    I found it hard to stop playing and found myself thinking about The Last of Us 2 when I wasn't playing. Like a book that you can't wait to continue reading, for me, that is the mark of something wonderful.
    The game play, the visuals, the amazing levels and yes, the agonizing journey of the characters all come together to make a brilliant game.

    Like other reviewers here, I adore the first game and it will always have a place in my heart. But unlike many of you, I am not disappointed with this sequel. It's a gut- wrenching, intense experience that I cannot wait to play again.

    이런 우울한 스토리의 게임은 정말 신선했다. 이것때문에 연차써야하나 고민했을정도로 33시간동안 정말 몰입해서 즐겼다. 두 명의 주인공으로 플레이함으로써 1편에 비해 전투의 단조로움이 많이 개선되어 좋았고 좀비종류도 늘어나 일종의 보스몹이 등장한 점도 좋았다.

    This game was a journey. I managed to avoid all leaks and spoilers and I'm so glad I did as I went in knowing absolutely nothing and had no expectations. And it hurt, from the start. And didn't stop hurting. I loved the new characters, which surprised me. I both loved and was frustrated by Ellie. I loved the ride we went on with her spiral into vengeance and hurt when I thought she wasn'tThis game was a journey. I loved the new characters, which surprised me. I both loved and was frustrated by Ellie. I loved the ride we went on with her spiral into vengeance and hurt when I thought she wasn't going to be able to pull herself out of it. This game is about so much: forgiveness of self, of others, the knowledge that sometimes some things are unforgivable but maybe you have to try anyway, revenge, grief, fear, sacrifice--amazing writing. I really hated going back to play as Abby. Take me back to Ellie!!! Then started to like it. Then really enjoyed it by the end. Lev is the best ever. Ground zero made me almost wet my pants. I just....look, I read a review after I finished that said this isn't the game fans wanted, and I can definitely get behind that sentiment. But then it goes on to say it's still a f*cking good game, and it really, really is. Gameplay is a lot of fun, graphics are great. Some new elements to fights were a great time. As in the first game, I just adored the collectibles, the notes left around, the little background stories we get to see bits of. Ellie's journal was such a nice touch. Especially at her judging a teens journal in the first game from someone from before the outbreak for only worrying about clothes and if a boy likes her, then she's all "does she like me??" in hers. Nice little touches there.
    Dropped a point for me personally as some things were off with story pacing, some things rushed that I felt needed more time and other things given too much time that felt it could do without. It would have been nice to see some more little "open world" play elements like the first part started with, to break up what after that was the pattern of fight, slip through crack in wall, fight, slide down muddy path, fight.

