The game is pretty good and star wars fans will have a fun time with it. It does not deserve all the 0's ppl are giving it at all. The combat is fun and there are a good number of game modes both singleplayer and multiplayer to mess around in. The graphics are really amazing, especially on Endor.

There are only two cons that I really have with the game. The first is of course the DLC

There are only two cons that I really have with the game. The first is of course the DLC policy of EA. The second is the real lack of customization within the game. There are a decent amount of weapons and star cards but there could always be more. It would be really nice to have some modable weapons like a different scope or slightly better damage for less accuracy type of thing.

The real problem with the customization is with the player appearance. It would have been nice to be able to unlock say, a scout troopers helmet and stick it on a snow trooper's armor. Really, I would have been really happy with the ability to put markings and paint on the stormtrooper's armor and to switch up what your rebel is wearing a little. All you can do is change the face of the person which is a real shame.

In the end this really is a good game. It is balanced and bug free which is rare to say of many AAA games coming out these days. The graphics are amazing, even on a console, and the gameplay is solid. Its getting low scores mostly because of the DLC (which is somewhat justified) and butthurt ppl who just wanted a clone of battlefront 2.

With that objectivity he gets a 0 to this game?
It is simply ridiculous and not objective, it does not have the conditions for campaign and the issue of dlc (all this can be dicutible from the point of view that you look) mode.
But for God this is epic battlefront, frenetic, visually delightful, technically a beast with 60 frame to the solid and consistent in ps4 stick, with 0 lag! But

But it seems clear that many have forgotten how they had launched battlefield and campaign mode maps and more input and which served? if all you have this battlefront makes the multiplayer a unique experience and not have to walk denying to lag drop lows not to mention bugs, and now we must continue to complain because there's always something to do, even though we have a very well careful with the recreation of Endor as the queen of the house,
Oh, and woe to those who thought this would be a skin of BF4, is undoubtedly disappoint laments different and is 100% star wars sound gets you into the movie and not a game.
I enjoy this game does not speak of prices if they are expensive, everyone does what most pleases with its money, this is my jovi practically the only thing I invest for my hours of fun, maybe others would like throwing money in the casino, well I like to "throw here"

Battlefront is a near perfect game, except for 2 major flaws.

    1. There are not enough maps or offline modes. I mean, why the hell can't we do a droid capture or a cargo run with AI and a friend on the couch? They're small maps with no more than 12 players. For a $70 game, you do expect to get a little more environmental diversity... especially when there is no campaign. 2. Players die

    2. Players die too easily. There is much to be said for a quick-paced shooter, but Battlefront honestly pushes the limit to a point where it can be a real bummer to play sometimes. As my girlfriend says "I shoot them 4 times, then they shoot me once and I die!". Sure, foot shots aren't the most powerful, but something needs to be done to allow casual games to get more out of multiplayer.

Other than those two things, the game is beautiful, well thought-out and fun. Fun is really what it's all about and I think too many jaded reviewers didn't actually play much more than 10 hours before they said "It loses it's charm after 10 hours." I'm nearing hour 20 and I can't wait to play when I get home. The trick to making the most out of Battlefront is to accept that you will die sometimes (or most of the time).

This is not the most in depth shooter out there but it is just straight up fun. Fighter squadron mode is exactly what i've been waiting for and its a blast. If you are a fan of chaotic shooters and want to have a great time then you will love this game.

I think the game is getting criticized too harshly, definitely doesn't deserve the 0 or 1 scores.

I never got to play any different mode that Team dead-mach and dead mach models, but In Battlefront the turning tide or pod drops are just great, really fitting my run and gun style while also adding some more stuff in the mix. It has been a while since a good star wars game has come out and I feel that DICE did it right! I feel that all of the negativity surrounding this game is completely unnecessary and actually hurts games more than anything. I feel that this game captures the feeling of the movies and lets you really recreate your own battles. I think that alone makes this game a 10/10. It saddens me that other games can get a 9 out of 10, but this only gets a 7 or 8 out of a 10. I realize that reviews at the end of the day are only one story though and to really tell if your going to like the game is to just play it yourself. That is why I tested the beta and I absolutely loved it. I also believe that DICE really worked very hard on this game and I understand to make games like this today requires a lot of time and hard work. I am thankful that there is people out there that are willing to make great games and I appreciate all of you. I believe that is people should form a review based on Constructive criticism. This is the process of offering valid and well-reasoned opinions about the work of others, usually involving both positive and negative comments, in a friendly manner rather than an oppositional one. The purpose of constructive criticism is to improve the outcome. So I think it is sad when I see all the negativity and hate from people. This world already has hate, war, crime, drugs, and the last thing we need is that in the gaming community. Why can't people just be positive? It is so much better. Anyways thanks again DICE! :D Expand

