    The Last of Us 2 is the latest entry in developers Naughty Dog's impressive resume of titles that span years. Perhaps unlike their previous games this one is mired with ballsy decisions to its storytelling element, that while divisive, also demonstrates their aptitude to taking a risk and for that I applaud them. Story wise, you'll see shocking things happen to mire any well told novel orThe Last of Us 2 is the latest entry in developers Naughty Dog's impressive resume of titles that span years. Perhaps unlike their previous games this one is mired with ballsy decisions to its storytelling element, that while divisive, also demonstrates their aptitude to taking a risk and for that I applaud them. Story wise, you'll see shocking things happen to mire any well told novel or film, but in an age where video games have lacked a source of complex and ultimately frightful storytelling it will either stay with you long after you finish the lengthy campaign or leave you with a disdain for the franchise. Either way you look at it, it's quite telling of the path the writers have taken to differentiate their product from the rest and personally it's a home run. In terms of presentation, The Last of Us 2 is a monster. The graphics are by far the best I've witnessed on any platform, even if the PC is my personal choice. Character animations, level detail, facial expressions - it's the combination of outstanding technical direction and art style. The voice acting is absolutely top-notch and the music in certain scenes heartbreaking. Presentation wise, The Last of Us 2 is a perfect product. Gameplay remains largely the same as the first, with some nice improvements to add variety to the game like the ability to jump and swim. They're not groundbreaking by any means and sticks a bit to closely to the formula, but it feels enjoyable thanks to the many great action set pieces. I would have loved to see the gameplay evolve a lot more, but what's here is still great.

    Overall: The Last of Us 2 features fantastic gameplay moments that alongside its presentation will mesmerize you to its world. Its story will be a hit or miss for many as it takes some realistic approaches that in the real world make sense, but in a market where the majority may not be used to gripping story-telling similar to other forms of media, it will rub a lot of people the wrong way.     All I’m going to say is ignore the trolls, the original Last of Us was one of the best games I’ve ever played and I’m happy to say that The Last of Us Part 2 is just as good. It expands on the gameplay and makes some bold, controversial but justified choices in the story and I think that it is all the better for them. The problem that remains is, in fact, we managed to overcome the death of one of the main characters in the first game. It is a challenge, which is precisely the same as losing a family member. At the moment we feel anger, hatred for Abby, but then we see that in fact she is not the real “villain”, but Joel was. If we think about it, Abby belonged to the fireflies, which were looking for a cure for humanity. From the other side, we saw Ellie and Joel, who literally killed everyone for an insignificant cause. If we see everything out of the box, in Part II, we love the villager and we wanted to kill the protagonist. But little by little we started to understand that abby did what she had to do, she sought revenge which in turn led her to emptiness. Ellie taking her revenge also killed all the people that Abby loved or knew, that in the end, the two were left alone, because of revenge. That's the moral of the story. Revenge leads nowhere. In short, this game should be played for those who are mature enough to understand the game. It's a masterpiece.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As for gameplay, it's masterpiece and it improves over tlou 1 in every way. With story my two biggest complaints are a few cheap tricks (that only undermine the story) and the placement of chapters (what I mean is that first you play half of the game as Ellie and then suddenly the rest is almost only Abby) which makes you forget about others characters for a bit. I think it would have been much better if they played chapter chronologically. To be honest through most of the game I though about giving it an 8/10, but for me ending is so good and powerful that it elevates it easily. Also it's important to mention that you'll enjoy this game much more if you experience it not as Ellie, but rather as a person who knows (and loves) Ellie and is just an observer watching her fall into grief.… Expand

    This game impacted me more than any piece of media ever has. It completely and utterly broke me and challenged me. I ended up in a spot I didn’t know I could be or even wanted to be in the beginning but by the end it won over. It’s has consumed my thoughts since I beat it. This game requires all of you.

