    Looks amazing but is hollow. There is nothing to this game without the visuals. Game play is very VERY bad in terms of fun factor and when compared to the originals.

    I'm one of those people that has been waiting for a Star Wars game where you get to play story mode, I figured I'd try this out anyway it's fun at first and looks and sounds amazing but not much to the gameplay as it becomes boring quickly.

The cash grab season pass for all developers needs to stop. People just don't have the cash to keep spending on a gamble with games these days. The turnip has been bled dry EA.     Gameplay: Played EA Access over the weekend for 10 hours and 2 issues. That netcode again and spawns are worse than battlefield. I have literally spawned in front of the enemy and spawn trapping can be done. The spawns will be a major complaint in the coming weeks along with hit detection. Just your typical EA/DICE multiplayer game.

    Verdict: Rent before you buy or wait a month as EA usually cuts the price in half. Then you can snag it. If you do buy towards the full price, try buying used from gamestop. You get 7 days to return any used game at gamestop if you do not like it. No questions asked. There is always gamefly where you can set the 1 month free trial and try BF for free also.

    3/10 is my final score. You will get bored quickly. If you don't believe me then by all means try one of the ways I mentioned above and save as much of your hard earned cash as possible.    … Expand

    It doesn't bring anything new, it lacks content and is a generic fps game with few maps. It looks great, props, but you will get bored or exhausted after a few hours. Rent it, don't buy it.

The offline is a joke (2 player splitscreen over two pretty easy and boring game modes). The online customization is limited compared to other online FPS, customizing your character consists of changing a hairstyle or skin color, and there isThis game is nothing like the Battlefront of old. It is Battlefield with Star Wars, but it doesn't even do a good job of being a Battlefield clone. The offline is a joke (2 player splitscreen over two pretty easy and boring game modes). There are only a few maps, and they are mostly pretty dull and uninspired. I don't know why they cut the prequels out of this game, as that removes almost all of the fun lightsaber-wielding heroes (not that it matters, they did away with assault) and many of my favorite locations. Speaking of heroes, there are only 6, including Leia (over Chewbacca and Yoda) and their combat is 3 abilities that are not fun to use (I did enjoy lightsaber throw) and have long cooldowns. Battles feel small and characters die too fast. There are only a few fun game modes online, and those get boring.

    They turned this game into an online FPS. However, it is greatly outclassed in fun and amount of content by most competitors. If you really want to try it out, rent it from Redbox or Gamefly first. This game was clearly rushed to be released before the movie to increase sales.    … Expand

    The same old, same old.

    The game is good, but once again EA rips out content to sell it to you as DLC. The game would have been great with all the content left, even worth the $60 or more. But we get a shallow game and are forced to buy DLC if we want the full experience.

    The graphics are great. The sound is great. But as this is not a complete game, I cannot give it a complete score.

    The graphics and sound design are stunning. And that's were the praise ends. Battlefront fails to deliver space battles, clone wars or 32v32 battles. These are all things battlefront 2 has offered from 2005. This game is very overpriced and I recommend waiting until the price drops.

    This game is a bad joke, you have to be to ingenuos to buy this, and later buy the rest of the game. That have incredible music? Yes the same as the movies, the same for the characters and weapons. This is headles chickens shooting each others with Star Wars skins. Please don't be a fool buying this title.

Darth DICE clearly looked at the original games of the series, said "Okay, this is really cool" and then proceeded to model the game after the aftermath of their next meal at Chipotle. I might have ditched my girlfriend to play this game, but at least I'm still getting screwed by EA.

    I just kept going through the menu's trying to find where the game was, but clearly EA and DICE forgot to put it on the disc. Oh well, at least they have their money, clearly that's all this game was about anyway. I had to think for a moment whether I had to check the box on this review to have a spoiler warning, but honestly there is absolutely no content in the game to be spoiled.