This is a solid 8/10 buy that i think every gamer or star wars fan should have in their library. Overall while feeling original it settles in to what you should expect from Dice. The game is not comparable to the earlier battlefronts as many are doing. This is a reboot in a new decade with new players and new engines. The only large thing the game suffers from is a lack of content. NOT A HUGE LACK but a lack. There should be more maps for the larger, more enjoyable game modes like walker assault, and more original and fitting customization for the imperials. Overall i think this will end up as DLC making this game a 8 instead of a 9. But we do have the free Jakku DLC to look forward to very soon. It seems to become this battle between fanboys and haters but I think underlying it there is this general feeling that gamers expectations are not being meet and we are not finding satisfaction in what we are delivered, or a significant portion of us anyway. So to make the point those who are feedup frustrated and disappointed vent with a zero review. Understandable but it becomes a bit of a mess of zeros and 10s basically offsetting for an overall of 5. In my view this game and others affected by this are not a 5.

For me this game is about an 8.5 but I do agree it could have been alot better in terms of value for money in the content we received. There should have been a campaign for one. The little training missions were really cool. Surely they could have expanded this into a fully fledged epic starwars campaign. It is also clear the game was chopped up to sell the season pass. Is this a trend that we will accept. Its clear we are unhappy about it but its probably neccessary for it to be financially viable. Im not sure its simply motivated by greed but maybe it is. Destiny showed us how successful that can be but when it comes at the cost of sacrificing the overall quality of the game developers need to be careful as theres only so much gamers will accept. Perceived value to gamers is important. We do not want to feel like we are paying fullprice for half the game.

The game itself I love to play. I like that its been simplified to appeal to starwars fans. Walker assault has been my favourite mp mode. The rush of a team win as the rebels is fantastic. Personally I like the direction they took with this game. If your a casual gamer or a star wars fan or both I unreservedly recommend this game. Do not be put off by the negativity. It is a fantastic star wars casual gaming experience. I think thats what they were going for and they certainly delivered it but its upset those that wanted it like the original battlefronts.

The thing i do agree on is it needs a campaign to give it more content. The season pass im divided on cause I think its just the reality the gaming industry faces to meet rising costs. Am I happy about it? no but I do understand why they are doing it as trying to sell the full game at game plus season price cost would be less acceptable to gamers. Personally I would prefer to be getting the full game at a higher price. I hate dlc as much as the next gamer and usually do not buy it as i know i can not resell it.

Fighter Squadron stands on its own and is a fantastic flight simulator game mode that creates amazing air battles...oh yeah, with Tie Fighters and X-Wings!!
Supremacy is a ton of fun, a tug of war Rush type game with the ability to take and re-take control points. Very fluid game style and unlike any I've played before. Blast (TDM), Drop Zone and anyone who played the beta is familiar with Walker assault. Although Walker assault on Endor is ridiculously fun.
Any Star Wars fan will love this game, the musical score is immersive and you feel like you are in the SW universe. The Maps are incredibly detailed and wide open. Speeder bikes on Endor, AT-ST's, AT-ATs, A-Wings, Slave 1, the list goes on.
I don't understand the lack of content gripe either, so many game modes, and while there may be only 4 planets the maps on each planet cover a wide area. Destiny only launched with 4 planets and all of their game modes occurred on the same section of that map.

I'm sorry but no. Star Wars Battlefront is not unbalanced at all, the only reason why it may seem that way sometimes is in walker assault when you're in a group with a bunch of people who don't know what a **** objective is. I've played every game mode, and I can safely say that Walker Assault is NOT unbalanced. It is probably one of the best game modes.

For a good reason people want a campaign, yeh I get it, a campaign would be awesome but overall the multiplayer is what I play battlefront for. I know this may sound like I'm being biased towards one side of an argument... well yes I am, I am one person, I have one opinion because I am one person. I know it would be great if I could be multiple people and see things from every aspect, but I don't.... Let me put it like this.. It's my opinion, not factual.

People are constantly giving Fighter Squadron a hard time saying it's terrible... From what I've seen in gameplay, a lot of people don't know you can hold down LT (Left Trigger) and it helps you aim.. Seriously a lot of people aren't picking this up. Fighter Squadron, for me personally, is my favourite part of the game. I love the space battles as they look and feel so much like star wars, (in third person) while fighting in an x-wing over tatooine and destroying a tie fighter, I felt like I was in Star Wars episode 7. That shot where the X-Wing destroys the Tie-Fighter in that trailer, looks so much like this game. I love it.