    This game was amazing. I'll replay at some point, but for now my heart hurts. Incredible work, ND.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I finished The Last of Us Part II 3 days ago, and now I find myself feeling confident enough time has passed to truly process my thoughts.
    The game is complicated (yet it’s not particularly complex however). I spent the first 29 hrs thinking the game was a revenge story, only to understand that in the last 1hr and 45 minutes, the game is truly about forgiveness - and when it's time to let go of the past and move on.
    Firstly, let me talk about the gameplay and the world.
    The world once more is emphatically beautiful and profoundly immersive. The combat never ceased to excite me and each different area was alive and rich in a real world setting of an unthinkable disaster. The graphics are the best I’ve seen of any game on the PS4 - so ultimately the best of any game of ever played.
    Now, the story. It’s flawed, but as far as I can see, that’s intended.
    Ellie changes, massively. The opening scenes with her are the last we see of the sweet, caring young lady she’s growing into. And we see her become a mammoth in murder and repent. But I loved it, and I still care deeply for the character, that will never change.
    The switch in characters at first made me angry and I even thought about putting the game down until I cared about Abby - but then i thought, what if i never care about her? And that's when it hit me - you don't. At least not at the beginning. But you learn to enjoy her company (at least I did). I learned to feel great empathy for her chocking to death on a noose, or at the end when she's being crucified and is on the verge of mal-nourishment,
    The game often tries to be clever. In particular with a mini boss fight as Abby AGAINST Ellie - yano that character we love unconditionally. It's a cycle of actions and consequences and repercussions. You find yourself not only in the middle of it all, but the case with Ellie, you are the catalyst for the consequential actions. You question the motives and the actions of the characters, yet the game does not allow you to choose to comply or not - you just have to.
    That's an extremely difficult concept to adhere to - without your consent. I often did not believe in the actions at first. When Ellie travels across country seeking revenge once more, is it believable? I didn't think so at first.
    But lets look at the first game. Joel - he fights, kills and outright murders those against him, and he enjoys it. Then he meets Ellie, and he changes. Moreover, his feelings for Ellie becoming stronger and the reason for his actions changes. The act of saving Ellie at the end of the first game (whether you support the action or not) diminishes any chance the human race has of overcoming this disaster successfully. The needs of the many out-way the needs of the few, yet Joel makes a conscious, morally 'incorrect' decision to support his own bias - the needs of him out-way the needs of everyone else
    Abbie does the same when she kills him.
    Ellie does the same when she goes after her.
    Abbie nearly kills Dina cause Ellie killed Mel (the pregnancy sub-plot wasn't well executed imo).
    And finally Ellie goes after Abbie again seeking redemption.
    And the conclusion is that revenge is not the answer - and as the flashback to Joel at the end suggests - the arc of the story (as printed above) is forgiveness.
    The ending, where Ellie leaves Joel behind (metaphorically shown through the guitar being put down), does not pay off. But i understand the symbolism and I feel it’s successful within the story Naughty Dog have told.
    It's complicated (as I said), but not complex. It's not a poetic way of telling a story, be it's certainly effective in showing the player the cost of their actions - and that what you think you want, is not always what you need to heal.
    It's not the game I wanted, but it's the game Naughty Dog needed to tell.
    It's not perfect, but its a master-class in leaving the player with a profound sense of nothingness, forcing you to lament what you have just witness, and question your own morals.

    Play it.
    And if you hate it or love it, that's the correct response.    … Expand

    Abby has a long time of game play, almost 50% of the whole story. I don't think it's fair and correct for naughty dog ​​to sell us a game with Ellie in the trailer and force us to play abby for so long.

    Big fan of the last of us 1. Wasn't sure at first how I felt after finishing Part 2. I love the graphics and game play portions. It's such a beautiful and scary game. As for the story, it stirred up so many emotions that you don't expect from a mere game and is so thought provoking. I wasn't happy with how it ended but sometimes, real life isn't fair and I suppose if there was aBig fan of the last of us 1. Wasn't sure at first how I felt after finishing Part 2. The graphics are arguably the best I've ever seen. I personally believe the addition of Abby was great, both as a character and a playable character. The only reason why this game is a 9 and not a 10 is due to the unsatisfying ending. Don't give in to all the hate, play the game for yourself and make your decision.… Expand

    The Last of Us Part II. Naughty Dog and company should be proud of the game they developed. Of course, anyone is bound to have negative thoughts about the game for various reasons. Yet, after completing the game once after roughly 30 hours of true gameplay time, I am writing my first review for a game that has great moments, but also flaws like any other game. i will breakdown this reviewThe Last of Us Part II. Naughty Dog and company should be proud of the game they developed. Of course, anyone is bound to have negative thoughts about the game for various reasons. Yet, after completing the game once after roughly 30 hours of true gameplay time, I am writing my first review for a game that has great moments, but also flaws like any other game. i will breakdown this review into brief sections covering the story, graphics, gameplay and character development.

    Story (9/10)
    Without getting into story specifics (no spoilers here outside one character reveal), players take control of Ellie as she reworks herself after a tragic event that sets off an adventure rooted in hate and vengeance. Friends join her on this quest fraught with danger around every corner in search of the culprits that triggered this adventure in the first place. The player suffers and feels through grueling sequences that put the player in positions that they otherwise would not want to make. In a world nearly 30 years later that is continuing to evolve from the events of the first part, hard decisions are a part of the story and Naughty Dog gives the player little choice in the matter. The player watches Ellie grow to loathe vengeance as each action builds upon each other. Then, as a matter of perspective, the player assumes control of another female character named Abby. She herself is on a similar path as Ellie, a tragic event leads to drastic measures, but now she is attempting to redefine herself. The player will see bloodshed, tears and gut wrenching moments that do stay true to Neil Druckmann's intentions on the themes in game. While various parts of the story as fleshed out as much as possible, other parts are largely filled with plot holes. Though no game can realistically flesh out every possible detail and still keep a riveting storyline, I felt detached from some characters during the story. This brings us to the next section.

