This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I knew it was too good to be true when i heard EA was giving us a full story based offline Starwars jedi game. This game starts great with exciting cutscenes and some thrilling platforming, problem is it all goes downhill from there. It really looks like the devs were not able to finish the game. Things like texture/lighting issues, no real character customization (different colour ponchos/Outfits), the seed collecting makes no sense and after my 5th ingame lootbox it is not exciting anymore either. The story feels rushed too, a good example are the bosses, the only boss with a bit of a back story that gets explored in the game is Trilla Sunduri, the others like the 9th sister and Taron Malicos get minimal introduction. The writers even try to make Taron somewhat mysterious but after 2 cutscenes we already get to kill him, we never get to explore him as a character, this would be fine if we had more of these bosses to fight in the game. by the time i get all my powers the game is finished, sure i can explore the nooks and crannies of all the planets to max out my skill tree, but for what? I cant fight a boss anymore, there are no DLC planned where i can use my power and i cannot duel against my friends. I already played it on the highest difficulty so there is no point in playing the game again.

It simply feels like EA wanted to shut us up by giving us what "we want", but with minimal effort/investment so they can say, "See guys, sales are not great so we were right in saying games dotn want story based offline games".

The things i do like are the combat system, the slow but steady skill tree progress, the feeling of movement and the sounds and music are amazing.

i was expecting to be let loose in the starwars universe, with shops, ships and cantinas but it feels more like a extended Demo than a triple A game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is definitely one of the best Star Wars games ever made, and maybe the best.

You got a lot of story in between episode 3 and 4 happening in this game - I mean a lot which also includes other Jedi's (Masters and Padwans) story from the day order 66 was executed. If you walk around to explore the planets there are a lot of echoes to be found.

The combat system is very good and you have four difficult modes to choose between, and you can at any point, except from in battles, switch to one of the other difficulties.

There are some surprises throughout the game - both story related and boss fight related, and not to say gameplay related.

    ONE SPOILER:

You'll get a double bladed lightsaber during the game's story - you may also get it earlier.

    A STORY / GAMEPLAY SPOILER:

You'll fight some known bosses including a known Sith!

You are barely a jedi knight, and it shows. Your chatacter Cal Kestis doesn't feel overpowered in anyway, although the game makes it satisfying to expand your abilities to a point where you feel powerfull, yet not overpowered.
With that said however, there are a few things that could have been better. Like the loot you'll find throughout the game in chests and what are known as "force echoes". You can craft and tinker with your own lightsaber, and these chests gives you various hilts, switches, and so on. Instead of purely cosmetic, I'd like them to have a more purpose to them. Like hilts that gives you faster swing speed, more initial damage, blocking costs less stamina or so on. Also I'd like to point out that the map feels uninspired and clunky. This is a nitpick from my part though. I finished the game on Jedi Master difficulty, and cleared the Platinum trophy on PS4. So when finding all secrets and chests, the map was of minimal use to me.
The story is is decent, and better than any of the newer movies (in my opinion). All the characters I grew to love and care about. The only point that I took away was for the loot feeling "useless". But still fun to grind because of combat and puzzles. This is of course all just my opinion. I would strongly recommend this game to any Star Wars fans and casuals alike :).

Jedi Fallen Order a new star wars single-player game published by EA made by respawn entertainment. Why do i say this? Well for me it seems this game almost got 1-2 points more on the review scale only because its a single player game published by EA without lootboxes or microtransactions. Dont get me wrong i hate loot boxes and the mt **** but this game is imho not as good as all the critics say. Now i got this out of the way we get to the acutal review.

A bit of plot summary for the first two hours of gameplay:
Jedi Fallen Order is a game about a young Jedi that hides from the Imperial Forces that seem to control the entire Galaxy all is good and well until he uses his force and suddenly his whole live seems to fall apart and his ass is hunted by a trillion of storm troopers and more until suddenly some rebels come along to rescue him and he joins their forces. Thats to plot summary for the first 1-2 hours of gameplay and the hook to go on an adventure to collect more power and eventually fight the leaders of the Imperial forces. Which is in my opinion no really good story nore is it very
exciting to go through the first hour with only jumping around and talking about nonsense with some side charakters that does nothing for the story and nothing to build an emmersive universe its just bland out boring (imo). Even in force unleashed i had a charakter that was evil from the beginning and changed throughout the story (it wasnt that good of a story either) but at least i had something different than the underdog jedi padawan **** for the 100th time.

    Gameplay:
You have some different comination of attacks and some different force attacks like force push and slowing enemys overall nothing really exciting or new which is kinda dissapoiting imo because this game could have done so much more than just using the old meachnics and doing nothing creative or new. It goes a bit for the style of a souls like genre so you can parry and dodge roll enemy attacks. If you die you have to attack the enemy that killed you to absorb some of your xp back again which is overall a neat idea and the souls like gameplay feels kinda good i want to say if the enemys werent programmed to follow your every movement which makes the doding feel kinda pointless to me. Some more wasted opportunitys are in the lack of physics while you can push around some enemys and grenades you cant use your enviroment good enough to kill some enemys with force etc. Again in force unleashed it was so much better hell even vases only crumble one by one if you force push a bunch of them while in tfu you push everything in front of you and it breaks crumbles into pieces which was very satisfying to watch. Also this game goes for a kind of a Metroid Style which imo sucks very hard. So you have this wall in the game and you see its there for being broken but you just cant because you haven learned force push so you have to complete two more planets to backtrack through the whole planet again to find a different style for your clothing how pointless. i dont understand why this is in the game maybe so stretch the time you can play this game but it just doesnt work for me when you have play through 50% of the game twice.

    Bugs:
This game is sadly sometimes kinda flawed as it could have used some more polishing. Sometimes when you fall of a cliff (when you fall you loose some hp and spawn back up the plattform again which is good so you dont insta die) you spawn right in the middle of the enemys you were fighting so you have no chance for recovery time this will result in an immediate death. Enemys that touch water will immediatley die. Enemys hit you in mid roll almost everytime. Physical bugs that had me flying through the air severeal meters.

    Overall:
What can i say i really want to like this game but in so many places this game feels lackluster and unpolished maybe with a little more time and effort it could have been a good game but in this case its just a solid 50 imho. Its a single player game from EA with no loot boxes thats a nice start but its not enough to make this game a good game

As someone with limited time to play games, the shame of Fallen Order stems from multiple frustrations. It’s hard to fight and, worse, it’s hard to move. The game’s timing issues distracted me from both the story and the beautifully constructed worlds; I was too focused on simply staying alive. My many (many, many, many) deaths discouraged me from exploring worlds — all of them beautiful — as did the simple fact that traveling by foot (even a Jedi’s Force-enhanced feet) takes forever.
