The achievement made by The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR is one by way of both hardware and design to capitalise upon this. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR’s level of immersion is simply fantastic, and while Bethesda Softworks could well have gone the route of DOOM VFR and created a shorter spin-off experience, developing a brand new The Elder Scrolls instalment specifically for VR would have taken many years and far too much in the way of resources for what is still a nascent audience. As it stands some may find the price point of the videogame a bitter pill to swallow, but for those who dreamed of a truly immersive role-playing experience, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR is simply the best opportunity available today.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR is a MUST HAVE if you own a PlayStation VR. As much of a fan as I am of everything VR, I can safely say that this is what I have been waiting for. The only other game that even comes close to this form of immersion is Farpoint, but Skyrim blows that away! I wanted an experience where I felt I was living and interacting in a complete virtual world and Skyrim VR accomplishes this magnificently. Despite it’s very minor issues, I can highly recommend getting this even if you’ve never played an Elder Scrolls game before. Even if you’ve mastered the previous versions, you owe it to yourself to give this version a try. This is one I will be definitely playing for a long time.

Resident Evil 7 and Skyrim prove that PlayStation VR is a viable platform and that full-sized games belong on it. If you can look past the bugs (and let’s face it: if you’re a Skyrim fan, you can), then this feels like the definitive way to experience Skyrim.

Without doubt, one of the best games for PlayStation VR. The best reason to return to Skyrim, the only edition of the game that we enjoy as much as the original. The graphics and controls make it difficult at the beginning, but believe us, it's worthwhile.

It’s still hard to comprehend that Skyrim, a game from 2011 not originally designed for virtual reality, is now PlayStation VR’s killer app. Marrying these two ideas seemed like an impossible feat, but Bethesda pulled it off. Skyrim VR is anything but a simple port to virtual reality. It is lovingly crafted with care and attention to make one of the biggest and most memorable VR experiences since the platform first launched. Skyrim VR isn’t just a must-experience for PSVR owners; it’s a reason to buy the headset.

By far the largest PSVR title to date and packed with enough content to keep players coming back for months, experiencing Skyrim as an actual inhabitant of the world is an experience like no other and truly makes you feel like an epic adventurer, at least until you take a coffee table to the knee.

Bethesda has managed to bring Skyrim to VR successfully. It takes a while to get use to this type of game in VR, but once it clicks, you'll find an amazing way to rediscover a great and very special game.

The first role-playing game that makes justice to its name by immersing you soul and body in a fantasy world that has never felt so real, though there are still so many technical steps ahead to go.

Even with this one shortcoming, Skyrim VR is a triumph. While I’m nowhere near completing the campaign, I haven’t found a single quest, threat, or objective that’s more difficult to deal with in VR than it was in the old Skyrim. It was already a wonderfully deep world to inhabit before players could freely explore it from within, and the developers have proven that a fully-featured action RPG can work just as well (or frequently better) in VR than it ever did on a flat screen.

Skyrim VR is an experience that for some players may not go beyond mere curiosity. With a Dualshock 4 it is comfortable, but traditional. With PlayStation Move, it’s immersive, but uncomfortable. A port that doesn't find its midpoint, because it wasn't originally intended for virtual reality, but that may be attractive to the most enthusiastic of VR.

Skyrim VR is one of the best VR games that are in the market nowadays. Even though this game has gone through almost every console and also PC, this is a great way to surprise the player and create better immersion.

It doesn’t look as crisp or detailed as last years’ Special Edition on PS4. But with the newly added immersion, especially if you invest the time to get into the Move controls, this is one of the best VR experiences out there - it definitely is the content richest. Skyrim hasn’t been as intense and interesting since its premiere six years ego.

It's not perfect but there's no other PS VR game with this level of depth and detail. Even if you think you've seen it all before, you've definitely never see it like this. [Jan 2018, p.96]

Skyrim VR is the big scale role-playing game that was missing for PlayStation VR. It comes with some technical flaws in both graphics and gameplay, but it surely is the most immersive way to explore the epic world of The Elder Scrolls V.