    Character Development (5/10)
    I will say it straight here: this was one of the more disappointing aspects of the game, but nevertheless, there were still good parts. The good: the redemption of both Abby and Ellie is clear as day and the choices they make are reflective of their past and their desires for the future they want. More good: for those who played the first game, we're already attached to Joel and it doesn't take much to know how much Ellie cares about Joel and how that drives her into the adventure she goes on. Now for constructive. Certain supporting cast members felt lackluster. I could never really get attached to them in the way I did with Henry and Sam in the first game. Perhaps the focus was solely on Ellie and Abby for the sake of a story driven by hate. However, even with a lovely story within all this hate (a couple exists that I loved, but never could fully understand the whole dynamics of the two individuals), I only found myself displeased with the death of a character that I only got mere minutes of for a backstory. Certain character details aren't as fleshed out, but for the main characters, Naughty Dog did what they could to tell the story whilst giving players insight to the growth and downfall of each side of Ellie and Abby.

    Graphics (10/10)
    Not much to say here other than the world this game is played in is absolutely stunning. I felt like I was in each location and felt the devastation around me. Enemies even looked as human as the main characters and even sounded the same. The dynamics between the graphics and story complemented each other.

    Gameplay (7/10)
    The game itself still retains a lot of the exploration seen in the first. If a player wants to make sure they have everything, then scouring the whole map will take a lot more time than usual. The incorporation of jumping and prone mechanics were nice additions that the first game didn't have. They added another element of stealth that is utilized so that encounters weren't always gunfights and fistfights. I do wish the same amount of trophies existed as in the first game, but nothing can change that now. Collectibles still feel meaningful though I do miss having comic relief in the form of jokes and conversations as the first game had. Yet, this game is its own game despite being a sequel to the first.

    Overall Rating: 8/10
    Overall, the game has its flaws in the story and character development. I am proud of the work done to flesh out the maps, enemies and other small details. Naughty Dog developed a game they are proud to call theirs. Love it or hate it, there is a certain amount of bliss to the game and I liked it. Though it's not a 10/10 game, I do have to side with the critics: the story hit its mark with me and I understood, even though I wanted the choice to decide, why Neil Druckmann wrote the story. All I have to say is: play or watch someone play the game and make the decision yourself on whether to love it, hate it or be mixed.    … Expand

    So I actually made an account just to write this review because I think this game was severely misunderstood by so many "fans" of the series. It will not include any spoilers.

    If you played Part 1, you will feel at home right away. The gameplay in it's core stayed the same, which I love! There are some more options in terms of crafting/upgrading/skill tree which can complement your preferred playing style (stealth or rambo) and Ellie is more agile that what you know from Part 1. It feels like a true survival game when there are strong enemies and loot is scarce. If you are an average or experienced gamer you should certainly play it on HARD. That gives you some challenge without being too challenging. It complements the story very well and you will certainly have some "fear" moments because you feel like the enemy is too strong. Sometimes I even thought of going one difficulty higher, do as you please but the game certainly is the most fun when it is challenging.

    Video/Sound: 10/10
    Here obviously we don't have to say much. It is amazing how an almost 7 year old device can produce such graphics. Play on HDR if your TV supports this. The sound itself is also amazing, especially if you have surround sound. When you flee and enemies are chasing you, hearing their shots, screams, dogs running after you from behind ist just amazing. I do wish they had more "ambient" sounds for the weather, wind, water etc. coming from the back speakers that would make you feel like you are IN the game when there are slow parts of the story.

