    After playing the beta and now the full release, I can safely say that The Crew, while far from a perfect game, is definitely worth a play if you are any kind of fan of the NFS Underground series or Forza Horizon series. Why? Because this game is essentially the best of both of those games in one package.

    While I'd love to see a true sequel to NFS Underground 2, I fear that something of    After playing the beta and now the full release, I can safely say that The Crew, while far from a perfect game, is definitely worth a play if you are any kind of fan of the NFS Underground series or Forza Horizon series. Why? Because this game is essentially the best of both of those games in one package.

    While I'd love to see a true sequel to NFS Underground 2, I fear that something of that caliber will never come to light. Instead, we have The Crew. This isn't a bad thing, per se, as The Crew definitely pulls ideas from the street racing games of yesteryear, but you can see just from the sheer scope of the design of The Crew where things could have been tightened. This is just my opinion, however, as like I said before, I wish there were a true NFS: UG sequel.

    First of all, the customization is amazing. Think UG 2 x100. From paint jobs, to livery, to body kits, to neon, to wheels, to even the interior of the car. Almost everything can be tweaked or changed to your liking. The big question I get asked is "do all of these mods affect stats"? Well, yes and no. Rigging your 350z with big knob tires and rally gear will get you better handling off-road, but smaller nuances like changing the sideskirts will not net you additional downforce points. This is definitely an "arcade" style racing game and therefor you should not expect the level of tuning detail you would find in say Forza 5. Much like Horizon, the game is about the open road and in this case multiplayer. It is called "The Crew" after all, and the name wouldn't tailor much to the genre if it didn't have something to do with being a part of something bigger.

    Multiplayer is seamless and is surprisingly stable at launch. Running missions or races with friends is as easy as the click of a button. I haven't experienced any detrimental lag thus far, either. I do recommend playing this game with friends, however. It makes the experience much more enjoyable than romping around with strangers. Although playing with randies does have its moments.

    Now there is a story here, and much like Horizon it sort of takes a back seat. It basically just gives you a backdrop and a reason to be in this world. It is pretty run of the mill fast and furious-y, but it does its job. But if you buy racing games for the story then you're probably in it for the wrong reasons. The main pull of The Crew is its MMO-like appeal with a LARGE and I mean LARGE open world. Let's put it this way, it took me a solid half an hour to drive from Detroit to Seattle in real-time. That's big. And yes, those are real cities you can race in and around and to-and-from. And man does it feel good.

    The sense of speed is spot on in this game. And that, for me, is a huge factor in how well I enjoy a racing game. If I'm going 100mph I want it too look and feel like I'm going that fast. The graphics, while impressive at times, do suffer from a slightly low-fi look at times. I imagine this is because of the sheer size of the world. Your car will always be in the spotlight and will always look the best, however. So don't worry about that. I can forgive slightly muddy textures in the environment as long as my car and all of my customization looks good.

    All in all, if you enjoy racing games and the appeal of a wide-open country world with friends to road-trip and race with, I would highly recommend The Crew. Especially if you're a fan of the NFS UG or Forza Horizon series.    … Expand

    Game excells in evey area. Don't understand the bashing this game is copping. Largest and most dense map of any open world deiving game since Fuel. My only complaint is that it is always online and it should be playable offline. It's not really an MMO, it's more a massive open world driving game with online elements.     Really good game. Giant map, full of stuff to do and the RPG stuff is really exiting. You can really feel the changes on the handling when you level up!

    We were promised an open world with tons to explore and that's the game we were delivered. It has everything you want in a racing game: Immersive open world, day and night system, weather effects, customization, car variety, multiplayer free roam, single-player campaign and PvP game modes. All in all it's a brilliant racing game that offers well over 500 hours of gameplay!

    Before I start I want to clear something up, this game is not bad but it is not the best open world racing game ever. i think it is a pretty good one. but it dose have a couple of big problems that some people can not seem to overlook. if you can overlook these problems it is actually a really fun game.