Overall I love the combat, an area i felt kind of lacking was the heroes and villains. They're fun to be sometimes but there are some modes I wont be playing, e.g. hero hunt and Heroes VS Villains, I don't really enjoy being a hero fighting villains, I would rather just be a hero slashing up other people, that's why I detract from Heroes VS Villains and I don't like Hero Hunt as I become a hero/villain so much it gets kind of boring. However I really like the other game modes, the ones I play most of are: Supremacy, Blast, Walker Assault, Cargo and Fighter Squadron, as they are the ones I really like. The other 2, Droid Run and Drop Zone, are okay I guess, not my favourite but still pretty good.

Overall Battlefront is fantastic, sure there are a few things i dislike, the fact that there's a few weak game modes, I would like a story mode, despite the reason I don't play it for battlefront and I dislike the season pass BS. overall I think it's a great game, solid fun and I've had a great time on it overall.

Star Wars Battlefront takes one of the most well known brands and utilizes it in a way that's almost jaw dropping. Battlefront goes above and beyond in these places, but fails at putting enough content to make the game feel worthwhile. I've personally been using the same gun since I've started so I can have something to look forward later on in the game when I surely know it will become repetitive. Maps are great, but there aren't enough of them and there are only a few game modes worth spending time on. I hope Battlefront get's non-season pass support to keep regular players engaged in the game, because it's most importantly a very fun experience that is a dud in the content department. Expand

    Awesome game here is why:

Okay, so there are a bunch of people hating on this game. I'm a casual first person shooter and this game is geared towards my crowd. Yes, it doesn't have the content that you can get in other games. Yes, it doesn't have a single player campaign. Yes, it doesn't have a robust unlock system like other games. Now, that is out of the way lets get started.

I like Star Wars and this game offers everything a Star Wars fan wants. You have some tutorial missions you can run, some coop missions you can run, survival mode you can run, and the multiplayer. The game is a fun game to pick and play a couple of matches online. It doesn't take you that much time to run thru the online multiplayer matches so your not going to be sitting in front of the TV all the time. In a hour you can run two walker assault matches and one droid run match. Quick and easy. If your looking for a game that has all the fixings like Battlefield 4 or Call of Duty stay away. If you looking for a quick and fun Star Wars experience get it.

Does exactly what I wanted. An accessible, fun, online Star Wars shooter with staggering visuals, amazing attention to detail and enough modes to keep me occupied for months. It may lack the depth of Battlefield or the immediacy of Call Of Duty, but it's not meant to be either. Accept it for what it is, and what it wants to be, and it's just brilliant.

The game looses a big deal on the Price - content sector. They stripped the game to basics just to sell DLCs and Expansions. Just like it happened with Destiny. This is pure BAD MARKETING if you ask me and its a SHAME for a company with a big name like EA DICE to behave like this to the customers. However after unlocking all the star cards, a new addition to the game, and all the weapons, the only thing left to do is unlock the many customization's. It's also worth mentioning that the game works flawlessly. I've played for 12 hours now and only encountered one small display related bug. This is not trivial in this day and age where most of the games hit the shelves half broken or worse...

There is however one big miss, and that's the lack of content in the base game. With merely 4 maps per multiplayer mode (5 when the free Battle of Jakku DLC drops), playing the same mode for a long time will quickly get old. As as the multiplayer matches don't last very long, one rotation doesn't take that long.

DLC will make up for that over time, but most of that will be paid DLC. And it's yet to be seen how many players will actually buy this, as the season pass is reported to come with a pricetag of a complete game.
So the question remains whether with all the DLC content, you'd have full servers to play on...
This also beg the question how EA/Dice will handle the servers post-DLC. As there are no custom servers, the players will entirely depend on EA or Dice to give them populated servers with a proper map rotation.

