Entertaing no-frills co-operative arcade-shooter with decent visuals. It says a lot if the highest praise you can give it, is to say, that it doesn’t do anything wrong.

An awesome experience to live the action and adventures of the 30's with a lovely TV style and thousands of bullets all around... and of course, tons of humor for 4 players.

The first steps in this game aren't that special, but as soon as you get a hold of things and you can find a few friends to play with, the mummies from Strange Brigade really come to life.

Strange Brigade’s serviceable but flawed gameplay and forgettable story make for an incredibly generic third-person shooter, but its charming personality, great level design, and well integrated puzzles make for a B-movie romp that’s a lot more fun than you might initially expect, even if you plan to play alone.

There’s enough charm here to paper over some of the game’s fairly substantial cracks, and it’s easily one of the more unique and better cooperative shooters that owe Valve a fruit basket for Left 4 Dead.

Strange Brigade is one of those difficult games to review, the one where for every positive thing you have to say about it, there’s a downside related to or accompanying it in some way or another. But in the end, what we have here is still some classic shooter action best enjoyed with friends, with enough eye-catching style and various challenges to potentially keep players coming back for more. So much like the pulp stories it aims to emulate, one could say that it’s corny and flawed in several aspects, but still an enjoyable romp that can be worth checking out under the right circumstances.

It may occasionally feel like a relic, but like the members of the Strange Brigade have shown, sometimes that’s just what you’re looking for.

While far from revolutionary, Strange Brigade makes it hard to dismiss it as “just another horde shooter”. The pulpy adventure aesthetic and the focus on the use of traps are a definite draw, and while a more interesting, self-aware story would have been nice to see, it’s the satisfying shooting, well implemented online co-op, and interesting game mode variants that help stave off the tedious repetition that quickly end up haunting many horde shooters.

Strange Brigade stays close to Rebellion's third-person formula but doesn't add enough to it to be a truly great game. The pulpy, humor delivered with a wink and nudge saves the game from being a slog.

If Strange Brigade has the good idea to offer an original set and tone in the kind of cooperative shooter, it does so either too late or too bad, but in any case, it does not fully convince. Especially against the competition already in place.

A pleasingly straightforward co-op shooter, whose lack of complications will be seen as either a blessing or a curse depending on your requirements as a gamer.

Fleeting, forgettable fun at its most flamboyant, you’ll likely enjoy Strange Brigade for a jiffy before shortly moving on to bigger, better things.

I played this game solo, and after a few hours the well ran dry for me. Hoards and hoards and hoards and hoards of enemies just shambling after me became kinda dull, and the shooting felt janky and unpolished. I used the shotgun because aiming was annoyingly finicky.

Levelling wasn't super satisfying either, and don't get me started on the save points, - they're few and far between. In fact I put my controller down for the last time after an extremely extended boss area that had me fight literally five different waves of enemies with their own specific boss only to be killed at the eleventh hour and turfed all the way to the beginning of the challenge.

After dying I realised my mistake but I just couldn't bring myself to go through all those waves again... no. Nope. No way. Not a chance in hell baby.

Also health was a pain to find, now the game generally isn't crazy challenging but I was always very low on health. I read there was a gem you can find that gives a little health on every kill so that would've been pretty darn handy.

The game's definitely a budget title so I wouldn't spend $60 US on it, but if you wanna play co op with a bunch of friends and you get this game at a bargain price then yea, you should get a few good hours out of it.

Also I've yet to complete the game (for reasons that will become apparent).
As a fan of Rebellion games particularly the sniper elite series I was looking forward to this Strange Brigade, although a departure in style for the developer the premise to this game has Its got tons of potential.
I'll start with the negative: The game-play mechanics are not the best, aiming for example can be tricky especially as the enemies tend to duck and bob as they shamble towards you, even with the aim assist on it makes little difference. Although there is fun to be had here, setting up a trap to destroy a load of enemies the game soon gets repetitive, every so often you'll get locked in an arena type area to face off against wave after wave of enemies. There is little in the way of variety, and sadly there's no way of playing to your favoured style (no stealth option for example) its all guns and bombs blazing or nothing. One more particularly annoying aspect is he clunky controls especially the melee attack which often fails to connect. Finally the lack of health potions is extremely frustrating, I have spent most of this game playing on very low health with little chance of surviving the level, I feel the balance of this game is a bit off, at least in single player mode.

On the positive side: The graphics are ok, the game's narrator is excellent, funny and perfect for the
feel of the game. The puzzles can be fun and the game rewards you for exploration of every nook and cranny.
I accept this game was designed primarily to be played in co-op, and the single player mode wasn't as well thought out as it could have been, as a result this game can get too frustrating to fully enjoy, and sadly there are no difficulty settings to play with if you get a bit stuck.

Like I said this game as a lot of potential and maybe in co-op its more balanced , but sadly for me this game ultimately disappoints.

People who put bad critic because they thought itVery good game I was expecting something and finally it is better than what I was expecting. People who put bad critic because they thought it would be as good as a tripple A game thats not the thing to do...The combat is very good for what it is fire system deserve a solid 8. You got a lot of weapons you can upgrade plus you have the possibility to buy other special weapons during mission so people who say the game have lack of variety on weapons have not playing the same game i played. For skills you got 4 per character and theyre all different it is better than zombie army wich you had 0 SKILLS. Similar enemy ? Again wrong wrong wrong and WRONG im just at the beginning and already meet 5 different type of ennemy... The only problem of the game wich is not something that bad its the lack of a good story but like I said no big deal gameplay is the more important. So dont make the mistake of expecting something extraordinairy its a 50 dollard game and for the price it is very good. Sorry for my bad english its not my primary language Full Review »