    Ok bad news first. You have to be online and signed into psn to play this. This basicly means that you will need to pay the psn annual fee to play this game, even if you had no plans of playing an on-line session, you still have to be online to even get past the title screen!. This is a major turn off for a lot of people. Imagation my furstation when my wifi dropped off in the first mission of the game and I was kicked back to the title screen and I had to reset my routor and restart the whole game. Also the game and your system needs to be fully updated and if psn goes down you can't play your game. Unforuntaly this can not be changed so we will just have to see how this goes. Also I found in the early part o fthe game,right after you pick your first car and you are free to go whereever you want that you can not intract with all online players and that with the ones you can you have very limited opations. I expect that I would have to get further in the game before I can race other player online, but if everyone is forced to go online from the start why are there holding back some of the functions?

    The next bad thing about the game is some of the graphics and story elements. Ok off the bat the story sucks, and you know it is going to suck when the game gives you the opation to skip cut scences the first time around. The story is a throw away plot that makes no sense really and the missions are so basic there are silly. I don't think you would buy this game for it's story though, I got it for the cars and experincing the open world. Now the grpahics are basiclly hit and miss some places are good and other bits of the world ie part of cites look like ps2, boring lifeless spaces.Also the other AI cars on the road do not act realist at all, for example I was driving at my maxium speed on a staright part of a city and the ai pick up truck was driving faster then me! Ai cars sometimes crash into each other and just sit there, nobody gets out and I bet those cars would just disappear when I drive a certian distance away. Also I found that trains can drive staright thought concreate blocks put there to stop you from driving in certain parts but if this is a ture open world I want to drive everywhere.

    THe last bad point that people have brough up is that in the game you can buy all the best cars and level yourself up to the max level for something like £50. first why would anyone do that after you just spent the same amount on the game and secondly you can get all that stuff if you just pay though the game. ok that is the bad stuff now for the good stuff.

    The best thing about the game is the open world, aprt from some of the blad graphices I talked about, THe opne world is bloody massive! For example I was drive for about an hour yeserday away from detroit just following roads and when I looked at the world map I had handly driven anywhere. The map cover most of the USA. I belive that a few states are missing but for the most part it is all there incudling all the important land marks. Plus you will probaly find some you didn;t know about. For exmaple I was driving around somewhere near the detroit cost line and I found a theme park!

    The cars in the game look real and I like the customiation that is possible that is a good selection and the races I tried where fun if not a bit too easy. It is fun driing around and the little mini games on the road are good.

    I like the rpg elements but I am worried that when I max out I am going to be bored again and I am also worried that the dev team behind this game will not support it for ever as the review so far have not been good.

    In sumamry I would like a crew 2 game sooner reather then later and the one feature that I would like to see is OFFLINE single player. The crew 2 is a good game just be prepared to work with it's floors    … Expand

    An underrated gem of a game that you can get for under 30 bucks. It's got a map of the entire United States that you can traverse with various vehicles. It looks and feels like a real road trip only you don't have to get off your ass.

    I think this game is underrated a little bit.
    + massive, open world (I really like doing tours around the map)
    + many challenges on the road + customisation - some races are too easy I am really in two minds when it comes to the driving mechanics - on one side, it's simple for casual players that don't play racing games very often, but on the other side, it may be too simple.     I'm kinda late (just a little :D), but I wanted to give out my thoughts on the game.

    The story is pretty cliche, but it doesn't mean that it's bad (or it may be just me because I like revenge stories). The selection of cars is really nice, but it misses some top JDM cars, for ex. 180/200/240sx, R32 GT-R, 350z (but it has a 370z as a replacment), Silvia, etc. The classes are interesting    I'm kinda late (just a little :D), but I wanted to give out my thoughts on the game.

You can even buy a Porsche (or as it is on The Crew - RUF) and make it an Off-Road beast. The map is probably the best thing about the game - it's a not much scaled down map of the whole damn USA. The off-road driving is so fun! The graphics were kinda outdated, but after the Wildrun update, they became pretty nice (atleast for me). Even now I enjoy just driving around in off-road cars with my friends.    … Expand

Still can't say anything about social features as I'm not very into it.

