This game has great sound and graphics. One of the most visually and aurally impressive games ever.

This is not a great game though. It is very pretty and very shallow and lacking of content. There are a lot of game modes, but there is no context to them. They just feel like small rule changes on the same small selection of maps. At launch there are lots of sound and networking

This gets us to the game play. It's too fast to die.
You spawn, you die. You walk a bit, you die. You finally see a guy and get him, but then you die.
    die.die.die.

Not for me. Needs some of the Star Wars magic, not just the great A/V presentation.

Also very expensive for so little actual game. At launch it was $79.99 CDN, and the DLC pack for a year is another $69.99. That is insane. EA needs to pull it's head out. There is no game here, just pretty graphics. They should be offering a year of DLC as part of that ridiculous $*) for a game charge.

Not recommended unless they drop the price, or offer a lot of free content and game fixes.

EA Greed Strikes Back should be the title of this disasterpiece. Yes, the graphics are incredible - hence the "1" score. The 9 other missing points are for the lack of fun, content, and the incessant over-charging EA continuously does AND GETS AWAY WITH.

Well...i played it, how do I say without Star Wars Fans killing me...
This Game is quite boring. If you want to play a Game like this, you could play Battlefield, because this is just another BF Game, for the exception, its not very fun to play.

Well, what can u expect from EA Games?
The game (most of the time) have some nice graphics. And point. That's the only positive thing about it.
On the other hand, being a SW fan I must say that I'd never expend my money on it. The map are totally unbalanced, there's literally no skill gap, and EA Games will make you swallow down tons of DLC to continue being able to play the game

Oh, I almost forgot to mention: there's no campaign! LOL, how can a SW game have no campaign?

Stay away from this game, it will look amazing in the first hour, but will be forgotten in a few months! Glad I could play it on the 10 hours trial from EA Acess and didn't buy it.

    1. It lacks so much content. EA just created a couple of maps and games modes chucked it together and here you go. There is a lack of variety for a AAA 2015 game, you can tell immediately that EA has not put in the effort to make this truely a star wars game. Its just a cash out on star wars for them
    2. Campaign is a total joke, they had to put it in just for the sake of having a offline coop mode (complete garbage of waves of NPC to kill)
    3. The lack of classes, this right here was a lazy move by EA, instead of creating various classes and models they just created 1 SAMPLE model for all people to play with COD style progression.

Starwars Battlefront 2 a PS2 GAME has WAY more content than this next gen game. Galactic Conquest, space battles, dozens of maps, campaigns, etc. This has nothing. This was made by the wrong company. This is not Battlefront. The game that was supposed to come out for ps3 and xbox 360 looked 5x better. This is a joke. This is just a standard battlefield skinned shooter.

They had everything to make a good game but it seems that there is just money that matters to EA. $ 80 plus tax for a game that does not contain a single player or multiplayer and game mode are all the same, excluding dlc to 69$ so 150$ plus tax for a full game. This game is a shame for the players.

This is simply not Star Wars Battlefront but Star Wars Battlefield. They used the stuff of Battlefront 1 and 2 that sucked and no real fan did play anyways (huge maps, vehicles and heroes), while providing no small scale ctf/deathmatch with good and diverse balancing. They just focus on the K/D ratio. Nothing else. The sounds are amazing, it looks amazing, but the "game", there is nothing. I played it for 3 hours, and got so. Utterly. Bored. It is so repetitive. There is no meat to the game. People only give it a pass because it is Star Wars. This is not a $60 game. Not at all. Maybe $30. At most. Only because of the graphics and sound.

The game removes any feeling of usefulness. You feel like the random Stormtroopers in the films who get shot before they pull the trigger. Then you magically respawn and do the same thing. In other games, you feel like you at least do SOMETHING for your team. You may be the worst on it, but you still feel like you did something. Here? Not a thing. You feel like a plastic bag used for target practice.

They removed Space Battles because why not, and made it become part of the regular battles. Dumb move. The maps are too big for land troops to get anywhere, and because of ridiculous logic, you get shot with a pistol across the map. But they are also too small for ships. You can't go 8 seconds in one direction before you are out of bounds. And the controls....OH MY LORD THE CONTROLS. You can't control them for piss, and if an enemy comes up behind you, you're done. You can't retaliate. If they get behind you, the controls do not allow you to even attempt to swing around and retaliate.