    It's sad that this game may be considered successful because EA and DICE pulled the wool over the fanbase's collective eyes and we all had to buy it to find out how crappy it is. We expected Luke Skywalker, and we got Jar Jar Binks. If you want to play Battlefront, break out the PS2, because this game is not Battlefront. Time to get back to Fallout 4, or literally anything else.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Horrible. There is no true single player campaign and the rest is repetitive. Do not waste your Christmas money like I did. This game is getting returned ASAP. This whole idea of holding back content and/or releasing un-finished games is ridiculous. These games already cost $60 and paying more $$$ to get the rest of the game is a rip-off. Oh yeah, the vehicles controls are awful too! I love Star Wars and could play a mediocre game just because of the genre. That should say how bad this game is right there. I have never written a review before this either, but I felt I had to to keep people from wasting their money.… Expand

    They stripped everything that they could, to leave as little as possible so the players don't think they have been cheated, ask 60 bucks for it and sell the rest for even more profit. The game with all DLC's should be game they initially released for 60 bucks, but by that time you already payed easily over $110 ! I feel cheated and makes me never to buy anything again from EA. They basically doubled the price of their games very sneaky and most of the people just fail to see this and just want to complete their collection. It's not a collection ! It's the initial game that's striped down and they sell it back to you piece by piece. Nothing else.

    This is very noticeable here in Battlefront ! How you might ask ? Well, here's why.
    They say that they have so many planets and locations and modes to choose from to play. Well, that's wrong and overinflated ****

    First off, the modes are basically standard for a game like this. One mode that is basically a trademark for this franchise is the walker assault that is not found in any other game. In rest, name a mode from any other game and you'll find it in battlefront. This is actually not a bad thing, but it's not very innovative because the only mode they have extra is basically Supremacy on the move.

    And now to planets and locations. For each mode they have a different location, one on each planet. The problem is there are only 4 planets ! the planets are: Endor, Hoth, Sullust and Tattooine !
    You will get bored very fast of only those 4 planets and craving for more different locations. They are pleasing to the eye and the graphics are good, even one of the best looking game this year, but it is just not enough to overlook the fact that this is not enough. They have just tried it to hard. The maps are very polished, no visual artifacts or major bugs, but this is to such an extend that they have put way to much time into those 4 planets that it does not matter anymore how polished they are. In the time they polished this 4 planets they could have used it to just add another two planets. This would have been much more worth than to just have 4. It gets very fast, very repetitive, and after just 2 or 3 days of playing i'm forcing myself to enter the game just to play it, just so i won't regret paying 60 buck for this game. I'm literally only playing just to get my money worth out of it until i'm sick playing it. This is not good for a game.

    Now, to be fair, for each planet and mode there are different maps. There are about 3 maps for each planet for the different game modes. The problem is that although the map layout is different from one to another, they feel very similar altogether, and this is a bad thing. The most diverse locations are actually the interior of buildings.

    We expected certain elements from a Battlefront game, and what we got just isn't enough to recommend to any Star Wars fan. I just tell them to go back to Battlefront 2 cause with that game they will have much more fun than with this one.

    And now my biggest complain of this review, would be the fact the it is just a Battlefield game beneath it.
    I have Battlefield and all those kind of shooter, and hoped they would not go that path, but they did.

    I'm a gamer, but i don't play a lot of shooters. And if i do, i do it for the story or for the fun of it. If it has a 3rd person camera i'm more likely to play it.
    But i'm also a very big Star Wars fan, and at each step of my life i had a SW game beside me to play it, from the early 90's.
    So the first thing i wanted to do is jump right in a game and play with Darth Vader ... but wait ... whaaaaaat ?

    So i can't select my factions, they distribute you to a random faction in each game, but to alternate you from each game. Why ? Just please tell me **** WHY !??? I'm imperial for life and the very first game i enter i'm a rebel scum ?! My first impression was that this was just ridiculous. I know that this was done to keep a balance, but at least give me chance to switch sides if the other team lacks people just like in counter strike ... but no ... i'm forced to play as this team. And don't you dare to leave this game, cause you didn't finish your rebel duties so they'll put you again as a rebel the next game.