    I'm not sure why all the bad reviews. Personally I think this is a great racing game and by far the best one available for the system. The Crew plays great without any problems, lag or connectivity issues. The graphics aren't great but they are good, the game is massive and tons of fun to play.     Takes a bit of time to get into it but definitely worth it. Delivers a really different racing feeling, playing multi is so much fun and the US playground is globally stunning (even though a bit unequal in graphics). In the end, probably perfectible on some aspects but excellent game experience

I am a huge fan of driving/racing games ranging from PGR, MSR, Dirt, Grid, Forza, Gran Turismo (the list goes on) and I have never had more fun than I am having now in The Crew. The selling point is racing with friends, your crew, engaging in multiplayer races, exploring, going off road, driving on the freeway and taking any damn exit you want. Sure there are a lot of negative reviews, because all of the people enjoying the game are too busy to take time away to write a review. There is so much to do in this game I have no idea how anyone can complain about a lack of content. I'm not thrilled by the microtransactions, but that seems to be the norm.… Expand

The physics are normal for arcade racing and I don't understand people who are saying that it's awful. Compare it to the physics of NFS MW 2012, for example. This is REALLY awful physics. Moreover, here is a huge amount of customization options, which reminds me the times of NFS Underground 2. Of course, there is some cons, too. For example, you can't start your career once again, from the beginning, and it's really annoying. Maybe the Ivory Tower will release a patch with such opportunity in the future (I hope so). The storyline is weak, but it's not so important in racing game. Don't get me wrong, The Crew isn't perfect, as I said before. But on the other hand it's a huge step forward in comparison with other racing arcades. Give it a chance, don't bury it alive, or for the next decade we will be "enjoying" crap like NFS Rivals.… Expand

    To start things off, it feels like another racing game but with smoother gameplay and a really well done multiplayer. The funnest part of the game is encountering random players online as you drive across the country (Which is freaking HUGE!!! Like GTA 5 on Steroids x4). Plus the campaign is better than your average campaign these days with a    Wait for the Price Drop, still a Great Game.
    To start things off, it feels like another racing game but with smoother gameplay and a really well done multiplayer. The funnest part of the game is encountering random players online as you drive across the country (Which is freaking HUGE!!! Like GTA 5 on Steroids x4). Plus the campaign is better than your average campaign these days with a variety of missions and a decent plot/story that's complimented interesting characters.     I myself am not a huge fan of racing games. But the crew really interested me at the E3 reveal. The game is amazing, especially when playing with friends.The map is huge, driving from coast to coast is really fun. But it does have its downsides, the server problems are frustrating, for example, me and my crew did a hour long event, just to get disconnected at the end.     With my limited racing experience with playing Papyrus Nascar racing back in 2003 and MarioKart of course, I'm enjoying this game. Those skill challenges can get to be addicting if you want that shiny gold badge=car upgrades or downgrades depending if you already have better car equipment when you come across it. I'll admit, the first hour or two felt like the plot of The Fast and the Furious, but once you get into it it changes completely. Ubisoft has been ambitious with their games this year and I applaud them for courage to take risks.     First of all the game does look good, unlike some people is commenting at YT or other forums, technically this game is just incredible. The level of detail in every US location is just outstanding. And im not talking about little things, the entire map has almost totally different structures, buildings, houses, shops, cemetery, statues, actually everything you can find in a real city. But that does not stops there, the level of detail goes to another level when you are in a speedway and you just want to go to the left o right to reach some field, you go further and you realize there is stuff even locations or structures with life on it, incredible detailed does not matter what part of the map you are discovering, there is stuff there and not repeated stuff, all that with pretty amazing texture quality , which is actually impressive for such open world size.

    There is people everywhere as well, a lot of cars, believe me there is a lot of cars everywhere, that makes every location with a lot of life on it.

    Ambience is another plus here, the sky changes dramatically depending the ToD ( Time of the Day ) and sometimes you see amazing skies. Night looks wonderful with the lights and lightning, day looks just wonderful.

    The gameplay is fixed from the beta, driving has been tuned and now it feels amazing, when you level up driving feels even more amazing. Customization is perfect, you can customize your car to the max. If you are a NFS undeground fan , you can do that and more. Co-op gameplay is fun. Thats it, fun and a lot. Does not matter who you play with. The story in the game is actually pretty good, it makes you play it more and more since its actually a good one.

