The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited

A great game that manages to merge some of the best aspects of TES and MMOs results in a remarkable title on new gen consoles. Great progression, tons of options, fun combat, an insane amount of content and a very promising PVP are some of its virtues. The servers work and the graphics are excellent.

Even simple quests cause a chain reaction of new incidents and it's possible to see how the player affects Tamriel. But if you expect something like Skyrim with coop-mode you still have to wait for another game.

This time Zenimax did the right thing. The Tamriel Unlimited is a great improvement over Elder Scrolls Online, with Champion System, Justice System and solid end game content.

A couple of lines of dialogue can often be all you’re given before being plunged into whatever mundane task is expected of you; rare are the significant characters and even rarer are the ones you care about. It just doesn’t maintain the same depth of exploration or profundity that the series is known for, leading to a much quicker-paced Elder Scrolls experience.

The console transition feels right, complete with tight controls, and a host of experiences to be had in Tamriel. If you are fan of MMOs, and must get your fix on consoles, this is as good as it gets.

It doesn't have the flair or the polish of a heavyweight like Final Fantasy XIV Online: A Realm Reborn, but it's certainly worth trying if you're looking for seemingly never ending adventures on PS4 – with or without friends.

The console version of the game has two disadvantages for a hardened PC gamer: not enough room to bind abilities on a controller and a lack of typed communication. Fortunately, the game has amazing quests and three stories you'll all want to check, regardless of platform.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited makes its console debut in quite a functionally good fashion. The additional content, improved stability and expansive adventure makes for a great game.

The Elder Scrolls Online is a remarkable MMORPG that keeps the essence of the original series. The game could have been more original in the design of its missions, but its PvP mode and the high quality of its contents are very good.

Unsurprisingly, Tamriel Unlimited runs as well on consoles as its predecessors, and its tried-and-true combat is a clean fit for the MMO format.

The game is worth its asking price for its sheer volume of content alone, and while not all of it is gold, you'll find as much bang-for-buck value here as in any other multiplayer online adventure on console, subscription-based or otherwise.

The controller is a far superior input, the interface is much cleaner and more accessible, the voice chat is ideal for grouping, the subscription is now free, and it brings the MMO genre to the console platform that has few competitors at present.

The Elder Scrolls Online is a fantastic game which offers hundreds of hours of gameplay. The world looks impressive, but when playing alone, other players spoil a lot for you. Despite the hiccups the game has, this is a must have in your collection.

This is now a quite solid free to play which deserves all the attention it didn't last year, but it still is not The Elder Scrolls as we know it.

It's a good Elder Scrolls game, just not an especially great one. The atmosphere and huge amount of quests keep the game interesting, but the individual player's experience is held back by the MMO frame, while the graphics are severely disappointing. Fans shouldn't hesitate, though.

If you’re looking for Skyrim Online, you won’t quite find that depth here, but the sheer magnitude of The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited makes up for it, and there’s nothing quite like running into your friends while questing across Tamriel.

With its "monstrous" content, great controls and the creation of a megaserver for the whole of Europe, it's certain you'll spend many hours with this one. But beware of the annoying issues its design has between the single and multiplayer experience.

The Elder Scrolls Online has received a number of fixes, but other shortcomings still persist.

Tamriel Unlimited is a good porting, but the game on console suffers from the same conceptual problems of the PC version. Try it if you are a fan of The Elder Scrolls saga only.

Caught somewhere between a reverence for its forebears and an unwillingness to forgo MMO traditions, The Elder Scrolls Online is a hybrid game that's exciting and off-putting in equal measure.

Even by carrying the immersive experience of any The Elder Scrolls game, it fails to deliver a strong, solid MMORPG experience. It lacks in many aspects that are quite common in the genre, making the experience incomplete and focused in what every game in the franchise does well.

An average game for MMO fans, although it has quite a few issues that need to be fixed. The biggest problem is that it tries to lure fans of other genres without showing them the basics. With that in mind, along with Tamriel Unlimited's average visuals, buying this game is something that has to be carefully considered.

The casual nature of The Elder Scrolls Online helped Bethesda in this console version that shows the pros and the cons of the PC version.

The console porting is good from a technical standpoint, but the game remains the same: a "classical" MMORPG that arrived a bit too late to the party.

This is a nice RPG and a bad MMO. The game is playable without subscriptions and it offers a lot of content to explore. Playing together with other gamers still is not really working properly. It is too bad this game does not impress, even though the development system for characters and the PvP are fun.

If you stripped away the sluggish combat and hollow questing, you’d be left with the most gorgeous fantasy hiking simulator this side of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

The Elder Scrolls Online features entertaining quests, dynamic combat, and a whole lot of other people. Sadly, those other people largely feel like an unnecessary addition to the game.