    Wow, 5000 characters ain't enough for me to say what i want. In the end, don't buy the game. If you did, ask for a refund !    … Expand

You hover over a magical token and then get transported to a whole other location inside the vehicle matching the token. Each vehicle can be destroyed in short of 5 hits (unless your in an aircraft then its two) This game ignores balancing weapons. A pistol can kill you in o shots in which a long range rifle takes several shots to accomplish. There is no story mode just a confusing battle of 40 players. No strategy involved just run up to a enemy and start tossing grenades. The number one thing that makes me uppset is there is no scaling system, no good players fight good players it is just a random slotted game to where new players could be pitted against seemingly maxed level players who just dominate. I have been on boh sides of that were the score can be 15-100 or 100-45. The re spawn system, is utter crap you spawn behind the enemy lines and flank the entire team adding the factor that your allies can spawn on you (which is bs) they erased the Control point spawns and choosing what CP you wish to spawn at. The terrain is difficult to tread over as many points in the game take several tries to jump over a simple log. When throwing any type of grenade if you are killed your grenade ceases to exist. It should at lease drop to the ground but if killed the game doesn't registering even thrown it. You can unlock every weapon in a span of one week and thats for an average gamer. There is no extended content just multiplayer scenarios that were thrown into the mix. I gave this game a 0 on the rating yes this game is fun (for about 4 hours) the graphics are amazing and the infantry controls are pleasing to play but it appalled me of how they created a bull S&it game and tried to cover it up with good graphics a amazing marketing promotion. The man who was in charge of there marketing division should get a promotion because with out him many people would not have even bought this game in the first place. I have so SO much more to talk about but this just gets me angrier and angrier thinking about it. My copy goes back today.… Expand

    As a fan of the Star Wars: Battlefront series loved aspects such as the Campaign story from Battlefront 2.
    The 501st story was a brilliant addition to the solid foundation that Battlefront set before it. Conquest mode was an exemplar of what a non-story based game mode should have been.

    However if you were looking for even a semblance of these fan favourite game modes within the newest incarnation you will be sorely disappointed.

    Summary:

    + Beautiful Landscapes and Scenery.
    + Entertaining enough until the novelty wears off.

    - Minimal Single Player Content.
    - Shallow Multiplayer Combat.
    - Ridiculous lack of Overall Content.
    - Disgusting focus on DLC.

    Conclusion
    Don't waste your money. At best this game is worth 60% of its asking price.    … Expand

    I wanted to like this, but I just couldn't play it for another hour. I was able to return the entire bundle with Best Buy. I'm a hardcore battlefield player and this was just too basic for me to enjoy. No progression, no fps mechanics, lack of weapons configuration. This had so much potential if they kept the battlefield formula.

    A game that costs over $100 (season pass + basic game) with lots of content cut from the original Lucasarts series = garbage. If you enjoy really good Star Wars graphics patched into a Battlefield engine have at it but be warned it will cost you some extra cash in the long run.

    So I played this game for two hours and became extremely bored. Flying still sucks like the beta. Honestly it's not much more added from the beta. Hero/Villian mode was fun but became boring really quick.

    I paid 80$ CAD for this?!! I like supremacy game mode. But there are only 4 maps and 2 of them I don't like. Some Battlefield DLC have more content. Game feels dull.

    The original battlefront that came out on ps2 almost 10 years ago has better/more content (alot more content) This game is just a super caked up glossy FPS with boring gameplay and guns. disappointed with the potential this could have had.

    Despite being a big-time SW fanboy, I am disappointed with the new Battlefront game. Although the presentation of this game is beautiful, amazing looking and sounds fantastic, if you are like me and buy this game hoping for a new version of the original Battlefront series this game leaves a lot to be desired. The game plays far more like Call of Duty or Battlefield than the originalDespite being a big-time SW fanboy, I am disappointed with the new Battlefront game. Although the presentation of this game is beautiful, amazing looking and sounds fantastic, if you are like me and buy this game hoping for a new version of the original Battlefront series this game leaves a lot to be desired. The game plays far more like Call of Duty or Battlefield than the original Battlefront games, and not being huge into FPS games makes this game unplayable for me because I am constantly one-shotted by FPS pros. Also half of the game has been left out of the initial release to sure up some more revenue for EA through selling the other half as DLC or as a $50 'season pass'.… Expand

