    The gameplay was incredibly immersive and a huge step up from the first game. you can hide in small grass, under trucks, navigate through small crevasses, etc. It was amazing and incredible.

    The graphics were probably the best I've seen on the PS4. so it has to be a 10.

    The story was incredible until the last 2 hours and because it took me just over 20 hours to beat the game, thats 1/10th of the story so I have to take a point off. Although I understand the ending from a theoretical point of view, I hated having to perform the action. I don't want to beat Ellie to near death. I don't want to drown Abby. But the game could not progress without me doing that. It wasn't enjoyable and I hated that section. I also hated how Ellie chose to get revenge on Abby after Abby had spared her life TWICE. three times total if you include abby driving away on the boat.

    I did really like the symbolism of ellie losing her fingers so she can't play guitar - her last connection to Joel. That really dug in me the heart then. But the ending wasn't enjoyable to play/watch. So for that I give 9/10 for the story.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'll start this off by saying TLOU1 was my favourite game of all time. For the time it had stunning graphics, sound design and most importantly, an amazing story. When the leaks came out for this game along with the backlash, I made sure to avoid them because I wanted to have a completely unbiased view on the game as I played it. After now finishing it, I can say it has replaced TLOU1 as my new favourite game.

    I'm not going to deny there were some controversial moments in it however, I still can't quite understand why people are so angry about this. What happened to a certain character set in motion the events of the entire game, and for the time I played as Ellie, I was beyond amazed at how incredible the game was. Excluding the gameplay (which was fantastic), the natural character building with everyone made me feel a connection like no other game has and my jaw spent most of its time on the floor.

    Then we get to the Abby section. It got better towards the end of her portion of the game but no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't enjoy it to the same level as Ellie's gameplay (which is why I have given it a 9 instead of a 10). The confrontation between the two had me trying so hard to not fight Ellie because I wanted her to win. Whilst I understand what she did and why she did it, nothing could make me forgive her which is what decreased my enjoyment for a significant portion of the game. This still doesn't justify the backlash though.

    No game has bounced my emotions around like this before, going from elated to borderline tears in a matter of minutes. Sure there were some shortcomings which has left the option for TLOU3 in around 10 years time once people have stopped complaining about a genuinely fantastic game, but the moment's people are salty over moved me more than any other game ever has.

    Playing this game with an open mind was the best choice by far. If I had read the leaks and seen how agitated some people had gotten, it would've ruined the experience. It is a brilliant game and you can clearly see the 5+ years of development that has gone into it. Well done Naughty Dog, and I sincerely hope the negative reviews haven't affected their decision to make a third iteration.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is one of the most immersive games I've ever played, I truly felt like I was part of the story. Although at first the change in perspective was very surprising, especially when you realize it's basically half of the game, it was very much needed and gave depth to all the characters. The moral conflict of every characters' decisions made the game even more engaging and almost by the end of the story when Ellie and Abby confront each other, you really don't know who to cheer for.

    Since I played both the prequel and this game for the story, the repetitive gameplay doesn't bother me. I did enjoy stealth kills and the part with the mini sandbox mode when exploring Seattle was one of the highlights of gameplay since it gave the player choices and wasn't as linear. Lastly, I'm very thankful to Naughty Dog for giving LGBTQ+ representation in a mainstream video game. I'd love for a small DLC epilogue where Ellie and Dina get back together.    … Expand

    NaughtyDog does it again. When it comes to storytelling they are the first developers that comes to our minds. This is an bold move into storytelling where a revenge story is not an action spectacle but an disturbing and depressing story which makes you ask yourself how far will you go for revenge? What is the cost? Will it be worth it? No doubt the gameplay, graphics, character models,NaughtyDog does it again. When it comes to storytelling they are the first developers that comes to our minds. This is an bold move into storytelling where a revenge story is not an action spectacle but an disturbing and depressing story which makes you ask yourself how far will you go for revenge? What is the cost? Will it be worth it? No doubt the gameplay, graphics, character models, facial expressions, environments, survival horror is top notch and a big take into gaming. After playing this game any other upcoming games feels and looks like nothing. One thing that i would like to say about this game is that after pplaying this game the first one feels justified and there could have been no other story that would have made you feel these rolercoster of emotions and successor to the first game.     I liked this game, intriguing story with a great twist on character involvement at different times. I am going to play it through again if not multiple times, I am looking forward to seeing what I missed the first time through.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is different compared to the first game, it’s different because the story isn’t focused on the bonding of Ellie and Joel. It’s about how you will loose things in life and how it’s hard to deal with it. This is shown because Ellie seeks revenge for Joel’s death. Naughtydog could’ve gone with another bonding story of the two characters we love, but they didn’t do that because there would be no need for a sequel. That’s why this game is different to the other, and I thought it was amazing.… Expand