    Summary:
+ Authentic Star Wars look and feel
    + Fun and addicting
+ Graphics that make any other PS4 title look bad

    - Lack of content in the base game
    - Overpriced DLC scheme
    - No custom servers
    - No single player campaign (there are single player/coop missions where you fight waves of enemies, but not even worth the mention in my opinion)

If you're not a fan of Star Wars and/or do not have online access, this game might not be for you. The game itself will have four expansions coming to it, and one could even say the development of the game is still early. I mean, just look at Destiny (the video game). When it was released, it sold well (because of the marketing) but the game itself was in many people's opinions (including mine) more of a flop. A year later however, more people bought the expansion to the game (than when the game was first released) because the game's developers literally redefined the game, almost improving on every aspect. My hope is that the same will be for Battlefront also. And you can't say Dice did not put effort and hard work into this game. Just by looking at the graphics and listening to the sound effects, you can tell that they loved Star Wars and they loved working with it. I read most of the professional critic reviews and most of the flaws in the game (according to them) were: the story (you can watch the freaking movies, it's STAR WARS for crying out loud), the soundtrack (Uh, they could have not HAD a soundtrack??? Plus, you can just mute it if you don't like it - the sound effects are good enough alone), and pointless game modes that are too similar to Battlefield and other shooters. That statement is highly opinionated and is sad to hear pro critics saying things like this. Besides, did you know that Battlefront started off as a Battlefield mod? Yes, in Battlefield 1942 there was a Star Wars mod and that's where game developers got the idea for Battlefront. If you don't believe me, you can do some research. Yes, a FEW disappointments here and there (soundtrack, modes that are "pointless," and no story), but overall, Battlefront is an amazing game fully deserving of a nine out ten rating an that is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Yes, it's an eight. Because a review of a video game should be based on the merits of it...not based on what you wanted it to be. The vast majority of negative reviews, by journalist and gamers, talk about what the game lacks. Now yes, DICE and EA put the Battlefront franchise tag on this game, which is just asking for trouble. But they have also asserted that this game was madeYes, it's an eight. Because a review of a video game should be based on the merits of it...not based on what you wanted it to be. The vast majority of negative reviews, by journalist and gamers, talk about what the game lacks. Now yes, DICE and EA put the Battlefront franchise tag on this game, which is just asking for trouble. But they have also asserted that this game was made predominantly for Star Wars fans. So in trying to please as much as possible both camps, Star Wars fans who may have never played FPS games like COD, Battlefield/Front, Destiny, CS:GO, etc. and those hard core FPS folks who can shoot a pebble off a stormtrooper's helmet @ 100 yds.

But the game is what it is, so let's address these negatives that have been voiced and I'll dismiss them one by one:

Lack of variety in terms of characters and weapons and vehicles. This is a silly remark, because it's Star Wars. So, no...there aren't any orcs or bows and arrows or motorcycles or combat knives. In fact, DICE has done a wonderful job pushing the envelope to actually create variety that really isn't in the Star Wars movie library. Yes, the expanded universe has a lot more going on, but about half of the weapons in the game were created from whole cloth by DICE to give just as much variety as possible. So no, you can't say a Halo game is shallow because don't ride a horse in it.

Next is the lack of a solo campaign. This is a game featuring multiplayer combat, but it's not just that...there is plenty of solo content as well. But again, that's not the focus of the game, that you're playing a one-person Star Wars adventure game. You're complaining about something. So next time you play Tetris, please don't complain about the lack of RPG elements.

Variety of missions...not counting the training missions there's 21 of them. So be quiet.

There isn't any content missing here. It is what it is. It's a Star Wars combat game, that is the most faithful, true Star Wars game EVER made. If you're looking for something else, then go play that and give that game a review based on what that type of game is supposed to deliver, but don't give this game RED scores because it's not the game you would have made.

So why don't I give this more than an 8? Well, there are times the game isn't fun. Being sniped by someone you never saw gets old fast. There are too many power ups that are overpowered, given that you can after a few ranks have your own arsenal with you. Getting plastered by proximity mines and other things over and over makes the combat low on the actual skill side and more on winning the power up lottery. I'd replace a lot of the weapon power ups with recharge pick ups.

The fighter combat is underdeveloped, giving artificial restraints on when you can do evasive maneuvers or when you can shoot a missile and the range of speed the fighters have is very limited, and doing it in cockpit mode is just suicide, in my opinion. In Walker Assault, air supremacy, especially when you're the Rebels is a big key to winning, and air combat is very hit and miss.

So there are some parts of what the game actually is that has me frustrated given how it could have been done better, but again, I think when you try to please everyone, well, you know the rest.

But no...this isn't a poor game that deserves a bad score, it is a labor of love, that yeah...maybe could have used a few more months of work and maybe some more content on release, but it was clearly scheduled to be released prior to holiday gift buying season and before a certain movie comes out on Dec 18.

So next time, DICE/EA....call the game Star Wars Wars and the Battlefront/COD fanboys won't drive down your metacritic score.