    Говорят, что геймплей скучный и однообразный. Но он, по сути, тот же, что был и в первой части, только доработанный и разбавленный новыми фишками. Мне понравился, т.к. я акцентировал внимание на истории.
    P.S.: Познакомиться с серией меня подтолкнул невероятный хайп по поводу разочарования проектом огромной аудитории игроков. Просто решил проверить и оказалось, что я категорически не понимаю это большинство. Не следуйте за массами, имейте своё мнение!    … Expand

    Ok a nivel jugable el juego es espectacular, la verdad me puso en situaciones en las que extrañaba mucho eso del 1, la inteligencia artificial no es de las mejores que que eh visto pero está fantástica.

    Ok , no tengo tanto problema con el guión del juego, pero no me cabe en la cabeza la parte en la Joel acepta ir con Abby a su guarida cuando Joel es la persona más desconfiada de la tierra, ok bueno lo otro es que te obligan a usar a Abby forzosamente casi todo el juego lo cual me parece torturante, personalmente logré entenderla a ella, este juego te enseña que para unos alguien puede ser su héroe pero para otros no, pero carajo matar a Joel de una forma tan forzosamente? Bueno dejando de lado eso resumo que la historia me pareció buena en sí pero la narrativa no y además como fan me sentí TORTURADO así que por eso le doy un 7 de 10.    … Expand

A história é simplesmente horrível, mas foi isso que os desenvolvedores quiseram nos passar, e foi feito com maestria. Ninguém queria que o Joel morresse, ou que Tommy ficasse cego, ou que a Ellie terminasse sozinha, ou ter que jogar com a Abby por horas, mas não consigo tirar o mérito dos criadores. Mexer com os nossos sentimentos era o que eles queriam, e conseguiram. Eu apreciaria muito mais um final feliz para nossos queridos amigos fictícios, mas isso não faz desse jogo uma obra menor que um 10/10.… Expand

    Certes après deux heures de jeu on assiste à la mort de Joël, une mort qui m'a bouleversé tant j'aime ce personnage. Pourtant j'ai appris à apprécier et vraiment aimer Abby.
    Abby a ruminée sa vengeance pendant des années et s'est finalement vengée, elle a tuée Joël c''est vrai mais elle n'a tuée que lui alors qu'Ellie a tuée tout le monde sur son passage.
    La fin est d’ailleurs équivoque.... Abby, après avoir été épargnée par Ellie s'enfuit avec Lev et Ellie se retrouve seule, quittée par Dyna et son fils à cause de sa soif de vengeance.
    Là où Naughty Dog a réussi c'est en nous démontrant que les gens ne sont ni blancs ni noirs, peu importe à quel point nous les avons aimés par le passé. A titre personnel j'aime mieux Abby que Ellie et j'ai adoré ce deuxième opus.    … Expand

    My new favourite game of all time tied with God of War PS4. After finishing The Last of Us Part II all other games feel hollow. Eclipses the first game in every way. Highly recommended,

I wouldn't argue that a lot of the plot depends on very deus ex machina moments, but I think that's true of most video games and films. Every Uncharted game has been absolutely littered with it, yet somehow it's just now become a problem. Either way, I love the plot in it's entirety. I don't really know what anyone elseI sincerely just fail to see what is so bad about this games plot.     Loved the story. It’s a deep dive into the psychology of two women who come from very different backgrounds and yet they’re lives intertwined and the parallelisms could not be more apparent. Big upgrade to the gameplay of Part I and we meet some interesting NPC’s along the way. Very much worth the play. Such an intense game, just wow.

    Children criticized the game with comments in the spirit of: "The grass here is unrealistic and I didn't like the plot." This game has a very multi-faceted and adult plot. Just because you don't understand it doesn't mean it's bad.

