    Finished with my playtrough of part 2 now. If you enjoyed the first game you will probably enjoy this one aswell. Not gonna make a review of this as there is plenty of proffesionals reviews out ther that are spot on.

    If all the negative reviews here from conservative unsecure people puts you off... dont let it. Its just the usual locust swarm trying to ruin gaming.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A beautiful and tragic tale of what revenge and grieve does to people, I guess that would be the best way to describe it.

    On the technical side, is god damn masterpiece. Animation, environment art, character art, design and more. TLOU2 is the result of the most amazing artists, designers and programmers working in the industry right now, the best way to the end the PS4 era.

    On the story. *sigh* Here we go: I loved it. It made me angry, made me feel lust for revenge, made me happy, sad and much more. It was an emotional rollercoaster that made me stay on the edge of my seat the entire time.
    It is by no means a "happy ending" game which it what is making people angry! You love Joel and Ellie, you want them to succeed, to survive, to win, they are the protagonist after all. But ND showed us that this world is NOT like Uncharted. At the end of the day is a sad story and that is why is so beautiful, is not about "who wins", is about the characters and they nailed that. My appreciation for Joel and Ellie just wen through the roof and the way they handled the relationship between those two was really good. Also: TOMMY IS A BADASS

    Not all is gold of course. My biggest issues are pacing in gameplay and in the storytelling:
    In gameplay:n it feels anything when you have played and upgraded Ellie for so much, to suddenly change to Abby and start all over again, no upgrades whatsoever. It feels a big stop to momentum.

    In storytelling: Abby's relationship with her father is not explored AT ALL which makes no sense to me since that would have been a better way for us as players to connect with her and feel MORE her obsession with revenge as well. All we got was a cliche flashback where the guy saves a zebra, kinda lie the game telling you "look, he is a very good guy, feel bad for him and Abby!", is not enough ND, it just isn't.

    Last but not least: the game is very long, like almost 30 hours or so, and the gameplay stops evolving at some point which makes the last part of the game feel repetitive, but not boring thou thanks to some great level design that does make every encounter feel almost unique.

    Final words: don't give in to the hate. Buy it, is an amazing experience that and an awesome game. Also: probably a great game is you need to relieve stress!    … Expand

    I personally really enjoyed this title and what’s even more exciting (to me) is that the story actually has many areas to progress in vs the first game. I do hope that we get a trilogy in the series.

The story is provocative, challenges you to try and handle difficult emotions, takes you to very dark, uninviting places, both literally and metaphorically, and invites you to try challenge your previous assumptions.

    Yes,things happen that are just plain sad and hard to accept, and having to play abby is emotionally hard at first, but if you do so open minded, it could surprise you.

    Gameplay was improved, graphics are top notch for consoles, the exploration feels rewarding, stealth is pretty cool, AI is a bit better, accessibility options are the best ever and enemy variety is pretty nice now.

    Honestly, haven't been able to play anything else after finishing this game, still digesting it.

    And please, don't buy into that crap people have been saying. There are legitimate concerns and criticisms, but overall, people are just crying the story is not what they wanted. It had no obligation to be so.    … Expand

    The best story I’ve ever experienced in a video game. The only thing close is the first game, however this one out does itself. Well done, Naughty Dog. You rightfully deserve every positive review of this game. Negative remarks are comical and baseless to say the least.

    Fantastic game. Ignore the 0’s, many come from people who haven’t even played the game. Incredible animations and gameplay, great graphics. The world is beautiful and immersive and I had a great time exploring it. Story can be divisive and controversial, but I think as a whole the game is great.