    So, now we come to the most talked about subject. As this review should not include any spoilers I obviously can't tell much about the story itself. There are many negative reviews about the story because people don't like how the story turns out. Just to put it out there, the story itself is great! It makes you think about violence, good and bad, right or wrong and is constructed with a lot of emotions overall. And I think that's where the expectation gap comes in. We as gamers are used to being able to change the story and make the protagonist do what we want. The Last of Us Part 2 is not such a game!!! (and btw Part 1 was neither). It will tell you the story and decisions of the people in it and you as a gamer
    can't change that. And that is why it is so great. There is no right or wrong decision for you to make. The protagonists make the decisions and you are the one executing it. And that gives you insights in who the protagonist is and what he/she feels like. And with this they can portray a good story that makes you question decisions or reasonings of the protagonists, which is great! The story is an emotional rollercoaster and I love it for that reason.

    Overall, the game is not perfect, but it certainly is a very worthy Part 2 to the first game that develops a new story in a brutal environment. It is fun to play, has a great length with an interesting story that makes you think about it and obviously looks and feels great. Also, there were emotions that I felt while playing this game that I never had in any other game before. And just for that I certainly recommend playing this game.    … Expand

    Frist of all yes you will be dissapointed at some point because of the story,and that's because the game don't do what players want.Game represents story of Ellie and Joel and the CRUEL world they live in.You will feel what Ellie feels every lost every happiness, and that's the only two feelings that the game has and It’s working beautifully.Naughty dog did something brave and many player will not like it.I can tell you one thing for sure you will feel anger you will laugh you will cry but most importunately you will have to learn how to forgive,and that is Hard,but It’s beautiful,l at the same time like this game.    … Expand

    Honestly, I felt just as uncertain about this game as most people, and I let myself get driven by all the review bombing. But after the 30 hour experience The Last Of Us Part II was for me, I can say that everything the community is thrashing the game for is complete and unjustified nonsense. Some points may be valid, after all, art is subjective. And if you have played it, I invite to do so again, but don´t be so simple about it, try to look at the bigger picture, look at the character motivations, the build up to the major events.     The game deserves for 7 years’ waiting time. There is no problem for the story, I deduct 2 points for the confusion of continuous storytelling and difficulty to grow empathy towards the the second main character. Deeply appreciate for making the game. I have to change my score to 10 to counterpart those morons who gave a ridiculous 0. Damn you sexists and homophobics.

    Este juego me dio una bofetada sentimentalmente, la historia del juego es lo que es y creo que es casi perfecta, es excesivamente arriesgada, real, cruda, visceral, es una historia de una REALIDAD en un mundo así (no una fantasía de cuento de hadas como muchos esperaban), rompe todos los moldes de "héroe" y "villano" y te muestra que aca las personajes solo son personas y punto, el buenoEste juego me dio una bofetada sentimentalmente, la historia del juego es lo que es y creo que es casi perfecta, es excesivamente arriesgada, real, cruda, visceral, es una historia de una REALIDAD en un mundo así (no una fantasía de cuento de hadas como muchos esperaban), rompe todos los moldes de "héroe" y "villano" y te muestra que aca las personajes solo son personas y punto, el bueno no es tan bueno y el malo no es tan malo, ni blanco, ni negro, puros grises, y ese es un problema, necesitas ser imparcial, no estar a favor de alguien de manera ciega y hasta fanática. 9/10

    El gameplay me dejo muy satisfecho, lo que hace es pulir al máximo las mecánicas del 1 y agregar una que otra cosa para hacerlo nuevo 9.3/10, graficamente es una total belleza comparable a Red dead Redemption 2 10/10 y en lo que es sonido y banda sonora me parece notoria, muchas sonidos y ritmos se me han quedado en los recuerdos y hasta a veces los tarareo pero no senti que fuera superior al del 1 quizas un poco por debajo.9.2/10

    Los unicos puntos negativos que le veo al juego son su duracion, el juego se extiende unas 5 a 7 horas, si hubiera durado 20 horas me hubiera parecido perfecto pero 25 a 30 me parecen excesivas, y otro punto seria la manera de contar la historia yo la hubiera hecho de otra manera, fuera de esto son los unicos puntos negativos que le veo, este juego es casi una obra maestra por no decir obra maestra (en mi humilde opinión).