    Great graphics, soundtrack and animations. Huge improvement in the gameplay, it feels much more smooth, technical aspects almost perfect. Plot quite simple but really emotional, very well dubbed. There are some problems with the story and the actions of characters but none of them are unreal or impossible in the game context, great overall after all.

    Fantastic game. Worthy of the praise from critics. It's story line is ballsy but deep and reflective. After the dumb fanboy hate dies down it will be remember very fondly in the future. It's basically gamings own Godfather Part II.

    Just finished my first play through and I absolutely loved it. Fantastic performances, heart breaking, gut wrenching moments, an incredibly beautiful soundtrack. Top notch game, I'm also really, really, rrrreeeeeallly enjoying watching all the homophobes have a butthurt melt down. Haha.

    No other media could better send the message than video-games and this one truly does. Yes, the game will make you feel uncomfortable, perhaps even disgusted but you will truly feel it and that's what art is about. Must play for everyone.

The twist that comes about half way through the game took me by surprise and forced me to rethink my previous convictions. Although I was first resistant to this twist, I soonThe Last of Us Part 2 is Naughty Dog's most ambitious and bold game yet. In my opinion, the risks that Naughty Dog took with this game really pay off and deliver a story that was deeply harrowing and challenging. The twist that comes about half way through the game took me by surprise and forced me to rethink my previous convictions. Although I was first resistant to this twist, I soon came around to what Naughty Dog was trying to do with the story and, by the time the credits rolled, I thought that the twist was a stroke of genius.

    However, I did find that the pacing of the story lagged a bit in the second half. I think most, if not all, of the story beats were needed in order to tell the story, but perhaps some of the game's combat encounters could have been cut down or removed in order tighten up the second half's pacing.

    Speaking of gameplay, if you enjoyed the first game's combat, you're going to love it in Part 2. Although the combat remains largely the same, new movement options - such as going prone, squeezing through tight spaces, and hiding in tall grass - offer the player knew options when tackling combat encounters. Although none of these added features are new to gaming at large, their inclusion in Part 2 is certainly a welcome addition. Coupled with the game's detailed animation system, the gameplay feels fluid, visceral and frantic.

    Some other notable mentions: the acting in this game is phenomenal, as you'd expect given the standard set by the first game. All the actors bring their A-game and there's not a single weak link in what is huge cast of characters. The cutscenes are beautifully animated and extremely impressive. You can see tiny details, such as characters' pupils dilate, veins popping, and even the removing of a character's shirt with realistic fabric physics and no clipping (I don't think I've ever seen that in a game before). It's clear that a huge attention to detail was paid in order to make this game look as good as it does, and squeeze as much out of the PS4 as possible.

    Overall, the game is a technical masterpiece with intense gameplay. I found the story very compelling, with some minor pacing issues, however I think it is also important to acknowledge how divisive the game has been. This is not a story for everyone. It's very heavy and exhausting to play, and I don't think anyone could have guessed the direction this story would go (prior to the leaks, of course.) And although some people (quite a lot actually) won't like the direction of this story, I believe the more open-minded you go into this game, the more likely you are to appreciate and respect what it's trying to do.    … Expand

All in all ist The Last of Us Part II one of the best games I ever played. The death from Joel is unexpected and very hard. At first I was very angry about this decision. After a few days, I think that was the right decision from Naughty Dog. I can´t understand the bad reviews. In may opinion Naughty Dog did a good job.… Expand

    Perhaps this is all that needs to be done to make our impressions impressive. You need to play this movie, but why did the developers go for such a risky scenario, why did they say that the game has improved NPS intelligence, but in fact these are all the same stupid zombies / bandits from the first part of the game. Why we were deceived in the Trailer, why in the game we played in a community of people. I want to break the most basic (in my opinion).

