I now have an issue where i am in Daggerfall and a real world player started a fight with a guard and the guard then attacked me and it placed a bounty on my head as it thought i was the criminal, this was early into the game. it just all feels so chaotic. No structure or enjoyment so far what so ever.

Tonnes of bugs, crashes, freezes, lock ups, loading screens, missing items, missing quest targets. This is the best Zenimax can do 2 years after release. Seriously all the top ratings are fan boys without any critical merit.

Collecting ingredients is tedious when you constantly have to do slow grabbing/mining/chopping animations on the large quantities of insects, plants, rocks, runestones, trees, and other harvestable things in the game world. Having the base Elder Scrolls option of just clicking a single button to collect something would help a lot. Guard AI is very bad, and the problem is exacerbated by their aggression and invincibility. In the first little bit of play after exiting Bleakrock Isle, which was my starting zone, enemies were in the middle of the friendly camp and attacking people. I was playing as a templar focused on crowd control and healing, and shot my movement speed reducing attack at one of the caster enemies. A guard ran in between us during the casting animation and I instantly got 37 bounty and was killed on sight. Attack cycling feels the same as every other MMO out there with not much unique, and the hitboxes are completely out of proportion so that if the enemy swings at you you're probably going to get hit even if you're 10 feet away and they're swinging a dagger. Bethesda is involved with it but it hardly feels like it is, comes across as an uninspired junky WoW clone. I wouldn't play this thing for a large quantity of time for free, much less for 10 dollars, or the normal non-discounted 30. Did I mention the leveling up process is so choked that I hit level 6 halfway through the beginning zone and then spent another hour of running around completing quests to get halfway to the next level. Not only do I not consider this one fun, but I don't even see it becoming enjoyable without major overhauls. A huge fail that really tarnishes a fun world. Expand

Questing is as generic as it gets with MMOs; voice acting is frustrating since you can probably read a lot faster than they are speaking. After the first few mundane hours of listening to a crappy script read-through, I found myself skipping all the voice acting and having no idea what I'm fetching and for whom - which comprises around 99% of the quests. Combat - generic plus a manual aim crosshair which was /shrug worthy, PvP - maps too big and really unsatisfying. Graphics - nice, but too much glow effects makes it feel like a cartoon and not anything like the bleak/darkness typically seen in the Elder Scrolls Saga.

TLDR - Game was a little late to the MMO party and brings nothing new. Plenty of completely free to play games on PC which have been around for years do a better job. If you like MMOs, play one you already have. If you like Elder Scrolls, sorry, you're **** outta luck

You know how at the Redbox they'll have a famous movie like (for example) Saving Private Ryan, then they'll also have a Russian knock-off called Rescuing Sergeant Johnson or something? This is the Russian knock-off to a game like World of Warcraft. The exact same gameplay, but in the Elder Scrolls environment. Character classes and skills make zero difference because the game scales the difficulty based on what level you are anyway. It is suspiciously impossible to find enemies that are a much lower or higher level than you. You will never find that one great piece of equipment because it might throw you outside of the difficulty band Bethesda carefully manufactured for you. The game is a horribly disappointing walk through missions and locations forced to be the exact right difficulty. You simply pound your different attack buttons to kill the enemies fed to you and pick up the gear they drop which is either your level or one level above you, but is never magical or unique. The flash and sparkle of crafting, other characters, big cities, the auction house and other MMORPG staples will hold you over, but after about ten hours the curtain is lifted and you realize the game is not challenging; it never lets you fail, but it also never gives you any moments of glory. Items are uninteresting. Missions are uninteresting. Let's just try again on the Elder Scrolls 6, shall we?

ESO is filled with players running cheat engine and other 3rd party apps that allow one to cheat, Resource pool, attack power, speed, regen, ect all remains on the client side and are able to be manipulated. Most of the cheaters hide in trials/grp dungeons were they are less likely to be spotted there are many cheaters in each of the pvp campaigns.

After spending more than 8 months on this game and aprox 180$. I can say I gave this game a fair chance so my review counts for something. So here we go...