    For me this game deserves a 9/10. And i give it a 9 just because car renders are not as good as the rest. Excellent game.    … Expand

    This is the best Co-op racing game that has ever been released and it all takes place in an MMO world. Seriously fun if you have friends to play with however solo it's pretty mediocre.     I expected a game not as realistic or hardcore as a real sim. slightly more arcadey than forza and that is exactly what I got. (to clarify, forza is one of the more relaxed racing sims I know handling wise)

    I have played the crew with a xbox360 controller, a Thrustmaster Run'n'Drive and a Logitech Momo force feedback racing wheel. the handling feels pretty good on hardcore. as with any game I had to mess with the settings a bit to get it nice feeling, but that is to be expected. Grip and lines are pretty controllable and when you get a feel for it it's pretty easy to recover from a hairy situation.

    this game, like any good racing game, requires solid and precise input to be fast. especially with force feedback on dirt or off-road, the car can be quite a handfull. the differences in suspension between the classes are also very noticeable. with force feedback turned up all the way off-road is pretty doable in raid or even dirt, but with harder suspension the wheel will fight you for control on bumps and jumps. on the other hand, a raid spec will often understeer and lift one or two wheels when driving hard on road.

    The big open world is really awesome. you can drive to a huge amount of places and a cross country or round trip takes a LONG time. In gta 5 i was pretty dissapointed about the lack of tight driving roads on that map. Luckily Ivory Tower did not make the same mistake. the game is filled to the brim with not only highways and country roads, but also big mountain passes. Be it dirt, snow, or blacktop, it´s all there.

    It´s true the landscape isn´t the prettiest close up, but the quality of the roads and sheer size of the map easily make up for that. the different landscapes like field, forest, desert, mountain, hill, swamp etc. all feel like a world in themselves and seeing the landscape fluently change around you as you drive cross country is really cool. It all looks pristine until you get really close (and slow), so that´s usually a non-issue.

    the first few days there were some connectivity issues but they have significantly lessened after they did a few server patches. I hope they will keep this up and keep their promise of rapid and frequent updates / patches.

    The Crew is a very good game with the potential to become the greatest racer of this time. It finds a middle ground between arcade and hardcore handling (with assists it's very easy to stay on the road, on hardcore you have to be precise, and sport is somewhere in between.)
    We will have to see in a month of 3-6 if Ubisoft and Ivory Tower can live up to their online promise, but even if you would leave out pvp this game is worth it.    … Expand

    Im having so much FUN with this game. My Fifa15 & COD Advanced Warfare are collecting dust. There is so much to do in this game. On Steam this game is 9 out of 10 such a low score on this site. I'm LOVING IT.

    I have been waiting for a game like this to come along since TDU 2 came out! A great soundtrack, awesome scenery and with such great variety! Then the driving and such a range of challenges are available for you to try. This will be keeping me busy all through Christmas.

    This is the best heir of Test Drive Unlimited. The map is huge, the handling is arcade and fun.
    Really Great game!

    Gameplay is fantastic, i find it worth my money so far. Only thing that bugs me is that i have came across some glitches, for example sometimes if you are riding with a partner, you just become completely invisible for each other for some amount of time... other than that i am impressed.

The thriving open world with many different environments added to the story, faction missions, faction wars and skill challenges this game has lots to offer!     By far the best racing game to ever come out. This game is not a 10/10 but definitely a 10/10 racing game. Overall the game is probably 8.5-9/10. Hundreds of hours of game play and with more to in the future with free updates.

    Do yourself a huge favor and immediately go into the options and change handling to hardcore, set steering sensitivity to about 3/4, put steering speed factor all the way right, and steering dead zone all the way left. Makes the game lots better and why they set the defaults like they did is anyone's guess.

