The storyline is horrible. They kill Joel in the beggining throwing away all the character development and his realitionship with Ellie from the first game. And then, they force you to play HALF the game with his killer Abby which is not even an interesting character at all. At this point i really just stopped playing and whatched the ending on youtube, and was shocked how bad it is. Every character in this game is so dry, that you cant care about them. Even ellie became a piece of wood. I dont understand how can you make it so bad from such a masterpiece. Honestly i wouldnt play it even if i get for free. Its a total waste of money, and disrespect for all the fans of the original game. 0/10, dont buy it.… Expand

    I waited so long for this game. I played the first game 3 times as an achievement hunter to get 100% completion. I finally completed this game and all I can say is dissapointment. From the dialogue to the garbage plot and story. This game is not worth the $60. I could care less about the LGBT narrative.     0 story -100 for destroying one of the greatest games of all time with no regard to the loyal fanbase it had for almost a decade. I have atleast 12 hours of gameplay. Took me two days to be emotionally strong enough to play and    2/10 Rating for the fast paced zombie hunts. Plenty of games on the market with better zombie hunts.

Im soo UTTERLY DISAPPOINTED. waited before i write this review to finish the game with hopes that it could redeam itself with such a memorable ending. But everything in this game was a disappointment from SPOILER ALERT you know who's death and the stupid LGBT bs that they kept shoving in my face.
    I dont mind that BUT I wouldve wished they wouldnt have done it the way they did. It seemed they tried to replace JOEL WITH THIS RELATION WITH THAT STUPID GIRL (which i never gave a **** about in the first place).
    There was the time they made a teaser and showing Joel and ellie and EVERYONE WAS HAPPPY TO SEE THEM but then you decide to kill him in like 2 hours ? such a meaningless death by a meaningless charactor well played ruining his legacy in our hearts. I DONT MIND JOEL DIEING but maybe make it more heroic like ellie gets captured in order to BAIT JOEL. Joel goes in to save here and be a bad ass just one more time and during the rescue he gets shot and bleeds out till death SOMETHING LIKE THAT WOULD'VE BEEN SO COOL... JOEL DIEING TO SAVE HER, The idea of saving Ellie one last time would've been mind blowingly amazing. I thought of this in 2 minutes and you couldn't have made it any better in 7 **** YEARS.     Visually, the game looks amazing. The gameplay is relatively similar to the first game. However, due to the story that does not make sense and is filled with tons of plot-holes, it makes this game one of the worst sequel to a video game. If you are a fan of this game for its characters, trust me dont buy it. You will regret it for sure 100%.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The story chose revenge. The character destroyed & demolished everything + everyone around her, lives, hope, love, friendships and heart before eventually coming to the end of the tunnel.

    Upon meeting the story's climatic finale it decides to do a flip and say "Nahh, it's ok you've enough murdered everyone but the person the story lays out before you, take a break now. You've murdered everyone else and the whole the reason why you're doing all of this is still destroying you on the inside but let's just let the reason behind my suffering go because its the right thing to do" Roll credits (but wait let's add more) Let's put in some scenes that create more sadness to make sure our audience knows how big of an impact this had on our protagonist before we roll the credits. Let's really make sure we land how much it hurts and we regret what happened but you know what, never put in closure. Zero, none, its not needed. (apparently) So now weve killed the main character of the series off, we've destroyed the spirit of the protagonist, gave her some nice things to cheer her up throughout, then demolish all of those lovely things around her to,o, before finally giving her the much needed, rewarding redemption to make it all worth while... Wait, Nope forget everything we've just done, let's change our entire story arc and path and let the stories entire motivation fizzle, we'll let her go free because that's a nice thing to do. Roll credits. The game felt like it ended several times, rushed, the game felt like it rushed an ending several times. There was so many directions you could have taken it. The message, if any, was buried repeatedly in your story Neill. It's as if you had a vision but changed your mind several times throughout without every going back to fix what you've already completed. "we'll just leave that in - then make it worse" If you want a good direction tip, have Joel live at the end. Put him in a coma, make him brain dead, jesus take both of his legs, 1 eye and some fingers but have him smiling in his bed after Ellie chooses redemption. It could've been as simple as Tommy kept it a secret all along, the grave was empty etc etc. This was not enjoyable. It had no reason behind it all, the only achievement behind this story was the tainting of the original stories plot + ending before finally making you hate whatever comes next, every step of the sequel. Любовные треугольники, скрытые беременности, ревность и прочий мусор. Мне в эти момены вспоминались слова Элли из первой части, когда она читала дневник девочки в доме. Теперь акцент истории строится на том, что элли считала глупостью в 14 лет? Почему она в 14 ведёт себя более взрослой, чем в 18? Накуриться и потрахаться во время обхода в логове их мёртвого друга? Пожалуйста! Играть и петь посреди локации с заражёнными? Почему бы, блять, и нет? Видимо, дополнение Left behind ничему Элли не научило. Это просто посмешище