    Why was it necessary to add so much LGBT and feminism?
    I want to say, when I watched the game for the first time, I didn’t notice anything that the hand of feminism could touch and LGBT people don’t want to speak for everyone, but I really didn’t see that agenda, someone can argue and say that it’s here, but please take other games that were made a year or 2 ago and you will notice that TloU2 is the smallest propaganda that you have ever done, you have the right to challenge me because I do not pretend to be the role of the most inattentive person (ready to answer any a comment)

    Why did you need to say that you humanized the bandits, gave good intelligence to zombies and dogs?
    Well, here you can argue, because I did not come across the moments where the bandit / dog / walker did, some kind of nonsense, but everyone perceives it in his own way. BUT I really noticed that they really tried on Ellie, I don’t know why, but attacking her from behind playing for Abby was very problematic, because she moved super fast, and attacking can only be done from behind and this complicated the task of attacking her (personally for me) we can discuss that the developers worked very well on the sound of the shot / objects and other details. But this does not make sense, because anyone who watched / played could safely say that the game looks at the level of 2020, I did not want to say it for everyone, but it's hard to argue here.

    Why make such a finale?
    And here you can discuss, someone really didn’t like the final game and I won’t even argue because it’s obvious that the final game was ruined, but! The game could be continued, for example, to make an addition, where did Dean, Tommy go or where did Ellie go? All this could be continued thanks to the ending that we got, but from recent news, it turned out that the developers of the game (let's call it that) will not continue the story of Ellie or Abby doesn’t matter who, but the additions thanks to that ending could be made and I assure you if so many people bought the game, then they would buy the continuation of the story, I assure you of any character (I know that the developers may continue the game or will continue, no need to breed discussion!)

    But! That's not all, the game could have been done better if it had been! (my point of view) we were given the choice at the end of the game to kill Abby or to leave her alive and here we could safely end the story, but unfortunately we have what we were given. I played this game back to back with Last of Us Part I and not able to put down the controller. The main characters have very intricate personalities and at the same time predictable and unpredictable behavior, just like any of us. Everybody in the game is imperfect and evolving or devolving depending on the arc.

    Acting, photography, sound, and music was impeccable creating an incredible immersive experience.

    There is a lot of "treasure hunting" and it can break the climate and pace. I recommend leaving deep scavenging to a second play though. When you are rushing to save lives, stopping to grab artifacts is just wrong. It is amazing that the game tackles even that. I recall taking time to go around to find an artifact for a trophy, the NPC would sarcastically say that it was waiting for you. Don't recall the exact words, but it is striking.

    It is sad the game frustrated so many people for various reasons. Maybe i was immune to that because I absolutely do not go after news, reviews or watch videos about the game prior to playing. The only media I have watched was the official release videos from Naughty Dog and Sony. I knew nothing that could spoil my experience.

    Like most people, I almost deleted the game upon watching the gore death of Joel. That was a sucker punch, the feelings were a mix of hate, frustration, sadness. But i kept playing, I wanted to make sense of what was going on. As the game concluded, the negative emotions were gone and I feel Joel is finally at peace with himself and Ellie.

    Owen was such an underrated protagonist. He was the only person that could talk Abby out of it, but out of vengeance and love for Abby, he decided not to antagonize. I don't think he regretted been part of Joel's murder, but he made sense of the world, decided to value life and inspired Abby to change.

    This is one of the few games that make sense of violence and guns. Murder is just gratuitous and easy. It is the solution for every problem humanity has. And that is at the center of both parts. Joel refusing to let Ellie die for a chance to save humanity, was the first spark to change status quo.     This is my first time writing a game review and, as I do so, the current user score is a 4.7/10. As I read through these reviews, my impression is that most of the negative reviewers are not yet at a stage in their life where they can appreciate a game like this.

    Rather, I suspect that the people most inclined to appreciate this game are those who can tolerate and understand that:
    [1] sometimes people you like will make choices that you wish they hadn't made.
    [2] the world, especially in TLOU, can be savage and unjust -- sometimes people you care about will suffer in ways that feels undignified, unexpected, and/or unfair.
    [3] some people are romantically attracted to people of the same gender and/or identify or express themselves in ways that don't align with "traditional" gender expectations. That doesn't make them any less of a human being, even if it causes you discomfort.