The "game" has nothing there. There is nothing but a few modes, "which arent that great", and thats it. No story, no campaign, no singleplayer, and the price for this, plus dlc is insane. I can't believe they thought releasing this piece of garbage was alright.

I've played over 60 hours of this game and after the first 25 hours I didn't have too many grievances outside of EA's bad business plan. However the next 25 hours proved that the more I played it the more complaints I had about the gameplay.

    Positives:
+ Graphically the game looks fantastic and feels smooth. If any game deserves a optimisation and graphics award for 2015 its DICE for Battlefront. Very few frame dips below 60 even on console and very few(if any) glitches or bugs. Game feels like you're stepping into the Star Wars Universe.

+ Card System. While many criticise the card system compared to DICE's usual secondary weapons/ class modes I find it creates a better battle and more chaos which is always fun. Only having to wait for a grenade to refill is a lot better than having to wonder around looking for an ammo bag or someone who drops an ammo bag and shooting at them to try and communicate the face you need ammo.

+ Turning Point, Supremecy and Walker Assault. The 3 best modes in the game are massive and chaotic exactly what you'd expect from Star Wars battles. I do wish that had added conquest to these as well.

+ Fighter Squadron and Air vehicles. I do think they really nailed the controls for the air vehicles. I could never get the hang of the controls for the jets in battlefield and didnt think I would enjoy Fighter Squadron. How wrong I was. The controls, the speed and the open area of air space makes it easy to take flight in one of the vehicles.

+ Heroes and Villians, Playing as both heroes and villians is awesome. Each hero has their own ability set which are useful in certain game modes if you use them right. There is the game mode Heroes v Villians which really makes being the hero more challenging than getting a power up in regular games.

    Negatives:
    - Lack of maps and depth. Yep like everyone else I really hate that it was rushed out before the film to take advantage of the hype of the film. You can see it in the lack of maps, weapons, game modes and single player. If they had waited another 6 months they would have had a good solid game that wouldnt have everyone frothing at the mouth because of the disappointment. And then to charge $50 for a season pass is beyond ridiculous.

    - Game is too casual. I get that they wanted it to have an arcadic feel like the old games but I was hoping for a bit more of a competitive edge. Killing from afar is ridiculously easy even with a weapon that doesnt have a great distance rating, theres no bullet drop and zero recoil. Also there is Aim Assist to really show it casualness.

    - Imbalance between Empire and Rebels. Theres no consistency in balance in the game modes. Some maps and game modes its better to be the rebels and others its better to be the empire. In Walker Assault the empire have AT-ATs and AT-STs while the rebels have nothing. In Endor the empire only has only AT-AT, have camouflaged gear making them hard to see and some of the objective points are in really advantaged defence points.

    - Bobba Fett is ridiculously overpowered. He can fly in the air for an almost unlimited amount of time, has powerful main weapon and targeted torpedo secondary weapon. Hes really hard to hit and he can easily hit you. The hero ships in fighter squadron are ridiculously overpowered as well. It takes a huge amount of shots and time to shoot down either Slave I or Millennium Falcon.

    - DICE still have not been able to fix the collider issues with Frostbite 3. So many times I'd be trying to jump over a small rock or bit of debris and would get stuck. And these are small colliders where if it was in reality a small little jump would be enough to clear it.

    - Air Vehicles slow down. I really don't know why they decided to include this but when you pul back on the left analog when flying an air vehicle you can slow it right down. This means you're practically in the one spot and are able to turn 180 degrees without problem so you can continue to track a ship when they try to evade you. However this means that the ship is never able to evade you making the basic maneuvers absolutely pointless and makes the Fighter Squadron mode far too easy.

Overall its a good shooter but falls flat due to its own bad publisher plan and by going the casual route. A lot of changes will need to be made in any future sequels to win back many fans.

First off I will talk about the positives this game has to bring to the table.
    1. This game is absolutely incredible to look at. The visuals are simply breath taking and at times you can't help but just sit back and look at how incredible everything looks.