The game is brutal, cruel, sad, it makes your heart shatter and that was AMAZING. This is one of the best games ever made. In addition to technical excellence, which requires no comments(best graphics and animationsI expected no less from Naughty Dog than a breathtaking experience, but i thought it would be a "happy one", and they went above and beyond, subverting all my expectations. The game is brutal, cruel, sad, it makes your heart shatter and that was AMAZING. This is one of the best games ever made. Lets get the obvious things out the way. Game play is fantastic as well as graphics and level design . Now for the main attraction, the story! I didint like that Joel died. He was my favorite out of everyone. But i just picked up the pieces and wanted to see the rest of the game. I remember Neil the director stated in so many of his interviews that he could have used any two characters for the first game. But i disagree , i believe he under estimated how lucky, and how much joel and ellie was a once in a life time lovable characters that dont come around in games or even movies/TVshows. But knowing all this did not blind me to see what story they were trying to tell. ND gave all us million of fans 10/10 games year after year. They deserve our respect no matter what they do and our FAIR opinion after playing the game. Regardless of the misleading commercials and what ever is going on in their company the truth is that it is non of our business and we will never know the real reason for what goes on in their studio. Ok now back to the game , i loved it but i didint agree with certain aspects they took. But the game is not disrespectful. Ellies portion of the game is spot on great. The flash backs are amazing and to be honest if they were not in the game i would have gave the game bad review and stated that Joel was disrespected but to me that is what saved this game when we are talking about story alone about Joel and ellie. Now when we get to the 2nd half of the game i REALLY REALLY didint wanna play as abby, but i still gave it a shot and i actually saw that they put more work on making her gameplay with more variation. They tried to make her character into a joel figure with lev as somewhat as ellie. To be honest i would not allow the game to let me sympathize with abby. Up until the point that ellie released her from the pillars from the rattlers is when i actually had a glimpse of sympathy ,and actually u know what...i ended up not wanting to kill her no more, but i never wanna play as her again. So ND accomplished what they wanted to say for ME. But if abby is in future games then im not on board bcs joel has a special place in my heart. Now i just want to say i LOVE Laura Bailey and her performance was superb and she is a amazing person. i been following her work ever since she voiced trunks for DBZ. Any ways to sum this up when they got to the point where Ellie and Dina were in the farm i told myself NO the game better not end here there needs to be more and i need to see Joel again. So the game delivered and the last scene in the game gave Joel and Ellie leading up to hashing things out and that was the only scene in the whole game that had me in tears close to how i was in the first game. This is a great game and fans should give it at least one play through. This is all an opinion and i hope people respect it such as i respect theirs.… Expand

    Il se loupe peut-être sur certains détails mais niveau histoire c'est juste épique ! Ça amène pleins de message, religion, vengeance, haine, acception de soit (lgbt) sans forcément en faire trop comparé à ce que certains peuvent dire... Le gameplay est génial mais peut-être peu nouveau comparé au premier, le seul défaut pour moi.

Et pour moi ces choix sont parfaits compte tenu du thème du jeu. le fait de nous imposer de jouer l'antagoniste et de voir les raisons pour lesquelles elle a agit ainsi est brillant. comment comprendre le concept de cycle de vengeance, sans montrer les deux cotés ? le jeu est très bien écrit contrairement a ce que certains disent. ces personnes se cachent derrière l,expression "Bad Writing" car il ne supportent pas qu'on les force a voir ou a comprendre les motivation de Abby ..et même en leur montrant que sa vengence est tout aussi légitime que celle de Ellie ... ils la refusent. c'est un manque de maturité assez hallucinant. Ils faudrait grandir un peu.. c'est tellement plus facile de détester quelqu'un que de comprendre le pourquoi de leurs actions.... ces gens sont ridicules. concernant les graphismes c'est le jeu le plus detaillé que j'ai jamais vu, c'est dingue, le Gameplay est certes pas révolutionnaire, mais il est très solide et plutot jouissif, bande son exceptionelle. bref pour moi cest du 10… Expand