That’s exactly why there are plenty of negative comments. You need a certain emotional intelligence to understand. As we accompany Ellie's crash throughout her revenge. From murder to murder. The masterfully cut back memories. From half the game, we also understand and feel why Abby did what she did and we follow along as she loses everything for a revenge. It was also a good move that Lev would have a 'conscience.' As their acquaintance changed Abby. When he finally leaves Ellie alive and comes to live with Dina. there as he cannot let go of this situation from his thought and torments him. Finally, when they both get to the end, they lose everything that is important to them because of revenge. We got a great structure and finally got a game of giving and teaching something. I personally liked the last of us 2 it shows us a way ellie copes with Joel’s death and how she begins as a cute innocent girl to a toughened rough fighter because of what she’s seen and experienced and it shows us a lot of how Joel impacted her and how she will avenge him, certain parts could’ve been done better and could’ve showed more of Joel and made it more emotional but in short, I liked it a lot

    I liked a specific scene where Joel sings to Ellie, because the last words Joel heard from ellie was ‘I’ll try to forgive you’ and then you see him smile with happiness and it makes u feel that even tho he died he died knowing that he was forgiven by Ellie and that’s all he wanted, he was scared to share his emotions to people since his daughter died but with Ellie how could he not since he saw so much of his daughter in her. The last of us 2 isn’t a bad game it just could’ve been better, they tried something new and in some areas it succeeded but it others it failed but what u need to see is this is possibly the best scene in the entire game as you see the same bond they shared in the first game take place here and it just puts a smile on your face how much he cared for her, overall a 9/10 game but their relationship puts a smile on everyone’s face. :’)    … Expand

    This was phenomenal storytelling for me. Yes, I hated that Joel was killed. But, this story ends up being about so much more. It’s about found family, tragedy, and revenge—and how far characters are willing to go. It’s about understanding two sides of the same coin. It has dark moments, and some of the most beautiful and touching moments. If you’re on the fence about the game, I highly recommend it if you love storytelling. This game deserves so much more than the flak it’s currently getting. Look to the critics for actual insight, and not to the hate campaign on this site.

Just watching your surroundings for 10 minutes what i would never do in a different game. The story tho was something i did not expect i don't not see the leaks or so only the trailers so i was really hurt when i Joel died i really wanted to get the old feeling back playing with Joel and Ellie but yes that was not gonna happen. Ik liked the way how they tried to give 2 perspectifes, but even tho they tried so hard i did not feel anything for Abby but i liked the story and gameplay with here just being a god damn beast going trough all the enemy's. The ending was a bit rushed in my opinion the scene in the farmhouse could be a better ending when Tommy says that Ellie has promised it, but she kept saying no, it could lead up to a next game. Last of Us Part 2 continues to make the experience an emotional roller coaster. I have gone from hating Abby to caring so much for her that i didnt want to kill her despite what she has done.
    This game is not about revenge, it's about forgiveness and redemption. Joel was treated the way this world treats everyone. Despite him being all caring and sweet towards Ellie dooesn't make him an all good character. He, like everyone else in that world, did everything to survive. Including killing lots and lots of innocent people and torturing them. Even though he is one of the most beloved characters in gaming history, he didn't deserve a poetic and beatiful death. Joel's choices catched up to him and he was killed by the people he has wronged in the past. Joel's story was executed perfectly.

    Abby's storyline shows us that no one in that world is simply black or white, everyone is right in their own perspective. It's really rare to see the antagonist as a normal human being amd not just some villian the protagonist has to kill to achieve some goal. In the end, i cared for Abby as much as i cared for Ellie. The cycle of violance and how the only way out is not revenge but forgiveness was executed to perfection.

    The graphics in this game is the most realistic in all of gaming. The game is so beautiful that i took over 2.5 GB of screenshot from the game. I showed few of these screenshots to my girlfriend without telling her where they are from and she actually thought this was from real life. Every shot in this game is a masterpiece and ı found myself staring at some scenery quite often.