I'm more of a single player / coop / split screen kind of guy so hearing the lack of love for the offline player is Very disappointing. It's amazing how 10 years ago LucasArts understood what people wanted with Battlefront 2 and all EAHow sad all flash and no substance. Embarrassing, guess I'll have to see how much store credit BestBuy will give me for it. The only hope I have for it is that EA gives a ton of free content like they did with Mass Effect 3, but seeing that they're already advertising a $50 season pass I won't hold my breath.… Expand

    Star Wars Battlefront is one of the most anticipated games of 2015. It has the words ‘Star Wars’ in the title, so it’s pretty easy to get worked up about. I was looking forward to this game very, very much, especially since I am a big Star Wars fan. I know I am probably in the minority when I say this, but I’m not really big on online multiplayer, which is something this game almostStar Wars Battlefront is one of the most anticipated games of 2015. It has the words ‘Star Wars’ in the title, so it’s pretty easy to get worked up about. I was looking forward to this game very, very much, especially since I am a big Star Wars fan. I know I am probably in the minority when I say this, but I’m not really big on online multiplayer, which is something this game almost completely relies on. It has no single player story, just a couple different modes that aren’t all that fun and take about only an hour to complete. The computer A.I. is a little off and it is never as fun as playing online. I would have liked to see a story unfold full of my favorite Star Wars characters, such as the one in Disney Infinity 3.0, which is probably the best Star Wars game of the year, oddly enough. After spending several hours with Battlefront, I am sad to say the luster wore off pretty quickly.

    Battlefront’s visuals and sound design are its strongest assets, along with the multiplayer action. There are around eight modes you can play online. A few notables are Droid Run, Heroes vs Villains, Blast, Walker Assault, Cargo and Supremacy. With these modes, players are able to play as their favorite hero or villain and battle against the opposing side, take cargo from one side of a map to the others, while also defending it, and have an all-out war with 20 vs 20 or 10 vs 10 players. These are just a few examples. My favorites were Cargo, Blast and Heroes vs Villains. While my time with the game was fun while it lasted, the fun began to fade. Even my love for Star Wars couldn’t save it. The shooting mechanics are solid, just like that of the Call of Duty titles, but when you have a game that is multiplayer-only and have nothing else to offer, it can’t really stand on its own two feet. The gameplay has some issues to note. I am not an excellent gamer when it comes to online shooters, but I also don’t suck, because I have played games since I was about 7 years old. No matter what I did, I always seemed to die way more than get kills. Other gamers I know have echoed these sentiments. It could be a combination of gameplay problems and some players just playing religiously and becoming way better than casual players. Also, when you die, the game puts you far away from the action, so you have to continually run towards the battle while simultaneously getting killed over and over. It takes the fun away pretty quickly. The lack of weapons and customization doesn’t help the game’s case either.

    What is most troubling about Battlefront is that EA decided to price the game at $60, while also releasing a DLC in December that is also around $60. That is a little ridiculous, especially for what you are getting. To me, that is highway robbery and I see it as EA taking Star Wars fans’ hard-earned money. If you compare this game to the two original Battlefronts on PS2 or even Rogue Squadron for Gamecube, it looks pretty pathetic. That is a sad thing to say because here we are, ten years later, getting half the package we did back then at the same price point. I miss the days when DLC didn’t exist to be honest. All of the content was already there. Nowadays, with the exception of a few companies, DLC is overpriced and released later on. It just doesn’t make sense and it is an obvious cash grab. Let’s look at it in two ways to gain some perspective. For one, take Star Wars out of it. Imagine that everything is the same: Gameplay, visuals, sound design, multiplayer. Then, how would it hold up? For two, ponder the thought of the game being developed by someone else. CD Projekct Red, Remedy, Bethesda…how much better would it have been? As a Star Wars fan, I won’t let EA rob me. I will not buy this game. I may pick it up way later on down the road, pre-owned, when it is in the bargain bin, but that’s it.     it's a great book with only a good front page just reed the résumé on the back and you will know everything you need to know about it, but there is not even a résumé of storie so it's an empty book with a nice polish hard cover.

    hope they correct the big hole with free DLC

    -Four maps. They aren't incredibly big, either. Sometimes the spawns are so packed you spawn and die, like a 20 v 20 on Nuketown. It can just be chaos, and frustrating to play.