    Я даже не знаю, что хуже, если игра сделана чтобы угодить Аните Саркесян и ЛГБТ сообществу или они действительно довольны получившимся результатом и думают, что это хотя бы на одном уровне с первой частью?

    The storytelling in this game was sloppily done- this is besides the fact that it has gay characters. The DLC that first revealed Ellie was lesbian was well received, so claims bad reviews are just from bigots don’t make sense to me.

    Primarily, Joel and Ellie were too internally inconsistent. Many of the characters didn’t feel real. They were given traits that didn’t fit together. Abby is a leader that seems way too reckless (based on her first scene) to have survived this long, no less gotten to a leadership position. Exhibit A, it makes no sense that she would let Ellie go after seeing how much she cared about Joel. They just gave Abby a buff 3D model, and failed to actually write a compelling personality. You shouldn't need giant biceps to show a strong woman. I argue that by not portraying a female character authentically, you do a disservice to that area of the fanbase. As a racial minority, I see deliberate casting of someone just to pander to me as insulting and manipulative. If that person has a botched together garbage backstory, I cant relate to them no matter what.

    Strange character choices feel like a betrayal- like Naughty Dog is spitting in our face, telling us that we didn’t really know who Joel and Ellie were. Joel was not the type of person to give up his name easily, or go down without a fight. The strange underground weed base no-one knew about was cliche and didn't fit that characters setup. Forcing players to kill a dog like they did is ****ed up, and a surefire way to get me to dissociate from the game.

    Players don't play these games for the mechanics, they play for the emotions they feel. Critics rate based on mechanics, AI, etc., but thats not why people played the original game.    … Expand

    The last of us part 2 for me begins and ends with the flashbacks. Unfortunately the story is awful. It introduces 2 new characters with the worst possible way. It rejects the previous protagonists Ellie end Joel and as it seems if there will be a part 3 it will continue with the new ones. Just awful.

They took the characters that so many of us have grown to love and care about, and sadistically SLAUGHTERED them for no reason other than shock value. I am not angry about the fact that Joel died, I am angry that it wasn't done correctly. Nothing about his death seemed right. In fact, the entire plotline as a whole was GARBAGE.     Both characters made poor choices at great costs. Now, each will need to deal with the ramifications for those choices.

    Story was poor is deciphering the characters. Graphics are great. Gameplay is great. The choice of having Abby as a secondary main character, not good at all. Abby was a beast with an unquenchable lust for violence. It's tough to see the humanity and flow of the story in this game.

Ellie’s whole revenge plot into forgiveness left me stupefied. Then the game trying to get me to empathize with Abby after golfing Joel to death wasn’t working. I got through it all hoping I’d get sweet vengeance but all I got was Ellie losing everything everybody and a few fingers. Just made me want to go replay Last of Us and forget this existed. Then you choose a writer who has no idea how to write a game and then you get TloU2. This game is a disgrace. This is not Canon and not existing for me. Get your political agenda out of the gaming industry.

Ellie forgives the person responsible for killing her father right after killing hundreds in a murder spree. It's almost like they acknowledge that the people we killed are just NPCs and Abby is the only real human we can kill. No one cares if it's dudes **** each other. It's your **** story where the dude that survived 20 years by being careful, goes in a **** room with armed people like a dummy. The gameplay is the same mediocre shooting with occasional melee where you press 2 buttons, except they took out the enviromental puzzles whoop. The worst part about this game is that it has the Star Wars defense: "You didn't like it because there was a female protagonist" or "You hate the gays". Mediocre story that ****s on the original paired with boring old gameplay equal a bad game 10/10 IGN.… Expand

    The original Last of us was Legendary because of the story. This game has good graphics and a similar gameplay as Uncharted 4 so it should be a good game, but the Story ruined the whole experience.
    I loved all ND products so far so I gave a chance, but now I would make a refund if it would possible just to show how deeply disagree with the story.
    Wise character gone dumb as braindead runners.