    Gameplay was so smooth that i felt like i was in the game. Naughty Dog has always managed to make the gameplay a phenomenal experience. Killing infected and humans never felt so satisfying. Stalkers and Shamblers add so much anxiety and fear to the experience. Constantly checking the corners to see if some stalker is spying on me is truly one of the most stresful thing i have experienced. There are so many opportunities for combat, whether its making the human enemies fight with dogs or holding a human as a shield so that clickers can eat them right out of your hands is amazing. Never before i played a game that made the NPC's feel so much allive. Everyone in this game has a name, a loved one and emotion. The attention to detail was top notch and ı give my respects to everyone at Naught Dog for putting so much work even to tiny things. Every room i entered made me think " It's a weird feeling to be in a room where 25 years ago somebody else called this place a home"

    Music in this game was out of this world. Gustavo managed to make you feel the vibe of every scene you are experiencing. The music in the action scenes especially makes you on the edge.
    And despite what everyone is saying, the ending was excellent. Ellie thought she had to kill Abby to get rid of her PTSD. But once she sees Abby tied up in the pillars, she realized that she's not just some girl that killed, Ellie saw how much Abby cares for Abby (Which is a reflection of Ellie and Joel from the first game). But as soon as she was letting them go, she saw Joel's face being beaten to death and she thought killing Abby would make this right. But just as she is drowning her, she sees Joel again. But this time it's a flashback from the night before he was killed, it's about forgiveness. This is the moment she truly lets Abby go.

    Questo è il gioco che tutti i fan di TLOU hanno aspettato. Ogni cosa in questo gioco ci fa capire che la verità non sta in una sola"parte" ma che bisogna ascoltare tutte e due le "campane".
    I personaggi sono ben studiati, il gameplay è molto bello(meglio quello "stealth" di Ellie rispetto a quello più aggressivo di Abby), ma il vero punto di forza di questo The Last of us parte 2 è la trama che va a collegarsi perfettamente con il finale della prima parte.
    I colpi di scena(come la morte di Joel) ti danno tante emozioni che sono molto diverse l'una dall'altra. La morte di Joel all'inizio ti fa quasi piangere ma subito dopo la sepoltura ti trasmette rabbia e voglia di vendetta, al contrario la morte di Jesse(che avviene quando meno te lo aspetti) ti lascia quasi incredulo e ti fa ricordare quanto buono e gentile fosse il suo personaggio.
    Riguardo ad alcuni dei nuovi personaggi invece: Ho trovato che Dina fosse un personaggio perfetto come spalla di Ellie, la maggior parte dei lupi non mi sono dispiaciuti affatto e hanno dato un tocco in più al gioco, ed infine Abby Lev e Yara il gioco te li ha fatti passare per cattivi per Ellie ma in realtà anche loro ne hanno passate tante.
    Il finale è stato molto commovente con Ellie che tornando a casa capisce che ormai non gli è rimasto più nulla e che la sua voglia di vendetta le ha rovinato la vita.



    PS. A mio parere un The Last of us parte 3 o un DLC potrebbe anche uscire magari spiegando la storia dei serafiti e del perché della guerra contro i lupi oppure spiegando come alcune luci si siano riunite e perché non danno la caccia ad Ellie    … Expand

    Todos los que dan mala calificación por 1 o 2 cositas son los mismos que se quejan por todo y no son capaces de disfrutar del arte sin ofenderse por todo, sinceramente me pone triste ese hecho.

    First off I have to say that I really detest the review bombing of this game right after release when it's obvious, that the players didn't even have the time to play this game. I also think counter rating the game as a 10/10 doesn't help either. Either way don't do this game justice.
    Now I'd like to say that I enjoyed the game as you can see in the score. I also understand, that people wanted a continuation of the narrative of the first game, yet I think it is unfair to slander this game based only on the fact, that people didn't get the wholesome, heartwarming narrative. To call the narrative of this game bad, garbage, crap or whatever other adjective people use just show that people can't rate this game as an individual game. Of course both games are connected through characters and setting, but is it really that bad for the developers to go in a different direction with a sequel? I certainly don't think so. It was quite obvious that this game is going a more darker path judging by the trailers. It may have been somewhat dishonest by the developers to alter the trailers slightly, but it is nothing new in the industry.