When you first log on, you appreciate and marvel at the density of this game. The big towns and the architecture and lore lead you to believe this game is going to be epic. It looks really good on the outside. In addition, you realise you aren't leveling up your character without purpose: you will eventually go PvP so it makes feel like a huge world.

    The problem?

It's kind of boring... no actually it's really boring. After 10-20 hours of constant questing and repeat fetch quests, kill quests... you start to get a sense that this is really just a chore. The novelty of the world and the MMORPG aspect start to dwindle as you realise there is no real social community. It's just a single player mmorpg where you grind out quests...repeatedly...over and over again.

Then you get to PvP and think... well it's a realm versus realm game. It should be epic and have nostalgia factor of being part of a big universe. Then.... you realise it's just a HUGE map but it looks very bland and boring. You just end up doing another version of.... run for 4-5 minutes to get to a fight... die. Repeat until you realise how boring it really is. There's nothing about the world pvp that is engaging or fascinating. I remember the old days when I played Dark Age of Camelot. Pvp was never boring, it was extremely exciting and nerve wrecking. You felt you were part of a real community.. a living world. But in ESO, it's just a plain map with keeps and you drudge through the terrain to get to another one and join the zerg. There's nothing there... after the novelty wears off. It's boring as hell... Another aspect that ruins this game is the PvP mechanics are heavily based on getting stunned repeatedly. It's quite annoying and you get stunned virtually every 2-3 seconds in a fight. Finally, it seems EVERYONE wants to be a Nightblade. They are incredibly overpowered. They will virtually vanish constantly as soon as they die and come back to full health. It would be ok if they died faster but no they are just as tanky as you lol.

In summary, I spent alot of money and time playing this game but as I reached level 40, I realised I was bored to death. The Dialogue from the quests are just that...dialogue. There's nothing there.

You want an MMORPG, go play something on PC where people actually use the chat bar and where the world feels like a living and breathing universe.... But on console MMORPGs are bland and boring, lonely experience.

    Good

The games musical score and controls.I have played a lot of mmos in the past and i do prefer those that keep buttons for skills to a minimum, nothing i detest more than a screen full of hotbars/skills.That's one area where i think TESO beats out ffARR,despite ffARR being semi-friendly to a game control pad.

    The Bad:

Quests are uninspiring and quickly become a slog,ffARR does it much better.

Although TES games have always had a drab colour palette,it's still sad to see it here, after playing ffARR TESO pales in comparison. The average graphics of the game aren't particularly nice to look at either.

Game performance is horrendous,i've witnessed so many tears and fps drops,it really breaks the flow of the game. The weather effects are also poor.

Although i like the combat controls, combat itself(although i'm still kinda early into the game)is also boring, not only that but it's very hit and miss...i have a stellar internet connection so i can only assume the hitboxes are off at times or there is a problem with netcode.

I've been in 2 dungeons so far and those are passable in their layouts and graphics, too early to tell if they offer any variation or become more exciting.

I wish i could comment on the crafting aspect but i haven't delved into that at all.
I do know there is no auction system and i sincerely hope zenimax revisits that in future.

Character models are very disjointed,no flow to other characters movements.

All the minions/pets cluttering up the city just makes the game look worse imo.

I can't comment on grouping and other player interation either, but if it is anything like i've heard from the pc version that is another big failing.

As for the pricing, sorry but zenimax are ripping the arse out of it.Crowns are overpriced, their sub is overpriced and the imperial edition is overpriced comsidering you already have to pay for the full game. That sub should be half the price before i'd consider paying for it and i'm not taking into account how poor i think this game is.

I couldn't give this game anymore than a 4 from what i've played,i suggest if you're looking to get into a console mmo,buy ffARR,it does nearly everything so much better.

    All in all,mediocre.

Dungeons scale to appeal to end-game PvE players, balance changes that regularly wreck concept builds to appeal to PvP players, and world bosses that used to be soloable that now require a large group. If you're a very competitive sort, you'll love it. It's just too toxic of an environment for casuals. It's moving ever more and more toward appealing to the people who play WoW and League of Legends.