And for you FPS snobs out there...the dark side leads to suffering, yo.

The atmosphere all around; the sound and graphics instantly has me engaged in the Star Wars universe. It is a bit simplistic as it seems to cater to a wide audience who may have never played an online FPS and are buying just because a new movie is coming out. It is a fantastic game! Personally I loved the game, I know that there is much dissatisfaction with previous titles due to the lack of singleplayer campaign, but still I was looking for a multiplayer since I am not a CoD fan.

The ability to switch from first to third person is a breakthrough, if not the small fact that you can actually switch from one shoulder to the other, amazing.

Generally, multiplayer modes are great fun, I personally enjoy the 12 or 20 players ones, 40 players modes are a bit chaotic, that the impression I got. It is a game that is much more enjoyable played with friends or your PSN clan, because if you go solo and you face a coordinated team, I asure you that you'll suffer a lot! And seeing that your team does not focus on the objectives doesn't help at all, and Battlefront is purely focused on conquering the objectives. I have come to see matches where the max killer ended the game with 81 kills and his team still lost.

I would try to change and make easier most vehicles controls, since in some maps it's very complicated to handle.

As for the gameplay vs IA, it's just boring, that's for sure, but when you play with ppl is much more fun, especially when you try to complete the Master mode and 5 stars difficulty, is a worthy challenge that require coordination with your team and skill.

I've spent tons of hours playing Destiny and I'm immensely grateful for the rise up to 60fps (Destiny has 30fps), the gameis much more fluid. And what about the graphics? It is the strong point of this game, simply stunning.

One point that I would have strengthened to please the series fans (personally I'm not a Star Wars fan myself), would had been to put more background, both online and multiplayer versus AI.

As I said, for me it was one of the best multiplayer of the year and I'm enjoying it very much.

    See you ppl!

The gameplay is great, it's fun, addicting, not too hard to learn, the heroes and villains are great and so are the ships (if you have trouble flying them, invert Y axis, it helps a lot) the music and sound effects are simply PERFECT and the graphics are fantastic, DICE really nailed the star wars aesthetic here. The multiplayer in Battlefront is great, the best modes are Supremacy, Walker Assault, Hero's vs Villains and Fighter squadron.

Now this game isn't perfect, it DESPERATELY NEEDS the capability to do split-screen while in online multiplayer, that would be fantastic. There isn't enough offline content, the ability to play the online modes while offline against bots would fix that. There needs to be MORE planets/maps and heroes, it's disappointing that we are getting them in an overpriced season pass.

Now, is this game worth it's price?? If you love star wars and want a fun shooter that feels like star wars the YESSSS this is worth it. If you don't / kind of like star wars then i would not recommend this, the star wars feel just wont be for you. YES the game needs more content, NO this is not a bad game. Those wanting a game reminiscent of the older Battlefront titles are going to be disappointed. Same for those looking for a content rich experience. However people just looking for some Star Wars fun can find an enjoyable experience here. They just have to be willing to put up with some less than satisfactory aspects.

There's no single-player campaign. There is single-player, offline content, but it all just boils down to bot matches and tutorials. There are some bonus objectives to tackle in these modes, but the only one really worth spending any time with is the survival mode. Unfortunately it too has some issues. For one there are only four maps. It also limits the mode to only two players. It's decent, but the AI isn't the greatest and honestly it lacks the punch survival modes have in other games.

But by far the most disappointing part of the meager single-player offerings are that they show potential for what could have been an at least decent campaign. DICE nailed the universe. This game really does feel like Star Wars. Thee graphics and sound are both stellar. Combine those elements with some sharper AI, a solid plot, and decent structure and there could have been a campaign worth talking about. Sadly there isn't.

With the offline content being so lackluster this is definitely a multiplayer focused game. Thankfully it mostly succeeds there. However the more picky out there will still find plenty of gripes. It isn't exactly bursting at the seams with content. More maps at launch would have been appreciated as would have some more modes. I personally view what's here as at the very least a decent amount of content. The real sting about this though comes from the $50 season pass. It's like EA wants us to pay almost double for a more complete experience. Kind of a low move.

Another potential issue comes from the gameplay itself. Star Wars is a huge property. One that has attracted fans from every walk of life. In order to make a game that is accessible to as many of these fans as possible, it has been dumbed down in some ways from your average shooter. Skill still trumps all, but no matter what your gaming experience you can still feel at least a little proud of yourself when matches end. It's not too bad. The only real issue I have with it is the lack of voice chat. Without it there really isn't any strategizing going on outside of party chat with your friends. Some modes could benefit from it.