    Story pacing and narrative issues are present, but opposite of the review bombing, I'm going to have to ignore it. Would've said like an 8 or 9, but this is a 10 out of spite.     if it's not broken don't fix it gameplay and is still good as the first one. The story is alright despite the backlash it got from a certain event that happen in the game or a certain character you get to play mid game. I just don't get the 0 to 2 score it got from some users. I also miss the scary feeling I experience from the first games generator section which I think this game lacks a little bit.     For me this was a really great and fun game. Game of the Year for me at the moment. It took me on a roller coaster ride of emotions and not many games do this me. Don’t listen to the negative reviews and play the game for yourself and take yourself on the journey. It will surprise you

    please note i have completed this game in its entirety. Now im going to be fair with this review the story was bold and the twist that the game had where the essentially turned abby into a joel 2.0 i thought really developed the character and made me feel compassion for her, however i did feel that her story felt like it dragged on forever and i just wanted to return to the theatre andplease note i have completed this game in its entirety. I think the graphics audio and gameplay where very good gameplay was similar to the first as i expected. I gave this game an 8 as it did what a good game was suppose to it gave me a decent story and fun gameplay that kept me entertained its not perfect or a 0 its just a average game for a gamer to enjoy. i will say that the first game is better and i hope if there is a next week that it can return to its roots and continue a great series… Expand

    Not a perfect game, marred by some genuinely awful pacing and a few decisions in the story that seem to have been made to drive the plot forward rather than in keeping with the characters (but the chain of events could easily have happened within the universe, just in a slightly more understandable way. It's also very interesting to be forced to play as such an unlikeable character for so long that unless you're too stubborn to change, you can at the very least start to understand over the games run time. I've been debating whether this is a 7 or 8 out of 10 since I finished it, but honestly the unnecessary amount of hate has forced me to push my score up as it truly does not deserve the bombing it's received, and whilst I understand and actually agree with some of the criticisms, this is still an important game to have been made and I'm thoroughly glad I have experienced it despite its flaws.… Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is truly a spectacle. The gameplay and story are extremely well done. The pacing is perfect. The game looks amazing. Everything about it just works. I could totally feel for the characters every step along the way. Everyone should play this game.

    Narratively, this game is an epic. The story goes all over the American west and from different perspectives. There was a time when this game could have been sold as two beefy 13 hour campaigns. For better or worse, gamers expect longer campaigns and studios are delivering. This game took me 26 hours to finish and none of it felt padded. Like a Rockstar game or The Witcher 3, every segment felt meaningful.

    My problems with the game are the controls and the abuse of cutscenes and scripted events. The controls are simply awful. The game settings have a few auto-aim options and I should have selected them. Aiming feels terrible and I often reloaded a save because I couldn’t make easy headshots. At one point in the game, an NPC tells Ellie that Ellie is the best shot in city. If that’s true, then everyone else must have the accuracy of Star Wars Storm Trooper. Selecting weapons and reloading could also have been easier. The odd controls include pressing the right trigger to reload and can only fire a gun while holding the left trigger to aim. In 26 hours of playing the game, the obtuse controls never felt intuitive.

    The game has every trope from every forced cutscene that has ever been in games. The player character will be grabbed when you open a door or crawl through a small space. It happens about a dozen times and you might think the player characters would go start to go through gaps with their guns pointed. There is a horror game quality that necessitates a few jump scares but none of them are scary when they happen ALL THE TIME! There are also times when you know that an enemy cannot be defeated because they are an essential character. An experienced, cynical gamer such as myself will not waste their ammo on scripted events.

    The overall story is good and I do not want to spoil it, but the story depends on the characters never telling each other the whole story about anything. The entire game could be over before it started if certain characters said “I am _____, from ______, and I am mad because _______ did _______.” Instead the motivations of the characters are dangled before us as some kind of emotional mysteries. Again, as an experienced cynical gamer, I see these things immediately and grow a bit frustrated with the player characters.

    Last point on the story, Ellie is a toxic codependent personality and I do not like her or support any of her decisions. She gives her friends ultimatums and uses their affection for her against them. All of her decisions are selfish, no matter how petty her goals. Her friends are codependent enablers. Good people and doggies die because their toxic relationships with each other. The player is given no choices to alter the narrative. You cannot redeem Ellie. This story is a tragedy and you have to play it out.

    All in all, The Last of Part 2 is a game of the year contender. While I do think this game has endemic issues of an industry that defines a “survival game” as a game bad controls and frustrating scripted events, the game is meticulously designed with a giant scope and many, many wow moments.    … Expand

    With the new movement and actions, a new way of moving through the scenarios was created, although little used the way of throwing cables could have generated very interesting puzzles.