    Now to the actual review of this game.
    First off the graphics. one word is enough to describe it which is gorgeous.
    The mechanics are simmilar to the first game, but it was definitely polished with dodging enemy mele attacks, proning, hiding in tall grass, environmental puzzles with ropes and the absolutely detailed, smooth and beautiful reaction of the characters to the environment and hits.
    As I mentioned above, the narrative is darker than the first game. If you don't like games with dark stories and themes, this might not be your cup of tea. But if you are fine with it, a well written and very nuanced story awaits you. This game has everything a good and complete narrative needs to have. The setting, with a bit of Jackson, a very beautiful and detailed Seattle and also beautiful Santa Barbara in the last part of the game. There are the well established characters from the first game like Joel, Eliie and Tommy, but also new characters like Ellie's love interest Dina, their good friend and Dina's ex Jesse, Lev, who plays a important role and of course Abby. There also are minor characters like Abby's friends and Yara for example. Now let me make clear the sexual preferences of the charcters. Ellie is obviously lesbian, which we already knew from the Left behind DLC of the first game, Dina is bisexual, Abby is NOT transgender contrary to what was rumored pre release after the leaks, but Lev is transgender, which plays a small role in the narrative.
    The Plot as many probably already know is Joel getting brutally killed by Abby and Ellie setting off on a quest to seek revenge. the death of Joel, which is very controversial, comes early in the game. Why is it controversial? Because Joel was a well loved main character from the first game and many, think that the way Joel died, or rather that Joel acted out of character trusting strangers. But if you pay close attention to what happened before and read the logbooks in the outposts, you'll know it wasn't out of character and that the same would have happened no matter what. That was what I meant with nuanced, that you can miss a thing like the logbook. There aren't only logbooks but dialogues between characters that are missable during parts in which you control them or not so obvious dialogues during cutscenes. The game is full of them. That is what makes this story great, but also the reason why people think the narrative is bad.
    I don't want to go into too much detail, but you'll play quite a long part as Abby and it is very inportant for players to fully understand the theme and narrative of the game. If you can set aside your feelings, probably hatred and disgust, towards Abby and what happened to Joel, you'll realize that Abby's arc is very important.
    The game also have wholesome moments in forms of flashbacks.
    I don't want to write the whole story down as it's between 25 and 30 hours long and I'm also running out of available characters, so I'll let you experience the majority of the story yourself.
    The leaks have done a tremendous amount of damage to this game as it didn't show the nuanced parts and important details of the game.
    Please make sure to go into the game with a neutral mindset and please make sure to pay attention to detail as it is important to understand the greater narrative and the also controversial ending as well.

    My final conclusion: It's a game with beautiful graphics (probably the best on PS4), great mechanics and also a great story. Again it is very important to pay attention to details to get the nuances and you'll experience a great, very human story of revenge, love and redemption.    … Expand

    I just finished this game and really enjoyed it. I loved the original last of us and this contains more of everything except multiplayer (which is too bad). I've heard that there might be a standalone multiplayer in the future though. The story is really dark so it's probably only suitable for mature players.

I started with so much anger, hatred, and sadness, and throughout the story those feelings are shifted, and subverted. I’ve questioned the bonds I’ve made, and questioned the decisions I’ll make. The bold “in your face” story this game tells, is an experience like none other. I never felt good playing this game, the mood was always dark, and treacherous, with small glimpses of light, only to be darkened again. For some, this story may be to deep and dark, for me the story deserves a 10/10. For gameplay I played on hard and enjoyed my experience, I will note that the infected could’ve been more terrifying as I felt the A.I. was a little dull, until fully active, then they were a force to be reckoned with. The human A.I. however were totally unpredictable and save scumming yielded different results. They almost felt real, calling out names of friends when killed, I felt more immersed and excited when I encountered the human A.I. Now the puzzles were super easy for me and gave me no sense of accomplishment, until the ropes came into play, still easy, it felt like a new experience and it was fun! You’ll be searching and scavenging big open maps, and small narrow laid out areas, I loved the level design, even the small blocked off areas felt natural, and stunning. Also this game has so many settings and accessibility options it sets a new bar for accessibility! For the gameplay I’ll give it a 9/10 as I felt the infected weren’t as menacing as the humans in the game, they felt predictable and all the glass and debris on the ground should’ve alarmed those close to me, but that may be nitpicking! Overall the gameplay and the experience I felt from this story is a solid 10/10! And I feel like the true fans will appreciate and be blown away by this title!… Expand