Yet for all of Battlefront's issues I still find myself having fun with it. That's because it feels like Star Wars. Blasting my way through familiar locations, getting hero power ups, and playing fun modes like Walker Assault make it an enjoyable enough an experience to recommend for most Star Wars fans. Even with most of the modes just being standard to the average FPS, the Star Wars skin keeps me entertained. Perhaps it's better off as a rental at first, but I think Star Wars fans just looking for some multiplayer fun are going to find something to enjoy here regardless of faults.

    I give the game a 7.5/10

Battlefront is on one hand a let down and on the other hand the Star Wars game I've always wanted to play.

The let down. Why this has been left out I can only guess at. Space battles. These are as important to a SW fan as a fight between Vader & Luke. They may be behind a EA paywall but we'll see very soon I suppose. That brings me to the biggest let down. The lack of maps. I know

That brings me to the biggest let down. The lack of maps. I know season passes are the norm now but this takes the p*ss.

Now this is where the Star Wars fan in me takes over. Looking up at the sky and seeing Slave 1 chasing down the Falcon causes a geekgasm. Then there's the sound and sights. Running towards a target hearing the sound of laser blasts or the swish of a sabre is perfect. The music ramps up when a hero enters the battle and this adds to the atmosphere.

Those moments stop this game from earning a 5. EA have screwed players over with the season pass and all of the modes except the Fighter battles feel like TDM.

I know EA have added the battle of Jakku for free but this doesn't change a thing. I love Star Wars and I play this game every day but I feel a bit cheated.

Battlefront has solid gameplay and very impressive looking maps and worlds - all of which engross you into the Star Wars universe. However the lack of content, that will be available as DLC, is noticeable, and the game you got on release day is fun at first but after a while it gets repetitive. Still a fun game to play though.

The maps are straightforward with enough complexity.

The spawns can be unfair sometimes, but nowhere as bad as Ghosts, or Advanced Warfare.

Walker Assault and Supremacy offer a big war ambient people know and love from Battlefield games.

One major gripe I have with this game is that there are only few maps for each game mode.

The biggest problem faced in this game is the constant gltiches, bugs and lack of support from EA and Dice and lack of content. It feels as if the game was designed to be released half finished and force its players to purchase DLC's to experience the true game. The game lacks single player which is a huge downside to the game. Despite the game having a extremely bad start, it isn't that bad overall. It's fun in small doses and as with any multiplayer competitive game can get extremely annoying and frustrating. Fun gameplay, it's not COD/battlefield level of sophistication but it's a reasonably level playing field and easy to pick up and play whilst also being open to players developing skill sets.

The lack of a campaign and solo play is not a factor for me, that is why I play the likes of MGS, Witcher etc so I purchased this game for multiplayer action which is what I have got.

Overall I can understand the complaints and I would have preferred a complete game up front rather than a ton of add ons through DLC. The guys complaining that air combat is too easy should figure out how to take it to the next level and the same with the rest of the game play imo. My conclusion is that it is a good game which might become great with updates, I've enjoyed it so far and am not bored after a couple of weeks.

Guns feel like they have little variation and all have zero recoil. Maps are nice looking but don't have anything to make them memorable. Gun-play is pay to win because if you paid for the Special edition you unlock a one hit kill weapon that means players with very little skill can easily beat decent players with luck. Leading to frustrating situations.

Sound is great, graphics are great but there is little content, only a few game modes and a handful of maps mean you will feel ripped off paying full price for this game. Maybe get the full version in a year when it's cheaper, been patched and all map packs are out. Until then I wouldn't really waste paying 60.00 on this game.

I liked the gameplay , is a bit simplistic, but is something that somehow reminds me of the old school FPS, and that is good. Not much content, as everyone says, but if you can get some discount, you'll find a funny, graphically gorgeous, Star Wars game... and try not(!) to think about the old Battlefronts

Graphics and sound are pretty good, but the game itself is well, boring.
There are a lot fewer bugs than battlefield 4, but I suspect that is because it is an ultra dumbed down version of the engine (no bullet drop, no destructive terrain, max 40 players).
There is no campaign mode (I think this is a good thing, but maybe there should be a single player title for those that want that)

Weapons are limited, and most of them are useless. There are no classes (medic, sniper, engineer etc) and its all hipfire, all the time (crouching/aiming make no difference to accuracy).