I do not like certain things in life but have learned to accept them. I don’t agree with certain things in the LGBQT community but that doesn’t mean they are bad people. I absolutely loved the first game. Replayed it more times than I can count. When I first found out that Ellie was a lesbian I was a little apprehensive but I love that character regardless. I loved playing as Joel and his story and character arc. I am upset what happens to Joel but the overall story and how it plays out is tremendous in my opinion. This ranks in the top 5 for me and my tastes in gaming. Some might think that my tastes are terrible then. That’s your opinion and you are entitled to that. Don’t believe the hate , this game is a 10 out of 10 and if u didn’t like the story fine that means u have a bad taste but then there is no way it’s below 8 . This is the most beautiful story in video games in the past decade . Joel’s death serves the story so well but if u wanted him to go out like a hero with all the shootings and clickers well that’s not real . I’m sure u would have liked it but in a game as grounded as this one it doesn’t work . As for Ellie’s story arc it’s all about revenge until she forgives and it doesn’t happen in a second just like everyone is saying . She enjoys killing two of them . She breaks after making Nora talk . She didn’t want to kill Mel but she did and after that she just wants to go back but she has to see it through until she remembers joel wouldn’t want that . That’s the trigger but the build up for that forgiveness is there from the moment she kills Nora . As for abby the whole point is about the circle of violence . She gets revenge u begin to hate her then u see the backstory u see she cares about people u see she is the same as Ellie maybe even more likable . That’s the beauty ofDruckman’s characters .     This game is most definitely in my top 3 video games of all time (along with The Witcher 3 and Fallout 4) even if there are two main aspects missing in comparison (but perhaps not applicable given the concept /context of the game ) :
    - not an open world
    - no user based choice making

    Regardless of these 2 shortcomings, #TheLastofUsPartII lives up to its first installment and then some. I particularly appreciated the novelty of addressing a revenge story from the perspective of both antagonist - a truly brilliant idea that challenges the player’s preconceptions and gives a whole new dimension to the gaming experience. Furthermore, the quality and depth of the main characters (not just Ellie & Abby) is so poignant that I felt there was even more to be said told them, perhaps in a DLC?

    We can only hope that Naughtydog will make a 3rd volume and team up the girls against those Rattlers.    … Expand

    Finished the game yesterday, a little over 30 hours. I absolutely loved it. Stayed away from spoilers and reviews and dug in. I was captivated and couldn’t wait to find out more, towards the end I didn’t want to finish it.     I’ve been a huge fan of tlou 1 and I can’t tell you how excited I was for the part 2.

    Honestly speaking I did saw couple of leaks before the release but I didn’t let those comments and leaks bothered me from purchasing a game! And even though whole internet is really mad about the storyline and the ending of the game but From my personal experience I really enjoyed this game!

    Is it as good as its predecessor? No! But you have to understand that the last of us part 1 was a masterpiece and it would be really hard to top that. Does the game feels lagged and slow at some point? Yes! But only if you don’t care about the story..

    Just my personal opinion it’s a really well made game! It does have a great story which explains the real message which is “vengeance always consumes the best of you”. Speaking of which if you look at from Ellie’s prospective, to get revenge of Joel’s death which is Ofcourse a big deal she got lost in vengeance so bad that she lost everything in the end! Joel, Jesse & her relationship with Dina!

    And same goes for Abby.. she was so upset and wanted to take the revenge for her fathers death by killing Joel. But in the end she also end up losing everything and everyone she ever loved! At first I was also pissed off about killing Joel and then play the character who killed our beloved Joel! But after realizing what’s a real message behind this game, I understand why everything happened the way it happened! Sadly Even though I agreed with Joel’s decision at the end of part one about saving Ellie’s life but deep down I know it was a wrong decision considering a bigger picture! And eventually it also turn Ellie against Joel and don’t ever wanna do anything with him because he lied to her! And I really think it’s was Joel’s karma because he did kill those people to save Ellie’s life. Even though it was a right decision according to him but still was wrong! And I know a lot of people won’t agree with my reasoning but that’s actually true! But overall in the end The Last of us 2 is a lot darker and have a lot more deeper meaning. It’s Definitely not better than the first one but still pretty good in its own unique way and I really enjoyed it!    … Expand