If you can look past Skyrim VR's visual downgrade on the PlayStation VR, then there’s absolutely no reason not to dip back into the well. It's not perfect, as you can definitely see the limitations of the PSVR compared to the higher end VIVE and Oculus, but Skyrim's award-winning gameplay and storytelling, which is brought in completely intact, survives the transition completely unscathed. It's also a really great VR game to show off to people and let them explore a well-realized fantasy world. Skyrim VR also represents a good first step towards future VR ports of open world Bethesda games.

Skyrim VR is the best game available on PSVR right now. The ridiculous amount of content, gameplay, and options combined with flexible movement controls make up for the aged graphics and bugs. This is a must-play for anyone who owns PSVR.

Besides the immersion you get by playing this game in VR mode, there isn’t any real reason to visit the North of Tamriel again. But for those who haven’t experienced Skyrim before and are owners of a PSVR headset, this is probably the best edition to choose.

Skyrim VR takes you to Tamriel as never before, even though the learning curve is an obstacle that not everyone may overcome. Several control options make it easy for every player to find the way to enjoy it, although as in every VR experience there will be people that doesn't feel comfortable. However, it is most likely the biggest VR game in the market, and taking into consideration that the game was originally launched back in 2011, we have to recognize the work made by Bethesda.

With hundreds of hours of content, this is the AAA title we’ve all been waiting for. While the controls can be occasionally clunky, Bethesda has delivered one of their best games, but in a whole new way. It won’t likely replace your modded-to-death PC version, but there’s something downright visceral about stepping into the boots of the Dragonborn in VR.

Skyrim VR is a true revolution in gaming, but it's one that doesn't hit all its goals perfectly. AAA VR gaming is finally here, and it's a real marvel to behold, but it's also doubtful that many players will play this game from start to finish.

Skyrim VR leverages reputation and novelty against repetition and cynicism. Retrofitting a six-year-old game inside of imperfect hardware would be imprudent if it weren't one of the most expansive, popular, and beloved products in its medium. Skyrim VR happens to fit this extremely unique set of qualifications.

Skyrim is the game we´ve been waiting for in PSVR. It´s long, epic and fully inmersive. Six year after its original release, we still love the story and setting, although this version is not as polished as Special Edition for PS4 PRO (in native 4K resolution) or Skyrim for Nintendo Switch.

The first Triple-A RPG on VR is far from flawless on the technical side, but it can be proudly attached to Resident Evil 7 to show your friends what wonders this technology is capable of, despite its young age.

Virtual reality breathes new life into an already excellent campaign. While you’ll have probably seen everything that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR has to offer before, you’ll have never seen it quite like this: vast, varied, and like an actual living, breathing place. Bethesda’s proven that blockbusters can make the transition to PlayStation VR – and on this evidence, it’s something we’d like to see happen more often.

For a game that wasn’t originally designed for VR at all and has been ported first to the least powerful of the big three VR platforms in the PSVR, Skyrim VR is nothing short of impressive. This really is the Skyrim that you know and love, but now you can enjoy it like never before with the immersive presence of a VR headset. With a large variety of control schemes to choose from and hundreds of hours of content, this is a game that all RPG fans should play as long as you can look past the sometimes glaring issues. And if you don’t own a PSVR yet, luckily there’s a new Skyrim VR bundle with your name on it.

Despite some minor execution problems, Skyrim VR is a good example of how a traditional game can be translated to VR. The sacrifices made to bring Tamriel to life on a virtual reality landscape are worth it if you consider the completely new perspective used to explore this magnificent RPG, which translates to a whole new immersive experience.

Skyrim VR challenges the notion that games not made for VR can't be effectively ported. It isn't perfect by any means, but the game brings a level of world depth and vastness of content that's unmatched anywhere else in VR to date, bringing a certain type of immersion that other VR titles lack. Heavy reliance on menus and sub-par visual fidelity hurt immersion and in-the-moment gameplay, but the game is propped up by the shear quantity of details, things to do, places to discover, and ways to play. If you can put up with Skyrim VR's port-y feeling, you've got a huge world to explore and a ton to do. In some ways, Skyrim VR offers strong hope for the future of VR—when a game of this scale is eventually built for the ground up for VR, it's going to knock your socks off.

