The only good thing about this game is the genuine look of the scenery and the sounds. Game play is pathetic and extremely repetitious. The poor designed combat roll is worthless. The Star grading system is horrid as unless you spent months practicing in multi-player you can hardly get two of the 5 stars in each challenge. The fact of no story mode is the icing on the stale cake. IThe only good thing about this game is the genuine look of the scenery and the sounds. Game play is pathetic and extremely repetitious. Star Wars: Battlefront has to be the biggest disappointment in gaming in a long time. Online never has appealed to me, so the only gaming experiences I am interested in are single-player driven. I honestly wouldn't mind the fact that this game has no story mode had it not taken the classic Battlefront franchise, both of which had excellent single-player campaigns that were intriguing and fun to play through. The fact that EA and DICE thought that a campaign mode was unnecessary really shows far removed this game is from the original two games. The game is unpolished, with a number of animation glitches happening within the first few hours of the game. The heroes, while fun to play as, feel stupidly overpowered while playing with bots, and as a result the biggest thing Star Wars: Battlefront had going for it added thirty minutes of playtime, only ten of which were refreshing. I can guess that the heroes are more fun to play as in the online mode, but I've read that people will just hang back and steal the hero tokens so nobody except a few people will every play as heroes. The other single-player modes are fine, but there is so little substance here that they all feel stale, boring, and repetitive. There's nothing of interest on these linear, barren maps, so no match feels distinct, not to mention the fact that everything in this game is so limited in terms of substance. There are no open-ended systems to use to your advantage, and no clever physics. This game is so limited, and I think that is the root of all the problems here. Yes the aesthetics have been nailed, and everything looks and sounds authentic to the Star Wars universe, but nothing about the gameplay actually reinforces the visuals, and as a result Star Wars: Battlefront lacks any sort of depth or interest. There is so little that appeals to me in Star Wars: Battlefront, that I could not excuse myself for giving this game anything more than a 2 out of 10. Expand

This Star Wars game was just another money consuming game from EA. You could get all the fun out of it (including DLCs) in about 8 hours. The multiplayer only thing was horrible and the content was lacking. When DLCs came out I was ready to give this game another chance. And then again, they only added a few maps and one new game mode. The heroes were just stupid and you practically have to sprint your **** ass off to get to be them. Even if you are hero, it's probably only the last 2 seconds of the game.

This is a Star Wars game for fans, that's it. It shoves Star Wars into your face and won't let you forget it. They worked lines from the movie into other characters' dialogue to the point where it sounds like the people in the game saw Star Wars recently and are reciting lines to each other like an inside joke, while fighting Star Wars battles. "We've captured the point. ALL TOO EASY!" Han Solo recites lines we've heard in a dozen other games, but only heard once in the movies. The game wasn't written to fit in within the SW movies, it was assembled verbatim from them. Worse, it was assembled from the Star Wars movies we've seen a hundred times. Conveniently rushed to shelves in time to see a new one hit theaters in a few weeks, but we don't see any of that one here.

The problem is that if you were to strip away the Star Wars theme from these battles and reskin it with pretty much anything else, the game is not good. Sure, it feels like the originals, but they're a decade old. There's no excuse for this game to be the least bit shallow in terms of content, but there it is. You're running around looking for glowing tokens like Crash Bandicoot looking for fruit.

It comes down to people who are happy with what we were handed here, and the people who see what this could have been. It could have expanded on things like Jedi Knight or KOTOR, could have had gameplay options and freedom like the Arkham games did for Batman (tell me using the grapple hoist line Luke used to grenade the AT-AT, but free to use anywhere creatively wouldn't have been amazing) but instead we got the standard EA movie tie-in treatment.

A game that costs over $100 (season pass + basic game) with lots of content cut from the original Lucasarts series = garbage. If you enjoy really good Star Wars graphics patched into a Battlefield engine have at it but be warned it will cost you some extra cash in the long run.

EA Greed Strikes Back should be the title of this disasterpiece. Yes, the graphics are incredible - hence the "1" score. The 9 other missing points are for the lack of fun, content, and the incessant over-charging EA continuously does AND GETS AWAY WITH.

I give the game a 1 because graphics justify it. Out side of appearances the game has nothing. Spawn, shoot, kill, die, there is no more to the game than that. No story mode to speak of. There is some content to play in single player, but it's nothing anyone will waste time on. Online mode is pretty skimpy and has had a lot of connection issues. I give this game 1 star for the pretty graphics. Probably the biggest letdown of the year. I'm trading my copy in this weekend. I hope the next Star Wars game isn't as bad as this one.

Controls are more like an arcade shooter, another watered down and half-baked mechanic to the game. Whats worse that the arcade-like controls is the flight controls, I dont know what they were thinking or if they even tested them because theyre just awful. You literally with break your arm trying to turn you TIE fighter 180 degrees.

They wanted to create big battles, yet they filled it with npcs. Meanwhile games like Planetside have 1200 people on a giant single map. The technology exists, but you gotta put in some effort. It's obvious EA doesn't care about making decent games, and only care about money and money from dlc with as little effort as possible. Oh, and any gane that you pay $60 for, pay for dlc, and still slaps on microtransactions is absolute garbage.

To make things worse, the shooting mechanics, balance, etc are all off. So it's a pretty skeleton of a game with Star Wars in it's name. F off with this trash.

I put in Star Wars Battlefront, played a survival and battle two of the four maps (YES, a WHOPPING FOUR), and then had to spend the next 20 mins wiping the **** out of the disc drive so I could play something that actually resembled a game. No doubt, the rest of the galaxy that we saw in the amazing games that preceded this one in the series will be available for purchase as DLC in a money-grab by Emperor EA. Darth DICE clearly looked at the original games of the series, said "Okay, this is really cool" and then proceeded to model the game after the aftermath of their next meal at Chipotle. I might have ditched my girlfriend to play this game, but at least I'm still getting screwed by EA.

I just kept going through the menu's trying to find where the game was, but clearly EA and DICE forgot to put it on the disc. Oh well, at least they have their money, clearly that's all this game was about anyway. I had to think for a moment whether I had to check the box on this review to have a spoiler warning, but honestly there is absolutely no content in the game to be spoiled.

It's sad that this game may be considered successful because EA and DICE pulled the wool over the fanbase's collective eyes and we all had to buy it to find out how crappy it is. We expected Luke Skywalker, and we got Jar Jar Binks. If you want to play Battlefront, break out the PS2, because this game is not Battlefront. Time to get back to Fallout 4, or literally anything else.

With the new film of the space opera saga finally on the big screen and the release of Battlefront's new sequel, both after a decade overdue, it is definitely the best time to be a Star Wars fan. The game itself is a dream-come-true for fans, and the Star Wars spectacle is strong in this one. However, if it is depth and longevity you seek... this is not the game you are looking for.