    2. The game is incredibly casual and easy to pick up and play. It is understandable why DICE made this game so simple and casual, they need to appeal to as many people as possible. That being said, if you're someone who doesn't have a lot of time to dedicate to playing a game, then this is great for you, because this game requires virtually zero skill to play. Simply put, the game is incredibly simple to play, you'll dominate if you're a Battlefield Veteran like I am.

    3. Last one for the positives. When it really comes down to what is important, the game is fun to play. I've definitely had fun running around on Hoth gunning down rebels as an AT-ST, I have to admit.

Here comes the main reasons why I only gave this game a 5. Most people would consider a 5 to be a pretty bad score (or at least I do) and this is why I consider Star Wars Battlefront to be a pretty bad game.

    1. The game is INCREDIBLY casual. I know I listed that as a positive, but it's also a negative and this is why. The game gets boring and repetitive incredibly fast! There is very little variety in this game and it is very apparent that DICE was (once again) rushed to release this game. It seems that there are about 4 maps in the entire game and things get very repetitive. There are no classes in this game and your "load out" will be pretty much the same every single game since you will inevitably gravitate towards one load out that works best for you. This, for me, is very disappointing since I loved how the original Battlefront was balanced with the different classes, this game has none of that which, for lack of better words, sucks.

    2. The game has no story mode. This is a big one that people are very disappointed about. I know this one has been mentioned constantly, that's why I'm not going to talk about it.

    3. This game gets boring faster than watching paint dry. If I'm being completely honest, this game doesn't have much when it comes to replay value. There are 2 or 3 game modes that are fun to play, other than those the game simply won't keep you coming back for more. You will inevitably get bored after about a half hour and will stop playing. That's what happens to me every time I play.

Simply put, I have no doubts that anybody that plays this game will have fun for the first couple hours that they play it, but other than that I wouldn't say that it will keep you playing for the next year. Wait for a price drop and buy it, don't pay 60 dollars for a game that has 30 dollars worth of enjoyment with it. After the aw over the visuals wears off, you will be done with the game.

The multiplayer has 9 game modes, some of witch are very similar but some stand out like: Walker Assault and Supremacy, Walker Assault seems to be the fan favorite. It focuses on rebels trying to bring down walkers and the empire defending them. Player customization is a nice way to keep the game fresh, you can choose your blaster and 3 "Star Cards" that can give you things like a jet pack or sniper rifle but then extremely cheap things like a homing missile that can become frustrating. I do wish they added more Star Cards, some feel totally useless and don't add much to the game. Customization for your character is extremely overpriced,Minimule and only unlocked once you have experienced most of the game. It's awesome hearing your blaster going Pew Pew but I do wish they explained upon them more, after awhile you just use the same gun. Battlefront also has a co-op game-mode where you and 1 friend can work through waves of enimes in the most original idea for a game since Candy Crush.
Battlefront is extremely fun in small bursts and captures the Star Wars universe very well but I feel like there was lots of wasted potential here. There is no weapon customization, there are limited weapons, and there is no building up a weapon. You could use the same weapon for over 10,000 kills and it will be the same gun you used for kill 1. This is not the Battlefront of old, but a flashy rehashing of a concept that once worked and now falls short. Its multiplayer is astounding- for the first few hours. Its multiplayer is astounding- for the first few hours. After that, the repetition of the game's core mechanics and incredibly redundant perks, known as "cards", becomes quite tiresome. Singleplayer is a joke, as is local splitscreen. No longer can you wage huge battles with or against your friends locally, that mode has been reduced to a strictly competitive 4v4 death match, rendering local play pretty boring. Survival mode is fun the first time, but also quickly grows stale.

With only 4 actual maps (Tatooine, Endor, Hoth, Sullust) and no ground vehicle options for the Rebel side, it's obvious this game was a money grab through and through. It is not worth retail, and I can only thank the lord I didn't opt for the deluxe edition since you get all the deluxe content in the regular edition anyways, just at a later stage in the game. I hope beyond all hope the free content I've been hearing about comes and in droves, this game sorely needs new maps, BETTER (not more) game modes, and a vehicle rehashing.