VR really lets you experience Skyrim on a whole different level of immersion. Even despite PS VR’s low resolution it’s really easy to forget about the real world. The problem for me was that although I’m usually resistant to VR-induced nausea, after ca. 40-60 minutes with Skyrim VR I was starting to feel sick. [01/2018, p.50]

The added perspective brings Skyrim’s immense scale to life, giving the 6-year-old game a renewed vigour. As incredible as it is, it’s just not the sort of game that really benefits from VR. Skyrim’s made to be played for long sessions, but most people can only tolerate VR for shorter bursts.

While it's not the best VR game, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR is the most massive RPG on PSVR, and it's just as addictive as it's always been. Regardless of whether you play the main quests, chase down all of the side content, go hunting, go dungeoneering, be a smith and forge your own weapons, or go wherever you want to go, Skyrim works well enough, and that should be good enough for most players.

Because of its diminished graphics and clumsy combat controls, Skyrim VR definitely isn’t the best way to actually play Skyrim. However, if you leave the difficulty on the default lowest setting and roam the world as a god who can slay enemies with the flick of the wrist, it’s a good way to experience Bethesda’s legendary RPG from a whole new perspective.

Once you get your VR legs, then maybe you can grok the terrible controls, but then you have to see how awful this game looks. Yes it is technically impressive that Skyrim is in VR, but it's not the best way to experience it.

Skyrim offers the most complete VR experience on PlayStation 4, but it comes at a cost. While RE7 might have been done better, it wasn’t for everyone. The nausea issues with Skyrim VR are going to be an issue due to the amount of time needed for grinding and exploration. Every piece of content that’s been released is included, but it’ll be hard for fans to shell out more money for a game they already own. Nobody should have to buy the same game three or four times to get enhancements. After playing through a game of this scale, is it worth doing again especially with the threat of sickness?

It is very difficult for me to recommend this version of the game. We all know that Skyrim is amazing, but many people have played it for hundreds of hours at this point and the massive price tag just doesn’t seem worth it to experience it in VR. I also can’t see anyone wanting to spend the kind of time that this game demands with a headset strapped to their face. The time I’ve spent using my PlayStation VR has mostly been with smaller games and experiences; ones that can be played for short bursts. Skyrim is not one of those games, demanding long and intense play sessions. As such, I feel that this would have been better served as a low cost add-on, with the ability to transfer saves to the standard version of the game.

I would love to see more experiments like Skyrim VR and Resident Evil 7 in virtual reality, where fully featured games get ported to this still-young medium. This port is rough, but I’m still hopeful that there is a game out there that works both ways. For now, if you want to revisit Skyrim, your best bet is to boot up one of the editions you already own or grab it on Switch.

Its skyrim, in VR. I expected to be standing, running around with a shield and sword.
But like always I fell back to sneaking and archery. Only in VR archery is super fun. Its crisp, suprisingly accurate and just feels the best.

Only played on a pro, and yes, graphics are rough at a distance, but scale, and crispness close to you feels just as good as almost any other game. Quite a feat concidering the vastness of the world and all the stuff going on. didnt see a single hitch that indicates an FPS drop.

What I didnt like, was no option for smooth turning with the PSmoves. When you have your weapons sheathed, the move controllers appear in-game, and this is very immersion breaking. The whole selling point of VR is immersion. Minor annoyance.
Also I wish there was some way to view my character in 3rd person, inventory screen or something, But I do understand that its not as easy as implementing a 3rd person camera mode, as this would also break immersion.

Overall a really solid VR game, and not at all the "lazy port" i was dreading.

do not buy this if you are used to play the pc version or ps4 version. This is blurry and really bad looking. i think the 3d effect is bad anddo not buy this if you are used to play the pc version or ps4 version. This is blurry and really bad looking. i think the 3d effect is bad and i dont feel that it is real. and when i am holding a weapon it feels cheap. and the controls are horrible. the only thing that is good is that it runs smooth. i dont want to continue playing in VR, the game is soo much better non VR. And when you are attacking with motion controllers you are just poking the enemies. maybe the first enemy you are swinging the sword like a real swing, but you are not going to want to keep doing that much longer. and often when you are waving your sword at the enemy, sometimes the move controllers appears and the weapons are gone for a sec, and then they comes back. No! i dont recommend skyrim VR at all. if you dont have played skyrim at all. please dont play this before you have played the real thing. this is just a fun experiment for those who love skyrim and wants to look inside VR.