Sadly this game stands to be the biggest financial rip-off that I have ever seen to date as it's priced at £40 for the core game, & over £100 for the complete game!

Star Wars fans will buy SWB for the hype, it will sell well & be enjoyed by casual gamers, & the core gamers will either tire of it quickly, or play it in addition to other similar games, as a secondary, or tertiary game, but I doubt as a primary one.

They wanted to create big battles, yet they filled it with npcs. Meanwhile games like Planetside have 1200 people on a giant single map. The technology exists, but you gotta put in some effort. It's obvious EA doesn't care about making decent games, and only care about money and money from dlc with as little effort as possible. Oh, and any gane that you pay $60 for, pay for dlc, and still slaps on microtransactions is absolute garbage.

Let me start off with the game's good quality's. The Graphics, sound, and design overall is fantastic. Plus the game feels like your in a true, real, star war's battle (especially on Hoth). But the game's fun factor soon fades due to the lack of content.

There are to me personally, two good game modes, Supremacy and Fighter Squadron ( idk if thats the right name). All the rest seem to be filler game modes. Supremacy is a really good game mode, but seeing it only has 4 maps to go along with it kinda made it very repetitive after a while. The game also doesn't have much to offer to as of customization. I dont believe there is a single gun attachment. If that doesn't explain the lack of content i dont know what will.

Also there is no campaign, just survival. Which is by the way a very, very bland and boring horde mode. The only good factor of survival is the opening and ending CGI moments. But in the end those only depress me in the way that i would have rather had a fully done story.

Overall the game looks, sounds, and feels amazing (for a while). But lacks any real content to keep you playing. If your a true star wars fan i recommend buying this when the price is lower or picking up the season pass to ensure you get at least some more content in DLC form. If your not a hardcore fan, then you could pass on this, its really just a casual star wars experience.

The dense forests of Endor, the snow covered hills and valleys of Hoth have been painstakingly recreated to perfection. You are transported to a galaxy far far away like never before. In terms of game play, its very solid. It is not quite as hardcore as Call of Duty or Halo and leans more toward an arcade experience but the same gun handling skills that rack up kills in CoD and other major shooters will work here as well. Those claiming that this is Battlefield with a Star Wars skin are way off base. Naturally there are similarities since both games share the same developer but as a long time Battlefield vet I can tell you that this is a different animal. There is a wealth of modes here and while some are better than others the sheer amount of options is very welcome. I suspect most people will gravitate toward Walker Assault and Supremacy. These are both big team battle modes which focus on controlling specific areas of the map. If you are interested in a slightly more intimate experience there are plenty of modes which offer smaller player counts and cozier maps. However, the force is not entirely strong with this one as it could be and I do have a few gripes with the title. Respawns can be a bit problematic. I have spawned in the middle of an enemy battalion countless times. Some of the gun play can be erratic at times. In some instances a few laser bolts will put an enemy down for good while other times two dozen will have no effect. This does not happen very often and these could be connection issues or something that could be addressed with a patch but it is worth pointing out. My other issue with the game is that lack of maps at launch. The game ships with 4 planets and while they are all rendered beautifully and a blast to play a larger variety would have been most welcome. With all of that said this game is an absolute blast. Controls feel great and there is enough mode variety here to keep you busy for a long time. I do wish there was a dedicated campaign included but the multiplayer is so well designed that I can overlook the omission. I do want to point out that Star Wars fans will get a little more out of the title than non fans due to the fantastic sense of place which Dice has created here. There are plenty of Easter eggs throughout the maps that will tickle your nostalgia and put a big smile on your face. This game was made to allow players to relive their Star Wars fantasies and while there is still plenty here for shooter fans with no interest in the Star Wars universe, fans will get the most bang for their buck. I’m having an absolute blast. I hope that folks interested in the title give it a try and not be turned away from a great gaming experience by all the hate and misspelled reviews from people who have not even played this title. Most major review sites are giving it an 8 and I would say that is spot on. A well made and insanely fun shooter with a few minor shortcomings which are overshadowed by the fun factor. Expand

Overall the game is good, it doesn't feel like Battlefield and neither should it. It also plays better than COD. Expand

Born in 1991, I grow up watching Star Wars movies and buying all the stupid gadgets of the series available on the market but this game, well this game has an absolutely fantastic and gorgeous graphic, sound and level design... Nothing else, NOTHING
With only few maps, no customizations and not evan a single player campaign they ask fans 40$ for a season pass? Really!? I mean, Really!?