    -"Buy the seasons pass to get the rest of this game" No. I was unimpressed i spent $100 to get this thing. I will not spend another $70 to get another hour or two of gameplay on each DLC,

    -NO story mode. None, whatsoever. offline play consists of training (Tutorials) Survival mode (Easy as can be), and this failed multiplayer simulator. I was really hoping to hop on the couch with friends, my girlfriend, etc and be on a team of 18 other AI facing 20 AI. or even 12 v 12, if that hurts the rendering engine. But no. you get a 4v4, where you have to run and pick up the tokens once an AI dies, and you don't get to fight with your friends, just against them. Who on earth thought of that. EA, start to redeem yourself and fire those people.

    -No replayability. I've tallied 3 hours, I'll probably never touch this game again. Rent it, borrow it off a friend, but heed my warning, and do not buy it.

    -Online based. Like EA does, the servers will eventually go offline due to a new title being released, and it doesn't have the option to buy/manage your own server. Therefore, if you DO decide to put in hours, eventually, you won't be able to access it.

    I gave this game a pity 2/10 just because of the graphics and sound. It's a very basic, very beta FPS, with not a lot of mechanics that hold up to any other FPS, let alone from DICE. You can definitely tell the tyrant that is EA got their claws into the crew, and cracked the whip hard on them. I am posting this to save people the money, and hopefully so EA can read this, like the thousands of others like it, and change the game, because this is exactly what is wrong with the gaming industry now.    … Expand

Star Wars universe was always about story and this game does not really have any. There are also few maps and game does not keep your interest for long.     First of all why do the bad guys have green lasers? I would assume that the good guys would have those lasers, it makes for really confusing gameplay in situations. I'm never sure which side is firing where! The fact that you cannot engage auto pilot while flying is terrible game design.     My biggest frustration is that Jar Jar Binks is NOT I REPEAT NOT a playable character. I think its pretty clear who the most important character in the whole Star Wars franchise really is, and they couldn't acknowledge it .

You can easily lvl once/twice each time you play one map, unlocks make no real difference.

Technically this game is amazing, graphics is probably the best looking on PS4 and movements even smoother than COD.. but after playing a few hours on online modes, it is pretty much just a purposeless laser tag game with nice graphics but very limited maps. I don't see why you would take a good product (the early Battlefront games) and then strip away all of the best parts about it (space battles, clone wars, etc.).     It has - no Prequel Era Content - no Galactic Conquest - no Campaign - no server Browser - no VOIP - no Private Servers - no support for clan matches - no instant action ( online    My rating of 0 is based entirely on the fact that this game is called "Battlefront".
    As a Battlefront game, it can not compete with Star Wars Battlefront 1 ( SWBF1) and Star Wars Battlefront 2 ( SWBF2).
    It has
    - no Prequel Era Content
    - no Galactic Conquest
    - no Campaign
    - no server Browser
    - no VOIP
    - no Private Servers
    - no support for clan matches
    - no instant action ( online mods cannot be played offline with bots, you just have missions which gets boring extremely fast )
    - just 4 planets at launch compared to 18 ( + 6 space maps ) in SWBF2
    - max. player count of 40 players ( compared to 64 on SWBF2 PC TEN years ago
    - Cargo ( CTF ) is just 6 vs 6 players ( compared to 12 vs 12 on SWBF2 on PS2! )
    - No dodge roll ( every Battlefront veteran knows that was a core game mechanic )
    - 6 heroes compared to about 18 in SWBF2
    - AT-AT on rails
    - Tow-Cable shot doesn't have to be aimed, it's just pressing two buttons
    - Snowspeeder circling the AT-AT is on rails and you play a mini-game instead of flying it yourself
    - Infinite Grenades ( the game is an explosion spamfest )
    - Infinite ammo
    - Vehicle lock-on like there's no tomorrow
    - Infantry lock-on
    - Literally no skill gap

    I could go on but you see where I'm going with this.
    It utterly disappoints as a Battlefront game.
    Especially compared to what Free Radical had envisioned for the franchise.