I felt like I owned my car in this. They've even animated the engine parts. The only concession is the world isnt as detailed as other racers but the size of the world is to blame.     + Good transition between game cinématics and gamplay (So you fell like you gived control of it after mission movies.)
    + Posibility to send your friend do faction missions for you. (so you can save time instead of doing a 2h mission for a bit more of easy game money)
    + 50 Cars for first release batch (Witch is not bad for a game that features quite detailed car interiors)
    + Offers car customisation such as pre-fab vynils/stickers, Rims, Spoilers and some chasis mods. ( Alot more visual customisation to offer compared to TDU2)

    ~ Servers are down for maintenance sometimes. (yes it can happen, its an online game)
    ~ Uplay Launcher (at least i can be used / merged whit steam tho)
    ~ Storymode is a bit short. (but is still entertaining to watch)
    ~ Missing Mirrors Animations for Cockpit view in some Cars. (they already working on it already for next patch )
    ~ Weather conditions changes only when you go the mountains where there is snow (they might could use a bit rain but its not that bad)
    ~ Can have unblanced AI (depending if you and your crew have to high level gap)

    - No offline mode (you need a internet connection to play this game)
    - No possibility to add your own Music (but you can customise your playlist atleast)
    - Microtransactions

    So as so far for the rest for the game and the gamplay itself, the pleasure of free roaming those cars with friends is pretty Neat, if your one of thos players who dislike this game, just go back to driveclub or what so ever other racing sim game you were playing, otherwise if your looking for car tunning, driving everywhere from road to montains, and like fast paced races for the fun of playing it, this game i what you are looking for !

    All together i would say, "The Crew" is a cool game to play for cruising around with Friends or even to play alone i would say, sure the game have some bugs and have a litle lack on MMO since its more concentrated on the NFS genre gamplay but is worth the price when we know they will comme up whit more !

    Great massive open world racing game. You enjoy every moment, drive with people and get them into your crew. Things available to do in this game never ends.

    Game has negative sides too. Not perfect graphics(but definitely good for an open world game). Handling is not great as default, but if you tweak it, you can make it good too.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I like The Crew for its very vast world. It is a good representation of the USA containing a lot of key spots.
    It is not a graphical masterpiece but we have some very nice light effects and reflects, and the cars are nice too, only the environment is low quality, but that's the sacrifice to do for a 5000 square km fully open-world map.
    The Spec system is a good idea which allows to vary race styles. The handling is special and arcade, the whole game isn't realistic when it comes to compare cars specifications, but it is not The Crew's point and at least you don't have to systematically pick the "best car" but your favorite one (from a certain Spec) with no big difference compared to the other (same Spec) cars. All of this applies if the cars are equally customized obviously.
    It has good online features (with bad servers unfortunately) and I love to cruise around with random online people I meet on the road. You really feel free in this game.
    Car customization is decent, the only bad thing is that you can't make your own vinyles (stickers) but have to choose among preseted ones.
    The bad aspects of this game are the following ones :
    - Damages on the cars are incoherent and very basic.
    - There are a lot of loading and connexion problems.
    - Despite its immensity, the map is very basic. For example, I haven't seen any 10 lanes highway in LA, what I mean is that all the highways are the same 4 or 6 laned roads, all the trees look the same, in other words every element always has the same skin, wherever you are.

    The handling has improved alot, from previous shaky and irritating turning, to a way more comfortable and natural experience. The map is literally huge, and I love to explore the map and drive longer distances.     Apart from that, there is a good selection of cars with plenty of customisation (unlike NFS 2015 - GOD what a let down) if you're not restricted to what class you can chose.

    This is a great game. The exploration is just super fun. I can drive from one side of the United States to he next or travel to places I have been using the map. The story is also fun to race in.

    I've just finished the campaign and can safely say at no point was i left feeling like i wanted the game to end, instead i wanted more (this rarely happens in AAA titles for me) . After countless hours of game time and repeating many of the actions to level up my cars and more I've purchased the DLC because i cannot get enough! The Crew is basically TDU 3, it's the very same game engine, many cars are the same, same driving mechanics, a new story and a new map. In regards to the story, TDU 1 and 2 were light years ahead to the Crew. The Crew is basically TDU 3, it's the very same game engine, many cars are the same, same driving mechanics, a new story and a new map. In regards to the story, TDU 1 and 2 were light years ahead to the Crew. The maps of TDU 1 (1:1 Hawai) and TDU 2 (1:1 Ibiza and 1:1 Hawai) both were great. Now in TDU 3 aka The Crew 1 one can drive a smaller incarnation of USA, unfortunately it's a lot smaller than the real country, so many things are missing, but the map is still big. Unfortunately also that The Crew still uses the TDU graphic engines which means a lot of straight roads and very wide roads and buildings cannot be very close to the road - an game engine limitation.So big cities like New York look weird, e.g. the Time Square looks very weird, etc. Some story missions to catch cars are to hard. Some races are too long. The in-game cutscenes look a weird sometimes, as one sees only cars and no one enters or exits cars. TDU 1+2 had way better cutscenes. With several updates and addons The Crew received good graphics and nice weather effects. Unfortunately The Crew is an always online game, it's just a bad business decisions, there is no technical reason for it - TDU 1+2 run fine in offline mode, and when you were online you could play online against others or just see them driving around. The Crew 2 which uses the same USA map again, hopefully improves the game engine to feature 2018 graphics and more interesting story missions and a better car physics and more fun things beside the main story and less grinding gameplay and no always-on-dongle.… Expand