    As for the story, I understand the motivation of the characters and how each one arrived in this emotional state, however the best story was on account of the secondary Lev and his sister.

    So I finally finished this game and I gotta say, this is one of the most beautiful stories in a game that I have played. Now I accept, that everyone will have a differing opinion on the games story but personally I loved it. There some really strong messages about people, revenge, love and forgiveness.     Graphically, the game is one of the best things i've ever seen. Sound design is top notch. The voice acting and animation, top notch.

    Gameplay wise it was a vast improvement over the first one. movement was smoother, combat was visceral. It was fun to sneak around, or just start tossing everything when things got crazy. I loved finding the notes and listening to your companions which fleshed out the story and characters even more.

    I did have issues with the pacing at times but overall it kept me wanting to keep playing, just to see what happens next.

    I will say this, while I did play the Last of Us 1, i don't have the same attachment to the characters that i know some people, including my friends had. I had no "headcanon" of what I wanted out of the story for part 2 and was just excited to experience the story that the developers wanted to tell. I understand that this story, is not going to be popular with everyone, Some may even hate it, and that is fine. Everything I wrote is my personal opinion.    … Expand

    I get it... it's not the story you wanted. But isn't good storytelling something you didn't expect. I love the story... AGAIN it's not the "warm fuzzy" story I wanted to give me those feels... but good, I'm glad naughty dog too another risk and gave me a story and experience I'll never forget. I feel bad so many people put this game on too high of a pedestal. this game is a flawedI get it... it's not the story you wanted. But isn't good storytelling something you didn't expect. I love the story... AGAIN it's not the "warm fuzzy" story I wanted to give me those feels... but good, I'm glad naughty dog too another risk and gave me a story and experience I'll never forget. Тут даже и обсуждать нечего, графика, механика, геймплей, атмосфера, все на высшем уровне, тю, ну это же НД и Нил Дракман, сама подача истории, 2 совершенно разные сюжетные линии, которые с одной стороны было очень рисковый ход, а сдругой, очень необычно и качествено, показывают и раскрывают полностью персонажей с разных сторон, да, за время игры будут вопросы, почему, за чем, за что, но проходя дальше и дальше, вы поймёте весь посыл, который нам хотели передать создатели данного шедевра, если вы хотите ощутить на себе сильные эмоции, то ТЛОУ2 для вас.

I really feel like this universe is built in a more adult way. Even in certain issues like the characters looking away when we try to get close to them with the camera is a sign that their lives belong to them, like for example in Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, where we are one of the voices handling Senua and he looks away from our excessive control. Their lives are theirs. And that's why at certain times the decisions are feared by them and not by us. The Last of Us 2 is probably the best video game I've ever played.… Expand

Ellie and Joel are not your creations. You may have been happier to have had another cross country trail with the two of them however instead you were provided with a truly unique experience. You were forced to realise that everyone has their own story and why they act the way they do instead of the usual dumbed down good and evil dynamic. This game was lost on you and to be honest a lot of life will be also. It was a devastating ending which was heartbreaking. It wasn’t happy however there remains hope that both characters can find happiness in a world which has really gone to **** Revenge is poisonous and cost both these characters a heavy price. I’m thankful for the experience. Naughty Dog own these characters and created them and I trust them with the narrative. Not some whiney clowns who want to be spoon fed artificial grief but always with a happy ending in conclusion. Grow up.… Expand

Very evocative and emotional with superb gameplay. If you are a mature player who likes interesting movies and books you will love it.     Combat is hard and that's the way it should be. You're not happy ? Go play Ghosts Of Tsushima which has the dumbest AI you can find.
    The atmosphere and immersion are also top notch.
    There is no filler stuff here, if you want that, again, go play Ghosts Of Tsushima.
    Graphics and visuals are up there with the best. Even better than Days Gone.
    It's hard to believe this is possible with just an APU.

    The Last Of Us Part II is one of the best followups to a critically acclaimed title I have every played in my life. Story wise the game is consistently captivating from beginning to end. The mechanics of the game have improved a ton also while staying true to the original flawlessly. Naughty Dog has truly outdone themselves with this fantastic title.

