautious, but in the second, they're not cautious at all. Especially the part of the game with Abby (which is long) has the player wandering around scavenging and occasionally shooting zombies. Never has a story been less interesting. Personally I skipped almost all cinematics because I didn't care about the origin story of Abby or whoever irrelevant character.

Because the game or Joel sure don't, after all, if Joel doesn't let his guard down and magically lose all his weapons the game can't abide by **** fantasies and kill him off only 2 hours into the game.

    Ellie's depiction in this game is so sad I honestly believe Neil personally hates her. Not only does she have to watch her surrogate father die in front of her, witness Tommy loses his eye, and is abandoned by her girlfriend who also takes everything they had in their house.     Gorgeous game, but man some plot holes take me out of the world, and in turn question in the end what was the point of the first and then 2nd. First one ended on a tragic but beautiful rationalization, this one is just tragic with happy moments of the past. Like it wants to be more than the first game, but still live beyond ot. And its story suffers for it unfortunately.

Without even touching the story, the gameplay and graphics are absolutely insane. The little things like being able to pass through a gap between 2 bookshelves is small but it makes the game so much more realistic. The AI was a perfect difficulty in my opinion. They actually required you to THINK if you wanted to play it sneaky. They didnt notice you from 5 feet away, watch you crouch back into some tall grass and shrug: "must have been the wind." Every bullet they took led to the proper bodily response and it was incredibly immersive.

    So let's talk story you ass hurt mother f***ers. Honestly, I don't know how you DIDNT think Joel would die? He made a selfish decision and chose his own relationship with someone he viewed as a daughter over the entire human race. Was that decision just supposed to go unpunished? "Well, I just hated how they killed him so horribly and brutally and made me play as the character who did it." Holy s**t folks, the POINT was to make you mad. Not one person started playing that game and thought they liked Abby. It was black and white at that point. She murdered the person we all loved in cold blood. That was it. We felt the same anger Ellie did and we wanted revenge. The game wanted to take this from a black and white plot and give it humanity. It wasn't just senseless murder because Abby was a raider who wanted to take over the new world. She wanted revenge on the man who murdered her father. We already saw WHY Joel killed her dad. We were along for the ride from the beginning so we didn't even think twice in the first game when we pulled the trigger on the surgeons who were about operate on Ellie. They were nameless, unimportant, evil, selfish doctors. Now in this game we got to see things from the other perspective. Actions have consequences. No, i'm not even saying what we did as Joel in the first game was wrong. It was human. My favorite scene in this game was the flashback in which Joel told Ellie that if he could go back, he would do the exact same thing. Absolutely no regrets. To shred this game down to: "ABBY KILL JOEL. I DONT LIKE ABBY. THIS GAME SUCKS." is so sad. Everyone has their own opinion, but rating a beautiful game such as this a ZERO because you didn't like the story is actually hilarious.

    I really don't care to touch on the fact that Ellie is a lesbian in this game. The fact that it angers so many people is pretty funny to me. Makes me wonder if Jesse was her love interest if user ratings would be as bad as they are.    … Expand

    Thats why when I hit half the game and it forced me to play as the antagonist I was so angry. Here I am upgrading my gear etc hating the antagonist and now I have to play as her. No. I actually deleted the game and gave up on it.

    Fast forward to today almost 2 years later, decided to continue where I left off and boy was I happy I did. After I got over the fact that now I have to play with this character and seeing how the story plays out, why things happen as they do and how events are from different perspectives….     The story was horribly cliched, none of the context made any sense at all. You kill almost 30 people on your way to get to Abby and then let her go. Dialogues were amateur at best. The ending was non sensical, the story just pretended to be deep and edgy. The pacing is unbearably slow so much so that it is actually boring at times and frustrating. No improvements at all in the gameplay from the first part. Adding a jump button is not an improvement in my opinion. Overall not recommended.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. -This game is basically a movie, since it has very good graphics & it is extremely linear.
    -Its gameplay is basically the same as the title released in 2013, but the inclusion Jump, Prone & Dodge, but some enemy attacks are undodgeable.
    -Its AI is basically the same as in 2013, which again means lots of dumm dumm NPCs, whether they are allies or enemies, which easily breaks the inmersion for the player with respect to the survival or the action in it.
    -But its worst thing in question.. is its WRITING or STORYTELLING perspective, which is simply full of PLOT HOLES & moments which are completely devoid of any logic or common sense.. that causes many of its main characters to look like a bunch of simpletons or imbeciles, & this terrible WRITING also affects its ENDING.. which is nothing more than a MASSIVE LETDOWN.. basically imagine a John Wick killing all the characters that get in his way, when John is trying to kill the killer of his dog, but that at the end.. John decides to forgive the killer of his dog.. because he just conveniently have a flashback about his dog...    … Expand

    The Last Jedi, all over again! When a game developer doesn’t want to create quality content just to make sure that check boxes are ticked. Subverting expectations! I wonder if they had a story idea? Probably not. It is horrifying to see that they desecrate bellowed characters like Joel. Like Luke Skywalker, he did not get a worthy story or ending.     The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