    First off the map is unlike anything I've ever seen, better than any of the horizon maps. That's the main reason it's given such a favorable score from me. The bad side of this game is awful however. Many of the races and missions are just logic-less. You could have a 900 rated Ferrari but catch-up would still enable a Hummer to beat you. 60% of the races will require at least a 2nd try.First off the map is unlike anything I've ever seen, better than any of the horizon maps. There is one in particular where you had to take down a **** prison bus that was somehow always a step quicker than your best car, which just makes zero sense. Also the main character Alex is a cocky little **** and the other characters are silly **** But above all of the trash story missions, the free roam aspect of the game was very enjoyable. From the tip of Maine to Baja California it's about a 75 mile drive so the map is pretty large. It also features many landmarks and destinations that you can interact with and drive through. Two of my favorites are the Ski Jumps near Salt Lake City and the Plane Cemetery in Tuscon. The car type system is nice but only 2 of the 5 really matter at the end of the game. The 5 types of cars are Street, Dirt, Perf, Raid, and Circuit. Street, Perf, and Circuit are for On road use and Dirt and Raid are for offroad use. But as it turns out, Street is just a **** version of Perf, which is just a **** version of Circuit. And to that effect, Dirt is just a **** version of Raid. So the only 2 that really end up mattering are Raid and Circuit. It would be better if they made the lesser 3 more essential in one way or another but it doesn't bother me too much. But if your like me and like games with big interesting maps, The Crew is worth a shout… Expand

    8/10. This map is huge, and its graphics are pretty good for a 2014 game. There are many activities to do around the US and does have pretty good lighting. A few problems I do reconcile is that the story was kind of bland and too quick, and the objectives have somewhat little variety to it. But overall, if you want to explore America without the comfort of your seat, this is the game for you.

    Ubisoft's cars MMO made very good impression on me. The model of driving is really nice, based on a arcade game physics made the game really relaxing, even many hours after finishing the game I keep on grinding money to buy and check out other cars and the process never bored me, what's more i did the 100 laps on Little Eagle track achivment and it didn't really bored me. Graphics, mainlyUbisoft's cars MMO made very good impression on me. Many racing disciplines was really refreshing idea + it all was programmed to be in one game, back before there wasn't any game witch let player ride on terrain, road etc. with diffrent cars, accualy everyone behave diffrent on other surface. Of course I am writing about arcade type of car games, not simulations because we know there was such game like Dirt or WRC which are simulations. I really liked the aspect of Alex's skill tree (the guy we drives). I liked the story, reminded me of Fast & Furious Braga part.… Expand

Up to try any genre of games and sometimes I find something new that I didn't think I'd like. I own a PC (built by me), Xbox One X, Xbox Series X, PS3, PS4, PS5, and a Switch. I prefer Playstation due to their focus on narrative games. For scoring, I’ll be using the Gameinformer review scale and of course influenced by my personal opinions.

    Not a bad arcade racer. It is an impressive how they made a mini USA, just wish the smoothed out some of the turns since it feels a like a computer just auto made the roads. Felt like they weren’t touched by a developer. At first the graphics were pretty bad but after a few months after release they provided a free update that improved the visuals and added weather. Story is decent but nothing memorable.    … Expand

    The Crew can be enjoyable for some casual cross-country joy rides, especially if you have some friends to drive along. However, it comes up entirely short of most of its goals, and makes a wreck of car handling and competition for the sake of lackluster MMO mechanics.