I think The story actually is the strongest part of the game. The game play is a bit repetitive after some hours , the encounters feels similar. Luckily you can approach the battles differently. Sometimes I went gun blazing and some times tried to sneak my way out. That gave it some variation but it felt like the game want you to kill all enemies to be able to search all areas. I guess it might have felt different on a higher difficulty (I played on moderate). The plot really takes you on a emotional rollercoaster. I didn’t mind the change of character when you played Abby. At first I was like I don’t care if she died, but as the story continues you get more attached to her and her retribution. The story of the world is much told by notes found and the scenery. You need to look though the world and find clues about what went down. This I think was particularly good when playing Ellie and the returning with Abby to se what went down. I really enjoyed the game, some tweaking regarding the repetitive gameplay would have been nice but overall the game succeeded with leaving the feeling of wanting more and to experience the world of TLOU again. I would definitive recommend a play through.… Expand

Okay i finally get why the game is layed out like it is, with Ellie first and abby second and not broken up and jumping between them - it's so the gamer experiences the whole journey - we lose someone we love (Joel's death) we're angry and want revenge, we get further and further into that darkness, we get the revenge we wanted (abby killing joel) we realise it doesn't make things better, we find a new purpose in life (Lev) we find the light. See the reason we don't want ellie to kill abby at the end is because we know it won't work and we can see it as a mistake because we are emotionally way ahead of ellie at this point. We, the gamer, completed the whole cycle and found the light, ellie is still stuck in the dark, so we are able to see the mistake for what it is. I also realised that I'm not onboard with the abby section until Lev because I can't forgive her but Lev becomes a reason for us to want abby to live, she suddenly has a purpose because she is all Lev has in this world, so it's not we want abby to live because we forgive her or like her as a character, its because we need her to look after Lev because he's an innocent in this world and we want to protect him, so we can push aside our hatred for abby enough to let her do this.

    I read many bad ratings and 99% of them are made for very stupid things (ohhh she’s kissing another girllll!! Smoking weedddd!) or made by people that don’t understand the story (or they played it in a very superficial way). Developers developed people, not characters in this game.

    While playing this game, you have to thing about the actions You do 1000 times. Not because your actions can change the events in the game (the story is independent and has only one end) but because your action will have consequences of yourself! And it’s the first game that makes me feel that (semi spoiler: I’m sorry Bear)

    Things that i don’t like much in this game:
    - like previous chapter you can’t return in the previous area.
    - skill tree very basic, it could be improved a lot
    - Italian localization of scars (why hyenas?!)

    An amazing game that tells a two sided story with a spiral narrative. The gameplay brings improves and you will notice if you played The Last of Us "part one". I kept playing for hours trapped in the story. The enemies are defiying, humans and infected. If you doubt about buying "The Last of Us Part II", dont do it anymore, it is a Must have in your collection.

    Recently I finished this game and i was so empty inside... But this is not bad at all!! Cause story in the game really fantastic ! Thanks Neil Druckmann for awesome experience! Never was so empty inside cause game. Really love this game and characters! Gameplay so DOPE! I recommend everyone this game to play and cry :)

The criticism game is getting is well deserved, yes you saw it right, I have never seen a game doing this to a player before, it makes player angry and dissatisfied at points, which is not what games are made for. It's such a different (bad/good) experience, it's like the bulbs when they were invented they were cool but unreliable so people preferred traditional lamps, but they paved the way for the modern lights we see today, that analogy doesn't fit exactly but I hope you got the point. It's a change which comes in generations the game brings a change just like what its predecessor did to story telling in gaming. The story which is talk of the town is multilayered and is not just like a movie but instead as a player you feel it, even the conflicts of character's and player's mind are well predicted in the story, its almost like a overlap between the two, like a player is a different part of character's mind, which is why its painful to continue the game sometimes. It doesn't matter if you chose a bulb or a traditional lamp as your lighting source now at the end you can't stop the evolution. It happened now with the generation's favourite game franchise can be understandably painful for some, but good part is its now a part of the history of this art form. To ease some pain and to help you learn along the game- 'It's not about what you achieve or whats at the end, it's about the journey.'

    Don't listen to people who wanted more of the same and cannot emotionally handle a more complex and ambitious game in terms of storytelling.