    The game's graphics and sounds are amazing but they won't keep players interested for long.
    EA will try to keep this game alive through DLCs.

    Battlefront veterans have been waiting 7+ years on a sequel to the franchise.
    Then we get this.

    So for a Battlefront game I can only give this game 0/10 points.

    As a shooter it's slightly better, but still far from being worth the 120 bucks for the full game.
    Especially compared to games like Battlefield or Counter Strike.

    If you have a lot of money to spare, don't care about the degradation of the gaming industry if you support and buy this game, only play 1-2 hours in two weeks, then buying it might be an option.

    For everyone else I recommend avoiding this game either until the price has dropped immensely, or not buying it at all.

They worked lines from the movie into other characters' dialogue to the point where it sounds like the people in the game saw Star Wars recently and are reciting lines to each other like an inside joke, while fighting Star Wars battles. "We've captured the point. ALL TOO EASY!" Han Solo recites lines we've heard in a dozen other games, but only heard once in the movies. The game wasn't written to fit in within the SW movies, it was assembled verbatim from them. Worse, it was assembled from the Star Wars movies we've seen a hundred times. Conveniently rushed to shelves in time to see a new one hit theaters in a few weeks, but we don't see any of that one here.

    The problem is that if you were to strip away the Star Wars theme from these battles and reskin it with pretty much anything else, the game is not good. Sure, it feels like the originals, but they're a decade old. There's no excuse for this game to be the least bit shallow in terms of content, but there it is. You're running around looking for glowing tokens like Crash Bandicoot looking for fruit.

    It comes down to people who are happy with what we were handed here, and the people who see what this could have been. It could have expanded on things like Jedi Knight or KOTOR, could have had gameplay options and freedom like the Arkham games did for Batman (tell me using the grapple hoist line Luke used to grenade the AT-AT, but free to use anywhere creatively wouldn't have been amazing) but instead we got the standard EA movie tie-in treatment.    … Expand

    This game lost all Star Wars stuff like the old Star Wars games had. They copy paste the engine and whole game and made some Gamemode changed and model and skin and the Skybox that's all in Battlefront 2 we could do more things.

    It's fun sure, I love it. But the game frustrates me more than it gives me enjoyment. Broken spawns, unbalanced.. everything, one-sided game modes like fighter squadron and walker assault. Well hell, one-sided everything in favor of the rebels really except maybe heroes vs villains. Did Dice even play their own game?

    GAMEPLAY:
    The weapons that both the Imperial and Rebel side are blasters. Since they are more easy to make and don't require alot of thought to them, they're alright-ish. The thing is, there are only 11 weapons and the spread of all the blasters are so damn random that you never really get used to it and that you don't feel like you actually earned a kill, just luck. And what makes me more pissed about it, is that the DL-44 weapon that is at the top is the EXACT SAME model of Han Solo's blaster that you get in the deluxe edition!
    Now that's out of the way there are the Heroes and Villains, classic characters like Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia on the Heroes side and Darth Vader, Boba Fett and Emperor Palpatine on the Villains side.
    If you get one of these Heroes/Villains, you're instantly guaranteed 20-30 kills. Boba Fett is particularly troublesome as he has his Jet pack and can jump around giving the normal players not much of a chance to get shots on him.

    Now the game modes, there are like 9 of them, Walker Assault, Supremacy, Blast, Heroes VS Villains, Hero Hunt, Fighter Squadron, Cargo, Droid Run and Drop Zone.