    This Naughty Dog masterpiece should have a much higher rating than it is now. This is truly a masterpiece of game art, I am simply amazed: by the detail of the game world and the plot, GOD THIS GAME IS THE BEST IN WHAT I PLAYED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

El juego es espectacular, acabo de terminarlo y luego por fin me puse a leer todas esas críticas negativas y la verdad es que no les encuentro sentido, veo mucha gente quejándose de la muerte de Joel, pero era algo obvio, Joel iba a morir en este juego de una u otra forma y hacerlo de esa manera tan cruda y tan real le da al juego un inicio increíble cuando pase por ese momento sentí cosas que jamás había sentido en un videojuego. Un odio que salió en forma de grito hacia un personaje, una tristeza que se sentía como si alguien muy cercano a mi hubiera sido el que murió y un dolor que duró por varias horas, segui jugando en estado de shock por unos cuantos minutos... En general la historia es excelente, pero si, estoy de acuerdo en que la de la primera parte es mejor pero eso no quita que este juego es un juego de 10, el gameplay, la ambientación, todo es excelente. Si alguien lee esto, no se deje llevar por todos esos 0,es una vergüenza que estén calificando así a un juego tan bueno, pero bueno, estoy convencido de que poco a poco ira subiendo el rating, una vez que gente que de verdad jugó y terminó el juego comience a calificarlo.… Expand

I cannot describe all the emotions that this game made me feel. The story had a drastic change compared to the first game, and many are criticizing this point, but, I believe that those who are giving this hate to the game, have not even finished the story. It's the best game of the generation, and the biggest release from Sony. Thank you NaughtyDog, for that masterpiece.

Spoilers... te faz se sentir hipócrita vc fica puto com a vingança da abby quando mata o Joel ( ela vingou o pai dela ) porem apoiamos a Ellie a se vingar da abby por matar o Joel. e o final mostra como ela cresceu percebendo que a Vingança não traria nada a ela na verdade tiro dela, finalizou o game sozinha perdeu tudo. mostra bem como só se da valor quando perde, passou o inicio todo brava com o joel quando ele morreu, percebeu a falta que ele fez, e no final tinha a família dela com a dina e o bebe, abriu mão para fazer a vingança e quando percebeu já era tarde de mais e perdeu tudo novamente, ou seja só damos valor quando já é tarde de mais . historia incrível jogo que te quebra. uma otima historia na qual ninguém estava pronto… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The last of us part 2 is amazing. I've played the last of us part 1 more times than I can count, and I felt that part 2 was nothing like I expected and everything I did not know I wanted.

    Spoilers below. I understand certain criticisms of the game. But for the most part I think that the negative user reviews come from people who went into the game with preconceived opinions (because they read the leaks) and were never going to seriously play the game with an open mind. And honestly, I think any true fan of the TLOU made sure to avoid any info from leaks. I understand that Joel's death was unsettling, but that was the point. It was supposed to be unsettling. The last of us part 1 was full of surprises and deaths you didn't see coming. It wrestled with the with the topic of whether you, as Joel and ellie, were really any better than those that you were killing. This theme is further explored in part 2 by having you play as the character that you hate the most, and beginning to indetify with them. You see that their desire and passion for killing Joel is exactly the same as ellies motivation for killing Abby. You develop a bond with Lev not unlike the bond between Joel and ellie. I think that the individuals who hated this game basically just wanted the same exact experience that the last of us part 1 gave them. But considering that the characters have lived for 5 years since the events of the first game, it wouldn't make any sense for them to be exactly the same person that they were in part 1. They've grown and changed as people. I love that naughty dog took so many risks in creating this game, but when you take risks you are bound to trigger snow-flake gamers who don't want change. The bond that ellie and Joel have is beautiful, and seeing it further explored is what people wanted. I feel that this game still delivered that, just not in the form that people were expecting. The last of us games are games about love and fighting for those you love, and part 2 were centered around these themes just as much as part 1. And anyone who hated these games because of LGBT themes: well, I'm just not going to change your mind on that so I won't really address it. Basically, I loved this game. I thought that the gameplay was fantastic, fast paced, methodical, and just all around perfectly enjoyable. The story was amazing to experience. The atmosphere and tone were so utterly the last of us. Definitely buy this game. Haters gonna hate, but for once the critics got it right. It is insane how low of scores the butt hurt fans are giving the game. I think they are likely just doing this to tank the rating. I mean seriously, if you didn't like the game, that is fine, but 1 star? Seriously, even if you hated it, it obviously deserved better than 1 star. Fallout 76 is a game deserving of 1 star. You can't honestly say that this game is 1 star bad. If you gave it a 5 or less, I think you are drastically exaggerating any issues you had with this game. But that's all for my rant. Loved TLOU part 2. Play it with an open mind. You'll love it. Now I am just hoping for some multiplayer. Cuz damn I love factions from part 1.    … Expand