More negatives: you can't customize your weapons, squads are reduced to simply you and one other partner, you can't identify enemies on the battlefield like in Battlefield, you have literally no sidearm ever except your cards (which I feel takes a layer out of the multiplayer experience as I sit and wait for my sniper rifle to recharge for 30 seconds in an excellent position), air combat is incredibly easy and with incredibly predictable spawns makes retaking aerial supremacy downright impossible... I could go on all day.

It looks fantastic and the sound design is the best video games have to offer, but do not be fooled and judge this book by its cover. You're better off getting Fallout 4 and Rainbow Six Siege this holiday season, at least until the free content downloads start coming.

Battlefront screams quality over quantity, and it definitely won't appeal to certain types of gamers, but it does one thing better than any shooter released in the last couple of years do, it's fun albeit simple. The graphics are top notch, for once I feel like I'm actually inside a Star Wars film, the maps are practically replicas of the sets from the original films. The graphics are top notch, for once I feel like I'm actually inside a Star Wars film, the maps are practically replicas of the sets from the original films. Content wise, this is where most seem to be disappointed, it is definitely lacking as of launch. From a consumers stand point, this is unacceptable, from the Devs standpoint, they were pushed to release this before the new film releases so most of the time was put to authenticity. Dice promise lots of free support on top of the atrociously priced DLC season pass, which starts in early Decemeber. The modes are mostly fun but are typical shooter fare, minus one called Hero Hunt which is all based on cheap tactics and luck to win, but the true catch here are the two larger scale modes. These are Walker Assault and Supremacy. Walker Assault pits Rebels against Imperials with heavy artillery within a time limit to destroy all Imperial AT-AT's or have their base destroyed resulting in loss. Supremacy is very much Battlefields classic conquest mode with a catch, instead of losing respawn tickets both teams are fighting over capturing all the control points, being whoever has them all by the end or who has the most wins. Overall I see this as a very niche game, it will appeal mostly to Star Wars fans and casual shooter players like myself (I tend to pop in an online shooter for maybe a couple hours once or twice a week). This game most likely won't appeal to the COD or Halo fan, even Battlefield fans and this is a game developed by DICE, all because it lacks depth or realism. The game is very arcadey and doesn't hold hundered of levels worth of in game unlocks as of launch. This is a game you pick up and play every once in awhile, it is not the kind of game you'll throw 100's hours online into a game like in Battlefield. But with DICE's promise of free post launch update content I have hope for this game to become something much better. As of now I can't go higher than a 6/10, although I'm enjoying the game I can't justify the lack of content at launch for $60. Maybe in a few months it will be worth it. But in my opinion the season pass fiasco has gotten out of hand. No games post launch content should double the price of a game and I am boycotting EA by not purchasing any of the DLC just as I did with BF3 and BF4. Expand

Not bad for an EA game.

Pros: Makes me feel like I'm in a Star Wars Battle with the incredible graphics and the all the **** happening around you. The multiplayer gamemodes are pretty cool themselves. The audio is spectacular. Everything that the game does good, it does perfectly. Cons: Feels empty in gameplay. The balancing is **** Unlock system is disappointingly limited,

Cons: Feels empty in gameplay. The balancing is **** Unlock system is disappointingly limited, especially in the appearance of your character. Voice acting for the Heroes are really bad impressions (except for Boba Fett who's voiced by the actual Clone Trooper guy). There is a single player but nothing that makes me as immersed as the game modes on multiplayer. No conquest or story mode either.

Star wars battlefront goes for the quality over quantity style. However, the game is very poorly put together, clunky controls and overall, just a bad feel for the game. It's not the most complex shooter, but it's the ideal pick-up-and-play experience for Star Wars fans. Stunning environments, solid shooting and immersive sound design mask the shortcomings. [Jan 2016, p.82]

With the new film of the space opera saga finally on the big screen and the release of Battlefront's new sequel, both after a decade overdue, it is definitely the best time to be a Star Wars fan. The game itself is a dream-come-true for fans, and the Star Wars spectacle is strong in this one. However, if it is depth and longevity you seek... this is not the game you are looking for.

Spectacular production values help to make this game enjoyable in the early going, but it soon enough shows that it is painfully lacking in terms of maps and depth in its current form. [Issue#265, p.72]