    Walker Assault is the most fleshed out and played game mode, the rebels have to take down the AT-AT Walkers while the Imperial defend them. Pretty much that. The rebels have to capture uplinks to spawn in a Y-Wing to make the AT-AT vulnerable to attacks. Other than that small time period of vulnerability, the AT-ATs are virtually indestructible. The Imperials have to shut down the uplinks and escort the AT-ATs from point A to point B. This by far is the most fleshed out game mode there is.

    Supremacy is a domination style game mode where Rebels and Imperials fight for five key points in a 40 player clash. There's really nothing special here.

    Blast is just Team deathmatch.

    Heroes VS Villains is exactly what it is, three players play as Heroes while three players play as Villains with some other players as ground troops. Kill all the heroes on one side and your team or the opposing team gets a point. By far one of the least played game modes but also the best one.

    Hero Hunt is one Hero vs 7 Stormtroopers. The hero will soak up LOTS of damage and it'll take LOTS of time to kill the hero. The stormtrooper who gets the last hit on the hero becomes a hero.

    Fighter Squadron is an aerial combat gamemode where Rebels and Imperials clash in the airs. Basically Team deathmatch in the air. Some special vehicles appear, that being Slave-I and the Millennium Falcon.

    Cargo is just capture the flag.

    Droid Run is an escort mission where the Rebels escort an R2 unit from point A to point B while the Imperials try to stop them.

    Drop Zone is like moving domination. Escape pods are crashing from the sky and Rebels and Imperials fight for control over them.

    GRAPHICS AND SOUND

    Graphics are absolutely AMAZING. Everything is beautiful, from far and close. Amazing job DICE.
    Sound Design also is absolutely AMAZING. Everything sounds authentic, you feel like you're in the Star Wars universe for some time until you snap out of it.

    PROGRESSION

    Oh boy. Atrocious, absolutely atrocious. Only 11 weapons and these "Star Cards" Basically cards that give you a weapon, grenade or whatever else. But there are these Trait cards that give an advantage to higher ranked people against newer players. Totally unfair.
    The customization? HAHAAAAAHAHAHA!!! Laughable. Totally laughable. You only start unlocking the cool stuff when you're high ranked. Even then it's already laughable compared to other Battlefront games.

    VALUE, DLC, MICRO PAYMENTS

    IT'S A TRAP! Do NOT buy this game if you're looking for great value! There is LITERALLY NOTHING that you can do other than unlock accessories and Star Cards. After about 2 hours of game I feel like I already saw it all. There's nothing unique.
    "Oh but there is DLC coming!" Don't come to me with that **** If a game company isn't giving the players a good initial value then why bother paying for it. I made a mistake buying this game.    … Expand

    I am happy tho that most of you got burned, because u guys need to learn to stop pre-ordering games (especially from EA!). they even revealed what was going to be missing. And having the gall to announce a $50 DLC package before the original game even comes out is a scummy business practice, and one that really needs to die.

Its difficult to employ any strategy when players are spawned in random areas. No hardcore option so if you cant keep fire on the enemy for 3 full seconds...no kill. Calling the season pass a "season pass" and saying it will come out soon is misleading and saying that the game is "battlefront" is misleading. The game mechanics are ridiculous too, ex.. when your in 3rd person mode you'll find yourself crouched next to a wall and will hit the wall when shooting instead of it shooting from your Reticle, spending 2 minutes trying to find "the right angled slope" to put a turret down when there's no indicator, trying to walk up a slope and being unable to and then walking up the same angled slope next to it... etc etc 3 pages later. I actually take the time and effort to see if something is an EA product now because it feels so much like a scam. The graphics are great and it has 2 hours of game play but the fact that they mislead so much using the game name "battlefront" and have no elements of it in the game, not even conquest gives this rating an auto 0. :(… Expand

If they worked on it for another year, added more planets/maps, added more heroes, allowed you to fly upside down for more than 2 seconds, let you steer your snowspeeder while it's taking down a walker, and made it so your lightsaber can actually cut people while it's coming back to you then... yeah.     £49.99 for the base game is already expensive for a PC game in my opinion, but the fact that it is merely a shell for paid DLC is disgusting. £95 for a game? **** off.