    Finished it. It's a game unlike any that I've played, and that's not always a good thing, though here, I believe it is. It makes you feel things rarely what game has the courage to even mention. I wouldn't recommend it to everyone, but I genuinely liked it.

A few character decisions are out of place and there are more than several moments that are eye-rollingly heavy handed.

    Overall, TLOU2 isn't the masterpiece that I think many critics have portrayed it as. It's an ambitious title that pushes the capabilities of the medium, but as an experience it's overly long, self-important, and doesn't say as much as it thinks it does. It is still a great time, and if you were a fan of the shoot-em and loot-em mechanics from the first game you'll feel at home here. La criticada muerte de joel, es de las más respetuosas y explicitas que se han mostrado en la historia de los video juegos, dando un sentimiento de vulnerabilidad e incomodidad instantaneos. Siendo objetivos, joel encajaba perfectamente tanto como villano o héroes, y de eso se trata. El juego cumple con creces el objetivo: derrocar el clásico cliché del buen samaritano cambiándolo por el protagonista que cosecha lo que siembra, sea como sea. El juego decae cuando tomamos el control de abby, dando un periodo de juego que se siente demasiado extendido y algo sintético o genérico. Es aca donde TLOU2 desmerece el 10, dando una experiencia que a ratos se hace insufrible y que decae totalmente frente a lo mostrado con ellie. Sin embargo no todo es malo con abbie y el final del juego, dando aspectos que alimentan al personaje para ir predisponernos hacia los sentimientos que se quieren invocar en el final del juego.     This game is lovingly crafted and polished down to the last pixel. The animations, graphics, environments, art direction, gameplay, music, sound design, acting, and storytelling are all lovingly crafted by people who clearly cared about making the best product they could.

    The story, particularly in relation to the original game, is the sole source of all the ire directed toward this game. I must stress that the story telling is top notch, it's just that the story Mr. Druckmann chose to tell is the problem.

    The game starts out promising enough, where you play as Joel riding on horseback toward a breathtakingly gorgeous view of Jackson in the distance. You and Tommy are out on the plains of Wyoming under a sunset while a sombre guitar rift gently yet strikingly plays. It's all incredibly perfect and really makes you feel that you're walking into something great. And it is great.

    Until Joel gets brutally murdered by a woman with the most freakishly bizarre character physique I've ever seen on a video game character.

    Everything regarding the narrative is kind of downhill from here. Ellie turns into a merciless killer on a quest for revenge, and the moment you are about to get it, you're suddenly FORCED TO PLAY AS THE BIZARRELY DESIGNED TESTOSTERONE-LADEN WOMAN WHO MURDERED JOEL, and you're forced to play as her for nearly half the game! I can only guess the reason they did this is to humanize her and make you feel some sort of compassion and understanding for her actions, but that's pretty hard to do considering that you didn't do this until AFTER she murdered the character we already spent an entire game playing as, learning to love him despite his objective faults. He was one of the most well developed, most human characters I've ever seen in fiction, and killing him off the way they did felt like a huge middle finger to everyone who loved the first game. And after all this, this lengthy revenge quest, you never actually get it, and are just left with a sad, unsatisfying ending where Ellie essentially loses everything. The most frustrating part of all of this is that the game is incredibly well made, so I cannot really hate it. I just kind of wish I'd never played it.

    It's all very sad and unrewarding and makes you wish they'd never made a sequel, because they shouldn't have. The absolute hands down highlights of this game are, ironically, the series of flashbacks you go through with Ellie and Joel from years past. There's one in particular where it's Ellie's Birthday and Joel takes her to an abandoned museum and well...it's heartwarming and just so damn perfect and great in every way, so much so that it pretty much made the game worth playing despite how much I loathed the ending.