Minus a couple of little problems with spawns, this is such a good game! Its dice at its best. That being said, did you really want dice to deliver a single player given their track record? I didn't think so. Get this game, it's pretty cool

Bottom line, and most important, this game is fun but that fun is short lived. After a while it feels simply dry and missing a lot. The battles are intense especially Walker Assault and Supremacy which feature 40 players in each. An absolute must for any Star Wars fan and I can confidently say that it is the best Star Wars game I've ever played and there hasn't been a game before it that has truly captured the essence of the movies. I'm still not sure how I feel about this game. Everyone's criticism with the game are completely on point but at the same time, I've justified buying this by saying to myself "can I get the same amount of fun or more from going out and drinking 3 nights?" Anyway, here's what you get in the base game.

Everyone's criticism with the game are completely on point but at the same time, I've justified buying this by saying to myself "can I get the same amount of fun or more from going out and drinking 3 nights?" Anyway, here's what you get in the base game.

4 Maps: They say you get more but that's total BS. It's 4 maps that and sections are cutoff and tweaked a little for small game modes

3 Offline modes: Training - basically a tutorial but every game mechanic gets it's own quick little mission. Survival - you basic survival mode that you can play with a buddy offline, it gets real boring after one play though. Battle - You can fight a friend offline which can be fun if you're both similar skill levels, otherwise it's basically just beat up your friend who doesn't own the game mode.

Character Customization: You can purchase a new head from a somewhat ethnically diverse selection with in-game points. The higher your level, you can unlock and purchase (in-game credits) one of the 3 hair styles for each head. Get near the high levels you can get a scout trooper, shadow trooper skin for the empire and a handful of different alien head for the rebels.

9 Multiplayer Mods: There is suppose to be one more coming as well with the free dlc. So there actually is quite a few game modes, but you'll probably spend most of your time in Supremacy or Walker Assault. If you like dogfighting there is a mode just for star fighters where you jump into a big mess and shot down AI and Humies.

I feel like we are giving EA a little too much flack for having a season pass since that has pretty much been the standard in AAA games for a while now. At least this one you're likely to get quite a bit of content in the DLCs. The big question of course is, how much of that should have been in the base game? More than what's there but the game is pretty, it's star wars and it's kind of fun so like a moth to the flame I go.

What a wonderful game for online multiplayer lovers. There are many different game modes, so you can choose if you want to play close quarters ( blast), capture the flag(cargo), capture bases (supremecy) or one of the other 6 modes. the pace is right, non stop gameplay for domination. yes there is no single player campaign, but im in it for the online :) and oh ya, the graphics are insane

Also, people say that the flying parts of the game are terrible, I have to admit, they are not fantastic but they are good. As a star wars fan, I myself am a bit disappointed at the lack of content.. and as a seasoned fps player, I'm disappointed in the lack of customization and feel of shooting. With that said, this game has amazing sound, spot on visuals, and while the gameplay is rather average and "point & shoot" simple, it still manages to be fun most of the time and though I stated it is "point & shoot" simple, it still takes a level of skill and quickness to get kills consistently opposed to other fps's. Vehicle use is disappointing, as previous battlefront and even battlefield games you had to first learn how to fly under control before learning how to dogfight, this game it's far too easy to control vehicles and getting kills in vehicles is far too easy and less skillful. Not every game mode is great but it's still fun (though having no galactic conquest is downright confusing). And in defense of this game having no campaign, they warned us consumers about that, so if you buy this unaware of no campaign and it being online only.. then my guess is you're mentally lacking and you need to do your research before dropping $60+ dollars on a game. Anyway I give this game an 8 for reasons that the sound and graphics are amazing, the ability to play as star wars heroes is cool, and while gameplay is simplistic and is more of a "point & shoot" fps, it still takes much more skill and quickness to get kills consistently than other fps's... i.e. Call of Duty! And the maps are big, interactive, and much more detailed than other repetitive fps's out there. Expand

It's not the most complex shooter, but it's the ideal pick-up-and-play experience for Star Wars fans. Stunning environments, solid shooting and immersive sound design mask the shortcomings. [Jan 2016, p.82]

With the new film of the space opera saga finally on the big screen and the release of Battlefront's new sequel, both after a decade overdue, it is definitely the best time to be a Star Wars fan. The game itself is a dream-come-true for fans, and the Star Wars spectacle is strong in this one. However, if it is depth and longevity you seek... this is not the game you are looking for.

Spectacular production values help to make this game enjoyable in the early going, but it soon enough shows that it is painfully lacking in terms of maps and depth in its current form. [Issue#265, p.72]