    This game is awful, stick to Battlefront 2. Graphics are mediocre and gameplay is dull. Do yourself a favor and buy Fallout 4 or something, a much better purchase.

    Due to the amount of content that has not been released with the game, only to be sold as a "season pass" is a joke. and i will not support these games.

I have always liked Battlefield since its inception so giving me a Battlefield style game wrapped with Star Wars was guaranteed to make both my Battlefield and Star Wars inner fanboy happy. By and large, I do enjoy the game, even the run-and-gun nature of the ground combat because, honestly, that frenetic pace is consistent with the Star Wars universeI'm genuinely torn about this game. I have always liked Battlefield since its inception so giving me a Battlefield style game wrapped with Star Wars was guaranteed to make both my Battlefield and Star Wars inner fanboy happy. By and large, I do enjoy the game, even the run-and-gun nature of the ground combat because, honestly, that frenetic pace is consistent with the Star Wars universe (see: Hoth in ESB, Endor in RotJ).

    That said, however, it's certainly NOT a *Battlefront* game. It's nothing like the former Battlefront titles and despite the amount of multiplayer modes presented it feels shallow. No decent single player function outside of a handful of really boring missions with only a handful of AI populating the large maps and no story mode. The game really sticks to the Original Trilogy timeline which is OK to a point but really limits overall locations they could use. I'm not a huge fan of the prequel trilogy but I can't help but think it would have been somewhat amazing to have Clone Wars locations or even the whole Geonosis/Hunt for Count Dooku battle. The cynic in me thinks these things might yet make an appearance... if one is willing to dish out the money for the season pass.

    I've also noticed the game is particularly buggy and frequently laggy. Hit detection is off significantly at times, especially with vehicle combat. You can replicate this issue frequently by doing the Snowspeeder training on Hoth: The AT-STs randomly ignore blaster fire even when the game registers a hit on the UI reticule. I can live with this to an extent because of the run and gun nature of some of the modes but it tends to ruin the larger modes that include both vehicles and heroes.

    There is one thing I am NOT torn about and that is the fact that the dogfighting mode, Fighter Squadron, is absolute garbage. DICE had the opportunity to pick up the baton that was dropped by LucasArts following the ancient X-Wing Alliance but what was delivered is a sluggish, bland, aerial fighting game. The mode doesn't even take place in space, which I can't understand since it would have taken less effort to populate a three dimensional spacescape than the current terrain being used. The differences between TIE, TIE Interceptor, X-Wing, and A-Wing are nominal, at best all but defeating the purpose. The shields granted to the rebel ships effectively double their health and make it nigh impossible to destroy them even with a barrage of ion torpedoes and blaster fire from the TIEs. And it is THIS mode where the hit detection and lag problems are at their worst as you can often unload your weapons into an enemy ship only for it to register zero damage or you may be tracking down a ship only for it to magically warp a hundred (game) meters behind you where it's now locking onto you instead. I was genuinely excited for this mode and I really don't want to play it anymore until they rebalance the ships, their perks, and add some extra control sensitivity options for flying vehicles separately.

    Ultimately, I feel like this is too shallow of a game to give a great score to. It's fun to pop in and play a few ground combat rounds but that's it. Even though the Battlefield and Star Wars parts of me enjoys playing, I feel like this could have been so much more than it was. Alas, I sit here waiting for a true successor to Battlefront, X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter/X-Wing Alliance, and Jedi Knight. Unfortunately, I'm afraid I'm going to be waiting a long, long time.    … Expand

    No story mode to speak of. There is some content to play in single player, but it's nothing anyone will waste time on. Online mode is pretty skimpy and has had a lot of connection issues. I give this game 1 star for the pretty graphics. Probably the biggest letdown of the year. I'm trading my copy in this weekend. I hope the next Star Wars game isn't as bad as this one.

    With the new film of the space opera saga finally on the big screen and the release of Battlefront's new sequel, both after a decade overdue, it is definitely the best time to be a Star Wars fan. The game itself is a dream-come-true for fans, and the Star Wars spectacle is strong in this one. However, if it is depth and longevity you seek... this is not the game you are looking for.