    All I can say is this: if you liked the original game's story and cared about its characters, there's a very high likelihood you will not like this game, and I would recommend you steer clear of it, I know I wish I had. But it's nothing resembling a bad game, and it doesn't even come close to deserving all the negative user reviews here. I just wish they'd have taken the story in a different direction and handled Ellie and Joel's stories differently, and that's why I completely understand where all the negative reviews are coming from. But when you look at it for what it is, a video game, and how it plays, and how well it's made, there's really no justification for low scores.    … Expand

    Siguiendo con la historia, el final no me parece el adecuado. Ni por lo que mueve a actuar a Ellie ni por lo que acabas sintiendo hacia los personajes. Y damas y caballeros, lo cierto es que Abby se come a Ellie como personaje. La primera es un mastodonte a la que crees odiar y que poco a poco ves su humanidad y sus motivos para actuar como lo hace. Ellie, con su aparente fragilidad, es un auténtico monstruo que se termina haciendo odiosa. Sí, mi final hubiera sido distinto pero es lo que hay.

    Gráfica y técnicamente, un portento. Qué gráficos, qué expresiones faciales. Qué puedo decir, cada vez PS4 presenta mejores productos en este sentido. El aspecto sonoro tampoco se queda atrás, tanto en bso como efectos de sonido. Y una calidad sobresaliente en el doblaje.

    La jugabilidad es similar al anterior y aunque en general es buena, a veces he tenido la sensación que podría ser mejor. En este juego, matar enemigos llega a hacerse incómodo. Cuando acabas con un perro que va a atacarte, escuchas los lamentos de sus amos. Cuando matas a una persona, igual, lo llaman por su nombre. También se animan entre ellos para enfrentarse a ti. La IA no es ni mucho menos idiota y si no andas con ojo, te lo pondrán muy difícil.

    En definitiva, si tienes una PS4 juégalo sin duda, es un juegazo. Lo que tengo dudas es que sea el mejor de la generación como algunos afirman. ¿Superior a Bloodborne? ¿Uncharted 4? ¿The Witcher 3? ¿Horizon Zero Dawn? y tantos otros. En mi opinión, aunque son temáticas distintas, no.

    Ni reivindicaciones políticas ni leches (sí, hay una pareja de lesbianas y un personaje tiene disforia de género) pero ni mucho menos es machacón ni te lo meten con calzador a la mínima oportunidad, ni mucho menos. Juégalo!! y juzga por ti mismo.    … Expand

The story is made to stab a knife on you, it will destroy you, you will be angry for the things that happens, but you need to understand that this is a world where these and worse things can happen, the death of Joel is the consequence of the things he did in the final part of the first game, and if you think with a cold head, you know that Abby had more than one reason to kill him, i'm not defending her, i wanted her to die too and i was angry when Ellie let her escape, but then i understood why she decided this. You may hate or love the story, but you can't deny that the rest of the game (Gameplay, Graphics, Level design, etc) are the top of the industry right now.… Expand

    It was brutal, the start was by far the darkest in a game i've played, and that was refreshing. You are all haters if you hated this game, get over your egotistical misogynistic attitudes. This game delivered.

    Phenomenal acting and storytelling. Beautiful and impactful visuals, sound and atmosphere. Incredible gameplay and fun factor. Only thing missing is multiplayer. Naughty Dog does it again.

    I will never believe in reviews of the gaming community! I don't mean their reviews are false or irrelevant, of course their are, but... Games are art pieces in the same way as movies, books, music, painting... They are meant to cause emotions, not necessarily good emotions.

    I was hesitating to play this game, because of comments about "stupid plot", which in most reviews, after further read, you can recognise an emotional opinion, which doesn't consider a "stupidity" of the plot, but rather a negative emotional impact of it. IT WAS MEANT TO BE THIS WAY. It was specifically wrote to make you feel this way. I completely understand that this game isn't for everybody, people often look for relaxing and positive experience, especially in video games. If you are one of this people, even if you'd loved the first game, by all means IT ISN'T A GAME FOR YOU. Still, considering this plot stupid, because it made you feel bad, is like criticising "The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas" to be "stupid", because its a sad movie.

    Besides "stupid plot", there are opinions about "leftist propaganda"... So what if Ellie isn't heterosexual? Not everyone is! And it was hinted in the first game, so don't act surprised! So what if Abby isn't the most feminine character in the history of pop culture? She is a damn soldier! Consider this character to be male. Do you expect, that 50 kg man to be a Rambo in a post-apocalyptic, zombie infested world? Of course she have to be buffed. You may aks "So why she isn't a man in the first place?". It's a valid question! In my opinion, Abby was created as female to be much more close to Ellie, as a character.