Apart from the story, I can't believe how real this game looks. The graphics are just on point, physics don't even look like animations, all those new mechanics are amazing. The Last Of Us was always my second favorite game, but after the sequel it definitely goes to the top spot. Bravo, Naughty Dog, don't let those hate reviews scare you, do what you believe in.     I've beaten the game about a month ago. Still, I can't help it but think about the storyline all the time. It's amazing how bold and incredible this game is. No words can describe this better than "An emotional roller coaster." 10/10

Месть это лавина, которая к концу сметает все на своем пути. Но все же, не Элли начала это, и даже не Эбби, целиком вина лежит на Джоэле, который убил отца Эбби. Но разработчики не предоставили вариант что с ним делать, линейность обеих частей кстати и есть еще одна проблема всей истории в целом, но это не так существенно.     The plot is not for everyone... it requires a very open mind to understand what the director is trying to show us, and despite the “hating” part is yet very brutal and uncomfortable, the game have a very good and strong story, i really liked it after player the whole game.

I gotta say I was very sceptical because of all the noise before the games release, but after having completed it I found it to be absolutely perfect. It had some really tough emotional scenes, but I feel like it fits in perfectly in this harsh imperfect world TLOU is set it. Lot of hard emotional scenes, that really adds to the post apocalyptic scenery. The graphics are stunning, gameplay is amazing, and the story blew me away. It’s just so hard hitting. I was left numb and emotionally drained at the end. Don’t believe the 0/5 comments, it’s become popular to hate on this game due to its representation of diversity and LGBT coverage. I am not for overrepresentation these issues normally but I thought they addressed it in a subtle and relevant way. It’s just incredibly well done. Masterpiece… Expand

    I loved this game from start to finish. Each "chapter" was a step-up from the one before it. Almost everyone agrees the gameplay and graphics are outstanding. However, for me, the story is the best thing about this game. It is moving. It is different. It is not the good-guy-kills-the-bad-guy cliché. You see the story from the perspective of the person you think is the bad guy. It makes you think about the consequences of the actions you did in the first game as the "hero" of that story. It makes you think a lot. Both Ellie and Abby lose a lot as a result of this cycle of violence, which Ellie decides to break at the end. It's a story of love, hate, revenge, and forgiveness. When Ellie was drowning Abby at the end, I was saying to myself please Ellie, don't kill her. I was glad she didn't. I might've shed a tear or two. It was the perfect ending to a transformative and moving story.    … Expand

Because you play as two different people, the contrast in play style between the characters is a nice touch. The graphics are outstanding, as are the physics and sound design, resulting in a very realistic feeling world.

    The story - Many reviews on here whine about being forced to play as Joel’s killer, stating “how are we supposed to feel sympathy for her” when she killed such a beloved character. They also state “this is nothing like the original story, no character depth, game of thrones, violence, etc”. Did they even play the same game, or were they just blinded by their nostalgia and put Joel’s character on a pedestal? Joel was not a good person at the end of The Last of Us. He did many **** up things, including murdering a doctor unnecessarily (which I remember being a big talking point when the game was first released, as it forces the player to do it despite many feeling it was wrong) and stops potentially the only possible cure from being developed. The point of that ending was that no matter how good Joel was to Ellie, he wasn’t exactly a “good” person in a lot of ways, no one is in the game. TLOU2 story was the most natural continuation of the story. Joel’s actions caught up to him, he traded his life for Ellie’s. You can be angry that they forced you to play as Abby, you can even choose to still dislike Abby after everything they show you about her, but you should at least be able to understand her. Abby is the monster in Ellie’s story, but Joel was the monster in Abby’s, and that is the point of this whole game. They force you to learn about Abby, about her life and her friends, just as they did for Ellie, to show that they were no different. They were human, not monsters, with their own lives and flaws that were occurring indiscriminate of each other. The parallel between Ellie and Abby is significant and understanding it is what’s most important for this game’s narrative. “But Abby was brutal and despicable, she beat Joel to death” yeah and Ellie tortured and beat Norah to death for Abby’s location. No one is a good person, but because players have put Joel on such a pedestal in their mind, they refuse to accept that he could possibly die in such a way. I don’t think anyone has to like all of the choices made, but to say this wasn’t a well told, character driven and developed story is ridiculous. It was expertly told and beautifully directed, and not one person can convince me otherwise.    … Expand