Crafting used to be a level above all drops, so it was easy to craft great armour. Crafting stats have been nerfed, and crafted gear is the same level as what drops now (and inferior in every way). This is something they promised they wouldn't do, but hey, it's just too easy to get good gear and the high-end PvE players don't like that. They added duelling, which meant that roleplayers are now getting trolled all the time by people checking roleplaying site schedules and having duels there. Unlike Champions Online, it doesn't even have no-duel zones. You can duel anywhere.

The only thing that ESO still has going for it is slightly above sub par writing.

ESO has gone in a Bold New Direction, the management at Zenimax Online Studios now wants that sweet, sweet WoW money. And we all know how well that worked out for Champions Online, Wildstar, Warhammer Online, et al, right?

So don't bother with ESO and ignore the promises made about it. It used to be a casual game, not any more.

Once you hit the cap of lvl 50, you'll be asked to do everything you just did, twice over, in the two other faction zones. That's hundreds of hours of questing, and that's the FASTEST way to get to Veteran Rank 14.

Expect a fun albeit somewhat generic adventure to level 50, followed by 300 hours of pointless grinding before you can do any endgame content. Enjoy getting dominated in PVP and turned down for group content in PVE by people who DID do the 300+ hour content grind.

As for other classes , everyone basically specs for dps. You hardly find a decent tank , nobody can hold aggro , people claiming to be healers .. aren't. If you get into a Pug to do an instance you can pretty much expect the equivalent of a bunch of pre-preschoolers at playtime. And it basically isn't the people's fault. it's the way the game is designed. "Jack of all trades , master at none" gets everyone killed.

The game is unpolished, and has all the appearance of an independent "free to play" game rather than one in development for years by a professional audio. The graphics are atrocious, they really are. They look like a throwback to a "good" ps2 game - the textures are bland, details lacking, and the world plain and lacking any sort of detail. Every building is the same bare walls with a few creates and barrels. The animation is jumpy, jerky and again, not what you expect from a modern game. If I were playing this on a table tablet - then I would expect these graphics - not on the most current gen systems.

That said, the game itself is not unplayable. There are plenty of quests, and hours of play. There is a challenge and some reward to be found in taking down the harder bosses. Just expect a mobile - gaming type experience, not a current gen game.

If you, like me, are a make Elder Scrolls fan, you'll but this anyway, and they are counting on that. Once all of us have done so - give it a year or so, and this will more than likely move into the free-to-play realm that it deserves.

If you can hold out, replay Skyrim for that time instead. You'll have more fun, and save yourself £40. You aren't missing anything.

I have recently finished playing The Witcher and it's like I've dumped the PS4 and replaced it with a PS0.5, it's that bad.

Or am I missing the option to turn up the quality from "dire" to "decent"?

Yes I hear you need to wait a while to get into it but if that's your selling point your going to lose a lot of gamer's. I gave it well over 10 hours and it is live less. I love the crafting actually, if you're a cruncher, its cool to go and farm stuff that makes your next bow, (crunching, if i decon this then i get 2 of those to make x etc)

Questing is a chore, it is done better on other titles, sometimes distraction re:gw2 can work

Without any viable text input, you just seem to be this insane wanderer, hoping for an invite for what you might be standing next to at that moment, the game needs more interaction, this, psn names, combat and the guilds themselves are woefully sub-par.

I click on most of the 10's and they have no history, other than to rate every version of the game at max, so here i am at a 1, although it is a credible 7 in my view. I just wish Zenimax had put as much effort into placating their pc audience, as they did with their multitude of penny pinching versions on console.

But after one week, I'm fed up with it. Dull world (looks nice though), repetitive quests and I'm just not getting into this. This proves I'm just not made for MMO games. But this is not the Elder Scrolls game I love to play. Just have to wait for number 6.

Between clunky controls, a surprising lack of features, and the gutting of everything that made Elder Scrolls interesting I don't see how anyone can give this game a mark above 5.

Rather than variety, everything in the game is cookie cutter and boring. No more intuitive combat system with criticals, no more stealth viability, and goodbye to ranged in general. How do you take a game where ranged meant ranged, and make it so bows and spells only reach a couple feet further than a spear swing? Oh right- you make it a cookie cutter WoW clone.