    To end my rant and start an actual review (spoilers ahead).

    I won't comment the actual game play, because as I see, the general consensus is that it's overall very good. I think the same and the main point of this game is its plot. For a long time I thought that game have to try to be "cinematic" and to be "just like movies". This game, and the first one actually, changed my mind. Now MOVIES have to try to be like video games. First game was about searching for humanity in god-forsaken world, this one is about losing it and considering "who is actually human?". At this point everything may be considered a SPOILER!!!

    *YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED*

    I have read some reviews, that criticise changing the narration from point of Elly to Abby. I think its main quality of this game! Abby perspective shows, that nobody is sinless, everybody deserves a punishment. Abby and Elly both lost father, even if he isn't a biological one in Elly's case. Both had lost friends, both can't live being aware that the second one is still breathing, and its a main point of this game. Where is this thin line which separates humans from monsters? When can we consider the other side to be hurt enough? Should we even consider it in the first place?

    Don't understand me wrong, after Joel's death I wanted to see Abby's guts on the screen, I could not consider this game to be good without having seeing her die in most gruesome way possible. I often consider the "revenge stories" to be crap if protagonist doesn't kill the antagonist, and just letting him/her live. This story is different and that why it had moved my! Showing Abby's perspective made me hesitant. Is Elly a good guy in this story? Joel clearly deserved what he got, at least from Abby's point of view. Maybe Elly was a monster not Abby? That's thing that everyone should consider separately, because this question does not have a good answer.

    *FINAL NOTE (without spoilers)*

    Just give this game a chance, buy it used/discounted, let it move you. Games shouldn't make the same mistake as many movies, have a good guy be good, and a bad guy be bad. Games should be risky and show as something new from time to time. If you don't like it... ITS FINE, write your opinion, just I've did! It wasn't my intention to criticise ones that didn't like this game. I just want game designers to experiment with their creations. Please don't bash them for this! You may don't like the effect of their work, but at least, as a community, we have to praise them for showing something different, something new, something new...    … Expand

    So it seems to me even though I’ve only installed this epic game and not even started that we have a world of haters for this game. The first game is astonishing and awesome and I haven’t finished it yet but the reviews really do suggest you guys don’t know a good game when it’s before you. You gamers simply cannot be satisfied. Too many haters. Won’t read anymore zero reviews.

Some are mad that they killed Joel. Let me ask you, what did you expect? He had enemies and if you ask me, he deserved to die. What he did in the end of TLOU 1 was selfish. I understand why he did it, killed all the medics and saved Ellies life, but for what cost? Save one life, because you cannot handle your emotions and let millions to suffer. That is a scumbag move. Beggining of TLOU 2 felt like a High school drama game and again, what did you expect? We are playing as a 18 years old girl, who is in love, no freaking sh*t that they did it. And what does it matter who she kisses boy or a girl.
    I'm not done yet with this game and I don't know if I like this game. But for now gameplay 9/10, atmosphere 10/10 and story is 9/10, lvl disain 10/10, sound/audio 10/10. Details for this game 10/10. Holy flying crap, those details are amazing, how glass shatters, snow physics, if you headshot someone or shotgun the leg out of window :) and so on. Details ARE amazing. Graphics 10/10, feels like playing with ps5

    Why do I rate this game right know? Because of bombing...
    I hate then games or movie/TV series try to write some SJW or some forced gay sh*t into the story. Key word is forced.
    Example is Netflix Witcher. If it's not forced SJW then I don't know.
    But for know TLOU2 does not feel forced and all is going smoothly, reccomend to play. Have been playing for 9 hours and already shocking.

The tempo gets a little messed up at the late stages of the game, but overall the information is given to the audience at the right time and in the right way. The soundtrack is efficient in everything it tries; the graphics are outstanding despite some bugs with the dynamic lighting; the gameplay is polished yet not innovative enough.