Intenso, jogabilidade refinada e impecável, gráficos lindos e supremos, uma aula de level design e de comprometimento em trazer uma experiência genuinamente humana. O jogo te faz enxergar a história por diferente perspectivas, te fazendo assim a todo momento se indagar sobre o certo e o errado. Pra finalizar, a trilha sonora é a melhor que já vi num jogo. Pontos negativos pra mim, foram, a morte mal construída de Joel, um personagem tão "casca grossa", morreu como um burro ingenuo, apesar da sua morte não ter sido em vão, ela foi completamente mal elaborada. Outro ponto negativo foram npcs do jogo muito repetitivos, você não se sente só mais um nesse mundo como em RDR 2. e pra finalizar, o fato de jogarmos pouco com a Ellie me deixou um pouco decepcionado. Joel killed so many people to save Ellie in the first part, and that is okay for you haters??? This game proves that everything has its consequences, no matter how painful they are. The leaks spoiled this game. If you read the leaks and that say the game is bad without playing it, you will never get the meant to be experience. It is just like, if you knew Iron-man was going to die in End Game beforehand, you would most likely hated the movie, easily hated it. And that's because you loved him. It provides a nuanced and thought provoking continuation of the first game’s ending that leaves players pondering the story for days. The sad truth of the story is that it revolves around Joel’s fateful decision to give Ellie a chance at life, but the way he did it basically makes it impossible for Ellie to find happiness. Every action has a consequence, and Joel’s atrocities against the fireflies ends up coming back to bite Ellie. At the end of the day, the game feels like you’re playing in an alternate reality where Joel made the wrong decision. The correct series of events seems to end with Ellie dying on the operating table and saving the world, but not all things have happy endings. To say that the characters didn’t progress well through this story is a flat out lie, because this story thoroughly felt like the place that the characters would naturally end up. Overall, it would be most fitting to package both games as a single story, because both feel so essential to each other. PLAY THIS GAME. It’ll make you feel like crap, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad game... it means it’s making you think. And that, my friends, is what all media should strive to do. Bravo Naughty Dog. Ashley Johnson and Laura Bailey both deliver excellent performances alongside a great script and story. Gameplay is brutal and crunchy making the player feel every gun shot and every swing of Ellie's knife. Gameplay is mixed up with the player taking on the game from a Abbys perspective showing a different perspective of the story. With the game originally creating a strong hate for Abby, over your time with her you start to understand and sympathize her as a character understanding that her motivations and experiences aren’t that different than Ellie‘s. This proved to be a great addition showing how non black and white the story is. Makes you rethink everything you thought you knew and makes you question between what's right and what's wrong and more importantly who's in the right and wrong in this situation, Ellie or Abby? That is the question that many gamers will be asking themselves well playing, and it's not a easy one to answer, even though at first it may seem to be. The Last of Us Part 2 is not a game that many will understand or appreciate. It's not a story everyone will enjoy not necessarily because it is bad, but because it requires the player to look into the story critically, being open minded, sometimes putting emotion to the side to better understand the actions of the characters and their motivations, and even trying to put yourself in the shoes of both Abby and Ellie to better grasp their thinking/headspace. Overall The Last of Us Part 2 is a masterfully crafted game with a incredibly in depth and mind provoking story. To all the so called Last of us "fans" who had a problem with the story, I recommend you go back and replay the first one. "The Last of Us" is not a single narrative nor just a survival zombie game. It has always been parallel stories of Man vs Man and the branching repercussions of ones actions. The humility and struggles of being a human in a world that is cruel and punishing has always been at the core of The Last of Us. Part two elevates this concept by putting you in the shoes of another person trying to cope in this complex and mentally taxing world. I can understand why people had a hard time liking this game due to the character you play as but I genuinely believe that if you did not understand why Naughty Dog went the direction they did, then you never understood the first game to begin with. A cruel world creates cruel stories. Now I'm not saying this a perfect game, but for people to write this game off with a 0/10 without logically reinforcing their opinions is sad and speaks volumes about the gaming community as a whole. Reading some of these reviews has lost me a few IQ points. Naughty Dog, thank you for bringing a nuanced and thought provoking sequel into the cultural zeitgeist. If you can sift through the thousands of nonsensical reviews you'll be sure to find people who honestly took the time to play the game whether they hated it or loved it.