Many of the user reviews were published without completing or even playing the game. The Last of Us part II is a worthy successor to the first game! The story is very emotionally heavy but it is handled masterfully. All the time and effort that Naughty Dog has put into this game is very apparent. Just like the first game, TLOU2 is the best looking game of this console generation. This is the first game that made me use the screenshot feature on my PS4 just because of how many beautiful scenes and vistas this game is packed with! Aside from how beautiful this game looks, the gameplay is also insanely polished and fun! There is a new level of verticality added to encounters that were borrowed from uncharted 4, and man does it allow for some high adrenaline skirmishes! Ellie is very fun to control and though she’s no powerhouse like Joel, who was able to overpower his foes due to his old man strength, her movements are very fluid and her survival skills show just how much she has grown since the first game! ***!SPOILER!***
    In the world of The Last of Us, every action has repercussions and consequences. Though Joel’s actions at the end of the first game were done to save the life of the person he cared for more than anyone, these same actions also destroyed the life of someone else. When Abby takes revenge on Joel, she only sees him as a monster who deserved to die. She was so focused on getting revenge that she didn’t care about any of the ramifications and then Ellie is placed in the same situation when she seeks revenge on Abby. Both of these characters are fueled by vengeance over a lost loved one and it hurts, and even kills, all those around them. By the end of the game they have both lost so much because of their journey for revenge and if Ellie would have followed through then she would have become just like the monster we thought Abby was at the beginning of the game and this cycle of vengeance would have only continued. The only way Ellie was able to forgive Abby was because of her relationship with Joel. Seconds before she was about to kill Abby, Ellie remembers her final words to Joel in the conversation where she forgave him for what he did at the end of part 1. She knew that Joel wouldn’t want to see her this consumed by hate. This may not have been the story that everyone wanted but the Last of Us isn’t scared to be a grounded experience where we can lose people close to us in a matter of seconds. Just like in real life, no matter how you want things to go you can never control the future, but you can learn from experiences in the past and that is exactly what Ellie learns by the end of the game. Losing Joel felt like losing a father figure from our lives but that’s a real world experience that most of us will eventually go through. Ellie is Joel’s legacy and she became everything he could ask for as a father. Thank you Naughty Dog for all your hard work that you put into this game!    … Expand

    The progression in weapons and abilities is an aspect that in my point of view only exists to accompany the combat, it frivolizes the gameplay a little, sometimes diverting our attention from the main plot. And it is that this mechanic even serves as a tool to decrease tension in situations where it is necessary to lower a few decibels.

    In technical aspects I think that it is not necessary to say much, the game enters through the eyes in a phenomenal way and although the first thing we can think about is, if the game has good narrative and good mechanics, the graphics are not important! but, in this case, they are! Each place tells a story that thanks to the visual quality of the game becomes more interesting. There are scenarios that are nice to visit for the simple fact of how they look. The facial expressions of the characters, the animations, the enemies, the zombies absolutely everything has a sickly level of detail.

    Another aspect to highlight is the sound. The music accompanies each scene in an incredible way and the ambient sounds and the characters are taken care of in detail so as not to be out of tune with the climate of tension or tranquility in which we are.

    There are no direct comparisons for this game so it is impossible to measure it comparatively with others and it is precisely this that makes the score of this analysis a 10.

    As an extra I think it is necessary to say that the personal aspects of the characters (such as gender) do not appear fiercely, this has a small background, and although in the audiovisual industry there are examples of the use of these themes to simply earn money with what It is on everyone's lips, this is not the case, the narrative is well cared for so that does not happen.    … Expand

    I just finished the game right now, and I can't understand how people say the narrative sucked. It just perfectly fits the purpose of it, meaning dealing with forgiveness, vengeance, wars, miscommunication, on different scales. Nations, groups of people, individuals... This game indeed is sad, cause nothing goes unpunished, even for Joel, Ellie and Tommy, and that's the way the world is. Naturally.
    Go buy and play this game at any cost : it's just one big masterpiece once you're able to understand it, not wasting your time with complaining when the game's plot does not match your naive expectations, or when two girls kiss each other and you're frustrated about people loving each other.     The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