The trading system is obtuse on PC, but in ps4 with zero chat support it's downright atrocious. How do you make a game where trading relies on more personal interactions, and not have any form of chat box. At least on PC you could reliably trade. Oh, but they're adding a chat box- for a companion app. Why!? Keep in game features IN GAME, what is this Destiny?

The store is one of the worst parts. Items have menus and sub menus, sometimes, but it's unreliable, and the confirm buy button is the same as the 'try on' wardrobe feature, making it painfully easy to lose real money due to lag or double pressing- problems the game is now famous for. No store should be this bad- if you buy something in an mmo like SWTOR on their shop, it goes to a store 'mailbox' where you can choose to refund it immediately, completely eradicating the possibility of errors.

It gets worse though- if you do make an error due to their poorly made store- they REFUSE TO REFUND YOU. You can put in a ticket detailing the mistake and they will not refund the crowns spent- it's not even you asking for your money back, but the currency you buy with money. That's downright shady, and perhaps the worst customer service I have ever seen in a AAA title.

The game is buggy, you start to suffer more and more loading time issues the higher level you get- not unlike Skyrim, but in this case there's really no excuse.

The combat itself is clunky and simple, making it grow very, very boring very, very quickly. I'll give some credit to a more in depth crafting system.

If you want a very poorly made WoW clone with atrocious customer support and none of the features that make MMOs more convenient and tolerable- this game's for you. If you were hoping for Skyrim online, this game is absolutely nothing like it. At least the PC version has the option for mods, and the social experience is there.

Graphically- look at the glass armour for my opinion on this. It's not even remotely green, did Zenimax even look at the source material? It might be an ok game if they hadn't focused on making everything look as bland and ugly as possible. This is the ps4, I don't care if it's an mmo it shouldn't look this bad. The worst part is the animations- I haven't seem anything this stiff since WAR, and that game fell apart in a year.

I feel pretty generous giving this game a 1/10. It's playable, though not enjoyable, it might get a 2 or 3 but I always take away marks when customer service is this bad and their poorly designed game literally costs people money that they don't even entertain refunding. May there be better parts later on? Perhaps, but after I reach double digit hours on a game, if there's not a single thing worth praising I'm not going to keep going in the hopes of finding it.

Didn't play it long enough to max out the limited inventory size in the base game ( like F076 ). I was not impressed by the performance. It wasn't as bad as FO76 for frame rate and latency, but the frame rate was poor by today's gaming standards. After playing the Division 1/2 online and how smoothly those run well I know who knows how to optimize online games better, Ubi-soft.

Visually this would of looked like a nice PS3/360 game, but for a PS4 game it looks kind of dated and ugly, The graphics and lighting looked so last gen for sure.

Played TES ARPG Oblivion, Morrowind and Skyrim in that order, I'd take Oblivion hell even old Morrowind over playing another minute of TESO. The game play did not pull me in all and I didn't get that open world TES vibe. The areas I played in was just smaller zones with loading screens.

Then I looked at TES plus option and the in game currency BS and I was like oh wow. I could get a Xboxlive game pass or EA play and have access to hundreds of games for the price of this one games subscriptions model and in game currency options. Which will obviously be needed to cut down the mmo style grind fest.

I still play Skyrim on console and PC. I have four versions of that game. Fallout 3/4 and NV I replay a lot on console and PC. Bethesda online models for TES/Fallout are really restrictive unless you cough up beyond the base games. I picked up a preowned copy for 25% of the current PSN store price so I don't even feel burnt. Summing up TESO is just meh.

A couple of lines of dialogue can often be all you’re given before being plunged into whatever mundane task is expected of you; rare are the significant characters and even rarer are the ones you care about. It just doesn’t maintain the same depth of exploration or profundity that the series is known for, leading to a much quicker-paced Elder Scrolls experience.

This is a nice RPG and a bad MMO. The game is playable without subscriptions and it offers a lot of content to explore. Playing together with other gamers still is not really working properly. It is too bad this game does not impress, even though the development system for characters and the PvP are fun.