    For me LOU is defined by its dense atmosphere. It makes you feel and believe that you live and survive in this beautiful and yet completely f***ed up world. Again, ND does the trick with unique art design, sound design and graphics.
The fights are scary, brutal and really intense. I can only compare it with Resident Evil 7 played with my VR headset. You do not want to die in this game -For me LOU is defined by its dense atmosphere. It makes you feel and believe that you live and survive in this beautiful and yet completely f***ed up world. The fights are scary, brutal and really intense. I can only compare it with Resident Evil 7 played with my VR headset. You do not want to die in this game - really you don’t as the consequences are breaching the limits of pain. The survival-horror-action gameplay is well known, however improved enough to make it fresh and captivating. The enemies are sometimes really clever, and other times downright stupid, which can kick you out of the immersion. Not always could I agree with the decisions of the characters and they carried me from frustration to despair. ND made very brave choices and I want to say thank you to all dogs. As far as I am concerned I am still enjoying family life.
    However, the game is not perfect and the story cannot reach the quality of LOU1. The main weak points I felt are:
    1) You cannot alter the fate of characters or change the story in any way. That was also not possible in LOU1, but the main theme of hatred and absolution asks for it and the game would have profited a lot from a flexible storyline.
    2) There is a strong disconnect between the story and gameplay. Its an issue shared with many other games (like Uncharted, TombRaider...) The characters don't fit their very own actions during gameplay.
    This disconnect reaches a whole new level in LOU2 when story and gameplay collide. In a single phrase: the theme of hatred and absolution does not fit 35 hours of bloody urban warfare.

    Art Design: 10/10

    Sound Design & Music: 10/10

    I first became a fan of The Last of Us when it was released on Playstation 3, I bought it and played it religiously. The gameplay, sound and above all the story were one of a kind. We met 2 amazing characters that will live and be remembered in the gaming history forever.
    I bough the game again (remastered) on Playstation 4, I've played the multiplayer numerous times with friends and had a blast every time. It is safe to say I was exited for The Last of Us 2 and got it on release date.
    I've been playing the game ever since I got it, a few hours everyday and today I finally finished it. The graphics, sound and especially level design surpass the part 1 by a country mile. The game is alive, more so than it was in the first instalment. Skeletons with notes feel like they once lived, the houses feel like they barely withstood quest of time and even the enemies feel like real people. The levels are more open-world, allowing the player to choose how much to explore and when to move on. There are dead-ends, screaming enemies, animals, the game feels alive.
    The music is fantastic, Santaolalla absolutely smashed it out of the park, in a horror game music might be the most important factor in making the player scared, and boy did that work. The amount of times I was hesitant to continue, or open a door were limitless.

    In my opinion the Story of part 2 might even be better than part 1. I understand that people don't like the curveball that is thrown midway through the story, and I didn't like it at first, but looking back at it, it might be the best thing Naughty Dog could have done. We get to see a different side of the situation a
    end Ellie learns from it right at the end.
    The end did leave me with questions and I wondered why Ellie even bothered making the entire journey if she ended it like that, but the message Naughty Dog want to express is clear and beautiful.

    All with all, if you liked part 1 you should 100% play this game, even if you end up not liking the story at the end, the gameplay, sound and level-design make up for it. I was not disappointed and I will replay this game most defiantly one day.    … Expand