    Even with the divisive story, the gameplay, the graphics and the mechanics of the game are OUTSTANDING. Easily my favourite game ever.

It was such an emotional experience. the graphics are the best out there, the voice acting is incredible, and the gameplay is always so fun and intense. The story is also incredible, and it is the only game I actually cried in. There has been some criticism of the story. The main reason is Joel's death. People are mad at the disrespectful way he was killed and how they don't like Abby and her friends. There are also more reasons for the hate of this game, but I am just listing the two reasons I think are the main ones. About the reactions of Abby and her accomplices: People think that when they play a game they have to agree with everything that happens in it. That is not the case, especially in this game. This game gives you the facts of a situation, and lets you decide how to feel. About Joel's death: I agree that his death was disrespectful, but I think that the disrespectfulness of the death is a good thing, it shows you how violent and serious the world of The Last of Us 2 is. It also fuels the fire of hatred against Abby. Overall, it makes you think about what the characters do and what they are, and changes you as a person.… Expand

    Definitely one of the best game I have ever experienced since a couple of years. The story is unbelievably well written and heart-wrenching. The gameplay is extremely satisfying and challenging. The graphics are the best I’ve seen on a PlayStation console. Every aspect of the game was perfected to the very best.

As a gamer with average skills, I've been challenged in a fair and meaningful way with the multitude of combat and crafting options. With those features alone, it seems like the game should be at least a 7 or 8. As for the characters and story, even if it seems like nonsense and has unexplained character actions, there are plenty of movies and games that ask us to suspend disbelief and "play along." I don't necessarily dislike all media that had stretches of logic. For Joel to be killed in the manner he was, it certainly provided a motive for revenge, but I'm wondering why players can't be flexible, even watching a tragic character death. Fine art should produce some kind of emotions and even take controvercial risks. I would rather have a game industry run by passionate risk takers than year-after-year Call of Duty factories.… Expand

    I wasn’t sure what to expect, as the first part in my opinion could not be topped. Naughty Dog has given us the entire story and so much more. It’s beautiful, funny, and emotional, a must play for all TLOU fans.

    The game runs exceptionally well on the base ps4. I didn't experience a single bug during my entire play-through, nor did i notice any texture pop-ins or any slow downs, which really is amazing considering how absolutely outstanding the graphics and animations are. The art direction and attention to detail is also exceptional.

    I thought the story was great, especially by video game standards where games like Nier Automata is considered having great writing... It is however definitely a bit indulgent in prioritizing story telling over everything else, like in having multiple extended playable flashbacks. And imo the game would have benefited from having some more cynical editors involved.

    The highlight for me is the gameplay, with both the stealth and the action being really great (especially the action). Almost all the fights manage to feel incredibly intense. On paper the gameplay mechanics are very similar to the first game, however it feels entirely different to play and is so much more fun.

    Never have I experienced anything like this in a video game. Although I finished it two weeks ago, it still haunts me. I completely understand why this might not be for everyone, but it definitely worked for me.

    Not a 10/10, I would say a 9/10. But since people are so dumb and immature to understand the story, I'll give it a 10/10. I loved the first game, got platinum on it. And the second one is just wonderful and poetic. It is sad to see what Ellie have become and what happened to Joel, but given the ending of the first game, it actually makes a lot of sense, but people are just too dumb toNot a 10/10, I would say a 9/10.     Its a very good game. It digs deeper than everyone understands. This game reveals human psichology and does that through the player himselft. Its really more than just a horror action game. And people who didnt understand that and gives a game a bad score. Well what can a I say its a pity.

    When I started this game I was certainly not expecting a philosophical journey into the futility of revenge and the horrors of the cycle of violence— but that’s what I got. A beautiful, heart breaking work of art. Well done Naughty Dog.

I’ve some nitpicks about how this is executed; but how the game largely succeeds in telling its story with novelty and subtlety more than make up for these quibbles.     Personally one of the best experiences I've had on the PS4. I understand the negative reviews, but I personally love the bleakness. The graphics and acting are top notch, with the gameplay feeling satisfying. The story could have gone in a different direction and I may have liked it more but it was worth every dollar
