It’s fun enough that I am going to play through Skyrim again. However there are a number of things that I feel could really have improved the VR experience.

Pros: 1. It runs really well and looks good enough on PS4 pro 2. Aiming spells and arrows is very fun. 3. Melee combat feels exciting, a much needed upgrade, I was not a fan of melee combat in original Skyrim at all. 4.

    4. Inventory and menus are actually really easy to use with move controllers, aside from the perks screen which is cumbersome.
    5. Has all the expansions... I had only played base Skyrim before so this also made it more worthwhile to drop $60

    Cons
    1. Needs Continuous turning instead of turning by degrees. You will be spamming the turn buttons ALOT. Click click click click...
    2. Should be able to look down and see yourself or at least your hands when weapons aren’t equipped. When magic is equipped you at least see your fists, how come if I have melee weapons equipped I have to see a mock up of the move controllers instead of my hands?? Kills the immersion.
    3. Melee combat is really a bit on the wonky side. There are often times when I am in melee range of the enemy who is hitting me, but for some reason I am too far away to hit them back? And visually it looks like my weapon is hitting but it isn’t.
    4. Movement scheme is decent but has issues... the point to move with the left controller feels the best for moving but if you are doing that you can’t also aim spells with left handZ. You can get around this with shield or bow. The addition of an”backpedal” button would have helped this tremendously.
    5. Stereo sound seems to be nonexistent or super weak. Playing counter strike like 20 years ago I could close my eyes and hear exactly where enemies are. How come in 2017 playing a VR game they didnt implement positional sound?

Same old rehash, but a pretty amazing VR experience. The controls are wonky if using the PS Move, but after a while you get used to it. Though Skyrim is not really designed for the move or VR for that matter, and it can really take away from the overall experience. The move in general is pretty much a gimmick in my opinion, and would have been better off left out of this 57 millionthSame old rehash, but a pretty amazing VR experience. That aside it really is fun to see things as if you are really there in the game. Expand

This was a really difficult game to score. Being thrust into a vast virtual open world is a pretty amazing experience, for a little while. However, I think this game is a good demonstration that VR will never replace conventional gaming.

For a long time I've felt that immersion was not really what made video games fun, and this confirms it. That's not to say that immersion isn't fun -

For a long time I've felt that immersion was not really what made video games fun, and this confirms it. That's not to say that immersion isn't fun - it definitely is cool to look around and feel the sensation of being dwarfed by huge mountains and massive dragons. I just think that the sacrifice of poor controllability isn't worth it, at least with the current hardware. I mostly played with the move controllers on "smooth movement", which works fairly well but eventually becomes tedious. I found the DS4 controls to be terrible because the character moves in the directions that you are looking when you turn your head, which feels really unnatural and frustrating. I'm willing to bet that a very small group of players will actually attempt to beat this game, but I'd happily be proven wrong.

Overall, I did have a fun time playing this, but after about 6 hours I put the headset away and returned to normal Skyrim, which I feel is the better way to experience this old masterpiece.

While it's not the best VR game, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR is the most massive RPG on PSVR, and it's just as addictive as it's always been. Regardless of whether you play the main quests, chase down all of the side content, go hunting, go dungeoneering, be a smith and forge your own weapons, or go wherever you want to go, Skyrim works well enough, and that should be good enough for most players.

VR really lets you experience Skyrim on a whole different level of immersion. Even despite PS VR’s low resolution it’s really easy to forget about the real world. The problem for me was that although I’m usually resistant to VR-induced nausea, after ca. 40-60 minutes with Skyrim VR I was starting to feel sick. [01/2018, p.50]

It's not perfect but there's no other PS VR game with this level of depth and detail. Even if you think you've seen it all before, you've definitely never see it like this. [Jan 2018, p.96]
